I want to know about your WIP Bury The Sunlight

*cackles maniacally* okay. so. this au was built between me and a friend a while ago, and the gist of it is that lwj goes to protect wwx and wn at qiongqi dao, ends up too late to save jzxuan, but covers their escape and ends up getting his 33 lashes for that. but! rather than accept this and go into seclusion, he makes that insane trip to the burial mounds, only instead of finding a'yuan, he begs wwx for asylum. so he ends up healing from his whipping with wwx and the wens in the burial mounds -- aka probably the worst possible place to attempt to heal anything for anyone ever. the title (from "Failure" by Breaking Benjamin) alludes to the way resentment might affect healing -- especially from such massive damage -- for a sword path cultivator, and how the balance of energies might shift within their body. the fic would largely deal with wwx alternating between beating himself up for corrupting the pure and perfect hanguang-jun and only barely not destroying the cloud recesses for daring to hurt him like this. also i really want doctor!wq and patient!lwj interactions because i think they'd be hilarious.

Blood dripping from his lips, from Wen Ning's clenched fist, rivulets following the black corpse lines up his arm, upsidedown, inverted world. Twang. So, they've come. For blood. Wei Wuxian draws on the resentful energy that saturates the blood pool. Pulls it into himself. Gulping it down, overflowing himself with it. If the Jins have come, they will not have come alone, and Wei Wuxian will need all the power he can get. It is difficult to hold this kind of power, this much resentment. His control wavers, his mind frays. The toll it takes on his body-- Well. It's not like that'll matter for much longer anyway. He'll buy the Wens time. That's all he's ever been able to do, after all. Buy them time. He hopes they don't hate him for it. Wen Ning follows him to the edge of the wards. The gate, such as it is. The seal rattles in Wei Wuxian's sleeve, in Wei Wuxian's head. There are ghosts inside the seal. Ghosts with voices, with teeth, with claws. Until he sets them free, he is their only available target. They agitate his anger, bring it raging to the surface. It's good, the anger. He cannot be weak now. Not when he may need to take on an army.

(full disclosure: i do not remember which of us wrote this. i have no record of her writing it, but it's so much her style that i wouldn't be surprised. i know that i did write some of it. but idk how much...)

How did WKM work in the mirror AU, then?

That’s one I’m still trying to figure out; a few of the Ego vids are a little tricky to work into it, but that (and DAMIEN) are definitely the ones I’m having the most trouble with.

So first off, in my AUs where they’re actually Egos (which would be Main, Outside, and Mirror), videos like WKM end up as planted memories. They seem vividly real like they actually did happen, but since the Ego was created before whatever the video is was released, the video (or in some cases, accepted headcanons by creators/ones that become super popular by fans) result in the altering of their memories. The Egos know about this, but it doesn’t change the fact that the memories seem real to them, even if they are just planted.

So with that in mind, WKM became planted memories. Will and Dark were actually actors for it and played their own parts with Mark as the Actor while Teamiplier recorded.

So, as for Mirror, things would have had to be altered to fit its version of the characters instead of Main’s. And fine-tuning how everything went down is where I’m struggling a bit.

But my current thoughts are it was an attempt by Mark to develop Dark more, and get both Dark and Will more popular with the fans to get them stronger, but the final product was altered by Bing, and Mark had no idea until the videos were already posted. By then, it was too late to do anything about it. Dark ended up even more jumpy as a result, and I’m not sure about its effects on Wilford, yet.

In Mirror, it was completely accidental that Damien and Celine stole the DA’s body. Actor also wasn’t bad; the Manor was still evil though, and probably just had him outright trapped inside and the party was an attempt at getting help that severely backfired. It wasn’t Mark’s original plan; he’d actually wanted it to play out pretty similarly to Main WKM (with it being a lot less tragic for Dark and Will, though), but Bing getting a hold of the files and altering them fucked everything up. The final product was all fake video and deep-fakes that gave Dark and Will new memories they were not expecting. “Where’s WKM? That’s not what we acted out!”

So in the fake, Manor killed Actor, killed Damien, Actor ended up in the wrong body, Manor killed Celine when she was trying to communicate with it so both she and Damien were stuck in the UpsideDown for a short while, it’s just a total mess. The argument between Wilford and Abe probably still happened, though Abe would have been the one to shoot first since Mirror Will is a lot more rational than Main. So, Wilford’s down, DA comes running, Abe accidentally shoots them, they fall over the railing and die, so enter the UpsideDown with the twins.

They don’t know what they’re doing when the DA agrees to their offer, and (totally by accident) end up pushing the DA into the mirror.  

I ended up kinda rambling, so hope it makes sense. That’s all I’ve figured out so far, and what’s here is subject to change if I figure something out something that works better. It’s been one of the harder things to figure out. ^^”

Zeldris is the lead singer in a band (Melascyla on backing vocals, Fraudrin on synthesier). They sing about death and boredom, wear too much eyeliner, and have a large following of teenage fans. They do well enough in the charts. Though they do not realise it, their manager Cusack dictates their every move down to what songs they release, what instruments and sounds they use, their entire artistic direction and press image.

Their world is turned upsidedown when a new band is launched. Unashamed manufactured, this girl group sings about feminism and politics, they are spiky and in your face, they wear really bold, colourful make up and way too much hairspray. Their members are Gelda, Liz and Derieri.

Both bands release singles in the same week. Zeldris, at Cusack’s encouragement, goes on a public offensive calling Gelda’s group a bunch of talentless hasbeens. He’s a bit scared of Derieri and Liz (who can blame him) so he singles out Gelda for his public vitriol. Gelda responds by calling them pathetic losers, saying that Zeldris in particular is a fake poser.

They both make it into the top ten, selling nearly identical numbers of records but Gelda’s group has a slight edge, coming in at number 3 to Zeldris’s number 4. They meet backstage as they prepare to perform on Top Of The Pops. There Zeldris realises that Gelda writes her own music and, despite being manufactured, their manager Zaratras lets the bad do pretty much what they want, helping them realise their ambitions rather than dictating them. He reflects that even though his band he formed, it is now more Cusack’s than his.

After talking Gelda and Zeldris realise they are actually pretty compatible and they spend more time together. Zeldris fires Cusack, replacing him with his brother Meliodas. As relations between the two bands improve, they decide to collaborate for a novelty record. They release it and it becomes Christmas Number 1. Zeldris and Gelda realise they are in love and get married in a secret ceremony the following year. The music press find out and make a big deal of it but neither of the two musicians care.

i very much LOVE this. the pace of the story was something that i'm not used to and i could complain about one night spanning over 3 chapters and then 6 months fly by in another 3, but other than that i don't really have an issue with it. one could argue that will is a liiiiitle out of character but i think the buildup to his newfound confidence and sass is pretty good, you just have to get used to it a little. there are a lot of things i liked about this fic, some lines and train of thoughts that i just felt was genius.
