Windward and Leeward

In sailing terminology, windward means "upwind," or the direction from which the wind is blowing. A windward vessel refers to one that is upwind of another vessel; a leeward vessel is downwind.

In naval warfare, windward ships had the advantage due to much greater maneuverability than their leeward (downwind) foes.

If you mean the tabletop game, I surely do! It's a beautiful setting and the Q-system is so great for storytelling! We need to sing about it from the rooftops so more people can play and explore, it's one of the best ttrpg campaigns Ive ever played

I think it would be even funnier if the dog likes literally everyone else. Like the dog is friendly but when Crocodile comes around it’s like a switch has been flipped and the dog is growly. Do you think that Croc ever wins the dog over or that he even tries to? I can’t decide if I think that he tries to become friends with the puppy or not

Her behavior is beyond annoying but he simply has better things to do than try to bribe some fat little pug with treats. Getting you a dog was admittedly a bad decision but it is what it is. You're happy with your choleric little dog and that's what's important here. But he expects gratitude - for being allowed to keep her, for feeding her and taking her out even though she seems to hate his entire existence. Irritating as she is - she provides excellent leverage. Suddenly there is this tiny thing you feel protective over, feel love for, feel responsible for. He's not going to let that opportunity slip through his fingers. After the Summit War? I think he'd soften up a little. The two of them are never going to be best friends but he acknowledges that she's here to stay (just like he is) and that she's the apple of your eye. Might as well make the best of it. You'll definitely catch him just. Staring at her, trying to figure out this wrinkly ball of attitude. (And no, the dog is still not allowed on the bed. Stop giving him that look.)

Stampbreed wolfwood smoking is SO funny to me, bc he's still very much a pet, and just. Nai letting the dogs out to have a romp and also a smoke. (Although actually Nai probably wouldn't let him, so I imagine it's a secret smoke when he's not home)

I've been trying to get better about noticing things that are causing me discomfort rather than just putting up with them. stuff like putting on pajamas when I'm cold or taking medicine when i get headaches, yk

Francesca Clapcich, two time Olympian and the only Italian to win The Ocean Race, will lead a new project by MerConcept, a notable French company involved in offshore racing projects. Called UpWind by MerConcept, Clapcich will skipper their new racing program that will provide female sailors with racing opportunities at the highest levels of the sport.

Alongside founding partner 11th Hour Racing, the initial plan is to compete for the next two years in the Ocean Fifty offshore trimaran circuit in a multi-event series, including a west-to-east transatlantic race. Mentored by some of the industry’s most experienced sailors and technical shore teams, the program seeks to be a pioneering initiative designed to promote diversity, inclusion, and sustainable excellence in offshore sailing.

Reports Clapcich, “I totally share the vision of François Gabart, a Vendée Globe winner and the Founder of MerConcept when he says, ‘Teams perform at their best when they comprise diverse talent. A first step to achieving this is to support the growth in the critical mass of talented female sailors with offshore multihull experience so that all teams taking on challenges like the Jules Verne Trophy will have mixed crews in the future.’ Bring it on!

“We are looking for sailors with experience from all over the world and across all disciplines of the sport – inshore, offshore, match-racing, Olympics. A shortlist of twelve candidates will be invited to come to France for a week-long selection process, and then a squad of six female sailors will be part of a rotating performance crew, boosted by a delivery and training crew.

“Applications are now open for female sailors to apply to be part of the program. Deadline is March 24, 2024 so please do apply and share with anyone who you know could be suitable.
