Nuevamente monos y gauchos en Primera
Tumblr media

Interweave Knits, Winter 2023
This issue emphasizes pullovers, with a total of 9 of the, including 1 tunic, and also including some re-prints from the Wool Studio digital magazine. There are also a vest, a hat with matching mitts, and a cowl
Among the new patterns, you see the Taskette Pullover in lilac on the cover. It features a clever cabling that looks like you are weaving the knitting. Laura Barker designed it in Manos del Uruguay Alegria Grande which is a DK or light worsted yarn of superwash Merino and synthetic blend. It is a 3 out of 4 for difficulty. The caramel and brown lattice patterned sweater is Sonneteer Sweater by Heather David and combines garter stitches and slip-stitch cables. It is made in Peace Fleece Worsted which mixes wool and mohair and it is another 3 out of 4 as are all the pullovers I am featuring. Moira Engel did the aran style sweater with heavy cables called Dizen Sweater, which is made of Brown Sheep Company’s Prairie Spun DK, a 100% wool yarn. The cable patterns are all charted for all of these patterns
Another cabled pattern, but with the interest running down the sleeves is Charles Pullover by Michele Wang which is one of the reprints. It has an over-sized fit and saddle shoulders and is done in The Fibre Co’s Arranmore which is a Merino, cashmere, silk blend. The boxy grey pullover is another reprint. This is called Cartesian Pullover, designed by Irina Anikeeva, and done in Trendsetter Yarns Placid, a bulky weight of cashmere, Merino, nylon blend.
Faunus Hat, which you see here in green comes with matching mitts and is 2 out of 4 for difficulty. Kelly Sandusky scattered cables motifs on the front of it but stuck to the practical ribbed hemline. It is done in O-Wool O-Wash Fingering, an organic Merino wool.
Kim McBrien Evans wrote the 6 page article on making sweaters that fit which includes several charts to allow you to measure yourself and calculate what you like in the cut of a sweater. She also has tips on evaluating a gauge swatch for comfort and durability as well as for the drape of the fabric. A QR code gives you a hand little PDF to fill in with your own numbers. There are also columns on new notions and new yarns.
You can find it at your Local Yarn Shop, or LYS, or online here: https://www.interweave.com/product-category/knitting/knitting-magazines/knitting-magazines-interweave-knits/

i was about to say something but i forgot what i was about to say
anyways, did you know that the paraguayan war, also called the war of the tripple aliance started because of something in uruguay, yes actually.
so basically brazil helped overthrow the uruguayan government because they wanted someone who's suport them and then paraguay got angry because they wanted suport from urugauy
paraguay decided to answer the overthrowing by marching through argentina (without consent :0 ) and into uruguay, therefore uruguay, argentina and brazil decided to kill 60% of their population :)
thy end

Vogue Knitting, Winter 2021-2022
The cover features Michelle Obama, interviewed by a 14-year-old reporter (yes, 14), who was one of the many people who turned to making during the pandemic. To keep with the theme of new knitters, Mary Jane Mucklestone offers a technical article for learning how to knit mittens. All the rest of the designs offered are rated Easy, including several pullovers, or Intermediate which is most of the patterns, or Complex.
The natural theme appears in several features, including a section on cables with neutral colors. You see here  Sipapa by Jane Yu is one of them with crossing cables across the front on a drop shoulder pullover in Cascade Yarns Friday Farbor which mixes merino and silk. Its directions take up almost 3 pages, so you can see why it was rated Complex. The Aloba cowl by Monica Christine Maier is made from Brooklyn Tweed Dapple, a mix of wool and cotton, rates an Intermediate for difficulty.
After the neutral colors in cables, we get the sections on bugs (yes, bugs). Malachite in Manos Del Uruguay’s Alegria and Fino, lace-weight yarn, has you covered in bugs created with mini skeins and duplicate stitch and design by Hue Wang Harbich. I’m not sure how many people outside of entomologists are hankering to be covered in beetles, or have an enormous beetle pointing up their torso. I show you the most successful of these 7 designs, one by Jacqueline van Dillen called Atlas which stylizes the beetle motif far more than most of the others. It is a cardigan in brioche stitch done in Plymouth Worsted Merino Superwash. It doesn’t shout BEETLE at you. A murmur at most.
Finally, you see one of the simplest sweater patterns: Bostonia, which is an oversize pullover by Hannah Thiessen done in Woolfolk Flette, a worsted weight wool.
In addition to the product and book columns, a new yarns column, a large gift advertising section (I must admit I always peruse this section with excitement), this issue offers an article by Meg Swanson on Armenian knitting which uses long floats to carry colors and her explanation of the best method she found to trap the long floats. There is knitting fashion news, interviews with makers, a bit on the bugs that eat wool and a piece on cochineal, a natural dye.
You can find it at your local yarn store, newsstand, bookstore, or here: https://www.vogueknitting.com/
