#v inspired by that one time everyone was posting around inspirational images w/ the 'i survived bc the fire within me burned brighter
Made (bad?) motivational images out of quotes that bounce around in my skull like the DVD screensaver.
“Felix. I need you to pick up the phone. Now.” -- Jack Walten, the Walten Files.
“Have these statements always been true? Or have I cursed you? Is such a thing possible? A curse that changes your past?” -- ???, Petscop
“Like a thunderclap to a small dog... I felt a strange powerlessness... Countless wonderful things were happening... ‘I want to be kinder.” -- Toby Fox
I had to horribly misrepresent this quote to get it to fit. GO read the full post where they say this.

𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐈𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐋
donna was born on a warm sunny day in a town known as seattle , washington . her father , kristoffer delacroix was a well known investor in the area , known for investing in big businesses such as amazon , apple & disney . her mother is a stay at home mom . she came from a some-what loving family who wanted nothing more than the best for their little girl . during the day her mother was the one to stay at home with her , coddling her , reading to her & cooking for her . while her father was out handling business , or so he claimed to be , but he was there for the night time routine which consisted of many bed time stories ,
growing up her parents had a set idea on how they wanted to raise their only daughter . prepping her to go off to the best ivy league school and perhaps running a business of her own . they taught her how to present herself to the public in a way that wouldn’t tarnish the families name , living a perfect pristine , picture perfect life . however , that was far from how donna wanted to live her own life . instead she wanted to travel , capture the world through images , hike , explore nature & live care free . well , you could guess how the delacroix’s took it , they stated they would simply cut off her cards if that’s the way she wanted to live her life .
it didn’t take long for the girl to get fed up with her families rules , she saved up all she could to move to vancouver . deciding to nestle in an apartment complex that was full of a variety of people from different backgrounds . it’s just what donna wanted .
of course her money did slowly begin to run out , causing the girl to actually have to get a job for a living ( the real world sucks ) , she can be often found helping with recreational events at milton perks .
as far as personality goes , i would say she is a mixture of serena van der woodsen , cher horowitz & brooke davis . she has a big ego , she knows she is the shit and proceeds to act like it ( legit no one could tell her otherwise , her ego is stupid big for some reason 🤪 ) . she likes being spontaneous , she legit will do anything that comes to mind without thinking of the consequences ever . girly swears she is immune to the law . she enjoys having a good time whether it be smoking or drinking . tends to shy away from her feelings most of the time , she doesn’t like letting people really know much about her life prior to moving to vancouver .
𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒
party buddies – legit cannot go wrong with this ?? both radiate chaotic energy and they are the life of all events . their nights usually end with them being passed out somewhere .
frenemy – maybe these two just never clicked but they wouldn’t technically just label each other as full on enemies . they smile in each others faces but behind closed doors they be full on gossiping about each-other .
enemies – full on enemies , they despise each other . maybe they’re fed up with donna’s full blown air head , or there could be something bigger / deeper that occurred . well , no matter what , when these two are around each-other bring out the boxing gloves , some popcorn & prepare for some drama .
ex friends – kylie & jordyn vibes , were once inseparable and now the two do not even speak . who knew friends could easily be replaced as fast as underwear .
one night stand – donna is a lady of the night , she is v open about sex and all that so who knows how many of these she has had .
friends with benefits – very lowkey , casual hook up . very close with each other and there is no awkward vibes between the two . usually ready to light a blunt right after hooking up or playing a game of super smash bros , there is no in between .
brotp / sister relationship – since donna grew up as an only child she always longed for that sibling-esque relationship . the two are very much over-protective of one another , bicker every so often and crack jokes with each-other .
confidant – someone she finally let her big ass guard down to , it’s hard for her to open up but it seemed so easy with this person . you can find the two having heart to heart outside on the beach unloading their problems amongst each other .
platonic soulmates – that duo everyone aspires to be , they just get each-other . from cracking jokes , sleepovers , you rarely could find one without the other . rumors usually conspire around the two and their relationship because of how close they are , but they just laugh it off .

Journal: Final Reflection
The fashion industry has complex links to many other sectors, including manufacturing, advertising, raw material processing, transport, and retailing. The immense profits to be gained in the retail industry give rise to the desire to engage in unethical practices. When suppliers, distributors, designers, or customers are exploited or treated unfairly, fashion industry executives have an ethical duty to improve the situation.
Within Fashion Ethics and Culture course, we were given the opportunity to explore the breadth of creative, aesthetic, and social/cultural expression of design through the lens of ethical and historic considerations – as it is and how it needs to change, the role of the MENA region and its relationship to fashion media.
As a student of DIDI, I felt the same link and inspiration between the Fashion Ethics and Culture course and my vision of how I want to be as a future designer and how I should change the current fashion industry status quo with my future career path. The course creates a creative paradigm for learning ethical fashion design through the lens of ethical and historic considerations. Students are introduced to fashion history, cultural criticism, contemporary culture, and the diversity of representation including ethical considerations and perspectives.
In my opinion, this course plays as a moderator between all other fashion courses we study and extend to other courses with depth like sociology and design histories and theories to link and emphasis all courses material in a dynamic way. We covered various subjects relating to Body Image Problems, Fur Trade Issues, Cultural Hegemony and Appropriation, Consumer Over-consumption, Environmental Effects, and Concerns, Advertisement Conflicts, Brand Name Forgery, Sweat Shop Working Conditions, and Exclusiveness and Injustice Issues; that simultaneously vary from micro to macro scale through lectures, group activities, open discussions in class, and individual presentations.

I enjoyed the above-listed topics and guest lecture discussions we had this semester, but certain to a whole new way of perceiving the world. I would love to deepen and expand my knowledge on the technology and circularity of the fashion industry future as well as focus on modest fashion and ethical practices and success and failure aspects of the Modist business experience. Whether through merging my learning outcome within this semester to my nest fashion studio or final thesis.
Here's my list of the most meaningful subjects for me and some of the highlights of my recent blogs on these topics:
ATCAC-Disrupting the Fashion System
ORIGIN AND HISTORY
Atacac is a Swedish fashion studio that Jimmy Herdberg and Rickard Lindqvist created in 2016. Atacac is designed to disrupt the current fashion system. Atacac is like a laboratory for developing ideas and principles. Then they work as consultants sharing that with other brands to improve their design. The other way they work with other designers is what they call Share-wear. When they release a new product in their online store, they also offer the 2D pattern and the 3D model of the garment for free download. This builds a community of home sellers and independent brands that use their patterns and designs. In certain terms, you can do whatever you want. There is a Credit Common Licence connected to the Share-wear which means you can use it commercially in any way you like, and you can make improvements to it, But you need to give credit back to Atacac if you use it commercially and market the product. You also need to make your development available for other people to keep developing further.
For me ATCAC is a brilliant business module example that is trying to blow the entire system to the ground, I loved how I saw ATCAC embodying every principle, I have been learning for the past 3 years. This blog post and the investigation behind it gave me hope that I can succeed in doing something different with my future dream brand.
Innovative Fashion Marketing
Stretchy Kids’ Clothes Petit Pli gets a growing identity
A sustainable fashion design example that offers apparel that evolves as the wearer grows older has an innovative branding that sounds like “more human” and “less professional." The idea is to reduce the waste of apparel and save parents’ money as children progress up a range of sizes in the first three years of their lives.
It needs time and education to promote meaningful behavioral change. We assume that we are too late for much of our generation. We assume, though, that we are just in time for the next era of LittleHumans. The brilliance of the brand strategy is in anchoring on the opportunity where new parents and young children are more open to improvement and learning than any other part of our community. They do everything not only to promote constructive behavioral improvement but also to make it as seamless as possible.
Marketing as a term became cliché of how much brands are using it without actually making the right –positive impact on their users, within this blog post example of how marketing approach could be current, supportive and extending the brand value to further stage where the client loyalty will be granted due to that extended value, this reminded me of applying the product-service systems methodology, where it's not only the brand responsibility to produce and market a product but they innovate different approaches to extended their after-sale services and product value to emotionally engage their clients.
Empathic Design Process
Empathy is the core of the entire process of Design Thinking. Putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes reinforces our ability to interpret information, and lets us understand how other humans perceive the world around us.
The realm of fashion design is shifting from an external focus on the industry, or an internal focus on integrating technology, to an empathetic focus on people. While it’s not too difficult to rally people around this general idea, it can be hard at first to understand how to translate it into tactics.
I ask myself as a designer, how do we make a good connection between a fashion worker and a customer? My solution to this question is to make fashion employees the hero of the story, create brand ideals around them. Plan company modules to be a win-win for staff and stakeholders. As designers, we should reconfigure how the framework is giving back to the societies through which we work. I expect, as a future fashion designer, to build a secure working environment that will help better the lives of single mothers in Egypt. By offering comprehensive educational opportunities and curating future working talents. The Empathy Concept process will be incorporated not only to understand the consumers but also most critically, to understand the true needs of the heroes behind my future brand.
Technology & future of Circular Fashion
Fashion has always been a major hub for innovation — from the invention of the sewing machine to the rise of e-commerce. As technology, fashion is both forward-looking and cyclical. At $2.2 T, the apparel industry is now one of the top sectors in the global economy. Nowadays, apparel technology is rising more than ever. From robots that sew and cut clothing to AI algorithms that anticipate style patterns, to VR mirrors in dressing rooms, technology automates, customizes, and speeds up every aspect of fashion.
In the optimistic scenario, the future will be led by innovators and collaborators, the industry will leap forward in developing digital passports for clothing that carries an internationally recognized digital asset trigger that could be accessed by designers, retailers, recyclers, and customers alike. This type of standardized infrastructure and labeling approach means that not every brand or approach provider has its own patented approaches, leaving customers stuck in the sea of things to consider. In this way, the future of fashion technologies could truly unify the industry around common practices that would make circularity more visible to everyone.

10 Tarot Drafts Babey!! You can click them to see what cards I’m going off of (or they’re under the cut w/ some explaination). They’re in chronological order for what I’ve done so far.
I don’t post abt process in depth that much on here but this is the kind of project that I spend hours prepping for and thinking about, and I worry there are a lot of choices that don’t make a lot of sense if you aren’t in my head so I want to justify myself. Also I’m too excited about it to just. Not. So. Big long under the cut
thank you to everyone on this post for the inspiration!!! you’re the real heroes
My process for these involves a decent amount of reading ( I use ata-tarot as my main resource which is immeasurably helpful), write a bunch of notes, figure out what kinds of symbols/ images I’m interested in as related to the card, and then it becomes trial and error with composition until I’m satisfied.
(highlights from my Extremely Intellectual Notes include: “make them fucking ice axes you cowards”, “are they moons? are they tomatoes?”, and “it’s her reflection binch”)
So! Some thoughts for each of them!
Quentin- The Fool
This was the one that started it all lads, and it’s kind of a given, since the fool is the one that sets the story into motion and sets us down the path, so to speak.
Eliot- The Magician
I went back and forth on this one a little bit because there are definitely a few different people that I like in this spot and mostly it came down to Eliot not really feeling right to me anywhere else. But, yeah, creativity, individuality, a balance of logic and emotion. Eliot. (also, potential, which is why I went with a s1 eliot look. I’m not gonna explain all of my symbolism choices in these because we’ll be here forever but I wanted to make sure that one made sense lol)
Fen- The Empress
I really love the reading of El as the Empress, but this one was such a Fen card for me- Maternal archetype, unconditional love and care, facing even daunting tasks with a smile.
Margo- The Emperor
Structure, regulation, ruling with a firm hand. Armor. Yeah. High King Margo.
Fogg- The Heirophant
Keeper of forbidden/secret knowledge, often associated with tradition, institutions, and mentors or teachers. So, Brakebills was the immediate thought for me, and more specifically Fogg.
Kady- The Chariot
Kady was really tough for me, and I kept moving her around, but I like the chariot. The main association is with emotional control/force and mastery of self, which, of all of the main crew Kady is the best person in this camp imo. She’s incredibly disciplined, particularly in this area, hence her proficiency with battle magic.
Josh- Strength
Josh was another tough one for me, but strength deals with the ability to rise above emotion and desire (the “inner beast” if you will), and while that’s not how I would categorize him at first glance, more than one of Josh’s major story beats deal with. kind of that exact thing. oddly enough. So, that plus some symbolism stuff made me really love this one for him.
Penny (specifically 40, i guess)- The Hermit
This one emphasizes being above emotion and desire, which I think maybe he’d like to think he is (he isn’t), but aside from that it also is about deliberate self isolation and sacrifice of one’s old/ material life as a part of a search for wisdom, as well as listing to one’s ‘inner voice’. I think Penny’s isolation is more about protecting himself, but I still really like this one. Also, he literally gives up his life, twice, and as a result becomes Woke Library Man.
Alice- Death
This is actually the first one I drafted, and the second I was absolutely sure about. Death is one of my favorite cards, and deals with transformation, resurrection/rebirth, and chaos, which I feel really encapsulates her whole journey from s1 to s4, with all the different (sometimes literally resurrected) versions of her we see, and her eventual search for redemption (another kind of rebirth) in s4.
Julia- The Star
Funnily enough, I didn’t actually make the hedge connection until after I’d already marked her down for this one. The star is about hope, light, and divinity, particularly in the face adversity and despite maybe having lost sight of the path, which I really, really love for Julia.
Anyways, these are the ones I really want to finish, but I have 5 others I’ve marked down If I get to them. In the mean time, this is proof that I’m actually doing something, even if it takes me ten years and consumes part of my soul along the way.

henlo my lovs it’s ur friendly neighborhood babie again !! thankfully my muse + personal reasons have been sorted so here i am bringing u all a brand new child. he’s v much inspired a fav character of mine (from a play that i wrote !!) so i can say w utmost certaintly that he is a Certified Babie. n e way, u all kno the drill, pls message me on discord or click the lil heart in this post and i’ll throw gian ur way for all d plots !!
[ MUSE 18 ] ●● is that JOSHUA BASSETT? no, that’s just GIAN DONOVAN, the 17 year old CIS MALE who is a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT. some say they’re TEMPESTUOUS AND RETICENT, but their family and friends will swear they’re ALTRUISTIC AND EMPATHETIC. when i think of them, i think of the gentle tattoo of rain in the middle of the night, drywall dust covering bruised knuckles, iced coffee in the morning, chipped nail polish dancing on guitar strings, coming up for air in a swimming pool. i wonder if HIS family knows that HE’S QUESTIONING HIS SEXUALITY. ●●
𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐒 .
full name: gian paul donovan
nickname(s): gi
age: seventeen
date of birth: july 4th
zodiac sign: cancer
place of birth: ashcroft, ma
gender: cis male
sexual orientation: questioning
romantic orientation: questioning
occupation: high school senior
hogwarts house: hufflepuff
𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐆𝐈𝐀𝐍 .
for the longest time, gian was what you’d consider a golden boy of sorts. impressive grades, extremely talented, loved by any authority figure ever, on the road to a getting a college scholarship. literally the one kid every parent wished was their son tbh,
gian is a great listener. i can guarantee you that he’d hear out a total stranger just because they have no one else to reach out to. he always wants to be that person who helps everyone out even if he doesn’t get anything in return
he’s very much the good kid yea, but that’s pretty much all everyone knows about him ?? he doesn’t reveal much about himself, instead choosing to put on that good kid facade in front of everyone
in actuality, gian if far from the perfect image a lot of people have crafted for him. behind his mask he can be... a bit of a mess, and way too emotional for his own good. his temperamental attitude and need to hit things as a coping mechanism has definitely nearly gotten him into trouble many times
his parents’ death has arguably made him feel the worst he’s ever felt. he still tries to be the golden boy but it’s hard when his heart is heavy and his brain if filled to the brim with grief. a lot of the negative parts of him start to show every now and then and it only makes him feel worse.
it doesn’t help that he’s in the middle of a whole ass identity crisis aksjkf nearly a year ago he began dating his best friend. and yea, he genuinely liked her for a while, but it wasn’t until a month into their relationship that began having feelings for a certain boy, which ok for him was WACK because he’s never felt that way before
he broke it off right away tho bc he’s a good boi and didn’t want to lead her on any further. they’re def still best friends and love each other a lot, and she’s been v supportive and helpful while he tries to figure out wtf he is
the one other constant in his life is for sure music. it’s his escape. he can sit for hours just playing on his guitar and if he feels like it, writing a couple of songs. it’s a passion only a handful of people know and in fact, he can count on one hand the number of people who have heard him perform a song he wrote himself
in conclusion: give him a big hug he needs it thanks !!
𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 .
best friend/ex-girlfriend: i might make this a wc if no one snatches it up but basically they’ve been friends forever, but at some point in the beginning of the year they began dating. it only lasted a month because gian told her he was into a guy and was unsure of how he felt about her, but to his surprise she was v supportive. they’re still best friends and there’s no one he loves more in the world
crush: uhhh the boy who sent gian into a giant gay panic !! they could already be friends or maybe they’ve never even talked at all but at some point gian started looking at him differently and now he’s not sure what he is anymore. they’re definitely on gian’s level but he can’t help but think he’s waaaaay out of his league. i just want someone to make gian flustered when he’s around pls
friends: self-explanatory kids he needs some !!
enemies: idk man maybe they just don’t vibe w each other ?? ngl gian might b babie but when he’s mad u don’t wanna fuck w him i promise
literally anything i will give u all my love

soo i have been a naruto fan for a uhhh long ass time (17 years now?) and i was deep in fandom for ages before falling off sometime around the start of the war arc...it started with the emotional blow of losing jiraiya (me and a friend read the chapter when it released and just clung to each other sobbing lol, well written, just sad)...the dumbassery of pain resurrecting everyone.....mr sasuke choosing to honor itachi's legacy with destruction....i had not read it in a bit when my friend called me up to ask if i had read the most recent chapter cuz NEJI DIED and i literally lay on a dark basement couch all day sobbing and was deep in grief like couldn't eat or sleep for like the next 2 weeks....i started reading again in bits to see if neji would resurrect (HE DIDNT) and if his legacy would be honored (....) but whatever it was just endless uchiha clusterfucking so i got bored and dropped again, only really returning for Magical Brother Soulmates naruto and sasuke (#NEJI WAS RIGHT) and then the last chapters to see how it ended and gape at the endgame pairings & inojin, the most bizarre looking mf ...
(At least orochimaru ended up okay and pretty, I decided)
anyways, i've consumed a lot of what i missed in my off periods but one thing i never really consumed was the war arc A) cuz im a filthy bitter neji stan until the day i die B) as someone who crusaded hard for tobi NOT to be obito (as i loved them separately but knew if they were combined i would lose all sympathy and affection) (my naruto forum username was literally tobi-chan) and that twist makes my teeth gnash as it's just kinda a bad character story, obito hate club here, and that leading to aforementioned uchiha gangbanging and SPACE ALIEN REINCARNATION PROPHECY MAGIC, something so utterly divorced from what naruto's story used to be... yeah
(have i ever stopped writing my post series neji lives shikaneji epic tho?? no!)
now the other day i saw a mention was like, kabuto is more dragon then snake. i always did wonder about the horns...so i went to go reread the hilarious kabumaru reveal which led to many a joke back in those old forum days -- the chapter was being weirdly hard to find tho and i kept getting distracted by other chapters referenced on his nwiki page and i ended up reading a lot of his backstory (knew in general but) andwar arc stuff, especially him v itachi n sasuke, which i had missed
And i was like? Oh? Heres kishi writing style I've been missing + maturity gained from time? sasuke calling itachi perfect when itachi sympathizes with kabuto because sasuke is too emotionally immature to have that capacity, the submission of identity to authority that drove them to extremes w kabutachi vs sasuke being driven to extremes by well. trauma induced personality but still, his personality, you know, who he simply is ... sasuke then leading into having to resurrect mentor/parental figure orochimaru and ninja presidents to figure out "who am i" which was really "can i choose to help konoha and pals while still being me"
and theres kabuto...forced to Accept Himself by itachi's brainwashing (itachi, who has always had teeth, always been pleasant, always taught) ... kabuto standing there ... orochimaru (who bore witness to all this drama from his cosy place on anko's neck) feeling so much more tired than he has after any other resurrection, giving kabuto those inscrutable looks, removing his presence from kabuto in an absolution, an apology, a return to self that leaves kabuto looking so young and tired and empty), telling sasuke he's fine how he is and also, still young, knowledge inherently ages you in a way trauma, power, and the passage of years can't
(i cant believe orochimaru was trying to stop sasuke for his own purposes. he manipulated sasuke but he never stopped him. ntm following that path allowed orochimaru to get his arms back and just have some fun trolling the mage, so it was a path for from detrimental to him.)
he wants sasuke to keep what childhood, what sentimentality he can -- again, acting the parent
and there's kabuto still. a 'brother son student'* to him, one of his oldest orphans, a follower so loyal and useful orochimaru would never make a vessel out of him even when desperate, and yet kabuto in his search for identity did it anyways -- (remember how he offered himself to oro, back in that whole rotting arms, late sasuke era?) and later orochimaru essentially tells his old teacher (a parental figure to himself) that the reason he's gonna bat for the good guys is because he saw what Trying To Be Like Him led kabuto and the world to, and he wants to, essentially, do better with this child under his charge and instead of imposing his will, see what sasuke can do with All The Knowledge At His Disposal
he told kabuto to form a self around knowledge, but it was knowledge for sake of power ... a descent to madness he himself took from a quiet, helpful child ... as character parallels go, orochimaru has very little in common with sasuke and much more in common with kabuto
"shape them in his own image ..."
now orochimaru was never guardian of the year, what with the fufufu-ing and child experiments, but i disagree with assumptions that the loyalty he inspired was entirely down to Stockholm or fear, because at the end of the day, orochimaru did as many horrific experiments on himself as he did unto others. leadership thru example.
then there's kabuto. kabuto who has hated, tried to kill, resented, feared orochimaru, but also kabuto who also loved and admired orochimaru, saw him as his home, was someone whose company he generally seemed to enjoy, someone he wanted to both be and surpass. someone inspiring
kabuto and orochimaru are alike, so kabuto tried to supplant his identity with the assumption that being alike = having walked the same path = being identical and eventually had to face that he couldn't both love orochimaru and be him, that it was a twisted mirror, that all he has ever been or would ever be was someone who had to make his decisions based not on history or blood or origin or culture, but on what made him happy
so, the orphanage, a home that does not move or die, a brother whom he can love and admire who is so different from him its not a twisted mirror ... a kabuto and orochimaru who do not seem to have interacted in a very long time, but for the whole, they didnt exactly part hatefully or on bad terms, and thus a kabuto who could just as easily make the choice to never see orochimaru again as he could to see orochimaru, if he wants to, if he's sure enough in his own identity to not worry about losing himself again ... he finally has choice, even if he, orochimaru, and sasuke are all restrained by the ethical limits of konoha atm
and uh yeah characters who struggle with their identity & the control others can then exert over them are a favourite of mine?
so what this memoir/meta tl;dr is is just me working out my thoughts this fine friday morning on how yakushi kabuto has, like, objectively, one of the best character arcs in all of naruto -- hell, maybe THE best, and i am sorry to have missed it when it was coming out because just. damn. that's good writing, y'all!

InSite of the town
Melbourne is a small, attractive, appealing and historic settlement, with a vibrant and varied social mix and a strong community spirit.
During the period c1770 – c1890 Melbourne grew from an agricultural village into a small and prosperous manufacturing town.
This Georgian market town is in South Derbyshire on the edge of The National Forest. It is about 8 miles south of Derby and 2 miles from the River Trent.
This town has maintained its popularity as a lively, thriving village and home to 5000 inhabitants.
Melbourne means 'Mill Stream' so it is appropriate that one of the best known features is the old mill pool known as Melbourne Pool, picturesquely landscaped in 1845 for Lord Melbourne, the former Prime Minister (1779-1848).
It was said that in 1947 ‘there were more thatched cottages in Melbourne than in any village’, although sadly, many have disappeared since then.
The Melbourne festival
Arts Melbourne Limited, a company limited by guarantee, was set up to run Melbourne Festival On 1 January 2008.
Melbourne is centrally located between Derby, Nottingham and Leicester in the East Midlands. The postcode for Melbourne town centre is DE73 8DS.
Melbourne Festival became a trading name of Arts Melbourne Limited. The principal reason for doing this was that there are arts related activities, such as Open Exhibitions, the Gallery and Workshops which need a different approach and publicity and are outside the September Melbourne Festival period.
Melbourne festival hosts professional artists selling paintings, sculpture, furniture, print making, textiles, ceramics, design craft, drawing etc.
Melbourne Festival aims to organise and run an annual festival of visual and performing arts in Melbourne and the surrounding district.
Melourn artists are:
William Dexter, painter, was born there in 1808 and
Ronald Pope, sculptor and artist.
A quick brief, overview
Melbourne festival happens every year, although this year they had a dramatic change of plans, the atmosphere will be quiet different and specific measures will be taken because of COVID 19.
For example:
Architecture Trail was cancelled
They are still doing the Melbourne Festival Emerging Artist Award which is going to be exhibited in a gallery space, with art from different people and also from the derby college art and design students who were 2nd years last year.
The gallery will be open for people to go in, see the art and vote for the best. Melbourne will definitely be taking measures and set rules for health and safety reasons, e.g., keeping distance, sanitizing the hands before and after going in, having a one way system and they might do an online exhibition too. All of this will take place so COVID 19 would not spread further.
Afterall the good news is that we are still going ahead with our 1st project, the guerrilla art. Although we need to approach this project and others more cautiously too.
We need to know that
Sharon is the customer of Melbourne festival and we will need to fit around whatever thy would ask us to do.
Whatever idea they chose we would probably need to do it alone and not in pares or groups, so we need to consider the time when choosing an idea.
We were also informed that not all of the places and buildings will be available to us, only a few properties have chosen to give permission for our wok to be placed at so it is most likely that Sharon will already have some places in mind where our work could be installed.
Last thing last is that we need to know about the weather forecast and think about the materials we could use.
We need to do
We need to come up with a lot of ideas and show them to our costumer as soon as possible.
Use tumbler to display everything important.
One of the most liked idea from our costumer is making of different kinds of posters. The hand drawn letter forms arranged in words, statement or phrases that we could express what is in our mind from current affairs, news over the last 12 months; we need to refined those into sentences written with beautiful lettering in a form of a poster, which could be: a painted poster, printed poster, relief 3 dimensional poster etc.
It also needs to be A1 or A2.
Make notes in our sketchbook and journals.
Make action plans.
We need to deal with the formal elements: lines, shapes, colours etc.
Answering questions about the projects from one of the sessions that i voice recored
Do we need to talk about our inspirations behind the ideas?
We are really interested to knowing where the ideas came from, use tumbler, sketchbook, drawings, journal anything that will communicate your ideas, what you would like to put into a space. Really the costumer will be happy enough to see your ideas but it will definitely help you on selling the ideas better if you had a little brief explanation of them.
Exactly, what is the theme about?
Originally the theme is about 'commotion in the ocean', although our clients have been really open minded and interested on to seeing any kinds of ideas that will be about the current affairs, especially since a lot has happened and changed throughout this year e.g., the blm movement, corona virus, climate change, global leadership, anything that you would like to express. These ideas and themes can be used for the Derby Well project too.
What are our limits, when it comes to choosing the place where our posters and artwork will go?
Melbourne is big and last year several people agreed on us to use their buildings, the outside or/and the inside of the buildings to display our art work. This year because of the global pandemic not many people have offered up these opportunities, however there were some shop owners that offered us their shop fronts and there will be some outdoor spaces around town too. That is why Sharon ended up choosing the poster ideas because of how easily it could be displayed and how powerfully it could communicate a message across to the audience.
She is the one who knows about the offered places where our art could be displayed at. Sharon is also talking about reducing the amount of locations, where instead of having our work spread across the city, we could bomb a whole window full of posters, and do this for all the available places and shop windows in the city. So overall Sharon would love if the poster ideas would happen and if there is something eye catching from your other ideas that might be perfect when installed in specific locations like the bus stop or hanged from building to building she will definitely inform us. So don’t worry because everyone will have a piece of their work into the festival and on their cv.
Do they both, the Derby Well and Melbourne festival prefer the typographical poster ideas?
Yes. There were a handful of you that were sending ideas over the summer and over everything that was send they really liked the ideas of the posters too, so there will be continuation of posters around Derby as well.
Tumbler, why are we using it, what do we post?
Tumblr has been used every year by us, also the UAL really likes it when it comes to assessing your work in the end of the year. I think now days, because of the pandemic, Tumblr and other online platforms are the best when it comes to doing your work as a group of designers and artists, without endangering other people, it also allows us to quickly asses and give feedback and is a grate platform for you to show the world what you do as a designer and/or an artist.
You do need to be careful not to duplicate what is on your book or on your journal, instead you can use it as a blog, a magazine, or a fanzine. And you should definitely put what your work is about, the context, what the brief is asking you to make, communicate what's on your mind, put some of your ideas and in the end you should definitely share your final outcome with us. You can talk about how its finished , your output as a creative person, write texts and share images, whatever you see fit.
My response
This project will allow me to understand, regenerate ideas and look more into our ocean and the different species that live there. It will also allow us to show the audience how important these waters are to humanity, how they affect climate change and how we are slowly killing the life in the ocean and soon ourselves. The ocean plays a big role in our lives because it produces over half of the world’s oxygen and absorbs 50 times more carbon dioxide than our atmosphere, it also helps regulate temperatures as the oceans absorbs the sun’s heat, transfers it to the atmosphere and then distributing it around the world, acting like a heater in the winter and an air conditioner in the summer. There are a lot of natural products from marine/ocean plants and animals which we use in medicinal products, including ingredients that help fight cancer, arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease, and heart disease
After doing some research around the ocean, I came across a large number of endangered species; whether they were nearly getting extinct because people killed them for parts, for food, or killed them with illegal fishing equipment, or some were forced to leave their habitats because of the amount of people invading their spaces, that was simply an alarming information. The disgusting amount of pollution we are caucusing and the damaging waste we bring to the ocean due to the harmful activities we do, disgusts me, overall, the conclusion is that we are suffocating our oceans and not just them put our whole planet and later on in life all of these activities will kill the human race too.
The task we were given fits perfectly with the 'commotion in the ocean' theme because guerrilla art is allowing us to make work about the recurring issues that are happening around the world and affecting our oceans, we can make a strong statement, speak up, raise awareness and educate people on this topic. This will also enable us to focus on the changes we can make and how we can encourage people to think about their actions and how they should do something to reduce pollution, global warming, overfishing etc.
While exploring this topic I will try to remain relevant to the audience, because our art will be installed around the Melbourne town which will be seen by a large and varied audience, including children, families, elderly etc., I need to make it suitable, appropriate and understandable for all ages, I also hope it delivers the same message to everyone and to stay in topic. To make sure that happens I have to focus, make contextual research, evaluate, analyze, have plenty of secondary and primary pictures, experiment, think about the right materials and make sure to plan ahead. This will be helpful for my future projects too.

Movie Syndrome’s Film of The Hour” London Fields “DIRECTOR’S CUT.” 2019
The only time to watch and review The Director's Cut of London fields is now: within a human species post-crisis, so novel to that species that there is no occurrence leave alone a record. Its the only time that London Fields makes more than just sense, total sense. It is now our new potential mirror and or X-ray machine for our so called"New Normal." It can be London but it can be any city, town, enclave of human dissonance.
As a child I went to the school of life though films presented by the great Alex Cox, on his Moviedrome show, I was introduced to precursors to the coming influx of Neo-90's Noir. Narratives that coiled around its characters with the love of hungry anacondas; stories from the shrades of the social human fringe; men and women alike gleefully hapless or broken, souls just seeking to steal their inevitabilities from fate and make it their own - as if that some how made thier doom bearable.
Films where pale shadows crowded the celluloid frame even they were alone they were just paler than the crowd.
London fields so reminds me of this vein of filmmaking. In Neo-90's noir people were incapable of making anyone happy, not even themselves, or anyone else, they either new it and would violently seek irony, or just detraction, or simply some air of self-appointed cleverness about their failures: their philosophy the wisdom of one's own doom is better than the ignorance of it (as if that helps).
It was a joy to feel like a kid watching films I shouldn't be watching, with the sound turned down low, so parents in bed don't wake, listening to an intro by the great Alex Cox, and the prototypes of the coming 90's noir. This is what it felt like watching London Fields.
The first shot had dance in its guts, the first sign of a good director, making sure the audience know s/he cares. I was reassured and sat back in comfort knowing I don't have to be anxious. Few films know how to utilize stock footage, or some films over use it, some just don't respect it, we may see more of it since the big plague of 2020 hit planet earth. The now infamous "C" word hit just 4 months after I saw it in 2019 on the eve of the UK election that would decide the fate of thousands literally and of the new London that I am now living through. This is why London Fields Directors cut must be watched post-global pandemic, post London post human incubation, post human global coma, wake up and watch it!
The true value of London Fields is in its ability to be relevant externally, not just internally, it will be talked about for decades as the greatest film-restructuring/ turnaround since George Miller saved Mad Max 4 from september 11th. As long as London is here with a new normal that a film and book called London Fields possibly predictive like Nostradamus "pre" and mid plague predictions. Like Daniel's predictions of the fourth beast, that is a president of the free world advising people to drink bleach as it cures plague like some victorian charlatan-witch-doctor.
Talking of victorian London look out for a wonderful Fagan meets Sid-Vicious like surprise, it will remain a surprise as I will not spoil it , you will have to watch it. Remember the advent of dvd extras where the story behind the story became King and queen, well here is your story behind the story of London Fields the coiling fluid labyrinth that this director's cut had to circumvent and master at the same time, is in itself a book, a film maybe a trilogy. It then becomes a matrix for the films ability to gracefully scream with silent pain, palpable in its starving human waifs, the population of jagged grizzled shadows of an old world, just like a pre-covid London.
My story:
- I waited 5 years to watch the director's cut, as I knew this would be the film to watch, I know from day zero, that this would be the definite splice, I am glad I waited, but i had no other option. More importantly I am glad I waited to be one of the fortunate survivors of the real London apocalypse to be able to write a review worthy of note.
Filming locations:
During the pandemic I walked around the many locations that London Fields filmed in, like Brixton where I grew up, and I went to bulk buy food, part of my post apocalyptic preppers protocol. I'm a prepper by nature so I had bought my ffp3 mask months before. I actually gave a health and safety threat and risk consultation to a filmmaker heading to Ebola hit Lagos, I said "Make sure you have 3 meters on everyone and every surface so only the soles of your shoes need chlorine (the only chem that degrades DNA) I didn't call it social distancing I called it don't get Ebola. Here we are fortunate it was not Ebola that hit world and London Fields. I bought food in bulk buying is very different from panic buying, but I can't judge london is pretty but pretty tough to live in.
London Fields Anatomy:
+ Matrix: When I say The Matrix of London fields I speak about the meta-mould, London is the ideal place to film an apocalypse, London was once the capital of the world since Britannia once owned most of the world. Location location location is everything.
+Concept: You can have a concept of any thing a concept of concept itself , a concept of the idea of a principal. Why not start with the concept of human nature, give our nature enough rope and we will hang ourselves and each everyone else in the room , but why is the nicely investigated by Bill Bob Thornton's character. This rope reaches the macro space to the micro of all the individual characters.
+ Basis: I have a feeling much like the basis for the characters in "Withnail and I" the writer Ames, the author of the book, he has based these characters on the transients that peppered his life in London.
+ Grounds: There are sub-cultures of ravaged souls who make the characters even in the book look pale in comparison - art always mimics life not the other way round.
+Criteria: The criteria is to capture a credible cinematic vignette of a very wild book
+ Responsibility: There is an integrity of context well policed diegetically and in the non diegetic space. The director is now renowned for policing this context which was under threat when islamic content (there's that other "C" word) was misaligned with pornography to create a pornography, the legal battle that ensued was only fueled by this particular mismanagement of content with no context.
+ |Sense of place "This is London"
London is hit by hyperinflation, social controls, shortages, poverty, mass unemployment, Social Unrest, divisions, divergency of schisms, social branching in to pockets of gang pods.
+Pattern of capacity: is potent disconcerting X-ray machine to the lower digestive system, beyond the ice-tipped persona of innocence, the bystander, observer, storyteller. It peels back the plasters wrapped around the slick wounds, and it does it finger by finger of London's inner ducts, where its appendix once was.
The shadows of a cosmopolitan gas chamber known as London slither and preen the boiling social swampy waves seeking their nothings in what they see as somethings', goals that are obvious traps or not so obvious. They leave patterns of psycho-splatter across the corridors of doom-drowned doors with no one able to reach their goals and no one capable of making each other happy but, even though deep down they know it, they still pursue against instinct better judgment. They have to, as if they don't we would not have any drama.
This is Kitch satire the likes of which spilled out of neo-grungy scenes of the 90's neo noir, but its interesting to see this in a London steamy punky setting, rather than Hollywoodland.
Highlights of the film is an interesting crossing of the 180 degree line, which is always a tricky area.
In London Fields the human ice-berg is built almost entirely out of constellations of man and woman's failure points, we are left with the question simply what will drive us, what will keep us going after the discovery of these failure points.
I: Inspiration by the challenge to put a x-ray, a mirror in front of the face of London as a gateway to the face of the wider world
W: WHy do this film? Well every couple of years in intervals where London is begging for this mirror so lets provide it.
V: The vision was to engineer an exposing investigation of the ghosts of London all the way to their souls and their soul-engines.
M: Mission was to find the cast and support structure to manifest this vision
S-T: The strategy to tactical synergy was to turn the motion of this story in to an serendipitous dance off the page of the book on to the cinema screen.
Vision: To make a respectable cool potently socially vital potency vignette that a 2 hour film cna do for the many pages of a book
Strategy: To go in with fervent dedication leveraging years of mastering skill of marrying music and image, and an industry that forces the discipline of story.
B: Diegetic: Why do these characters do what they do, human beings have drives from baseline to top line drives, these drives are constantly hungry, convergent and divergent simultaneously. where do we put drives, what do we do with them, where will they go
The characters with doomed naive seek happy endings for their drives, in doing so misd judge everyone. The souls here are using chess strategies to leverage their needs and clear the road of others in their path creating an emotionally psychologically all-in-ring wrestling match everyone eliminating each other.
- Agility: The agility is not just in the films dynamic rehabilitative turnaround but agility in characterisation of the most hyper-wild surreal characters in a book nicely done by Jim Sturgess fagan meets sid vicious sex-pistols. And Johnny Depps Cockney-Rockabilly predator.
5.- kudoi: The Synecdoche: Here is with the director has managed to perform if not one of but maybe the most important Innovation Turnaround in the history of cinema. This could be the making of a new career. It is a career I went into recently I have performed it on other films myself but never had to do it on my own.
6.- Innovation: The director holds the mantle on the most strategic siege-craft innovation since those valiant thanes of the 5th century, took the gabled hall to siege in King Fin's realm of friesland; that young King of Denmark Heanerf with with 60 retainers went to visit his sister, recently married in peace weaving in Frankish lands, and for reasons yet to be disclosed to us, is put to seige in a gabled hall. It is an example in history where siegecraft worked. Matthew Cullen would have had to must some ancient type of lock-jaw dedication to pursue a siege craft of 5 years. with an army of producers, investors and compounding resistance.
7.- leadership side: The leadership it requires to execute a turnaround on a business is Herculean. There are 5 stages to a turnaround 0. People 1. Runaway - Leverage Cash runnaw 2. Technical engineering 3. Value chain strategy: add value - take away value - modify underlying value 4. Finalizing product market fit and fitness to execute a cut 5. New Campaign 6. Re-delivery. Just like in the film the characters all see themselves as leaders but they are ultimately proxy-puppets of a greater chess game.
8.- assertiveness: The director asserts with a five year kung-fu grip to show that the little voice in the milestone of a crocodile culture of producers, investors and meta-investors that the little voice can shout the loudest when it counts. It can do this when it is important, when our voice must protect the unicorns gallop and leave our creativity factory, we must do this so they don;t fall down the cracks.
In the film we see actors forging their stamps on their portrayals, of characters seertingthier desperations on each other's visions of happiness.
9.- Resonance of Messaging:brand Matthews Brand is potent authenticity of creativity this resonates in his film-turnaround and in the realignment of creative assets in,most in the alignments
10. Positive magnet respect attract positive Providence: The Universe has shined on Matthew and his valiant journey as the results have shown that it was on his side
LONDON FIELDS GLOSSARY:
- Conceptuals: What if you apply business turnaround to your own film not just someone's film but your own. Inside the film the concept
- Concept of principle: The core principle was constant unbridled constant pulse of exposure of warts and all innards of post-social apocalyptic jagged humanity character by character.
- Context: The Meta Post-Apocalypse: the after-party to the aftermath of London.
- Grounds: Matthew had good grounds to purser this Colonel kurtz-like mission his unicorns had been dropped down the
- Reach - if it is made more clear where to find the directors cut this will be king, .
- Inimitability: Anyone trying to imitate this will stick out like a pik zeblinp
- replayability: There is plenty here to study and restudy and this is the best master class in Film Turnaround making Matthew Cullen the most history making CFO of London Fields successfully restructured like LEGO brick By Brick (Which is also an interesting book on how lego turned themselves around in 5 years).
- Accessibility: There is plenty here to make accessible to wider audiences with lots of help from Johnny Depp providing magnetic rockabilly-cockney psycho-menace
- Principle: Waste nothing and produce more with as little as possible.
Vision mission
: Apex-Crux: A poetic battle manual in overcoming the cataclysm-apocalyptic crushing of your family as a consequences of the poisonous chains of criminology.
- Idea: Human nature builds cunning paths of self-sabotage for itself knowingly and unknowingly and its infectious.
- Theme(s): self-infliction, sabotatge, self-sabotage
- Terms of understanding: the terms of understanding here are though the pattern of traffic between peoples' enemy within how they clash and
- Dance: The film is nicely dancing
- sculpture : There is a sense of engineering finess to the this cut that reaches between the small life of characters and the wider outside world that is out there somewhere but hasn't been seen in a long time and and clearly is not missed. 4
- Signature: The signature here the brand the unique finger print is garishly distinct defined unmistakable, flamboyant graish clever use nourish pop-kitch-
- Innovation: There is an interesting way that Matthew Cullen breaks the 180 line look out for it, Jim Sturges Innovative contribution to a now infamous Sid -Vicious meets Fagan mashup is no legend.
--------------------->
- Communication: The colours seem to be the some of the most dominant communicator in London
- Message: Warnings of not just the soul's emotional vulnerability of people, the hazard of peoples problems, but the hazard of a now victorian like London
- Language
- Conveyance - Shape
Nuance: Nuance swells in the misery that Billy Bob Thornton carries around, it hangs like the unsucked cigarette smoke constantly trailing his character's
- Ethos: The Directors ethos is the first rule of any endeavor is never give up! Once the mission was demanded to turn the film around this rule become law so taking names off a film are not part of this ethos. The Films' ethos everything is available.
- idiosyncrasy: The positions of satirical use of nourish pop--kitch is so uni
- ethics: The direct fought to remedy inflammatory scenes IN the original cut there were scenes where religion is explicitly juxat
- Responsibility: There is obvious responsibility to do just ice to the book, but also to the characters and how the actors navigate this, then there is London, one of the most if not the most unique city in the world.
- Code: Its code of conduct is to never let you rest to corrugate the constant exposure of the shades of core characters and new characters both minor and major.

heyho, hi ! i’m incredibly late jane ( pls just ignore that the accepted post says sylvia .. i was v insecure if u catch my drift ), twenty, she & her and from the glorious gmt+2 tz. along with being an avid dc & marvel fan, memes cause 90% of my laughs which .. is sad now that i think about it but Anyways ! you’re here for shiloh and not me ( mayhaps a little bit. here’s to hoping right. ) read below at ur own risk, you’ve been warned alright .. also if you want to plot just hmu or like this & i’ll im you later !
SHILOH HARTELL — wait, you mean the AMETHYST ? yeah, i’ve heard of HER before. they’re a TWENTY-ONE year old DANIELLE CAMPBELL lookalike and identify as DEMIGIRL. people often describe them as THE ARCANE of this island. i definitely agree, though. i mean, not to be rude or anything but shiloh can be kinda PEREMPTORY and PARADOXICAL, but everyone has their bad days. however, they’re also TRUSTWORTHY and DILIGENT, which makes people admire them so much. i guess what i’m trying to say is that they’re a true gem.
BACKGROUND ( TW: CAR ACCIDENT, COMA & ALCOHOL/SMOKING MENTION )
first things first .. you can click on each word to find shiloh’s bio & headcanons but i don’t want u to waste five mins of your life so i’ll try to cut it down to three. SKSKJ
besides that i’m actually kind of proud of this kind of social media page ?? so mayhaps look at it .. if u want.
really getting started now though
born april hartell in toronto in 1996, before her younger brother june was born one year later.
( for the sake of .. lbr everything i’ll just go on calling her shiloh bc otherwise it’ll be too confusing w/ april & shiloh ) in her early yrs shiloh used to envy june and the way their parents always preferred him, but fast forward to now and shiloh’s soo very glad they did. she taught herself numerous things she probably would have never considered if she wasn’t “ignored” a good few months and even after she brought up being left out to her parents it continued.
when shiloh was twelve, her brother was diagnosed with copd or more commonly known as smoker’s lung, an obstructive lung disease which only caused the family dynamic to spiral down.
after the news sunk in the hartell’s did everything for their brother/son and during those times shiloh and june actually grew close. shiloh mostly took care of her brother when their parents went out or simply had to recharge. ( the next few sentences are from her bio bc it’s 2am n i’m tired bear with me plS ) nonetheless graduating was just as important as taking care of june. shiloh has been known as some kind of a contradiction during her school years, always being excessively studious and getting straight a’s while being surrounded by other popular kids due to being the cheerleading co-captain. at the time her schoolmates didn’t know anything about shiloh’s home life as she preferred to keep it that way. hanging out with them gave her a few hours of calmness, despite most of them trashing other people’s property or trying to set her up with the most basic but popular guy, until they realized she apparently had no interest in any form of relationship. but what no one, except for her brother, knew was that shiloh in fact had a friends with benefits agreement with some messed up guy from a local university. shiloh always told june it wasn’t serious in the slightest and she probably wouldn’t even talk to him if he didn’t have his own demons to deal with.
shiloh always blamed her father for june’s disease as it was caused by him smoking every day and having june next to him almost all the time. while shiloh never wanted to become like her father, years later she believes she did despite trying truly everything not to.
at age eighteen shiloh changed her name legally, now using april as a middle name and nickname for her parents to use. ( once again copied from her bio rip ) ever since graduating shiloh started making videos to compensate for the lack of other distractions, as she wasn’t interested in meaningless hookups anymore either. being exposed to even more knowledge and terms than before, the brunette found herself more and more.
while spiralling down due to constant pressure at home and online shiloh had weak moments of consuming too much alcohol which only caused to cloud her judgement. it was june’s eighteenth birthday when shiloh made a fatal mistake, driving while intoxicated caused their car to hit a tree and damage its occupants.
it wasn’t until one month later that shiloh woke up from a coma, as disorientated and concerned as ever. when she caught the sight of her brother without any severe injuries shiloh was finally able to breathe normally again, not realizing her heart rate went up significantly just moments before.
even though june always claimed the crash didn’t worsen his condition, shiloh kept blaming herself just like she blamed their father for what he did to her younger brother. during that time shiloh started seeing similarities between herself and him that didn’t even exist.
once again distancing herself from her family shiloh put out more and more videos. as she gained subscribers rapidly, shiloh decided to talk about her private life for the first time publicly, hoping it’ll help people in similar situations.
getting mostly positive feedback and encouraging comments, shiloh approached her family again. she tried making peace with her own mind about everything that happened in the past, almost promising herself to not act the same way ever again.
as june’s condition got worse year after year, it hit its lowest point in 2016. no temporary treatment helped and the family’s former inherited fortune shrunk every year after trying one high-priced experimental endeavour prior to another. shiloh and her family got closer during that time once again, but her parents also insisted on her being able to have a life on her own.
while applying to the closest car shop to become a mechanic, shiloh cut all ties to social media in the process after making one last youtube video explaining why.
as her family heard of the gem theory they believed it’d be for a good cause to set shiloh up for it. being skeptical at first, shiloh put more thought into it. what if it meant the money she’d receive could be used for yet another attempt at finding a cure for her brother, or even the organization itself developing one ? after a few tests shiloh was all too familiar with, the result of being a perfect fit for the project surprised her to a degree. while hoping to partake in the experiment for the sake of her younger brother, shiloh simultaneously didn’t want to leave her hometown for the very same reason. having a long talk with june, however, convinced shiloh to be a part of the gem theory. still being skeptical, she hoped for some kind of silver lining.
PERSONALITY ( TW: ALCOHOL & SMOKING MENTION )
as mentioned above shiloh is very eager to learn about basically everything. she always needs something to keep her occupied. as megan abbott once wrote there's something dangerous about the boredom of teenage girls and while the quote is only semi-fitting it definitely can be used to describe shiloh’s high school years, always fooling around and screwing up while maintaining this picture perfect kind of image as co-captain of the cheer squad and a straight a student.
contradiction has always been a big part of shiloh, balancing between two stereotypes if you will: nerd vs. popular kid, first born vs. being the “lesser” child, being incredible romantic vs. meaningless hookups, keeping all feelings in vs. letting them all out at once, not believing in anything that can’t be touched/seen vs. believing in aliens.
absolutely despises cigarettes, blunts and everything else that can be smoked.
believes that wearing glitter as highlighter takes her closer to the stars and aliens.
the only alcoholic beverage she regularly consumes is any type of red wine.
for the first time in her life, shiloh’s been away from her family for more than a month. while appreciating being able to live her own life, homesickness hits her a lot.
shiloh’s a very structured person, disliking chaos and things that don’t seem to make any sense. suffering from ocd especially intensifies the former along with spending up to an hour with things such as rearranging belongings again and again, something others probably wouldn’t even notice. back when shiloh did youtube videos those had to have a certain length as well, sometimes even having to be re-filmed.
being on the island gives shiloh a bad taste in her mouth more often than not with everything that happened. as she’s a person who doesn’t necessarily likes being observed after her online presence, shiloh’s reminding herself of the promise she gave her family of not returning without anything more than ever.
this was all soo v serious omfg. but have this little fun ig tidbit that the only meme shiloh’s familiar with is that snl sketch dear sister bc she used to love the o.c. which inspired it so have that. keysmash
WANTED CONNECTIONS
alrigHT this is not to toot my own horn bc Yikes ! MXALDKS but i’m best at brainstorming and rambling when it comes to connections but will try to add some general ones to this part later or tomorrow as in monday bc it’s already past 3am n i’m [ madison beer vc ] dead.

Hashtags & Social Media Revolutionizing Change
The hashtag phenomenon began on August 23, 2007, on Twitter by Chris Messina. It has been over ten years since the introduction of hashtags; however, I’m speechless in how far and revolutionizing it has become. Back then, little did society know the impactfulness and differences a simple hashtag can do. Furthermore, the combination of a hashtag and social media can create. However, hashtag movements are designed for a reason. It’s a way for individuals, groups, and communities to share their information with the public, allowing them to raise their voices and make a difference.
Hashtag and social media do not only create groups or a community but also brings them together. Hashtags on social media have the ability to bring individuals with like minds, interests, and passions together. In this blog, we’ll talk about the hashtag #effyourbeautystandards and how it brought women of all age and color to come together and resist societal view on modern beauty. It is essential to acknowledge that social media is not only a platform for communication but multitude purposes such as strength, reason, and identity. It allows us to connect with anyone around the world, opening opportunities, and solving problems that seem impossible. Furthermore, social media and hashtags can develop ones’ self and identity. It can give them a purpose, and strive upon their ideologies establishing uniqueness and change.
What is #effyourbeautystandards
It is a hashtag movement pushing back on modern beauty pressed upon both women and men. The #effyourbeautystandards campaign was launch in 2013 by a model named Tess Holliday, who is a plus-sized model changing the fashion industry with her looks and fashion. The hashtag was a way to revolt against the fashion industry that stated to individuals that you can’t be beautiful if you happen to be over a size ten. She wanted everyone to embrace his or her daring fashion and body, and oppose society’s constriction (Gordon, 2016). She quoted, “We’ll will take back our right to be a total babe regardless of our size…big OR small we all deserve to feel beautiful”. Within days, the #effyourbeautystandards circulated and appeared in over a million Instagram pictures. This movement allowed women to share positive images of themselves and find support from others all around the world (Peoples, 2016). Most importantly, there are more to the #effyourbeautystandards movement than revolting against standard beauty; it combats the issue of feminism, changes society’s outlook, and forms real change.
Society’s Standards Are Toxic
Society’s projection on modern beauty brings a toll on a woman or man’s self-esteem. For the past decades, there’s always has been a great emphasis on how women should look, which has been primarily proliferated through the media (Ossola, 2010). In today’s society, women are constantly bombarded to attain a standard of beauty, and the unrealistic beauty standards give women a sense of worthlessness. It forces women to exercise excessively, take diet pills, diet, binge, and purge and develop eating disorders. As the media constantly surrounds us, we construct our identities through the images we perceive. It controls how women should feel about themselves and how they are prisoners in their own body.
Resisting Media’s Mainstream Beauty Standards
This hashtag offers women the opportunity and hopes that beauty does not pertain to one size but multiple shapes, looks, and sizes. It encourages women that their body is beautiful and they shouldn't be ashamed of it. It inspires other young women and men to follow their steps. It's inspiring to see how social media and the digital sphere were once not a safe space for body positivity, but now through this hashtag, it has become a body positivity movement (22 WORDS STAFF).
Not Alone
Although Tess Holliday has started the movement, many other reputable women are continuing to fight the change of society’s beauty standards. Iskra Lawrence is a plus-sized model for Aerie who regularly promotes self-love and body positivity through social media. Ashley Graham is another plus-sized model that cultivates beauty goes beyond size through interviews and social media. Lastly, Olakemi is model and founder of the #PlusIsDiverse movement who promotes acceptance, love of all body types, and diversity.
Fat is a Feminist Issue
The #effyourbeautystandards movement opens the doors to so many issues that are wrong with society today. It signifies that fat is a feminist issue because fat women are an embodiment of what our patriarchal society insists that women should not be" (Brown, 2018). Fat women are considered second-class citizens and treated differently than those who are slimmer. For example, fat women lack in clothing options, seen as the second choice in employment, paid less, judged, and verbally harassed on the streets. To make the matter worse, they are considered to be "less desirable" to look at. Therefore, the hashtag movement is imperative because it provides women to have a collective voice especially since a woman's place in society has always been hidden or invisible. For centuries, a woman's place was in the kitchen cooking or cleaning the house. The hashtag embarks women to upheaval to societal expectations, and slowly change society's mindset.
Loving Oneself
It's challenging to accept one's body when growing up in an Asian household and community. The rule was that if you were bigger than a size four, you were considered obese and ugly. I felt as if everyone were mocking me of my size whenever I went out. That's why this movement holds close to my heart. It's incredible to see how this movement and the power of social media can project confidence to young individuals. I'm envious of this woman's confidence being able to post this photo and loving her body. Hence, communities like these constructs modern individuals identities. It gives them purpose, love, and recognition.
Spreading The Issue
Since the launch of the #effyourbeautystandards in 2013, other hashtags have emerged following its’ step. In South Korea, the hashtag #escapethecorest was founded. It encouraged women to destroy their cosmetics and cut their long hair, in order to rebel against the country’s long-held ideals of beauty standards they’ve been subjected to in a male-dominated country (Lee, 2019). Another famous hashtag is the #Metoo movement.
Final Thoughts
The hashtag #effyourbeautystandards makes a difference in our generation and changes long. It explores that there are more to society’s viewpoint on standard beauty. By changing society’s viewpoint, we open doors to self-love and greater forms of beauty standards for younger generations to appreciate and acknowledge. Also, it is a space allowing young individuals to feel beautiful. It’s amazing to see the relationships formed and encouragements are given to young women struggling with self-acceptance. However, there will always be counterattacks on this movement. Tess Holiday was attacked for promoting an unhealthy lifestyle, and there will be individuals that continue to fat-shame others online such as Canadian comedian Nicole Arbour. Nicole Arbour posted a video online claiming fat shaming is not a thing, but a concept made up by obese people (Hetter, 2015). However, it is crucial we overcome these negative connotations from networked counterpublics and strive for acceptance of all women of color, size, shape, and ethnicity.

AMELIA C. BONES, TWENTY, PRE-LAW.
pre-law student!!! wants to save the world, find justice, etc etc
forensics and psychology double minor bc she wanted to be able to help piece together a crime herself lmao like if she’s in court she wants to be able to understand the evidence she’s given as well as the thought processes of her clients, she seeks out to understand people and circumstance and i have a lot of thoughts abt this
father is an officer for the scotland yard. mom’s an event planner, her faves are weddings and amelia loves helping out. she essentially got her mother’s bossiness and way of leading people and her father’s taste for action and justice — but overall the bones are a solid middle class family who just all inherently seem to seek out change in the world
edgar (26) is still an investigative journalist who wants 2 change and help educate the world. hopes to eventually win a pulitzer. dramatic af and recovering near-alcoholic. married to a lovely woman named rachel and has one son with a daughter on the way
(still normal: amelia loves her nephew more than almost anything in life, is perpetually posting pictures and videos of cute stuff he does in a thread she has going on twitter dedicated to him. beginning w his first day of preschool and catching up 2 the first time he caught a fish. 10/10 would be my fave thread on twitter)
imogen (17), high school senior and wannabe marine biologist. plans on saving the whales. super intimidating but super sweet and way smarter than most of her family. whoops
known for throwing peace signs in pictures when she’s drunk, eventually became a habit sober and isn’t ironic anymore but at least it seems like it is. loves the what in tarnation meme, unironically enjoyed glee, still loves elvis. normal amelia may not be, but modern amelia loves conspiracy theories and welcome to night vale/x-files kinda shit
her fashion is SO V FEMININE. heels and skirts and dresses and she loves fashion ok (helps w alice’s girlband’s Look). also loves tattoos like she has a bunch scattered all over her from this between her shoulder blades to a spanish phrase her mom always said on her ribs to smth on her ankle, back of her neck, and just around her hip bone. a couple ear piercings but nothing too out there otherwise tbh
the kind of activist who is the one getting in heated debates during class and attending marches and potentially shoving fliers in your face bc everyone else is too afraid to do it. like arguably the image of an angry feminist except she’s so dang friendly most of the time
bubbly as fuck, still has all these insecurities about not being enough. of anything. and honestly just so passionate that it’s like arguing with the sun, she just doesn’t know what to do with all that energy. amelia is honestly the sun and i love her sm
bc her dad’s an officer he was insistent on her taking self-defense classes, plus amelia kinda just liked the energy release of going to those or the occasional boxing class. boxing or exercise in general helps her destress and like……god knows she has enough stress to go around lol. so she has definitely gotten in a bar fight w someone who tried to touch her ass w/o her permission
is so Extra, the type to always have her nails done
boys are disappointing and she lowkey prefers girls on her bi spectrum yet…..here she finds herself…..always dating said disappointing boys
except for rn, currently w that snarky ass radio host on campus
always has 10mil things on her plate to do she stresses herself out too much, just needs a nap
would offer her left arm for $3 and/or to pet a dog #justcollegethings
i hate her her insta bio is “i am the law(yer)”
leaves sticky notes everywhere so she doesn’t forget things. like she’s so methodical abt how she handles things she just tries to handle too much lmao
primary character inspirations: buffy summers, caroline forbes, zoe hart, haley james scott, rachel zane, a lil bit of vmars and laura hollis from carmilla

“Do not count your chickens before they are hatched.” – Aesop
Because if you do, surely you will have underestimated. Both the quantity and quality of the Make A Chicken project assignment far exceeded my expectations for my art students in grades 5 and 6 at Miscoe Hill School, in Mendon, MA. Three key events came together as I assigned this project on April 13:
My husband and I had added eight chicks to our little farm on April 8. They were precious and sweet and truly brought much needed joy to our lives as we quarantined due to COVID19
On Facebook, I had seen the work of Massachusetts College of Art and Design Professor Chuck Stigliano and his students as they responded to his Chicken Challenge assignment: https://www.facebook.com/MassArtBoston/posts/10157789254776201
My school district was set to enjoy a school vacation from April 20-24. As we entered our 5th week of remote learning on April 13, I wanted to assign something cheerful and engaging to be accomplished with found materials already at home.
Patrick C
As we approached the fifth week of remote learning, I still hadn’t seen or heard from about half of my 196 students. Families were adjusting to learning at home and the many challenges they were suddenly confronting. Students weren’t yet sure what their responsibilities were and it was a nebulous time for many. I had been pushing out simple drawing tasks along with a weekly wellness check-in, where I asked students to send a photo or short video of themselves or what they were doing to pass the time to share with the rest of the class. I would upload the photos and videos to Animoto and create a weekly video to share via Google Classroom and as an unlisted video on my Youtube channel. More students participated in this weekly check-in than with the weekly drawing assignments. After a few weeks, my district shifted from “practice” and “optional” assignments to “regular” assignments and participation grew immediately.
During the week of April 13, I pushed out the Make A Chicken assignment with an introductory video:
I fielded questions throughout the week and shared creations on social media as they came in. It was a daily delight to look at the fun submissions to Google Classroom. And curating chickens for publication became my morning focus.
Liam F
That week, students were also asked to complete a survey about the art materials they had at home. As it turns out, many did not have colored pencils, chalk, crayons, or paint. The only items 100% of my students had at home were pencils, paper, and scissors. The Make A Chicken project allowed for everyone to create and create they did! Here are just some of the chickens that were submitted (you can click on a photo and view the collection as a slideshow):

In all, about 160 hand-crafted chickens were submitted. Some are shared above, and I’m happy to add that you can see these chickens and more on Artsonia in our Make A Chicken gallery: https://www.artsonia.com/museum/gallery.asp?project=1981037
My principal, Jennifer Mannion, was inspired to Make A Chicken and I was delighted to find this image in my email one day:
Jennifer Mannion, Principal, Miscoe Hill School
How creative is that?
And it just kept happening that people from all aspects of my life shared their chickens with me! This is the absolutely magical thing about the Make A Chicken project! For the first time in all my years of facilitating art making in school and sharing artwork via social media, this project is the first that knew no boundaries. Art teachers reached out to me for the lesson and family and friends across the United States shared chickens with me that they had made. Here is a special gallery of “affiliate” Make A Chicken submissions:
Sarah G of New Boston, NH – Granddaughter
Nellie M of Denver, CO – Great niece
Julia G of New Boston, NH – Granddaughter
Jayne M of Somerville, MA – Sister in Law
Pam S of Bridgewater, MA – Second Cousin
Penny S of Raynham – First cousin once removed (my father’s cousin)
My father’s cousin, Penny Sawyer, not only shared the quilted chicken (above) with me, she shared the story of the original quilt maker, Barbara LaFlamme. Barbara was a friend of Penny’s who I had also spent time with visiting quilt shows with Penny and my mom. Barbara passed away after a long illness in June 2019. When Penny introduced us, she knew we would enjoy each other’s company because Barbara was a former teacher, retiring after 30 years of teaching art. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and crafting. And indeed we did enjoy each other’s company, especially when Penny and Barbara would drive up to visit the Thimble Pleasure quilt show at Blackstone Valley Tech with my mother and me. The photo below is from a visit to my home after the quilt show, apparently around St. Patrick’s Day, 2018:
When Barbara’s family was going through her home after her passing, they found some unfinished quilts, including a collection of chicken squares. As Barbara and Penny often worked together (at least conspiratorially) on quilts, Barbara’s family gave Penny the unfinished quilts. Penny took the chicken squares and sewed them together to make this beautiful quilt:
Barbara and Penny’s Chicken Quilt
I especially enjoy the stitched sayings around the edges(Penny) and the incredibly detailed stitchery and beadwork on the individual squares (Barbara):
I’m grateful to the Make A Chicken project for taking on a life of it’s own as I stumbled through the middle weeks of COVID19 enforced Remote Learning. I have enjoyed sharing the creations across social media where I believe they were enjoyed by all. As we go forward into the final six weeks of remote learning, I’m focused on maintaining the joy, creativity, and humor the Make A Chicken project fostered. I thank everyone for participating and once again thank Chuck Stigliano for the idea. Thanks for reading, “peeps”:

JENNI HENSLER | Creative director Costume Designer Stylist | NYC
---
We spent time in Hensler's loft to discuss her new installation and collaboration with Zola Jesus, Chelsea Wolfe, Drew McDowall, and HTRK
There is a language older and deeper than words, a language of dreams, gesture, symbol, and memory. Far too many of us seem to have forgotten this language, but some people live their lives in tune with it—the way they listen, learn, and, in their own way, create art forms for the rest of us to “read.”
Artist Jenni Hensler and her work speak loudly in this language of gesture. After spending time in her NYC studio and catching a glimpse of this woman, one thing is crystal clear: Hensler manages the art of both life and dream, making space for these worlds to coexist, and through her work, creates gateways with which to share her stories.
In her upcoming art show Persona Somnia, Hensler invites each one of us to explore our own intimate personal journey.
For the uninitiated, who are you and what do you do?
I am a Creative director and Costume Designer/Stylist. I basically create visual stories. www.jennihensler.com
How long have you been doing this, and what did you do before?
For a little over 10 years. I started working music related jobs in the early 2000’s. This led to another job working at a beautiful 1920’s theatre in Seattle. At that time, I was also dabbling in painting… and from that I became a makeup artist for a few years. All of that experience ushered into styling, which elevated into Costume Design. More recently, I have started making video collages of found footage – at first this was just for fun and to project for parties and events I would DJ, but it lead to some directing as well. I’ve always wanted to create stories visually and since music has always been a major inspiration, stepping into the role of director just felt really natural. I want to take people to the place that the music takes me.
I have always been inspired by music – I lose myself in it if I connect to it. When a song is amazing, when it has that magic, it really takes me somewhere. I also love day dreaming, and creating other worlds. This is my way of doing something I’m good at and combining those elements.
Where did you grow up? What kind of kid were you?
I moved a lot growing up.. but for the grade school years of my life, I was in a suburb just north of Seattle. I was the quiet kid.. spent a lot of time in my room using my imagination. I had a bedroom that was decorated all in pink and I had a little Casio keyboard that I would play the twin peaks theme on in between playing with Barbies.. You could also find me often outside biking with the boys.. As a teen, I lived in the city (Seattle) and became really into fashion and even more into music.
So what are you working on right now?
My first exhibition Persona Somnia. I have always worked with others on collaborations.. and I adore this work, it is my way of connecting with some pretty amazing people.. but this will be the first time that I have ever done something of my own.
Tell us about the process of creating this? And what’s the vision?
I am planning an art exhibition showcasing all-new sculptural costumes in a dream like setting. The title is Persona Somnia. This will be a full sensory exploration into the infinite dimensions of the self; a visceral dream-like experience.
I’m exploring six different sides of myself in a dream like setting. The idea that each of us are multi dimensional. Each archetype is being visually explored through costume and brought to life in a deeper way via the space they’re in, lighting, scent, and sound will each play a part in bringing them to life. Each archetype will be shown singularly and focused in the room to be fully understood and the complete energy felt…
I have always been inspired by dreams.. Mixing dreams with reality… I often drift into the place in between. One of my passions is to create ways to take others into this place. To open a part of the psyche and create a dream like psychedelic experience which connects everyone in the room using minimal elements. To feel as close to what a dream would feel like in the waking life.
There will be a sparse ambient soundscape for each fragment… Each one being created by a different musical artist that I admire or have worked with on a story or project.. Artists I feel a some kind of connection to both as individuals and their music as this is a very personal thing. Zola Jesus, Chelsea Wolfe, Drew McDowell (Coil), Belong, Azar Swan, HTRK
In Jungian psychology, archetypes are highly developed elements of the collective unconscious. Being unconscious, the existence of archetypes can only be deduced indirectly by examining behavior, images, art, myths, religions, or dreams. Carl Jung understood archetypes as universal, archaic patterns and images that derive from the collective unconscious and are the psychic counterpart of instinct. They are inherited potentials which are actualized when they enter consciousness as images or manifest in behavior on interaction with the outside world. They are autonomous and hidden forms which are transformed once they enter consciousness and are given particular expression by individuals and their cultures. archetypal figures: great mother, child, devil, god, wise old woman, the trickster.
You work with a lot of amazing photographers/videographers and musicians presently. Any favorites?
I have asked my favorite musicians to be a part of my exhibition. As for photographers/videographers I love working with: Jeff Elstone, Sebastian Mlynarski, Jacqueline Castel, Martina Scorcucchi
Can you tell us about something strange or crazy that’s happened on set or during your career?
I worked on a music video for HTRK (who just happen to be a part of my show).. Many synchronistic things happened around that shoot. The theme for the video was following people in moments of their daily lives.. I was one of the people who was followed… We shot one of the scenes in my loft that I lived in for 6 years in Brooklyn (until recently), and some other things.. we also shot another scene in someone elses apt (I wasn’t able to be there for this part).. Months later well after the video came out, I was showing a friend the video and realized that I was now living in the apt that one of the other people in the video was in.. the song is called Chinatown style.
What are you listening to right now?
Here are some words that describe what I am listening to right now: dreams, psychedelic, neon, palm trees, space, time, exotic, tribal drums, purple, blue, green, haze, incense, opium, nostalgia, Dub step, dream noise, decadent classical, strange voice recordings…
Any specific bands or artists we need to check out at the moment?
Demdike stare, Andy Stott, Hype Williams, Selda Bagcan, Night Muzik. Follow this link for more..
