To be fair, when inquisitor Oz asked "How do I destroy Salem" she was cheeky and vague about it but good post and point!
I love the contrast between Jinn and Ambrosius
Jinn is genuinely trying to answer people’s questions—she WANTS to provide information. Even when the questions are really vague, like “what is Ozpin hiding from us” she provides the full context and fills in gaps that might not have been covered by the initial question.
Even when Hazel confronted her and used her mere PRESENCE to answer a question, she accepted it, because she found it clever.
Ambrosius doesn’t do any of that, because he’s not meant to provide information—he’s meant to build what’s already there. He’s an architect. And he carries himself a bit more like the gods than Jinn did—cryptic, a little condescending.
But both spirits are heavily invested in their own autonomy and power, and they do genuinely love to witness human ingenuity.

I love how the Bumbleby community just collectively decided to inflict incredible pain on each other every five minutes in order to cope with the angst that V8Ch12 smacked us in the face with. Because the canon wasn’t enough, we need more angst. Like 80% of the Bees fandom woke up today and chose violence. Love that for us. Keep up the good work. I need the catharsis while we wait for next week. :’)

All joking aside?
This is exactly what I wanted.
Okay, well, not exactly what I wanted, but pretty close.
You see, I’ve seen many unfounded complaints about how Bumbleby would ruin the team dynamic, especially Yang’s with Ruby’s. While this complaint is stupid and annoying and honestly guys grow a spine what’s a little romance in a show as dark as this, it does have one small merit; Bumbleby has a chance to interfere with Ruby and Yang’s relationship as sisters...
And thank GOD that didn’t happen.
Now I love those Bees like... a lot, okay? I’m not obsessed with them, but as the story goes, their chemistry just clicks with me strongly, especially since I, like Yang, have a very close black-haired yellow-eyed feline companion whose name starts with B.
But the name of the show isn’t BY. We’ve still got the RW to worry about.
In my experience, the biggest driving point of something should be relationships. If you remove Scar’s relationship with Mufasa or Simba (cough or the hyenas cough) from The Lion King, then his drive as a villain loses all reasoning, just being evil for evil’s sake. If no one in the story has any relation to anyone, then there’s no drive to do what they’re doing.
The romance between Blake and Yang gives them drive. Yang gives Blake someone to stay with, to never leave behind again, and to show her there’s nothing to be afraid of so long as you have someone you trust nearby. Blake gives Yang someone to care for without the fear of being left by them. Well, you know, except for that one time... but that was just as important to their interpersonal arcs. Everything about their relationship has been important to them as characters, and they also allow for a diversity in the kind of relationships present among the main four girls (Yang has a sister, a friend, and a girlfriend all on the same team).
So claiming that Bumbleby has no place in RWBY... is a call for a weak plot. It has a place, so long as it doesn’t overshadow any other relationship in the show.
And it doesn’t.
Blake and Ruby are not fighting for Yang’s love. They both have it, and as shown since the reunion, they have just what they need from her. Everything that has happened since V8Ch10 is the perfect example.
When the teams reunite in volume 8, Yang does not give Blake or Ruby more love than the other, she just gives them different types of love (romantic for Blake, familial for Ruby). When Ruby greets her, she gives her a huge hug, and in response Yang, without anyone else saying a single word, says... “I missed you too.” Her interaction with Blake doesn’t change the impact of hers with Ruby, just because it’s different.
Hey, remember in V8Ch04, when Yang said “Yeah, Ruby...”?
GOD! How SeLFisH!!! Only CaREs ABOut WHaT BLAKE THinkS of hEr!!! DOeS RUBY mEaN NOTHING?!
Just because Yang feels differently about her teammates individually, people just whine about avoiding her development with Ruby... even though that’s not what’s happening.
In V8Ch11, Yang and Ruby get their own moment together where they talk about their mom, Summer, and aside from one entirely unrelated-to-the-bees thing Yang says, Blake does not appear at all in this scene, because this is a moment set up for the sisters. There is no halting of the interaction to say“Oh, yeah, and Yang and Blake are in love lol.” It’s between them, and it stays between them.
V8Ch12 was more about Penny and in that episode we got plenty of background interactions between Blake and Yang that never forced their way into center stage.
And now... we get to the most recent part of the nightmare.
Now, why did I want this to happen? It’s simple. There’s no denying how much Yang loves Ruby because of what she does, and nothing about what she does implies a favor of love for anyone.
Before even thinking, Yang protects her sister, instantly proving there’s nothing stopping her from being there for someone she loves. Blake, in turn, shows how much she loves Yang by immediately rushing to save her, despite her failure. Yang doesn’t prioritize anyone, she shows her many forms of love differently, and that’s something I think everyone needs to understand.

Note
Choose between.... Weiss and Winter. Also: Ruby's semblance or Penny's floating array?
I love Winter, but I adore Weiss with every bit of my being.
v8ch12 spoilers under the cut
I’ve always loved Penny’s floating array and I’m really sad she can’t use it anymore. Ruby’s semblance is super cool, but Penny’s weapon always looked so visually appealing to me, so that’s what I’ll choose

idk I’m kinda loving it. They’re more in tune with each other and finally working together in a way they’re clearly both comfortable with. No more sudden takeovers the other wasn’t expecting - the most recent time (2nd to last gif) seems they don’t really even need to communicate traditionally in order to be on the same page anymore. It was so fast and fluid and mid-conversation, no “your turn” or “let me” or anything. They both just knew what to do and executed it seamlessly. I like seeing them working together, since they’re gonna have to, each more at peace with the person their souls are becoming. Pretty soon there won’t be a switch at all. Maybe even next episode. They’re so similar now, and we can see that neither is taking on qualities that wouldn’t already have been a part of them -- more that they’re bringing them out in each other. They’ve both changed, but not in an out-of-character way. So seeing them work together like this, especially with Oz continuing to follow Oscar’s lead throughout the volume, makes me happy and proud to see how Oscar’s growing into his role as his successor. It suits him.
