Someone must make sure that the Heart Hotel won’t come tumbling down!

Alright *kicks in door* I’m gonna talk about sovani, specifically trans girl Sora sovani

Like... I guess I’m going under the assumption of “Vanitas eventually gets like ‘Villain Redemption Domesticated’” lmfao and like calms down a BIT and stops trying to kill Ven so it’s Good Vanitas and not like, Evil Fucked Up Gremlin Boy. I figure he’s still an ass but his teasing has become more manageable and not trying to drive a sword through Sora’s friends’ chests

But anyway like, imagining Sora beginning to explore her gender and like, coming into her own and realizing she’s a girl and starting on hrt and becoming more feminine

But Vani is decidedly not a girl and is becoming more rugged with all sharp edges and scruff

And Sora just like... seeing Vanitas, and seeing how handsome he is, and thinking about how much she loves him, and realizes that, deep down, that means she loves herself. He looks so different from her now, but that’s who she could’ve been and she LOVES him, and it’s such a nice feeling to realize that no matter what path she could’ve taken she would love herself, despite this being the way she feels

And Vanitas, oh man. He like... idolizes her. He holds her on a pedestal and almost worships how effortlessly she laughs and loves and makes friends. He’s made from darkness, but she’s so vibrant and BRIGHT, and she LOVES him. And he eventually realizes that they’re also two halves of the same coin. Complimentary, light and dark.

In him, she sees her masculine half, the person she could’ve been, and in her he sees just how delicate of a soul they share, how beautiful they can be, how that light is in him, too. He catches his reflection in the mirror right and thinks it’s Sora for a fraction of a second, and that Pavlovian hit of serotonin starts training him to see himself that way too. Accepting who he is, and loving himself, because he’s a part of the person he adores most in the world

God damn the imagery is so palpable and beautiful and the idea of being so dichotomous but also so complimentary, so different and so similar, light and dark but both parts of the same coin, is MOVING

since i cant find the forbidden sora/vanitas content i guess ill just have to generate it MYSELF 

long rambling incredibly self-indulgent headcanons below the cut! these include kh3 spoilers and some nsfw stuff

so this whole thing hinges upon basically ignoring the kh3 ending. sora’s fine, kairi’s fine and more than just a plot device and still friends with riku, xehanort is gone but everyone else is back. the nobodies are all somebodies again that occasionally show up and are kinda decent people. vanitas is around but still a colossal dick that no one likes

sora kinda tries to help redeem vanitas, but mostly in that way that he tries to help everyone. he doesnt really particularly like vanitas but feels that obligation to reach out anyway. mostly everyone thinks vanitas is ventus’s problem (ventus: ‘wow thanks guys’)

one day sora somehow finds out that vanitas is basically constantly in terrible pain due to like, being someone who shouldnt really exist. idk how he finds this out (maybe vanitas says something? magic? idk man)

this Changes Things

thus begins sora’s painstakingly slow efforts to Become Friends With Vanitas And Convince Him He’s Not Actually The Night

vanitas is fucking rude at first, he doesnt like listening to sora and will usually just ignore him (including just opening dark corridors and leaving in the middle of conversation) or attack him and start a fight

sora Persists so vanitas decides to avoid him completely instead. unfortunately for him sora eventually figures out that he’ll inevitably see vanitas if he hangs out with ventus enough. the two really cant stay away from each other that long

if avoiding sora doesnt work, maybe being a Massive Asshole and attacking his insecurities and making him cry will

it doesnt

fine. maybe vanitas can tell sora about... one (1) feeling. 

maybe two?

okay that was too much. time to be a dick again

this continues for a long time until eventually vanitas discovers, to his horror, that he is Completely Okay with talking to sora. he can just Say Things to him and its fine. it even feels... kinda nice???

sora starts referring to vanitas as a friend at this point and starts inviting him places and trying to do things with him

sora notices vanitas hates being touched and asks about it. vanitas associates touch with pain. sora decides he can fix this

its little things at first like a hand on the shoulder or the arm

they work up to stuff like quick hugs and sitting against each other

vanitas realizes touching sora is... kinda nice. kinda really nice. really, very nice

Vanitas Wants To Cuddle

sora says thats fine friends do this

the others are beginning to speculate. some think sora should stay away from vanitas, some think hes doing a good thing. a few people are just making bets in the background (lea: ‘they like each other and havent realized yet’ isa: ‘theyve realized theyre just scared’ marluxia: ‘sora hasnt realized and will Freak Out’)

sora kisses vanitas on the cheek or smth and Unlocks kissing. vanitas wants to kiss now. please sora

ventus says vanitas does not want to be soras friend. ventus thinks vanitas wants a lot more than just kissing, but, as it turns out,

Most of the times, your worst critic could only be yourself.

Sora knew that his friends didn’t mean anything malicious with their constant teasing but there was only so much joking around he could take until the words started leaving a bitter imprint on his mind. So when Riku teased him earlier and said that ‘of course he’s having problems with homework! Sora’s not exactly known for his brain after all’ and Kairi and their other Islander friends giggling alongside his oldest friend, Sora couldn’t stop the short pang of hurt that hit deeper than he thought in his heart.

He didn’t want to worry them over something so stupid. He plastered on his sunny smile and laughed along with them. If anyone commented on how he was smiling wider and laughing louder than usual then he’ll just say that it’s because he’s in a great mood.

After their classes, Sora made excuses to his friends to go home earlier and that he won’t be able to join them in the Island Playground. He said that he needed to get something done for the King (and he really did; Mickey asked him to do a report on everything that happened to him from start to finish during the last Keyblade War) and rushed home after saying goodbye. It was only when he reached his house and closed the door behind him that Sora allowed the cheerful mask to drop.

“I could feel you sulking from the other side of the universe.” The snide voice, similar yet so different from his own made him jump to the ceiling. “Did Maleficent come back to kick your puppy or something?”

Sora turned his fluffy haired head and golden eyes met his skye blue ones. Vanitas was leaning on the doorway to the living room, sipping his can of soda leisurely. Originally, he was going to lie about what was bothering him but the narrowed gaze from the black haired man told him that he would gut him with his keyblade if he even tried to do that to his face.

“Vani,” Sora ignored the warning growl from Vanitas, “am I stupid?”

The Savior of the Worlds dropped his gaze and fumbled with his hands. He braced himself for Vanitas’s acidic derision as he affirmed the statement but…

A hand dropped and ruffled his hair aggressively. Sora yelped at the unexpected action and looked up at Vanitas’s awkward expression.

“Vani?” Sora tilted his head to the side.

“You’ve mastered extremely high-tier spells that that stupid Keyblade Master Ventus is so fond of was amazed when you showed it off to her; beat the asses of the heads of the Let’s-Ruin-Everyone’s-Lives Club (you might have borrowed some of our powers in some bullshit ‘power of friendship’ cliché thing but you used that strength smartly against him, Sora), saved the universe four times since before you were even born, and is an accomplished Keyblade Warrior who would be a Master if it weren’t for the unfair plans that the bald bastard set against you during your test,” rambled Vanitas in one breath.

He breathed in deeply and then leaned down so that he’s face to face with Sora. He placed both of his hands on the younger’s shoulders.

“You’re a dense, naively optimistic dumbass,” Vanitas bluntly said to the dumbfounded Sora, “but you’re not an idiot. Extremely far from it.”

Sora stood frozen there for a few seconds before a huge face-splitting grin— this one’s a sincere one— curled up his lips and showed off his dimples. His eyes sparkled with happiness and love as he jumped his now yowling darker counterpart slash adopted older brother.

“You do like me!” Sora cheered as he rubbed his cheek against the hissing Vanitas’s face. “I love you too, Vani!”

“Get off me you little shit!” Vanitas shrieked, attempting to pry himself off of Sora’s iron grip.

Sora giggled and gave his surrogate older brother a peck on the cheek. Delight brightened up his eyes as it flustered the older further. He allowed Vanitas to shove him off and take off with a slightly puffed up stance from the show of affection. It really made Sora happy that the other didn’t bring out his keyblade just like his earlier attempts on hugging him. Not only did Vanitas practically admit that he liked him but they were making progress! He’ll definitely have to tell Ven about it!

His grin softened into a smile when his phone buzzed and Riku had sent to their group chat that was meant for him, Riku, and Kairi only, asking him if he was alright. Maybe he should also be more honest with telling his friends when their teasing was bothering him. Terra did tell him before when he told the older Keyblade warrior about his issues with the teasing that he should be more honest when he’s hurt or sad.

He took one more fond glance towards Vanitas’s closed bedroom door and then went off to his own to start a video call with his friends. He’ll be more honest from now on… After all, conversation is the key to a better relationship!
