Jet leans against the cold shower wall and lets the scalding spray wash over him, ignoring how the water hitting the floor sounds like rain on a car roof, pretending the shrill screech of the rickety pipes doesn't remind him of tires spinning out on wet asphalt. 

and from a jet/sokka hurt-comfort-forced-bonding fic (working title: 'you're the one that I need/I'm the one that you loathe')

Sokka grabbed the extra blankets off his bed — without the electricity on, there was a good chance it was gonna get cold — and dug his emergency candles out of a drawer. (Sure, most of them were just scented candles gifted by Yue and Ty Lee, but there was next to no occasion other than an emergency or an impromptu s'mores cookoff where they would ever make an appearance, so emergency candles they were.)

i believe jetko doesn’t work because jet would absolutely not be able to get over the fact that his lover is from the fn (especially a royal), and even if jet was to get over it and be with zuko, their bad traits would clash too much.

jet can be obsessive, cold, manipulative, and has shown that he resorts to violence when pushed to his limits (whatever that may be). zuko is prone to anger, also violent (less than jet though), controlling, and bossy. not only that, but zuko does not like and cannot handle manipulative people, as seen with how he interacts with azula, ozai, zhao, etc. if jetko dated, their relationship would turn sour extremely fast.

if you like doomed, toxic yaoi then jetko is the way to go. if you’re looking for happy soft fluffy yaoi then i suggest Not picking jetko lol

i’m probably biased though because i am a major fan of jetka. idk

my 7 favorite sokka ships in order (tw: opinion)

jetka — amazing. thought-provoking. two genius pretty boys. the TRUE enemies-to-friends-to-lovers dynamic. almost every jetka fic i've read cared SO much about the both of them which i absolutely love. every rarepair fic writer has the best characterization and jetka is no exception. god there needs to be more jetka fics that are ACTUALLY pure 100% jetka and jetka only (look at all the works in ao3 and you'll get what i mean)

sukka — lovely. canon. the "i WILL fix him with brute force" is to die for. the way sokka cares so much about her. beautiful. the way they both want to protect each other hhhh don't even talk to me.

sokkaang — has so much untapped potential. yes i love kataang but sokkaang is lovely as well. aang really brought joy to sokka's world and sokka was always trying to keep aang safe no matter what. someone write a 100k slow-burn internalized homphobia fic with these two and my life is yours

teokka — so fucking cute. nerdy boys let them be NERDY! i have read a few fics about these guys and they are lovely let me tell you. not much to say about teokka other than UNDERRATED PAIR

yuekka — nobody wants to write for this ship because of the death part but god i wish people would. they were so cute together. it short but sweet. also underrated.

sokkla — overrated i'd say, but good! amazing option when you want some dark fics, plus they really focus on both of their problems too. while it is more azula-centric, every fic I've read was also very focused on sokka as well which made me very happy. but again usually has very dark themes.

zukka — VERY overrated, but also really good. very alive and thriving fandom which means you get a lot of fics. but unfortunately not much sokka-centric zukka stuff. kinda a deal breaker for me
