Good morning, my dear Tumblrinas, I come to you with yet another crack idea and that is:
Varsha's Personal Radiator Ranking
aka: How good are the various League members for Varsha to cuddle with when she finds herself in a situation not befitting her temperature requirements as a snake?
I've mentioned it before, but Varsha has the habit of coiling around people for warmth. So, without further ado, here are the victims:
Tumblr media
Let's begin, right to left because I will not start with Varsha’s literal boyfriend
Tumblr media
Tom Sawyer
Literal golden retriever, but he might get nervous. Also complains about Varsha getting heavy after a while. Plus, he might still be a little scared of snakes and might feel a little awkward about it all. BUT look at this picture! This boy does not get cold. Perfect radiator. Also, it's not pictured here but he has one of those big film noir detective trenchcoat, which I imagine would be very nice to cuddle under. Final rating: 6/10
Rodney Skinner
Once again, the man doesn't freeze. He's also very okay with physical affection and avoiding people's personal space. Would probably ramble a little and make jokes all throughout if the situation calls for it. There's only one problem: The man is naked. He's wearing nothing under that coat. Veeery awkward and goes against Varsha’s common sense. 5/10
Mina Harker
Ah yes, the eternal question: Are vampires warm? I'd say, in Mina's case, yes? Because she needed a winter coat to keep warm and she wouldn't need that coat if there was no warmth to keep in the first place. But I'd also assume that her body temperature isn't that high, so she's not that good at keeping others warm. Also, her clothes are pretty form-fitting, so there aren't any coats to slide under. Still, I think she'd be pretty comfortable, and probably wouldn't think that Varsha cuddling with her for warmth is awkward. 7/10
Allan Quatermain
Uh... Yeah, no, he wouldn't be happy about it. But he would do it if it's really cold. He has a wide and comfy coat though! I dunno, uh... 4/10?
Captain Nemo
Well, you see, this man has a lot of dignity. But he also has protective dad instincts when Varsha is in danger. So, once again, he only really allows for cuddles when it's necessary. Also, no wide and comfy coat. 3/10 - I'm sorry, Nemo, this isn't your time
Dorian Gray
Yeah... no... For personal reasons, no. If he wasn't such a bastard, he could easily be a 7/10 or higher, but seeing that he is a bastard... 0/10
And finally...
Henry Jekyll
Henry/10. What am I even supposed to say? Henry and Varsha are cuddlebugs, and the excuse of "it's cold" is always good for sneaking in some socially appropriate PDA. Henry gets touch-starved, the slight bit of pressure helps with his anxiety, he's head-over-heels in love... And Varsha is very affectionate and touchy! Perfect!
Also, if you're wondering about Edward Hyde: I'd imagine that he's very warm and he also has the least issues with having Varsha's weight on his shoulders, but also, he has no patience for casual cuddling. If he's out, he's there to get things done and maybe carry Varsha out of danger, no more and no less. So, I'm not really including him here. But he's loved <3

Mother land, mother language. So this… So many mothers we have got, out of which, cow is also mother. Therefore she’s addressed as amba. Amba means mother. Still in Gujarat province, they call amba. And in U.P., United States, er, United Province, in India, they also call amba, or in a broken language they call amma. Still… That is from very long time, mother is… Amba-devi. There is a… From Amba-devi, there is a big temple of Mother Durga, Kali, in Bombay. So this Amba-devi was pronounced by the Englishmens as Bamba-devi, and from Bamba-devi it has come to “Bombay.” Actually, there is a big temple of Amba in Bombay. From that name, instead of Amba, they have become Bamba. Just like from Sindhu, they have called, they have designated the inhabitants of Sindhu-desa as “Hindu.” The Muhammadans, they pronounce s as h. So from “Sindhu,” it has come to “Hindu.” Otherwise, this “Hindu” name is not mentioned in any Vedic literature. It is given by the… This name is given by the other foreigners. Especially the Arabian countries, they used to call this nation, Bharata-varsha… Actually, Hindu is not a religion. Hindu is a name given by the foreigners. The religion is, of India, varnasrama-dharma, following the institution of four varnas and four asramas. That is varn… Or sanatana-dharma. Sanatana-dharma means eternal, eternal religion. Religion of human being is one. That is called sanatana. A living entity is described as sanatana. Mamaivamso jiva-bhuto jiva-loke sanatanah. In the Bhagavad-gita you’ll find sanatanah, and Krishna is also addressed in the Eleventh Chapter as sanatanas tvam. And there is another place, or spiritual world, which is also called sanatana. In the Bhagavad-gita you’ll find, paras tasmat tu bhavo ’nyo ’vyakto ’vyaktat sanatanah. So this sanatana term is very important. The living entity is sanatana and God is sanatana and the spiritual world is sanatana, and the process by which your lost relationship with God established and you go back to home back to Godhead, that is called sanatana-dharma. Sanatana-dharma. That is our eternal relationship with God.” (A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. 15-01-1974. Pushkar - Most Sacred Dham For Hindus
Pushkar Old History
Pushkar is taken into consideration as one of the 5 sacred Dhams for Hindu Pilgrims. It is called the advent of Lord Brahma. It is thought that you'll acquire salvation via taking dip in holy Pushkar Lake.
Pushkar, considered as one of the historically inhabited metropolises of India. It advanced alongside the edge of Pushkar Lake. Pushkar is situated inside the Ajmer district of Rajasthan. It is the handiest 14 Kms far away from Ajmer City. It is separated from Ajmer via the Nag Parbat (The Snake Hill). There are very few temples of Lord Brahma inside the international and Pushkar has the maximum prominent temple in all. It is considered that one that has visited all 4 Dham (Badrinath in North, Dwarka in West, Jagannath Puri in East and Rameshwaram in South) but now not visited Pushkar will no longer be capable of obtaining salvation, it can be done only with the aid of taking a holy dip within the water of holy Pushkar Lake and traveling the Jagatpita Brahma Temple in Pushkar. Famous annual fair (Pushkar Camel Fair) held right here within the pious month of Kartika.
Pushkar Lake
Pushkar lake is one of the most sacred Sarovar of Hindus and considered as the introduction of Brahma Ji. This Lake is surrounded by way of many temples and ghats. It is thought that the holy water of the lake is having recuperation properties.
The legend associated with the Pushkar Lake or Pushkar Sarovar
As mentioned in Hindu scripture Padma Purana, devil Vajranabha become killing and harassing humans on earth. As Lord Brahma is the creator of the universe, he got aggressive and immediately tried to kill the satan Vajranabha with a weapon (Weapon of Lord Brahma is lotus flower). Devil Vajranabha destroyed by means of the Lotus flower however three lotus petals fell on this planet at extraordinary locations during this and holy springs emanates from earth. These holy springs fashioned three lakes - Jyeshta Pushkar Lake (finest or first Pushkar), Madhya Pushkar Lake (middle Pushkar), and Kanishta Pushkar Lake (youngest or closing Pushkar). Lord Brahma got here to the earth and specify the metropolis by naming it Pushkar (Pushpa approach flower and Kar means hand, as a result, Pushkar manner place wherein flower fell from Lord Brahma's hand). After killing devil Vajranabha, Lord Brahma wanted to execute a holy fireplace sacrifice (Mahayagna) at Jyeshta Pushkar Lake.
The Temple
It is the simplest temple of Lord Brahma, where a devotee can provide worship to him. The temple is built with stones and marbles. The indubitable capabilities of the temple are - It's crimson Shikhar (spire) and image of a Hamsa (a swan - the mount of Brahma). The Shikhar is ready 700 feet in top. The emblem of hamsa enhances the entrance gate. The temple is located on a high platform which may get admission via marble steps main to an entrance gate. The entrance gate is having a big arch that is embellished with pillared masking. Entry gate leads to a Mandap (pillared outside corridor) after which the Garbhagriha (sacred shrine). Many cash (specifically silver ) embedded at the marble floor and walls of the temple with the aid of the devotees. A silver turtle is within the mandap facing the Garbhagriha. The main murti also, known as Chahumurti is made from marble. This statue elaborates Brahma Ji seated in a crossed leg position thinking about the motive of the advent of the universe. This shape of Lord Brahma called the Vishvakarma. This icon is of life length with 4 hands and 4 faces, every symbolize a distinct path. The 4 palms maintain akshamala (rosary), pustak (e-book), Kurka (kusha grass), and kamandalu (water pot). Each has its own importance. The Legends
Lord Brahma desired to perform his Mahaygna peacefully without being attacked with the aid of the devils, then he surrounds Pushkar by using the hills from all directions. He evolved — Ratnagiri in the south path, Nilgiri in the north direction, Sanchoora inside the west course, and Suryagiri inside the east path. Lord Brahma allocated precise locations to Gods in hills to keep the yagna from being broken or attacked with the aid of the Devils. Lord Brahma wanted to complete the yagna inauspicious time however Goddess Sarasvati could not make her presence at that point to carry out the essential part of the yagna referred to as Aahuti as she was anticipating her accomplice goddesses Lakshmi, Parvati, and Indrani. As Goddess Saraswati kept Brahma ji waiting, he gets aggravated and requested God Indra (the king of heaven) to find the appropriate woman for him, with whom he can wed and finish the yagna in a special auspicious time. At that time Lord Indra becomes capable of locating only a Gujar's daughter (a milkmaid) however in yagna's requirement is of purest lady like Goddess. Then Lord Indra requested her to pass through the body of a cow to get purified. The girl did the same and Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and the priests confirmed her purity and take into account her 2d start. She turned into the given name Gayatri. After purification Lord Brahma married Gayatri in presence of different Gods. Devi Gayatri sat beside him and start imparting Aahuti. When Goddess Sarasvati along with different Goddesses arrived at the yagna vicinity, she saw Gayatri sitting next to Brahma ji and he or she got dissatisfied as it becomes her rightful region. She cursed Lord Brahma within the presence of all God and Goddess that he would be forgotten and by no means worshipped by means of everybody on the planet.  That is why the Pushkar temple is accounted as the simplest temple which is especially committed to Lord Brahma for worship.
The Importance of Pushkar
As Mahayagna turned into accomplished within the presence of all God and Goddess, it's far believed that a dip within the holy lake at Pushkar will provide assured salvation from all sins and evil things. Pushkar Lake referred to as "Adi Tirtha" - "The unique sacred water-frame", in Ramayana and Mahabharata. There are five sacred serovars (lakes) as per Hindu non-secular notion that are called Panch-Sarovar and Pushkar is one in all them. It is believed that a dip within the holy lake on Kartik Poornima day equated to the blessings received through acting yagnas for several years.

The OC Halloween Challenge - Day 15
You can find the challenge here!
Today's prompt was...
Home Is Where The Haunt Is
A home can be a place to make memories and some memories leave a scar. Focus on your characters when a place they call home is threatened.
I actually only had a single idea for this prompt, so we have nobody to mourn today! Inspiration struck and I might even turn this into a full series at some point, who knows!
The League sat in the conference room, a tension in the room that none of them had experienced since their very first adventure together. All of them still very clearly had the image of Tom Saywer in their minds. But not the bright smile on his lips, the sunshine that he was. No, it was his corpse, a deep stab wound in his heart. Right beside him, that of Allan Quatermain, stomach sliced open like that of an animal on the sacrifical altar.
Doctor Jekyll and Skinner were sitting a bit off to the side, Jekyll having some slight trouble stitching up various cuts across Skinner's invisible body. Turned out his blood did become visible once outside his skin, and that was really the only thing Jekyll could go by. Thankfully, he had treated a wound on Skinner before, even if only once, so he had some idea what he was doing. Still, these would end up being his least skillfull stitches yet.
"So," Nemo summarized, "there is a violent entity loose on my ship that can take on various forms and seemingly disappear without a trace, only to then reappear somewhere else?"
"It can probably turn invisible," Mina theorized.
"Then I might still be able to find it," Varsha said. "As long as it doesn't float."
"The thing has eight legs," Skinner commented. He shuddered audibly, seeing as he couldn't visibly do so. "Big ol' thing, that creeper. You can't miss it."
"It isn't always a spider, Skinner," Jekyll commented, placing the last stitch.
"What was it you saw?" Mina asked.
"It was..." Jekyll started, but then he couldn't get the rest of the sentence out. He busied himself putting away his equipment.
"It was Hyde, wasn't it?" Skinner asked. "You said it caught you off guard, that's why it caught you off guard."
"At first, I... I really thought it was him," Jekyll mumbled. He looked at the nearest reflective surface, where Hyde clearly had to be, whispering things to him. "But when he didn't talk to me, I realised something was off. Still, I... didn't react in time. It came out of the window and transformed into that... monster... we fought at M's hideout."
"The henchman?" Varsha echoed. "The one who drank thirty doses worth of your potion?"
"Exactly, that one. Do you remember, in the tower, when we were trapped and you saved us?"
"Yes, it was freezing cold and we were pressed against the wall, just out of his reach."
"The icycle he tried to stab us with, the monster had it."
Varsha's torso ached at the memory, right where the sharp tip had dug into her scales.
"So, it could be a large spider or a mutant," Nemo murmured.
"It wasn't just some spider!" Skinner scoffed. "The tips of its legs were sharp like big bleedin' swords and there was poison dripping from its mouth when it tried to eat me."
"I saw that too," Varsha declared. "But when it looked at me, it just hissed and ran off. Do spiders usually hiss? I don't think they do, and it sounded snake-like. Like when someone is speaking the same language you do but with such a difficult accent that you can't understand a word."
"It probably didn't want to mess with a goddess like you," Skinner said with an invisible wink. He started putting his coat back on, followed by his sunglasses.
Normally, Varsha would correct him once again that she was, in fact, not a goddess, only a divine being, but considering the situation, she had other things to think about.
"Somehow," Nemo mumbled, "I think it would've attacked her just the same if it caught her alone."
"Maybe Skinner isn't entirely wrong," Mina said. "The creature may not have been scared of her, but it could've recognized her as a nagi and thus immune to poison."
"Doctor, you said that the creature was gone once you ran into the night patrol?" Nemo asked, absentmindedly running his fingers along the hilt of his sword.
"Yes, that's true."
"And Agent Sawyer died earlier than Mister Quatermain."
"By an hour or so, yes."
"Maybe the creature can only use its powers to its full extent when its victim is alone. That's why it was so overwhelming when it found you alone but it ran once another person was present."
"Then it's easy, we just have to not be alone anymore," Skinner concluded. He was about to follow this up with some cheeky remark about female company, but Jekyll interrupted.
"I don't think it is. Maybe it works now, but it's safe to assume the creature is getting stronger with each person it attacks. Tom's death was... well, it could've been caused by any regular human. There were minor wounds that suggested a fight but none of them particularly severe. He died by a blade to the heart, it was quick and simple. Mister Quatermain, on the other hand, was entirely sliced open and didn't have the chance to put up a fight at all, which we all know would be unusual for him. We know what happened both attacks after that and that the creature became more violent each time." He took a deep breath, fidgeting with his pocket watch. "I think it feeds off fear and it turns into a physical representation of what we're most scared of."
Silence swept over the room.
"It would make sense," Mina mumbled. "Tom may not have liked admitting to his fears but he definitely had them. If I had to guess, I think the monster killed him in the form of Sanderson Reed, the other invisible man who almost ended his life at M's fortress. The event was traumatic enough for him for the creature to pick it and Sanderson Reed was human in strength and abilities. Mister Quatermain was then killed by the image of Sawyer, the man he saw as his son that he, yet again, failed. As for you, Doctor, I think the reason for the creature's shape is obvious."
"Very," Jekyll sighed, clearly blaming himself again. Varsha gave him a sympathetic glance, trying to comfort him.
"And you, Skinner," Mina continued, "you wouldn't happen to be scared of spiders, would you?"
"And what if I was?" Skinner threw back, tugging at his gloves. "They're deadly, after all."
"Only some of them."
"I suppose we should know what everyone is afraid of then so that we can be somewhat prepared," Varsha suggested.
"And we should surface and head to the nearest dock," Nemo added. "We'll have a hard time fighting the creature aboard the Nautilus since we could accidentally damage her and cause her to sink. It would be better if we lured the creature out into the open."
"The nearest port would probably be Casablanca," Varsha theorized.
"Fears, anyone?" Skinner interrupted. "I've already had mine announced to the world, now I wanna hear yours."
"I suppose I'll go first," Mina sighed. "It's loss of control. Hurting the people I care about. Vampirism can be... tough on your nerves. The instinct to hunt and kill never quite goes away. - Varsha, I reckon your fear would be based in so-called mythology? Perhaps a bird of prey?"
"You could say that," Varsha nodded. "Garuda and his sons, the sworn enemies of the naga people. They're gigantic birds. Eagles, falcons, hawks..."
Now, eyes were on Nemo. "My fear..." he said slowly, " would be failure. Failure as a Captain, to protect my ship, my crew... my friends."
"That's... abstract, to say the least. With Mina and myself, our fears act like mirrors, it's clear what form they'll take. Maybe, yours is to abstract for the creature to use."
"Or it turns into a kraken and cracks the Nautilus in half," Varsha murmured. "I think you should avoid contact with the creature at all costs, Captain. Whatever form the creature takes, I doubt it would be good for the ship."
"I don't think having a giant bird on board would be great either," Skinner commented.
"Right, which is why I'll wear a blindfold. If the creature can't look into my eyes, maybe it can't read my fear, since the eyes are the window to the soul. I would still be able to see relatively well, so it wouldn't be much of an issue for me."
"So, the plan is set," Nemo concluded, getting up from his chair. "Nobody should be alone from now on. I'll head to the bridge and set a course for Casablanca. We'll be travelling above water and I'll have my fellow officers with me at all times. Meanwhile, we should make an effort to keep the creature at bay and find out everything we possibly and safely can until we can properly eliminate it. Mrs Harker, Doctor Jekyll, I suggest you'll take the starbord side. Varsha, Mr Skinner, you'll take the port. Should the creature be able to attack more than one person at a time, I believe you'll be able to best deal with the other's monster in this pairing."
"What exactly do I do against a giant bird if I can't even shoot it?" Skinner asked.
"You're cunning, I trust you can come up with something."
The League nodded, then headed outside of the conference room. Mina gave her scarf to Varsha, which she in turn wrapped around her eyes, obscuring her vision. Finally, they went their separate ways, Jekyll and Mina to one side of the ship, Varsha and Skinner to the other. As they walked, Varsha could feel a gloved hand brush against her fingers. She took it almost instinctively. Skinner was trembling.

After Shiva burnt Kamadeva and vanished from the place, Devi Parvati decided to win Shiva through penance. She went to her parents to get permission for penance. Father Himavan agreed but mother Mena initially refused. However later, seeing Her sorrowful, Mena agreed to her tapas. Parvati took off her ornaments and wear clothes like Tapaswini. She went to place where Shiva burnt Kamadeva. Restraining mind and all the senses, She started performing tapas. During grishma, She lighted fire all around and sitting in the middle continuously performed japa. During varsha, She performed tapas sitting on bare rock which was drenched. During shita, She sat within the water and continued Her tapas with great devotion day and night without taking food. Like this She continued to perform tapas reciting the Panchakshara mantra. Her mind was peaceful amidst all variations of climate and events. Initially She consumed food and later leaves. Then, She stopped consuming even leaves and continued tapas by fasting. Since She discarded even leaves and continued to exist, hence the devas called her as Aparna. She made Her tapas more severe. Then Shiva taking the form of an old brahmana tested Parvati in various ways. Finally Shiva revealed His true form to Parvati, bringing the penance to fulfillment. The Divine Presence of Golu Dolls at Your Home Brings You Prosperity
Tumblr media
Bommai Golu or Kolu is a Tamizh word that refers to the practice of the display of dolls during the Navaratri festival. Contextually and symbolically it can also be understood to mean “Divine Presence.” Known as “Bommala Koluvu” in Telugu and “Bombe Habba” in Kannada, this practice is an old tradition that is fast losing its significance and there are few families that continue this tradition today. Often, this stems from a lack of knowledge with regard to the What, Why, and How of this tradition. during the first set of three days Para-shakti is worshipped as Durga, then as Lakshmi during the second set of three days, and as Saraswathi during the last set of three days. As the Lakshmi Ashtothram and Saraswathi Ashtothram state “Brahma-Vishnu-Sivathmikayai Namaha” it is the one Parashakti in different garbs functioning multi-variously. A pooja items shop in Singapore offers Golu related itineraries.
The Navaratri festival is observed twice a year – once in the month of “Mesha” or “Chaithra” when the Vasantha Rithu segues into the Grishma Rithu (roughly corresponding to the beginning of summer) and then again in the month of ‘Kanya” or “Aswayuja” when the Varsha Rithu segues into the Sharad Rithu (Autumn/Winter) – it is the latter that is more popular and when someone talks about the Navarathri festival, it is this Navarathri that they are referring to. The Golu is arranged on a “Golu-Padi” (Padi = steps). Usually, 9 steps are built but odd numbers of 3, 5, and 7 are also seen. However 9 is the ideal number. The nine steps could be taken to refer to the nine ways of worshipping Ambal – “swarnam, kirthanam, smaranam, paadasevanam, archanam, vandhanam, dasyam, sakyam, atmasevadhanam”
They are also representative of the Nava grahas, nine planets (nine planets as per the Hindu astrological almanac which includes the shadowy planets – Rahu and Kethu). From the bottom to the top the size of the steps progressively get shorter, with the topmost step being the shortest – symbolically telling us how we must keep narrowing our focus in order to progress in our sadhana. The arrangement of dolls should also follow the pattern of progressive complexity with the dolls of Shiva, Vishnu, Devi etc. occupying the topmost position, with the avatara-purushas and the Rishis occupying the next lower steps and so on.
The pride of place on the Golu-padi is reserved for the “Kalasham” or the “Kodam” because it is in the Kalasham that Ambal is invoked and it is in the Kalasham that she resides during Navaratri. Marapachi dolls made of red-sandal-wood or silk-cotton-wood or rose-wood are traditional dolls that are the first to go up onto the golu padi. They are the male-female”pair-dolls” and are handed down from mother to daughter. For, the nine days it is women who perform all the pujas. This does not stop the men from doing their share of pujas, it is just that during Navaratri women get the special preference and rights for doing the puja during Navaratri You can buy homam pooja packet items in Singapore from us.

Reposted from @saoorabh - The Ekvira Aai Mandir is a Hindu temple located near the Karla Caves near Lonavala in Maharashtra, India. Here, the worship of the goddess Ekvira is carried on right next to the caves, once a center of Buddhism. The temple is a prime spot of worship for the Aagri-Koli People. But along with the Koli (fisherman) folk, Ekvira is worshipped by many some high caste, people especially those belonging to the CKP & Daivadnya Brahmins & somewhat kunbi caste as their presiding family deity, Kuldaivat. This temple-complex originally consisted of three alike shrines built in a row all facing west. Of these, the central and the southern shrines are preserved in full and rest of the structures are preserved only on plan and that too brought to light in the clearance work. Maha-mandapa, varsha-mandapa and gopura are situated in front of these three shrines and these three shrines are surrounded by sixteen shrines of additional parivara devatas. The devotees throng the temple on all occasions of Navaratri and Chaitri Navratra to worship and celebrate. Animal sacrifices are also offered in this temple, including the sacrifice of goat / chickens. It is believed that the Goddess has magical powers. —————————————————————————————————— follow us for more interesting posts about Lonavala @visitlonavala and visit our website https://visitlonavala.com (at Ekvira Devi Mandir, Karla, Lonavala) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwUHpxFFAE3/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1xowfz8kdb72
