Xmas Luncheon

The Christmas Luncheon is the next event on the calendar for the Group, their friends, family and carers and it will be held once again at the Oakwood House Hotel on Thursday 6th December next at 12.00, noon, for a 12.45 sit down. Please take note of these time changes and the new sit down time. The price per person is £12.50 for the lunch and this should’ve been paid to John by now along with your menu choices.

Brick Lane Pantomime

The yearly excursion to the Brick Lane Music Hall pantomime for next year and their adaption of Mother Goose is on Thursday 21st February 2019. The cost is a subsidised £35.00, which includes travel to and from in  one of Buzz-Lines executive coaches, a three course meal and the entertainment. If you’re interested please contact John as soon as possible as this is a very popular excursion and there are limited seats and it needs money up front.

Tina Hydes/Kathy Ritchie

We are pleased to report that Tinais recovering at home after having her gall bladder removed and it was good to see her at a recent MSG meeting.    Similarly Kathy is at home recovering from an operation for and is also back home recovering and its ood that we can announce this and they’re both making a good recovery.

Ann Smallbone

John has recently spoken to Ann, as she hasn’t been very well and is having some serious issues with water retention in her legs. She’s made several visits to Maidstone hospital for intravenous antibiotic treatment, which maybe related to her bout of pancreatic cancer, which left her body immune system somewhat compromised. Nevertheless, both her and her husband  are hoping to attend the Christmas Luncheon and we wish them both well and hope to see them there.

MSG Business cards

Kathy Ritchier has recently had some business cards printed for the Group, complete with our red logo and the words “supporting Maidstone Stroke survivors” on the front and contact details on the back.                                    The intention is�� to hand these out to people one meets on one’s travels who one considers might have had a stroke and so promote the Group and hopefully we’ll get a fresh intake.

Kent Fire Prevention Services

We were privileged to have a visit fro the above group at our October Group meeting and Luke, looking like Jesus Christ, gave a very interesting presentation, complete with a film show, giving an insight into some of the usual pitfalls, hazards and daily risks of everyday life and how to avoid them with escape plans for each and every possible scenario. He gave everybody in attendance a useful flyer, of which John has a few, plus for those interested they will do a free house call to inspect and fit the necessary safety devices and suggest other common mistakes. who would remember to clean out the catchment trays of their toaster, not leave fat in the frying pan, empty ash trays, leave chargers on too long or over night and not too many plugs in one socket or multiplug extension cable. Bob Sawyer

It was good to see Bob attending a recent Group meeting and since his recently been  diagnosed with the onset of dementia he has had his driving licence taken away and his family have sold his car. So he made a very gallant effort to attend by catching the bus from Tonbridge to the Chequers centre and then hiring a taxi to the TWMC . John then dropped him back to the centre for his trip home.It seems tha Bob is hot on the heels of his partner Viv in more ways than one, as she’s now a resident in a specialist nursing home in Gravesend and Bob is trying his hardest to find suitable accommodation nearby vbia all and sundry, even the SS.

Julie Terry

Julie has been out of action for a few weeks with her leg playing up and other related issues, spending a few days in Maidstone hospital. It appears that she becomes very breathless and struggles even harder to walk. We wish her well and hope to see her and her sister Olive back at Group meetings soon.

Marie Shaw

On Thursday 31st October, John, Sandy and Kathy visited Marie at her home in Kingswood. Marier doesn’t drive anymore and has had to make alternative arrangements to get out and about. She uses an outfit called INVOLVE, KENT. who are a support group who try to improve the well being and reduce the isolation by bringing people together for help and support each other. For instance, they have a mini bus that picks Marie up once a week plus a dozen or so others and takes them to Tesco’s at Grove Green on a Thursday lunchtime, where they help with their shopping and their trolleys, afterwards with lunch taken at the Earlybird public house and then back home. This outing costs the princely sum of £6 p;us £1 tip for the helper and whatever the lunch and a few gin and tonics cost.It’s so good to know that she’s not as isolated in Kingswood as we seemed to think and it’s so good thast she can get out and about. She sends her love to one and all, as we do reciprocate her thoughts and wishes.

Marie has very kindly donated  several raffle prizes for our Group meetings. for which we are extremely grateful. Thank you Marie.

Voor ons eerste prototype ben ik gaan werken aan een systeem om frequenties te kunnen detecteteren met een Arduino. Het doel hiervan was om de gevonden frequenties te vertalen naar een veranderend soundscape. Omdat de analoge inputs in de Arduino voltages nodig hebben tussen 0 en 5 volt nodig hebben en audio signalen tussen negatief en positief voltage wisselen was het nodig om een DC bias circuit te maken. Dit circuit geeft een voltage (Vbias) van 2.5v om het signaal tussen 0 en 5v te laten wisselen.
