Sneak peek of chapter 7 of Lunar Eclipse of the Heart

After you've sampled Vegeta's triple helpings of crème brulee and tiramisu, he takes you up into the sky. He brings you to a gloomy alleyway nearby, reminiscent of the day you first met and he’d scared your socks off by chasing you into the dark. He folds his arms gently around you, watching you intently, and takes you with him a few meters in the air, causing you to let out a startled yelp. It feels very awkward to have his arms tightly wrapped around your torso and to be floating above the ground, with nothing but the wind beneath your feet. You tighten the grip on his shirt, and you're so distracted by this whole flying business that you're barely registering the hard lines of his muscles under your hands.  

“Vegeta, I have to be honest here, this is a little bit out of my comfort zone…” You squeal out. “I assure you,” Vegeta says calmly, “I’m not going to drop you, woman,” giving you a small squeeze for reassurance. “You better not. Or I'll haunt you for eternity,” you threaten with a hint of theatrics. Letting out a light chuckle, he ascends higher, just beyond the roofs of the alleyway houses. You thank your lucky stars that you aren't particularly afraid of heights as you clutch his shoulders tightly, digging your nails into his skin, but he doesn’t seem to be affected in the slightest. His warm breath is on your shoulder, which is weirdly calming.

Vegeta soars higher and higher in the sky, taking your breath away, now more out of awe than fear. A captivating nightscape of city lights is unfolding beneath you. The wind whips your face like a stormy sea, and if you squint into the darkness, you can see the tapestry of flickering lights being swallowed by the night sky's black. His warm breath tickles your ear as he whispers, "Ready to fly?" You nod against him , snaking your arms around his neck, to get a better grip on him. You squeeze your eyes tightly shut, not knowing what to expect, as you feel your body moving horizontally. Vegeta slowly picks up the pace, making you feel that same sensation you had as a kid every time you swayed too high on the swing. As you open your eyes, a gasp escapes your lips. Flying, the sensation of it, feels more exhilarating than you ever imagined. Seeing the world rushing by beneath you makes you feel more alive than ever before.

The one time you dare to shift in his strong embrace and look at his face, slightly illuminated by the densely knit lights from below, you see a softness residing there, shadowed behind thick, dark lashes.

She landed in front of the Saiyan prince and thrust her hand out, knocking him back with a blast of what looked like purple energy, similar in shade to his galick-gun attack.

The new style of attack threatened to catch him off guard, but he quickly raised his crossed arms in front of his face, taking the brunt of the blow head on and standing his ground. He lowered his arms with a dark chuckle, and, save for minor damage to his clothes, appeared unscathed.

" Oh? You just now want to make this interesting? " Another half blink and he reappeared behind her, hand raised. Crimson energy built in his palm and he shot a blast into her back.

" What did you gain from holding back? "

Dragon Ball Z X Reader: Sleeping HC

A/N: Please be warned that this fixation is going to get so bad. So bad. This show has always been such a comfort to me and I’m rewatching it for the first time in twelve years and it is every bit as good as it was when I was seven.

Piccolo:

- He is big, green, and comfy, emphasis on the big. If you have anything smaller than a California King, you’re going to need to upgrade.

- Piccolo doesn’t sleep, however, he does view this as a time to meditate deeply. The added weight of you next to him or on top of him is very comforting and helps clear his mind even further.

- What does he sleep in? He probably strips down to his gi and calls it good. He doesn’t really get hot or cold, so he doesn’t have a preference for blanket or no blanket.

- His favorite sleeping position with you is spooning. He loves to just engulf you with his body, his nose buried in your hair and his hand over your heart, feeling the steady thump thump under his palm.

- He’s an early bird. He doesn’t like to waste time that could be spent training, so if you’re still asleep by the time he’s sick of meditating, he’s leaving you with a kiss to your head and flying off to do Piccolo activities.

Vegeta:

- The Prince of All Saiyans prefers to sleep in his tighty-whiteys under a fluffy blanket. No, I do not take criticism, why do you ask?

- Good God, does he snore like a motherfucker. The first time you slept together, you thought there was a semi-truck outside your house.

- He prefers to have one of your arms and legs slung over him while his arm is tight around your waist. He will die before he admits it, but he thinks the way your face smushes against his chest is adorable.

- He is not an early bird. Absolutely not. Does he get up early? Yes. Only because he is disciplined and must be better than everyone else at all times. He literally makes you wake up to give him a kiss goodbye and tell him that you love him.

Incidentally, we can't really talk about pragmatism without talking about Future Trunks.

Krillin is a devious and underhanded martial artist, but still a martial artist. Trunks is an assassin. He goes straight for the throat at every opportunity. He's not here to fight; He's here to kill.

Much like his father, Trunks is not a martial artist. Every bit Vegeta's son, he's naturally gifted and has already become a Super Saiyan by both of his first appearances - in the story, when he fights Frieza on Earth, and also chronologically in Trunks the Story: A Lone Warrior.

I can't really say he's untrained. He was trained in the basics by Gohan. But Gohan is also not a martial artist; He's had one year and six months of proper martial arts training. One year from Piccolo and six months from Krillin.

Gohan's a fighter, guided by emotion moreso than technique. So there's a limit to how much Trunks can learn from him. Even Gohan admits that he's a poor substitute for his dad.

This, I should note, is a meaningful admission from Gohan because this chapter was published at the very beginning of the Cell Games. Gohan outright saying "I wanted to follow in my dad's footsteps but the clothes aren't enough" sets up an important contrast to the Gohan of the present time who has had that time with Goku and is ready to take his place.

But his concession of inadequacy is important for how we interpret Trunks as well. Trunks knows the stuff. He can perform Bukujutsu. Throw ki blasts. Power up into a Super Saiyan. But he's not Goku or Krillin or Yamcha or Tenshinhan; Like Gohan and Vegeta, he is a fighter, not a martial artist.

His heart is in the right place, but he's reckless and foolhardy. Chomping at the bit for a piece of vengeance.

This recklessness carries into his journey to the past. He never quite learns from his brief offscreen shitstomp by the Twins. He returns to a point in history just after Goku's return from space. Historically, this was a key moment in history where Goku showed up in the nick of time to save Earth from Frieza and his father King Cold. Which should technically be Great King Cold as it's Cold-Daio but he's far from the first king to have his Greatness dropped in translation, eh Piccolo?

But when Goku's late to the party, Trunks starts to worry and decides to step in himself.

Look at him. The spitting image of his father, full of piss and vinegar.

It's here that we get to see Trunks as a fighter for the very first time. Even chronologically; In Trunks the Story, they skip most of the action; It's very brief.

I mean. It's an absolutely hilarious joke that we see Trunks flying off half-cocked to go get revenge and then he's waking up from a coma on the very next page. Amazing cutaway gag.

But we're here to talk about Trunks's DNA as a fighter, so Frieza offers us the first material we have to work with. And Trunks? He does not fuck around.

Your soldiers are dead. Who's next?

You're dead. Who's next?

Your father's dead. We done here?

Trunks gives zero shits. In the span of two chapters, he massacres Frieza, Cold, and all of their soldiers without an ounce of hesitation. He is not playing.

He was even paying attention to the part where Frieza can survive grievous amounts of harm and come back. He takes great care to thoroughly and utterly annihilate every last bit of Frieza. Taking no chances.

Trunks isn't here to fight. He's here to kill. He is not interested in a protracted martial arts bout.

This fight, incidentally, also gives us a moment to talk about Trunks's sword. Cold-Dumbass thinks Trunks's sword is the key to his power.

He's an idiot. There's a reason he only exists for like three chapters and one page of a fourth. This man doesn't even understand how weapons work in anime.

Japan and the West have very different relationships with weapons. When Westerners think of weapons, we think of guns. Even when we write medieval weapons, we treat them like guns. Guns are disposable tools that bestow killing power upon their wielder. Any average Joe with a gun suddenly becomes a lethal warrior.

But Japan has a rich history and philosophy baked into their culture surrounding weapons and their role in martial arts. In anime, a weapon does not grant power; It manifests power. The weapon is an extension of its wielder. It's a means by which the wielder expresses their own strength.

In Trunks's hands, that sword can cut through Frieza. Because Trunks is powerful, and his might outshines Frieza's.

In Cold's hands, however, that sword is harmless. Because Cold is weak and cowardly. (Uh, relative to Trunks.) He has no power to express.

But Goku is strong. Goku knows power intimately, far beyond Trunks's understanding. And so Trunk's sword, his expression of power, is useless against Goku.

This is what Trunks's sword means, to him and to the story. It's an extension of his character and his strength; The means by which he delivers his killing force. Which is precisely what makes this moment so devastating.

When 18 breaks Trunks's sword, she breaks Trunks. The damage to his blade is honestly not that severe. It could probably be reforged. But the damage to Trunks's self-image, to his psyche, is unshakable.

Trunks never uses his sword again. He leaves it on the plane here.

And then we never see it again. Instead, Trunks decides to pursue greater martial arts training alongside his father, following in Vegeta's footsteps.

But he never quite loses his assassin streak. Though he begins to develop his abilities as a fighter from this point forward, Trunks is goal-oriented. He wants to kill the Twins. He doesn't care how that happens.

In the original version of these events, before Cell further altered the timeline, those blueprints were the key to Trunks's victory against the Twins of his timeline.

Though Cell has no idea how Trunks pulled off this victory despite being too weak to defend himself from Cell himself, the discovery of Gero's lab offers us a possible explanation.

The Twins have shutdown switches built into their systems. Though 17 destroyed the remote Gero built, Bulma is able to use these blueprints to build a new one.

So there's a solid implication that the weaker Trunks of Cell's timeline took Bulma's remote home with him and disabled the Twins that way. Again: He's not here to fight. He's here to kill. It doesn't matter how he does it.

...well, I guess it does matter 'cause that Trunks got wasted by Cell five minutes later.

Point is, Trunks wears his goal-oriented ruthlessness on his sleeve. He's not driven by pride of by love of the art. He has a job he's here to do.

However that single-minded focus, that determination to get it done, also holds him back. Trunks has never had proper martial training. He's been taught by Future Gohan, who is not a martial artist. And he's... taught himself near Vegeta. His developed his abilities and increased his strength, but he doesn't know fighting the way Goku or Krillin or Yamcha or Ten do. Nor does he have Vegeta's natural brilliance and general understanding.

Trunks, for all his strength and all his determination and all his killing instinct, is an amateur. We all know what happened to him in the last fight he ever fought here in the present.

Vegeta breaks the limits of the Super Saiyan and realizes that this power is good but comes at a cost, so he should only do it sparingly.

Goku breaks the limits of the Super Saiyan and realizes this form sucks and is stupid, and decides to go a different route entirely.

But Trunks breaks the limits of the Super Saiyan and goes "AWWW YEAH THIS IS THE SHIT GIMME THAT POWER" because he doesn't know. He has a killer's instinct, not a martial artist's. He's never been trained in technique.

We see, over the course of this series, both Trunks's strengths and his weaknesses as a fighter. In every altercation, he goes straight for the throat. Which is brutally effective when he has the power to back it up but Trunks, more than anyone, is vulnerable to a crushing defeat if he doesn't have the Power Level to back it up. He has nothing else.

Still, he gets to go out on a high note. His final chapter sees him return to the future, not with the remote but with the great strength he gained in the Room of Spirit and Time. And he gets to clean house his way - slaughtering the Twins efficiently and thoroughly, in true Trunks fashion.

And also getting Cell for good measure.

Godspeed, killer. You were the best your world had left to offer but you rose to the occasion, and that's the most that could be asked of anyone.

Actually I need to talk about this real quick re chatting with Tiny about Vegeta: In the manga he's just generally reserved and observant, and his more Loud Villainous Behavior is an extreme reaction to feeling threatened by something Specific, but Toei writes him like he's threatened by everything.

Like, his behavior in the android saga reflects how he was panicking on Earth when Goku wouldn't just die, which makes sense! Dude was a highly successful imperial lord now getting slow-roasted in peaceful earth customs for a year after being revived by mistake, then he's told he's the first one to die in an attack three years from now, then he's told he's gonna be a father in half that time, and then finds out that future kid is his future kid and he came back in time to make sure Goku didn't die, because that's the life that's going to make a difference!!

kicking biting scratching clawing snapping growling and putting in overtime to make sure everyone, especially himself, understands that he Does Not Care About These People and regain some kind of control over his life/self is pretty normal in abused abducted scared stressed people. Which is exactly what happened when Goku came back in the Buu saga. Vegeta realized he had 24 hours (and one (1) fight) to validate all of the time he's spent working his ass off between that very first retreat and now, and he gets desperate and spirals overthinking about how he's not who he was anymore.

Goku has to tell him to his face that he knows he cares about his family when he's trying to do what he did in the android saga, back when nobody knew him well enough to call him a liar. But that's the great and infuriating thing about Goku in the manga, he lacks all sense of formality and shares Honest Observations with his Whole Chest, so Vegeta knows if Goku points something out, it's the truth (which is also why it was such a big deal that he lied to Krillin in Super but I digress!!), which is what makes him resign to that truth (Which is also visited again in Super, that Vegeta is not who he used to be. The difference is that, by then, he's smiling when he says it).

Anyway this is me once again being old man yell at clouds about how Vegeta is done SO dirty throughout the anime old and new, and it kneecaps so much of his character arc, and why the other characters want him around at all, much less for over a decade (because !! he's NOT a dick all the time, turns out!! He's clever and grounded and highly controlled and extremely competent most of the time!! Even ROSHI points out Vegeta's Majin behavior isn't like him. Which is how he survived the Freeza Force for thirty goddamn years, Toei. I can't beLIEVE you would cut out the casual water cooler banter between Geets and Freeza while Goku's sitting there bleeding out what's wrONG with you that is the funniest part of the movie askldjas)

May I please request headcanons for Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo having a female S/O who has anger issues and struggles with trying to control them?

He has a hard time understanding sometimes. He’s a bit dense, but he does what he can to help soothe you whenever you feel so angry,

Even if he doesn’t have the right words to say or maybe doesn’t know what you’re going through, he has enough sense to be able to calm you down whenever you feel like you’ve lost your grip on your emotions.

Goku helps you channel your anger into your energy. He shows you how to channel your ki and eventually, you become very good at controlling your ki and in turn, helps you be able to control your emotions.

He’s big on wanting you to train and spar whenever you feel so angry. He knows that if you are able to get that anger and aggression out in a healthy way, you’ll learn to become more patient.

Whenever you feel so worn out from every emotion, he’ll gladly hold you close and allow you to cry or vent or anything else you need. He’s a big teddy bear, and he can handle some punches or crying.

Eventually, Goku has you training and sparring whenever you feel angry. He won’t give up on you even if you’re having a bad day. He’s always there with a bright smile and a pat on the back to remind you that you’re doing great.

Vegeta knows all about anger. He’s a 5’4” tall thing just full of anger. He’ll lose his temper at the drop of a hat. But with you, he feels guilty about it. Especially if you become angry as a result.

He does what he can to keep his anger in check, but if you become angry as well, this could lead him to losing his temper as well and it becomes a shouting match between you two.

Never will he use violence against you. He promised himself and you that he’ll never resort to that. He wants to try and talk things through with you whenever he gets the chance.

One day, you’re both angry and soon he just pins you to the wall and kisses you to shut you up. The kiss is so fiery and passionate, it leaves you breathless and forgetting exactly what you were angry about.

If that doesn’t work, Vegeta also shows you how to channel your anger into your ki. This results in you becoming much more in tune with your own emotions. You learn to fight this way as well, training under Vegeta’s tutelage.

Even if he doesn’t always encourage the best habits, Vegeta understands what it means to be angry and how it can be so hard to control it. He’ll try desperately to calm you down everytime.

Piccolo takes a different approach. He understands anger. He knows what it feels like when it builds inside and grows deeper and deeper and deeper. He’ll know what to say or do to have you calmed down in seconds.

If you show signs of becoming angry, Piccolo takes you aside and he helps you with a breathing technique. This has you soothed within a few minutes, and he continues to remind you to breathe easier.

Sometimes he can’t calm you, so he always brings you away from the situation so you can reassess everything. He’ll fly you around, allowing you to get a different perspective on things. When you’re so high up in the air, you calm yourself quickly.

And just like the two Saiyans, Piccolo teaches you how to channel your anger into your ki and helps you find the will to be able to calm yourself within seconds through this technique.

No matter what, he will always be patient with you. He’s really gentle with you too. Even if you want to scream or punch him, he’s got you covered. He’ll just take you into his arms and get you to use the breathing techniques he’s taught you.

Piccolo takes you to these beautiful cliff sides and has you meditating with him. When you’re here with him, you notice how things are so insignificant to hold onto. Meditating with Piccolo helps you put things into perspective and how you’ll always have him by your side.

(LONG THREAD AHEAD)

I pitched the idea for "regional" Saiyans. Saiyans who evolve and adapt to their settled climates. Whis tells Goku and Vegeta that there are smaller Saiyan tribes that inhabit other less universes (not just U6).

These Saiyans inhabit a water/ice-based planet. They're based off of Japanese macaques or "hot spring monkeys". Naming system has been after bathroom products. They're super lazy but can inflict heavy damage if you engage a fight with them.

Planet Sento is predominantly an ice planet. The tropical hot springs are made from volcanic vents underneath that melt the ice of the surrounding area. Sentos have thick skin and fur and are accustomed to the scalding temperatures of the springs.

They're classified in roles: Therapies, Offense troopers, transporters, and Elders. Transporters are the Sento Saiyans with the thickest coasts who haul resources or thinner coat Saiyans to and from neighboring tribes. Offense Troopers are usually male/females with thick-enough coats who protect the Transporters. Therapies are females with thinner coats that can't venture through the arctic areas and they perform massage therapy on the troopers or transporters. If a Sento Oozaru is calmed enough from thrashing by soaking in the hot springs, Therapies swoop in to try and revert it back to base form using head scritches or giant leaf fanning.

Their courting/mating practices consist of top-tier acrobatic performances to impressing mates. Hetero/Homosexual relationships accepted.

They only really turn into Oozarus if you agitate them or they can't get access into the hot springs. Their skin and fur is thick enough to take the boiling temps of the spring but can scald regular skin. The spring has senzu-bean and muscle stimulator properties.

They don't really speak a lot since they sleep most of the time so they use ASL to communicate most of the time.

Powerwise I'd place them at SSJ3 level only when they're active fighting. They're fight primal style at ground-base. They cannot fly but can launch themselves in momentum. They can't sense energy but go by scent.

Main thing is Super forms. They do not physically turn into the forms. They learn to use the form's properties. (stamina\ki control\moveset). Think Ikari Broly. The only indicator of what form they're utilizing is eye color. If they're using SSJ, their eye color will change to the form's eye color.

In origins, there were a group of og saiyans that served under Vegeta's Great Grandfather and they decided to step away from the throne. They were exiled and accidentally discovered beings who could travel between universes at will. They had no desire to come back with Cold's regime active.

Fly Me To The Moon

In 2024, the harvest moon fell on September 17th. There is a culture of enjoying the beautiful full moon in Japan. Unfortunately, it was cloudy in my hometown and I couldn't see the moon, but I enjoyed the moon through a great YouTube broadcast😊

I think it would be romantic if Vegeta and Bulma were to look at the moon together🌕

Android 17

His foot was placed on a rock, watching as the poachers down below. They always seemed to bother him. "Again? surely the beating from last time would make them realise" He rolled his eyes, before hearing a voice. It seemed like a shout? His eyes narrowed as he scanned the men below, nothing. His audio picked up a sound from above and quickly looked up.

"Kya!" the voice shouted, jumping from the air and then posing as they landed on the ground. He almost sweat dropped, until he saw the men one bye one drop like fly's. Now just who are they? thought Android 17 it wasn't everyday you saw an average human defeat a bunch of poacher's with what seemed to be ribbon sword.

"you bitch!" one of the poachers wore as they raised their guns, before firing at them. But before the bullet could hit Android 17 quickly deflected it, and knocked the poacher out at the same time. it was child play.

"are you alright?/Will you be my boyfriend?" Android 17 paused, looking up at the taller person. They were strange, but a good strange.

Vegeta

He tsked as he looked up. He had been in a battle, and had almost had his head ripped from his spine. Almost, Just before the attack he felt arms curl around him, as the person carrying him jumped in the air. He opened his eyes, ready to shout at them feeling his pride damaged, only to quickly close them again. a bare chest/exposed. The person holding them had there chest/breast exposed. was the person holding him some harlot?!

But before he could say anything, they began to do an head twirling amount of somersaults and twists as they tried to avoid the attacks. Before landing on the ground. The dirt underneath them coming undone as they did this.

He was speechless (his ego being broken) as he was placed gently on the ground. "Don't worry! I can defeat him!" Vegeta watched them going back to fighting. were they royalty? surely they must of they were as beautiful as a god/goddess, and it seemed like they were trained by the highest of warriors.

he had been too distracted, and had only now come in to terms that they had just beaten the villain. That was HIS fight.

"woman! who are you?! and how dare you steal my fight!" Vegeta shouted, pushing himself up.

Son Goku

Goku sat on the chair (that was quite uncomfortable) as he stuffed his face with food, ordering more and more. The other people looked over in amazement. How could he eat so much? surely it should be impossible to eat that much without being sick, right? WRONG! for Goku was not like them!

"Wow! you eat a lot just like me!" An overly enthusiastic voice stated. "huh?" Goku asked, as he saw someone other then a server come over to talk to him. "can i sit down please?" Goku swallowed the rest of his food before nodding. "Yeah sure!" he stated, and they sat down with a large grin. He looked them over noticing, that they wore colourful clothing, with decorative design on it.

"OH! these look good! so do these! and these too! I'm (y/n) by the way!" They cheerfully said, calling the waitress over who then took there order.

"My nmaes Swon Gokuw" Goku said, speaking with his mouth full. "You have a lovely name Goku! i have a question for you!" Goku swallowed his food, as he waited for them to continue. "go on"

"Would you like to be my husband?"

Gohan

"can I sit here?" Gohan looked up from his spot, seeing someone with (main hair colour) and (secondary hair colour). "Oh! uh sure! Sorry give me a moment please!" He said, as he removed his bags from the chair besides him. They giggled taking the seat next to him.

"thank you!" they grinned, as they took their pen out. it was a pink colour, which had (Image) designs printed on it. Gohan watched from the corner of his eyes, as they stuck the tongue out from the corner of their lips, making there notes look cute. Everything about her was so cute.

"so what's your name? I'm (y/n)!" They asked, as they turned around placing the pen next to their notebook putting their hand out to shake his. He looked up, grabbing their hand and shaking it.

Trunks screamed as he fell to the floor, his head looking up as that's all he could do his body was badly damaged, sore and bruised. He could only open one eye, as he watched what the villain was going to do.

"You bully! how could you harm someone as cute as him?" A voice shrieked, as suddenly the villain screamed, his arm being sliced off. Trunk's eyes widened as someone appeared in front of him. They were much taller then him, and had defined muscles. His face quickly blushed.

"Pink and green stripes" He muttered looking down. He had accidentally been flashed by the one in front of him. His face felt hot, but the sound of slashing brought him back into reality. They were in a battle, and he was watching the person in front of him fight better then he ever could.;

"i think I've got my first crush" They muttered, there cheeks blushing.
