don’t be shy, drop the rest of the Gladiator Werewolf AU

Who is and isn’t a wolf? What are the dynamics? How does the wolf affect them? I need to know more!

Ha! I wrote this on a whim, in about 30 minutes so I haven’t thought much through. But off the top of my head, Acacius and Lucius are wolves. Lucilla is not. She was married to Maximus in this verse. He died and Acacius took control of the pack until Lucius came of age.

You can be born or bitten in. Wolves have heightened senses and aren’t controlled by the moon but it can affect them. Perhaps it brings the wolf more to the forefront, tests their control during moments of heightened emotions.

I’ll confess I’m not well versed in this outside of another wolf au I wrote and the tv show Bitten.

I do have a Werewolf AU I had began to play out with a friend. That McCullum ended up bein bitten by a Lycan durin an off balanced hunt, instead of turned into a Nemrod by his own ill doin, or by Reid in the end.

Verses :

Main/ Default: default setting for Peter is He’s living by himself in the woods in a shitty trailer ( where ever the setting is if it’s modern ). Working as a car mechanic and background info is he is the last of his pack here in America after a betrayal by his cousin’s boyfriend led to his family getting wiped out by hunters .

He has family in Romania as hes half Romanian , and can speak the language fluently . It should be noted thanks to his family line’s history of having both witches and werewolves in his family he has dreams about the future and can control plants and can do small bits of magic however this part of him is used so little he doesn’t really know he’s using it or doing it till it’s pointed out or he’s concentrating very hard .

V; a better ending :

Basically the events of hemlock grove ( the show and book) happen but Peter and Roman stay together and handle their shit with the help of a new girl Dis and some strange creature Kas , this ends in a huge polycule with kids — the happy ending they deserved wirh @upirprince / @distoretion

G.U.N becomes aware of previously thought extinct werewolves and sends their greatest warrior in tracking and hunting to capture the Peter for their studies. ( they send Knuckles lol ) During a lengthy scuffle, and Knuckles landing into danger, he is rescued by the man he had been pursuing, and during a recuperation period at Peter’s trailer, they become roommates and eventually Packmates /brothers , and the two realize just how alike their circumstances are! Srsly they are so much alike I cry .

Wizarding world Au :

Peter already had a hard time in Europe as it is he was a Romani, but he was also a born werewolf, different then the ones bitten by the fearsome greyback he turned into the actual animal and kept most of his humanity intact a feat only available to his kind and other born weres .  He has a gift for magic but who would let a werewolf go to hogwarts, never the less peter is determined to learn magic and find a way to make things better for his kind.

WALKING DEAD VERSE : 

Peter was a drifter when the virus hit, his mother was somewhere in Europe and he had no way of contacting her. 

He had tried to find his friend/boyfriend Roman but by the time he had went to the Godfrey mansion it was engulfed in flames and he couldn’t make out his scent . 

He has then traveled around as both wolf and man seeing as how the Walkers seem to leave him be they don’t bother animals that much unless really really hungry . 

He was able to survive among them and on his own for a while till he began to grow lonely he was a pack animal after all, and started to seek out other people if only to prove he wasn’t alone in the world.

MODERN AU; generic supernatural based. The world has vampires, werewolves, ghosts, restless undead, and all manner of things that go bump in the night that most of the world thinks only exists in fairy tales and scary bedtime stories. This story takes the canon plot lines for Joel, Ellie and Abby and adapts them for a modern setting to allow a wider range of plots for those that do not have apocalypse / tlou / twd / re / zombie et al based verses. The default for my characters here is still the TLOU / general apocalypse vibes verse. This modern supernatural verse is available by request only.

For all intents and purposes, I will be assuming that the Joel, Ellie and or Abby referenced in this plot is my own - if you write one of those characters and want to use this verse setting to write with mine that's totally okay but I am not going to assume / godmod this verse with other writers of those muses.

The story starts with a vampire (I will have to come up with a name and general description for plot purposes but I haven't done that yet - also feel free to opt to be that vampire if you've got one and wanna write with any of my peeps in this verse) who has a certain predilection for feasting on innocence. 20/30 odd years ago, Sarah Miller, a 12 year old soccer play from Texas, had the misfortune of catching his eye. Her father, Joel Miller, attempted to fight off the creature he found feeding on his little girl in the middle of the night, but ultimately lost that fight and had to hold his daughter while she bled out in his arms awaiting emergency assistance. With the rude awakening to the fact that humanity is not alone on this world, he left the life he knew behind and disappeared into the shadows where such creatures live, vowing to do whatever it takes to find the monster responsible for killing Sarah. Enter Ellie. Daughter of Anna; hunted by the same vampire that had killed Sarah years before. With her last human breaths, she gives birth to Ellie, an orphan with only a letter, a switchblade and a birthright she didn't ask for and never wanted. (Listen, we're working with what we've got, supernatural stuff works weird, there are no rules - just work with me okay; we're going with Anna being turned while she was pregnant, passing on just enough of the supernatural blood to create a latent / dormant dhampir like power in Ellie's blood.) Her dhampir powers are triggered in her early adolescence when Ellie and her (almost) girlfriend Riley are attacked by a vampire. Riley is killed, Ellie is bitten, but manages to escape. Over the next couple years, her body begins to change; senses begin to heighten, emotions become unruly, unnatural cravings for raw meat et al begin. Nightmares ensue (the psychic link to her mother's sire). After a final violent altercation at the orphanage where she lives where she bites another girl and realizes that what she's craving is human blood, she flees. Following her nightmares, trying to understand them and what is happening to her, she eventually ends up crossing paths with an old and curmudgeony hunter (Joel) who (after almost killing her) realizes that she's the missing piece he needs to find the vampire he's searching for and agrees to help her. At first the situation is very awkward and quid pro quo but as time goes on eventually he softens towards her and she begins to trust him to help her figure everything out and keep her alive. Queue Abby. Abby's father, consider him a Van Helsing type; a doctor specializing in cures to the uncurable - be it possession or vampirism or werewolfism -- all those things that the scientific world says are impossible, making him a laughing stock in the modern sciences but a bit of a mad genius in the world of things that go bump in the night. Whether or not he has ever genuinely been successful at reversing vampirism (if caught early enough) or curing the curse of the moon (or at least, taming the symptoms enough to allow a werewolf to live a mostly normal life) et al. is up for debate but his name is revered by hunters and loathed by monsters. It was only natural that Joel would hear of him and bring Ellie to him, to find out what she is, and how to help her, with the doctor's assurances that he could fix what ailed her. What he came to learn was that Ellie could be the missing piece to reverting almost any vampire or werewolf to their human state, but it would cost Ellie's life to extract what he needed. Joel only barely managed to get Ellie away from him in time, and was forced to kill him to stop him. He fled with Ellie, unknowingly leaving Anderson's daughter, Abby, now an orphan with a vendetta of her own. (Also thinking maybe Abbys' mother had been bitten at one point, was being held somewhere 'for her safety' by the dad, Ellie's sacrifice would have cured her mother and all the other afflicted, making it especially personal?)

I only have one drawing post about it here but:

I have an AU (Alternate Universe) where Misako is a werewolf :3 That makes two fan-verses/AUs where a character I like is a werewolf. Unlike my design for were-Cimmerian (see other posts) she is VERY fluffy.

I do and don't have writing for this AU (I've been putting it off :( ) any writing I do have is for an older version I no longer like but for the werewolf stuff here's how it happened:

The Ninja had come up with an idea: Hiking and training, rolled into one! Naturally, being mentors Misako and Wu joined them. Sadly, these woods were more dangerous than they thought. When night came a creature the Ninja hadn't recognized was spotted but they made the mistake of ignoring it. Shortly after the creature attacked them with our poor girl Misako being bitten in the attack. Sadly they didn't discover until later the beast had infected her.

(Note: AU takes place after DOTD but Season 7 doesn't occur due to a minor Merge-like event happening, the 'Merge-like' event was a crack appearing in the sky and causing things from other universes to enter Ninjago. The 'crack' was caused by an entity passing by this Ninjago universe. Crazy, I know)

Modern Verse

Sihtric is a cagefighter and an escort. Cagefighting does not make him enough money to pay his bills, so he does what he has to do to make ends meet. He rents Finan's attic and dpes his share of the chores, too. He has an OF page and has had a few SFW modelling jobs as well.

Neurodivergent Verse

Sihtric is undiagnosed comorbid ADHD and ASD. He is very peculiar, especially in his diet. He also has a latex allergy.

In this verse he also lives in Finan's attic, like a lil neurospicey gremlin.

He has hyperspermia and is perpetually horny.

Omega Verse

Sihtric is a relatively newly bitten wolf. He has no pack and has no idea how to do this whole werewolf thing.

He works as a gym instructor and does his very best not to let anyone in on his brand new lifestyle.

Jotun Verse

Sihtric is half Jotun, on his mother's side. He has old magic, most of it nature based, but does his very best to hide this from Uhtred and the others in his company.

This is canon time setting.

Bassist Verse

Sihtric is bassist and second vocals of the band 'Uhtred and the Pretty Boys'. The band is very succesful and Sihtric has a very nice, mortgage free house in the picturesque town of Bamburgh. He drives a very well kept but old ford capri. He wears a lot of tattoos and piercings.

Rogue Verse

Canon time setting.

Sihtric rather than joining Uhtred has fled and now wanders the Kingdoms as a sell sword, sometimes also selling his body. He has a woman or man in each town and probably has more than several bastards running around. He is known as ink hand, for his many tally marks on his fingers and hands, one for each lie he has taken from another human.

Heir Verse

Canon time setting.

Sihtric has become Kjartan's heir after Sven's untimely death on account of him being a fucking idiot and Thyrra taking no more of his bullshit. This turned Sihtric is a much harder, merciless man than he is in canon verse, experiencing blood frenzy when he enters battle and being a bit more of a demanding lover. He also is a possible rival to Ragnar the Younger.

King Verse

Canon Time Setting

After Kjartan, Sihtric became King in Northumbria, disregarding Bebbanburgh and the authority of whatever Saxon King reigns. He is a just king, but his heart is quite hard. He wars against other Dane Kings and Saxon Kings alike.

As with all the posts like this, this is just to get some of the basics of this verse and what it would entail out there for people to see. Please note: in this universe Peter will NOT have spider powers. We're not doing any were-spiders here(actually that sounds truly HORRIFYING to think about) so this is just being a supernatural being.

Werewolf basics:

No one knows the origin of where werewolves came from. All the old stories about them from various cultures have been suggested as starting points but no one knows for sure.

People are either born as werewolves or have to be bitten during a full moon to pass it along. This rarely happens and is often either by accident or because a human partner has decided to change as well. The bite has to be deep and it is painful.

There is no weakness to silver, that's just Hollywood. Werewolves do, however, have a natural and severe allergy to Wolf's Bane(think how lavender is really bad for your cat). The symptoms include coughing, severe respiratory distress, nausea, weakness/fatigue, fever, and in severe exposure cases even death. There are treatments available, but it's never a guarantee with heavy exposure.

The change is into just a large wolf. The bipedal and anthropomorphic appearances is, once again, just Hollywood.

Werewolves can shift at will, however they are forced to at the peek of the full moon(the full moon lasts three days, they're forced into the change on the second day). Many will shift before moonrise to make the change easier and less sudden.

Werewolves largely leave humans, and other beings, alone, even when shifted. They hunt other animals but will only lash out at people when threatened, scared, or injured, just like any wild animal. There are of course exceptions to this, but the vast majority are, for the most part, harmless.

Headcanons:

Both of Peter's parents were werewolves, and so was Uncle Ben. Aunt May, however, is human. She was never changed and has no intention of being changed. His parents and uncle were killed by hunters.

While most packs in the city are all werewolves, Peter's own is mixed. This is in part due to the fact that May is human, but also because his pack is more of a "found family" and thus any friends he's especially close to get invited into it. (each Peter have similar and different members, and a lot will be thread/partner specific)

Peter shifts into a large, brown wolf.

There's a cabin outside of New York that was owned by Peter's parents and passed to his aunt and uncle when they died. It's used as a place for the entire pack to go to sometimes for the full moon, so he and the other werewolf members can shift and actually run around a forest for a change.

After a shift, especially the full moon, Peter is near ravenously hungry and exhausted from the amount of energy it takes. May always called out for him in school so he could rest most of the day to sleep off the worst of it.

The pack has no real leader, however everyone still agrees that it's May, even if she denies it.

Peter has not killed people as a wolf, he has however severely injured several people who have tried to hurt him or another pack member. While he's not aggressive like most people stereotype werewolves to be, he is fiercely protective of anyone else who's a pack member.

Leading up to the full moon Peter tends to get more and more energetic. He talks more, struggles to keep still, and also has more body language communication. Things like leaning on people, making sounds similar to growling, and can be quicker to agitate in tense situations.

Peter tends to lay on his partners when he's a wolf. He can't hug them so it's the next best thing. And yes, ear scratches are welcomed and encouraged.

Peter has a cord necklace of a wooden wolf that's a protection charm(as in actual magic) from when he was a kid, passed down to him by his parents. It's one of his most valued possessions, and when he married it'll be passed on to whoever his partner is, or their child if they have one.

Monster AU

Ace was born human, but as he, Luffy, and Sabo went through the forest, Ace found a wolf pup whimpering in the woods. Thinking not much of it, he tries being friendly and taking care of the pup, and when he does *c H O m p* the dog bites him and runs off.

Ace (not wanting to be the crybaby) holds his hand in pain unaware he got bitten by a werewolf.

Every full moon, Ace transforms into the werewolf, (hind legs, wolf like stature, we ain't Twilight here) completely disregarding people and doesn't even remember his friends. He definitely has moments where he acts like a dog during his transformation but soon lashes out as the full moon appears.

He even doesn't remember what happened the next day!

He tried going to many different apothecary's but doesn't have a cure for that.

He sails on his Striker, still able to possess the devil fruit, although the fruit completely nulls when he's a werewolf.

PJO Ace

Ace is the son of Helios and is the leader of his house. Despite not having much people, he still loves the kids that enters his cabin.

Similarly to Percy Jackson where he can control water, Ace can control fire and can radiate his body to match the temperature. (Ex. He shrugs if it's summer and there's no wind, telling people he's fine). Ace tends to scare the newer kids by picking up a log from the fire he just built and starts playing around with it. It doesn't hurt him, he has no nerves.

He hates morning meetings and will sleep in unless it's important and unless he is needed.

Even during Capture the Flag, he doesn't usually get into it unless the team he is on or his cabin is losing.

His main weapons are daggers and the sun. He heats up his daggers and soon they become a heating weapon that people don't want to touch.

i Got some questions for the werewolf au.

If volo is in the modern time is there a little Cynthia daughter of volo and cogita.

Do the werewolf in the au follow the same rules as other werewolf like full moon transformation and what happens when a human is attacked, bitten or scratch by a werewolf do they have werewolf side effects like gain a effects or 2 from the werewolf like hair growth, claws or sudden personality change or full werewolf transformation like in the movies.

I asking this because in the au Kieran takes a liking to Florian and be very clingy to him digging his claws into Florian's skin to Florian's likings and have to wrapped the scratch wounds. How would the teal mask story go without the Pokémon.

Is there a academy the twin players go to.

How would ms briar and her ancestor heath fit in the au both of them study the most important story plot in paldea, terapagos, tera crystal and area zero.

Nemona's family is rich and she have a who older sister taken over the family business and story for the au the older sister have a frame photo of her and her younger sister playing together when they are younger on her work table.

Even though Nemona's family is rich and snobby they still missed their Baby girl when she was lost during a camping trip in the forest, they set up a missing posters for her and pay high class trackers to find their nemona alive and would increase the prize money on her birthday and the day she disappeared, even though they are snobby rich on the outside they are sad on the inside missing nemona they would pay any amount of money to get there nemona back.

The family would go to the same place where nemona was first lost every year on her birthday where they leave a piece of her favourite birthday cake flavor and a birthday present as a offering if she passed away in the forest.

And the character Billy and o'nare in the teal mask dlc are heavily implied to be nemona'parents.

Any idea for perrin looking for the blood moon beast.

Is the trip to kitakami in the au still a field trip for the students to be looked after by ms briar.

Random thought. The fact that briar called jacq quite charming and like it when he be delightfully direct this sounds like briar has a liking to jacq and

HOLY COW THIS IS A LOT! but thanks for your time typing this :D Sorry it took so long to answer, I needed time to sit down and look this over.

Like I mentioned before, Lycan's Plight (werewolf AU) does not take from the canon pokemon-verse, so pokemon and anything to do with time machine and the great crater does not exist in this world. Werewolves, in this world, do not infect other human if they are bit or scratch, but there has been experiments on a "what if" if human and werewolf DNA can combine (like with Arven, for example). Also, wolves can transform into their beast form at any point, without the aid of a full moon, but their strength does increase when there is one! -Easier to control their beast form.

The story with the twins (Juliana and Florian) and the sibling wolves (Carmine and Kieran) hasn't grown yet, just waiting for the second DLC to drop, but once I finish that, I could tackle their story in the AU.

I am actually in the camp of "Billy and O'Nare have nothing to do with Nemona and her family), so in the AU, they are not related either; although, I was thinking of an idea that one of them may have a werewolf fur coat... twisted, I know! Maybe they may know of the wild child and maybe know who her parents are. I do like the idea that her parents coming back to the place they last saw her in hopes she might return. Funny enough, something similar happen to Geeta when she was a pup; she was separated from her pack in a terrible snow storm and was alone until she found Rika.

Perrin will stay human and maybe wants to take photos of werewolves, maybe even finding proof that the wolves do live like humans did long ago, living in clans and having a culture; not all humans are bad.

As for Briar and Jacq, well, there has been cases of human and werewlves forming a "forbidden relationship", so maybe she might have a little bit of feels for the fuzzy Jacq lol

Russell's habit of sleeping around has caught up to him. His masochism got him bitten by a one night stand partner with lycanthropy.

Alternatively, in the canon-compliant verse where he's a minor, he was attacked by a wolf in the grove of fruit trees bordering Xenotime.

I Found Something in the Woods Somewhere // Nerve Plant Dryad AU

While on a walk through the woods to calm his mind, Russell was startled by a raccoon suddenly jumping on him from a tree, and proceeded to cuss the animal out as it scampered away. He could've sworn the damn thing's chittering was laughter. Unbeknownst to him at the time, the raccoon was the familiar of a very powerful witch, and they did not take kindly to the unsavory things Russell said. 'Want to be a little bitch? Fine. Stay one forever.' And Russell awoke the next day to find that he had been cursed to become a dryad following the needs and behavior of fittonia albivenis, nerve plants.

Babe, There's Something Tragic About You // Rabbit Chimera AU

The Amestrian government found out that the Tringham brothers immigrated there illegally. The alternative to being deported back to Drachma, where they surely would've died at the hands of the men their father was running from, they were captured. Fletcher managed to escape before he could be experimented on but Russell wasn't so lucky. Fletcher came back for him but it was too late and Russell had been transmuted with a rex rabbit. The brothers now live life under fake names and dodging the bounty placed on them.

Young Gangstar Flip the Kill Switch // JoJo's Bizarre Adventure AU

Jumping ship from one country to the other was a massive risk, especially since the reason for fleeing involved escaping the Russian mafia. Stranded in Italy and desperate for money to keep his brother and himself afloat, Russell bit the bullet and sought out the capo Polpo to join Passione. With his Stand, Kottonmouth King, Russell wormed his way into the regime headed by the capo Bruno Bucciarati.

Run, Run, Run Away // The Mandela Catalogue AU

Mandela County has never been a fun place to live. The shapeshifting monstrosities slowly taking over definitely does not help that. Russell has just been trying to scrape by, at least enough to get out of the blast radius and skip town. It doesn't go as planned and he winds up working himself to the bone to get both he and his brother out of Mandela. The nightly assaults on the house from Alternates doesn't help.

V: Hell is Forever/Heaven is a Lie: Based in the universe of Vivziepop's shows Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss. Haven't decided on everyone yet, but some muses would definitely live in Hell while others would be in Heaven. For example, Bellona would almost have to be a Hellhound for obvious reasons (Big Bad Wolf = Gluttony), while I see Dexter as being a Sinner (I mean I have them being a satanist soooo...). Clawrissa, Maulissa & Nora make sense as Winners, and I see Alissa as being an reluctant Exorcist.

Collegiate Verse(Name Pending): Inspired in part by wildwheatfields's Monster University AU. Take the teenagers and make them young adults, exchange a high-school setting for a college but maintain the whole monster/fairytale premise. May make the default verse going forwards.

V: You Wanted Monsters: Creature Commandos verse where some muses are made less than willing weapons for the US government of the DC universe à la James Gunn's show. (Haven't read the comics yet.) So far I've decided on Bellona being a werewolf in this verse, who has made some dubious decisions in her past in order to survive.

V: This Monster Life/Here I Am: 2 verses based around the Nickelodeon Monster High show and live action movies respectfully. I'm not gonna go into much detail here, a lot of the changes to the premise are minor(Still a high-school for monsters of all kinds to study at!) And I don't know how popular these will be! Might also add a verse for the G1 comics/ Once Bitten Twice Dead continuity.

Abby's father, consider him a Van Helsing type; a doctor specializing in cures to the uncurable - be it possession or vampirism or werewolfism -- all those things that the scientific world says are impossible, making him a laughing stock in the modern sciences but a bit of a mad genius in the world of things that go bump in the night. Whether or not he has ever genuinely been successful at reversing vampirism (if caught early enough) or curing the curse of the moon (or at least, taming the symptoms enough to allow a werewolf to live a mostly normal life) et al. is up for debate but his name is revered by hunters and loathed by monsters. It was only natural that Joel would hear of him and bring Ellie to him, to find out what she is, and how to help her, with the doctor's assurances that he could fix what ailed her. What he came to learn was that Ellie could be the missing piece to reverting almost any vampire or werewolf to their human state, but it would cost Ellie's life to extract what he needed. Joel only barely managed to get Ellie away from him in time, and was forced to kill him to stop him. He fled with Ellie, unknowingly leaving Anderson's daughter, Abby, now an orphan with a vendetta of her own. (Also thinking maybe Abbys' mother had been bitten at one point, was being held somewhere 'for her safety' by the dad, Ellie's sacrifice would have cured her mother and all the other afflicted, making it especially personal?)

MODERN (or historical) AU; generic supernatural based. The world has vampires, werewolves, ghosts, restless undead, and all manner of things that go bump in the night that most of the world thinks only exists in fairy tales and scary bedtime stories. This story takes the canon plot lines for Joel, Ellie and Abby and adapts them for a modern setting to allow a wider range of plots for those that do not have apocalypse / tlou / twd / re / zombie et al based verses. The default for my characters here is still the TLOU / general apocalypse vibes verse. This modern supernatural verse is available by request only.

For all intents and purposes, I will be assuming that the Joel, Ellie and or Abby referenced in this plot is my own - if you write one of those characters and want to use this verse setting to write with mine that's totally okay but I am not going to assume / godmod this verse with other writers of those muses.

Verses

verse 1 !

Gary's Hogwarts years, from him getting the letter to his graduation. He is doing pretty well in class, receiving mostly top grades and occasionally even teachers' praise, especially in the practical subjects like Charms, Herbology, Care for Magical Creatures and Potions, but doesn't like to study much. He is the life of the party, throwing parties in Ravenclaw's (or Hufflepuff's or Griffindor's, to be honest, he has friends there, so he knows how to get in... he also has some connections among Slytherin students and theoretically could get into their common room but that is not the crowd who would thrive at his parties and honestly he wouldn't want to see most of them at his parties, they are too stuck-up in his opinion) common room and from his fourth year onwards also in the Room of Requirement. He is also pretty willing to help others, especially those on lesser years, known for giving tours and explaining Hogwarts mythology and the way things work here, like ghosts and staircases that change direction etc, to first years

verse 2 !

The First Wizarding War and Gary's involvement in it, from his graduation to him being bitten by Fenrir; he's a member of the Order and the building he lives in has a lot of magically and not only magically hidden rooms, mostly on the basement levels but also some living quarters on the top floor, which are mainly used as a shelter for those in hiding because of the war, but also as an occasional headquarters type of thing for the Order and as a place for the Order's members and victims of the Death Eaters to be healed if they can't go to Saint Mungo's because even though healing magic is not his forte, his bestie has a talent and also roped into this some of the healers from Saint Mungo she knows from her undergoing training there

he also pursues career in fashion, designs clothes professionally and owns a shop which is situated on the first and second floor of the building he lives in

verse 3 !

Gary being bitten by Fenrir, turning him into werewolf, and coping very badly with it... basically, everything that happens between the bite and his bestie giving him a long heartfelt speech that makes him want to make an effort after he recovers from alcohol poisoning and OD that nearly killed him

verse 4 !

Gary trying to move on with his life in the light of his new affliction and his bestie's support; he is still depressed in this verse, which is part of the reason he lost inspiration to design clothes, and in all honesty the effort he makes at doing something with his life instead of speed-running to its end is mostly about him not wanting to let his bestie down and upset her rather than about him doing it for his own sake which is honestly... baby, you need therapy; but he's not getting it and he's not generally talking about his affliction or his feelings, pretending that he's moved on and fine now and there's nothing to talk about... so this should be fun *nervous laugh*

Since Gary lost his inspiration to design clothes, he pursues another career and I have three possibilities in mind so you get three verses:

He becomes a bartender (technically, he is also the owner of the bar, but he likes mixing drinks and listening to patrons much more than doing owner's duties, so those mostly become his co-owner's - who is his bestie in the default verse but we can plot for your muse to become the co-owner - responsibility)
