Congrats on 1k! Is there any possibility you could write for Lena Oberdorf x Reader again?
You can write up the scenario or situation, but can you make it around the trope "(reader) fell in love first, but (lena) fell in love harder"
🩷 Congrats again!
Hiiiii - so I actually really struggled with coming up with a concept for this but I actually adore the way it came out and I hope you guys do too. <3
Hopeless Romantic
Lena Oberdorf x Reader
Description: R fell first but Lena fell harder
Word Count: 1.5k
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were a hopeless romantic, and you always had been. From a young age, your mother had told you stories filled with fantasies, enchanting tales of falling in love, and magical adventures before bed. These stories captivated your imagination and embedded themselves deep in your heart. This enchantment with love carried through your childhood, grew stronger in your teenage years, and followed you well into adulthood. You were utterly in love with the idea of love itself. The fluttery feeling in your heart when someone you liked was nearby, the way your stomach flipped and flopped whenever you imagined your future partner – these sensations were the highlights of your romantic daydreams. They shaped your desires, hopes, and dreams, colouring your world with a rosy hue.
It was unsurprising when you came home from football one afternoon when you were just six years old, gushing about the newest girl on the team. You were instantly best friends, a baby-faced Lena and a wide-eyed you were inseparable. You made your way up through the ranks, eventually going into the national age groups together. Lena had always been the pragmatist between the pair of you, keeping her feet on the ground as your head soared amongst the clouds.
As you grew older, your bond with Lena only strengthened. She was your rock, the one who grounded you when your romantic fantasies threatened to carry you away. While you spent hours dreaming about the perfect love story, Lena reminded you to live in the moment and cherish the present. Her practical nature complemented your dreamy disposition perfectly, creating a balanced friendship that stood the test of time. Even as you navigated the complexities of adulthood, your hopeless romanticism remained intact, continually influenced by the enchanting tales of love that had shaped your childhood and the enduring friendship with Lena that kept you rooted in reality.
Moving to Wolfsburg had been just the jolt you needed; both your parents had insisted you move in together, although that had never been in any doubt. It was in the quiet moments at home that you began to feel what you had dreamt about as a child. The peaceful comfort of a person rather than a place. The security you felt knowing that she was a mere moment away.
In the evenings, you would often sit together on the balcony, the city lights twinkling below, and talk about your future. Lena, ever the pragmatist, would outline sensible plans and achievable goals, while you, the hopeless romantic, would weave dreams of passionate love stories and idyllic moments. Despite your differing outlooks, there was a shared understanding and respect that made your bond unbreakable. You couldn’t really pinpoint when you went from two best friends to something more, but you wouldn’t change it for the world.
Romantic moments were woven into the fabric of your lives. One evening, as you prepared dinner together, Lena surprised you by playing your favourite song. She pulled you into an impromptu dance in the kitchen, the two of you laughing and twirling amidst the aroma of simmering sauce. Another time, you planned a spontaneous weekend getaway to a quaint countryside cottage. There, under a blanket of stars, you whispered sweet nothings and shared dreams of the future, feeling as if you were the only two people in the world. On a rainy afternoon, you both built a cozy fort out of blankets and pillows in the living room. With hot chocolate in hand, you read to each other from your favourite books, creating a warm cocoon of love and comfort. During your walks in the park, you would steal kisses under the vibrant green canopy above you, the leaves falling like confetti around you, encapsulating your love in a perfect moment.
Everyone could tell that you two were so desperately in love with each other. Whilst you were more open with it – often showering Lena with praise and attention until a pretty, pink blush settled on her cheeks and wrapping yourself around her like a vine crawling up a building, relying on it for strength and stability to prosper in its environment – it was clear Lena had fallen just as hard. Though more reserved, Lena's love showed in the gentle ways she cared for you: the way she always made sure your favourite snacks were stocked, how she remembered every little detail you shared, and the soft, lingering touches that spoke volumes without a single word.
To the outside world, you were polar opposite. Fans couldn’t fathom how two people seemed so different yet so perfect for each other. You were fast, often using speed and skill to dodge opposing players and shying away from anything too physical (although you could land a good tackle on someone if needed). Lena was totally different, never afraid to slide in or leave a harsh shove on someone. The crowd never really heard you shout either – yet somehow, the synchronicity between you and Lena was unreal. You had the highest rate of goals and assists within the league, and you were unstoppable at the national level as well.
During practice, you two would often be the last ones on the field. You’d practice free kicks while Lena would perfect her defensive moves, always pushing each other to be better. After an exhausting session, you’d collapse on the grass, breathless but laughing, sharing stories and dreams until the stars came out. These moments, though simple, were the essence of your relationship – a blend of passion, dedication, and an unspoken love that transcended words
It was a harsh game between Wolfsburg and Bayern – they always were, but this one felt a little different. It was your last battle in green. It felt strange, knowing the next time you were going to be in this situation, you would be dressed head to toe in red and looking to slip one or two past your best friends.
It was Eriksson who had tackled you – her body appearing from nowhere as you raced towards the goal. It had been a clean one, but that didn’t stop you clattering to the ground in a heap of red and green. It stung, but you knew you were fine. You lay flat on your back, your chest heaving as you looked up at the bright blue sky above you when a face appeared. Her expression wasn’t visible to you, but you didn’t need light to see it. You knew her far too well. Her narrowed eyes, her furrowed brow, her lip tucked in between her teeth.
“Baby?” She called out to you. Her hand coming to rest against your cheek. You leaned into to, relishing in the warmth. You brought one hand up to keep it there, loving the way her warm, rough fingers felt against your skin.
“I’m ok, bubs,” you promised, smiling up at her. “Help me up?” You began to move, patting her hand that was resting on your face.
“No,” she all but shouted. You jolted back, a little shocked at the volume. “No, you’re hurt. You need a medic,” she insisted, looking over to the bench.
“What? No, I’m ok, it’s fine.” But Lena was already signalling for the medics, her worry evident. As they rushed over, she stayed by your side, holding your hand tightly, her eyes never leaving yours.
“This is totally unnecessary,” you huffed. You felt Lena squeeze your hand. You looked up and saw the nervousness in her face. The medics examined you, and as expected, you were given the all-clear. But the concern in Lena’s eyes didn’t fade. She helped you up gently, her arm around your waist as if she was afraid, you might crumble again. You could feel the tension in her touch, the way she seemed to shield you from the world. She left a long, lingering kiss to your forehead before she went back to her position, her eyes never wondering as the medics walked with you to the sideline.
Later that evening, after the match, when you were wrapped tightly around each other in your little living room, the adrenaline finally wearing off. Lena was unusually quiet, her fingers tracing absent patterns on your skin. You reached out, taking her hand in yours.
“Hey,” you said softly, “I’m really ok. It was just a scare.”
Lena sighed, her eyes meeting yours with a mixture of relief and lingering worry. “I know. I just… I hate seeing you get hurt. I can’t help it.”
You smiled, squeezing her hand. “And that’s why I love you. Because you care so much. But I promise, I’m tougher than I look.”
She laughed softly, the tension easing from her shoulders. “Yeah, I know. You’re my tough little romantic.”
I hope you enjoyed it <3<3<3<3

Home is, whenever I'm with you | Lena Oberdorf
Tumblr media
Lena Oberdorf x german!bayern munich!reader
Summary: Lena suprises you with her move to your childhood club. To finally be with you properly.
Warnings: a bit of angst, fluff
English is not my first language
Masterlist

Girl, I never loved one like you
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
You grew up in Munich. Everything you know is there. Your famil. Your friends. Your bestfriend, Sydney. Your club.... Everything you loved was in one place. Exept your home, your lover, Lena Oberdorf. She plays for Wolfsburg. That wouldn't be the problem, even trought its the rival, but Wolfsburg is too far away from Munich, to see each other more then once in a month. And its slowly infecting your realationship.
It's started when you both grow out of the honeymoon phase. That doesn't mean you're stopped being smitten about each other. But the distant made it worse. A 6 hours drive or a one hour flight. It started to come to much.
It wasn't because of the lack of trust you have for each other. You trust each other very much. But you missed the closeness, the cuddles or the kisses. The things you would only get, if you play each other or in the german camp. It was rarely that one come to visit the other. To caught up with training for your clubs.
So everytime the national break started, you follow each other like lost puppies. It's mostly Lena, who follows you everywhere. Her Wolfsburg teammates will tease all the time, when the break is going to start or gets closer. But she doesn't care. She only cares about being close to you.
But you follow her everywhere too. And your teammates tease you about that too. Like obi, you don't care either. You're just happy being with her again.
-
To the problem is only one solution. One has the move clubs. But you both are too stuborn.
"I'm not moving away, liebling. (Darling) I have everything here."
"I change would look on you, baby. You can't always stay in the same place your whole life." Obi argues back on a face time call. It wasn't a fight. More like a discussion, in wich you both bring the same arguments over and over again.
"You know i can't handle change. And it would be a change for you too."
"I know you can't. And i already had a change. I moved from Essen. There wouldn't be so much change. You know half of the from national and you got friends with Lynn."
You look away, to the wall, feeling defeated. "Ha Gotcha, Schatz. (honey)" Obi said happily. "If you move to Bayern, you can play with and see Lea more often." You knew what the Lea card would do. You know that Lena misses to play in the same team as Lea, like in Essen.
"Didn't you wanted to show me your new tattoo idea?" Obi distracts from the topic.
You knew Obi wants to distracts from the topic. She was a bad loser and she knew how right you were, Obi just didn't want to admit that. So you played along.
"What do you think of something like that?" You showed her a page from your sketchbook.
Since then none of you dared to bring up the topic again. In the meanwhile Obi has gotten an offer from bayern munich. She didn't know what to do with it. Should she tell you? Should she ignore it? These question were toturing her mind.
-
Her solution: She's going to ask on national break what you would say if she got an offer from your beloved club.
But unfortunately the right time wouldn't come to Lena. Everytime she was close of telling you something happened. So she finally decide to say it to you no matter what.
She walked into the chill room, wich she knew you mostly are. You were there but you talked with Sydney. She didn't mean to overhear, but she stayed as she heard her own name out if your mouth.
"I love Lena, but i don't know how long it's going to work" Obis face fell. She doesn't want you to think like that. She wants to be with you forever. With sad face she walks away. She talks to you after your conversation with Sydney. But she stopped as she heard Sydney speaking.
"Don't say stupid shit like that. It's going to work out. You both are so smitten and follow each other like lost puppies. It makes me love sick. It's getting to the point to become disgusting."
"Yeah because your Single" you chuckle and on Obis face a smile grows.
"But i'm serious. If you leave, then there would be nothing much different. You still have me and Klara. We still be friends and pull pranks on camp or annoy Laura. Okay? You still got us and the team. We're a big family." Sydney hugs you.
'That's why' Obi realized. You're scared that if you move, your friends will turn their back on you. Obi walked away with smile. Knowing what she's about to do, calling her agent.
-
You were more then suprised as Lena said she will be visiting for a few days, but gadly take it. With Lena being in Munich you were happier. Sydney and Klara took notice of it and asked themselves why. But they got the answer, when Lena picks you up from training.
"Hope it wasn't too boring, being alone." You kissed Obi. After you two broke apart, you hugged her. Behind your back Sydney, Klara and Georgia made gagging faces. Lena rolled her eyes at them.
"No it wasn't, Liebling" It really wasn't. It was exhausting. She was talking with the club, her agent and the Bayern coach. All to negotiate her move to Bayern Munich.
-
The day she signed the contract she had mixed feelings. The tought of leaving Jule behind haunted her. But the blonde told her to go, to get her girl. It made Obi feel a bit better about it, but not fully. The other side was excitment. To be near you. To kiss you everyday. To cuddle with you. To cook with you. To do everything with you.
-
Before the national camp in february the romurs of Lenas move spread over. You saw it too, of course. You didn't know how to feel. There was hope, but you knew to not trust rumors. And Obi wasn't a help either. She only said that she didn't know how or why there are rumors. It broke her heart to see your face fell, just to cover it up quickly with a smile.
-
On the 14th february her move to Bayern will be officinal. She came to munich for the day, because of valentines. She knew you had a came on the evening, so she took you on a date for lunch. The whole day you weren't allowed to look on your phone. You wondered why and asked her. She only told you it would ruin her suprise.
After lunch in your favourite restaurant she took you to your favourite park, in wich you finally were allowed to look on your phone. You looked confussed at her but did anyway.
"Now go on insta"
"Obi what have you done?"
"Nothing" she smiles at you.
You looked on your phone your confussed look turned into shock. You looked up at Obi, who smiled slyly at you. "Suprise?"
"You fucking idiot. I love you" You run to Lena and hug her. "But why would you do that? You didn't had to"
"I know. But i love you. And Bayern didn't Sound that bad." With that she kisses you. Happy play with you next season and to in with you

water won't hurt you
lena oberdorf x curlyheaded!reader
summary: lena will get her girlfriend to go into the water, one way or another
warnings: none
Tumblr media
in ibiza, you are lounging on a comfortable sunbed. the summer gave you the chance to relax from the hard-work that came from being a footballer.
soaking in the rays in your favorite swimsuit, you wore a wide-brimmed hat shielding your face from the intense sun. it was a random navy blue yankees hat from back home.
the ocean wasn’t too far away from you, in fact it was just twenty feet ahead. however, you would go in the water if the water stayed at waist-height.
your thoughts drifted to your hair every time you had to surround yourself in a beach or pool setting. in the soccer/football community, you're known for your perfectly straightened hair, a far cry from its natural 3b curly state.
you spent hours last night with the straightener, making sure that it looked good for the beautiful day out in ibiza, and the last thing you want is for it to get wet and revert to its original form.
beside you, your girlfriend lena is a picture of carefree joy. her laughter rings out as she has her hands directly above her eyes trying to watch a tiktok on the phone. she is lying beside you, so you can see the tiktok of a random baby waving their hand in the air.
in the epitome of summer relaxation, you smiled at your girlfriend’s laughter as you ran your fingers through her soft brown colored hair. over two years ago, you fell in love with lena when she was playing at wolfsburg and you were at bayern. your love has only grown since then. you fell for her first, she fell for you harder. its obvious since she is leaving wolfsburg to be closer to you.
after turning her phone off– lena glances at you, her eyes sparkling with mischief through the sun rays. “baby, we should go over there,” she says, pointing at an area where a bunch of adults layed. you didn’t have a chance to speak before she stands up and brushes off the sand from her legs.
you stood up, slipping on your sandals and following her along the winding path by the shore. you guys didn’t grab your stuff on the sand because you guys are coming right back according to lena.
the salty breeze feels refreshing on your soft skin, but you’re constantly aware of how close the water is. you hoped that last-night's hair routine wouldn’t go down the drain.
as you turn a corner, following your girlfriend, a breathtaking sight greets you. there was a small cliff that juts out into the turquoise water. it wasn’t a huge area but it's a perfect spot for a dive, and you can see a few people already enjoying the thrill of jumping into the clear inviting sea by diving in themselves.
lena’s eyes light up as she stops just five feet before the edge.  “i’m going to jump in, come in with me” she exclaims, practically bouncing on her toes as she holds her hand out for you to grab.
you feel a twinge of anxiety. “um– i don’t think so, lena. i don’t want to get my hair wet,” you reply, glancing nervously at the water.
lena narrows her eyes, giving you a look you know all too well. “oh, come on! just this once? water will not hurt you or your beautiful hair.” she pleads, stepping closer to the edge of the cliff as she gave you her signature smirk.
you shake your head, backing away. “no way! you know how long it takes to straighten my hair sweetheart, I don’t want to go through that again.”
lena sighs, but there’s a mischievous glint in her eye. “you shouldn't be worried about your hair love. you should to live a little.”
you cross your arms, standing firm. “i don’t know lena. I don’t want to do this.”
lena takes a step closer, her playful expression turning into that suspicious look you know all too well. “are you sure about that?” she asks, her voice lowering conspiratorially.
your eyes widen as you see her take another step. your eyes widen and you step back as you realize what she’s planning. “lena, no!” you shout, taking another step back.
before you can make a run for it, lena is already moving. you take off, sprinting down the rocky path, but she’s too quick. as a footballer, you’re faster in speed but her strength is no match to you. in a few swift strides, she catches up, scooping you up effortlessly in her arms.
“baby, no, please! don’t!” you squeal, struggling half-heartedly to get out of her arms as she laughs.
“too late!” she exclaims, holding you tightly as she approaches the edge of the cliff. after a few steps– she leaps off the cliff, holding you tightly. the world seems to pause for a moment as you’re suspended in mid-air, and then you’re plunging into the cool, blue water.
when you surface, gasping for breath– thanking god that you know how to swim– you look down at your hair that stops right by your chest. your hair is soaked, the carefully straightened strands already starting to curl.
you glare at lena, who’s grinning from ear to ear, her laughter infectious as she swims towards you.
“you’re mean,” you say, splashing her playfully. she holds you by your waist in the water as you wrap your legs around her torso. pretending to be mad, you pouted as she laughed.
“you still love me though.” she replies, her voice softening. you smile, knowing she is correct.
you can’t help but smile, the warmth of her embrace and the beauty of the moment making you forget about your hair, at least for now. “i do love you,” you say, leaning in to kiss her.
lena smiles against your lips, her eyes twinkling as she pulls away. “I love you too and i’m sorry– but this was the only way i’d get you in here with me– come on, let’s swim a bit. ” she says, pulling your body along with hers as she starts swimming around.
you laugh, understanding that you couldn’t be mad at your love for this. “alright, alright, you’re forgiven. but you have to redo my hair later!”
“you should leave it curly baby--- its beautiful-- however ill do it tonight if you want.” lena smirks, you nodded your head and blushed in response.
lena’s grin widens at your blush before she lets your body go. she splashes water playfully in your direction and you gasp in shock, “oh it's on!” you say as you swim to chase your fleeing girlfriend.

Fridolina is perfect in your eyes. Too perfect, actually, and it drives you crazy
Fridolina Rolfö x reader
Tumblr media
masterlist
Warnings: jealousy and reader lowkey has issues
A/N: i’m the biggest frido fan on this planet so this sucked to write ily frido 🙁. i wrote this at 12:30 am so it’s not very good + not proofread and i’m very sorry in advance
You grew up loving Spanish football.
The technicality of it was your favourite thing and later on, you tried to incorporate it into your own play style. It set you apart from your teammates and made you stand out… until she came along.
The Swedish talent, incredible defender, the attacking fullback of everyone’s dreams. Fridolina Rolfö. You had played against her a handful of times and she was nothing short of talented; she was probably the first fullback you had seen that dribbled so high up the wing with so much confidence and actually managed to make something out of it.
Your usual position was in the midfield, but when your starting right back got injured, you found yourself shoved into a completely new position. You loved carrying the ball up the field and creating plays or dictating the game, but from the back, you could hardly do that. Due to the lack of real opportunities to let yourself shine, Fridolina got all the attention. The more goals she scored, the more assists she got, the more headlines she made in German sporting media.
The worst part? She was genuinely nice, so you had no proper reason to hate her besides being extremely jealous. She was kind and always complimented you during training and encouraged you during every match.
Your transfer to Barcelona couldn’t have happened at a more convenient time. Just as you were nearing your breaking point with her perfectness, your contract expired and you signed with the Spanish club. You had no intention of renewing with Wolfsburg, not while she was there. You wanted that fresh start, you wanted to thrive in a completely new place and finally learn the Spanish way of football first-hand.
The first season was amazing. You were breaking personal records and putting up performances for your new club, solidifying yourself as a starting player. You made friends and learned many things both on and off the pitch, and on top of that, you won your first couple trophies outside of Germany. You were at the peak of your happiness.
Of course it had to be ruined by a certain Swede arriving at the club only a season later. “(Y/N), it’s such a coincidence! I loved playing with you, so I could never turn down the contract they offered me,” she happily said to you on her first day. You smiled back at her despite wanting to bash your head against a wall, because you couldn’t find it in yourself to be mean.
She stuck with you during her first couple weeks at the club until she got familiar with everyone else; to you, those were the worst weeks of your life as you were forced to confront the reality that she was perfect as ever and you were sickeningly envious of her.
Over the course of the next season, it became harder to understand how she had almost no room for imperfection. Her only flaw was something stupid like not being able to bake which was something you couldn’t do either, so that didn’t make you feel any better.
Everyone in your team loved her. She was a good player, an excellent one even. She was soft spoken and respectful, and a team player who fit right in almost immediately.
She loved cafés and coffee, like Ingrid. She enjoyed kayaking and swimming, like Lucy and Ona. She loved dogs, like Alexia. She liked to travel, like Aitana.
She was everything you wished you could be, and it made you curse her name in the dark emptiness of your bedroom after hours. It made you watch her for a second longer during training, even while you’re on the other side of the pitch. It made you smile at her in the changing room and ask her how she is.
She didn’t even have to try to be adored, whereas it felt like you had been trying to catch anyone’s eye since the beginning of time. She breathed and the media was all over her.
As the season progressed, the envious feeling became a regular thing when you were around Fridolina, so you had gotten used to it. You felt bad for feeling such a way but your heart overpowered your brain and the feelings persisted.
You were having the best season of your career so far, between qualifying for a Champions League semifinal and becoming a league champion once again on top of winning the Copa de La Reina and Supercopa.
During the second leg of the semifinal against Chelsea, you were taken out inside the box, granting your team a penalty. You stepped up to take it with the chance to put you and your team ahead, but before you could even walk up to the spot, blonde hair swished past you and before you could process anything, the ball hit the back of the net and you saw Fridolina running away to celebrate it. You couldn’t even afford to be angry on the surface, because then everyone would know something was wrong and you’d have to come clean and hurt Fridolina and say something that would surely upset her so.. you celebrated with your team. Like anyone in your position would.
That was your breaking point though — her being under the spotlight once again, proving that she’s so magnificent and better than you and perfect.
Perfect, once again.
The worst part was, even as you sat in the changing rooms on your own, fighting back tears, you knew you couldn’t entirely loathe her out of any amount of jealousy. You couldn’t loathe her more than you loathed your own mind, which betrayed you by worshipping her like some sort of idol.
The rude awakening that you worshipped her settled in as you tried to ignore the fact she was the type of person you prayed to be like, to a god you barely believed in.
Fucking perfect angel Fridolina. Damn you.

Public? // Felicitas Rauch
Tumblr media
a/n: based off this request. Hope you like it:)
The tension was thick at home.
Felicitas loved you.
You loved Felicitas.
But that didn‘t change the fact that there was this strange atmosphere ever since the two of you had one of your biggest fight ever.
-
At the age of 15, Feli and you met.
At the age of 16, she asked you out on a date.
After several dates, you asked you to be her girlfriend - it took you some weeks to build up the courage to do so.
At the age of 23, Feli asked you to marry her.
At the age of 24, the two of you were happily married.
Both of you seemed to be happy - you were, but something in Felis mindset shifted which had led to your argument.
She hated that she couldn‘t wear her ring.
She hated that nobody knew she was married.
For the world, you didn’t exist - that‘s how many people knew about you.
You‘re her wife.
She wanted to show everybody how much in love she was with you.
She wanted to post pictures with you,
she wanted to hold your hand in public,
she wanted to be seen with you.
You‘re everything to her and nobody knew about it.
-
It started as a simple conversation.
"Liebe, can we talk about something?" the German asked, taking a seat in front of you. You looked up from your laptop, putting the pen down, so your complete attention was on her. "Is everything alright?" you questioned, a big frown displayed over your features. It was never a good sign to start conversations like that, "what‘s wrong?"
The defender took a deep breath before she answered straightforward, "be my wife." which came out ruder than intended.
Confused, you looked at her, "I am"
"You‘re not" she declared, her jaw tense.
"What‘re you talking about?" you closed your laptop, "does that mean nothing?" wiggling with your ringfinger.
"No" she didn‘t want to get mad but slowly anger started to float through her body, all her emotions discovering the surface, "because I can‘t wear mine!"
Taken back by her outburst, you matched her tone, "that‘s not my fault! You‘re the athlete, not me"
"You wanted us to be private!" her voice raised, "I could‘ve easily taped my ring" with her finger at the brick of nose, she tried to calm down. That’s not the way she wanted it to turn out - not at all.
"I want to be public" she stated, this time a much softer voice talking to you. The voice you could listen hours to.
"I don’t!"
With her voice level back angry and heart hurt, she growled, "Why not?!"
"I don‘t want to"
Your answer only made her angrier as she stood up and walked around the kitchen counter to pour herself a glass of water.
"That‘s not a reason!"
"You know what?!" leaving the chair, you gathered your notes, "I don‘t have to explain myself"
Feli could only watch as you took your laptop and walked away, in the direction of the front door.
Quickly, she followed you, stopping you in your tracks as she grabbed your wrist, her touch gentle, "Where are you going?"
"Away from you!" you felt so hurt, the insult of not being her wife. Was this whole marriage a joke to her?
"Y/n" she started, the hurt on your face visible for her, "please-"
"No, i got the message" you grumbled, "it‘s yours" angrily you took of the ring, slamming it down on the shelf.
Maybe it was childish to take off your ring but you felt helpless. She had been your girlfriend for many years and your wife for a few years, but never, never ever had she hurt you as much with a statement as she just did.
You left shortly after, Feli standing in the hall with an empty expression on her, your ring between her fingers.
She fucked up. She really did and she knew.
-
It was dark outside, 10 minutes before midnight and you still weren‘t home which made her anxious. The varnish of her nails was peeled off, her leg hobbling up and down and her mind racing with worst case scenarios.
Liebe❤️
When are you coming home?
please let me know
Even though you were hurt, you replied to her text. You hated it not reply to her texts and you could imagine how she was feeling, you hated it too when you didn’t know when she was coming home.
You
one hour.
Feli was laying in bed, anxiously watching the clock in your bedroom as she waited for you to come home. There was no way she would fall asleep before she knew you were safely at home.
Exactly an hour later, you opened the front door, walking into your home, eyes puffy and red. The defender didn’t leave the bed, she didn’t try to approach you nor talk to you. She wanted to let you be. Yet that didn‘t stop her from hoping you would join her in bed.
And you did.
Wordlessly you laid down, your back facing her. The German felt her heart sink, usually you would always cuddle her - she really had fucked up.
It took you about 20 minutes before you fell asleep, your body physically exhausted, Feli still wide awake. As your soft snores filled the room the defender was quick to decide what her next move would be. She couldn’t sleep without holding you, so that‘s what she did. Her arms snuggled around waist as she pulled you close, your body relaxing in her touch. She would make it up to you - that was a promise.
-
You woke up alone in bed, the wolfsburg player nowhere to be seen. Making your way out of bed, dressed in a oversized shirt and shorts, you walked in the kitchen, the smell of pancakes hitting your nostrils, "good morning" you muttered as you rubbed your eyes, taking on seat at the bar stool.
"Hey" the german whispered as she took you in, "I made you breakfast" she handed you the plate which was filled with pancakes.
"Thank you"
It was silent for a few moments.
"I‘m sorry" your wife started, "I’m so sorry. You‘re my wife no matter if the world knows that or not- I shouldn’t have yelled at you and I’m so sorry for insulting you like that" she inhaled sharply, turning to you as she gently interwined your fingers, "I love you. You are everything to me"
"Your comment hurt me" you whispered, your head falling against her shoulder as she instantly wrapped her arms around you. Silent tears streamed down your face as she mumbled sweet nothings in your ear.
"I‘m so sorry, baby" multiple kisses were pressed against your head, "I don’t wanna be public if you don‘t want to. I want you to be happy"
Her hands cupped your cheeks as she made you look at her, her eyes determined with her statement, "I love you"
-
"Can you tell me why you don‘t want to be public?" she asked one evening as she held you in her arms with the tv playing in the background. Her tone was gentle, understanding and as if she would accept every answer, she just had to know an answer.
"I like privacy"
And even though, it was indeed true that you enjoyed your privacy, the real reason to stay in secret was because you were afraid. You feared the public and their words. You didn‘t want your relationship to break down because her fans didn‘t like you or your looks or the fact that you don’t play nor enjoy football.
Just you and her.
-
The topic wasn‘t brought up again yet you could see how it killed Feli from day to day, how much it hurt her to take off her ring every morning. Her eyes stopped shining the way they used to, her smile didn‘t reach the corner of her eyes anymore - the light was missing.
She loved you, she really did and she still treated you like a princess but not wearing her ring, not having the opportunity to show you off left her heart in pain.
Which is why you did what you did one day after her training.
The defender came home with a smile tugged on her lips as she told you about her day.
After her story about the day, "I‘m going to shower, baby" she stated, pressing multiple kisses to your cheeks before she walked towards the bathroom, her phone resting on the kitchen counter.
When you heard the shower, it was safe to say that she wouldn‘t come out of the bathroom for at least 20 minutes.
Snatching her phone from the counter, you made yourself comfortable on the couch. Feli never had a problem if you take her phone, she had nothing to hide and was fully convinced that you would never control her which was true. Never ever would you stalk through her phone or anything, most of the time when you used her phone was for music, hay day or when she asked you to reply to someone. You trusted each other blindly and more than anything, so opening instagram, you did the thing that made her happy, hopefully.
You revealed your marriage with a simple post.
Within seconds her phone blew off, notification after notification.

When Feli left the bathroom, you were happily cooking some dinner as music played softly in the background. You swayed with the beat, humming along the lyrics as you prepared your meal.
In the meantime Feli walked in the living room as she heard her phone ring constantly. What was happening?
And then she saw it.
Over a thousand notifications on instagram.
Why?
Your post.
"Liebe!" she yelled while she quickly entered the kitchen.
"Ye-" you‘re cut of as lips were pressed against your own, strong arms wrapping around your waist.
Feli kissed you with every inch of love in her body,
she kissed you with so much happiness,
she kissed you with a new found passion.
When air became a problem, you pulled away, the defender chasing after your lips for multiple pecks.
"What was that?" you asked, completely out of breath, lips swollen and chest heavily rising and falling.
Replying with "A thank you" she cupped your cheeks, thumb softly caressing it, "for the- that the world knows I‘m married and happily so"
your cheeks turned red, her gaze so intense as it was filled with love. She smiled brightly at you, a smile that reached the corner of her eyes.
"I‘m sorry for being so secretive, I was afraid of the outcome- the media and fans but I’m done with it. I love you and it‘s time for everyone to know" you stated in a firm voice, ready to fight the world if needed.
"I‘m so in love with you"
-
Since that day, there hasn't been a day where Felicitas took off her wedding ring. In games, she would tape it up, the same as in training. It was her good luck charm and everybody should know it.

To undo a mistake
part 1/17 - next
- requested! - Lena x Bayern player!Reader
Lena Oberdorf Masterlist
Tumblr media
──✩₊⁺⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧──
"We can still be friends! We can still share the room at camp!" - She said trying to cheer me up.
Of course she would.
it's Lena we're talking about. But it didn't do much for the heartache I felt.
Despite only being together for a couple months, I was so sure of this. So sure we were in for the long run.
We both liked each other very much, but soon realized that living in different cities caused more trouble than you two anticipated.
She played for Wolfsburg and you played for Bayern.
But unlike your girlfriend, now ex, you didn't think that the distance was the biggest problem.
Her not wanting to try harder was.
So here you were in tears in your apartment, talking to her in bed... over the phone.
Yes. Breaking up in the worst way possible. You'd think that out of consideration she would've done it in person.
"Lena, I'm going to hang up now."
"Yeah. Okay. I'm really sorry Y/N."
It had been tough the next couple months, specially when Wolfsburg vs Bayern came up.
It was the end of the first half. You tried your best to keep it to yourself. It was 1 x 0 to your team. Avoided her well enough. Being a forward helped. She spent most part of the game busy with trying to assist or making sure to get the ball through the middle field. When you hear the sound of the referee blowing the whistle, you bolted towards the locker room. Unbeknownst to you Lena tried to catch up, so you two could chat. But seeing this, Pernille was quick to stop her in her tracks. The girls had taken a notice of your change of mood. Even though you hadn't opened up to anyone about it, they knew it most likely had to do with your now ex- girlfriend. They had grown protective of you. You were young, just turned 20. And you were about to complete your first season for Bayern.
Back to the second half, you couldn't keep your head in the pitch. You weren't doing a good game. So you weren't surprised when you were subbed off at the 65' minute. Even when they usually only started subbing later on. Guess it was that bad.
You'd won 3x0. But honestly everything lately felt like a loss somehow.
By the final whistle, you just wanted the day to get over with. The game was away, so you made an effort along with other players, to thank the fans that came to support the team.
But you froze in your steps when you saw something that if your heart wasn't already broken in a hundred pieces, it would definitely be now...
──✩₊⁺⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧──
Hope you guys are excited for this one!
Thank you for the anon who sent in the lovely request! I didn't answer the ask with the story, bc I didn't want to give away the next steps. Still need your help though!
Please leave your comments 🙏🩷

always lucky to have you ➹ l. oberdorf
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: lena oberdorf x reader
summary: you were supposed to have lunch with your girlfriend, but you had an emergency case—so, she decides to visit.
Tumblr media
you sighed as you entered your private office, being the head prosecutor of the law firm was challenging especially with your young age.
you were quite knowledgeable, graduated from yale university when you were just 18. law school was quite a struggle, you were younger than your peers which made it quite easier for them to have you run their errands.
but you had graduated at the top of your batch, finishing as summa cum laude, the highest honor. rather than being a prosecutor in the states as you had dreamed of, you returned to germany—your home country.
you were feeling a bit home sick, being in a new environment can give you that feeling. but it was one of the best decisions that you had ever made.
because—that’s where you met lena, the one who holds your heart so dearly. you remember the first encounter, your childhood bestfriend klara had begged you to watch a football game.
bayern against wolfsburg, when the game had come to an end—you were simply waiting in the crowd. klara wanted to get signatures from the players, and that’s how you caught her eye.
you hummed a small tune, the drumming of your fingers were heard along with it. you had missed the lunch date that you had planned, it wasn’t your fault as there was an emergency case that you had to take on.
“geschäftig, wie immer liebe. [busy, as always love.]” you heard your lover’s voice as you turned to the door, only to see her looking at you with a soft smile.
she held certain things, as you stood up to help her—but she shrugged placing it on your table that didn’t have documents all over.
“lch verstehe, dass sie beschäftigt sind, also habe ich beschlossen, lhnen das mittagessen mitzubringen. [i understand that you’re busy, so i decided to bring you lunch.]” you had hummed as you gave her a soft smile, despite her busy schedule she still made time for you. you had always done the same, however this case was extremely important.
lena had properly looked at your attire, you were clad in the prosecutor gown, the black coat had matched it—but you wore a white tie. but her eyes were on the two rings that you wore, it was hers.
“gib es zu, liebe. [admit it, love.]” you heard lena teased, as you had opened the lunch box that she had prepared for you.
“was gibt es da zuzugeben, baby? [what’s there to admit, baby?]” you slightly teased, as lena felt a bit flustered—she always loved it when you called her that.
“du liebst die ringe, die ich trage. [you love the rings i wear.]” lena hummed as you softly nodded.
“that i do, now will you take a seat and join me love?” you chuckled as she took the seat in front of you, the whole lunch break—you both had talked about your careers.
lena had occasionally fed you as you did the same thing. despite her being the older one in the relationship, as you were just a month younger than her—she would always love it when you’d take care of her.
a perfectly paired match, as klara would say. when one goes, the other one follows. you both had a habit of being one step behind another.

What Would You Do, Baby, If You Only Knew? (That I Can See You) | Felicitas Rauch
Tumblr media
warnings: not proof read 😅
word count: 5618
summary: you don’t think feli can see you but she can…what would you do if you only knew?
a/n: requested and based off taylor swift’s i can see you 🥰
Tumblr media
You’re used to hiding behind the lens of a camera.
It started as a hobby when you were growing up, a way for you to capture moments you didn’t want to forget. It allowed you to be involved in whatever was going on while still staying true to your quiet and shy personality.
Years later and that hasn’t changed even though you have managed to turn your hobby into a full time career.
Working as a professional sports photographer, you have the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet elite athletes and watch them be at the top of the game, all the while living your childhood dream.
You love it and now that you are working for VfL Wolfsburg, you’re enjoying your life even more. Germany is a fascinating country and you are privileged to be able to photograph as many parts of it as you’re able to on your off days.
The staff members of the German football club, your fellow colleagues are lovely and the players you are tasked to photograph are even more so.
They’re a funny, charismatic lot that have absolutely no hesitation in trying to draw you into their chaos.
While you do appreciate their efforts, you are happier watching them enjoy themselves than when you’re actually participating.
Though in the aftermath of a huge win against Bayern, their joy is infectious and it’s the reason why you have a soft grin on your face as you look through the viewfinder of your camera.
As you snap away, trying to catch as many smiling faces in the ongoing locker room party as you can, you revel in the satisfying clicks of your camera shutter.
A few of the players are going out of their way to pose for you, their antics making you laugh as you continue to capture their raw happiness.
Though there is one particular face that you can’t help searching for.
You know that you’re not supposed to be biased, that you are meant to be taking photos of all the players equally but you just can’t seem to help how your camera unconsciously finds one Felicitas Rauch.
It has always been that way with you, from the very first moment you arrived at a training session.
You were introduced to the team and then left alone to start your new job and take photos of them training.
Feli’s big smile, one that seems almost too big for her face at times had quickly become your favourite sight.
Through the nature of your skillset, you’ve seen a lot of pretty things but you’re certain that the word pretty doesn’t do the German fullback justice.
She’s absolutely beautiful. The kind of beautiful that steals the very air out of your lungs.
You know fullbacks are rarely recognised and appreciated for the work they do but you can see Felicitas. You are convinced that she deserves more attention and you hope your photos of her help put her in a bigger spotlight.
You can see her now, as she celebrates with Svenja, pulling the older woman into a tight hug.
Diligently, you snap away with your camera, capturing the heartfelt moment. You know that both players are close and as you glance briefly at the resulting photos on your camera’s small digital screen, you know that they will appreciate you saving the memory for them.
As you discreetly leave the locker room, along with a few other staff members who want to give the players’ their own little bubble, to celebrate as a team, you resolve to look through your photos at a later time and send them to the respective players to keep or to post on their social medias if they felt like it.
It is that thought of your work that distracts you from catching the smile on Feli’s face dim.
She wants you to stay and wonders what she has to do for you to do so.
You’re the team’s photographer and to her, staff members are just as much part of the team as the players are. In her mind, there is only one team and that means that you are entitled to celebrating the win, like any player is. You don’t have to leave early.
Felicitas wants to get to know you better, your tendency to hide behind your camera intriguing her.
She’s attracted to you because of her curiosity but also because she thinks you are too gorgeous to be constantly ducking away from attention.
It’s too bad that you’ve put away any thought of anyone, let alone someone like Feli Rauch being interested in you.
You indulge in daydreams sometimes but you’re confident in the fact that they would only ever remain as figments of your imagination because you have long since assumed that you would spend your life alone.
It is just in your nature.
From a young age, you developed the belief that you are too introverted and too much like a wallflower to be noticed.
You’ve made your peace with it and are content with the life you lead.
If only you knew that Felicitas is planning to turn all that upside down. She can see you and she’s planning on making you well aware of it.
******
It starts when you send her the photos you’ve taken.
In your hotel room, you send each player every photo they are in after reviewing your camera roll and editing some of its contents.
All the players respond with their thanks and this isn’t new. It gives you a warm feeling inside, knowing that they are grateful for your hard work.
You’re just beginning to turn in for the night when there is a knock on your hotel room door.
That is new and surprise is evident on your face when you open it to see Feli standing outside.
She’s clearly dressed for bed, in an old Germany hoodie and shorts. The pair of glasses she is wearing makes your thoughts go straight to how cute she looks.
There’s no camera for you to hide your blush behind and Feli smiles as she notices.
‘W-What are you doing here?’ You stammer, shuffling your feet in embarrassment.
‘I just wanted to say thank you in person.’ Felicitas shrugs easily.
‘Oh. Well you’re welcome.’
Your cheeks flush even redder and the German fullback’s smile widens.
She reaches out to tuck a few strands of hair behind your ear and you freeze at the feel of her fingertips on your skin.
It’s an unexpectedly affectionate gesture that results in your breath audibly catching.
Feli is paying close attention to you and she notes that down immediately.
As you make no move to back away, Felicitas savours how soft your hair feels against her fingers.
‘You look beautiful with your hair down and especially so when you’re blushing. Have a good night.’ She whispers and then she’s gone before you can blink.
You stare at the empty corridor for a moment, unconsciously bringing your hand up to brush against the side of your cheek, right where moments ago, Feli had touched you.
It was only for a few brief seconds and if not for the way your heart is racing, you would be sure you had imagined the whole thing.
As it is, you can hardly believe that it’s not a dream because Feli being even remotely interested in you seems far too good to be true.
******
Feli is intent on making you believe it.
She has been watching you for ages and spending her time trying not to feel it.
It’s nearly impossible for her though, especially when you brush past her in the hallway outside the locker room.
Your hair isn’t tied up like it usually is and it’s the knowledge that her words have clearly had an effect on you that makes her want to learn everything about you.
The tiny bit of physical contact that she had made with you the other night has made her crave more.
She knows exactly how much she sees you, how she’s always been intrigued by you but now she knows that it goes beyond that.
The German fullback wants you. She truly wants you to see yourself the way she sees you.
So what would you do if she went to touch you now?
******
Felicitas starts off small.
As the team is going through their cooling down exercises, Feli jogs up to you. She lightly nudges her arm against yours, startling you slightly and making you nearly drop your camera.
‘Sorry.’ The older woman mumbles sheepishly.
‘It’s okay.’
You readjust your camera and then look up at her.
‘Do you need something?’
‘Not exactly. Can I borrow your camera though? I promise I’ll be careful with it.’
You hesitate. Your camera is precious to you and if it was anyone else, you would have said no straight away.
But it’s Feli Rauch asking.
The particular piece of equipment that you are holding has been with you since your career started. It isn’t just expensive but also holds an enormous amount of meaning to you personally.
You have a number of cameras but this is the one you cherish the most.
‘I’ll stay right next to you the entire time. I just want to try being half as good as you and take photos of the team.’ Felicitas pleads.
You soften and gingerly hand your camera over, making sure that the fullback puts the camera strap on.
‘Danke.’ Feli excitedly says.
She turns towards you and takes a photo immediately.
‘Felicitas what are you doing?’
‘Taking photos of my team. Which includes you.’ She explains, continuing to snap away.
Blushing furiously, you drop your gaze down towards the ground.
‘Hey don’t do that. Your eyes are too pretty to be hidden like that.’
Feli uses her finger to gently tilt your chin upwards, allowing her gorgeous brown eyes to meet yours.
You are speechless and you don’t know if it’s because of her sincere compliment or because of the physical contact.
‘Smile for me.’ The older woman prompts and you do as she asks.
‘See? Like I told you before, you’re beautiful.’ Felicitas murmurs as she shows you the photos she’s just taken.
You shyly thank her and Feli laughs softly.
‘No problem. Want to give me some tips before I try taking photos of our other teammates?’
‘Yeah.’ You nod, always eager to talk about your passion.
You show Feli the basics and then she stands beside you as she takes her photos.
Her fellow players are more than happy to be her subjects and Felicitas has them in fits of giggles as she yells out her instructions.
You can’t help but join in, sharing their laughter.
******
When Feli finally returns your camera, it’s as she promised. In perfect working condition, without a single scratch on it.
She had taken the utmost care with it, correctly inferring how much the device means to you from your earlier hesitation.
‘Thank you. Really. I had a great time learning from you.’ Feli says, her eyes practically shining.
‘It’s no problem. I had fun too.’ You tell her.
‘I can see why you love photography so much. There’s just something special about looking through the lens and having the ability to capture the moment.’
Your eyes widen in surprise. Not many people get why you love photography so much let alone when they are only just beginning to know you.
‘I’m glad you understand.’ You breathe.
Now it’s the German fullback’s turn to blush, her cheeks being dusted a light pink.
You are in awe of the fact that you’ve made a woman so out of your league blush and that gives you a little burst of confidence.
Confidence that leads you to blurt out, ‘Do you want to look over the photos you’ve taken with me? I usually go over all the photos and do some editing before I send them out.’
Felicitas looks delighted.
‘Yeah. I would love that.’
******
That’s how you end up at Feli’s apartment.
You had planned on doing your work in your usual cafe but the Wolfsburg player insisted on inviting you over, saying that it’s the least she can do after you had so generously lent her your camera and given her an impromptu photography lesson.
No matter how many times you said that she didn’t owe you anything, Feli had refused to take no for an answer.
So you get to meet Cinnamon.
The older woman’s brown poodle is an absolute darling and you can’t resist taking a couple of photos of her.
Of course you seek Feli’s permission first and she more than happily gives you the go ahead, on the condition that you send her all the photos.
This you fulfill easily and Felicitas gushes over how cute you’ve made her dog look in them, like Cinny needs any help looking adorable.
She bends down to show Cinnamon the photos on her phone and your heart flutters at the sight.
Be professional, you chide yourself. You have absolutely no right to be thinking about how attractive Feli looks.
It’s a struggle but by the time the older woman straightens back up, you’ve succeeded a tiny bit.
Felicitas smiles, unaware of your internal struggle as she directs you over to her couch.
‘This okay?’ She checks and you nod.
You let her sit down first and cautiously ensure that there is a sufficient amount of space between the both of you before you settle down.
It’s enough of a distance to make you feel safer.
Rather self consciously, you begin the motions of a well practiced routine, taking the memory card out of your camera and inserting it into your laptop.
‘Wow that’s a lot.’ Felicitas breathes as she takes in just how many photos there are.
You chuckle and look closer, scrolling down till you find Feli’s collection of photos.
Clicking past the few she had taken of you, you turn your laptop screen towards her so that she can see her work.
They’re actually quite good.
You fix a few details, cropping some and editing the lighting in others, all the while explaining to Feli what you are doing and why you’re doing it.
Feli watches you in silence, paying rapt attention to everything you are doing.
It’s very clear that you know what you’re talking about and she is quickly becoming obsessed with the very sound of your voice.
She must be staring too obviously because you catch her.
‘Felicitas? Are you okay?’ You nervously ask.
The German player shifts closer to you and her close proximity has your heart rate increasing.
‘Felicitas.’ You breathe and something in her brown eyes changes.
It makes you anxious but all that anxiety disappears when the fullback carefully reaches out to cup your face with one hand, her thumb brushing across your cheekbone.
‘Tell me to stop and I will.’ She softly says.
You open your mouth but no words come out. You’re completely and utterly captivated by her.
‘Tell me to stop and I will.’ Feli repeats, even more quietly as she cautiously closes the distance between the both of you.
Her intentions are clear and you can’t tell her to stop.
She fervently searches your face for any sign that you don’t want this. That you don’t want her as badly as she wants you.
The brunette doesn’t find anything because you do. You want her so incredibly much, more than you’ve ever wanted anything.
When you say nothing, Feli practically brightens with hope and gently presses her lips onto yours.
You gasp into her mouth and respond eagerly.
Feli smiles against you and picks up her pace.
Enthusiastically, she slides her free hand into your hair and she lightly pushes you down, so that your back meets her couch.
Your laptop is long forgotten and you barely register the thump that it makes as it slips off your lap and onto the carpeted floor.
The older woman takes advantage of the newly created space and swings her leg over your body, so that she’s straddling you.
You moan at the feel of her hips against yours.
The soft noise further encourages Felicitas who having drawn back slightly to breathe is kissing you again. This time without holding back.
Her fingers tug none too gently on your hair eliciting a groan from you as you slip your free hands up and under Feli’s shirt.
Your heart skips a beat when you feel the goosebumps that form under your touch. It spurs you on and you continue exploring her body, trying your best to memorise the way her muscles flex as you do so.
Feli moans your name when your fingertips smooth across her abs.
If she hadn’t drawn you in before that, she has now because you’ll do anything to hear it again.
******
When you leave Feli’s apartment, it’s with kiss swollen lips and tangled hair.
As Felicitas sees you out, she pulls you flush against her and brings her lips down to meet yours one more time.
‘For good measure.’ She winks before gently pushing you out and closing her door, leaving you a flustered mess.
******
You’re barely in your car when your phone chimes with a notification.
It’s Feli tagging you in an Instagram post, featuring the photos she’d taken of you earlier. Photos that you had sent her after your impromptu makeout session.
The post is captioned, ‘I can see you.’
It is followed by a winky face emoji that causes you to blush all over again.
******
You wait at the end of the hallway, outside the locker room for the older woman.
When she does emerge, she saunters over to you and wraps an arm around your shoulders, pulling you into her side.
‘Hello.’ She murmurs, kissing the top of your head just once.
‘Hi.’ You answer, with a breath of relief.
It still amazes you that Felicitas pays attention to you. That she sees you.
Then Felicitas does what she’s been thinking about since she saw you waiting down the hall.
She ducks into the first empty room she notices and tugs you in with her.
Your yelp of surprise is silenced by her lips on yours, the bruising kiss that she gifts you with making you weak in the knees.
It’s perfectly as she visualised, the shocked look on your face as she pins you up against the wall before you melt into her, completely and utterly willing to let her do as she pleases.
The way you look at her is nothing short of reverence and Felicitas knows that she will never take advantage of you. Not when she is beginning to look at you in the same manner.
******
Feli keeps everything professional and you try your best to do the same but something’s changed.
She can’t stop herself from showing her newfound affection towards you. She smiles at you all the time and you cannot help but capture all of those little moments through the lens of your camera.
In the back of her mind, from her spot on the training field, she is always thinking about you.
Constantly, she can feel your eyes on her and it makes her smile in your direction.
It is getting to the point where your camera roll is made up almost entirely of her. You’re simply unable to tear your eyes away from the phenomenon that is Feli Rauch.
******
It’s not just you that is keeping a watchful eye on Feli or just Felicitas that is keeping a watchful eye on you.
The rest of the team is too.
The older woman has picked up on this and she moves fast and quiet.
You won’t believe half of the things she sees inside her head, the things she’s hoping she’ll get to experience with you by her side.
She wants more than just stolen kisses, more than just your hands exploring her body in the dark. Felicitas desperately wants it all to be out in the light of day.
She wants to be able to kiss you whenever she can, just because she can. She wants to be able to do so in front of everyone, regardless of who they are.
The fullback simply wants to show the world how truly, madly and deeply her feelings run for you.
Felicitas hopes you stick around and wait to see these things happen.
She’s willing them to happen so badly.
There are a few things that she is wondering now though.
******
One, what would you do if she went to touch you now?
She is looking for a certain kind of physical touch now, not just the simple, casual touch of friends. Feli is searching for much more than that.
You’re not in her hotel room so she seeks you out. For this particular away game, the players are rooming on the floor above the staff.
When Feli makes it down to your floor and knocks on your door, she’s taken aback by how fast you open it.
‘Hey…’ You breathlessly greet her.
‘Hi. Are you going somewhere?’ Felicitas cautiously asks.
If you have plans, she doesn’t want to disrupt them despite the obvious disappointment that she is already beginning to feel at being unable to spend time with you.
It is a good thing then, that the only reason you were leaving your room was to find her.
You tell her that and the older woman can’t stop the big smile that is forming on her face.
That expression does not leave even as she rests her hands on your hips and pushes you lightly back into your room.
You offer no resistance and are in fact happily following her lead.
That’s question number one answered in the German woman’s mind.
******
Two, what would you do if they never found us out?
They in this case refer to her teammates and your boss.
While there aren’t any rules about players and staff fraternisation, you and Feli do not want to be the reason that there are.
Hence why the both of you are trying to keep your budding relationship on the down low.
It’s not really working, despite your’s and Felicitas’ best efforts because the two of you are far too smitten with each other.
The heart eyes, the lingering touches and most of all, the way you both just seem to gravitate towards each other.
So while no one explicitly says anything, the suggestive looks and teasing comments are all it takes to let you and Feli know that the two of you are not as subtle as you had both hoped to be.
The fullback watches you carefully for any sign that you mind when one of your teammates brings it up but she doesn’t find any.
This somewhat answers question number two for her because it wasn’t you who made the decision to draw the team’s attention to the both of you. It had simply happened, out of your control but nevertheless does not seem to be bothering you.
Felicitas can’t build up enough courage to ask you outright so this will have to be enough for now.
******
Three, what would you do if we never made a sound?
Felicitas’ grip on your hips is so tight that you’re sure she is going to leave bruises behind.
Not that you care because it is going to be a nice addition to the collection of marks she has already littered your body with.
You are trying your best to stay silent, knowing that the walls of this particular hotel are thin. There are players resting in the next room and you don’t want to disturb them but when Feli’s lips find a sensitive spot on your neck, you can’t help but cry out her name in pleasure.
The brunette pulls back immediately.
‘What happened to being quiet? You don’t want our friends to hear us do you?’
‘No…’ You shakily whisper.
‘Then try harder.’ Feli firmly instructs, although the teasing edge to her voice tells you that she isn’t angry at all.
It causes the tiny hope that you have been harbouring to blossom. Maybe Felicitas wouldn’t care if all this sneaking around comes to an end. Maybe she even wants the whole secret to unravel.
And when Feli is far too good at demonstrating precisely how well she has come to know your body…an impressive amount in the short time you have been playing this ‘What are we?’ game, the both of you are subjected to a relentless amount of good natured mocking at breakfast, the morning after.
In particular from Lynn and Sveindis who had been roomed next to you and Feli all night.
The Wolfsburg player knows the answer to question number three now because as the rest of the team pokes fun at the pair of you, you endure it all with a soft smile on your face.
Felicitas can’t help but slip her hand into yours under the table.
******
When Wolfburg qualifies for the Champions League final, you’re beyond ecstatic and so are the players.
You eagerly take photos of all their celebrations, till a certain brunette pulls you headfirst into them.
‘Feli! Feli I’m working!’ You protest but the older woman doesn’t listen.
She takes a moment to check that your camera is properly secured by its strap around your body before she easily picks you up and spins you around.
The small action makes your heart fill with even more emotion for her. You adore the fact that she cares enough about your love of photography to extend it to your equipment.
Your breathless laughter rings out across the field and your heart is light.
When Felicitas sets you down, her brown eyes are sparkling under the stadium lights and her hands are resting firmly on your waist.
You can see her in her bright green kit and messy bun, loose strands of hair falling into her face.
In that moment, you know that she couldn't care less about what anyone thinks. Not the club staff, her fellow players or even her fans.
She just wants to know what you think.
‘Are you happy?’ Feli whispers.
Her thumb strokes gently against your waist, over the material of your shirt as she speaks. She keeps her voice low, wanting you to know that her words meant just for you.
‘Incredibly so.’ You murmur, making sure that your voice is soft because you want her to know that your answer is meant only for her ears too.
‘Good.’ The fullback breathes and leans her forehead against yours lightly.
She inhales and exhales and you do the same, commiting the moment to memory.
You have your eyes closed so you depend on all your other senses. The cheers of the crowd, the warm feel of Feli’s hands, her steady breathing and how she smells.
Sweaty because she’s spent the last ninety minutes running around but also underneath all that, she smells like her lavender shampoo.
And you’re enamoured with it and her.
‘I know you’ve got to get back to work but will you wait for me after? Please?’
It’s a quiet, nearly timid request and one that you are more than happy to fulfill.
‘Of course.’ You nod your agreement and the German woman grins.
‘See you soon my shutterbug.’
She kisses your cheek quickly and then runs off towards the other Wolfsburg players before you have time to process the nickname or her public display of affection.
******
Your camera bag is slung around your shoulder and you anxiously fiddle with a crease in your shirt as you wait for Feli down the hall. It’s a familiar situation but you’re unusually nervous tonight.
In between a glance down at your shirt and and back at the locker room door, the brunette is right in front of you.
She doesn’t even bother saying hello, choosing to pin you up against the wall and kiss you senseless.
Her hands cradle your face and she pours all her emotion into her affectionate gestures.
Your legs give out and Felicitas presses your back harder into the solid surface behind you as she supports your weight.
‘Feli.’ You pant when she finally breaks the kiss to breathe.
‘Felicitas.’
It’s a single plaintive word that falls from your lips and the fullback tilts her head in a silent question.
‘We have an audience.’
Her mouth falls open in a ‘o’ shape and she turns around to see what is practically the entire team standing behind her with big cheesy grins.
‘Something you two want to share with the class?’ Svenja teases.
Feli simply rolls her eyes and despite the blush on her cheeks, kisses you soundly once more.
Lena’s and Sveindis’ cheers of, ‘Get your girl!’, fade into the background because all at once, Felicitas Rauch is not only at the forefront of your mind but is the only thing on your mind.
You won’t ever tell about how she kisses you because everyone can see the effect she has on you.
She’s your addiction.
******
The brunette fullback’s secret mission is not so secret.
Not to her family, her fellow players both club and national and her fans.
Especially when the first thing she does upon arriving back in Wolfsburg from national camp is to show up on your doorstep.
You end up going with Feli to pick up Cinny from her dogsitter and the older woman decides to be the photographer for a change.
The photo that she uploads onto her Instagram is one of you holding Cinnamon on your lap, in the passenger seat of her car.
It’s captioned, ‘My shutterbug and my poodle.’
Feli’s mission is to show you that you are seen and when the post blows up, it’s evident that you are
You are seen not only by Felicitas but by the world.
******
Leaning against the door frame of your apartment, you hear the tell tale sound of someone approaching.
You hope it’s who you have been waiting for and when a particular, one of a kind defender rounds the corner of the hallway, a smile lights up your face.
Feli’s heart just about bursts with all the affection she holds for you, when her eyes meet yours.
You’re wearing one of her sweatshirts that she must have left behind by accident.
On you, the article of clothing is too big and you have the sleeves bunched up to your elbows.
You self consciously pull at one side of it when Feli keeps staring at you, murmuring a soft, ‘What?’
‘You’re just so adorable.’ The brunette says, stepping into your space with a little smile.
Your cheeks turn pink and Felicitas gently places her hands on them.
‘I love it when you blush for me.’ She adds quietly, before she slants her lips down over yours.
Any embarrassment that you might be feeling about your reaction quickly vanishes.
Felicitas kissing you is all that matters and though she has been doing that a lot recently, you are never going to get tired of it. The butterflies that come alive in your stomach each and every time are never going to get tired of it.
As the brunette makes no effort to slow down, you correctly infer her intentions and pull her into your apartment.
Felicitas smirks when you lock the door, giving in to temptation and pushing you up against it.
‘This feels like a familiar situation.’ You breathlessly tease.
‘I don’t see you complaining.’ She cockily states.
You laugh, tugging on the collar of her jacket.
‘Off please.’
As hard as you try, your words betray just how desperate you are.
And Felicitas knows it.
That almost annoying smirk of hers is back on her face but the brunette obliges, throwing her jacket on the floor.
Your clothes and the rest of hers soon follow.
You didn’t even know it was possible but the way she is looking at you is making you want her even more.
******
Soft, feather-like kisses are what you are scattering all over Feli’s back.
You smile against her skin and now it’s the older woman’s turn to blush.
Idly, you move on to trace an aimless pattern onto her exposed shoulders.
Your fingers are gentle and everywhere your touch goes, Feli’s skin tingles.
‘Meine liebe.’ She breathes, completely and utterly taken by you.
‘What did you say?’ You ask, wondering if you had heard wrongly.
Your German isn’t all that good but there is no mistaking the tone of her confession.
With wide eyes, you keep looking at the woman who is lying with her head in your lap, your sheets pulled messily around her bare body.
Feli sits up, tenderly taking you into her arms.
‘Be mine.’
Her brown eyes are shining and her voice trembles slightly.
‘Felicitas, are you asking me to marry you?’
‘No! N-Not yet at least. Just be my girlfriend now and maybe in a few years I’ll be asking you to be my wife.’ She stammers.
Her hands reach out to cover yours and the reassuring weight of them, as well as the warmth they provide you are all the encouragement you need.
You lean in to kiss her ardently and Feli sighs, both in happiness and relief.
‘That’s a yes then? Please let that be a yes. I can see you. I promise I see all of you and I love each and every part.’ She asks, as soon as you two pull apart to catch your respective breaths.
The smile on your face is one you swear that only Feli can bring out in you.
‘Yes. It’s a yes because I love you too.’

Let the sun shine for a last time
a/n: hello...
Tumblr media
Pairing: Ewa Pajor x Léon!reader; VfL Wolfsburg x reader
Summary: Ewa last game for Wolfsburg [in the same universe as 'Ray of sunshine']
Type: Fluff
Warning; use of Google tranlsate for Polish and Spain like usual so let me know id there's mistakes
word count: 2332
-------
Things were strange. Well, not really. It was just the end of the season. This time of the year always seemed rushed. You usually didn't really feel that, but this time it was different.
All started nearly before the final of the cup. It was not a big deal, and you were confident in your victory, even if it was against Bayern. But this year it was different. It was not only for the club this time.
After nine years in the club, things were about to change, and you finally started to process it at the end of the away game against Werder when you saw Ewa crying against Alex.
Your teammates could see that something was bothering you at the end of the game but didn't say anything. It was not really a surprise that your wife would leave the club at the end of the season, but it seems to be only official after her announcement on social media.
Among all the fans thanking your wife for her service at the club and wishing her good luck for the next step, some were really asking themselves how you were doing knowing that you extended your contract with the German club last season.
And that was a great question. How were you doing? Well, it wasn't a surprise that you didn't seem the same.
You woke up before Ewa; it was a sunny day, and the temperature was also good, but you didn't feel right. You sat on the edge of your bed, scanning the room, trying to process how this would affect your life here, even if you knew that nothing would really change.
Lost in your thoughts, you were oblivious to your wife, who was searching you in her half-sleep state, wiping her arm everywhere on your side of bed before finally lifting her head when she didn't find you. "What are you doing?" she mumbled through tiredness. When you didn't reply, she finally decided to sit up, brush the remnants of sleep in her eyes, and wrap her arm around your chest before her head found a place on your shoulder. "Hi, are you okay?" she asked, finally catching your attention this time.
"Yeah, sorry, I just spaced out." You replied.
"I can see that." She waited a moment, comfortably pressing against you, to think about moving. "I love you, you know that?" She asked out of the blue, making you look at her.
"Yes, of course, and I love you too."
"I know, I just wanted to remind you of that. I don't know what's going on in your mind, but I can see that you're not yourself." She finished her sentence by leaving a soft kiss on your neck and gently locking her hands with yours.
"I think you're still tired, mi amor, you're talking nonsense." You tried to brush it off, even if you knew she could see through any of your masks.
The striker didn't talk further and just stayed like that for another fifteen minutes until you needed to use the restroom.
A few hours later, the brunette was almost dragging you into the changing room with all your teammates already there. Like expected, she was immediately circled by some teammates.
Even if you knew that nothing would change between you two, you couldn't help but notice the little change from the last few weeks. Like right now. Since the day before the final of the pokal, Ewa has become more 'intimate' with you around everyone.
Walking hands in hands, sitting on her laps, calling you sweet names, or even dropping some discreet kisses. Of course she already did things like that before, but it became more frequent, and she didn't even hide it from your teammate.
Don't get it wrong, you liked that more than anyone else, but it also felt like she was trying to make up for her choice.
After letting go of her hand, you found your place next to Lena. The midfielder greeted you with a tight hug, making you laugh. The German player only let you go before Do was the new one to catch you between her arms.
"Oh, come on, girls, you already want to make me cry?" You said earning some laughs from the two players.
"I'll miss you." The Dutch woman told you sincerely. After five years in the club, the two of you grew pretty close, almost like sisters.
"Don't miss me too much, because I don't think I'll be able to see you as much as I want."
"Will you come to see me?" The young player asked, making you roll your eyes.
"Come on, even if I don't, you'll be the one who comes back here. You can't live without me." You joked.
"Okay guys, don't bother my super defender, I need her total focus for the game." Merles said coming out of nowhere.
"Don't worry, I'm always focused." You reassured her.
After getting changed, it was time for the last warm-up for the last game of the season. Warming up with the defender and some midfielders, you were stuck with Do and Lena, who didn't stop to tease you about the heart eyes you gave to your own wife.
Back in the changing room, you changed for the green kit, and immediately after that, Ewa somehow just appeared next to your cubby and was determined to stay there even when the coach came for the last tactical talk.
For her last game, the Polish player was designed to be the captain today, which meant that she was leading the team out the tunnel, forcing you to stay behind. You seemed excited; at least that's what a lot of people would think if they saw you right now. Honestly, you were nervous, and Alex could see that, so she just kept her hands on your shoulder, trying to ease your mind, which was usually Ewa's special mission.
"Don't worry, it will be alright." That was the last thing the tall player told you before you came out of the tunnel.
AOK Stadion, May 20th. For maybe one last time, you were looking at the woman wearing the number '9' on her green and white shirt with her back facing you, waiting for the whistle. And when it comes to time, it seems to go so quick and so slow at the same time.
Slow because, after only a halftime, you were leading 4-0 with a hat trick from your wife. But quick, because after only a few minutes back for the second half, you understood that it was maybe the last minutes that you shared with her in front of this public, wearing this kit in the city that you called home.
When Ewa got subbed off, time seemed to finally go with you, and the end of the match was a big rush but allowed Wolfsburg to win 6-0.
The final whistle and the tension left your body. A pretty big victory for the last of the season. You were caught in your celebration with Nuria and Fena, so you were surprised when you were spinned around by a very happy brunette, and her lips crashed on yours immediately.
At first, you were shocked, but you quickly forgot that and reciprocated every feeling she put on that kiss. It was a special one. It was a mixture of the goodbye kisses she gave before leaving for international duty, with the make-up kisses you exchanged after any arguments, and with the celebration kisses that you used to exchange the night after you lifted a trophy. The sensation was exceptional, almost making you nostalgic for the first time you kissed her or when you did to officialize your marriage.
A lot of sheering could be heard around you. Well, it was very hard to tell where it was from because it seemed like the whole stadium was screaming for you.
"Wow." was the only thing you were able to say after you pulled apart. Ewa was blushing in front of you, even if for some people it just looked like she was just exhausted from the run she made to reach you.
She didn't wait until you said anything else before locking you in a tight hug. "Kocham Cię. Wiem, że już to wiesz, ale naprawdę chcę, żebyś wiedziała, że cokolwiek się stanie, nic. I mówię, że absolutnie nic nas nie rozdzieli. (I love you. I know that you already know that, but I really want you to know that whatever happens, nothing. And I say absolutely nothing would drift us apart.)" She rushed out of her mouth in her native language, making you furrow your eyebrows a little. But she couldn't have to say anything else before she was required to receive her top goalscorer trophy.
You followed her, letting her pose with the trophy, until she turned around and made her way back to you. "I love you," she repeated, "and thank you for all these years." You didn't reply 'I love you' back before the team almost crashed against you and your wife.
The rest of the celebration was very good, and back at your home around 11 p.m., you were both really exhausted. Your hands were full with all the presents from the club and the fan for departure when your phone rang in your pocket.
You groaned from exhaustion, of course, but also irritation. Thankfully, the striker carefully dropped everything and picked up your phone for you.
"Hola Mapi, ¿cómo estás?" You heard your wife ask while you were finally freeing your arms.
"Oh, muy bien, gracias. Veo que tus clases de español finalmente empiezan a dar sus frutos. (Oh, very good, thank you. I see that your Spanish lessons finally start to pay off.)" Your sister replied, making you a little proud.
"Y/n is a very good teacher when she wants to." You rolled your eyes at that but decided not to comment.
"Talking about her, where is she?"
"I'm here," you said, appearing just beside Ewa, not forgetting to give her a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Look at how cute you are. Look, Ingrid, aren't they cute?" The defender asked her girlfriend.
"Yeah, very, but you should check on Instagram." The Norwegian said making you a little confused.
"Yes, that's why I called you." Mapi seemed to miraculously remember something very important. "Check on what I sent you on Instagram." Unfortunately, you couldn't ask more questions before she hung up.
You were both perplexed about that but decided to check it out after a well-deserved shower. After that, you were on your bed while Ewa was drying your hair when you remembered what your sister said.
You picked up your phone and went on Instagram. You didn't bother to check the message you got, only Mapi's one, and let's just say that you were surprised. The other woman peeping at your phone from your back immediately stopped what she was doing after she saw what your sister sent you.
"What is that?" It was not a question, but more something she said at the moment because she didn't know what else to say. Because she already knew what that was, and she knew that she was responsible for it.
Here in front of you, a post that consisted of only one thing: the kiss that your (actually shocked) wife gave you on the heat of the moment after your game.
It was not a secret that you two were married, so it wasn't really surprising when people saw you kiss each other. But there you were both now, almost everywhere on the woso side of Instagram, kissing shamelessly your wife in front of everyone.
But the quality of the photo was actually not bad; even better, it was a very professional quality, which made you think about something.
"I want to frame it." You announced, making Ewa's jaw drop.
"What?" She asked even if she clearly understood.
"I want to frame it in the biggest format possible. I'll hang up the TV in the living room."
"No, moja kochana (my love), you can't."
"Why?"
"Because I don't want to have a huge picture of me, lips locked with yours, hanging up to my TV in my living room or anywhere in my house."
"But we have an exact picture of you, lips locked with mine next to our bed!"
"It was from our wedding, kochanie (honey)!"
"And?"
"What you mean, 'and?', I don't want to, end of the discussion." She finished her sentence by leaving the hair dryer next to the bed before she lay in it. "Turn off the light when you have finished."
You didn't say anything else. You liked the post. You got up to turn off the light, joining her on your bed.
"Know what? I'll miss this." You gently wrapped your hand around her.
"What?"
"Our arguments, our little debates, and everything else."
"You sound like I'll leave and never come back."
"Will you?"
"If you ask me, why not?"
"Because we both know that you have so much to accomplish somewhere else."
"But that doesn't mean that I'm happy to leave you." She finally turned to face you. "We can't stay away from each other too long. Sometimes I'll come to see you here, and sometimes you'll come to see me."
"And let's not forget the Champions League." You added.
"Yep, let's not forget that." For a moment, you just looked at each other before she broke the silence again. "You know, I said I didn't want it in a big format above the TV, but we can frame it and put it next to our wedding one." She suggested making you smile. "Or, we can frame it, and I'll keep it with me while you keep our wedding one carefully here."
"Whatever you decide, I'll go with it." You replied very enthusiastically. "Kocham cię (I love you)."
"I know, and Te quiero también (I love you too)"

It wasn’t until the Pokal Final that you actually got to see Lena again. It hadn’t really been a planned visit, but you had to get away. You had to see her, feel her again. You needed her to keep the darkness at bay. It was a random Monday morning when you received a phone call from your agent.
“Hey, pet, are you free to chat?” Paul said, his Geordie accent sounding slightly thicker than usual. “Yeh, yeh. I’ve just got home – what’s up?” You asked happily, not knowing the devastation that was about to come your way. “Um, look … there’s no easy way to say this, so I’m just gonna come right out and say it …” he paused, clearly psyching himself up for whatever he was about to say. You sat up from where you were slouched over the kitchen counter. This sounded important. Really important. And that scared you. “You know Barça have been having …” He searched for the right word. “Financial issues,” he settled on, hoping to give you an indication of where this conversation might be going. You did know the financial issues the club was having – it had been plastered all over various social media. You had tried not to let it worry you, but there had been a little niggle in the back of your head. “I’m so sorry, pet. They aren’t offering an extension. I’ve just received the information; they cannot afford to keep you on next season. You’re being let go. Your last match as a Barcelona Femeni player will be the 16th of June.”
Your world broke. What did they mean they could not afford to keep you? Were you not worth it to them? Of course, you weren’t worth the money. You were just a kid in their eyes. Why would they keep you instead of Alexia? A lifelong player that bled Barcelona and had multiple Ballon d'Ors to her name. Or Lucy? A multiple-time Champion League winner in her own right, with numerous individual accolades too. You were expendable. You were lucky they had even taken you on all those years ago. How naïve had you become to allow yourself to get comfortable? Was it because of the issues with the government last year? You knew you had seriously fucked up then, but everything seemed to be behind you. Nothing more had been said about the incident.
You cleared your throat, a futile attempt to dislodge the heavy lump that had formed. “Right … um …” You managed to croak out, your voice sounding foreign and weak to your own ears. “Pet, I know this is not what you wanted to hear. And I’m so, so sorry.” “It’s fine.” It was very much not fine. But you were too numb to do anything, really. The thoughts swirling dangerously across your mind were not something you wanted to process right now. “No, it’s not.” Paul's replied solemnly, his voice heavy. “I’ve tried to negotiate; I’ve just come back from a meeting with them, actually. I had hoped to have some kind of agreement made but they aren’t budging.” He paused, the silence echoing the futility of his efforts. “But you’ve got offers,” he reassured you, his words a feeble attempt to lighten the heavy disappointment. “Name the continent and you’ve got an offer. Portland, Houston, Gotham, Kansas, Tigres, Bayern, Wolfsburg, Lyon, PSG, Melbourne, Sydney, Chelsea, Man City,-”
It was too much. Information overload.
“C-can we not do this right now? I … I just need a minute.” Your voice was thick with suppressed tears. “Absolutely, of course. How about I get all the offers and whatnot up and into a document for you and I’ll email it over to you. You read over it, and I’ll schedule a meeting for, let’s say, next Monday? We can talk it all through then, yeah?” “Yeah,” you agreed absently. You didn’t want to look over offers. You wanted to stay in Barcelona. You were happy here; you had friends, and people you considered family were here. But they didn’t want you. They were more than happy to throw you to the wind without a second doubt. The phone call ended and that was that. Barça didn’t want you. You weren’t worth it.
Conflicting emotions raging a war in your mind; pain, hurt, anger, sadness, defeat, fear, anxiety, dread, disappointment, helplessness, embarrassment, shame. The first hour after the phone call you had stayed by the counter, watching each message from all of your teammates and Lena buzz. You prayed one of them would be Paul, telling you that Barça had reconsidered, that they had miraculously found the money and would offer you an extension. He never did. You knew the adult thing would be to let yourself feel … something … anything. But you didn’t want to be an adult right now. Adult, you would be sad; look over the document Paul sent over and view this as an opportunity. Adult you would phone up Ona and Alexia and ask them to come round and help you through this. Adult you would call Lena. But you weren’t an adult right now. Right now, you were scared and ashamed, and angry and in so much pain. You didn’t want to do what adults should do. You didn’t know what you wanted … but you knew being an adult was not one of them.
Eventually, you moved to the couch. The couch that you had forced Ona, Patri and Pina to help you pick out. The couch that had witnessed so many memories – you had cried on this couch, you had laughed on this couch, you had fucked on this couch, you had loved on this couch. And now you had to find a new couch. You had to leave this couch behind. Slowly, the darkness crept in. With every passing hour a new part of your house was in shadow, another memory gone. The suncatcher in the window, the candles on the coffee table, the pictures on the wall … all disappearing in the blackness and soon to be forgotten. That is what would happen to you; you were sure of it. Alexia would move on and find a new Pequeña. Ona would move in with Lucy. Patri and Pina would have dinner-and-movie dates together without you. Marta, Sandra and Irene would go back to their own lives and stop worrying about you.
What were you going to tell Lena? Sorry, Liebe, your girlfriend’s unemployed. Sorry, Liebe, your long-distance girlfriend is potentially moving further away, and you’ll never play against her again. Barcelona had witnessed so much of your first steps to a tentative relationship. Barcelona had seen your first meetings, your first date, your butterflies, your excitement when you returned home, your confusion as unknown feelings of love swirled around in your chest.
Your phone buzzed. Speak of the devil. You didn’t want to speak to her right now. You knew that talking to her would make you cry. And you were trying really hard not to cry. But all you wanted to hear was her voice, her laughter, her reassurances. Your body moved before you had even noticed. “Hey, Schatz.” “H-,” you cleared your throat. “Hey, Liebe.” “Was ist los mit dir?” You could hear the panic in her voice, the shuffling of fabric as she sat up, attentive to what was happening. Your phone beeped again.
L 💚 is requesting a switch to video call
You clicked yes without thinking about it. Her face filled your screen; even in pixels, she looked beautiful. You, on the other hand, looked like a mess. Had you been crying? You didn’t think so, but you must have been, as another tear rolled silently down your cheek. Your eyes were red, your skin splotchy, and your face swollen and puffy. “Oh, Schatz,” Lena cooed. “What’s wrong?” Her soft voice was filled with earnest. You could feel her willing you to speak to her. You shook your head as the lump grew in your throat. “Schatz … bitte.” You made eye contact through the phone. “Barça … Barça aren’t offering a new contract. I have to leave at the end of the season.” Silence. A heartbeat of pure torture. Lena didn’t know what to say. She was angry for you – how could they not want you? Talent aside, you were the most incredible human in the world. Why would they not want you? But one look at you told her you didn’t need her anger; you needed her comfort. “Oh, Schatz,” she cooed. You shook your head, trying to fight back the overwhelming force of tears. “It’s ok to cry,” she reminded you. Her permission was all you needed. Hot, wet tears streamed down your face; the sobs hurt your chest. How? How could they do this? It took a while, filled with Lena’s comforting words and gentle reassurance, for you to calm down. When you were coherent enough to see the screen properly, you could tell Lena had been crying, too. Great, now you had made your girlfriend cry. “Ha-have you spoken to your agent?” She asked quietly, humming when you nodded. There was another pause, this time not as painful but still hard to get through. “Schatz, I want to come see you. Or you to see me. Please…” she pleaded. “No, Liebe, you’re busy. You’ve,” you sniffed, wiping your nosy unattractively on your sleeve. God, you’d be lucky if she still wanted to be with you after this. “You’ve got the Pokal final in like 3 days.” You so desperately wanted to see her, though. “Then you come to me,” she implored. “I’ve got matches, too,” you whimpered. The last thing you wanted to do was play for a club that didn’t want you. “Schatz, I mean this in the nicest way possible, but fuck them.” That made you laugh … well, not laugh per se, more like a weird huff or snort. But Lena could tell it was a gesture of humour nonetheless, she couldn’t help but respond with a similar smile. “I’m being honest. You’ve basically won the league; you can skip one game. You need a break and time to get your head around everything. Tell them it’s for mental health or whatever. Just … please, Schatz. I need to see you. I need to know you’re ok,” she said more seriously. “If you don’t come to Germany, I’m coming to you.”
You mulled it over, and Lena could tell you were thinking properly. You stared off out of the camera, your teeth sinking into your lip. You had your thinking face on. You really didn’t want to see anyone at Barça for the next few days. You needed to step back and have time to process, but you couldn’t do that with training and having to face the girls again. And it was true that you had already won the league; you didn’t need to play this particular match. And a break might do you some good. With the Copa de la Reina and Champion’s League finals coming up, seeing Lena again was something that would definitely help you relax a little. But you had the Copa de la Reina and Champion’s League finals coming up. You couldn’t miss valuable days of training. Barça were on for the quadruple. Should you do it? “The matches …” you finally said. “Mean nothing if it’s at the expense of your mental well-being,” Lena said emphatically. That was true. Winning the Copa de la Reina and Champion’s League would mean the world to you, only … you wouldn’t, couldn’t, be able to truly enjoy the experience. Not with this sword dangling over your head.
Less than 6 hours later, you found yourself on a plane. You had booked the first available flight out of Barcelona, hastily stuffing random hoodies and comfy joggers into a bag and snatching your passport. A curt text to Jona was all it took. You had made your decision, and a sense of relief washed over you. Lena would help you make sense of everything. You would take some time, give yourself a few days away from it all and then return with a plan. At least, that's what you told yourself.
Y/F/N Y/S/N: Hi. Unfortunately, I won’t be at training this week due to personal reasons. I would also appreciate if my name taken off the match list this weekend. Thanks Y/N.
Jonatan Giráldez: Hola, Y/N. I’m so sorry to hear that. Of course, take as much time as you need and yes, your name is off the squad list. If there is anything the club can do to help, please let me know. I hope you feel better soon, J.
If there’s anything the club can do to help? After they threw you away like you were nothing? After they brought you here as a child and then washed their hands of you? Not even having the decency to tell you with more than a month until your contract expired. Why would you go to the club? And surely Jonatan would know about your agent's conversations with the club? The staff always had a say in who was staying and who wasn’t; he must have known that the meeting was happening. That you were being told that you were no longer considered a valuable squad member – or at least one that warranted the cost to keep on … right?
One thing you hadn’t really considered, or maybe you had subconsciously but didn’t care, was the rest of the team. In their eyes, you had finished the recovery session on the Sunday as happy as Larry, and then you had dropped off the face of the earth. No one had heard from you, and then suddenly, at training, Jona said that you were taking some time off due to personal reasons. And no, he genuinely didn’t know what the personal reasons were. He even went so far as to show the Captains your text message. Short and to the point, no elaboration. Patri could feel the iciness through the words. Something was wrong.
Alexia’s phone call went straight to voicemail, as did Patri’s … Sandra’s, Irene’s, and Marta’s. They had Ona try, Pina, Cata, and Lucy. Every member of the team tried phoning you, and they all received the same response: straight to voicemail. So, you had turned your phone off. “Is she at her house?” Keira asked, watching as Ona pulled up your location. Ingrid stood off to the side, watching with worry as the girls descended into chaos over your unknown whereabouts. “Ok, everyone, enough,” she shouted, drawing all attention to her. “Here’s what’s going to happen. Ona, Ale and I will go to Y/N’s and check if she’s there. If she is, we'll stay and help her out with whatever she needs. If she isn’t, we’ll come back to mine, and we think of what to do next, ok? Everyone else, you are more than welcome to come to go home with María and wait, or you can do whatever you want. I don’t really care. We’ll keep you all updated on what’s happening, yeh?”
The plan was simple, really. Everyone knew what they had to do. The anxiety in the car was high, but calm and sensible Ingrid helped break the tension. “Her cars here,” Ona pointed out, nodding her head towards your designated space. “That’s good,” Ale smiled, squeezing Ona’s shoulder, but shared a look with Ingrid. They knew that that meant little in the grand scheme of things, you often ordered an Uber to take you places instead of driving. The hallway was unusually dark as they approached your apartment door. It was shut and locked, ruling out a break-in at least. Letting themselves in, it was starkly evident that you had left in a hurry – wherever you had gone. A blanket was carelessly left on the couch, a half-drunk cold cup of tea on the counter, your wardrobe door open and hangers on the bed. You were conspicuously absent. Ona was deeply unsettled; this was not like you at all. You never left without a word. Even if you were just going to the shops, you always texted her or sent her a silly selfie – it was a habit she cherished about you. Something was seriously, truly amiss.
Seeing Lena, the stone pressing on your chest felt lifted slightly. You walked straight into her arms as you hurried through the exit. Her soft skin, cinnamon smell, warm arms, and strong heartbeat soothed the storm. “Schatz,” she cooed, not mentioning the tears she felt dropping onto her shoulder. Come on, we’ll get a taxi back to my hotel, ja?” She ushered you towards the taxi rank. It was a little awkward for you both as she kept her arm tightly around you, silently thanking the heavens that you had brought only a carry-on backpack and not an actual suitcase.
After speaking to Tommy and signing a totally unnecessary NDA, you were allowed to sit in on the Wolfsburg training. You were reluctant to leave Lena; she wanted you as close as possible. It was obvious to everyone that you were not ok as you kept your eyes trailing to the floor and a firm grip on Lena. You were always seen with your arm around her waist, her hand in yours or your head resting on her shoulder. To those who didn’t know you, it would just look like long-distance lovers finally reunited; to everyone else, though, you were clearly going through something. Jule hadn’t even said anything before pulling you into a hug, squeezing nice and tightly before passing you to Sveindís. She had just pressed a kiss to your forehead before continuing the conversation as if it was normal for you to be there. Alex and Svenja had pulled you aside as you walked into breakfast the first morning you were there. When they heard from Lena that you were watching the final, they thought it would be perfect timing for the talk. They prepared a speech and everything, promising painful retribution if you stepped a foot out of line. An hour watching you and Lena interact silently, automatically knowing what the other needed without ever speaking, made them throw their plan straight out the window.
“Hey, Y/N. Can we talk for a minute?” Alex asked, putting a gentle hand on your elbow. You looked up wildly at Lena, relaxing slightly as she smiled and kissed your cheek, moving away to give you privacy. “Whose behinds do we need to kick?” Svenja jumped straight to it. “Huh?” You furrowed your brows in confusion. “We’ve seen the way you interact on the pitch. We’ve been in the room when you call Lena. You clearly are not yourself, so I’ll ask again. Whose needs a good kick up the bum?” It was something about the pair of them. You knew they were the motherly figures of the team, especially for Lena. She always sang their praises whenever she had the chance. You took a deep breath. “The whole of Barça?” You don’t know why you said it as a question. “Barça as in the city of Barcelona? Or just the team?” Alex quizzed “Um … well, they aren’t renewing my contract in the summer. They said they can’t afford it. But the first time either me or my agent heard about it was when they formally told us. I guess it just … knocked me a little.” You confessed. It was the first time you had explained what had happened since you first told Lena. Your heart clenched as you said the words, every syllable making it more and more real. “Oh, mausi. It’s ok.” Alex pulled you into a hug, gently squeezing you. “Take as much time as you need, ja? And talk to Obi, lean on her, let her be there for you.” Svenja added, rubbing your back comfortingly. You nodded, smiling gratefully at the two women.
You tried to keep a low profile, you successfully stayed out of the camera as you sat in the stands during Wolfsburg’s practices. You had spent most of the training looking over the documents your manager had sent over. A lot of the offers seemed really good. A very nice salary from most of them, some offered flats and houses, others offered cars and expenses. But there was one that stood out for you. It was no different than any of the other offers. But it lingered in your mind; it danced across your thoughts as you tried to fall asleep in Lena’s arms; it flicked as you ate breakfast; it appeared randomly as you waited for Lena to return from the showers. Should you? Logically, you knew you had to go somewhere. And you would have to move out of Barcelona and probably out of Spain too. There was one thing that this offer had that the others didn’t. Well, not a thing, but a person.
Inevitably, for all your efforts to hide yourself away, you were caught at the match. You had a black hoodie of Lena’s on and sunglasses, hoping it was enough to keep you from being recognised, but the fans were too good. You were picked up by hundreds of phones, all snapping photos of you. You knew it was kind of stupid to go to Lena’s match after withdrawing from your own, but you wanted to watch a football that didn’t impact you in any way beyond that of a fan. You were desperate to watch the game you loved as a fan again, to rediscover your love for the sport you dedicated your whole life to.
Ona was absolutely beside herself with worry. She was convinced you were dead. Or seriously injured, at the very least. “Si us plau, si us plau, Lucia. Por favor. Please,” she begged Lucy. For what, Lucy was unsure. “I don’t know what to do.” “I know, my love. I know.” Lucy ran her hands through Ona’s loose hair, twisting the strands around her fingers in a way she knew should bring her comfort. “What if she’s dead? I can’t lose her, not like this. Not without saying goodbye,” Ona sobbed. “She’s not, I promise you. She isn’t dead.” Despite her attempts, she didn’t know that. Not definitely. You could be lying in a ditch somewhere or in a hospital bed, unable to wake up and tell someone your name. Of course, she was worried for you, but she was more concerned for Ona. She was inconsolable. You had disappeared from her life without a trace.
Next to Lucy, her phone buzzed. She was going to ignore it; her girlfriend needed her more than whoever was messaging her. But when Ona’s tinged and then both started to ring, she sat up slightly. “Sí?” “She’s alive.” Ingrid breathed, sighing out in relief. That made Lucy sit up. “Hold on, let me put you on speaker, I’m with Oni.” “She’s alive. She’s in Germany. It’s on Instagram and Twitter. She’s at the Pokal final.” Mapí said, her tone a mix of relief and anger. “Què?” Ona sniffled, sitting up and leaning into Lucy more. “Some accounts have photos of her, it's all over social media. Ingrid’s trying to reach anyone from Wolfsburg. So’s Frido.” Mapí explained. “Lena,” Ona said, realisation dawning on her. If you were at a game in Germany, you would be watching Lena play.
Rumour: Y/F/N Y/S/N to transfer to Wolfsburg or Bayern Munich.
After being spotted at the DFB-Pokal Frauen 2024 Final, F.C. Barcelona midfielder Y/F/N Y/S/N is rumoured to make the intercontinental move next season. To which club is yet to be confirmed, but all signs point to the young player leaving Barcelona in the summer. With her presence at the Pokal Final, can we assume that she will be going to either Wolfsburg or Bayern?
Keep reading to find out more …..
Ona stared at her phone in shock. There was no way, no way in hell you were leaving Barça, especially not without telling her. You were happy here; you loved it here. Why would you go? You had friends here; you had your best friend here; you had your family here. She couldn’t help the tears that welled in her eyes. You weren’t leaving her, were you? It would explain why you were MIA for the past three days. Whilst she was at home, worried sick that you were lying dead in a ditch or in some ICU in a coma, your name unknown, you were off in Germany, living life and meeting your new teammates. And you had abandoned training and asked to be taken off the match squad. This couldn’t be the personal reasons you had mentioned in your text. There had to be more to it. There had to be a simple explanation. And yet, none was forthcoming. You had hopped on a plane and flew to Germany. No message, no phone call, no email. Just upped and left the country. So you could meet with your new team.
How could you do this to Ona? After all that you two had been through, after all that you had shared with each other. You were the first person she told about Lucy. You were the first person outside the Spanish national players she confessed to about what truly happened behind closed doors. You were there for her in ways no one else was or could be. And yet, you were leaving her without saying goodbye.
Leaving Lena was hard; you didn't really want to go back to Barcelona and face what was awaiting you. When you finally switched your phone back on, you were met with thousands of messages and missed calls. They started off concerned, then really worried and then they turned angry. You couldn't fault them; your behaviour was shitty. You would be just as angry if one of them had done that to you. But you needed a few days without anyone related to Barcelona. You needed the distance to clear your head and gather a game plan to present to your agent when you next spoke. You didn't even know about the article that was making its way around the internet. You weren't too big on social media unless it was to make your monthly Instagram posts. You followed the necessary people and uploaded the right things, but you didn't scroll for hours. You had been there before, been down that path and knew that only badness lay ahead. You had read the comments, seen the nastiness, heard the bitterness. So, you stayed clear, away from the world of social media trolls and online negativity. You didn't know of the absolute hell that was awaiting you.
Maybe going straight from the airport to training was a bad idea. Perhaps you should have taken the time to phone someone and let them know you were returning. Possibly, you should have spoken to Alexia and Ona first so you could explain yourself properly. Potentially you should have checked social media. But you didn’t. You didn’t do any of that.
You arrived at the training ground with your headphones in and hood up. You hurried passed reception, ignoring the glares from the receptionist and physios. You had hoped to catch Ona or Alexia before training, to pull them aside and explain everything to them (hopefully without crying).
“So, you’re transferring then?” Lucy called, her face stern and eyes blazing in anger. You hummed, confused and slightly shocked at her tone, but opted to walk straight to your cubby. “Oh, no, you don’t. Turn around.” Your headphones were still blasting music, so you never heard her. Lucy grabbed your shoulder roughly, swinging you back around to face. “What the fuck,” you flinched, pulling your headphones out and taking a step back. “You don’t get to do this. Not after I watched Ona cry herself to sleep ‘cos you were missing.” You felt your heart sink. Had she really done that? “I-” You felt guilty. You really, really felt horrible about what you had done to your … friends … ex-friends … teammates … ex-teammates. Ona especially. She was your best friend, and to see her puffy eyes and solemn expression from across the room made you feel even worse. And it bubbled up into anger. Mainly at yourself, but you couldn’t help but explode when Lucy started shouting. “Got nothing to say, have you?” She took a step closer. “We’re not good enough for you, now? You’ve found yourself a little girlfriend, and suddenly, your friends aren’t enough.” You squared up to her. “Leave Lena out of this,” you said menacingly, matching her energy. If she wanted a fight, she'd get one. “Please, you’re a fucking joke. You don’t get to waltz back in here like nothing happened. You were missing for 4 days. Not a single text to us to tell us what was going on.” “I don’t have to tell you everything.” She was right, though, and you knew it. A simple message to someone, anyone, to let them know would have solved a lot of issues. “What about Ona? Is she no longer your best friend? Or Ale, the woman who took you in when you first arrived?” She pressed. You were basically nose-to-nose at this point. “Why did you even bother coming back?” You recoiled as if she had just slapped you. It stung like she had. Why had you bothered coming back? Barça didn’t want you. And now the team didn’t want you either. “Fuck you, Bronze.” Your voice cracked slightly, your jaw clenched, and your mouth set in a harsh line. You were trying really hard not to cry. “Are you trying to burn all your bridges before you abandon us? If you are, it’s working.” She looked you up and down, the disdain in her eyes obvious. “You don’t deserve to be here anymore, let alone have us as friends.” You knew Lucy got angry when she was hurt, but hearing those words confirmed everything you already thought about yourself and this situation. Lena had spent days trying to glue your fragile mind back together, and with a single sentence, you had shattered into a thousand pieces again.
You hadn’t noticed the crowd gathering around you, the semi-circle blocking your exit and forcing you to keep up your façade. To most of the others, Lucy just echoed their hurt feelings, saying precisely what they were thinking. But Alexia and Ona could see the pain swirling behind your eyes before Lucy started the argument. The pair of them could also see your heartbreak as the words echoed around the silent changing rooms despite the mask you had on. You took a moment to gather yourself. Taking a breath, you said lowly. “You know what? If this is how you treat everyone that’s leaving, I’m glad Barça aren’t renewing my contract. I don’t want to be on a pitch with someone that thinks so little of me.”
I hope you enjoyed <3<3<3<3<3

you’re ok, you’re enough

A/N: all feedback on my writing is appreciated, and hope you enjoy :) [even tho imo this is one of the worse fics i’ve written]
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I’m not a footballer by any means, but I do know the difference whether someone is just physically exhausted from training and games. And, when they’re also exhausted in other senses.
I can immediately feel the tension when Lena walks in, her muscles are tense and her lips are quipped tightly.
“Lena?” She stops her movements and looks at me inquisitively. “I’m ordering in, anything in mind?” She shrugs walking off, not saying a word. I need to get something out of her. Get her to talk to me. We can’t continue like this.
I end up ordering our shared favourite food and she comes back in from her shower. I look up and it looks like she’s been crying. I furrow my eyebrows in concern but she just shakes her head dismissing it.
The food arrives and I plate it before giving it to my girlfriend who’s sitting on the couch, lost in thought. She looks up and smiles slightly, taking the plate of food, starting to eat. That’s one good sign at least.
During the meal, I make sure to keep an eye on her. She can probably tell, I don’t care though. She needs to know she’s not alone. No matter how stubborn she can be.
Dinner is done, I put the plates in the dishwasher.
No matter what, I am going to make sure she tells me what’s going on. I can’t sit by and watch as she shuts down completely.
“Lena.” I say softly sitting next to her, placing my hand on her thigh. She stares at me with an unreadable expression.
“I’m not sure exactly what you’re going through right now, but please. Please tell me what’s going on. I can’t sit back and watch as you tear yourself up. I won’t do allow you to do this to yourself.” I see she has tears in her eyes. She bites her lip looking away shaking her head.
“Baby, you and I both know how this ends. I won’t watch you shut everyone out. I know you’re scared, I know you’re collapsing. But I will try my best ok?” I watch as her body starts to shake, a sign she’s going to breakdown. Immediately, I pull her into my chest and allow her to sob into my shirt. I whisper words of affirmation hoping that she believes me, or even hears me.
You’re enough.
You’re ok.
I’ve got you.
I love you.
I’m here for you.
You’ll be ok.
After around 15 minutes of her crying, while I try my best to comfort her in anyway I can, her breathing starts to even out as the crying slows down. Soon enough she pulls herself up and looks into my eyes. I wipe the remaining tears off of her face and wait for her to say something.
“I…” She starts to speak but stops. I don’t say anything, just waiting to see what will be said.
“The pressure.” She begins. “Usually, I’m ok with everything, I’m ok with different titles but recently things have gotten harder and harder and I just… I don’t know how long I can keep going. People keep saying I’m the next best but I don’t feel like it and I don’t want it. I just want to play football without all of this. It’s so tiring.” She says with a shaky breath as I give her a small smile.
“Lena, I can’t tell you I understand because I don’t. You have so many people here, so many friends. You may not feel like you’re one of the best and you don’t need to be. Just be you, forget about everyone else’s expectations. Ignore what they have to say as hard as it may seem. Talk to people who might understand, maybe they can help take the burden. Make it easier for you. I know everything is wearing you out. Take a break, no matter how small. Do something you love. Hang out with Jule, hang out with me I don’t mind. Just try, not to let yourself get this low again. Please.” I say tilting my head.
She nods, allowing the words to sink in fully.
“Now, how about we get you to bed? I can imagine you’re tired.” Lena nods and we walk into the bedroom, only heading for the bed.
Once we’re laid down and her head is on my chest I whisper.
“You know how much I love you, right?” I can feel her smile.
“Ich liebe dich auch.” Then we both succumb to the sleep that awaits us after such an exhausting day.

Could I make a request for Obi please?
They already have a established relationship.
With her recently getting injured, could it be something along the lines of Reader got injured a few months before the World Cup and had to miss it, but Obi mostly was there for Reader. Now with it being the other way around this time, Reader feels conflicted about going to the Olympics as see knows those first few weeks are the hard but she won’t be there to support Obi.
my home is with you
lena oberdorf x uswnt!reader (requested)
authors note: i'm sad about her injury :( I wanted to see her at the olympics and start with bayern soon.. I know she will come back stronger ❤️ here's your request! normally i wouldn’t decide to write about this because it’s so soon, but i do requests (unless it’s too dark & much) so i hope you like :)
warnings: many injury mentions, very long chapter.
being back in your hometown gave you a sense of peace and warmth.
you haven't stepped foot in washington dc since 2018. you left your childhood club to go play at gotham for a year-- before moving to lyon (2020-2022) and then bayern afterwards.
waking up in the morning, you wished obi the best of luck against her game against austria. yes, she will be your competitor in the group stages against germany, but she is still your girlfriend of 2 years.
afterwards, you put your phone on dnd and put it in your adidas bag that you will take to the audi stadium. on game days, the captain (lindsey) highly discourages the players being on social media before games.
as the second captain after her, you agreed to follow that rule. social media can be toxic.
if someone really wanted to reach out to you for an emergency, they can do it through lindsey, emma, or your sisters who came to the game to support your send off to paris.
that's exactly what happened. while you were getting ready in your hotel room-- lindsey got an emergency call from sara dabritz, her lyon teammate who played for the german national team.
sara isn't on the german roster for the olympics, but alex popp asked her to call lindsey-- since she needed you to know of the news as soon as possible.
"sara?" lindsey's eyebrows knitted together. sara calling her during international break and the off-season has never happened before.
"where's y/n?" sara asked, ignoring lindsey's confused tone.
"I haven't seen her since this morning, she might be getting ready now. what's going on?"
"the entire german team is trying to get ahold of y/n. lena went down pretty badly during todays game-- it was her knee." sara swallowed.
lindsey was sad to her about the news. nobody likes when another player goes down with a *possible* acl injury.
however, she was scared on how she was going to tell you the news.
hours later at audi stadium, you walked into the stadium alongside trinity and hal. both of them play on this field for washington spirit, and the three of you bonded over the last few days-- knowing washington dc so well.
trinity and hal stopped at a water fountain to fill up their empty stanley bottles with water. your owala bottle was filled with cold ice water already, so you continued on with walking into the dressing room.
as you turned the corner into the room, you hear your coach Emma, say something along the lines of "well we can't tell her until-" before lindsey stopped her with her finger pointing at your entrance.
you were the first to arrive before the rest of the team, surprising to the captain and coach talking in the room.
"hey!" you smiled, unaware of what they know.
"hey y/n, ready for the game!?" lindsey casually says with a smirk on her face.
the poker face of the lyon player is perfection. something could be wrong but as the main captain, she can't let her emotions take over her logic.
as the second captain of the team, you had every right to question what emma and lindsey were just talking about.
however, you didn't. you were too excited to play in your hometown again. many uswnt fans came just to see you play on your turf again.
"I'm so pumped! my family came just for the send off to paris. some of them talk about "oh we can't never see you play since you're in germany." but now they're here so-" you rambled as you giggled.
for a moment, emma frowned at your happy sight. lindsey turned around to look at the coach with a guilty look, hating that they both agreed to not tell you *that news* until the end of the send-off.
"that's exciting. I'm positive we have a great game ahead." emma says.
your happy mood became a miserable one at halftime. being nil-nil against costa rica was not motivating since you wanted to impress your hometown community.
in the 70th minute, you scored off of a set piece shot by mallory swanson. the crowd screamed as they've realized that it was you, their fellow dc native, that scored the goal.
the game ended with a 1-0. you knew that the team needed tons of things to work on if you wanted a chance at winning gold in the olympics, but that will come with time.
after the send off ceremony, lindsey asked if she could personally talk to you in one of the empty conference rooms.
you agreed. at first, you thought that she was going to discuss olympic matters and what will drive the team to win gold once you reach france. since she is the first captain and you're captain whenever she isn't-- along with alyssa naeher.
however, lindsey was very tense as you sat down beside her in one of the wheel chairs. she made sure to close and lock the door as well-- this is when your heart started racing.
she is your friend and hates to give you the bad news.
"I need to tell you this before you go on your phone and see it in the locker room in front of the other girls." lindsey speaks.
your eyes widened, confused.
"what's wrong?" you start to panic.
"alex-- alex popp-- said that lena went down during the game against austria. it's her knee, y/n."
your heart shattered into a million pieces. you looked away from lindsey as you took a few deep breaths.
the blonde understood why you couldn't say anything after that moment. you thought about lena having a possible acl injury.
you panicked knowing that you weren't there to help her.
"I need my phone!'" you jump up from the wheel chair.
"here." lindsey said, pulling your phone out of her jacket pocket. she made sure that she had your phone on hand-- in private-- so none of the other girls were alarmed about seeing you so upset.
after you switched your iphone off from dnd, you had nearly 200 notifications.
the first is lena's parents-- asking you to call them whenever you had time before or after your game.
others came from lea-- updating you on what's going on with obi. she understands you were playing a game and couldn't answer right away.
some messages were from other footballers in the community that you're friends with, asking you to send well wishes to lena on their behalf.
is this how lena felt back in 2023?
back in april 2023, you were a starter in the second game against Ireland.
you weren't feeling the greatest, your friend mallory suffered a bad injury in the first game and you knew she wouldn't see the pitch for a very long time.
in the second half as the ball was coming from the air, you jumped up to head the ball. at the same time, an Irish player's foot went up in the air to get the ball.
the sharp part of the boots kicked at your ribs extremely hard. your breath was caught in your throat and you landed on the ground-- injuring your ankle by landing awkwardly.
the irish player received a red card, but you were struggling to breath as you needed medic immediately. alex and kelley stayed with you as you couldn't even sit up without squealing in pain.
your ankle was on fire and your lung felt like it was beaten in. torture would've been an understatement.
lena finished playing the game against brazil when jule pulled her-- harshly-- to look at the tv in the dressing room.
the german girl watched in horror as she seen her lover on the grass, you were crying your eyes out as you balled yourself together.
she noticed your hands going back and forth between your torso by your right lung, and your left ankle, as the medics tried their best to figure out what's wrong.
"what the fuck happened?" lena said angrily, in english-- confused as she rushed to grab the remote and turn the tv up.
"this isn't good for the united states before the world cup-- mallory went down on the first game against ireland and now *reader's last name* can barely move without a reaction." a german commentator speaks.
the entire german dressing room looks in horror.
your bayern teammates looked horrified as jule tried her best to comfort a stressed lena.
a replay of the injury happened on the tv a second later. everyone could see quinn's cleat harshly kick your ribs-- the landing on your ankle afterwards made some of the dressing room cringe as if they could've felt it themselves.
"yeah, I don't think we will see her in the world cup after this one." the woman commentator on the tv speaks when a stretcher takes you off the pitch moments later.
lena was quick to immediately call your mom and sisters, since they were there and she wasn't.
she knew how excited you were to play in your second world cup after winning the first one at age 17.
when you got back home to germany, lena was there for you. you suffered with a broken rib and grade 2 ankle sprain.
obi helped you stand up most days and picked up heavy things, since you couldn't even breathe without feeling pain for the first three weeks. lena did your chores at home, helped you with showering (your ankle made that hard to do), she did your hair. she did everything to make sure that you were okay.
you couldn't go to the world cup and watch her play, but you were still so proud of her-- even if she got eliminated in the group stage.
the injury that happened to you made lena fully committed to wanting to marry you. even through your bad injury-- you were there to comfort her once she was back from australia after a failed world cup campaign.
back in the conference room in dc, you rushed to call lea.
she answered in a heartbeat, you were surprised since it had to have been 5:30am in germany while 11:30pm back in washington dc for you.
"lea?" your voice cracked. you hated this for lena, more than your own injury from a year prior.
"how was your game?" lea tried to calm you down.
"it was fine, now what happened?" you ask.
lea didn't take offense to you wanting to know what happened. this reminded her on how lena was with you.
being her closest friend at bayern, and the one that put lena onto you, she understands the bond you have with your girlfriend better than anyone else.
"lena tried to tackle and get the ball away from a player but her knee popped. I think you need to watch this for a better understanding." lea speaks.
on the FaceTime you can see lea typing on a few things on the phone.
you looked up at a confused, yet guilty lindsey. she felt bad for you since you were far from your home in germany.
the notification on your phone showed that lea sent a link to a twitter video. you clicked on it and watch the whole thing play out.
its hard to tell at first, but slowly you could see obi's knee pop out.
this made you sick to your stomach.
after talking to lea for a few more minutes, then waking up lena's parents to talk to them (they didn't mind, they really wanted to hear from you), then laura, then klara-- you were exhausted.
you were allowed to go on the bus early and choose if you wanted to sit alone on the way back to the hotel.
lindsey told all of the girls that something happened- she explained the situation which caused the girls to feel bad for lena and your situation.
you called lena, in private, once you were back in your hotel. she sounded so hurt which caused your eyes to let out tears (quietly) as she talked about her medical scanning tommorow.
many people would do anything to participate in the olympics. you were grateful to be a bronze-medal olympian already heading to seek gold-- but you wanted to go home to lena in munich.
the best player on the uswnt was you, no debate. after scoring in the 2019 world cup final at 17, winning two champions leagues with lyon, being the second best-player now in the bundesliga with bayern, and carrying the national team to bronze in the last olympics-- the team looked up to you.
the girls let you have your space for a while. even on the plane on the way to france.
tierna, your closest friend on the national team, sat beside you. she was quiet as she watched movies while you anxiously looked at your phone to receive some kind of news.
after the plane landed, the girls were quiet as they headed out. you realized that you couldn't sit in pain waiting for the day that you will get home to munich-- that will affect the team chemistry.
as you were in your hotel room, lena called you.
"hallo liebe." you spoke softly.
you heard lena cough before a few seconds of silence started.
the fact that lena called you instead of facetiming you, you knew it was bad. the three letter injury is something u feared for lena as your eyes widened.
"its both." lena mumbles.
"its both?" you question softly as you request to switch the call to FaceTime.
lena accepts and you see her in the hospital room, tears dried down her cheeks as her red face is covered by her hands.
"acl and mcl." she breathed out as she looked at you through the camera.
you frowned as reality hit.
lena couldn't start a bayern next month.
lena won't go to the olympics.
she will have to sit out for at least eight months.
you know she will be okay, since she has the team and medical doctors to help her heal.
however, you were sad that you couldn't drop everything to go back to munich.
"obi." is all you could say.
"I already know what you're thinking-- and don't." lena randomly says.
your eyebrows knit together in confusion as she looks at you with a unreadable look.
"don't leave your team just to come here. they need you-"
"but you need me a lot more." you cut lena off.
she knows you're right, but she can't be selfish-- even with her injury.
"you will be home soon liebe, I know you love me and will care for me as soon as you can." lena says.
"once I'm back in munich, I will be there for you. you aren't going through this alone-- we will fight through this together and you will be stronger." you gave a sad smile as lena smiles for the first time since she went down on that grass.
"Ich liebe dich" she whispers.
"Ich liebe dich auch" you say back.
"when is your surgery scheduled?" you ask.
"we don't have an exact date yet, but they said it might be the week of the 29th." lena says as she lays back in the hospital bed in her black shirt and black shorts.
you didn't respond as lena flipped the camera, showing you a closer look at her knee.
"I am so sorry." you say.
"its not your fault." lena says.
"I know- but again-- I just want to be there for you."
"and you will soon, don't abandon your team." lena made it clear.
"okay, I won't" you sigh.
of course you felt bad that you didn't want to be in france, but in germany instead helping lena. however, you were sad about the group stage match against germany.
lena and you talked about that match as being one of the last moments where you will be "rivals" before she joins you in the season for bayern. now, neither will happen.
days later, the united states plays germany in the group stage after beating zambia 3-2.
you were in the starting lineup. emma needed you for this match, making sure that you talked to a sports psychologist before this match-- just so you were mentally prepared.
you knew how the germans played, so you would be a key to winning the group stage match.
as the teams were going to take their starting eleven picture, you see the germans hold up a shirt in honor of sydney and lena-- who were injured and couldn't be in the olympics.
you sadly smiled at this, happy that they're remembering them.
however, you got your act together fast. lindsey wasn't in the lineup so you were the captain of the match.
at halftime, it was 1-1. trinity rodman scored a goal in the 10th minute but klara equalized in the 34th after an error from #3 on the USWNT.
in the second half, you scored a golazo in the 55th minute after dribbling around sara doorsoun and alex popp.
unfortunately, lea equalized in the 88th minute.
the game ended 2-2 and you weren't happy or sad about it.
all of the german girls greeted you immediately with hugs and kisses on the head. you accepted them. you missed them dearly and they were the closest thing you had to lena right now.
"lea love!" you sigh in relief when you hug her tightly for thirty seconds. the cameras capture the beautiful sight as most know the significance.
"I wish obi was here right now." you lean your head on lea's shoulder as she kissed the side of your head, above your left ear.
"I do too. I hate how fate works." lea speaks through her german accent.
"same." you roll your eyes. not in anger, but in disappointment for the situation and how things can play out for the worst.
"how are you?" lea asks.
"can I be honest?" you ask. lea nods her head.
"I want to be with her. I am so grateful to be here for a second time but I can't imagine her being alone without us." you whisper into her ear.
you didn't want any of your teammates to hear you. lea is your closest friend so you know she won't tell on you.
"she's not alone, she has her parents-- but I totally understand. she will be okay." lea smiles lightly as she pulls a piece of hair of yours behind your ear, a piece of hair that fell out of your ponytail during the match.
lea is right, lena's parents are staying with her at the new house you both own until you can go back to munich-- which could happen in a few days or weeks depending on the outcome of the olympics.
"I know. she's a fighter.' you smirk.
"and a lover." lea winked at you.
lea loves the way that you and lena respect and are in-love with each other. being the third wheel is annoying sometimes (when she has to hang out with y'all instead of her own girlfriend) but she is happy for the both of you.
after multiple matches of the olympics, the united states is awarded silver after losing against france 2-1 in the final.
you were the one that scored against france.
if you said that you weren't in a rush to get home to munich, you'd be lying.
lena's surgery was pushed back to this morning. so you took the uber straight to the hospital from the airport.
the taller german was asleep as you quietly walked into the hospital room. obi's parents hugged you and congratulated you on silver.
knowing that they've been with their daughter for many days, you offer them a break.
"you guys should go down to the cafe and grab lunch for yourselves, please don't take offense to this but ihr seht beide sehr müde aus." (you both look very tired) you whisper since you didn't want to wake lena.
they loved you like their own daughter, so it didn't take them much convincing for them to get a break-- knowing their daughter was in safe hands with you.
when they shut the hospital doors behind them, lena woke up from the noise.
you took out a blanket from your carry on luggage, your back faced towards lena so you didn't see or hear her wake up.
"liebe?" you turned around quickly when you saw lena awake.
she had the same tired look that you're used to seeing when you wake up beside her, but she was smiling at your sight.
you pout in happiness as you walked up to hug her upper body.
"my sunshine, I'm so happy to see you awake." you kissed the top of her forehead as her head pressed against your chest.
lena closed her eyes in comfort, she missed you the most.
"to see me awake? omg I didn't die." lena laughed.
"oh lena shut it, you know what I meant." you giggled back, happy to see lena cracking a joke through her pain.
you look down her body to see the scar on her knee peak out from her hospital gown.
on the inside, you felt terrible. you hated seeing lena in pain. you'd rather it be yourself than her.
on the outside, you looked at lena as she gave you a peak on the lips.
after that, you saw the ponytail of her hair tangled.
"hold on lena." you pull yourself away from her arms and reach into your tote bag.
"no don't leaveeee!" lena says
"I'm not I'm just going to help you with your hair-- it will help you relax."
you pulled out a soft brush from your bag, refusing to use a comb and risk pulling on her hair after she had surgery.
"you're so sweet" lena looks at the brush in your hand and turns her head to the side, so you have better access.
"anything for my baby." you tell her as you kiss the right side of her temple.
"i'm just glad to be back home." you mumble as you start brushing through obi's hair, getting the tangles out slowly and softly.
"isn't washington dc your home?" lena giggled, joking and teasing about the game you played in dc almost a month ago.
"nope, my home is with you."
I hope you're happy with what I wrote from this request! #comebackstrongerlenaoberdorf ❤️🙌
