Vico ortiz said in an interview it would be cool to have interactions between Jim and Izzy next series

And I was like okay yes I do want to see a transmasc who is into men threaten the character avatar for toxic masculinity

And suddenly I feel more positive about the sheer level of 'I can fix him' in the fandom, because attempting to wrestle something good out of masculinity is peak queer transmasc

Personally I relate to Ed, the Izzy narrative of the world being something separate / old / forced onto me.

But I think there's an age / transition aspect here. Younger, early transition me would've related to Izzy - putting in a huge amount of effort to being tough and being in the shadow of people who aren't as committed to the project of masculinity and yet are respected.

But now - I've been out a decade, I have confidence in my masculinity and animosity towards it. Being tough can be a bit of a grind.

I want the silk robes and the poetry and the kissing. I always did, but it took time to get to a point where I could comfortably access that. It took hormones before I could.

So yeah, I relate to Ed. But looking back at my feral, stealth, 19 year old, wanting conversion therapy, self? That guy would've related to Izzy.
