So, I'm trying to figure out what my first playthrough worldstate is going to be and I think I'll go with my "Sad Mages" worldstate except with a few tweaks here and there to make it as close to a (personally) perfect worldstate as I can.

But here's the thing. Violette doesn't have a canon LI. Now, I could import a worldstate with no romance (boring, I don't expect Bioware to take celibate inquisitors into consideration), or I could either:

go for tragic* and have her romance Blackwall.

or do something funny** and have her romance Solas.

* he's dead, and tbh if it's like Alistair who only ever gets one blink-and-you'll-miss-it line of dialogue acknowledging him in DAI if he made the ultimate sacrifice, it's really not worth it.

** not that there's anything funny about Solas' romance, just the idea of romancing him with that character is funny to me. They should not get along but "person I can barely stand" is kind of her type tbh.

The danger though is that I might get too into it and actually start shipping them for real 😅

at this point i can’t even remember when or why or how i started shipping violette & zevran with nate, but i regret absolutely nothing because i live for zev being loved and adored and aggressively sandwiched. it’s my favorite thing, hands down.

Hi! For your sad mage world state—What is their biggest regret?

Oooooh, that's such an interesting question! Let's see...

For Ana, I headcanon that she refused to do the dark ritual, so Morrigan went and asked Alistair directly. He accepted with a lot of reluctance, but didn't know how to tell Ana. So when she killed the Archdemon and didn't die, she was rather... upset with him. It drove a wedge between them that lasted long after she'd made peace with what had happened. She regrets the years they lost to it.

For Alwyn, it would be about his family. He probably doesn't realise it, but he regrets not being a better son/brother. It was his duty as the eldest to protect his mother and siblings, and he failed at every turn.

Similarly, for Violette, it's about her children. She lost three of them to the Chantry: one born in the Circle, one becoming a Templar, one taken to the Circle as a child. She regrets not fighting harder for them.

10. Are they good horse riders?

Out of all my OCs, I think Elle Cousland is the better rider, having learned as a child. Followed by Violette who's gotten some training as Inquisitor. The others are decent riders, except maybe Amell who was bitten as a child and is now afraid of horses. He can ride, but he'll only do it if there is no other choice.

18. Do they have any irrational fears?

Alwyn is afraid of the sea and storms after surviving one as a child. Let's just say that made the trip to Kirkwall especially difficult for him.

17. What were they like as a child?

Ooooh, good question! I'll answer for my main three:

Ana was a curious child, always asking questions and buried under piles of books. She realised early on that if she proved herself as a mage, she might be allowed to leave the Circle. So she worked hard to that effect and became a talented mage. But that talent made her cocky and proud, which landed her in trouble more than once.

Alwyn was a spirited child, always looking for adventure. And of course, he'd take his siblings with him. Back then, Carver would follow eagerly, though Bethany a little less so as she worried their antics might attract the wrong kind of attention (i.e. templars).

Violette was a quiet child - rather surprisingly when you consider she became extremely belligerent as an adult. But growing up as an elf under Meghren's rule, her family had to keep a low profile in order to survive. This, of course, changed when Violette started to display magic. In the Circle, she became bitter and prone to talking back to the templars.

Do you have your Rook(s) planned out to any degree? If so, would you share some details or ideas you have?

For my first playthrough, I plan to play as a Grey Warden (duh) mage, though I haven't really decided if they're going to be an elf or a qunari. It doesn't really matter tbh, my first characters almost never become OCs.

But I do have a few OCs that I think could fit the role:

My Surana's daughter, Neriah, is now in her early 20s, the right age to become a protagonist, and I could definitely see her as a Veil Jumper. She's human but she's always been curious about her elven heritage.

I might switch Violette from Inquisitor to Rook. She never really fit the role, she's too bitter and stubborn to play nice with Chantry people. But from what we've seen of DATV so far (particularly the dialogue system), she might work as a Rook. That said, she's pushing 70 by now so idk, maybe she deserves some peace and quiet lol. But If I use her, I think I could see her as part of the Mourn Watch.

My Adaar's little sister could also fit the role, I think, though I don't know which faction she would be joining. The Shadow Dragons or the Lords of Fortune, I think. She's paired with Varric so there could be some juicy angst if anything was to happen to him 😈

And I'm also tempted to use my Mahariel because I want to see them interact with Solas (for reasons that are not at all shippy). I think it might work, and they'd be a Grey Warden, of course.

And that's it for now though I might come up with more once I've played the game!

Planning to write Violette's DAI story and I'm really stretching the reveal that Ana is the Inquisition's Commander. So I have a line like "She's the Commander's mother." Which makes it sound like she's Cullen's mother. And I'm like, wouldn't that be funny if that were the case.

I think I might be feeling a little nostalgic right now because I keep imagining the kinds of dishes Violette would cook for her children (and the ones she wouldn't be able to cook for lack of specific ingredients).
