And Your Voice Top 8 Is...

Wow!  I am shocked, not really by who went home, but who was not in the bottom at all.  Adam Cunningham did the impossible.  After two weeks of being in the bottom two, Adam avoided a third trip to the Instant Save.  Instead, Ashland Craft, Shi’Ann Jones, and Davon Fleming found themselves in the bottom three.

Ashland sang first with “I Wanna Cry”:

She showcased a more emotional side with this one.  It was a little pitchy at parts, but she had a strong finish.

Shi’Ann went next singing “At Last”:

I really enjoyed the deep, rich sound she brought to this performance.  There’s no denying this girl is talented. but she may have overdone it with the runs and ad libs.

Davon chose “Ain’t No Way” for his Instant Save performance:

It was beautiful and sultry.  He changed the melody a bit with this one and may have lost some of the meaning of the song because of it.  However, I thought he sounded great.

The votes came in at a 48/35/17 split in Davon’s favor, thus sending Ashland and Shi’Ann home.

I will have a more thorough post on this tomorrow when I fully watch the finale results. I, like a dummy, did not make sure that what I was recording was in fact the results show and ended up with only highlights from the previous night.

And Here’s Your Voice Top 4...

Last night, the remaining artists went from eight to four.  As I had mentioned in my last post, I would have loved to have seen an all female final four with Chloe, Addison, Brooke, and Keisha.  However, I didn’t think that would be the case.  In my actual prediction, I thought Chloe, Addison, and Red would make it through.  I thought Brooke would have to sing her way into that final spot to join them.

Well, I guess I wasn’t too far off.  Chloe and Addison were both automatically safe.  Joining them in that third spot, thankfully, was Brooke.  None of that came as a surprise to me.  What surprised me the most was the fact that neither Davon nor Keisha had a shot at the Instant Save.  Both of them are incredible and I felt that at least one (if not both) of them deserved to be in that middle group vying for that final spot.  Instead, it was Red, Adam, and Noah.

Red sang “Dixieland Delight”:

This was a pretty mellow performance.  He did have a good vocal on this and got the crowd involved.

Adam sang “Here’s a Quarter, Call Someone Who Cares”:

This performance was about on par with Red’s except a little bit more pitchy.  He did bring that country soul though!

Noah chose “Sign of the Times”:

I was prepared to love this, but it just didn’t happen.  I don’t know if it was nerves or if he was just too emotional in the moment, but he was pitchy here.

Personally, even though Red gave the better performance in this moment, I felt that given Noah’s overall performance record, he should have moved on.  Plus, it would have been cool to see each coach represented in the finale.  The votes were very close with only 1% of them separating Noah and Red.  With a 38/36/27 split, Red got the final spot.

And Here’s Your Voice Top 10...

Last night’s elimination was a shocker!  Shi’ann Jones, who has failed to chart both weeks, was safe once again.  Instead, the bottom two included Team Miley’s Janice Freeman and Team Adam’s Adam Cunningham.

Adam was in the bottom two last week, so seeing him in this predicament again was not a shock.  However, I was definitely surprised to see Janice there alongside him.  Janice’s performance Monday night was not her best, but it definitely wasn’t the worst of the night either.

Adam sang first for the Instant Save with “Amazed”:

It was just an okay performance.  Vocally it was fine, but there wasn’t any real standout moment.

Janice sang “Chandelier”:

I admire her going after a challenging song instead of playing it safe.  Janice gave that performance everything she had.

I expected Janice to come out on top even if the votes were close, but Adam was instantly saved once again.  What’s even more surprising is that he won with about two-thirds of the vote.
