SAN LUCIO I, PAPA
San Lucio I, papa

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. XCVII
It was a love story from the very beginning.
The Great Pretender
(12x07/12x08)
Hi there!!! We' ll be talking about two episodes in this meta. I was thinking about the title here, I wanted to named it Glued, but then I realized there was more of AU! Michael possessing Dean foreshadows that actually Dean glued to his husband... So I decided to change the title.
Let's start!
The mind intruder and glued worried Dean
At the beginning of episode 13x07 we have flashbacks to the introduction of two narcissist characters: Asmodeus and AU!Michal, Asmodeus as a big pretender and AU!Michael the one that will use different faces.
The difference between them is Michael is a mind intruder, just like we saw in that doctor ghost in episode 13x05, and just like we will see the big manipulation of Dean's mind in episode 14x10.
MICHAEL: While I was in your head, I saw what you're afraid of– being locked up again, like you were in the Cage. So after I'm done, you'll be left here, alone, in agony, forever.
Michael manipulates Lucifer! With his own fears, just like he will do with Dean at first, knowing that it won't work, he will find another way to control him.
After this, we have a worried Dean scene, in which Castiel had pictures different possible and worsts scenarios for Jack. One of his theories is, the kid being dragged to Heaven.
DEAN: Yeah, but isn't he too fast and furious for angels?
CASTIEL: Maybe. Maybe not. That's what I'm gonna find out.
SAM: Find out from who? From – from the angels?
CASTIEL: Yes.
[Dean stands up]
DEAN: All right. Well, let's go.
Look at this boy in love who doesn't want to lost the love of his life again. So he will follow the angel to the end of the world and keep an eye on him. This time is an angel, but when CAS wants to go to Heaven, a place where Dean knows he can't follow him and it makes him always so nervous and anxious. As we will see in another episode from this season.
CASTIEL: Dean, you can't accompany me. My contact is already anxious about meeting and won't speak in the presence of a stranger.
DEAN: So introduce me. Then I'm not a stranger. I'll bring a six-pack.
Dean insists, he can't let go Cas that easy. Not after loosing him.
CASTIEL: Dean, I swore I would protect this boy. Let me do this.
The promise to Kelly means the first mission to Castiel.
DEAN: Don't do anything stupid.
This time this quote takes another color than on season 12, this times talks about fears. Dean is afraid of Cas dying again.
Coming back to the AU world, there's something that Lucifer said that caught my attention:
LUCIFER: (...) Where I come from, God is a paradox. He's everywhere, in your mind. In reality, he's nowhere.(...)
This is parallel to Jack's last words in episode 15x19, the real definition of the New God.
After this, we have another great pretender... Ketch, lying about his identity. A foreshadow of Asmodeus pretending being Castiel.
This time the one suspecting is Dean, and not Sam. But when Asmodeus will be one pretending being Castiel, the oblivious one will be Dean.
Focused Cowboy Angel
Castiel at the gates to Heaven facing Dinah is a very interesting exchange of words.
CASTIEL: So you're planning to enslave him for some kind of experiment?
DUMAH: Castiel, he's not your pet. He belongs to all of us.
As a premonition of Jack's finale mission as the New God.
But the focus change towards Castiel, Jack's first protector. They know Jack trusts him, so the one that can have Cas, will have Jack. The angel's saw this, and also Lucifer.
Castiel rejects Heaven's plans, as always, but this time is because he is focused on his mission: to protect Jack.
Luci comes to the rescue, and there's this funny way he calls Cas a "cowboy", funny because the previous episode Cas was playing cowboys with Dean.
And then, the another awkward Destiel phone chat for our collection...
DEAN (over the phone): Cas, any news on Jack? We need to find him fast.
CASTIEL: Nothing yet, but... interesting things are happening. We...
DEAN: What?
CASTIEL (noticing Lucifer is standing beside him): Yes, [cut to the bunker, as Dean makes a face of surprise and confusion as Cas suddenly changes subject] I would like to see you, too, the sooner the better.
That for sure something Cas is not used to say to Dean Because Dean got more confused. What kind of cheesy lovers end of a conversation is that? So Dean is nervous and anxious again...
DEAN: Yeah. How we looking? You still got a lock on Cas's signal?
SAM: Sure do. I nailed down his location. He's not much further, so... Don't worry. You did tell him not to do anything stupid.
DEAN: Right. When's the last time that's worked?
Worried husband is worried, hehehe.
More foreshadows and symbolisms in episode 13x08
Okay, all the things I found in this episode I wrote it enthusiastically in this meta here.
But, what I can add related to Ma'lak box is, Dean trying to get his hand inside a vault, as a reference to him being locked inside his own mind and trying to locked himself inside the Ma'lak box.
But we had a huge parallel here with Smash dressed with Destiel color and the demon dressed in black as the Empty. I will put here the things I wrote in the other meta...

All the characters in this episode were telling us one future story, talking about the end, talking about Destiel and how Cas will end too. I truly believed Dean would rescue CAS at the end of the show, but it didn't happen, even so, the evidences were there!
The title of the episode: "The Scorpion and the Frog" is a fable that talks about how the Scorpion can't go against his nature and ends up killing the frog that was helping him to cross the river, and both died.
This can be taken as a foreshadow to Billie asking for help and by nature ( she wanted just the equilibrium, at any cost) ends dying together with Castiel.
Also, it can be taken as the writers trying to tell us that, he will end up killing us all at the end, because that's their nature, even when Destiel shippers were helping the show to reach 15 seasons. Hahahaaha too romantic for this shitty ending they gave us, but well. Can't stop analyzing all the symbolism here...
To Conclude:
These two episode talked about impostors and mind introducers and gave us a lot of foreshadows about Dean being possesed, being locked inside his head and the end of season 15.
Also, it showed us a very worried Dean, and how we will see throughout the r st of the season how he lives struggling with his own fears of loosing Castiel again, and Because of it, he will remain almost glued to his angel.
Hope you liked this meta! See you in the next one!

MCU What if Ep 1-2-3: My two cents
So, I’ve been watching the What if” series. I won’t beat it around the bush, I’m enjoying it but at the same time I get the feeling this series is aimed at younger audience, younger audience which isn’t deeply familiar with the movies and needs to be feed a simpler storyline.
In fact from the way they present it in each episode 1 single change should be the one which gives life to a parallel universe in a sort of domino effect… only, from what I could see in those 3 episodes, there are actually multiple unconnected changes, 1 presented more markedly as if it were the one starting everything and the others… just there for unknown reasons but they aren’t remarked and might easily be missed by who doesn’t remember well the movies.
Characterizations are also simplified, with heroes more black and white than grey, and a general toning down of the drama. This isn’t necessarily tied to the short time, 30 minutes in the hand of a good storyteller are plenty of time to construct a complicate, adult, emotionally engaging story… but a complicate story requires an audience willing to put its mind to understand it, or capable to handle a more morally nuanced plot or that wouldn’t be too distressed by a more emotionally engaging one.
This kind of audience is clearly not what those stories are aiming at.
This isn’t meant to say they’re bad, they’re perfect for young audience, passing on a good message, being overall funny and giving them the chance to enjoy the heroes they love in a different setting.
Dialogues are nice, their voice actors so far delivered good performance, the art isn’t bad and the stories can feel still intriguing enough.
However, if you think too hard at them, especially in comparison to the original movie, the story tends to crumble or feel morally poor or mess up the characterization or some other thing.
Overall I think the “What if” so far are more enjoyable if you don’t really remember well the movies and, anyway, judge them as stand-alone more than “What if” based on how a single divergence from the plot could create a new timeline.
Some examples?
Pick “What If... Captain Carter Were the First Avenger?”
The divergence supposedly happens when Peggy decides to stay in the room.
Erskine: Agent Carter, wouldn't you be more comfortable in the booth? Peggy: No, I'd prefer to stay. Watcher: There. That's the moment that created a new universe. When asked to leave the room, Margaret "Peggy" Carter chose to stay. But soon it would be her venturing into the unknown and creating a new world.
Only, in truth, it’s not just Peggy who was meant to go to the booth and didn’t.
EVERYONE was meant to go to the booth… only they all stay and Kruger, the spy from Hydra, who was seated in the booth BEHIND Peggy in “Captain America”, in the “What if” episode attacks the lab during Erskine’s explanation and not, as he did in “Captain America”, after the experiment took place, using as a distraction a bomb he left in the booth, and not on the floor of near to where the experiment was taking place so that it can kill Erskine.
And, to be really accurate, Erskine, in “Captain America”, asked Peggy to move to the booth when Steve was already lying down for the experiment, while here we see him asking her so while the two are standing next to each other and he hadn’t started undressing yet.
And there’s a reason why in the movie things were done like that.
Of course in the movie everyone was in the booth, it was safer should something go wrong with the experiment.
Of course Kruger waited for the experiment to be carried on, if it didn’t work there was no point in stealing a vial of a serum that didn’t work.
Of course Kruger left the bomb in the booth and made it explode when he was outside of it, so that he was sure it would create distraction but not harm him.
Overall, it’s not just Peggy that acts differently, it’s Erskine, who asked her to move in advance, it’s all the people there, who didn’t move to the booth, it’s ESPECIALLY, Kruger, who originally aimed to see if the serum worked and, in this case, steal it and kill Erskine so he couldn’t produce more and instead he now doesn’t check if the serum works and kills, for unknown reasons Chester Phillips, who didn’t even have a weapon in his hand and so didn’t pose a threat.
Even the placing of the bomb is poor because, since there was plenty of mechanisms in the lab, it could have triggered a series of explosions that were to destroy the whole place, himself and all the serum included.
But how many young viewers noticed all this or worry for the risk of everything exploding or realize that causing an explosion outside of the room in which the serum was worked as a diversion so as to take people away from that place, while if the bomb were to explode there, everyone would converge in that place, with hydrants possibly as no one worries about fire spreading but they should… even if there’s magically not as much as there should be.
And tragic scenes get tamed down, we don’t see Erskine die, we might not even realize he died in the explosion, young viewers might not remember or not like Chester Phillips so when he’s shoot he doesn’t leave an impression and Kruger’s shape gets shoot down by Peggy so we don’t have him committing suicide.
It’s not a complain, it’s a logic choice to make the series more palatable to a younger target by toning down the violence and the drama in it.
And so we reach the big event of the episode.
John Flynn would want Stark to get the serum injected in himself (forgetting there were men of the MP around him who shouldn’t be all dead) but starts to complain when Peggy volunteers to take the serum herself. Peggy does anyway and again things are tamed down, as Steve ended up screaming so loud in “Captain America” Peggy feared they were killing him and they considered stopping the experiment but Peggy doesn’t scream at all.
Sure, in had been scientifically proved women are built to handle pain better, but very likely Peggy’s lack of scream isn’t because she’s tougher, it’s again to not upset young audience.
So, while Steve lies on the ground and no one comes to help him, Peggy comes out of the experiment enhanced. But here we’ve the real core of the episode, John Flynn decides the experiment is an absolute failure. Why?
Flynn: Sixty million dollars and all the hope in the world down the drain. I was promised an army. I was promised peace and salvation. Instead, I get a girl.
Basically the real core of the episode, the real theme is that Captain Carter will have to fight discrimination based on sexism.
Peggy: You have a Super Soldier. Flynn: Women aren't soldiers, and they sure as hell don't fight on the front lines. They might break a nail.
Undoubtedly this is an important matter, it’s a good topic to make an episode about, to give young girls an heroine, to show to them and to the boys what an absolute moron Flynn was in discriminating Peggy, also presenting boys being supportive of Peggy and trusting her. Howard Stark, Steve Rogers, and then Bucky and everyone else, all the men who see Peggy fighting are ultimately supportive and admiring of her. This is important. But Flynn’s sexism is better remarked if we don’t remember what happened in “Captain America”.
Steve Rogers: Sir, if you’re going after Schmidt, I want in. Col. Chester Phillips: You’re an experiment. You’re going to Alamogordo. Steve Rogers: The serum worked. Col. Chester Phillips: I asked for an army and all I got was you. You are not enough. Senator Brandt: [to Steve] With all due respect to the Colonel, I think we may be missing the point. I’ve seen you in action, Steve. More importantly, the country’s seen it. [to his aide] Paper.[the aide shows them the news paper (‘The New York Examiner’ Vol. XCVII No. 33.634, Wednesday, June 23, 1943), headlines: "Nazis in New York - mystery man saves child"] The enlistment lines have been around the block since your picture hit the newsstands. You don’t take a soldier, a symbol like that, and hide him in a lab. Son, do you want to serve your country on the most important battlefield of the war? Steve Rogers: Sir, that’s all I want. Senator Brandt: Then, congratulations. You just got promoted.
I mean, Rogers was a male and he too was judged ‘not enough’. Brandt has him tour the nation in a colorful costume as “Captain America” to promote war bonds, while scientists study him and attempt to reverse-engineer the formula.
Chester Phillips was likely killed because otherwise they would have no reason to deal with Peggy the same way he dealt with Steve ‘one is not enough’, only it wouldn’t have been a sexist problem, just math (though it could be argued Phillips never trusted Steve to begin with). This causes the message ‘sexism is dumb’ ends up feeling forced because it’s basically pasted over a previous narrative of ‘not being enough’. If you want, you can read it as always discrimination and discrimination it’s always bad, but it still cheapens the message.
All this not to say that the episode isn’t awesome if seen as a stand-alone… it’s just that when you compare it with “Captain America” it feels weaker.
And then there are the other discrepancies, like the Hydra bringing the Tesseract to Berlin and not to Azzano (a sign somehow Schmidt and Hitler didn’t have a fall out) with Stark using it to power up an “Hydra Stomper” suit that proves if he had had the right power sources and technologies he could have built “Iron Man” too.
They’re not bad points (actually I loved the “Hydra Stomper” suit and how Peggy rode it the way Tekkaman from “Uchu no Kishi Tekkaman” used to ride Pegas in my childhood memories) but again they’re divergences without a clear reason. Schmidt and Hitler shouldn’t get along better solely because Peggy got the serum.
And that’s the first episode.
“What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?” is also clearly aimed to a younger audience but with a goal different from “What If... Captain Carter Were the First Avenger?”
Watcher: What you call destiny is just an equation, a product of variables. Right place, right time, or in some instances, the wrong place at the wrong time. As fate would have it, at that very moment, a Ravager spacecraft was arriving on Earth to abduct the spawn of the Celestial, Ego. But in this universe, Yondu outsourced the assignment to his subordinates. Yondu: You morons grabbed the wrong kid!
For start this episode doesn’t try to rewrite a single movie, but by taking pieces of assorted movies “Thor: The Dark World” (for Tivan) “Guardians of the Galaxy” (for the idea of the setting), “Black Panther” (for T’Challa), “Avengers: Infinity War” (for the Black Order), “Captain America” (Tivan has his shielf), “Thor: Ragnarok” (TIvan has and uses Hela’s headpiece, talking of her as if he knew her and we can see he also has Thor’s hammer), “Thor: The Dark World” (Tivan has Malekith’s dagger) creates a completely different timeline by changing something that happened in 1988 and then jumping straight in… 2014, I presume, where a lot is different but we aren’t meant to see the process due to which things were changed, just to accept how T’Challa, kidnapped as a kid by the Ravagers, managed to make the difference.
In fact the whole theme of this episode is that T’Challa is a hero and a role model that gets success and admiration by TALKING TO PEOPLE AND PERSUADING THEM TO DO THE RIGHT THING. He’s meant not to have a character arc but to create a world that’s the best possible for people.
In fact we’re told just by talking with Thanos he persuaded him to stop his whole plan without using violence.
Korath: How exactly did you stop Thanos, the Mad Titan, from decimating half of the universe? Oh, no. Thanos: I'm a big enough man to admit when I'm wrong. T'Challa here showed me there was more than one way to reallocate the universe's resources. T’Challa: Sometimes the best weapon in your arsenal is just a good argument.
I mean, he doesn’t just turn the Ravagers into Robin Hood’s “merry men”, he talks with Thanos and Thanos decides to change his ways.
This is great, a wonderful message, a message against violence, a message about the power of the words and it makes T’Challa a real hero who, just by talking, saves the universe from Thanos but… but T’Challa from the movies was maybe not so good at persuading people from not doing wrong but he still had something amazing that made him very human and, at the same time a role model.
T’Challa wasn’t perfect, he made mistakes… but then he would admit them and correct them.
In “Captain America: Civil War” he wants to kill Bucky in retaliation for what happened to his father…
Natasha Romanoff: T'Challa. Task force will decide who brings in Barnes. T'Challa: [He clenches his fist.] Don't bother, Miss Romanoff. I'll kill him myself.
…but then he understands killing his father’s murder would be wrong and even stops Zemo from committing suicide.
T'Challa: Vengeance has consumed you. It's consuming them. [He blinks ruefully and retracts the claws in his gloves.] I am done letting it consume me. Justice will come soon enough. Helmut Zemo: [Holding a gun Zemo smiles thinly.] Tell that to the dead. [He tries to shoot himself but T'Challa grabs him just as he fires.] T'Challa: The living are not done with you yet.
And the same goes in “Black Panther”. At first he doesn’t want to ask Killmonger his name because he knows he is his uncle’s son and this would give him the right to compete for the throne as well as expose what his father did…
Killmonger: Oh, I ain't requesting nothing! Ask who I am? Shuri: You are Eric Steves. An American black operative. A mercenary nicknamed Killmonger. That's who you are. Killmonger: (LAUGHING) That's not my name, Princess. Ask me, King? T'Challa: No. Killmonger: Ask me. T'Challa: Take him away.
…but then he’ll acknowledges they had wronged him, will show him Wakanda’s beauty and will change things in Wakanda. T’Challa in the movies isn’t as perfect as T’Challa in the “What if” episode. He can’t solve everything and make the world perfect. He isn’t always right. He gets angry, vengeful, afraid of the truth. But then he rises above this and does the right thing.
“What if” T’Challa is a model of perfection that’s admirable… but that sits simply too high above the original T’Challa who also had to deal with Thanos but didn’t even think he could change his mind just by giving him a talk… and with good reason.
Younger kids might not realize because they might have not fully grasped how Thanos was a genocidal maniac, who massacred millions even prior to the snap, tortured his daughters and even removed body parts from Nebula. They might swallow it was just that easy to talk him into not doing the snap, and Thanos only needed someone to tell him it was wrong… and that in truth he loved Nebula… but for older viewers while beautiful, this is simply unbelievable.
And what about Yondu and the Ravagers? Just because they had T’Challa they became good and righteous. This is how Peter Quill described Yondu in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” which still gives a sympathetic portrayal of Yondu:
Quill: He wasn't my father. Yondu was the guy who abducted me. He'd beat the crap out of me so I'd learn how to fight and he kept me in terror threatening to eat me.
But T’Challa doesn’t seem to have such complains against Yondu.
Now… In Quill’s case Yondu kept Quill so as to protect him from Ego…
Yondu: Once I figured out what happened to the other kids, I wasn't gonna just hand you over.
…yet he kidnap him and tells him his home was destroyed so as to manipulate him into staying… but this is so easily forgotten by T’Challa to the point children might not even realize it was there. Yondu was a good dad for him, he kidnapped him because T’Challa was basically wasted at home.
Yondu: Sometimes you need to hear a lie to see the truth. You're just like me, T'Challa. T’Challa: I am nothing like you. Yondu: You're an explorer, Star-Lord. And for people like you, like us, the past ain't nothing but a prison. You don't belong down there with them. You belong up here with us, with your family.
Although T’Challa doesn’t seem to agree at first… in the end all is forgotten.
Yondu: Look, T'Challa, I just wanted to say... T’Challa: There's no need. I was the one who told you I wanted to see the world. All you did was show me the universe.
and
T’Chaka: (Voice shaking) My son, my son. I knew you would find your way home to us. T’Challa: I'm sorry it took me so long. Let me introduce you to the family I made along the way.
All this is to basically excuse the premise, something horrible like kidnapping a child is passed as not really something terrible so that kids wouldn’t deal with its emotional implications and can even think that it was a pity that, in the normal universe, it was Peter Quill that was kidnapped… without realizing that kidnapping is bad and that in T’Challa’s case Yondu wasn’t even doing it because he wanted to protect him. Actually it’s unexplained why, all of sudden, Yondu felt the need to keep T’Challa and completely forgot about Quill, didn’t even care about making sure Ego wouldn’t find Quill despite, thanks to T’Challa, becoming a better person. It’s another change, one that people knowing the movies is bound to notice but not kids.
So again, for who knows the movie well, the story ends up being weak and this is also because, while T’Challa could persuade Thanos off screen not to commit genocide… all of sudden his persuasive power isn’t even really tested out with Tivan. Tivan is the big evil… yet he’s somehow less fearsome than Thanos because we clearly don’t want to scare the kids.
So again, wonderful for young audience who doesn’t remember well the movies… not so solid for who’s older.
And so we move to “What If... the World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?” which is absolutely my favourite so far. This one at a first glance seems to be a “What if” of a comic named “The Avengers Prelude: Fury's Big Week”.
The awesome thing of this story is we don’t know what changed the universe, we only discover that someone is killing off the Avengers before they could become the Avengers, starting with Tony Stark.
The mystery is, at a first glance, cool, the idea original, Natasha gets a big role as she investigates and even fights things along with Fury and, again, children will likely not really realize how the “What if” is actually changing the settings even when they’re supposedly not related to the change that caused this parallel reality, the death of Hope van Dyne. I mean, we can start our list of changes with the random funny things that has no reason to happen because Hope’s death shouldn’t have made Coulson and Barton to be so appreciative of Thor’s hair, something they never bring up in the movie…
Coulson: Whoa. I got visual on the intruder. He's a Caucasian male, mid-twenties with... really great hair. Fury: Excuse me? Coulson: It's an accurate description. Sir, he's gorgeous. Fury: I need eyes in the sky. Barton. Barton: Already on it. He's making a move on the hammer. One shot, one kill, sir. Just say the word. Fury: Hold your fire. I wanna see this. Barton: Whoa. Coulson wasn't lying about the hair. That's nice.
…to continue with more plot related matters like how Betty should have known Banner had intruded in her lab dressed up as a delivery boy and was now hiding in a wardrobe… but if we want we can forgive them. Maybe Hope’s death really changed some things in weird ways we couldn’t predict… but the place with the biggest revolution seems to be Asgard… which actually shouldn’t have been affected by by Hope’s death AT ALL and instead the situation is completely different from how it were in “Thor” to the point I could write a 20 pages meta on the changes. But, if we assume this episode is aimed at children, it works because the “Thor” situation was complicate and here instead they show solely some random and confuse elements that children might have picked up from talks about the movies… but that weren’t like that in “Thor”.
And again we have messages that can be good for children, how a father will love his little girl, how Nick Fury will save the day even without the Avengers, how:
Fury: S.H.I.E.L.D. is people, people willing to give their lives for something greater than themselves to save the world from men like you.
…and how in the darkest time new heroes will always come to save Earth as when Loki take over because it seems there are no more Avengers, Fury can still count on Carol Danvers and Steve Rogers.
Coulson: The Avengers fell before they had a chance to rise. May they rest in peace. Fury: They can, but we won't. The Avengers were always meant to be more than a team. They were an idea, the affirmation of humanity's need to believe that in our darkest hour, we will find our heroes. Watcher: I believe that in this universe, as in every other, hope never dies. As long as someone keeps their good eye on the bigger picture.
It’s a good message about hope… but again, it’s something for children. We’re meant to believe Earth could be conquered in one day time without struggle whatsoever… and that only the heroes could save it. Children might not remember it but in “The Avengers” humans tried to nuke New York to stop Loki… the idea they would just sit and say ‘whatever’ to Loki’s domination makes it look as if they actually agree with him to an adult… but, of course, the battle of New York is something we might not want to show to a little child.
And now… something else that’s relevant.
I said the “What ifs” are good stories for children… but we’re talking of young children here because if the child is a little older they can end up passing a completely wrong message.
Remember "What If... Captain Carter Were the First Avenger?" and how it tackled sexism as an absurd behavior to keep? How Captain Carter overcomes it? By using her supersoldier powers to beat the Nazi. She shows as a supersoldier she works.
Does she turns over the concept that ‘Women aren't soldiers, and they sure as hell don't fight on the front lines. They might break a nail’?
At most she proves she can be a soldier. She doesn’t fight using the fact she’s a woman as her strongest point, she fights using her super strength as her strongest point… where Steve Roger’s strongest point wasn’t his enhanced strength but his moral values. Peggy proves as a super soldier she’s equal to Steve… but Steve as a super soldier proved he was better than Red Skull. Peggy’s actions in the story doesn’t cause people to revalue women in general, just her. People either aren’t sexist and accept her regardless of her genre (Howard, Steve) or they’re sexist but accept her because she is strong.
It’s meaningful that when she thinks Steve is dead Flynn goes back to his old mindset…
Flynn: She should never have been in the field in the first place.
… because the truth is he never changed it. Peggy had only yelled at them to stop calling Steve “Hydra Stomper” as his name was “Steve Roger” and Flynn decides she, not Steve who actually died, should have never been in the field.
They don’t show how Peggy got information from Zola, which seems to imply all she did to get them was to beat him up. Chester Phillips in “Captain America” manipulated him into talking with his intelligence only.
Do you know which were Peggy’s abilities in the universe in which she isn’t a super soldier? She’s a Master Martial Artist, an Expert Marksman, a Master Spy, an Expert Tactician, a Thief and can speak and read English, Russian and German fluently as well as use a convincing American accent.
This is hardly noticeable though in her own story.
Howard: Should we not have a plan? Peggy: Who needs a plan? I have a shield. Howard: A shield is not a plan. Oh, Carter...
She was a tactician!
Now… she has a shield. But whatever girl wants to be like her won’t have a shield, nor a super serum. To be a real role model for girls who aren’t anymore children Peggy needed to have qualities they too could have that would empower her. The only good moment is when she understands what Howard plans to do:
Howard: If I can get to the controls, I can transpose the ingress and do science stuff. Peggy: You mean transpose the polarity and reverse the suction? Howard: Being the genius is my thing.
But again, the irony here is that this is no genius plan, middle school students had probably seen him being done in movies and cartoons already. It might seem genius idea to kids, but when you’re older it hardly sounds like one… and when Howard complains all in the machine is written in German they don’t have Peggy show her knowledge of it, and translate the words as she fight, she just fight and he’s supposed to figure things out.
“Captain America” is a role model for what he has inside. I’m sure Peggy Carter has plenty of things inside her as well… but “What if” makes it more about the super strength she has gained.
Where Steve gains Phillips’ respect, Flynn’s respect is more a façade due to her successes thanks to her super strength, and that respect gets pulled back as soon as she gets upset by his behavior. Sure, Flynn is a worse person than Phillips in this black and white world but this too is part of the narrative. If Peggy can’t permanently win over sexism in one person, it’s not real victory at all. If what’s remarkable about her is how she fights (due to the serum) then who didn’t have it, will never have a hope. Peggy Carter was more of a female model when she wasn’t supersoldier, she felt more of a role model in “Captain America”, when she got to do this with her own strength:
Peggy Carter: Put your right foot forward. Gilmore Hodge: Mmm… We gonna wrassle? Cause I got a few moves I know you’ll like. [suddenly Peggy punches him hard in the face. Col.Phillips drives up] Col. Chester Phillips: Agent Carter. Peggy Carter: Colonel Phillips. Col. Chester Phillips: I see you’re breaking in the candidates. That’s good!
…than when she punched Nazis thanks to being a super soldier. Peggy has never been a fragile Fräulein, but this episode seems to remark she’s not one merely because she has taken the serum.
As a result… she sets an impossible role model for girls. If the key to be (partially) respected and accepted by males is to get the super soldier serum and/or the shiled… well, that serum doesn’t exist, not does the shield.
And a similar problem exists in “What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?”
Teaching a small child he can solve problems by talking and not by hitting is important… but passing the message that you can stop bullies or worse just by talking to them is again setting an impossible role model. People like Thanos can’t be stopped with just words. People like Yondu and the Ravagers wouldn’t become Robin Hood and his merry men merely because they have with themselves a young boy who tells them the right things… and what Yondu does to T’Challa is worse than what he did to Quill and having been kidnapped as a child shouldn’t be waved off so easily. We’re not talking of Yondu finding an orphaned T’Challa and raising him, if he had picked up N’Jadaka after he lost his father it would have been different, but here, he just ripped a child from a loving family, a family he loved back. And it’s almost presented as a good thing because this causes the universe to be saved by Thanos, Yondu’s lie giving T’Challa the motivation to try to to make the universe a better place.
Nebula: You lost your home, and now you save everyone else's.
And problems continue with “What If... the World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?” because there, the solution, the hope, is presented solely by the superheroes. No one opposes to Loki, the whole Earth is expected to be saved by Captain America and Carol Danvers. The one who refuses to kneel to Loki is Fury, who’s considered special. We don’t have in this story a lone old man who’s standing stubbornly despite the threat.
LOKI: Kneel before me. [The crowd ignores him. Three more Loki's appear, surrounding and blocking the crowd from escaping.] I said KNEEL! [While the crowd quietly kneels, Loki embraces out his arms with a wide smile] Is not this simpler? Is this not your natural state? It's the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel. ELDER GERMAN MAN: [As the words resonate to the kneeling crowd, an elder German man refuses to kneel and stands, heroic.] Not to men like you. LOKI: There are no men like me. ELDER GERMAN MAN: There are always men like you. LOKI: Look to your elder, people. Let him be an example. [As Loki is about to execute the man with his scepter as the light glows blue. Right as the energy beam shoots out, Captain America arrives, diving in just in time to block the blast with his shield, and knocking down Loki]
So basically in this series heroes set impossible standards… and are the only ones who can save the day. It can be fun for an adult, as he doesn’t need role models… but for a boy who’s no more a small child but not yet old enough to do without viewing heroes are role models, the heroes presents a standard that is something unattainable. And this is bad because he too might enjoy watching the show, but the show gives him no hope… where ironically, Marvel movies were about giving positive role models in which you could identify.
Overall I stay my case, the “What if” series is definitely enjoyable… but the bar for the target audience is set to a very young age, they don’t really follow the idea that one small change can realistically change everything because they actually intrude plenty of small changes for their setting to work, and might end up not giving the right message if you’re in between a age between a small child and an adult. Of course future “What if” episodes might change, and I will probably still love them because I adore what if… but I would love them even more if they had aimed to a target audience a little older… making their heroes, more realistic role models which can be emulated and if they had respected their own premise, that ONE SINGLE CHANGE can create a completely different new reality.
What changed in the Peggy episode wasn’t just Peggy not sitting on the booth. What changed in the T’Challa episode wasn’t just Yondu sending his subordinates to pick up a kid. What changed in the mightiest heroes episode wasn’t just Hope dying.
The fact you need more changes in order to make the difference makes the initial point that one change can make the difference void. You destroy your own premise… and this is not really a great idea.
But whatever, I guess if the idea is that the audience is really young, they didn’t expect the audience to pick this up but just to swallow their idea that ‘a moment created a new universe’.

This Whole Titan Thing Is Kinda Fucked, vol. XCVII
I haven’t been active in this fandom for very long so this might have been discussed to death already and so I’m sorry, but something just clicked for me:
Marley’s the only one who knows how to make pure titans--specifically, Marley’s military. I don’t think that was ever stated outright, but it’s been implied by everything, and I don’t remember anything contradicting it. At the very least, it is heavily implied by the fact that no other country has actually used titans as a weapon. That’s purely Marley’s domain.
Udo has said that conditions for Eldians outside of Marley are much worse; it’s also said by several people that Marley keeps Eldians around, in the ghetto, so that they have a stock of potential titans around to unleash if needed. But this makes sense: if other countries don’t know how to turn regular Eldians into pure titans, they can’t utilize them, and they have no reason to keep such a hated people around.
Then the hatred the other countries have for Eldians makes sense on a whole other, sickening level: they don’t know how Eldians become titans. These people don’t even know how it works, they don’t know that the Eldian they just bumped into in the street isn’t capable of suddenly becoming a mindless killing machine simply out of spite. And that Eldian doesn’t know it either: they might wish they could be that powerful, that they could spit in the grinding oppression and hatred they live with; or they might wish they just knew where the monster was in themselves so that they could cut it out and finally be accepted; but they can’t.
JFC every time I think of this fucked-up world I find a new reason to be horrified.

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. CV
It was a love story from the very beginning
Gabe, the Sexologist Archangel
(13x20/13x21)
Hello my dears! I will talk today about a very interesting topic and how Gabriel's character was used as a reminder and also as a realization of angelic sexuality. Not just that, but a constant introspection to sexuality too for Dean.
Gabe as a reflection of Dean
First of all and before jumping to Gabriel sexy bones, let's talk about the way Dean was talking with his husband at the phone as he was scolding his little brother at the same time... I'm talking about episode 13x20, "Unfinished Business"...
[Dean’s on the phone with Cas]
DEAN: Yeah. No, we just got in. Mm-hmm.
DEAN, to SAM: What are you doing? Don't unpack.
SAM: Dude, we could be here for days.
DEAN: No. No. Hey, hell, no.
DEAN [again to Cas over the phone]: Hey -- No, not you. That's… Just call us when you get to Amarillo, all right?
[he disconnects his call]
Why am I pointing at this scene? Because when Dean realizes Castiel thought he was yelling to him, he immediately changed his body language and the tone of his voice became more sweet, almost intimate, as if he was saying: 'No, not you, babe." It looks like that and it sound like that. Just go rewatch that scene and die with me.
The encounter with Gabe
Gabriel will speak and behave as if he were showing future Dean, but also, will bring the sexual references.
Just a little thing over here to connect with my meta of hands and foreshadow, in the middle of the battle between the Nordic gods and the boys we had Sam touching his neck, as a foreshadow of they way he will die in episode 13x21.
Gif credit @myheartofmusic
Tumblr media
DEAN: Whatever. What did they want with you?
GABRIEL: I killed their brother.
This is very meaningful because if we took the demigods as the angels and Gabriel talking about killing their brother, it's what Dean will do when he will kill Lucifer in 13x23.
While Gabriel was telling his story, Dean was the one imagining it. And how his mind went from porn stars to watch a man receiving a relaxing touching from a handsome black haired boy with a red ascot, related to Dean and his own bisexuality.
GABRIEL: Don't let anybody ever tell you you're just a pretty face.
[Dean frowns and shakes his head at that]
This is so cute, because Dean is listening to him as if Gabe was his teacher. He feels identify with Gabe story and words. Gabe is literally, a Destiel Sexologist.
GABRIEL: Oh. That top one? That is for the man with the plan, the architect of my torture, and my own personal public enemy numero uno. Their papa… Loki.
The big similitude between Gabriel's revenge on Loki for being his torture, and Dean's trying to find and kill AUMichael, for being his torture too, in 14x03, is noticeable.
Another important paralell is Gabe taking a new identity to hide, but, adopting Loki's shape by doing it. This is the same with AUMichael, who will take Dean and a woman's shape.
Another foreshadows...
Pay attention to Kevin's last words...
KEVIN: Michael doesn't want to kill you. He wants to break you. He said for me to tell you that, “Even if you win, you still lose.” I'm sorry.
This is what Michael will do with Dean. He will break him while releasing him at first, making him think he won, and then will possese him again in 14x09.
Dean going alone to kill Loki is Jack going alone to kill Michael.
But... Loki vs Gabe (played by the same actor, it means, the same two faces) as a foreshadow for AUCas vs Cas, but mostly, AUMichael vs Dean in Rocky's bar (14x10)
Now, it's time to see Angels can have active sexuality.
Jumping to episode 13x21...
Let's talk about Sammy's dream. And Castiel, the pizza man, giving Dean his pizza. Even when he ate 7 pieces.
Gif set credit @bennylafitte
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7 is the number that will appear too on episode 15x10. And is symbolically talking about TRUTH. So, practically, Dean will have the truth from Castiel in 15x18!
But also the innuendo that comes with it... Because this episode will talk about angelic sexuality.
Grace and virility
A lot of points and scenes with sexual innuendo throughout the episode, because Gabe is here:
Gabe taking off his own grace could be related to masturbation, thanks to Castiel's hands gestures and Dean's reaction.
The little grace Gabe gives them to open the portal was related to Erection. Also Gabe following "the fall" of the rift with his own sword.
Gif set credit @sleepypanda27
Tumblr media
His dialogue with Rowena as he read a book with a pipe on it, another sexual reference to erection.
The seduction after that between the red haired witch and the Archangel.
The "make out session or more" between Rowena and Gabe with it's consequences as they were caught: Dean is amazed, Sam is speechless and Castiel is ashamed (because the sacred oath).
The incident after they arrived to the AU, in which Gabe's face is on Castiel's crotch, a very gay scene for Dean's eyes. Which at first was staring at them with curiosity and suddenly in turned out into a gay panic mode.
Gif set credit @cath-avery
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The triumph over the brother's pathological codependency (at least for now)
When Sam dies there was another scene writers tried to show how the pathologic codependency could be left behind. Castiel stops Dean who was heading to look after Sam. The angel said it was in vein because he was already dead and there was a mission: to find Mary and Jack.
The trust in Castiel won over the codependency between brothers. Even when it was a very controversial way to show it.
To Conclude:
Gabe's character introduction brought the idea of sexualization of grace and angels.
The idea of a sexual active Castiel blocked by the sacred oath and the introspection of Dean's bisexuality.
Hope you like this meta, see you in the next one!

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. CVI
It was a love story from the very beginning.
Cas vs AUCas
Hi there! Okay I wanted to finish season 13 in one meta but the last episode has a lot of juice inside so I decided to give it one exclusive meta hehehe.
I will talk here about Cas and his alter ego in the AU world, assign to it a little of daddy issues.
Let's start this...
"Luke, I am your father."
Lucifer finding Jack and trying to convince him about his origins and trying to drag him more and more to connect with him and his hidden intentions, are a reflection for the incoming issue with Chuck and humanity.
So, as always, Lucifer will try to use the manipulative speech with his son by throwing statementa that could be seen as morally accurate.
LUCIFER: Your name is Jack.
JACK: And yours is Lucifer.
DEAN (stalking over in anger) No. No, no. No. You don’t talk to him. (pointing at Lucifer) And you, don’t listen to him. (pointing at Jack)
LUCIFER: (sounding reasonable) Um, don’t you think that’s his choice?
And everyone in the room would say 'he's right' Because that's how Lucifer uses manipulation. He can sound reasonable. And that's the danger of leaving him at his please.
Look at this twist of semantics...
LUCIFER I mean, the point is...humans are not perfect. They’re hardwired to fall. And when they do, they need a fall guy.
CAS (to Jack) That’s a vast oversimplification.
LUCIFER (annoyed) Okay, so true or false, Cas -- um, for almost, like, ever, I’ve been locked away in a Cage?
CAS Yes.
LUCIFER True! It’s true. So how did I do all this evil for all these centuries, I wonder?
As I said, Luci's speech is dangerously logical. Letting Lucifer freely speak, is more dangerous that fight him in a physical battle.
But we know Dean, Cas and Sam won't fall for it.
Remember this is a B-L (Bruckleming) episode, so we will have here a failed attempt of redemption arc for Lucifer. I know Leming was pushing for it, but it wasn't a welcomed idea between writers so... That's why you had Luci crying his tears in front of Gabe, as if he was regretting something, he didn't. Because he is Lucifer. So, goodbye to that idea.
Good performance from Mark Pellegrino tho.
Mary punching Lucifer in the face, closing a circle from 12x23 when she confesses she always dreamt with punching the devil in the face. She did it in that episode but I think this punch was way better satisfying for her.
Jumping to another little take for a foreshadow...
BOBBY Just got news about Charlie and Ketch. Goin’ after the execution squad went sideways. They’re the ones who got ambushed.
This is the cliffhanger or twist of the story we will have in 14x09, when AUMichael posseses Dean again.
Cas vs Cas
Settling the continuity of character development, we had a very visual way to show how much Castiel had grown throughout the seasons.
Before this encounter, we had Castiel coming back to soldier mode, as Dean requested him with the 'whatever it takes' speech.
This time is Dean himself the one asking Cas to use torture over a person, just like he did with Donnie. The only good thing in this scene is Dean and Castiel communicating without talking.
Gif set credit @becauseofthebowties
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This preamble was needed to lead us to the AUCas vs Cas scene. In which AUCastiel represented what the Empty was for Castiel at the beginning of this season. AUCas was, certainly, a Castiel that never met Dean Winchester in this reality. Taking that as our base in this discussion, AUCastiel never fell, and he followed Heaven's order blindly, symbolically represented with a Nazi suit.
We could infer Castiel could be like him if Dean had never born and Apocalypse was successful.
But let's check AUCas dialogues...
AW-CASTIEL I haven’t seen many like you. But... But you have to understand that everyone has a breaking point. A...point of pain. Particular, primitive fear, maybe. But it’s a nerve so...raw that your will -- grit, they cease to be factors. And then all your little secrets, they flow from your mind, to mine...until your mind no longer exists.
This speech AUCastiel says to AUCharlie, just like Castiel reading Donnie's mind or torturing that young man, are all foreshadows for what will happen with AUMichael trying to decipher Dean's deepest thoughts and secrets. "What do you want?" Which will be the topic in season 14.
And now, CAS vs CAS...
AW-CASTIEL More than one of us. Fascinating.
CAS (looking at his double) I’ve gotten used to it.
Two Castiels, like the Empty and Cas, or like AUMichael and Dean inside of Dean,'s mind.
AW-CASTIEL You align yourself with the h-humans.
Humans were considered as garbage between these angels in this AU, so, the sole idea of looking at himself in our Castiel been allies with humans it's disgusting.
Gif credit @inacatastrophicmind
Tumblr media
CAS I vastly prefer them to angels.
This is a lesson Castiel had learned after meeting Dean and realizing Angels were wrong
AW-CASTIEL Don’t think that you are better than me. Well, we are the same.
This is very interesting, because AUCastiel maybe also has that idea of rebellion inside of him, as he saw it fulfilled in Castiel.
CAS Yes. We are.
The confirmation here is infering Castiel recognizes what kind of angel he was, what kind of angel he could be if he had never met Dean, and at the same time, he is killing that part of him, and accepting who he is now. This will have it's continuity in season 14, and it's conclusion in 15x18, always linked to that dark side he defeats, symbolically represented by the Empty, and the last word said by Jack, his son, bringing him back to life.
Miscellaneous: DESTIEL INTIMACY:
Gif set credit @inacatastrophicmind
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This tiny scene here is very important. Castiel approached Dean without talking and opens Dean's backpack to take off the handcuffs. And Dean just let him. There's no sign of surprise in Dean's face, he just let Castiel to sink his hand in his backpack showing us the amount of intimacy between these two characters. The trust and the long term relationship. This is something only a person that is very very close to you is allowed to do. And is so romantic and really meaningful. Is foreshadowing too 14x03 when Dean asks Castiel to get inside his head. Because he trust his angel with his life.
To Conclude:
This episode was a preamble to daddy issues in season 14 (Chuck and John) and it also showed an interesting interact between AUCas and Castiel, textually representing his growth of character.
Hope you like this meta, see you in the next one.

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. CIII
It was a love story from the very beginning.
Two Worlds. Two Hearts. (Part I)
(13x17/13x18/13x19)
Hello everyone! This meta is gonna have three parts, but one central topic: the ultimate lovers separation. I will detail in here how these two episode were foreshadowing 15x18. Is gonna be one meta per episode, so I hope you like it.
So, let's start...
Feeding grace parallels
Episode 13x17 speaks about an angsty 'Lovers Separation'.
The episode starts with our cute Dean being a goof, because he is feeling so happy, even with his mom kidnapped in another AU, and do you know why? Because Cas is back. And because he's in love with Castiel.
Sam and Dean are searching for the Seal of Solomon, is a reference to a gift given by god to Solomon, the seal contained the tentatram to protect and defeat demons. But, as a divine mention, is talking about the incoming introduction of Chuck in season 14.
Another symbolism of god and divine is the Seventh Division. Number seven represents Perfection and it's related to God.
A couple of nasty parallels we are having with Anael/Luci sharing grace, but also, we have Asmodeus feeding with Gabe, that reminds us Crowley feeding with human blood, or Cas feeding with grace or Sam feeding with demon blood. Anyway, the thing is Asmodeus feeding with Gabe's grace leads him to addiction, just like Sam and Crowley.
Destiel Mirrors
We are in Krispy's Dinner now, we have one waitress named Amy (dressed in red) and one young man named Buck, the cotumer, dressed in blue (hello Destiel mirror).
BUCK: Amy.
AMY: Hey, Buck. Have you decided what you want?
BUCK: Yeah. I’d like to try something different.
JOANNE: Poor Buck. He comes in here bird-dogging after Amy and she won’t give him a simple yes or no.
OMG this is so sad and hilarious at the same time. Related with Castiel answering about a propose to be alive again and Dean giving him the SOLFIER SPEECH like... Okay, Cas is patient and he comes back to Dean everytime, but Dean is always repressing his true feelings and words.
To point with remarkable transcendence Castiel's death and Dean's traumatic mourn at the beginning of season 13, we will have one of the attackers dying in front of the Dean in the same way Castiel died. Stabbed from behind, in the back, with the sharp knife showing off from his chest.
And a quick shot from the camera showing us Dean's terrorized eyes, recalling his trauma.
Now, jumping to the Central scene, Dean is kidnapped by the interdimensional monster using a human vessel, Sandy.
He is kidnapped to use him a a vessel for her lover another monster.
Again, the concept of Dean becoming a vessel, foreshadowing AUMichael's possession.
Sandy's story about how she was separated from her lover is a foreshadow for the ultimate lovers separation in episode 15x18.
YOKOTH: I mean us. It was supposed to be us. Glythur and I, together. But my love…they shut the rift before he could make it through.
DEAN (with maximum sarcasm) Oh my God. That's tragic. It's like a Hallmark movie. But with tentacles.
Gif set credit @inacatastrophicmind
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This lovers separation through the rift, leaving one in this world and the other in another different deme soon is what will happen with Castiel and Dean in episode 15x18. They supposed to be together but they were separated at the end.
Also, the reference to tentacles again is linked to Dean's fantasies and bisexuality. Remember how Jessica the reaper, said Dean has anime about tentacles. Hehehe.
The scene in which Dean is gagged preannounces his future possesion and how he will fell. Also all the tentacles of the male monster trying to posses him i also a foreshadow of Michaelm. And the pornographic alusión, is related with his bi self. 🙈😅
The trauma of losing Castiel is so big in Dean's mind that he decides to rush his travel into the AU world not waiting for Castiel to return, and not even calling him to tell him about it.
Dean runs quickly into the AU, accepting Ketch assistance. Without listen to Sam and trying to do it before Cas returns. To protect his Angel from dying again. Because he just CAN'T LOSE CAS AGAIN. HE JUST CAN'T SEE HIM DIE AGAIN IN FRONT OF HIS EYES.
Gif credit @out-in-the-open
Tumblr media
Miscellaneous: I wanted to add here how OIC was this scene when we all know Dean is very nerdy boy.
Gif credit @out-in-the-open
Tumblr media
To Coclude:
This episode foreshadowed the entrance of Chuck in season 14, also Dean's possesion but, definitely, the way the writer will write 15x18, the conclusion in the show for Destiel: Lovers Separation. A tragic Hallmark Movie.
Hope you like this, see you in the next one.

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. CI
It was a love story from the very beginning.
Wrong Words
(13x14)
Hi there! I will talk in this meta about miscommunication, but mostly, about how Dean can't use the right words with CAS, which had been always our struggle as fans hahaahhaa.
Let's start this!
Fire and Fear
At the beginning of episode 13x14 'Good Intentions' we have Jack being manipulated by Zachary . The angel uses the fear to try to get some info from Jack's head.
Fear is the same tool Michael will use to try to break Dean, but it won't work just like I'd doesn't work with Jack.
Another interesting dialogue piece that shows us what Chuck appearance will mean in season 14 and 15 is the following...
CASTIEL: I wanted you to see the natural world before… before it was spoiled. Humans have good intentions, but… they never truly appreciated the gift they were given. Left to their own devices, humans… they would destroy everything.
This is fake Castiel in Jack's head and it's the way writers link AU!Michael with Chuck. It's the same thing like say HUMANS DON'T PLAY THEIR ROLES AS THEY SHOULD. DOESN'T FOLLOW THE PLAN. It will be the final plot of season 15. It speaks about how Michael and Chuck see the free will as something dangerous and destructive for their plans.
Two Hearts and the Wrong Words
The hearts of Gog and Magog was the fake ingredient Donnie asked for the spell.
DEAN: Okay, so we’re supposed to find these guys and cut out their hearts? How?
The symbolism of cutting hearts are linked to the incoming Destiel break up that will start in season 14 and then will find its climax in season 15.
When Donatello mentions that it will be dangerous... This is what happens...
CASTIEL: Then I’ll do it.
DEAN: I’ll go with you.
Dean won't let nothing bad happen to his angel. That's a fact that repeats all along in this season. Dean trying to protect Cas from danger. Dean going with him everywhere. Dean trying to get a bullet for his angel, as we will hear from him in Scoobynatural.
Then... The wrong words...
Pay attention to this dialogue here...
DEAN: How are you holdin’ up, Cas?
CASTIEL: I’m fine.
DEAN: No, I just mean with, you know, everything you’ve been through. And… I know you really wanna find Lucifer.
Dean is trying to find out how Cas feels, this is a very nice gesture from him, but also, he is worried about how CAS could feel after being kidnapped, he just wants to talk about that, because it's a heavy weight he carries, the guilt of not seeing Asmodeus was playing him. So he feels he failed him. Plus the fact that Cas had been dead, knowing that had been a blast in Dean's life... But at the same time, Dean tries to avoid that topic which is, the elephant in the room. But CAS will direct his answer to that elephant...
CASTIEL: No, it’s not that. It’s about… well, it is that, but it’s also I… Dean I was—I was dead.
DEAN: Temporarily.
Here is again Dean trying to avoid the topic as if it never happened or if as it was nothing. Is his way to avoid it, to keep going. Because the memory of it is too painful. And because it's still a knife in his heart. It's part of his most horrible fears. To lose Castiel again, unbearable. So, it's better not give it too much attention. 'Temporally' as 'It was nothing, it was just for a few days, we are fine, don't talk about it.'
But Castiel insists...
CASTIEL: And I have to believe I was brought back for a reason.
Gif set credit @subbydean
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cas feels that he came back and nothing had changed. Because they didn't speak about it. Because he doesn't know if Dean missed him. He knows Sam and Dean need him for battle. But, he has to find something else in this. There's something else. And he feels maybe is Dean the one who has to say it. Something. Something that gives him a more deep meaning. But Dean can't speak about it. Dean can't recall the pain. Dean can't express what is in his heart... So he shifts the backpack, avoids eye contact and lies, he just go with his usual avoiding self, and gives the "FAMILY NEEDED YOU" NEED vs WANT again. WE instead of I/Me.
DEAN: You were. Okay, Jack brought you back because we needed you back.
CASTIEL: Right. And how have I repaid him? I promised his mother that I would protect him, but now he’s trapped in that place while Lucifer is here, who’s… I mean, he’s getting stronger and more powerful by the day. And if Michael really is coming, maybe I was brought back to help prepare.
Castiel doesn't find a propose in Dean's words, doesn't find what he's looking for from him. The 'Right' is dated with disappoinment in his eyes, with sadness, looking at the man he loves. The unrequited love strikes again. So he changes to Jack, if Jack needs him, he will be there. Soldier Mode and the mission and the promise to Kelly come to his rescue. Castiel changes to soldier mode again.
DEAN: Prepare for what?
CASTIEL: War. War is what Michael does.
If there's nothing else there for him, then there's his mission. The war. That will be his porpoise. And Dean's words will be what Cas will have in his mind the rest of the season.
DEAN: Well, then we do what we do. Whatever it takes.
After this, we have their fight with Gog and Magog, but first, let's see this dialogue over here, it seems something fun and married couple thing, but it has a very deep meaning, according to what we were talking about so far.
DEAN: Well, Enochian’s kinda tough. Maybe you got a word wrong.
CASTIEL: I don’t get “words wrong.”’
Castiel says this with annoyance. Why? Because he tries to transmit a second message behind his words. How could Cas use his first language wrong? It's impossible. But is not impossible to Dean to use his wrong words even using his first language. Cas knows Dean didn't say what Castiel needed to hear from him. I don't get my words wrong, but you do. I always say what is in my heart, you don't.
We had some fan service when Gog and Magog called Dean and Cas beautiful.
'They are equally pretty.'
Is something all the fandom knows hahahhahaa.
Another foreshadow and Castiel soldier mode
When Michael decides to bring Jack with Mary, Mary recognizes why he did it.
MARY: He’s not gonna hurt you, Jack. He’s gonna hurt me. Why do you think he brought you here? So that we would meet, so that we would talk. And then when he comes back, if you don’t do what he wants, he’s going to kill me.
This is what Michael will try with Dean too. Once Michael will left Dean's body in 14x02, as an attempt to make him believe he was free, with his family. Giving him fake hopes, that's the way Michael will try to really break him. That's why he did this with Jack.
Do you remember when Dean used his wrong words with Castiel and he switched into soldier mode??
SAM: What are you doing?
[CASTIEL walks down the hallway towards where DONATELLO is. SAM and DEAN follow him.]
CASTIEL: What I have to.
He will fried Donnie's brains to get some info, after the boys tell him Donatello doesn't have a soul and after Donnie used a spell that almost drowned Dean. (Dean drowning was another foreshadow for his possesion, is how he described to Sam how felt to be possesed the first time.)
CASTIEL: I’m sorry, but I’m not going to let you or anyone hurt the people I love. Not again.
Castiel's reaction was drastic after Donnie attacked Dean. He didn't do this after knowing Donni had attacked Sam, even if Sam is parto of THE PEOPLE CAS LOVE. But his violent reaction is linked directly to Dean almost drowing.
DEAN: Yeah, but who gets to make that choice? You? What exactly gives you the right?
CASTIEL: Nothing. I took it. And if I hadn’t acted, we would still be sitting around and talking about what to do next. We would be wasting time. And it’s time we don’t have, Dean. I told you, war is coming. War. And I did what soldiers do. Now we needed the spell to open the rift, and I got it.
The words whatever it takes is resonating in Cas' head. He is focused again, as a soldier should be, focused in war, in the mission. Dean allowed that.
To Conclude:
This episode showed us a couple of more foreshadows for Michael!Dean but it also talked about the 'wrong words' and 'misscommunication'.
How the wrong words made Cas to turn into his soldier mode, and that's the mode will last until the end of the season.
Hope you like this meta! See you in the next one!

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. CIII
It was a love story from the very beginning.
Two Worlds. Two Hearts. (Part. II)
(13x17/13x18/13x19)
Hello again! Second part of this huge preamble to 15x18!
We'll be talking here about episode 13x18, 'Bring them back Alive' it's a huge reflection of Dean's inner fears and also we will find a lot of Destiel parallels and mirrors.
Redemption Arcs
Ketch is here, in this episode, trying to redeem himself.
KETCH: ...the rift closes.
DEAN: Look, we just got spin-cycled through space and time, okay? And yes, this is... different than my last drop-by. And what's this “we” crap, hmm? You came here to save yourself, so... go save yourself, somewhere else.
We don't forget Ketch tried to kill him and kidnapped his mother. So, Dean rejects him in everyway.
Ketch and Dean share the same amount of Guilt, tho, so, we can see them as reflections of each other. But Ketch is the murderer, the one Dean doesn't wanna be. So, Ketch reflects on him all the bad things Dean sees in himself.
And, it's not casual that we see AUCharlie in this episode. Charlie is one of the biggest GUILTS Dean feels in his heart. So, Dean changes the plan once he sees Charlie in danger. It's like a second opportunity to save her.
DEAN: No, I prefer the "let's find Charlie before the angels turn her inside-out' technique.
KETCH: Remind me again why we're risking everything to find this girl?
DEAN: Because she's seen my mom. She's seen Jack. We need her.
KETCH: And you're sure that's what this is about? You're sure it's not... personal?
Of course it's personal! Dean needs to save Charlie this time!
Another interesting quote, and very meaningful for us, Drstiel shippers, was Dean saying to Ketch that 'he wasn't his type either' once Ketch observes he was looking bad, as a nice parallel to that scene in season 10x03 in which Dean compliments Castiel's looks.
Gifset credit @inacatastrophicmind
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, moving on from this cute Drstiel detail, we have Dean with a mortal wound on his shoulder (also foreshadow of Sam's wound in season 15 that will connect him with Chuck), the important symbolism in this scene is Ketch healing Dean. If Ketchs represents Dean trying to redeem himself, this scene is plenty meaningful for all the path Dean will walk in season 14, self knowledge and healing with self acceptance.
The Connection
And Cas gets mad and jealous, of course. He can't understand why Dean rushed things. He doesn't know Dean won't allow him to put his life in danger in this AU as he did at the end of season 12.
Gif set credit @timetraveldean
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, let's talk about connections...
Asmodeus proclaiming his connection with Gabe through the grace he consumes from him.
This connection can be related to AU!Michael and Dean, but also like the antithesis to Destiel.
Paying attention to this piece of dialogue, we will find the similitude with AU!Michael possessing Dean...
ASMODEUS: Gabriel! What are you doin', son? You know too well what I can do to you. I broke you!
As a premonition of Dean breaking free and healing from his emotional prison in 15x10, we have this quote. 'I broke you' that's what Michael tried to do when he released Dean in episode 14x03 and brought him back to his family. That was his plan to break him, but, even so, Dean was able to break free and lock him Michael down in his own mind.
Another interesting foreshadow related to Rocky's Bar (Dean's emotional prison) was Sam's speech to Gabe.
SAM: Gabriel, you have to dig yourself out of this hole. Look, I know you think it's safer inside. No more torture. No more pain. No more expectations. I've been there.
Gabe is also locked in his own mind, his own emotional prison. So these words are applying too to Sam (family love) and Castiel (romantic love) trying to make Dean see the reality.
SAM: You were nothing like your family. You sure as hell weren't like your dad. Me either. And just like you, I got out. Or I-I thought I got out. But then... then my family needed me. And this is my life. No matter how many times I tried to fight it, this is what I was put here to do. This is where I make the world a better place. And sure, yeah, hookers in Monte Carlo sounds great, but your family needs you. Jack, your nephew, needs you. The world needs you. We need you. [pleading] Gabriel, I need you. So, please, help us.
This speech is a mix of Sam and CAS talking with Dean inside his mind in the Rocky's bar as I said, and it's the key to release him. The 'family needs you' quote it's pivotal to open Dean's eyes.
To Conclude:
As Cas will face his own dark AUCastiel, Dean faces Ketch as a reflection of his guilt and self esteem in the AU world.
Gabe's breaking free from Asmodeus is foreshadowing Dean breaking free from his emotional prison in season 14.
Hope you like this meta. See you in the next one!

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. CIV
It was a love story from the very beginning.
Two Worlds. Two Hearts. (Part III)
(13x17/13x18/13x19)
Hello my friends! This is the third part of this topic. This time we are gonna talk about 'Funeralia' episode 13x19 written by Steve Yockey.
We had a little of second meaning and laughs in this episode, so I hope you enjoy it.
Cas is a clueless hot angel
The first scene I wanna talk about is Rowena flirting with Castiel because I can. Our sweet witch doesn't lose her opportunity to show she really appreciates Castiel sex apple when she hears him talk at the other side of the line.
Of course, our cute angel reacts all flustered and Dean just looks at him askance like: "why are you blushing?" Which I find very accurate with Jealous!Dean. It's exactly the same reaction he had when Meg was around sending hearts with her eyes to Cas.
Gif set credit @bennylafitte
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rowena: Ah, the handsome angel is there, isn’t he? Hello tweety pie.
Castiel: Um, hello.
Another funny scene was the classic 'ball handler' .
Let's see how this scene starts...
Castiel and Dean are both trying to think how to track Gabe.
Dean: I didn’t say it was gonna be easy, but uh… All right, come on. Ideas. [closes his eyes and rubs his hands together] Come on. Here we go.
Dean starts by making a gesture with his hands, very cute and dummy, just because Castiel is there watching him. Cas sighs and closes his eyes. In that moment Dean flicks his eyes to him. Yeah, Castiel's handsome. But then Mr. MISCOMMUNICATION strikes again...
Dean: (...) Nah. I need a real drink. I’m gonna get a beer. You wanna beer?
Castiel: No.
Dean: I’ll get a beer.
Gif set credit @inacatastrophicmind
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, this is something very VERY known in the fandom, so, I'm not saying new things but, Yockey wanted to remark here the Destiel classic MISCOMMUNICATION. In which Dean offers beer, Castiel says NO, and he gives him a beer anyways. So, if you pay attention bro the body language, Castiel shifts uncomfortably in his place as if he was mad.
Castiel: Maybe Heaven could help us.
Dean: Ah, not for nothing, but don’t the angels mostly want to kill you?
Dean again sending danger around Castiel. He doesn't want his angel to go through it, or die again. So, angels? Heaven? Is not a good idea.
Castiel: Yes. Yeah. This would be something of a Hail Mary.
Dean: Hmm.
Castiel: It’s a sports term, like slam dunk or, uh... ball handler.
Dean: That’s, uh… Mnh-mnh. No, I don’t think it's a good idea.
Gif credit @shirtlesssammy
Tumblr media
Castiel is hilariously using a second meaning term and Dean can't explain it because it would mean explain a sexual meaning to the angel, which, it's a big no. So he just checks him out, because he knows Castiel is not aware of he said. But it's also kind of hot and cute.
This is related to Gabe apparition in this season and all the sexuality and second meanings linked to angels.
When they engage into a discussion about why going with the angels is not a good plan, Sam appears in the middle bringing another problem. Dean solves that one and then, coming from nowhere, he just throws the conclusion to their previous chat with Castiel. This quote is full of Dean's deep fears. And it caught Sammy's attention, giving him an idea of what he had just interrupted.
Dean: You better. Cas, you wanna try this angel thing, then go for it. Just don’t get dead again.
Gif set credit @inacatastrophicmind
Tumblr media Tumblr media
'Just don't get dead again'. It's an inner prayer Dean has everyday, each time he recalls Castiel's dead and his own mourning. And Castiel's sueprised face.
Two Lovers
The dialogue between Jessica, the reaper, and Sam and Dean, telling them she's always watching them, it's a creepy foreshadow of Chuck and his eternal watching over the boys. Not intimacy at all.
But, I named this section 'two lovers' and I'm gonna explain why.
There's a pic inside a book Sam and Dean find to research about the murder of several reapers.
That picture had been analyzed plenty but a lot of meta writers in this fandom.
What I'm gonna add here is...
A lady in red ( Dean) a man in blue (Cas) and Death trying to separate them, unfructuously. Why? Because the man in blue (Castiel) kills Death.
This could be applied to:
Castiel killing Billie and then dying and then coming back from the Empty. It could be seen as triumph in episode 13x05 when the lovers are reunited.
But, but, knowing now the facts, I think it applies mostly to 15x18. Because Cas killing Death again... Being swallowed by the Empty (lovers separation) and then coming back to life in Heaven. And they robbed our Destiel reunion, for sure.
To Conclude, Death was always there separating the lovers...
Another quote I'm gonna bring here is something Bernard said to Dean...
Bernard: She’s powerful, she’s gorgeous, and she’s paying me a small fortune. That woman didn’t have to cast a spell on me.
This, my friends, it's related to the spell those two sisters put on Dean to make him fall in love with one of them. But... Takes those words and put it in Dean's mind. That applies perfectly to Castiel and him. Because CAS DIDN'T NEED TO PUT ANY SPELL ON HIM, BECAUSE CAS IS GORGEOUS AND POWERFUL, AND DEAN IS IN LOVE WITH HIM, FREELY IN LOVE WITH HIS ANGEL.
Another little foreshadows were implied in the conversation between Naomi and Castiel.
First of all, Castiel is able to snap at her what she did to him in season 8, as a growth of character. But, let's point at the little clues...
After talking about the few angels alive, which bring the huge crisis in Heaven, that will be solve by Jack as the new god at the end of the show, we had a foreshadow for 'souls walking the Earth' that will open season 14.
Naomi: Without him, in time we’ll burn out. Heaven will crumble, and all the souls that have been entrusted to our care will fall back to earth. Picture it, Castiel-- billions upon billions of ghosts unleashed upon the world. All that chaos, all that death.
And then, in our noses, Naomi is telling us the show was about to end...
Naomi: Everything ends, Castiel.
Cas: Everything ends.
To Conclude:
This episode had it all, sexual innuendo, fan service and clues to decipher the incoming season and also the end of the show.
I hope you enjoyed this meta, see you in the next one!

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. XCIX
It was a love story from the very beginning.
Dean is in love.
(13x11/13x12)
Hello my friends!!! We almost arriving to the half of the season!
I will talk mostly about episode 14x12, the episode Dean confesses he's in love, okay. Kind of. 🤣
Let's start this mess ...
Family Love
Episode 13x11 talks about family love to point us the difference with romantic love (Dean in the firsts 5 episodes).
We have Sam depressed, because he thinks they won't be able to find Mary. Now, the one that had lost his faith and hopes is Sam. And Dean will be the one keeping the hopes up, because he just got back his angel back.
The brother go to help Donna. Donna is desperate trying to find her lost niece. Her despair and her seek is a foreshadow how Sam and Mary searching for Dean in the first episode from season 14.
The vamps wear mask, (as symbolic representation of future Dean's possesion).
Another important point here is Doug breaking up with Donna once he discovers Donna hunts monsters.
This fact could be seen as a parallel to Cassie and Dean, but also, as a premonition of Dean and Cas break up.
The parallel of depression between Dean and Sam rests on the fact that Sam wasn't suicidal.
Sam had put all his hopes in Jack and now Jack is gone, so, all the words that come out from his mouth, are examples of how he feels. His speech to Donna after Doug left, it's a recalling of Dean's speech to Patience.
SAM: Let him go. Donna, when you choose this life, anyone who gets too close, eventually they get hurt. Or worse. So let him go. He’ll be safer that way.
And then, when he's alone with Dean...
DEAN: I mean, we save people, Sam.
SAM: Yeah, we also get people killed, Dean. Kaia, for instance. She helped us and she died for it.
DEAN: Hey, look, I know you’re in some sort of a—
SAM: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, don’t – don’t… You keep saying I’m in a dark place, but I’m not, Dean. Everything I’m saying is the truth. It’s our lives. And I tried to pretend it didn’t have to be. I tried to pretend we could have Mom back and Cas and – and help Jack. But we can’t. This ends one way for us, Dean. It ends bloody. It ends bad.
Sam is now where Dean had been, but not even bringing Castiel back gives Sam faith and hopes. He had a plan, and the plan failed. So he lost hopes. It points perfectly the difference with Dean. Dean recognized he was in bad shape, he recognized to Billy he wanted to die. Because the pain of loosing the love of his life was unbearable.
"I'm in love"
Episode 13x12 starts with two sister, witches, dressed in red and yellow, (Dean and Sam colors) Jennie and Jamie. Both girls want to bring their mother back from dead just like Sam and Dean want to bring their mother back from the AU.
They use a hammer to kill the first man in the episode. The hammer represents JUSTICE, and it will be seen a lot in the next season related to Dean, trying to make justice for what he lived possesed by Michael. The one killing the man is Jamie, Dean's mirror.
Let's jump now to Sam and Dean scene. And because this is a Yockey episode, we have some books to pay attention to. Don't worry, my friend @emblue-sparks did an excellent work analyzing the books that Yockey put in this episode. You can find that meta here.
All those books played their role as a premonition of AU!Michael possessing Dean experience.
Now, keeping the Family Love vs Romantic Love mirror, we switch places again in this dialogue...
SAM: I’m just saying, Dean, Jack was our way over there, obviously, so with him gone…
DEAN: Okay, well, Jack’s been gone before. We found him once. We can find him again.
Remember when Sam said this to Dean the so many times Cas was gone?
Now, just a piece in what Dean says... Shows us how much he misses his angel...
DEAN: We should probably loop Cas in at some point.
The scene with Cas and Lucifer locked in prison, and trying to escape, is another foreshadow for Dean's inner prison. But, it's interesting how we cut this scene to pass to Dean and witches sisters, with Jennie saying...
JENNIE: Doesn’t a kiss, like, usually wake up your true love?
So Dean kisses Dean's mirror... How symbolic is this? Very much...
Remember when in season 14 I was screaming all my way DEAN NEEDS TO LOVE HIMSELF BEFORE LOVE OTHERS? To ourselves is PIVOTAL for our mental health. Talking about Dean, it's fundamental to release himself from his emotional prison. Dean needs to know HE IS WORTHY. He needs to really love himself, that's the symbolism of this scene.
Now... The scene in which Dean days "I'm in love" has a tiny prelude... We need to see what Sam is doing or thinking before his brother enters joyfully confesses it...
SAM: Hey, uh… I think you might be right. I think maybe it’s time we go ahead and call Cas, because, I mean, if…if…
Why is Cas here again? Preluding Dean's quote? Simply because DEAN IS IN LOVE WITH CAS
SAM: You all right?
DEAN: Am I all right? I’m in love.
SAM: You...Oh, are you?
DEAN: I mean, I am, like, full-on twitterpated here. Seriously, I can’t wait for you to meet her, either (...)

Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the big SAMMY KNOWS SCENE, poor soul he thought Dean will confess his feeling for the angel to his brother, that's why he wheels enthusiastically to hear him. That's why he asks as if he didn't know. But then Dean goes 'her' and Sam shakes his head puzzled... Why? Because he's sure his brother lives Castiel, and Castiel's is a 'him'. Wrong pronoun.
That's when our insightful moose starts to suspect something is fishy.
Rowena and the fifth base
Another important scene was Rowena talking about the fifth base, which, everybody knows what it means...
ROWENA: (...) Tell me, did they get to fifth base?
DEAN: There’s no such thing as fifth base.
ROWENA: Oh, you poor, sheltered boy. [Dean gives Sam a confused look] Anyway. What’s by is by.
(Gif set credit @whoeveryoulovethemost )
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Analyzing Dean's reaction to Rowena's wording in second meaning, we can Conclude he knew what was she exactly talking about. He swallows at the WHAT'S BY IS BY, and blinks flustered. Someone knows his secret hahaahahaha
Also, Rowena deceiving the boys, is Asmodeus playing Cas...
DEAN: Oh, I’m gonna say it. She played you.
SAM: [defensively] She played us.
This is a foreshadow of Dean recognizing in front of Cas that Asmodeus played him and his brother, they should see that coming. Dean will feel guilty and will confess it to his angel.
Another little but interesting scene was Jamie and Jennie killing each other, just the ending Chuck will reveal he wants for Sam and Dean in season 15.
At the end of the episode, we'll see Rowena releasing herself from her chains. As a representation of Dean releasing himself from his inner prison.
To Conclude:
These two episode keep playing with symbolism and foreshadows of season 14.
The scene of Dean kissing Dean's mirror shows us the idea of Healing!Dean in season 14.
Sammy definitely knows Dean is in love with Cas, fight me.
Hope you like this meta, see you in the next one!

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. XCVIII
It was a love story from the very beginning.
The Mirror
(13x09/13x10)
Hi there!!! We are here today to talk about Mirrors. A very known Destiel mirror in the fandom: Claire and Kaia and and Patience as a switch mirror between Castiel and Jack.
The One that Walks between Worlds
Episode 13x09 starts with Jack and the Dream Walker.
That scene recalled me to Constantine movie scene in which Keanu put his feet in water and takes a cat, because he said Cats where a portal between this world and the after life dimension.
Well, Jack is the cat her, he's the portal between worlds and also, he's a resume of all of them himself: HELL/HEAVEN AND EARTH.He is Light and Dark (that's why Amara ended up being part of him).
We jump into the scene with Sam and Dean. Dean asks about Cas because we have Asmodeus calling them using Castiel's voice, they don't suspect nothing.
Then, Dean calls Patience, but the girl doesn't answer.
She's under his father's commands. Just like Castiel was with Heaven, but she's receiving Dean's calls, as Castiel did, and she will end up answering and rejecting his father plans for her.
Not Just we have a Castiel mirror here, but also Jack: because we will see him interacting with Lucifer in this season, listening to his plans for him. And Jack will end up following his heart, and rejecting all of those plans.
Visual Narrative
There's a quick scene when Sam and Dean parks Baby in front of a painted wall.
This was something that @gneisscastiel explains magnificently in this meta here.
The wall had this drawing...
Pic credit: @lets-steal-an-archive
Tumblr media
Berens delivered us an episode in which an artist (the Dream Walker) painted the different worlds he had dreamt. And now, we have this wall here, the writer wants us to pay attention to it: As it was described by @gneisscastiel, the blue wings represents Castiel, in front of the huge number of yellow birds (angel) as if they were being guided by the kid (Jack in blue) and Castiel back to Heaven. The Restoration of Heaven. Wich was what happened at the en of the show, and what I suspect, intended to be one of the main plots in season 15, that see the light properly, just in a few words said by Bobby to Dean in Heaven.
Playing with mirrors: Patience, Jack and Castiel
To continue with this game of switching mirrors, we hear Jack saying this to Sam and Dean:
Jack: You don't... I'm– I'm doing this for you.
If this is not. Cas mirror, I don't know then heheh.
It was the excuse Castiel gave to Dean on seasonn6 in their first break up. As if that could justify go into the dark side. Well, Jack won't go into the dark side in a way Castiel did turning into Godstiel, but he will be souless in season 14 Wich will be a huge problem.
There's another visual element with an image of Jesus Christ crucified, which always was a reference for Jack, as the Savior, the Messiah.
Another thing to point out is Dean in soldier mode, focused, just like Cas is about Jack. This is important because that's the idea Dean will express to Castiel in a future.
And back to Patience...
Patience: You raised me to do what's right, and this is what's right. If I don't go, people will die.
This could be taken the moment Cas decided to fall and how Jack will take his decisions, based on what his new family will teach him.
And then Kaia...
Kaia: I mean, you picked the wrong bait. I'm not the kind of girl folks come for. In this world, I don't even rank a milk carton. No one is gonna come for me. I'm not white, rich, blonde. No one's gonna fight for me. I don't matter.
This point of view full of sadness and depression, is related with Castiel in season 12. There's patrons in Kaia behaviors that reminds us to Castiel in season 12, where we had his death. And that's because Kaia will repeat Castiel's ending in the next episode.
Repeating the ending of season 12
Episode 13x10 starts with Claire hunting, but also Jody calling her by the phone saying this:
JODY (on the phone with CLAIRE)
They were on a hunting trip and I haven’t heard from them in a few days. It’s time to come home.
A recalling to episode 'Pilot'.
But let's focus in Kaia and Claire relationship:
At first it's a kind of enemies to friends trope, just like Dean and Castiel.
When they're talking about their scars, Kaia reaches out her finger to touch Claire's forehead. Just like Cas does when he heals Dean. But the symbolo of talking about their scars, is related to Destiel too. How one broken man with too many scars found love and comfort in a broken angel with his own scars too.
KAIA: You’re scared.
CLAIRE:
Yeah. Jody always said I’d get myself killed, hunting, and I’d be like, good. If I’m going to go out then that’s how I want to do it, doing something great. But Patience’s vision… It’s one thing thinking that you’re going to die but actually knowing it? For once a part of me kinda just wants to sit back and let Jody handle it, you know? Stay safe. But Sam and Dean saved my life and I can’t sit this one out.
KAIA: Then don’t. If you go, I’ll go with you. Maybe together we can save them.
Kaia talking about her own death is a blatant mirror of Dean and Kaia saying "I'll go with you" is Cas. As a demonstration of his devotion and incondicional love towards the hunter. And, of course, loyalty to the end.
Kaia supposed dead it's similar to Castiel's. With a rift to another world involved.
But also the trope: two lovers separated by a rift to two different dimensions, is just how Destiel ended up in 15x18.
To Conclude:
Wauwards Sisters had en entire episode and one prelude because the idea was to make a spin-off with their story which, sadly, never saw the light.
But the repetition of the Destiel tragedy with Kaia and Claire, giving them a very romantic atmosphere, and the Berens admitting that was written to be a Destiel mirror, is another evidence that Castiel dying and suffering as he suffered was because he's in love with Castiel.
Hope you like this meta, see you in the next one!

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. C
It was a love story from the very beginning.
Angelic Grace Kink
(13x13)
Hello my friends! I'm here again focusing this meta in just one episode, i will do the same in the next volume with episode 13x14.
We have a lot to talk about sexualization of angels, so, let's start!
The Cute Destiel Mirror
When the 'Devil's Bargain" starts, we have a very cute and blatant destiel mirror.
A girl on rollers with a light brown coat is loosing his equilibrium until a guy dressed in red rescues her and saves her from falling. The dialogue is corny but it's a Destiel reminder, immediately after the episode in which said he was in love.
Gif set credit @destielette
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Girl: I think I just fell for you.
Guy: I’d catch you anytime you fell.
This mirror is here to recall us Dean is in love with Castiel by choice.
The Mission Comes First
When Sam and Dean discover Cas was prisoner the whole time and they have been talking everyday with Asmodeus, Dean feels very stupid and bad.
What I could catch during their scene, was Sam's grimacing disgust at the mention of Lucifer.
CAS: Yes. And the archangel, Michael, again the Apocalypse World version, wants to use the spell to invade and conquer our world. That’s why I met with Lucifer.
DEAN: So...You met ... Cas, I specifically told you not to do anything stupid.
CAS: Well, he was weak and given the context of our imminent annihilation it didn’t seem stupid. Lucifer wanted to help fight Michael.
SAM: Oh yeah, Lucifer wanted to help, sure.
Dean's reaction is fear, because meeting Lucifer could be a bad end for the angel. Sam's reaction is totally rejection.
Then, we have a Dedtiel brief talk...
DEAN: (...) Cas, I’m sorry. All that time you were with Asmodeus, I should have known it wasn’t you.
Gif set credit @inacatastrophicmind
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CAS: No, he’s a shapeshifter. Besides, I was the one who got myself captured.
DEAN: Yeah, but if Sam and I knew you know we would have–
CAS: Yeah, I know you would have tried another long shot. I’m fine, Dean.
DEAN: You sure about that?
Dean is ashamed, Cas gets it immediately and tries to make him feel better about it.
CAS: Right now, all that matters is getting Jack and your mother out of that place. Kay? Look, I promised Kelly that I would protect her son. I intend to keep that promise.
This is the most important to Cas: The mission. He will put everything under it. What matters the most is the promise he made to Kelly. To protect Jack. That will end with his deal with the Empty that will end with his life in episode 15x18.
Second Meaning Jokes and the sexualization of angelic grace
The re-introdution of Gabe brings the sexuality and angels topic to the show.
The topic is here now to show us angels have sexual desire, and they can have a plenty sexual activity. How is this related to Castiel? First of all, because Cas is an angel, he is able to feel sexual desire (mostly, if we are talking Castiel's behavior applies more for the ace spectrum, this sexual desire is focused just on Dean.)
So, does Dean want to have sex with Cas? He definitely wants.
But, does Castiel want to have sex with Dean? This season and the next one will show us he does.
Before the ewww scene between Ansel and Lucifer, we had a second meaning 'joke' if we can call it like that...
CAS: Lucifer fed on this angel’s grace. Which means he’s trying to restore his power and if he does–
Gif set credit @impalaofgrace-blog
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DEAN: We’re boned.
CAS: Epically.
This is very suggestive, as if they were declaring the they they bone will be epics, and it sound like a joke. But after this, we will see how writers decide to sexualize the angelic grace, so this joke takes another meaning when it turns out as a possibility between Cas and Dean.
SISTER JO: It’s better than having you suck me dry and kill me, isn’t it? This way I help you, you help me. Still a businesswoman.
Before jumping into that topic, we have here a deal with an archangel. As a premonition of Dean and Michael agreement.
Then, the scene of Lucifer sucking Ansel's grace is ewww but it's here again to show us angel can be sexually related. We were witnessesnof the grace kink in Supernatural. We will see it again with Gabe.
Joined by the hips
After Dean realizes he almost lost Cas again, he will be glued at him the rest of the episode. We will see him joined by the hips to the angel in every take of the camera.
Tumblr media
Gif credit @inacatastrophicmind
I wanna say something else about Ketch, he definitely has something about angels, and mostly, Castiel. Despite people saying he was interested in Dean, i need to say he definitely felt attracted to Cas. But maybe that's just my point of view.
To Conclude:
This episode is a recalling of Dean and Castiel love. Also, is full of angel grace sexualization as a new concept: Angels can feel sexual desire.
Hope you like this meta, see you in the next one.
