To be Known is to be Loved
Tumblr media
Summary: It’s so easy to forget the little things. But Miguel loves you so he remembers. A/N: I’m on writers block so please forgive me for the lack of fics. I hope some fluff with suffice. Art: nellwhre17 on instagram No warnings, Fluffy
Tumblr media
You hated being on your feet all day. Your soles were sore, your toes scrunched together in your shoes and you were pretty sure your laces were cutting off your circulation. You wanted nothing more than to take everything off and lie in bed.
So, once you opened the door to your home, tossing the keys to the couch, you crouched down to shove your shoes off. You were too impatient to slip off your shoelaces, settling for a fight of just ripping your shoes off your feet. Once the pair had flopped away from you, you wiggled your toes and sighed in relief.
“Mig?” You call out, searching for your boyfriend’s comfort after a long day. Out of the corner of your eye, you spot your fuzzy slippers right beside the couch where you had thrown your keys. It wouldn’t have been unusual since you often left your slippers by the door before you leave for work, but you were in a hurry today–Miguel must’ve moved them for you.
With a tired smile, you wobble over to them and slide them on. Its warm softness were heaven on your sore feet and you heard the pats of Miguel’s heavy footsteps. You look up to see Miguel give you a soft smile.
“Hi.” He whispers, a dry towel in hand. By the smell coming off of it, it seemed it was freshly washed and dried. He looks off to the side and sees your shoes discarded in opposite directions. He makes the move to collect the pair and set it on the shoe rack neatly. Miguel looks down at you on the floor and hands the towel to you. “I already showered so here.”
You take the towel with a bright grin. You were already feeling better.
Tumblr media
When you had woken up from your nap, you instinctively crawl out of bed to search for Miguel. You found him in the living room, TV volume as low as possible with all the lights turned off. You could never sleep if even the smallest of light peeked in your room. Miguel’s jaw moved and his mouth opened to pop something in his mouth and you realized he was snacking on something.
You take a step forward on the wooden floor and it creaks, signaling your appearance. Miguel raises his eyebrows and turns his head to face you. He relaxes.
“Finally up?” He asks. The TV continues to play a random novela–something from the 2000s based on the camera quality.
“Yeah,” You croak out, voice hoarse from the long nap you took. Miguel pats the seat next to him and urges you closer with his hand. You follow his command, plopping beside him and instantly, you two fall in place. His hand around you protectively and your body smushed to his side.
Your eyes glance at the snack in his hand and you realize it’s actually candy. A rectangular packet of Starbursts. You look back up at Miguel, your vision seeing his side profile and you speak up, “Can I have some?”
Miguel takes his arm up and off you. He then takes the packet and rips it open and reveals the different colored cubes of flavor. He carefully plucks out the pink ones—sweet strawberry flavor—and places it in your outstretched palm. Then, he places the red ones—cherry flavored— with the pinks ones.
You smile to yourself, already unwrapping the candy and chewing on the taffy. You watch as Miguel keeps the yellows away from you, instead taking it upon himself to eat those.
He didn’t understand your need to be picky about the flavor and color, but usually you’d want it so he’d give it to you no questions asked. No reminders either.
Miguel settled his arm around you again, gnawing on the taffy and plucking the pieces that got stuck on his teeth. You snuggled back up to him happily, while you ate the strawberry and cherry Starburst.
Tumblr media
If there was anything you shamelessly loved to do, it was kissing Miguel. He didn’t mind at all. Despite his introverted nature, he couldn’t help but smile with each extra kiss you’d give him.
He was sure you never noticed this one thing about yourself. Maybe you did but he doesn’t think so. It was his favorite quirk of yours.
Sometimes, if he’s lucky, you’ll be so smitten when he initiates a kiss first that you’ll keep your eyes closed just to give him another chance to kiss you. A opportunity he's always willing to grab.
He liked pulling away and seeing you still, small smile playing on your lips and awaiting another smooch. And like a routine, he lifts your chin higher up and your lips quirk up higher. The tip of his thumb grazes your bottom lip and he leans down just enough to where your lips are brushing against each other. He watches your mouth twitch and your eyebrows scrunch when you could only barely feel him. Miguel finally leans down and kisses you again and he places a hand on your waist to feel you melt in his embrace.

i wasn’t quite able to finish my other halloween fic in time for the deadline, so i dragged out a carcar snippet and wrote a little bit for a tumblr fic! 1.5k words, guardian angel au @motorsport-halloween
The first place they steer him after a race is the guardian angels tent.
It’s small, made of slippy plastic tarping and held up by thin aluminum, cheap like everything in F3. Water slides off the top and pours down the sides in a clear curtain. Today, there are more guardians than usual: a dense cube of feathers packed together to avoid the worsening storm. Probably because everyone and their mother was sliding around the track just now. Perilously.
Oscar stands on his tiptoes from his spot under an awning, trying to profile the crowd before running out in the downpour. He’s seen his angel exactly one time before- when he’d gotten into a particularly nasty collision and had to retire from a race. He remembers dark wings, dark eyebrows, dark eyes. An accented voice not that much older than his own.
“That was stupid. Do not- like that, you shouldn’t. Be smarter.”
Oscar had just stood there, gaping. Hadn’t closed his mouth until his angel had sort of huffed and turned away, back to the tent. The sparkling rip in the atmosphere was starting to stitch itself up, by then, swirling plastic cones into it like a vacuum. Saved by the bell. It hadn’t been until after he’d left that Oscar realized what he’d really wanted to say was fuck off.
Now, Oscar watches the rest of the grid flock to the tent, skittering in under the rain and finding their angels. He watches them idly recount their race stories to various levels of enthusiasm, subject themselves to pat-downs and wellness checks and lectures as needed. There’s genuine affection in their touches, especially in those whose drivers lost control of their cars or locked up in the rain. Who maybe got a little bit closer to the edge. When he gets to F1, this part won’t be televised, but it’ll be more thorough and more often. Because he’ll be closer to the edge, every single race.
But Oscar was pretty damn close today and his angel isn’t here, so. Maybe not.
Halfway through the F2 season, Oscar decides he officially hates his angel.
Whenever he feels his tires start to slip, whenever he clips the barrier or botches a turn, the adrenaline that rises in his throat is partially because he thinks that maybe his angel will have felt it. That he’ll be waiting for him under the tent or in the cooldown room, this time, and his dark eyes will be filled with something other than cool indifference. Like, a shred of concern for Oscar’s life, maybe. But he’s not, and he never is, and Oscar kind of really hates him.
The next time he sees him is in a bland conference room with Mark, his legal squadron and the team principal of Alpine who’s name Oscar can never remember. His black hair catches the shitty fluorescent-looking light of his halo and Oscar almost walks right back out.
“What is this,” he whispers to Mark. It’s not a hiss. “Why is he here.”
“I have to be here. To make sure your life is not ruined,” his angel says, at full volume. Oscar dislikes him so much.
“You are so—“ Oscar starts and doesn’t finish, which is a tactic he uses when he’d like to say something rude but shouldn’t. “Wait.” He turns to Mark. “Is my life about to be ruined?”
Mark inhales, reaching for his manila folder. The Alpine people wince. His angel waggles his incredibly thick eyebrows.
Oscar doesn’t sign with Alpine. He gets a text from an unknown number that says “See you should listen to me yes?” and he thinks about doing something crazy like throwing his phone against the wall. Instead, he shoves it under his sweatshirt and lets it rest against his stomach. It goes up and down as he breathes.
The issue is that his angel doesn’t leave.
Apparently he has to stick around until the ink is dry on Oscar’s contract, now that he’s waded into this whole mess. He has a little phone-like thing, sleek and rectangular, that lights up every once in awhile with indecipherable notifications about the state of Oscar’s life, or whatever. Oscar is 99% he has it on whatever the all-seeing equivalent of “do not disturb” is. He’s the worst.
“What’s his name again?” Oscar asks, around a mouthful of eggs.
“Carlos,” Mark says.
“Carlos,” Oscar seethes.
“You’re gonna have to nut up, mate,” Mark says. He sounds tired. “It’s standard procedure.”
Oscar wants to ask if it’s standard procedure to be concussed and have the doctors at the track refuse to take you to A&E without guardian angel signoff, and for that signoff to never arrive because your angel can’t be fucked, but he doesn’t.
Carlos is never around unless it’s to steer Oscar away from people and look smug. After the seventieth awkward handshake with the shadow of Carlos looming over his shoulder like an overgrown, disapproving hawk, he pulls him into a corner.
“Can you just tell me what I’m meant to do?”
“What do you mean,” Carlos says. It would have sounded sarcastic, if he hadn’t physically flopped his head to the side as he said it. Something evil settles around Oscar’s heart.
“My fate. My destiny, God’s plan, whatever the fuck, I just—I can do it myself. Please.” It comes out a little bit more desperate than he intends, but still north of begging, so he chalks it up as a point.
“No, I cannot,” Carlos says. “This is my job. Sorry,” he adds, because Oscar has the heels of his hands pressed over his eyes.
“Okay, so what if I—I dunno, disobey you?”
“Then you are making a big mistake,” Carlos says, so solemnly. His wings twitch a little bit, rising and flexing through his shoulder blades. Oscar swallows.
“You can’t stop me.”
“I can. This is my job,” Carlos repeats. His wings flare even further. The tips of the darker feathers almost block out the light, closing Oscar into the corner.
“I’ll sign with Alpine,” Oscar challenges. He doesn’t really want to do that, but there’s some kind of rabbity panic jumping around in his chest and making him stupid. “I could. They want me.”
“They don’t.” Carlos’ eyes are blazing the same neon as his halo. He could be seeing all possible futures right now, for all Oscar knows, and yet he still sounds like a moody toddler, shooting down everything Oscar says.
“I’ll show you the contract, mate, they definitely do.” Oscar is no better than him, apparently.
Except maybe he is, because Carlos steps forward until they’re practically chest-to-chest. All Oscar can see in his periphery are reflections of halo-light and Carlos’ heaving chest, his aquiline nose. “You don’t even—“
Somewhere, an alarm starts going off.
Carlos says something in Spanish, short and sharp. His eyes are wide. He fishes his angel-phone-thing out of his jeans. It’s angry red, flashing and beeping and buzzing all at once. An instinctive panic rockets through Oscar, far away from the warm anticipatory one from a few seconds ago.
“Isn’t that,” Oscar says. Clears his throat. “Um, is that bad?”
“Shit,” Carlos says in English. He does something weird, after that: like his whole body flickering, disappearing for a few milliseconds and then popping back in. “Shit. Oscar. We just—you just made a mistake.”
His accent makes it sound more deliberate. Mees-tek. “What? No, I didn’t.”
You’re not supposed to, like, try to kill your angel, but if Carlos thinks that’s what just happened then he’s even more delusional that Oscar had thought. Actually, it had been sort of exactly the opposite. Carlos had been so close, it was like—Oscar was worried he might—forget himself, or something. Try to do something crazy. Like grab Carlos’ hair and shove his head down and feel his nose against his throat.
Carlos shows him his phone screen. The text, in some archaic angel language, unscrambles before Oscar’s eyes. IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION REQUIRED, it says, scrolling across the top. Then, in bolded lettering in the middle: This message is for CARLOS SAINZ regarding OSCAR PIASTRI. Oscar’s eyes skip around the paragraph, can’t quite take any of it in. They’re not going to let Carlos leave. The angel system—fate, destiny, whatever—registered a god-tier fuckup on Oscar’s part, and they won’t let Carlos leave until he fixes it.
“What did you do?” Carlos asks, his voice annoyingly even as his phone wails and shakes in his hand. “Oscar, what did you do? Did you really sign with Alpine? You take it back and I will be gone, I promise.”
Oscar wants to say it’s just as much Carlos’ fault as it is his, but he can’t quite get the words out around the sudden, vicious longing to have Carlos squared up against him again, ready to fight, so he can watch it all drain out of him. He wants to take him apart, enact his revenge, put him back together again better and more tolerable than he was before.
MISTAKE, Carlos’ angel-cell cries. MISTAKE.

whats your favourite movie
whats your favourite way to eat popcorn
do you prefer fluff or angst
if the volume of a rectangular prism is represented by V = 2x³ + 14x² + 24x what are the expressions for possible dimensions of the cube
I dont watch movies that often, but I really like classic animated movies like hunchback of Notre dame and Anastasia. Gibli movies are also good ponyo is the first movie i ever remember watching.
I really like my popcorn heavily salted and buttered, like it came from a movie theater.
Fluff. Always i love seeing the sillay blorbos in sillay situations. Angst is good tho

SWORDTEMBER '24, DAY 5: PUZZLE
Item ID: 3H-2405 Item Name: Wooden Block Puzzle Category: B-8 Origin Point: Moi’tre, Central Spiral Owner: Arkhanthos Kiiderleague (C) Description: Initially appears to be a rectangular prism consisting of smaller wooden cubes, alternating between light and dark coloration. Samples came back inconclusive, but pattern recognition software determined that the material is most likely intended to mimic two types of Earthen wood, specifically walnut and ash. The blocks are roughly 3cm squared, and the overall prism is 4 x 6 x 3 blocks. It’s unclear what holds the segments together. Little force is necessary to separate the full construct into several smaller chunks, but what is most notable is the fact that, when left alone for more than five minutes, the segments will automatically reform the initial prism. This also occurs if one attempts to give direct instructions to another on how to solve the puzzle, at which point the structure locks up and cannot be shifted for an hour. Currently there are 4 known “configurations” possible, accomplished by intentional rearranging of the blocks, as well as shifting and folding hidden joints within individual blocks. Three of these configurations (longsword, crossbow, and shotgun) were discovered by employee C-Delabaunte (ID: ■■■■■■), while the fourth (kukri) was the form the item was originally found in. Although the owner agreed to cooperate with the FPA, they claimed not to know how many different configurations are possible, and could not elaborate on the item’s exact origins. As such, the item is to be considered exceptionally dangerous, in relation to the puzzle-solving capabilities of whoever wields it. Further notes regarding the configuration: Although the item is encased in a wooden exterior, there are metal components hidden within the shell. These automatically extend upon the blocks being arranged in a successful configuration. It is unclear how the process works, particularly due to the metal mass seemingly exceeding the volume of the wood itself. Cataloger’s Notes: Pretty sure the chief decided to put it in his office for “safekeeping”, which means he heard how cool it is and wanted to play with it. Normally with an item of this category I’d be concerned, but quite frankly I don’t expect the man to be able to solve any of the configuration puzzles. Chances are it’ll be a paperweight by the end of the week.
-----
“Any chance you’re a genius with puzzles, Naomi?” Cynthia asks, a furrow to her brow as she works overtime on her latest curiosity. Tonight was supposed to be her third date with Naomi, until the chief gave her no choice but to stay late, in the hopes she’d discover something fun for him to keep in his office. At least she was able to talk to her girlfriend while she works.
“Puzzles?... Hmm, does it count if my family name is an answer in a lot of crossword puzzles?” Naomi answers, after a long pause, a smile clear in her tone. As amused as she is by her own joke, she doesn’t laugh until Cynthia does. Neither of them speak again for a few moments, resting in the warmth of shared company, before the subtle clink of wood brings her back into the moment. Right, she’s technically working right now. “Sorry, I really wish I could be more helpful. I know you’d much rather be enjoying a nice glass of sake and some nice food… which I can definitely have waiting for you, if you don’t mind coming over late?”
Plenty of hope in her tone, a hint of pleading. A screw your boss hidden between the lines, we both know you’ve already done more than expected of you. Another pause between them, and Naomi holds her breath.
“... Let me finish this configuration first, and we have a deal. I think this one might be a crossbow,” Cynthia answers, cherishing the feeling of butterflies in her stomach. Part of her tenses, briefly, hoping that Naomi won’t be offended at the prospect of waiting a little longer. Relief blooms quickly as she gets a request to swap the phone call for a video chat. She accepts immediately, grinning wide at the image that appears. In turn, Naomi’s smile grows, her eyes glancing at the katana proudly displayed behind Cynthia’s desk.
Guess she figured out the paperwork after all.
“Well, I may not be any good at solving puzzles, but I’ll gladly keep you company while you finish up. Maybe you can lend me your input on tonight’s menu while you’re here, too,” Naomi suggests, stepping back from the camera to show off her large kitchen. From there the duo start their respective tasks, the conversation occasionally slowing but never dying, flowing as naturally as they could have ever hoped.
In the end, they fit together just as neatly as the wooden blocks that formed a crossbow in her hands.

As a repeated jellybean counting contest winner, I wanted to share with you all my secret so that you can win prizes too this holiday season.
As a young child and adult, I have used this method and won each time. You can guess the volume in this odd unit using these steps.
Identify the shape of the jar. Is it a cube, rectangular prism or a cylinder?
What I'm describing below is for a cylinder, the most common jar shape.
First, obtain RADIUS: If you are allowed to touch and pick up the jellybean jar, you can count jellybeans in a straight line across the bottom of the jar. If you are disallowed from touching the container, just count across the the top in a straight line. The full line across of this circle is known as the diameter. Half the line across is known as the radius. You can count all the way across and then divide in half. You may be cutting the jellybean in half and get a decimal when you do this. No problem.
Second, count your HEIGHT: This is the easy step. You just count the front face of the container. Count jellybeans in a straight line up the side of the jar. This is your height.
Plug and calculate: For a cylinder jar, your volume can be found by calculating 3.14 x RADIUS² x HEIGHT.
So multiply your radius first since PEMDAS tells us the exponent needs dealt with first. Squaring a number is just that number multiplied by itself. After you have that, multiply by pi and by the jellybean height.
The answer you get could be a fraction or decimal. More than likely, the person who put the jellybeans in the jar did not include halved beans. So round up your number if it ends in .5 or higher. And round down to the nearest whole number if it ends in .4 or lower.
**If you have a complex jar shape, mentally cut the jar where the shapes change! Then calculate using the different volume formulas.
I hope this helps someone win a gift card or impress someone at a Christmas party!

im literally going insane im frothing at the mouth. its ball anon again and im thinking about WHY ITERATORS LOOK LIKE THAT ON THE OUTSIDE!!!
like. just staring at the two images provided on the miraheze wiki on the iterator page righneow. BRO HAS THE TEXTURE OF A motherboard. literally what are all those knick knacks and doohickeys for,,,,,
looks like : places where piping would be underneath or cables, squares [maybe memory arrays since those are cube shaped, atleast the 8 stacked to the left of the structure in images look like theyd be where the memory arrays gang out], balls, which i ranted about previously, BUT THERE ARE OTHER BALLS. do they have a differnet purpose? do they serve the same purpose? are they the same balls?
(i should start calling them spheres i sincerely apologise)
there are what look to be vents(maybe to pump out vapour), smooth rectangular big thing with a slit you'd probaby put a dvd in, SO MANT TEXTURES THINGS AUUGHGGHJG
im going.crazy im so sorry if you want me to rant elsewhere tell me and i will happily oblige
Spheres are the shape with the most volume and least surface area, naturally they are useful for many purposes.
The Ancients wanted to make us more visually appealing, but our scale meant that it would require too many costly materials that almost nobody would pay. All of our parts serve a purpose, or at least did long ago.

Gelatinous Cube in a Dungeon
Another attempt at starting a quick project series where the second entry immediately got well out of hand, though it did produce an element that I’m quite happy with, so I’ll post that later.
Tumblr media
This first piece is an exercise to try and get my head around Blender’s Geometry Nodes system, at least a little bit. Here I’ve been following two main tutorials, one for distributing air bubbles inside a volume, and one for creating a brick wall on a curve; there was also another video that helped with erasing bubbles that escaped from cube, but for the life of me I can’t find that one again.
Edit -- Breakdown of Blender process and links to relevant tutorials now below the fold, now I know I can add a fold.
The Gelatinous Cube
The gelatinous cube’s mesh is just a cube primitive that’s been gently subdivided and rounded off, and then pinched in around the middle a little so it looks like it’s squishing down toward the floor.
Its surface shader is just a couple of noise textures, fed into a Voronoi texture, then fed into a Musgrave texture, which is then fed through a whole bunch of colour ramps into the Principled BSDF shader’s various inputs to make something glistening, organic, and unpleasant looking.
The same Musgrave is colour multiplied with a couple of different quadratic sphere gradients to feed into the density and emission strength channels of a Principled Volume shader, to give the impression of a thick, viscous, turbulent interior and a glow nucleus. (I know gelatinous cubes are supposed to be completely translucent, but that’s not as visually interesting.)
The main bubble distribution is adapted from this tutorial video by Via Crescendo,
youtube
but I’ve also used the newer than that tutorial “Distribute points in Volume” node to create some more randomly placed bubbles, using a node group from the third tutorial (the one that I can’t find again) that does some maths I don’t understand to erase any instances that leave the bounds of the geometry.
Tumblr media
The Dungeon Walls and Floor
The dungeon floor (and ceiling) are by far the simplest things here, they’re just a single tile model that’s been distributed on a grid with the Z position set to randomly jiggle a bit so it looks old and tumbledown.
The walls are more complicated, I’m mostly following a tutorial for generating a brick wall along a curve by Joey Carlino,
youtube
that I’ve modified to instance from a collection of square bricks instead of a single rectangular brick and this random instancing is where the limits of my understanding are reached, as something this node system does means that points get instanced on in pairs which are sometimes adjacent, and sometimes not… This has led to my three ‘detail’ bricks being more clustered in their distribution that I’d like, but the effect this there at least.
Tumblr media
Brick variants wise, going from right-to-left there is, the standard brick which has a heavily worn stone material, a brick with an inset corroded copper mirror, a brick with an inset panel of ‘hieroglyphs’ that have been worn away, and a hollow brick with a glowing gem surrounded by corroded copper mirrors (because the ‘unexplored dungeon lit by burning torches’ trope bothers me).

[Headcanon Meme] | always accepting
🟣 - what is your muse’s favorite color? What does this say about them?
One of Khan's favorite colors is black - especially when it comes to clothing items and accessoires. It might be a remnant of his upbringing; He's always worn black and got comfortable with it, despite it being a part of his difficult past, yet he mostly just thinks that black looks cool on him and works best with how he perceives himself. Besides black, however, he also enjoys other (dark) colors on him - mostly dark gray or dark blue shades. That being said, he has other 'favorite colors' he simply likes to take in the sight of - like the evening sky with its purples, oranges and reds, or the bright blue sky during a sunny day.
🍕- what is your muse’s favorite junk food?
Ever since coming to earth, Khan hasn't really been allowed to explore his surroundings too much - yet, because of a certain someone wanting to keep him alive and healthy, he was offered a wide array of foods, simply to try and figure out which would suit his needs and serve his body best. Yes, junk food was part of the selction; It was never offered to him from a 'real' fast food place, however, but Section 31's own canteen - regularly serving whoever worked there - did a rather good job in preparing most kinds of dishes. Khan ended up enjoying Pizza a lot; His favorite is the 'classic' one with pepperoni topping and cheese.
⛰️ - would your muse live in a remote location? If so, where?
Absolutely. With everything he's experienced in his life so far, he'd seek out a place that's a bit further away and surrounded by peace - perhaps somewhere within nature, close to a body of water where he could sit and just stare at the surface rippling away in the evening sky. It doesn't need to be earth, though - he's happy to be literally anywhere, any planet, as long as the air is breathable and the enviroment able to sustain life.
🛁 - does your muse prefer a bath or shower? ( vega will join him in either i mean what )
Khan usually takes showers, simply because taking a shower is quick and efficient. However, he's certainly not one to turn down a nice bath, especially when his body hurts and feels sore all over; He's only taken baths a few times in his life, and most of them after having suffered before (both physically and mentally) - but that's precisely why he's been enjoying them, as the hot water eases pain and helps relax his muscles. Vega is absolutely allowed to join him in both the shower or the bathtub - as both locations can be used for a lot of different purposes, after all... ;).
🏹 - does your muse have any cool hobbies or special skills?
He can solve a rubic's cube in a couple of seconds (lol). On a serious note - Khan doesn't really sing, but if he were to, he'd be a great singer. Due to his increased lung volume and the low tone of his voice, it sounds deep and full when he sings - especially since he's got an easy time striking the right note for whatever song he sings, and he's quick to take in lyrics and remember those effortlessly. Other than that, the only 'real' experience he has with hobbies / skills is that one single game he's been allowed to play back at his home planet - an incredibly difficult strategy game, meant to sharpen soldier's minds and prepare them for their education. His kin often plays those games in groups, especially while spending their (almost nonexistent) spare-time, as it is one of the rare things that allows them to have some fun and socialise with each other. The game is entirely randomized and based on both math and pure chance alone; A hologram of a rectangular prism constructed by cubes, lines, numbers and letters, the players have to defeat the computer-based antagonist acting against them by solving (and constructing) complex (alien)mathematical-experimental equations while also being forced to make quick decisions that leave them no time to think of a strategy. Many of those chance-based, randomized sessions cannot even be won by a living being, which is part of the experience. Yet, despite the fact that Khan always struggled with keeping up, having had to retake tests, being classified as 'below average' amongst his own species, he'd actually, surprisingly so, been known as one of the best players of that game.

Terrine of poultry with pistachios and bacon
Give it a try at least once, and you will fall in love with this recipe! You can change the meat in it according to your taste, and in any case, the treat will be suitable for both weekdays and holidays.
Ingredients:
For a rectangular mold with a volume of 1.3 liters
600g turkey thigh (chicken or pork thigh)
400g chicken fillet
150g chicken liver
100-150g bacon
70g onion (1 head)
30g butter
110g cream 33%
1 egg
13g salt
2g pepper
Additionally (optional):
150-200g spinach
20g butter (for spinach)
100g sun-dried tomatoes
50g pistachios
Recipe:
1. Cut the chicken and turkey meat into small cubes, the liver into medium pieces, and finely chop the onion. In a pan with butter, sauté the onion until translucent, then add the liver. Sauté together until the liver is cooked.
2. Sort the spinach, leaving only the leaves, and chop or tear them by hand. Sauté in butter until soft (do not fry). Peel and dry the pistachios on a pan or in the oven. Cut the tomatoes.
3. In a mixer bowl, place the diced chicken and turkey, mix with the "paddle" attachment. Add the egg, cream, salt, pepper, liver with onion, spinach, tomatoes, and pistachios, mix thoroughly.
4. Line the baking dish with parchment paper or grease with butter, lay bacon strips overlapping (the bacon should cover the bottom and sides of the mold). Spread the mixture, press it down, and cover with bacon strips on top.
5. Place the mold in a cold oven, set the temperature to 160°C and cook for about 1 hour and 20 minutes. If you have a meat thermometer, check the temperature inside the terrine after an hour; it should be at least 70°C. Let the terrine cool. Cover the mold with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for a day.
6. If you couldn't find 33% cream,
7. don't worry, less fatty (20%) cream will also work.

How Event Cocktail Tables Stir Up Event Magic
When we think of event decor, cocktail tables might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but they play a pivotal role in the social alchemy of any gathering. Event planning isn't just about logistics and scheduling; it's an art form that, when done right, can elevate the attendee experience from mundane to magical. And one essential element that we often underestimate in its contribution to the overall atmosphere is the humble cocktail table.
In this comprehensive guide, we'll dive into the nuances of why cocktail tables matter and how the right choice can transform a space, enhance interactions, and bring a brand's ethos to life. Event planners, this is your go-to resource for unlocking the potential of event cocktail tables.
The Multi-Faceted Role of Cocktail Tables in Events
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of selection and design, it's crucial to understand the multiple hats that a cocktail table wears in the event realm. These seemingly innocuous fixtures are where the magic happens — conversations blossom, deals are made, and memories are created. They act as the unassuming support system for announcements, displays, and, of course, glasses of celebration.
In a standing-room-only setting, cocktail tables become the literal and metaphorical anchor points for guests. They provide a sense of place for resting beverages, jotting down notes, and, importantly, offer respite for weary feet. Whether it's an intimate corporate mixer or a bustling gala, cocktail tables are indispensable touchpoints for maintaining comfort and order.
Aesthetics of Cocktail Tables
Event theme and branding dictate the aesthetic direction that event planners take, and cocktail tables are no exception. These tables can be powerful storytellers; they speak volumes about the ambiance the event intends to create.
From classic round mahogany tables that evoke a sense of heritage and luxury to sleek, modern cubes that scream contemporary chic, the design options are as varied as the events they serve. Sometimes, the most effective designs are the ones that seamlessly blend into the background, allowing the focus to remain on guests and the event's central elements.
For opulent soirees, consider ornately decorated tables with rich fabrics and floral centerpieces. At high-energy networking events, choose clean lines and minimalist designs that encourage flow and movement. Each element of the decor, including cocktail tables, should be a harmonious note in the symphony of the event's visual story.
The Practical Side of Cocktail Table Selection
The form must follow function when selecting cocktail tables for an event, and practicality reigns supreme. Here are a few key points to consider:
Space Management: How many tables can fit comfortably in the event space without crowding or blocking pathways?
Size Matters: Opt for a variety of table sizes to accommodate different group sizes and activities.
Material and Durability: Depending on the nature of the event, you may need tables that can withstand outdoor conditions or that are easy to clean and maintain in high-traffic areas.
Guest Interaction: The design of the table should facilitate easy conversation and networking. Round tables tend to be more conducive to socializing, while long, rectangular tables channel a focus towards presentations and exhibits.
Lenox Hill Florist's Signature Tables
Lenox Hill Florist is a pioneer in creating bespoke floral arrangements and event decor. Their range of cocktail tables stands out for their craftsmanship, versatility, and the ability to seamlessly integrate with a wide range of event themes. With options from classic to avant-garde, and a commitment to using sustainable materials, the tables from Lenox Hill Florist not only look good but also feel good to the environmentally conscious event planner.
Strategic Positioning for Impact
Cocktail tables don't just sit in a corner; they're strategically positioned to guide the flow and mood of the event. Placing groups of tables in concentric circles can encourage mingling, while lining them up along the perimeter creates a clear pathway for movement and easy access to the bar or buffet area.
Experiment with patterns and groupings to enhance the dynamic of your event space. Clustering tables in small pods can create intimate gathering spots, while placing them in a checkerboard pattern can lend a sense of organization and playfulness.
Event Success Stories
Charity Gala under the Stars
For a breathtaking alfresco gala, candle-lit custom baskets hung from the cocktail tables, casting intricate patterns of light on the guests below. The tables, designed by Lenox Hill Florist, featured organic, weather-resistant materials that resonated with the event's nature-inspired theme, underlining the charity's commitment to sustainability.
Corporate Product Launch

The testing stations were particularly popular, becoming the focal point for engaging with the brand's latest innovation.
Stirring the Senses with Thoughtful Table Curation
Cocktail tables, when chosen and arranged with intent, can be much more than just functional furniture. They are the supporting actors that can elevate the entire theater of your event. Whether you opt for ornate and decadent or futuristic and sleek, the key to their success lies in their seamless integration with the event's purpose and theme.
Event planners hold the brush to this canvas, and with each event, have the opportunity to create a unique masterpiece. Start your design process by considering Lenox Hill Florist's innovative cocktail table range and see how the right furniture can transform your event into an unforgettable experience.
Now, it's over to you. How will you harness the potential of cocktail tables at your next event? Remember, the devil is in the details, and with the right cocktail tables, even the smallest touch can make the most significant impact.

5 Innovative Uses of Stainless Steel Square Pipe in Modern Architecture
Architects use stainless steel square and rectangular pipes to create modern designs in civic and commercial spaces. These pipes have a unique aesthetic and add a geometrical dimension to the overall style. We will look at five innovative applications that use durable stainless steel square/rectangular pipes.
Stainless Steel Square Pipes have transparent, open visibility and can support heavy weight. They can withstand decades of heavy foot traffic in high-volume public areas. They also allow for occasional makeovers without needing to rebuild everything. Playing with angular lines and well-lit stainless rectangular tubing can inspire new possibilities. It offers a proportional and serene look, unlike traditional steel I-beams. This can ignite creative ideas.

Multi-Story Glass Railing Infills
Use sturdy Stainless Steel Square Pipe frames to create attractive glass pane railing insets for open atrium walkways or staircase paths. Ensure secure installation stability while making the frames practically invisible. Stainless rectangular pipes are better than wood sections because they don't warp over time. They stay aligned and look clean even after many years of use. They also don't sag like wood.
Glass panes are bonded with silicone adhesive. They fit tightly into right-angled grooves. This keeps balcony views unobstructed. Metal supports are not used, so the views remain aesthetically pleasing. Framed transparency enhances depth perceptions in buildings every day.

Minimalist Outdoor Filigree Accents
Modernist landscapes incorporate delicate metalwork details like pruned tree silhouettes or abstract shapes. These are made with durable Stainless Steel Rectangular Pipes that are fastened together. These metal accents beautifully contrast with the natural forms in the landscape. Vertical pipes are anchored into pavement or small concrete foundations. They can withstand extreme weathering for many years without corrosion. This helps to prevent premature damage and ensures a longer lifespan. The focal points gleam uniquely. Sunlight dances throughout the afternoons, highlighting the artistic stainless steel craftsmanship. It excels outdoors and is resilient.
Sculptural Sales Display Framework
We use modular display case cubes and broad shelving units to showcase high-end retail merchandise. These units have rectilinear tubing frames that make the goods appear floating inside. They don't have obstructive sidewalls, so accessing the items is easy. Polished Stainless Steel Square Pipe are strong and meet commercial load-bearing codes. They are suitable for heavy stocking densities.
The modern metallic sheen styling looks bright and techy. Consumers like this style because it reminds them of high-performance sporting goods, electronics, and luxury vehicles. This helps to create emotional connections and close sales faster. Distinctive displays can reinforce branding in a sleek manner.
Geometric Company Signage Structures
Create visually appealing corporate logos or brand messaging by mounting them onto exterior architectural piping superstructures. These superstructures are from high-quality stainless steel rectangular pipes that are welded with precision.
Focal signage is placed at building entrances or in vehicle drop-off areas. LED light strips behind the signage create a glowing effect at night. You can add kinetic mechanisms to rotate sections slowly. This will create mesmerizing effects and attract attention on nighttime streets. It will be unforgettable.
Cabled Pedestrian Bridges and Walkways
Imagine walkway bridges traditionally made of concrete, wood, or painted steel. Now, picture these bridges re-imagined with hybrid cable and Stainless Steel Rectangular Pipe tube designs. These new designs give the bridges a graceful and suspended movement, making them feel lightweight and floating. This creates a dramatic contrast against the natural surroundings below the bridges, enhancing the beauty of the landscapes they cross.
The Stainless Steel Square Pipe tube is strong and can withstand heavy foot traffic vibrations for many years. Stretch tensioned cables between tower pylons. Anchor securely at far ends. Deliver beautiful, dynamic architecture forms. Cities admire overlooking riversides or scenic habitats. Connect foot traffic across development zones. Preserve fragile terrain underneath unharmed.
Choose Steel Pipe Online for your next stainless steel square/rectangular pipe project. We deliver with excellence!
