I was thinking of something while writing a W.I.T.C.H. story earlier. Principal Knickerbocker.
She went to school with the former guardians in canon (comics mentioned it I believe) right? So you're telling me she saw the group of five close friends who often ran off or got into mischief together and seemed so close while in school herself. She saw as one friend died, one vanish off the face of the earth at the same time, and the other three drift apart.
And then decades later she's a principal at the school and she sees a new student come in and make friends and she suddenly sees a group of five girls who are close friends and run off or get into mischief together?
You're telling me this woman lived through two generations of Guardians and was nearby enough to know them and she didn't see the similarities? Didn't get flashbacks of C.H.Y.K.N. before everything fell apart while looking at W.I.T.C.H.?

W.I.T.C.H - The Typhon Saga
Prologue - A year has passed since the battle with Nerissa. With the worlds of Earth, Meridian, Kandrakar, and Zamballa saved from Nerissa's conquer. The Council of Congregation throws an upcoming ceremony a year prior to the events to honor the Guardians and their allies. However, the story does not even here, deep in the roots of Meridian, a new threat has occurred. The Demon Lord Typhon has been born and now searching for dark energy to increase his power level. W.I.T.C.H., Caleb, Elyon, and the Regents of Earth work together to stop this demonic monstrosity.
ACT 1 - The Ceremony
It's another school year at Sheffield Institute where Will Vandom, Irma Lair, Taranee Cook, Cornelia Hale, and Hay Lin begin another school year.
Irma: Ugh, another school year, the same thing every year. I wish the summer didn't end so soon.
Taranee: Actually, I'm glad to be back here. How I missed Sheffield.
Irma: I'm not surprise, Tara.
Will: C'mon Irma, this year should be good. You know there's a new computer class that just opened this year, speaking of the new computer class, it's my first class of the day.
Cornelia: Right on! Me too, Will!
Taranee: Same here, Hay Lin.
Hay Lin: I have that class for the last class of the day.
Irma: I guess you girls are right. Oh no! It's Martin!
Martin: Hi Sweet Muffin!
Cornelia: Hahaha, sweet muffin.
Taranee: Martin just comes up with a new nickname every year for you, huh Irma?
Irma: Ugh can we go now?
Will: Irma is right. We should get going before Ms. Knickerbocker shows up.
Ms. Knickerbocker: I hope you girls better not be late to class, especially you, Ms. Vandom.
Will: Yes Ms. Knickerbocker.
Ms. Knickerbocker: Good now, get to class girls.
Will: Ugh, she never leaves me alone! I'll see you girls later. Let's go Cornelia.
Later that day, with the final bell ringing. The girls meet up at the main entrance.
Hay Lin: Hey Girls, my Grandma just texted me, and she's just told me that tomorrow is the incoming ceremony in Kandrakar.
Taranee: Oh yeah, it's been like over a year since we stopped Nerissa from conquering the veil.
Will: Yeah, time does fly.
Cornelia: We should like go shopping and look good for the ceremony!
Irma: Sorry to break it, Corny, but you know it's in Kandrakar, right? We'll eventually be in our Guardian Forms.
Cornelia: Oh yeah. Thanks a lot Irma.
Irma: Anytime Corny.
Hay Lin: I wonder who's going to be there besides us, the Council of Congregation?
Will: Well, there's Caleb, Elyon, even Matt and the Regents of Earth.
Hay Lin: By the way, Will, I always wanted to ask, but how do you feel now that Matt is the leader of the Regents of Earth with Mr. Huggles and Napoleon?
Will: Well, it's kind of weird, but I'm glad Matt is on our side. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have defeated Nerissa.
Taranee: You're right on that Will.
Will: Exactly. But honestly, I'm so looking forward to the ceremony. Well I must get going, I'll see you girls tomorrow.
The next day, the day of the ceremony arrived. At the Silver Dragon basement, with everyone waiting for Will's arrival.
Will: Hey, everyone. Sorry I'm late.
Cornelia: Ugh, we havee been like so ready for the ceremony.
Caleb: Cornelia, just let it go. As long as she here.
Cornelia: Yea, your right Caleb.
Matt: I'm glad you're here. Are you ready for the ceremony?
Will: I so am ready.
Yan Lin: Alright, everyone, I'll guide you all to Kandrakar, Blunk may you do the honors?
Blunk: Blunk, yes. Blunk open rift to Kandrakar.
Blunk opens a rift to Kandrakar. Yan Lin enters the portal. Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, Hay Lin, Caleb, Blunk, Elyon, Matt, Huggles, and Napoleon all enter the portal.
W.I.T.C.H. and their allies guided by Yan Lin thru the main walkway to Kandrakar.
Matt: Wow, this is Kandrakar? This place is absolutely stunning, just like you.
Will: Oh Matt, you're so sweet.
Irma: Ugh get a room you two!
Cornelia punches Irma.
Cornelia: Irma!
Irma: Ugh I was just being sarcastic.
Yan Lin: We are almost there, everyone.
Elyon: Do you guys hear that? I hear people
Hay Lin: Yea me too!
Elyon: Oh this is so exciting!
Yan Lin: Here we are everyone. The entrance to the ceremony.
The doors of the ceremony slowly open, and a bright light shines inside. Thousands of people from Meridian cheering for W.I.T.C.H. and their allies as they walk towards the stage where the Council of Congregation are waiting for them.
Cornelia: Wow, Elyon, you seem to enjoy this.
Elyon: Of course! I have to wave to my people! I'm loving this!
Thomas: <Whistling> That's my girl right there!
Eleanor: We're proud of you Elyon!
Irma: Wow, I never been cheered by so many people in one place.
Hay Lin: This ceremony is totally awesome!
W.I.T.C.H. and their allies stand tall on the stage. The Oracle stands up and greets everyone to the ceremony.
Oracle: Hello everyone, and welcome to the Kandrakar Ceremony. We are here to honor our heroes who have fought so hard to save the Veil from the forces of evil. Luba, please rise and begin handing out the medal to our first recipient.
Luba: Thank you, Oracle. To our first reciptient, the leader of the Meridian Rebellion, Caleb. You were chosen to lead the Rebellion against Phobos and his army. Not only did you succeed at your mission, but you also assisted the guardians against Nerissa's Reign of Terror. So I Luba award you the Platinum Medal for your bravery. Your father would be proud of you. Thank you Rebel Leader.
Caleb is looking at his father, Julian. He gives a proud face to Caleb. The crowd cheers for Caleb on being awarded the Platinum Medal.
Luba: Now the next recipients, the Regents of Earth. Matt and Mr. Huggles, you two were once under Nerissa's spell, have broken it and turned against her, and aided the Guardians in their battles. Plus, with the Heart of Earth now gaining full control of your powers. You three have fought for the good and saved both Meridian and Kandrakar. I Luba award you three the Ruby Medal. Thank you for fighting on what's right.
The Crowd cheers on the Regents of Earth for being awarded the Ruby Medal. Matt looks at Will and gives her a wink. Will looks at Matt proudly and sheds a tear.
Luba: Halinor, please rise up and announce the next set of recipients.
Halinor: Thank you, Luba. For the next recipient, Queen Elyon. You have helped both the Rebellion and the Guardians save the worlds of Earth and Meridian, also defeating Phobos and protecting Meridian against evil. To thank you for your efforts, I Halinor award you the Sapphire Medal. Your people should be proud of having a strong queen on protecting their world.
The Crowd cheers heavily for Elyon on receiving the Sapphire Medal.
Halinor: To the next recipient, to the passling by the name of Blunk, you may not be a warrior, but you have aided the Rebellion, the Guardians and Queen Elyon on knowing your enemies plan and never thought a Passling would become a hero. I Halinor reward you the Emerald Medal.
Blunk: Ah Blunk never been rewarded. Blunk very grateful!
The Crowd cheers for Blunk on being awarded the Emerald Medal.
Blunk's Mother: Momma proud of Blunky.
Halinor: Oracle, please rise and hand out the final set of medals to our final recipients.
Oracle: Thank you, Halinor. Now our final recipients. The Guardians that call themselves W.I.T.C.H. You 5 young ladies were selected to become the Guardians of the Veil. You have saved so many lives and made some sacrifices. I am truly proud of you, ladies. You had made me proud. To show my appreciation, I the Oracle award Will Vandom, Irma Lair, Taranee Cook, Cornelia Hale, and Hay Lin the Diamond Medal. You ladies have earned it.
The Crowd heavily cheers for W.I.T.C.H. on being awarded Diamond Medals. Yan Lin is looking directly at Hay Lin with a proud face along with a tear, being extremely proud of her granddaughter Hay Lin.
Oracle: Now everyone, please give another applause to our heroes!
The Crowd cheers for the heroes. W.I.T.C.H. and their allies congratulate each other.
Oracle: Alright, everyone, please walk through the rifts which leaf back to Meridian as we celebrate!
The Crowd enters the rifts, which leads to Meridian in the Town Square where the Celebration is held. It's a dusk night at Meridian, a celebration is held, a feast, music, dancing and a large fire going on to celebrate.
At the fire pit where Will is nearby. Matt approaches Will.
Matt: Would you join me for this dance my lady?
Will: Of course, I thought you would never ask.
Will gets up and begin dancing with Matt.
Matt: Will, I just wanted to say how much you mean a lot to me. You never gave up on me, and thanks for saving me numerous times. You're very important to me Will.
Will: Oh Matt! You're so sweet. You're important to me as well.
Matt and Will kiss each other.
Meanwhile, at the tables. Irma and Taranee enjoying the feast.
Irma: Wow, this Meridian food is absolutely delicious!
Taranee: I agree, Irma. This is way better than the cafeteria food at Sheffield.
Napoleon: We're enjoying this delicious food too right Huggles?
Mr. Huggles shakes his head yes while eating.
Back at the Fire Pit. Caleb and Julian having a father and son conversation.
Julian: Caleb, my son, I want to say how proud I am for you. You have done so much, and look at you. You're a hero now, and I couldn't ask for a better son.
Caleb: Thank you, father. I couldn't have done it if it wasn't for you to train me when I was younger. I appreciate you father.
Julian: Anytime, my son.
Cornelia walks to Caleb.
Julian: Son, looks like your lady wants to dance with you. Now go. That's an order.
Caleb: Yes sir.
Caleb takes Cornelia and begins dancing.
Cornelia: It looks like your father is very proud of you.
Caleb: Yes he is.
Cornelia: I'm also proud of you too. Now kiss me.
Caleb and Cornelia kiss while dancing. Meanwhile, at the Waterfront, Hay Lin looks at the lake with the bright moon looking over.
Yan Lin: My Hay Lin. Are you having fun?
Hay Lin: Hi Grandma, Yes I am. I'm just enjoying the view.
Yan Lin: I see, this quite a view.
Both Hay Lin and Yan Lin enjoy the view of the lake with the bright moon in front of them.
Yan Lin: I'm so proud of you, my dear. You achieved more than I had as a guardian. You have done so much. I couldn't ask for a better granddaughter.
Hay Lin: Thank you, Grandma. That means a lot to me. I couldn't ask for a better grandmother as well.
Hay Lin and Yan Lin enjoy their view together. Meanwhile, back at the Fire Pit. Elyon is sitting near the fire.
Cornelia: Hey Elyon.
Elyon: Hi Cornelia, I see you have been enjoying dancing with Caleb.
Cornelia: Uh huh, Caleb is such a gentleman.
Elyon: Hehe, I bet. Cornelia, I want to say thanks for not giving up on me despite not listening and harming you. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you.
Cornelia: Elyon, I knew you for a long time. You're my best friend, even when I have to make some sacrifices to get to you. Our friendship means a lot to me and you know it, Elyon.
Elyon: Thanks Cornelia.
Will, Irma, Taranee, and Hay Lin join Cornelia and Elyon at the Fire Pit.
Will: And you're our best friend as well Elyon.
Elyon: Really girls?
Will: Of course.
Irma: Heck yeah!
Taranee: You know it.
Hay Lin: Absolutely!
Elyon: Thank you, girls, it means a lot to me.
Will: Anytime Elyon.
Hay Lin: Look! The Firework show is about to begin. To the waterfront!
Irma: Last one there is a rotton tomato!
Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, Hay Lin, and Elyon run towards the waterfront to enjoy the fireworks show. The fireworks start blowing up in the Meridian sky. The celebration continues throughout the night.
The story does not end here.
ACT 2 - The Rise of Typhon
Deep in the roots of Meridian, a gathering of dark energy mix together. The ground is shaking, causing an earthquake. Something is rising up from the ground up. The unknown figure wakes up.
Typhon: Ah yes I have risen. I feel so good. Ahh yes I sense dark energy around this world. I must get more dark energy to become even stronger and powerful! Hahahaha!
The Demon Lord Typhon has risen and begins his search for dark energy. He follows the direction of the dark energy towards Infinite City, where all the imprisoned villains are kept. Typhon begins walking to the Infinite City.
Meanwhile, back at Sheffield Institute. It's the end of the school day.
Hay Lin: Hey Girls. We should head over to the Silver Dragon right now.
Will: What's the occasion, Hay Lin?
Hay Lin: Well, my Grandma wants us to meet an old friend of hers. What you girls say?
Will: I can't, I'm going out to dinner tonight with my mom and Mr. Collins. I believe Italian.
Cornelia: I can't either since my parents are going out tonight and I have to watch my bratty sister Lilian.
Taranee: I want to, but I have so much homework to do, especially after having too much time at the ceremony. Sorry, Hay Lin.
Irma: Hay Hay, you know I would go, but I promised my dad to go on a patrol ride along with him. Sorry, girl.
Hay Lin: Alright. Guess I'll see you girls later.
Hay Lin walks her way back home to the Silver Dragon.
Hay Lin: Hi Grandma.
Yan Lin: My dear Hay Lin. Where are your friends?
Hay Lin: They couldn't come Grandma. They have their own plans.
Yan Lin: That's alright. Hay Lin, please meet my good friend Huang.
Huang: Ah, you must be Yan Lin's granddaughter. I see you have the same beautiful looks like your grandmother.
Yan Lin: Ah, you're too sweet, Huang.
Hay Lin: What brings you to Heatherfield Huang?
Huang: Just visiting and seeing some old friends and family members. Also I have gifts.
Hay Lin: Oh Huang, that's nice of you but you don't have to do that.
Huang: Please, let me show you.
Huang pulls his suitcase and opens it, showing 5 bracelets.
Hay Lin: Ooo They are so pretty. What are they?
Yan Lin: These are the Mystic Bangles. Special bracelets that contain a special power, a power that no one has ever gained or possessed.
Hay Lin: This one has my elemental symbol. Was this the reason why you want me to bring my friends here?
Yan Lin: Yes my dear.
Hay Lin: Wait a minute? How does he know that I'm a Guardian?
Yan Lin: Because he knew I was a Guardian. He'll keep it to himself.
Huang: Please take them.
Hay Lin: I will. I'll give the girls these bracelets. But I have a question Grandma,

Earth friends and some teen W.i.t.c.h.es!
The original list had Caleb, but I hate him so much that I replace him with my true and only love of this comics Peter. You can also see that Napoleon has this evil look, I am just sure that he make the flower crush on the ground. Good cat for me.

quintessence-sentimentalist Takes on 30 Days of W.i.t.c.h.versary!: Week Four
Well, I’m a bit late and also exhausted, so not as much to say this time around. Still, Days 22-29!
Day 22 A wonderful pet
Oh, Dormouse/Mr. Huggles, for sure. Comics Dormouse was as iconic a symbol of Will as frogs or, hell, even the Heart. He was as adorable as he was troublesome, and he was just so precious with Will. His death still packs such a wallop that it’s outright unfair.
Mr. Huggles of the cartoon has a slightly better time of it, with the exception of literally being turned into a monster. I generally prefer comics Dormouse’s brown coat (and lack of name, I’ll admit) to Mr. Huggles’s white-gray, but I do think the color change works a bit better for animation. And while it’s a little... odd that they largely did away with Will’s close bond with him, at least they still kept him in his little family by having Matt take him in for good. Their relationship - a boy and his not-a-rat-he’s-a-dormouse - is reminiscent of another one from a certain other Disney teen hero cartoon around the same time, so that’s enjoyable to me. (And now I’m headcanoning Matt and Mr. Huggles meeting Ron and Rufus in a team-up of sidekicks to badass redheaded ladies and I really need this now.)
Day 23 A magical item
Is it too cliché to say the Heart of Kandrakar?
Really though, I absolutely love the design and concept of the Heart. Do its actual powers vary frustratingly from time to time and randomly do incredibly powerful things without any prior hint that it can? Sure. But the fact that such a pretty crystal packs that much of a punch is pretty darn cool.
Day 24 A group shot
I’m sure I could think of multiple from the comics, but hey, I’m just going to go with my header image, because I feel like I’m one of the only sources out there for it (somehow??) and honestly I love it too much because I feel like it should have been the season 3 promo art, with the way it has the girls looking super badass and surrounded by their allies.
Day 25 A minor character
For some reason I keep thinking of Principal Knickerbocker?? Her comic design is just really sticking out in my head for some reason.
But okay, I’m going to cheat on this one and go with pretty much the whole non-family/non-significant other supporting cast in Heatherfield (with the exception of Uriah and the gang). I just think they made a very... eclectic cast of background characters in the girls’ civilian lives that make for some fun and interesting moments outside of saving the world. There’s a running gag with how Mr. Horseberg and Coach O’Neill can’t stand each other (and literally come to blows over it), poor Bertold the custodian is Knickerbocker’s confidante/sidekick in running the show at Sheffield, and yes, I’m going to include Medina, McTiennan, and Sylla in this group because I enjoyed the concept of getting actual law enforcement involved in a magical girl series.
Day 26 A fantasy people/race/species
I think I’m going to go with the Banshees, partially for the reasons I discussed already in regards to Yua (beings that are supposedly super evil but frankly just want to be left alone in their bog home). I also find their design fascinating, as they all pretty much look the same and have the silhouettes of a beautiful woman, but get on their bad side and they’ll show you exactly how otherworldly and terrifying they can be.
Runner-up goes to the Basiliadians, because they’re so markedly diverse and I’d be fascinated by that worldbuilding.
Day 27 A personal headcanon
Oof, okay, let me think of something that I haven’t already blathered on about...
Hmm, well it’s not so much a headcanon as, like... a vindictive moment of satisfaction I’d love to see (and will maybe one day fic), but sometimes I like to entertain the concept of Will running into her old friends from Fadden Hills - who rejected her in the Year Before special - and just seeing them react to how much better her life is, having these friends who legitimately care about and love her and how she’s grown into this confident leader. I’ve been in pre-series Will’s place before, so this would be a cathartic thing for me, as well as a means to revisit prior canon.
Day 28 A personal memory
Oh dear, there are several of these that come to mind, some of which I’ve definitely mentioned before. But I guess I’ll choose one for the comics and one for the cartoon that I haven’t discussed previously.
I honestly just distinctly remember the wait for new issues - whether of the Philippines comics or the UK magazines - after my dad would order them on Ebay, since the US had largely stopped releasing any books or graphic novels by that point. I just remember being 13 and zoning out in history class because the package was supposed to come that afternoon (it oftentimes took a few more days) and I was so ready to binge-read when I got home.
As for the animated series, we didn’t get cable until near the very end of season 2, and the series had stopped running on network TV in early season 1, so I had to watch the majority of the series via YouTube. Mind you, YouTube had only been around for a year at this point and I think we had just switched over from dial-up, so most of my viewing happened at the kitchen table on my mom’s brick of a work laptop, having to rewind the low-quality recording every few seconds because it was buffering again, and then having to track down parts 2 and 3 of the episode because there wasn’t a capacity for more than 6-8 minutes of footage per upload. It was tedious, but the memories are somewhat fond.
And then some six years down the line, when I was a senior in high school, I would pop the DVDs I had into my computer and rewatch the series in the middle of the night after I finished studying, conveniently forgetting that I needed to be up for school about five hours later. I guess I just have memories of watching the series on a smaller screen.
Day 29 A word of thanks to any official W.i.t.c.h. artist(s)/writer(s)
I mean, you can’t have a W.i.t.c.h.versary without toasting to the minds behind our beloved girls: Elisabetta Gnone, Barbara Canepa, and Alessandro Barbucci. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for giving us these wonderful, truly magical heroines who have shaped my life in more ways than I can list. I’m a good 15 years into my adoration of this series, and I don’t see that train losing steam anytime soon.
Also, a nod to Greg Weisman and crew for season 2 of the animated series, which took the narrative in some intriguing directions that I still enjoy to this day.
