Im never gonna let go of this line, gang
I will gatekeep this shit for life unironically because it just goes to show how fucked up these two really are
Triffany was prepared to die, that's no new fact, I think for me it's the tone of her voice when she just kinda gets hit in the face that he's actually dead before her. She excepted him to live on after her.
Realizing she's never going to actually have him back (vice versa with Wambus), I love the fact on both Wambus and Triffany's end lines, in some way shape or form, they don't go back on the fact they're going to keep each other alive, physically or not.
Throughout the game they may or may not even talk much, but I feel like their company with one another just goes to show how much they really care.
I love talking about Wambus' lines, even with her gone he'll find some way or some how to remember her.
Tumblr media
I love Wambus' lines because of mainly the fact he's going to remember her more than anything, which from what I've seen of Triffany is something she wanted. She wanted to remember her Grandma, and now someone is going to Remember her. It's actually pretty sweet when you think about it.
Especially the lines 'Everything you and me ever did', from what we saw in game, they didn't do much together. But from the way Wambus talks about her, she seems so nice, understanding of him, they seemed to have spent a lot of time together, pre-snaktooth.
Wambus realizing he's not ever going to see her again, regrets the time they weren't together. But now he has time to make up for it, by continuing her and his own legacy together.
In short I really really really love these old Grumps and nothing will ever change my mind about them I love them 🧍🧍

---
Wambus hopped off the small, rickety boat and stumbled onto the sand. Taking in the sight of Boiling Bay, it wasn't much different from what he remembered. Minus the Piles upon Piles of Dead Bugsnax that seemed like sharp rocks in his way.
Wambus stepped closer, examining every inch of it up close, yet it felt so far away. The sky was tinted gray, the moon casting a blue, irritating glow across the island, not a cloud in sky, nor a twinkle from a star. Wambus just stared. It all felt too familiar, but no memory resurfaced in his mind. Why?
Wambus turned away, and he took his small steps in the sand, taking his time. Every step, he heard the faint sounds of Bugsnaxs, almost like snarling. Nothing of that of what he could remember of a Bunger or a strabby... or anything at this point. Like the air he breathed, it infested his mind with fog, and he'd soon be just shell.
Whatever, those were his silly thoughts.
Dragging his pack along, trying not to be caught by any snak in sight. Now, they seemed to be showing up. Covered in mold, barely able to stand, looking... delectable.
Wambus sped up his pace, hiding behind anything and everything he could as to not be caught by a steaming hot Noodler, with the noodles in the bowl spilling out like a thousand hands. Or, to not be bashed in the head by a chilly and aggressive Paletoss Grande, it seemed to be slowly melting into the island. Wambus tried not to stare.
He gulped as he scurried along, his long an wavy tail carrying behind him. It felt heavier...Wambus looked behind him, his tail swaying as a La Sodieux, foaming at the mouth with fizz crawled it's way up his tail, onto his shoulder. He stared, confused, mesmerized but quickly flicked it off, becoming more frantic as he realized his presence was now known.
Now, the fun had begun, and he had no choice but to run.
Quickly climbing on top of the old ship, trying to get the higher ground, a red banopper knocked him off with great force before he could even get a foot on the surface, feeling a few bones crack as he fell back.
He had no to hesitate. He quickly got up and bolted away, running past the sharp mountain and looking for somewhere to hide.
It was hot, but there was an open cave nearby, so he ran in. With the Bugsnax following quickly behind and alerted to his presence, Wambus took a leap of faith, literally. The place was covered in molten rock from the volcano, shaky like it was going to collapse at the seams. But at least if those Bugsnax were to follow him in, they'd be burnt to a crisp. Except that Noodler. He needed to figure out how to get rid of that Noodler. Luckily, he prepared for this. He grew sauce for a living, and those snax seemed to love that.
"Alright... let's try..." Wambus pulled out his old slingshot, quickly grabbed a fresh fruit of hot sauce from his pack, and tossed it towards the Paletoss Grande.
The Noodler quickly became distracted by the smell of it and away from Wambus. Wambus watched as the Noodler lunged forward towards the melting Paletoss Grande, devouring it. "Huh...Cannibalism, I guess." Wambus noted to himself. But now, he had no time to waste.
Wambus did his best not to stumble, as he tried to make it across and away from the Noodler... it was really getting annoying. One stumble, and he was done for.
Wambus made it across to the end and bolted to the smaller opening. It all seemed like one big cave system. If he could even get to Simmering Springs, that would be a miracle.
-
"Ughhh....are we there yet?" Beffica paced back and forth impatiently.
"C'mon, Beff, we're only...12 hours into the trip, we've still got 19 hours left!" Filbo tried to lighten to mood, but was awfully focused on reading through Eggabell and Lizbert's old notes... what was left of them.
"I know it's just... what are we supposed to expect there?! What was Wambus of all of us doing there?" Beffica looked at Triffany, who was awfully silent. She looked miserable.
"I'll tell ya what, he's gone mad!" Cromdo said, finally getting up.
"Don't jump to conclusions just yet, darling. As much as I want to agree with you..." Wiggle mumbled that last part to herself.
"Triffany, are you alright, bro? You seem..."
Chandlo and Snorpy looked at each other.
"You seem out of it, dawg." Chandlo said, leaning over to see her exhausted face.
"Oh dear...I... I can't really lie about this now, can I." Triffany kept her eyes in front of her, starting to sweat.
"Allow me to take over for a little while." Floofty said as they quickly scooted Triffany out of the way of the Helm and taking control, keeping a sturdy grip somehow.
Triffany sighed and sat on one of the cargo boxes they packed. No words, just... scilence.
"What was I thinking... of course, he would do something so... stupid!" Triffany sighed, taking of her hat, wiping her forehead, trying not to cry.
"What if we're too late? What if he's dead by now?!" Triffany muttered to herself, as... Filbo came over and sat down next to her.
"I-I.. I'm sure he's alright. He's Wambus! He's survived in nature all his life. It's his calling!..." Filbo wanted to lighten the mood.
"It just... feels like I know nothing about him anymore. Like he's... a different person." Triffany leaned back and sighed.
"But that's just me...I can't handle change..."
Filbo looked over at Triffany and hugged her.
"Maybe change is important, and we're just... getting used to it."
Triffany felt Flibo hug her as she looked down at her hands. It all felt too familiar. It was something she didn't experience.
She just wanted Wambus back. And Wambus wanted her.
"What do you think it'll be like there? On snaktooth, I mean?" Flibo let go and asked Triffany.
"I....it probably hasn't changed much from the last time we saw it." "I'm not sure what to expect."
"I shouldn't have dragged you all along, what if-"
"Whoa, whoa! You aren't dragging us along! We're coming with you, by our own choice. That's what we do, right?" Filbo smiled.
Triffany chuckled. "You sound just like your..." She hesitated. They weren't ready to tell him yet.
"...like who?"
"Hey, we got an issue over here!" Gramble shouted, as Triffany and Flibo quickly turned their attention over.
"What's going on?" Flibo asked."
It appears to me that we are running out of wood to continue our trip in the sky." Snorpy stated. "Luckily, we're on a boat, so we can still travel by sea. Though, I'm not sure how long that would extend our trip to Snaktooth... let me think."
Snorpy paced around the airship, and Gramble looked around, confused.
"Anyone seen Shelda?" He asked.
"Tch, that fraud has been awfully silent since we departed." Floofty said, keeping their eyes ahead of them.
"Maybe she's sleepin', dawg....?" Chandlo mumbled.
"Sleeping or not, I have my suspensions." Floofty said aggressively back.
"Could you not agure with someone for two seconds?!" Snorpy said with an agitated voice as he continued to count the wood.
All the arguing, it was all so... familiar. To Filbo, at least.
The ship was silent now as Triffany stared off into the moonlight.
"I wonder how he's holding up..."
-
Wambus was shaking, covered in scratches. It had been 3 hours. He'd been searching... what for. This scene... the snow, the freezing air...His nightmares. They were finally becoming a reality.
"Wambus?..." His ears perked up, and he heard a voice. He looked around the corner, seeing...
"E-Eggabell? Lizbert?"
Wambus smiled. He smiled brightly. Guess it would be a short trip, after all. He was foolish. He saw the two quickly run into the darkness of what seemed like some ancient ruin, carved into the mountain.
"Hey...W-wait!"
Wambus pulled out his slingshot and fruit of chocolate sauce, just in case, but following after. Deeper and deeper, he went into the darkness.
"Where did you two- AH!"
One more step, and he... fell. Farther and Farther, it was endless. It was dark. He couldn't catch himself but was caught by the arm by none other than Eggabell.
"HOLD ON!" Eggabell tried to pull Wambus up, trying to get him onto safe ground."
I-I...Uhm...!!" Wambus clawed at the walls. They were made out of snax. All of it... all of it was snax.
"Where... where are we..." Wambus felt his blood chill as with the help of Eggabell was able to get back up to the ground... It felt like the island got...deeper. It grew...
"What...what's going on?! How...are you... alive?" Wambus had many questions, but Eggabell simply got up and started to walk..
"C'mon." She said blankly.
Wambus quickly grabbed his slingshot but followed after.
"Hey, where'd you- Lizbert?"
Wambus peaked his head around the corner. It was so strange, it was Eggabell... then Lizbert."
Lizbert, what's going on? I thought you'd...well..." Wambus hesitated as he looked around.
He walked over to the walls of the underground and poked it. Immediately, it looked like fresh, carbona soda started pouring out from a small hole in the food. Leaking onto the ground, Wambus took a step back, confused. He quickly realized he lost both Eggabell and Lizbert.
"Dang it..."
He walked away from the leak. His feet were wet, and he hated it. He was walking for a few more minutes, getting lost among the many tunnels and connections. It was no use. He was as good as lost. Seeing a small, dim light at one tunnel, he quickly ran for it. It was nothing but a figment, but there was... another endless pit at the bottom. "Wambus, what are you doing." Lizbert walked over, standing behind him. He could hear the monotone in her voice. It was so... Unreal.
"..."
Wambus turned around and aimed his slingshot at her.
"You're not Lizbert, or Eggabell, are you?"
Wambus was quick to figure it out but felt stupid for being do naïve for so long.
"Answer me!" Lizbert gave no answer, but she quickly lunged forward at him, pinning him down.
Wambus screamed, trying to push her off as he watched her face melt like ice cream to reveal nothing but Bugsnax. It was all just bugsnax.
"The...WHAT THE HELL..."
Wambus was stunned. They weren't alive. He had been tricked. He felt his stress build up slowly, blood trinkling down his face as he was slammed head first into the molding ground
."AH!"
He quickly threw 'Lizbert' off of him, only to be sent back to the edge of the cliff.
"No no no no...."
He could only catch a glimpse of the bugsnax trying to retake a new form but failed miserably, as he fell.
Down and down, he went, falling endlessly for a few moments before something caught him. Not a hand. A Noodle. It was like the island itself was alive and hungry. Just by his left arm, and it pulled tight. Almost as if to tear it off, not to pull him to freedom. Wambus screeched in pain as he loud a growl, trying to get away, but he was in thin air, held up by this. What was he supposed to do. It was him against an island.
He felt his muscles pop. Soon, his blood vains would snap took. He could only let out cries of pain and agony as what seemed like a leaf of a strabby, tugging on his leg. The pain was indescribable. Wambus felt himself losing consciousness. In the end, he was just some rag doll to this island.
He closed his eyes, trying to endure the pain. Before letting out a loud, ear piercing screech of pure suffering of what was inflicted. He saw he was missing in arm. He could no longer think straight. He was being torn limb from limb. This is his fate.
Slowly, to make the pain last longer, he felt the bones of his right leg be torn out of place, the bare skin under his fluffy blur fur be torn like it was being stabbed. It's more than just a stab wound now.Now he was missing an arm, too. And he fell...
As long as it took, he gave up. No worth in pleading for help with you're now just a husk. It was perfect. It was deserved.
Wambus could give a weak smile, feeling himself fall. Ground was inching closer. So what if he broke a few bones from the fall. He'd die here anyway. He felt himself hit the ground finally... he was sinking. He was starting to panic once more. He couldn't choke out a word. Whatever he was in... it smelt sweet. Jam. Strawberry jam. He used his remaining arm to try and get out of it, but it was like quick sand. His squirming was useless. He felt himself sink and sink... all he could do now was let the planet reclaim him.
Every struggle and turn, his blood loss from his arm and leg made weaker and weaker... until his mouth was no longer showing, soon his eyes, all was his hat. It floated on the pool of Jam for a little bit, but sunk too. To answer Triffany's question;  that was how he was doing.
And it only costed him an arm and a leg.
