i have seen a lot of headcanons (& fics!) about bucky doing crochet or knitting that i LOVE but i also need everyone to consider --

steve watching his mother doing irish crochet; maybe she even teaches him some simple things when he's sick and needs something to occupy him so he'll sit still and rest; its a creative outlet for sarah and that artistic streak is something she and steve share almost a century later, crochet comes back into fashion with millennials and gen-z, and steve looks up a youtube tutorial. he doesn't have many physical things left from his mom; but he can make some stuff that she would have loved and it helps him feel close to her.

my friend got me the absolute cutest vintage corelle dish set as a wedding gift but i am so torn on whether or not we can use them because there's a risk of lead paint :(

#ive been doing a lot of reading and i think it should be ok because of the way their dishes are made theres no way to come in contact with #the paint unless the dishes are chipped or cracked #i also ate off my great grandparents vintage corelle my entire life #i think the plan now is to get a lead test kit #if it's negative then i think we'll use them and maybe just get a few new plain dishes for anyone who wants to be extra cautious #and if it's positive then ill just display them #really hoping we can use them though #i love them so much #like literally me if i were a dish set #brb gonna make a 'which vintage corelle pattern are you' uquiz

Okay, but how hard is it to just.

Not.

Write a love-triangle.

It cannot possibly be that hard.

#i'm going through my shelves and weeding out the good from the bad starting with the books that i suspect are not so good #and if there is a love triangle is immediately goes in the box #i am too tired for this #(i bought a LOT of books at book fairs over the past three years)#and even though i typically read 50-100 books a year #when i buy 300 every book sale #there is no way to make it through them all #i must cull #starting with triangles #(i've even found some squares)#(one might have been a hexagon but i stopped skimming when the third dude arrived on scene)#good grief #most girls struggle to net even one man #and here are all of these heroines barely able to beat off entire hordes with broom-sticks #it's being laid on a bit thick when there are three+ gents hanging around #i'm just saying #at that point i think all four+ people involved need to have a sit-down and reevaluate life choices #the problem with these books is a lot of them are vintage and i bought them based on title and prettiness since they have no blurbs #i've found a few truly wonderful treasures #but most are mediocre at best #and a few have been absolutely tragically awful

watching the sopranos rn (first time eva) and im 3 episodes into s4 which my dad told me is where it starts to really pick up. hey its a different show, like this is a different programme altogether

#everything is entirely different #it was 3 ep to season long arcs before. occasionally peppered with ep long issues #but typically most scenes contributed to long themes. there was no A B plot structure (A plot is the plot of the episode. B plot is the over #all plot of a season)#and everything remained within the mafia. and fairly self-contained #suddenly we've got heavily self-contained episodes with a huge focus on the A plot with little to no carry-over into the next #like it was a story about the terror of growing up to become a mafia leader. then the SA episode. then i dont remember what the last one was #and there are longer arcs bubbling in the background #crazy. its much more exciting and satisfying #interestingly one of the main writers for the sopranos went on to make madmen which ive already seen #and they also had a major upheaval of the exact same type in season 4. where the stakes were suddenly and dramatically upped #i didnt like it in madmen because i enjoyed its vintage feel #but i got used to it eventually #also im really impressed with how they write tony soprano. i go through wildly hating him to loving him within a single ep #which makes me wonder what the fuck went wrong with don draper. i hated that man from start to end #how do u write mr soprano and then fuck up draper that bad #oh well #if anyone actually read all this do u want to go out for a date #or if uve seen either of these pls tell me ur thoughts

two migraines in two days, but hey! I managed to cook the best rice in my life last night, and it's 24 hours later and I'm still really fucking proud of that

God am I lucky that my mom is so goddamn oblivious

#she likes to show me videos that she disagrees with #it ranges from articles about shootings to people literally just saying what their pronouns are #and it’s never a pleasant conversation #so I naturally get very sick of it #and I’ve actually shown enough displeasure and gotten away with it to be comfortable enough to state my full displeasure at it #so she said her usual ‘I want to show you something and you tell me what you think of it’#which pretty much just means ‘I disagree with this and want you to validate my feelings so I know I’m not a bad human being’#and so the video seemed like a conference of some sort- a woman started off by stating her pronouns and describing what she looked like and-#-what she was wearing. then another woman did the same and so on and so forth #i will say some of the descriptions were kinda odd & specific? one woman said she was wearing a vintage dress and another said she had a-#-clear mask and red lipstick on #i don’t know exactly why they were stating appearances as the video didn’t have any context- but regardless it was just a little strange-#-literally all it did was make me a little confused but who knows maybe someone needed that description- so why would I have a problem with #-that #but my mom apparently thought it was completely and entirely ridiculous #not in the sense that it was pointless to her but in the sense that she *disliked that they were making an effort to be inclusive*#like ?????#how does that affect you at all? sure it takes up a bit of time but it harms literally no one and might help some people #so where is the harm in that.#i pointed out that I didn’t have a problem with it and she says that she doesn’t either??? when she *very* clearly does?#i said something to the effect of ‘well clearly you do! i just don’t care either way’ and she said she doesn’t either and then goes on to-#-list why she actually *does* have a problem with it #i point out to her that she *clearly* does care if she’s making this big of a deal out of something so small. i said I don’t care at all-#-it doesn’t hurt me so why would I be angry at it?’#i think she realized that I wasn’t gonna fully take her said and finished the conversation off with something to the effect of ‘well I just-#-think it’s stupid’#god.#i wonder what kind of fuse she would blow if she found out that not only am I bi- but poly and genderfluid as well #I think she’d hate me being genderfluid the most #but then again I thought she was relatively accepting and here we are

Me :D... yeah I saw that and nope I am not sticking with that as my only light source when I'm the only human present *turns on closet light* This'll just have to do in the mean time ^-^;

#I have no idea how old that thing is but it's an old remnant from my prev home and I've been living in this current house for half a decade #and it also makes a buzzing noise when turned on. I'll try it out again soon but I fear when it burns out that I won't be able to switch ou #the light bulb because I don't even know what light bulb it uses :( and even then it might just give up entirely once the light bulb dies.#I'm already scouting out options but I am noticing that the online options are cute but I worry if they'll arrive safely #while the local options are more reliable to bring home but kinda boring in design :/#looked up my lamp (glass cover with floral designs and brass edges) and damn it's similar counterparts are labelled vintage and hella price #maybe I should consider lamp repair and get a quote...#Lynn posts #<3
