working out some stuff for my rewrites’s version of the founding cats of the clans/colonies- bear in mind, I’ve never finished the DOTC series, so I’m going off of wiki info, bare minimum memory, and made up stuff.

The tribe cats are no longer domesticated cats, instead, they are now a species in between Eurasian Lynxes and European Wildcats. The cats they meet after they leave the mountains are still domesticated cats. (In modern day, clan cats are not domesticated cats, having some features of their Eurasian lynx/wildcat ancestors, and are more of another made up subspecies mix breed thing, which I may write about later)

I’ve doodled up Clear Sky, Grey Wing (or Grey Sky here), Tall Shadow, Wind Runner, and Gorse Fur here, and the second image shows the outline of the original clan leaders’ star-like markings. I’ll probably draw some more eventually yippie!

The only two pieces of writing that have ever driven me to actual, full on tears are:

The end of Warriors: Dawn of the Clans and a certain drawn out character death (no spoilers, go read dotc if you haven't already it is either the best or second best wc arc imo)

This one Mastermind fanfic that made me so excited as I got up and ran around my room, bonking my nose against a shelf somehow, which contributed to the tears even more

And that is how Mastermind Wings of Fire almost broke my nose, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

I'm reading Path of Stars and I'm like "I really like Moth Flight. I wonder what people think of her." So I hop on Tumblr.com and guess what I find out.

People fucking hate her guts.

Because in later books she's like exiled or something and she's the first medicine cat to be like.. given the title by starclan. And she had kits and was like "This shits hard" so she split them all up and added a part to the code saying "Don't have kids if you have a job". And spottedleaf had.. kits?? Apparently??? And she was like "I specifically requested you not do that." And she was a bitch about it like "you don't deserve cat heaven, you didn't follow the rules" like wtf???

I love stained glass.

This was largely inspired by this collection of photos; I'd been wanting to do a redraw of an old stained glass founders drawing from a while back and it was such a perfect reference I knew I had to give it a go. It kinda fits into my medieval au, although it's a lot more extravagant than is probably realistic lol.

Some fun things to note:

It's based off of the ending of The First Battle with the founders swearing their devotion to Starclan. It's more supposed to depict how the modern clans (or kingdoms) remember the mythology rather than being an unbiased depiction of events.

It's displayed at four trees, hence the oak leaves bordering each window.

When Sky's Kingdom left the forest Cloudstar broke Skystar's window in anger. Rather than repair it the other monarchs just removed the window entirely.

The two skeletons represent Jackdaw's Cry and Falling Feather; I imagine they're remembered as a cautionary tale about the dangers of sharing blood across kingdom borders (as well as representing the mass grave buried beneath four trees)

Storm is remembered as the first angel of Starclan and is said to be the one who covers the stars and moon with clouds to show Starclans anger.
