Farewell 2018, Hello 2019!

It’s officially the last day of 2018 and I seriously can’t even believe it. How did it go so fast? The year seriously went by in a blur and I’m kind of upset i don’t remember more of the good times. But a hard year is nonetheless a year of lessons learned and strengthened relationships.

I made new friends. I met friends that I only knew through a screen. I celebrated my first year of marriage. I turned 25; yay to quarter of a century! I got contacts lenses lol. I finally conquered the drive from little ole Visalia to big ass Los Angeles, AND more than once!! I finally graduated from a school that I completed in 2017. I put out two crappy stories on here that to my surprise got so much reactions from you guys on here. I cried due to stress. I had my first anxiety breakdown. I cried due to family issues. I stressed for my parents. And I had internal conflict with myself on stuff that has been on my mind a lot this past year. Most days I was physically, emotionally and mentally tired but with the help of some friends and family, I was able to get out of this funk I was in. Though 2018 had plenty of cons and hardships, there were much more happiness and achievements to be celebrated. 

A small but special shout out to my internet friend turned real life friend; @stratus-skye07. Who would’ve thought that when I started following your blog and I made that horrible first timer mistake of asking you when the next chapter of MTTB would be posted, that this friendship would grow into something like this. Going from talking on here and bouncing story ideas off of each other, to being friends on social media, meeting in real life and now sending each other gifts that don’t even need to be sent but we just want to. Thank you so much for confiding in me with your most treasured works, being DELULUS together and planning our fantasies of how it’ll all be after we marry our biases, and not dropping me when I got annoying. I love you and thanks for being such a great person! I can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store for our friendship 🧡

Can You Make Money With Oriflame

The 2015 Oriflame Success Plan explains all the different ways you might make money with Oriflame.  One thing we did like, is that like Avon, they encourage consultants to find customers for retails sales even though we believe you can't make money with Avon.  

Depending on how far you progress up the Oriflame hierarchy,  you can make between 20% and 35% retail commission just from selling products at the recommended retail price.  If you can sell enough cosmetics, then you can make good money.  

To find out how much retail profit current Oriflame consultants are making, we looked at the 2016 Oriflame Annual Report.  As a NASDAQ publicly traded company, Oriflame is legally required to provide audited financial reports, so we believe this is the most trustworthy Oriflame document on the internet.

For us, the highlight of the annual report, was in the Key figures on page 40.  One of the key figures was 'sales per active consultant'.  It turns out that in 2016, the average Oriflame consultant made EUR 411.90 worth of sales for the entire year.

That's an average of 34 Euros worth of sales per month, which is U.S $39 at the current exchange rate.  A retail profit of just over $1 per day is an optimistic view of Oriflame.  It is our opinion that they are reporting their own sales figures, which represent the wholesale price.  

We want to know what the retail profit was.  If every Oriflame consultant earned the maximum 35% retail margin, then average retail profits for 2016 was 221 Euros per consultant.  According to our understanding of their 2016 financial reports,  Oriflame consultants earned less than $1 per day in retail commission.  Our calculation assumes all products were sold for retail profit, if consultants ordered for personal use, then their earnings would have been less.

Fortunately for Oriflame consultants, retails sales are not the only way to earn money.  Like all MLMs they can also earn incentives  from  the compensation plan when  they recruit others.  We looked at the UK version of the  Oriflame Success Plan, which explains how to qualify for different 'titles' which pay progressively more incentives.

Once you have started recruiting others to join Oriflame, you can qualify to earn monthly commissions on any product they order, as well as any product orders by others they might recruit.  If you reach the top rank of 'Executive Director', then you can earn commission ranging from 9% to -0.12% from 12 levels of depth in your downline.

We were able to calculate the average incentive paid to all consultants using the  128 page the Annual Report.  In the consolidated income statement (page 64), we found 'cost of sales', which is reported to have been EUR 366,467,000.  We have kindly assumed that the only cost of sales was MLM incentives. This is the total incentives paid to all Oriflame consultants in 2016

 We have estimated the total incentives paid in 2016 and Oriflame has told us that they have around 3,000,000 consultants around the world.  Using high school division, we calculated that on average Oriflame consultants earned EUR 122.16 in total incentives for the year.

According to our calculations, the average total income earned by Oriflame consultants in 2016 was EUR 343.16. This is shown in the table below

 Why is it Difficult to Make Money With Oriflame

Monthly Income, Growth & Traffic Report – December 2016

What I Have Done In December

With this Christmas season approaching I was keen to wrap up as many loose ends as possible and take it easy.

At the same time I was also looking into the new year and thinking about the direction I want the blog to go.

So with that said, let’s take a closer look at what I’ve been doing in December.

Affiliate World Asia

Right at the start of the month I flew out to Bangkok to speak at Affiliate World Asia

It was one of the best conferecnes I have been to and was super organised froms tart to finish.

They have another event in Berlin in June which I highly recommend you check out.

After the conference was finished I spent a few days exploring the city and went to the Thai Cooking Academy and checked out a local tailor amongst other things-

Although Thailand is generally thought of as a beautiful country, I really do not enjoy city’s and Bangkok is just another city for me.

Hopefully one day I will return to see the real life and soul of Thailand.

Content Audit

What took up most of my time this month was a complete content audit of the blog.

Essentially I am just going through every single post on the blog looking for content that is under performing, out of date or overlapping with other posts.

I used URL Profiler & Screaming Frog to pull data from a number of sources including Ahrefs, Majestic, Google Analytics, Google Search Console and more to produce a spreadsheet-

Then I worked through each post line by line to review them.

Now all that’s left to do is to create a plan of action from the data which will start with the deletion and merging of overlapping posts.

Content Creation

As I was in Thailand for a lot of the month and had my head buried in the content audit, I was a little light on new content this month.

I only published 4 new posts compared to the 6 I published last month.

We kicked off with this guide to make money blogging.

Then I launched an updated post of 64 free SEO tools as part of the larger marketing tools section.

I also published my income report along with the regular income report roundup.

Crunching The Numbers

So let’s get our hands dirty and see how the blog has actually performed this month.

Visitor Statistics

Last month traffic increased to 63,075 (2,102/day) which has dropped slightly over the festive period to 61,209 (1,974/day)

That keeps me above my goal of 60,000 visitors per month which I was expecting to drop off this month.

Most Popular Content

The free SEO tools was by far the most popular post on the blog this month.

That was followed by the Fiverr money making tutorial

Top Traffic Sources

The top traffic sources have remained pretty much the same as last month with nothing new to report really.

Search Engine Traffic

Search traffic has grown steadily the past few months but hit a small rut last month.

Last month saw 51,524 (1,717/day) visitors from Google which has dropped to 47,949 (1,547/day) this month.

However in the last week of December search traffic jumped 30% so we’ll see if that trend continues.

YouTube Views

I lost all of my historical YouTube views because of changes I made to the branding – so I keep track of them separately.

YouTube views increase gently from 18,066 to 18,388 this month.

That also had an impact on total minutes watched which also increased gently from 83,776 to 83,999 respectively.

Social Shares

This month the total social shares across Facebook and Google+ increased from 69,723 to 73,606.

Google+ – 25,497 (25,139 last month)

Facebook – 48,109 (44,584 last month)

Subscribers

The most important metric on the entire blog – earning a subscription from someone is the ultimate form of commitment and conversion.

This month brought 2,146 new subscribers which is steady increase from last months 1,756 new subscribers.

There are now a total of 154,663 subscribers across all of the various channels!

E-mail – 1,230 (1,076 last month) / Total: 85,737

Signing Off

I was expecting a much heavier drop during the festive season, especially after November’s Black Friday which inflates figures.

However it seems both traffic and earnings held their own, even though I wasn’t really that focused on either this month.

Now that December is out of the way and the New Year is here it is going to be full steam ahead!

I have a lot to do from tidying up content all the way through to revamping my email marketing strategy and much much more.

So here is to a great 2017 for all of us!

House Dance Judge: “Kink”….. Wait, this is an original by that masked artist unlove!? No way, that’s dope.

Reggae Dance Judge: The crowd’s really into it. Their popularity is no joke

Chihiro: (I always get kinda nervous before stepping onto the stage. But….)

Ten: I mean, there's only a week left till the real deal, right? Why stress trying to get it perfect when we can just—

TL Notes:

In the original, Saburo’s laugh is shown as ぷぷぷ and since that reminded me of the infamous Monokuma laugh, I decided to translate it as “Puhuhu” since that was the english localization for Monokuma’s laugh in the first DR game.

Original line is “あざまる畜産で～す。” (lit: “Us livestocks are thankful~”), I took creative liberties with this one since keeping “livestocks” wouldn’t make much sense in standard english. In the Live2D, it kinda implies Chihiro said this line in a self-deprecating for humor way as well, to keep the situation civil.

Original is “それでは発表します！” (lit: I’m gonna announce it now!”). I changed it for the sake of better flow
