I realized something about Generation Loss that made me love it even more. Someone else has undoubtedly already thought of something like this but I’ve seen no other posts about it so I’m just gonna imagine that I’m clever okay here we go✨
During the finale when Ranboo was tied up to his crucifix, Hetch told him that when the mask had been off during the events leading up to that point, Ranboo had been fully in control of himself. Ranboo protested, saying it had been Showfall making the fatal decisions, that he was being controlled by them and had no choice. It was true that Ranboo, even while in control when the mask was off, didn’t realize exactly what was happening. It’s not like those moments of lucidity were ever long enough for them to figure out how to change anything. But they were still moments of lucidity. Tiny scraps of free will that Ranboo was given. And the choices made in those moments didn’t save anyone, but who knows? Maybe they could have, if Ranboo had played his cards differently. Ranboo argued that he didn’t have a choice, that there was nothing else that could have been done; he was horrified by the blood on his hands but denied that he could have changed the outcomes.
The day after the finale, CC!Ranboo told us on stream that there had indeed been an ending planned for if the majority had voted live, and they told us what it was, debunking the theories that the ending was always going to be death no matter what. They confirmed that the votes hadn’t been rigged, that the outcome was 100% true to viewer votes. After all, their goal, the very experiment that gave this Generation its name, was to see if we as a collective would actually vote to kill somebody. And just as they’d been hoping, we did. If you really want to see whether the majority would vote for death, you wouldn’t rig the vote because you’d never get your answer. That final vote was a test of our human psychology; we were the subjects of the social experiment. And yet there were still posts being made weeks later about how the ending was predetermined, about how our votes never really mattered, about how no matter what we did that box would have closed on his head.
At the core of this whole experiment, CC!Ranboo did to us exactly what Showfall did to GL!Ranboo. They gave us just enough free will that we were able to argue that we never had any at all.

Generation Loss Episode Three was Scripted, a short analytical commentary
I don't think Ranboo was entirely in control in episode 3 like we're lead to believe.
I’m obsessed with the set up of “episode three was also scripted by showfall”. Episode one follows a clear plot, there's a few glitches but for the most part you get the vibe that this is what a showfall show usually is. The second episode has more glitches, giving the audience more chances to see “the real gl!Ranboo” and his reactions to the Horrors, before being shoved deeper into the mind control and turning into an NPC in those last bits from the museum onwards. It ends with Hetch breaking through the show and releasing gl!Ranboo. Not completely though, but the audience wouldn’t know that. We are taught to assume from the glitches that when the mask lights are off or flashing, gl!Ranboo is (mostly) in control. So why would we question that now? The lights aren’t even flashing, they’re off. They have a genuine reaction that anyone would have after suddenly becoming aware of themselves in a giant mall. But gl!Ranboo was still under control. Showfall seems to typically control people with accessories, and while that's not always true, the mask is still on him, lights or no lights.
(i'm putting the rest under the cut because this is over 1000 words and I don't want to be a menace to my mutuals who don't follow genloss)
Ranboo stated that every choice gl!Ranboo makes in the finale was the wrong choice. Saving gl!Charlie, steering gl!Charlie away from the axe, trusting Hetch, choosing the wrong code, walking to the wrong exit, the list goes on.
Charlie has been in every episode. There are theories of him being “Showfalls Favourite”, maybe this is true, or maybe he’s a fan favourite? Maybe the show was set up for Ranboo to find him, and feel compelled to release him from the mind control. Having someone with the main character also prompts dialogue, which we wouldn’t have gotten if Ranboo was by themselves.
The fateful words “can you run with that?” causes multiple problems for these characters when Ranboo steers Charlie away from the axe. If he had it, they would have gotten out. To me, the most logical explanation is that Showfall could not allow them to escape before Hetch’s grand plan was executed. On one hand, why couldn’t they just have Charlie not pick it up in the first place? Maybe they did actually release Charlie from being mind controlled (but not Ranboo) so his reactions felt real. Why have the axe in the room at all? I don’t have a good explanation for that. But Ranboo saw the TV monster/security, he saw what it did to the employee and Sneeg, why would you risk not having an axe, even if you thought it might slow you down a bit?
After Hetch “died”, he gave instructions to the button. The ratio turns to cinematic. The cameras are no longer being controlled by drones, it’s like a movie. The camera men are no longer acknowledged. Ranboo goes into an almost trance, stabbing the first employee he sees. While I recall Ranboo mentioning that gl!Ranboo was angry at everything and wanted to avenge his friend (or something along those lines), the cinematography from the view’s POV, and just the ‘trace’ full stop feels like a driving point to the plot. This also brings me to the wires that bleed from the employee. I believe that gl!Ranboo’s actions have been influenced by Showfall up until Hetch’s scene, but it was still Ranboo. Now, as the ratio changes, Showfall are back in control. Their filter is back up. The employee we see mauled by security earlier was bleeding, the one Ranboo stabs is wires. I do enjoy the theory that employees who try to escape or try to help cast members escape are killed and filled with wires, as well as the theory that the longer they work for Showfall, the less human they become. It could be any one of these theories, but its definitely important due to the emphasis put on it.
Charlie’s last moments were spent trying to get Ranboo out, the man was getting gutted and torn to shreds, possibly having wires shoved inside him, and he manages to find the strength to stop screaming in pain and point towards the button. I may be reading into this too much, it's a very plausible scene and it does fall inline with the famous last words trope. I may be reading into all of it too much, as many of these elements could just be creative choices with no real plot behind them, particularly the ratio change.
Another thing I’ve thought of while writing this, security seems to hang around after its killed.
We see it over Sneeg’s body, however it must have been there for a while. Ranboo and Charlie were out in the open in the mall, not too far away, surely Sneeg’s screams would have echoed throughout the space, suggesting that he died before they were close enough for them to hear it. Security was also hovering over Charlie, while the other employees were chasing after Ranboo, which you would assume was security’s job. Both of these scenes goes back to that theory of security (re)wiring and reprogramming the employees and cast members. This brings me hope that Charlie and Sneeg aren’t dead, just reprogrammed. But then this goes back to my other post about Ranboo saving Charlie was the reason he died, and the parallel between Ranboo’s choice and the audience's final choice. What's the better outcome? Becoming/remaining a cast member with Showfall Media for as long as they want you to entertain for them, living under mind control for entire lifetimes, or death, right here, right now. The audience, and Ranboo, decided the latter was a better fate.
As of the last scene with the box, I'm not sure if thats gl!Ranboo in total control or not. According to Ranboo, it is, and Showfall are even putting his memories back. It would make sense he was in control, maybe Showfall were just lucky their 'hero' had so much emotion behind him.
To summarise, there are many details that indicate gl!Ranboo was not in total control in episode three like we are led to believe. We are trusting Hetch just as Ranboo did, and look where that got them.
feel free to add to this in replies, reblogs, tags, whatever! I'd love to hear your thoughts, whether you agree with me or not

EMETOPHOBIA TW!!! TW FOR GRAPHIC DESCRIPTIONS!!!
Enjoy this little POV of gl!Charlie after the events of the finale of Genloss, and what things might come after.
He opens his eyes.
The feel of the cold flooring of the mall doesn’t mix right with the warm feeling and coppery smell of blood. Fuck.
He’s gonna be sick.
Charlie empties the contents of his stomach, and it mixes with the blood. The smell is too much to bear.
Get up! His mind screams, Get the fuck up! You’ll die here if you don’t!
But it’s so hard. He’s so weak and tired…
Ranboo.
“Ranboo?” Charlie calls out quietly into the darkness, too afraid to attract the attention of the thing that had attacked him earlier. No response.
He lets out a sob of pain as he forces himself to his knees. The pain is almost unbearable, but it’s not as bad as-
There are hands in his guts. There are hands in his guts and they’re pulling out his insides bit by bit. Charlie is screaming, thrashing in his binds as his friend continues to pull him apart. He knows Ranboo isn’t seeing what he’s seeing, but he’s so desperate to get through the control and he’s in so much pain. So he screams. And Ranboo doesn’t listen.
Charlie heaves again, but there’s nothing left but bile that dribbles from between his lips. He’s gotta get up. He’s got to get up and find Ranboo so they can leave like they said they would.
He stumbles to his feet, nearly slipping on the horrible mixture on the floor. The wound isn’t as bad as it looks- it’s thick across his stomach and bleeding sluggishly, but the vest had kept the wound from being fatal.
“Cmon Charlie.” He mutters to himself “Just gotta find Ranboo. Just gotta find him and leave.”
Charlie flinches as he accidentally shoulder-checks a Showfall staff member, but they don’t seem to react. It’s almost like they’re frozen in time.
There’s the bright red of an exit sign that draws his attention. The door is wide open.
Had Ranboo gotten out?
Charlie makes his way towards it, like a moth drawn to flame. Every painful footfall causes the edges of his vision to flash, but he forces his eyes to stay open because he has to leave. He has to get back to-
To-
He doesn’t know. Charlie has no fucking idea what he was doing before this and the thought causes angry tears to well up in his eyes. Where did he come from? Was there anyone waiting for him to come home? Did his parents care? Did he have a girlfriend, or maybe a wife back home? Did she miss him?
“Fuck.” Charlie hisses out between gritted teeth as he leans against the doorframe for support. It’s okay. He’ll learn soon enough. Soon he’ll get to see his parents and get to hug that maybe girlfriend or wife and he’ll finally be free.
What’s supposed to be an exit to the outside is anything but that. The room is covered in wires and tvs, and hung in the middle like some fucked up mockery of Jesus Christ is Ranboo.
There’s a black box covering his head. The amount of blood and viscera on Ranboo’s jacket tells Charlie all he needs to know, but he has to check. For his own sake.
The box gives away after a couple of weak pulls, and the sound of metal leaving flesh will haunt Charlie for the rest of his days. The mask is broken, and hangs in tatters around Ranboo’s face. Or what’s left of it at least.
“Fuck!” Charlie sobs, “No! Fucking hell!”
Through the gore, he can see tear tracks. Ranboo is dead.
“I see you’re still alive.”
The voice makes him whip around. The man in the red hoodie- Hutch, he thinks that’s what Ranboo had called him- stands before him. Alive.
“But- You’re supposed to be fucking dead! We watched you die! Did you do this?!”
Hutch tilts his head, the dim light reflecting off the matte black of his mask making him appear much more sinister. “You know better than anyone here that looks can be deceiving when it comes to Showfall, Charlie. As for who killed Ranboo? Well, it’s Their fault.”
“Their?!” Charlie snaps, “Did They strap him down and put a metal box on his head?! Did They strap me down and force some unwilling participants to root around in my guts? They didn’t do this! You fucking did!”
He steps forward, hand reaching to his side. He had picked up Ranboo’s knife, but then he had been too scared to use it. But now?
Now, he was gonna end it.
“You killed them! All of them! Ranboo, Austin, Niki, Ethan, Sneeg, Vinny… They’re dead and it’s your fucking fault!”
Charlie lunges, knife held high, but before he can get any closer hands grab his arms. He struggles, but the blood loss has weakened him and he can’t keep up the fight.
Hutch hums to himself and taps his chin, pondering. “You’ve always been so feisty… The fact that I’ve allowed you to live this long says a lot about my charitable nature, you know.”
“I don’t want your charitable nature.” Charlie punctuates the sentence with a pull, pulling the two Showfall staff with him. He’s strong, and if he can fight the pain he can end this. “I want you dead.”
“Y’know, we don’t normally do reruns. Audience retention and all that. But for you I might make an exception.”
Hutch leans in close. “The things I’ve seen you do to survive. You don’t remember them, but I do. You think Ranboo’s was bad? I’ve seen you do things to people you couldn’t even begin to comprehend.”
Charlie leans away, shocked from the accusations.
“I’ve never hurt anyone.”
But it comes out weak because he knows it’s a lie. Even if he doesn’t remember it, Charlie knows he played the game like Ranboo, like Sneeg and like all the others. What had he done? Who had he hurt?
“All the blood on your hands says otherwise, Charlie. You were always my favorite, y’know? So spunky, and we never had to push very hard to get what we wanted out of you. I think a rerun will do just fine.”
With that, Hutch turns away and claps his hands twice.
“Run it back! It’ll be even better this time, don’t you worry. I’ll make sure of it.”
Hands grab him on all sides, forcing him onto the ground. Charlie screams and thrashes, fighting with everything he has to no avail.
Something cold snaps over his face- the mask, no- but it’s too late. He’s going back.
The last thing Charlie sees is the corpse of Ranboo, bloody and broken.
I’ll get out. Charlie promises the figure. I’ll get out, and I’ll end the cycle once and for all.

I’m gonna ramble.
Genloss is just. Holy fucking shit.
I’ll admit, the first episode lowered my expectations. I saw the content warnings, I knew it was a horror project, so I thought I knew what I was getting into. Gl ep1 was not that, until the very short scene with the tv, after which it reverted back to more of a video game/comedy show. It was interesting for the most part, but it didn’t feel like a horror project.
That scene showed what genloss was going to become. It said that what Ranboo was going through was a show for ‘their’ entertainment and it showed that this video game-esque show, with its challenges and goofy villains wasn’t just that. It was a horror project.
Then episode 2 came out yesterday.
Ranboo’s reaction to cutting into a living body in order to find a key was not the most excited. He was disgusted by the idea, but when Charlie started joking around and well, he wasn’t really human, he was more okay. He wasn’t hurting anyone, not really. It was just gross. Then his mask malfunctioned, and Charlie’s insides were no longer the green of slime. He was screaming in agony and that was Ranboo’s fault. Then nothing. Everything was fine. Oh look, a hot wheels car! Isn’t that just hilarious?
Again, he reacted perfectly humanely when he found out that he would have to choose who got to live and who had to die upon seeing the carousel. He had just spilled out a man’s intestines, and now he would be responsible for more pain? One of them was sobbing. He had to interview them and decide who deserved to live? What kind of sick horror was this? Did it really feel real though? The man’s children, oh so funny. The slime man’s back! What’s he joking about this time? Oh Frank, we missed ya buddy.
The villain’s really not even that scary.
Faster and faster he adapted to avoid what should have been horrifying. A woman shot dead. A man killed by an anvil. Someone was eaten. Still, Ranboo was emotionless. Even when his mask began blinking, someone was there behind the scenes to fix it. It was just comedy for ‘them’ after all. They didn’t want their Hero too scared. So he was desensitized to everything.
His words often came out as generic as a video game character. Well… that’s what he was, to ‘them’. Ranboo played along because he had no other choice. His mask controlled him, though I’m not sure if it controlled how he perceived everything or how everyone else viewed the game as well.
When the person in the TV finally contacted him again and managed to shut the mask down, however temporarily it would be, Ranboo experienced everything again. He saw everything. Even when his mask had flashed and he was able to snap out of the game temporarily, he didn’t see the full scope. The cameras, the microphones, the people just watching him.
Tumblr media
He is a pawn in their game, but now he’s beginning to realize that he may have his own moves he has to make.

uhhhh first Tumblr post wowzers!!!! Who wants a silly little genloss theory of course you want a silly little genloss theory!!!!
(Spoiler warning of you haven't watched/finished Generation Loss yet) I don't think Hetch wasn't always bad. First of all, in a Behind The Scenes streams by Ranboo he it was confirmed that whe GL!Ranboo was putting the codes in the computer, red (the one chat chose) was the correct code. Why was hetch so insistent on GL!Ranboo listening to chat if chat would help them escape? Second of all, "The Spirit Of The Cabin," after Hetch first appears there's a "technical difficulties" screen. While, yes, this could just be for Ranboo, Charlie, and Sneeg to get in their places, Ranboo said it was more as if there was a hacker infiltrating Showfall. If Hetch was just another worker, why would Showfall put that screen up? Another thing from "The Choice," when it's the voting part, you can see the mask flash "SOS" in Morse code. You could say that GL!Ranboo was asking for help because obviously this isn't an ideal situation for him, but GL!Ranboo isn't the one in control of the mask. Hetch (or at least some other showfall employee) is. Now for my final point in this argument, the reason a lot of people suspected Hetch was because of that time Hetch was like "yeah everyone's dead. Oh you wanna leave? Nvm they're alive." And yes, this is very suspicious, but he wasn't wrong. Sure, you could say we didn't technically see Charlie die in episode two, but you know who we did see die? Sneeg. You know who was in episode three? Sneeg. When GL!Ranboo and GL!Charlie encounter the dead employee, you can see Sneeg getting killed by Security in the background. And it was confirmed that it was sneeg. Hetch never lied to Ranboo. Conclusion: Hetch most likely was "reset" and brainwashed after he was attacked. Thank you for coming to my TED talk :3

We are the social experiment
K. So we are already pretty certain that we are the social experiment, not the cast. Although they should definitely be considered part of it after all they’re going through
And
I was rewatching the message from the founder they congratulated us but the part that stood out to me was the “you have done well.” To me it seemed like some sort of training or testing had just taken place. We are being tested, but why? And why is our choice to kill gl!ranboo the right one if they seem like an important cast member. Although ig each cast member could be equally important if programmed that way
Anyways. Why is SFM testing us??? They are happy with how we did but I don’t really think that’s a good thing. And lorewise, do you think if we had chosen gl!ranboo to live then would be equally as happy. Is it the voices we are making or the fact that we are playing their sick game that pleases the founders.
Give me all your conspiraciessssss

my own genloss rambles is that i don’t think that gl!ranboo is dead dead. the last bit, the end credits pre say, show multiple tapes, meaning more stories and experiments. it’s also been canonically established that people can die (sneeg and charile) and come back. there’s more to snowfall then we know, and if you think like logically, how did hutch (IS THAT EVEN HIS NAME I CANT FIGURE IT OUT) take a crazy lethal blow and then drag a very tall guy away, that don’t make sense. so snowfall maybe could have some crazy healing factor??? or like?? smth?? but still, i also think that snowfall wouldn’t let their main character get away that easily. after going through all the trouble to get him, why would snowfall just let them get mercy killed. if the whole thing is for entertainment why fully kill off your “hero”
so in summary i don’t think gl!ranboo is dead dead, it doesnt quite fit right in my head for other characters to “die” and come back just for gl!ranboo to die fr
but that’s just a silly theory woooo!!!
