His back in against the side of his bed and they are a tangle on the floor.  calloused fingers ran through her hair, gently and absentmindedly. His attention is focused on one of the many magazines they’ve accumulated.

“what about this one?” he asked picking it up with his free hand to show her, “ Is that what you’re looking for?”

“That’s a neat coincidence.” Peter presses  his face  against MJ’s shoulder, sighing quietly and letting his eyes close. It feels like forever since he’s had a hug, even though he knows it was just this morning when he’d left home. His nose scrunches and unscrunches as he considers whether or not he wants to talk about  this, and talk about  it with  MJ specifically.  “It’s the anniversary of my  Uncle Ben’s death,” he says finally. “I  kinda’ gotta’ be the strong one when I go  home, for my aunt, so this is kinda’ the only time I’ve got  to.... I dunno’.  Not be okay.”

but lets be real, i was so excited when you followed me back, you have no idea. and i know we haven’t talked a lot and it’s mostly me throwing you starters and ideas but let’s take a moment and just state the obvious and that is : I love your mary jane!

I have been writing and rping on tumblr since 2012 and I haven’t been so excited to dig through someone’s aesthetics or wishlists or just meta rambling in such a long time.

MJ feels like such a real person rather than a character on the screen.

 I know we started a thread with them being 18 and the blind date, but I love your idea of them being childhood friends. Of MJ coming over and having a spare key and just genuinely growing up together as friends.

 I think I love the idea of them as a ship because both characters are grounded in having to grow up a lot faster than they are supposed to and handling it in different ways.

In my headcanon Mj is the first person who finds would Peter is Spider-man and i can see your MJ holding to that and just...

You have Peter and Gwen and yeah for my character it lasted from high school to early college before he inevitably accidentally kills her, but MJ is the one who has to deal with the fall out and damn I can see your girl handling it well and being strong because that’s just the kind of person she is.

In my head they teeter back and forth between friends and something romantic and that line is so blurred and per comics they have two proposals and I love that.

I can see my Peter post Gwens death just gravitating towards your MJ and just holding her hand whenever and where ever he sees her out of habit and self comfort because she is the strong one.

Peter can lift 170 times his weight, can and has almost killed wolverine as well as thrown him out of a penthouse, and done many self life threatening things and all of that adds up but it’s okay cause MJ is the strong one.

He can keep going because she’s there. Even when she shows she vulnerable and a lot worse he still will think that she is the strong one.

Because she is.

She makes him a better person.

My favorite book is Frank Herbert’s Dune and there’s a scene between the protagonist and his love interest and I think it fits for both our interpretations:

"There's no other place for peace," he said.  "Usul, you're crying," Chani murmured. "Usul, my strength, do you give moisture to the dead? To whose dead?"  "To ones not yet dead," he said. 

 "Then let them have their time of life," she said. 

 He sensed through the drug fog how right she was, pulled her against him with savage pressure. "Sihaya!" he said.  She put a palm against his cheek, "I'm no longer afraid, Usul. Look at me. I see what you see when you hold me thus."  "What do you see?" he demanded. "

I see us giving love to each other in a time of quiet between storms. It's what we were meant to do." 

 The drug had him again and he thought: So many times you've given me comfort and forgetfulness. He felt anew the hyperillumination with its high-relief imagery of time, sensed his future becoming memories--the tender indignities of physical love, the sharing and communion of selves, the softness and the violence.

He was trying to be strong, trying to keep it all together. Peter couldn’t even begin to properly explain everything he was thinking or feeling; mostly because he couldn’t even begin to understand everything that had happened. He had died. He had failed to save everyone when the time had come; he’d been given one job --- pull the gauntlet off, and he had failed. Because of him, half of the entire universe had died. Then, when they’d come back; they’d still lost. Thanos might have died, but at a heavy cost. He’d been to space; he’d seen oblivion. His mentor... dead. How could he be expected to cope with that ?  It was too much. 

The memorial was at S.I.; how could he go as both Peter and Spider-Man ? After everything that he’d done. The internship, the training. Everything Tony had done for him; only to go back now and.... no. He just couldn’t. He had lost too many people already; he couldn’t lose another. “ I’m just... I can’t go back there, MJ. It’s selfish, yeah but it’s too much. ”
