Ok so, about Heart of the Lycan King, right?

-protagonist and her pack are explicitly African which is cool!

-that's about where the pleasantries end. Her parents died when protagonist Natasha was 14 and she became a slave. Now 20, her Alpha and mate Mateo keeps their matehood a secret and makes Natasha strip naked and watch as he has sex with his girlfriend Camilla (appropriate name lmao) and this disgusting absolutely rancid fucking dickhead even forces Natasha to strip naked and watch and also suck him off after he's slept with Camilla and he even walks up and just blatantly pinches and twists her nipples for no reason until they're basically bruised (OUCH!!! KILL HIM!!!)

-Natasha has a naturally thick body so everyone calls her fat. She was naked and Camilla makes a comment that "maybe her tits are so saggy because someone is sucking on them" and Mateo literally drags still naked Natasha into the dining room where the pack is still eating and asks if anyone has touched her and they all call her fat and saggy and make fun of her, and then some fucking beta male parrots a rumor that Natasha sucks people off and Mateo is like visibly fucking jealous and furious? Over a rumor? And he even asks the guy "who" and the guy says "idk" and even when Natasha says "if I was sleeping wirh someone you would feel the pain I feel through the mate bond when you sleep with Camilla" (get his ass) and that kind of calms him down but he's STILL mad?

-the real reason Natasha is treated like shit besides being an Omega and an orphan is that her wolf is brown and white and there are myths that two toned wolves bring rhe destruction of whatever pack they're in so. They harass her over folktales

-there are werewolves AND lycans with the lycans being stronger which is usually the case in these stories. The lycans are slowly dying out because they don't have enough females and they usually die in childbirth so the lycans take unmated female werewolves every 3 years but most of them die too

- before they meet officially, we are introduced to the male lead a la switching to his POV. He's the current Lycan King named Aiden and he's a green flag so far, talking about how he yearns to find his mate to have a bond and that special love and affection, like he even says maybe he should visit human settlements to see if his mate is there, he doesn't care WHAT his mate it, he just wants to meet them and love them 🥺 meanwhile Natasha just got caught stealing money from Mateo's room to escape gnfjfkfkf AIDEN RESCUE HER SOON. Also he's a professional soccer player!

-Natasha is described as being a slightly darker skin tone than most of her pack, but then Aiden and Natasha are described as being the same skin tone which I like, almost all of these stories have exclusively white characters or white love interests. Tbh I expected him to be white hearing his name was Aiden so, some good rep in this story!

-Aiden walks in on Natasha mopping (thankfully, Aidens arrival kept Natasha from getting brutalized for being caught stealing since they need Natasha to help clean before the king gets there) while Camilla and Mateo berate her and Mateo almost hit Natasha right in front of the king before he noticed who else was in the room. Aiden is INSTANTLY incensed that this pack hits women even as he cannot tell Natasha is his mate yet. We Stan a king 🤴

-UH OH SISTERS WE GOT A TROPE REVERSAL! Aiden, walking up to Natasha, slips in one of the puddles of water, quote "making some weird sounds as i try to steady myself, flailing my arms, positive im about to kiss the floor" (DWEEB lmao) when Natasha catches him from falling (and it's emphasized her hands are rough and calloused from years of work)

-THEY BOTH FALL AND SLIP N SLIDE ACROSS THE FLOOR TOGETHER AND HE HUGS HER SO SHE DOESN'T HIT HER HEAD 🥺

-it's touching and meeting her eyes for the first time that finally jolts the mate bond. Hearing him describe the mate bond is such a huge green flag all around. "It's like I've been asleep all this time and I just woke up, experiencing the greatest joy I've ever felt in my life" like he loves the bond and he loves her so much and he doesn't know her name. I know sometimes the mate bonds can be creepy but there's also something so pure about the love you know 🥺 when everything goes right anyways

-"I knew that I would absolutely die for this woman. In seconds, this woman became essential to my entire being. I was existing but I wasn't alive, now im living, finally I'm whole" 😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️ and then he notices she's crying in fear and she has bruises and instantly asks who did it to her. NOW KILL HER PACK BRO DO IT DO IT DO IT--

-BRUH no hate but the female narrator, the voice she uses for Aidens wolf, Leo, way too deep, she just sounds like she's about to try and make the Grudge a-a-a-a broken neck sound. Listening to Leo speak is literally cracking me tf up

-Dumbass fucking Camilla steps forward, "oh your eminence, she's just so clumsy :) she trips and falls all the time, isn't that right Natasha" and Aiden lets Natasha walk away as he vows he's going to find out what's going on and take her away

-yall uh Natashas wolf is actually fucking useless. Natasha herself says her wolf barely ever even speaks to her and Natasha is like "do you think we can trust him as our mate" and this depressed fucking mutt deadass responds "no one has ever loved us and no one ever will" YOURE SUPPOSED TO BE HER FRIEND AND PROTECTOR? Honestly Natasha is a better person than me bc I would've started hating this wolf already. Its your fault Natasha gets treated like this you cowardly fucking oreo

-Aiden starts calling her '"Nala" which is Swahili for present/gift because "you are my gift, my everything"

-maaaaan so usually you guys know depending on the circumstances that I'm not a real big fan of the removal of consent in some of these stories but we got a green flag kidnapper right here. Aiden is outside with Natasha about to take her away and she's like "can't you just reject me here? You don't have to take me somewhere" and starts TELLING HIM "no you don't want me, I'm cursed, I am not worthy of love" and Aiden is just like "ok well, im really sorry but you're really not going to like this" and just. Scoops her up and prepares to kidnap her (GOOD) but they keep talking and she agrees to give him a chance (but he can tell she doesn't trust him and has some kind of plan and is probably going to run away when his backbis turned)

-Aiden is about to drive off with Natasha when Mateo, fucking cuck runs up "actually I lied, Natasha is still my mate, I didn't reject her" you absolute fucking liar. This absolute fucking moron has the gall to tell Aiden to his face "I already have a woman as my Luna but I didn't reject Natasha so she could have a place to stay, a cursed wolf isn't good enough for you, you dont deserve that BITCH" TRANSITION INTO AN INSTANT ASS BEATING

-except Natasha is too much of a good woman and saves Mateo from getting hurt before Aiden hurts him that badly :/ gdi girl. He's literally been sexually assaulting and beating you. Idiot. Idiot. Absolute idiot. Nevermind, Mateo is correct Aiden IS too good for her. This dumb bitch actually starts up this "you're just the same as them, solving things with violence. This is MY fight" like obviously no it is not, you literally had a perfect escape plan put right in front of your face coupled with the opportunity to teach your abusers a lesson and you went "🥺 no I can't trust anyone I'll just flee into the night with no food or money or place to go" like obviously you were never intending to fight anything you were just going to run. Like I'm actually getting fucking furious she has the gall to talk to Aiden like this when she's literally been paraded around naked

-"no one has ever helped me or looked out for me so why would I trust you" idk maybe because it's literally your fucking destiny and within 5 seconds of meeting you he very quite literally said "I don't care if this pack bring in the most money in the country, I WILL burn it to the ground for whats been done to her" like you actual fucking moron Natasha, you are bringing me physical fucking pain like girl he's literally being morw supportive of you than your wolf

I'm at work right now and my earbuds died so I can't listen to any more while they're charging but, it's a pretty interesting story so far! I dunno if I'll listen to the end since it's over 100 chapters and that very easily gets expensive but, I'll stay tuned for now and share any juicy details with you guys :) I still have to finish my post about The Silent Alpha because oh my god guys that shit is getting WILD

These werewolf audiobooks are keeping me on my toes because I've listened to enough of them at this point that I'm not sure what to expect, specifically in terms of "is the POV significant"

I've read a lot of stories where only the Female Lead and Male Lead get POVs and the second you hear it's the pov of so and so, you know that person is the love interest. But I've also read stories where the POV switched for narrative storytelling, like showing the "guy who rejected the female protagonist" character have his life go down the tubes over what he did while the FL is off in love with someone new and better, or switching to a villain to let the reader know Something Big is about to happen, or switching to a friend of the protag

In an addictive craving for conflict and drama I picked up another "you rejected me" type of story, this one called True Luna, and I stg, the guy is all "I'm future alpha, and I love love love the female lead, she's so gorgeous and smart and kind and we grew up together and I've ALWAYS had feelings for her AND she turns out to be my mate, but she's PHYSICALLY WEAK and TOO YOUNG (shes 18) and I need a STRONG MATE so even though it breaks my heart to reject her, poor me, im gonna take someone else I don't love as my mate because it's for the good of the pack" and his reasons for rejecting her aren't even really valid and he even acknowledges she could get stronger with hard work, but there have been an increasing number of rogue attacks to the point they even have a 'king' so his reaction is all "and if she gets hurt, they might use her as a weakness against me, she couldn't defend herself either, this is protecting her"

Also you know what really burns me. This story explicitly states the mate bond can NEVER be broken. So like. This motherfucker is basically saying "I won't wait at all for you to try and prove yourself, have fun spending the rest of your life watching me with another woman while we both feel our bond" like I swear to fucking god if the actual real male love interest isn't someone else. She even hears her own fucking brother agreeing with this punk that "she isn't strong enough" and basically agreeing "yeah go ahead and reject her, it IS for the good of the pack". Wow. "Yeah I'm gonna be a motherfucker and put an assumption over the safety of my community over my actual sister"

She even turned down a guy who she WANTED to be her chosen mate who told her he loves her "because I want to wait and see if I find my fated mate" like girl take the time to heal obviously but. He's right there. You now have no obligation to wait, you both already love each other, just take the plunge my god 💀 if the real love interest isn't her friend OR even the Rogue King this story is an automatic drop, im not a fan of "we had a perfect friendship and I betrayed you and didn't communicate with you and now I come crawling back later and you fall in love with me" stories. I'm someone where, you burn me like that, you either get my malice or my apathy

More drama and deets about Heart of A Lycan King because it's the newest story I'm listening to and binging lol:

(Also, uh, I didn't realize this until now because i just listen, i dont read along as well: if you're hard of hearing and REQUIRE reading, I actually do not recommend DreameFM/Wehear at all, for any story. Apparently the transcriptions are done differently than whomever submits, like, the voice work, i think it might actually be auto generated, and I have been noticing for a while now that all of the stories are transcribed basically only half correct. There is, um, HORRIBLE PUNCTUATION? You'll literally have a paragraph that instantly transitions from speech, to whom is speaking, to back to speech with not a single " mark)

There are actually two different people speaking in this highlighted portion ("Aaron, I-" is Natasha, being cut off as her wolf continues). awful grammar and accessibility. Also pretty sure her wolf's name is Erin but whatever

-you know how before I said I wished Natasha would speak up about Mateo not deserving her? She did say after the Mateo ass beating that she accepted his rejection because she didn't want him and also legit spits on his face albeit it causes a misunderstanding. Natasha goes from Aiden to Mateo who is wounded on the ground and Aiden loses his temper thinking she's comforting and going back to him and he picks her up and puts her kicking and screaming in his car, but it turned out she had spit on his face and was about to tell him to go fuck himself before she planned to go willingly

-as someone who doesn't know a lot about African culture, I really like the level of representation in this story, and also of just POC in general, like for example Natasha meets Aiden's mother who serves her staple African foods that she hasn't gotten to eat since her parents died like kubewa and tuwon alkama (WHICH I HAD TO GOOGLE AFTER HEARING BY EAR BECAUSE THE HORRIBLE TRANSCRIPTI0NS DIDNT EVEN SPELL THEM RIGHT) and also talking about her traditional clothing, her ankara and bobo gown, and I had to, again, look it up by ear, but Natasha greets Mama with "Ina quanah" which is Hausa for "good morning"

- Natasha knowing Hausa turns out to be incredibly important. Her mother is from the same tribe as Aiden's mother which means Natasha is not the full blood of her wolf pack, the Malakarians (I think that's how it's spelled, the subtitles literally say "the Koreans" 🤦‍♀️). The reason this is good is apparently, Natasha's pack has some dark myth surrounding it that literally everyone else but them knows and apparently in the past there was some huge issue when a Malakarian mated with a Lycan? Like Aidens father instantly orders him to reject her?

-Aiden deadass says he will give up the throne before he gives up Natasha. Oh my god we must protect these two.

-you know how I said when I heard the love interests name was Aiden and I expected him to be white. Well, Aiden is actually his middle name that he uses to uh, im assuming combat racism and colorism unfortunately. His true first name is Amari but he prefers Aiden apparently? Like it's very casually glossed over that his name isn't actually Aiden, his mom briefly refers to him by his full name and Natasha does not react

-I was a little harsh on Natasha in my last post, she very obviously has been deeply affected by the years of abuse and trauma. She's the kind of person who will smile in your face and say "why would I be mad, as a lowly omega isn't it your right to XYZ to me" even if she's burning with rage inside, being submissive to avoid pain. Aiden is having to be insanely patient with her and even her wolf has to kind of mediate. I was also wrong on her wolf too. You wanna know why her wolf barely ever spoke to her? Her wolf wanted to protect her and just poured all her energy into healing her wounds and since Natasha was just constantly hurt and abused and even self harmed, Erin/Aaron could barely speak, and she was also just insanely hella depressed before Aiden came around and she gave herself a pep talk

-dude someone's been on some fuckery and I'm pretty sure it's either Mateo or, you know what actually, I bet it's Aiden's mom (who even tells Natasha to call her Mama). Know why? Natasha randomly goes into heat without being marked or anything, and Aiden is just "this is actually really not normal, someone literally had to induce this, you should not be in heat" and like. It's actually so hella uncomfortable. She is literally in physical pain, and eventually kinda flirty and delirious and is acting a complete 180 different for being horny (which tbh is kinda how i see heats in ABO but, another time lol). Like one minute she is literally crying saying she's in pain and begging him to touch her and the next she's "if I sit here obediently like you asked me to, what's my reward ;3" But as the green flag king he is, Aiden stands his ground "no this isn't right, you aren't in your right mind, you can't consent, someone did this to you" and like, he BRIEFLY touches "her button" as they call it but he stops and he only did it cause she was, you know, howling in pain. Actually you know what I fucking bet it was Mama because the only other answer is that Mateo drugged her and why would he. Mama literally brought her food. I got my eye on you, sneaky bitch

-Aiden literally pours boiling water on the penis of a man who tried to rape an omega and was completely unrepetant about it and refused to apologize. Goddamn dude. I'm all for it but also OUCH. And when Natasha sees Aiden with the Omega, she gets instantly jealous (even though he was bringing the Omega to see the same therapist as Natasha)

-Natasha is described as having the scent of "ice and wildflowers" while Aiden is "pinewood mixed with cedarwood" so, I guess this is one of those "you have hyper specific scents per person" kinda deals, like ABO writers do sometimes

-Mama acknowledges and agrees Natasha should have therapy to help with their relationship so I don't think she's the one that drugged Natasha. Sorry Mama my heart is weak and easily swayed by suspicion 😞

-Leo, Aiden's wolf, used some pretty colorful language while Natasha was in heat btw,, something something "my sack is about to burst, I could give her at least TEN pups" like goddamn dude she's actually still a virgin, chill out, but also lowkey hot lmao. He and Aiden just kind of constantly rib on each other. That seems to be a common theme, the wolves going "let ME talk to her and do this so you don't fuck it up, dork" kinda behavior, like a sibling maybe

-Aiden gets fucking possessive and tells Leo he can't call Natasha 'Nala' and to get his own nickname and Leo deadass responds, I'm gonna do this WORD FOR WORD:

He scoffed.

"Very poor, Aiden, very poor! You think Nala is a fitting name for her? You've GOT to be kidding me. I was merely helping you say the name so you can confirm the absurdity. Let me make myself clear: you are not allowed to call her MINE when you hear it, because, jokes on you, she'll love mine more than yours."

"In your dreams," I mutter under my breath.

"Just wait until she sees me in all my full glory and hear me call her with a name like no other. Then you'll see."

LIKE YOU FUCKING DWEEB ASS WOLF 😂 he's speaking with this fucking old man syntax and having the attitude of a child. "You said I can't call her your nickname? W-well I didn't wanna anyways, in fact, I'm gonna make a new one and it's gonna be better and she's gonna wanna hug and kiss me forever" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 this is definitely a nice change of pace from The Silent Alpha having Jack just straight up becoming a serial killing body snatcher. I can't wait to actually hear this nickname and it probably be the most roastable, goofy, basic bitch shit--

Follow up from this post about The Silent Alpha because wow this is wild (also this posr is long as fuck because i basically just started retelling the plot because it's entirely drama now lol:

-Vanessa is one determined bitch, you have to give her that. She actually gets her hands on black market werewolf venom because Christian refuses to turn her and she's read becoming a werewolf can sometimes heal old injuries and she thinks it can give her her fertility back (also she fucked the guy who sold it to her for a discount)

-Vanessa um. Is actually kind of justified for being the way she is. It's revealed that her and Natalia's parents always heavily favored Natalia for being smarter and more talented to the point Vanessa was just openly insulted. Like it gives us some flashbacks and Vanessa goes to show her mom a good report card, mom throws it on the table "what, you want a medal? You should be making the honor roll every time just like your sister. I didn't leave my country for you to not take advantage of your education" but then Vanessa joins the cheer squad and her mother still has no time for her? Just always comparing her to Natalia? And then you know what happens? Vanessa, needing some praise and recognition, goes to a party and winds up getting roofied and raped by a college boy, and after her experience, which she never even told a single person about btw, it traumatized her and she became sexually promiscuous to "erase every single trace that he ever touched me. Sex became like a transaction to me. It's something i can use to my benefit" LIKE Y'ALL THAT'S LITERALLY TRAUMA? I can't exactly sitting here boiling with rage "oh wait youre telling me the big bad villain is a girl who was neglected in her childhood, raped as a teenager, shoved aside as a young adult, and then had her heart shattered as her love found another? Yeah no I actually want her to have something good come here way at this point" So I can 100% completely genuinely understand how Vanessa became this way.

-being hit with the venom, which was specifically supposed to be Alpha werewolf venom, sends her into a delirious coma (it's during this coma we see these glimpses into her past and it's kind of heartbreaking, it kind of just sounds like all she ever wanted was some recognition and praise) where she's fighting for her life for an undisclosed amount of time but it sounds like she's suffering really vivid out of body experiences of being stuck in pitch blackness and falling into water and. At the end of it all? She sees her wolf, a big beautiful strong wolf! Except the Moon Goddes appears and says PSYCH, bitch this WOULD HAVE been your wolf if you had trusted MY PLAN. I had a wolf and a mate who would have the patience and love for you all picked out and you ruined it girl!

-the moon goddess tells her straight up that, you know what, in fact I'm giving this Alpha wolf to your sister instead since you took her mate from her :) which uhhhh I feel like this raises some consent issues but maybe Natalia is going to ask Zane to turn her this time around and then she gets a wolf? But otherwise if Natalia just wakes up as a wolf someday I feel like that raises some red flags

-Vanessa wakes up and finds out Christian's Beta, Derek, is her mate now that she has a wolf. But he instantly pussies out and rejects her because she's the Luna and is already with Christian (even though Dereks wolf literally says outright 'but christian is just planning to replace her when he finds natalia, why dont we just take our mate? We literally dont even have to reject her dude' But Derek doesnt really want Vanessa after seeing what a snake she is). But like, was he supposed to be her mate the whole time? Why did they never feel the mate bond before? It's kind of a plothole

-Vanessa fucking JETS once Derek rejects her and leaves the room to speak with a nurse, who reveals, hey yo Vanessa is like magically healed and she's pregnant? (Presumably with the rogue werewolf's baby since Christian doesn't sleep with her anymore after finding out about Natalia being pregnant years ago) which btw means Vanessa doesn't even know she's pregnant either

-Derek goes to tell Christian that Vanessa is pregnant and Christiain outright tells Derek to kill Vanessa and the unborn pup "because Dakota is his only heir and Natalia is his true mate" like he's obsessed with getting Natalia back, meanwhile Natalia is rising Zane's dick and Dakota has started calling Zane his dad. Like Christian says straight up "get rid of that pup before Dakota and Natalia come back or so help me--"

-honestly? I feel bad for Vanessa. Yeah she did something really shittty and horrible but I understand it. Christian was actually a genuine source of support for her after a lifetime of being looked down on and she lost him to Natalia? I would kill myself. I find it kind of odd the moon goddess felt the need to say "oh, I had it all planned but you ruined it" like clearly it already wasn't working out? You literally mated Natalia with a piece of shit scumbag who wound up betraying her, was that part of the plan too? Like is the moon goddess implying Vanessa is responsible for Christian's actions and that this sort of scenario never would have happened without Vanessa? That Christian never wouod have cheated? That feels like bullshit and doesn't make Christian take accountability at all? And how long is Vanessa supposed to wait for her happiness, for this oh so sacred plan? She's a grown woman in her twenties, like how long is she supposed to wait. I find it a little um insulting and deflective that the story is framed as Vanessa getting her just desserts when it's like uh, actually she had a pretty valid reason for being bitter and a snake, she was literally put down her entire life. Like she's literally a product of her environment? Was it Vanessa's fault her mom treated her like shit and called her an idiot to her face? And really tbh, how good even is moon goddess' oh so beloved plan if you can. Knock it off track. Spoiler alert but if you can uh change your destiny it's not actually your destiny. So. Idk?

-I'm still real bitter about Vanessa actually. Moon G is like "I'm still going to give you a wolf tho, she isn't much but you can become strong together if you work hard" nd Vanessa's new wolf is like small and brown and pitiful and we don't even hear her speak or learn her name unlike the first wolf who literally spoke up and introduced herself, to be honest I'm not sure if the new brown wolf CAN speak? (Edit: Nevermind, its a plot point that humans cannot speak to their new wolves until they are marked which is lowkey really stupid tbh) And isn't it kind of a punishment for this innocent wolf spirit to be given to Vanessa? Unless the wolf spirit is also on some sort of probation? I actually read another story once where when a werewolf dies they burn the body so the wolf spirit can go back to the moon goddess and be reborn again so idk, maybe these are old spirits or something 🤔

-this is, like, a graphic sex audiobook by the way. They give you the whole menagerie of "cunt, pussy, pussy folds, wet hole, hard cock" there's a queef at one point that becomes a recurring joke, like, some of these stories have no erotic, some of them have tasteful erotic, and some of them get naaaaaaasty, like I think literally the whiplash between chapter 3 is Natalia leaving her pack heartbroken and chapter 4 immediately beginning with having Christian fucking Vanessa in graphic detail like it literally transitions from Natalia being betrayed and heartbroken to Christian nose deep in her sister

-backstabbing pussy Gamma Jordan is sent to find out where Natalia was living and gains the trust of her coworkers to get her number and warn her that Christian is going feral and is coming for her and Dakota, as well as Vanessa being infertile

-Christian contacts motherfucking WITCHES to track Dakota and Natalia down because he's too impatient to wait for Jordan. The witches perform a ritual with blood and Natalia's hairbrush and say the God of Chaos heard their plea and can find his family "for a hefty price"

"I can give you all the money you need"

"No, not money, blood"

"Whose?"

"Your mother's"

-I have to briefly go out of the order of events to bring up that like 10 chapters later, Christian does in fact kill his own mother and it's CHILLING. His mother, Kay, is genuinely scared and worried for him and asks him out for a run. They shift and are running and playing tag and he's remembering his childhood and he's legitimately fucking broken. He and his mother stop and she tells him she just wants to help, that hes sick, and it's emphasized that he's very meek and quiet while he asks "do you really think I'm sick mom ..?" Like he's actually considering some sort of help

Do you remember how before I mentioned that I felt bad for his wolf Jack. No. No. No. JACK IS THE TRUE VILLAIN OF THIS STORY. Christian is literally being held by his crying mother while Jack is going "KILL HER, SHE TOOK YOUR MATE, SHES A LIAR, KILL HER" and I can't remember if Jack takes over or not but, Christian kills his mother and takes her body back to the witches to perform the ritual and btw the main witch basically makes it obvious she's judging the fuck out of him, literally looking him up and down like "so you actually did it" like yeah girl he's clearly fucking crazy

-knowing Christian is coming after her actually gives Natalia the courage to fully devote herself to her own happiness and she tells Zane to mark her THAT NIGHT (which means a lot since she's been refusing to be marked up to this point because of the trauma of Christian. -theres a B plot about like Zane's pack and family and how his mother is still alive and there's gonna be a war because one of the werewolf kings is evil, Zane's dad Sebastian killed the wife of one of his enemies, Toren Ravenstone, his enemy responded by killing Zane's mom, who, resurrected while her body was being brought back to Ravenstone for unknown reasons besides "the moon goddess must have had a plan" and she lost her memory and fell in love with the guy trying to get revenge, so Zane finds out not only is his mom alive but is like married to the man who technically killed her, and also that "Mr big evil villain" is actually way nicer and more chill to his mom than his father ever was

-I literally never brought this up because i was waiting for it to like actually be important but ages ago Natalia's witch friend who helped her deliver Dakota was like "just trust me, I need you and Kota to get on a plane, you're in danger, just trust me" and Zane, Natalia, and Dakota were flown to California where Aurora, protagonist of the first book and the Ivory Queen of the werewolves lives. It's been like idk over 20, 30 chapters and we still don't know why Gwen said they needed to come "because i cant tell you yet, just trust me". Like it's keeping them safe from Christian but like we've spent a quarter of the book in this gd palace and we still don't know why, it feels very plot convenience-y, im getting annoyed because at this point Aurora from book 1 is becoming a weird plot device "oh how convenient the protagonist from the first book is our friend now and she's also super cool and powerful"

(Edit, it really still isn't relevant yet. Apparently there's a plot twist that Natalia may not be 100% human and have fae-enchanted blood that protects her species from vampires and guess what emergency Gwen needed them to evacuate for. Vampires. But up to the most current chapter, it doesn't really play any part of the story)

-so the b plot with Zane is a little complicated. He's an Alpha heir but his father is an asshole and cast him out, demoted him to Omega before making him a rogue, and Zane was replaced by another heir and halfsibling, Caine, who HATES him because Caine's mom, well, stereotypical evil slut who came onto Zane who turned her down and she accused him of rape which his father knew wasn't true but let him be punished for anyways. So. Caine finds out he has a brother and he's alive and then finds out it's Zane, the accused rapist, and also hey before even knowing this information, his mom told him straight up "hey, KILL Zane actually? He's after your title as future alpha, you have to secure the right you have earned"

-so, Dakota has a nightmare that is vaguely implied to maybe be a premonition (edit: yeah lmao its later revealed to be actual visions) of "mommy getting hurt by a bad wolf and there was red water all over her" and to console him they try to take him to the park to see the butterflies and GETS SHOT AT, by Caine, who MISSES ZANE because hes a fucking idiot firing a revolver from a moving car, and hits Natalia, which at this point I'm thinking "are they gonna have to turn her to save her life"

-yes and no. While she's in, you know the injury coma, that's when the moon goddess has a chat with her, gives her a wolf and stuff

-in this series, all werewolves have unique gifts, it's some real like MHA Quirk bullshit sometimes. Zane is a mindreader/empath who can share memories and actually like mindcontrol people into obeying him, and other people do things like, turn into sand, create hallucinations, create illusions that can fight, it can be kind of dumb lmao kinda just reminding me of the werewolf alpha Bakugou x Reader thing I wanna write lol

-Zane's wolf Grayson doesn't fuck around fighting with Caine (Natalia isnt turned until after the fight so he's worried she's dying and can feel that she is through the bond). "Take that revolver and let's play Russian Routlette" except, you know, not taking the gun from him, using the mind control powers to make him pull the trigger until Caine is dead

-Natalia loses consciousness and enters this kind of dream where she thinks she's dead and her exact reaction is to be sad she can't be with Zane and Dakota anymore but "she can rest knowing her son had a father that will raise him with love" like she loves both of them so much 🥺❤️ like she actually thinks of that and it brings her so much peace she basically accepts her death like I'm crying?? What the fuck??? She's falling through the same black nothingness, breaking away into blue skies, and then falling into water and having to swim to the surface and finding herself in the middle of the lake with a voice calling her to the shore. And guess what. This is the exact same fever dream Vanessa had when she turned

-yeah, Natalia meets a silver wolf who takes her to the moon goddess herself. She doesn't realize who she's talking to amd basically tells her straight up she doesn't believe in fate, she makes her own fate, and moon goddess kind of drags out actually introducing herself. All wolves, the ones werewolves have at least, are vessels filled with souls and love created by the moon goddess personally. She basically handcrafts every wolf and every mate to every person's destiny and Natalia's just like "why did you let Christian hurt me then, I loved him and trusted him, and I trusted YOU" and reads her for filth and asks why she can't just leave her alone

-honestly moon goddess kind of personally encapsulates the pompous holy figure attitude "I do the best I can" fake apology bullshit that makes religion really crawl under my skin. She says she can try and teach the wolves but humans have free will and she can't control everything but like... her apology, which isn't an apology, is more self pitying about how it hurts her as a mother to see wolves suffer. She picked Natalia for Jack because she thought it would balance Jack's temper out (oh so Natalia has to be sacrificed to fix Jack's fucking problems???) but also she KNEW Christian was flawed and hoped he would change, and she also expected Jack to help protect the mate bond which he didn't, so im just sitting here like, why would you even create this sort of mate bond system if it is so flawed and easy to go wrong. Why are you dragging HUMANS into this if you're supposed to be the werewolves god.

-also it should be noted that she is apparently specifically the moon goddess from Greek mythology because they later bring up the goddess of night being her mother, and also the God of chaos and, basically there are multiple gods

Like ok. Look at it this way. Moon Goddess is kind of playing matchmaker but she doesn't know the eventual outcome. But she's also. Implementing soul magic bullshit which can literally manipulate your thoughts and feelings and then saying "oh but I can't keep things from going wrong, I can ONLY SLIGHTLY ROB YOU OF FREE WILL" like, you're basically kidnapping and brainwashing people and playing sanctimonious about it??? You're kind of forcing people to fall in love and then saying "oh sorry I made it where you literally feel like incredible lightning when you touch and even looking at him makes your brain mass produce dopamine but he turned out to be an abusive prick who never respected you, lmao my bad, let me give you another attempt at a mate as my apology" like no leave me alone actually? You're creepy? The mate bond has HORROR MOVIE potential???

-apparently there's a mandatory dress code in this magical dream world, which I'm theorizing is the moon goddess' realm, because both Vanessa and Natalia find themselves wearing white dresses in these dreams, and in book 1 Aurora had dreams where she entered a realm and wore white dresses but I can't go into that without spoiling some of book 1 💀

-after Natalia wakes up and spills what the MG told her, and mentions that the moon goddess mentioned her wolf was blessed by the goddess of night, the moon goddess' mother, and, Aurora investigates and goes to get Gwen who would know more about rhe Night Mother and, apparently Natalia is probably something called a Latum human, which is a human with special blood that was once enchanted by a fae to protect his human lover from vampires drinking their blood and basically created a new race of demihumans and Natalia is just now finding out she's not 100% "home grown organic human" and that even her wolf is unusual

-GIIIIIRL Natalia's wolf is a SLUT but like we get it. Her and Zane are marking each other because the b plot about Zanes old pack means he kinda lowkey has to go to war, and her wolf, Davina, is talking to Grayson, and he's all tongue-tied, and she says "do you not like my mark?"

"Well, y-yeah"

"Then why aren't I cumming yet?" And "This clit isn't going to lick itself" GIIIIRRRLLLLLL

-so anyways, Christian brings the now dead Kay back to the witches, his father is blowing up his phone because he "can't feel his mate" and can't find her and he's freaking out, he has no idea she's dead, and Christian is just emotionless like "wow I can't believe I did that. At least I get Natalia and Dakota back" meanwhile Jack has absolutely no remorse. So the witches complete the ritual and summons the God of Chaos, because, apparently, Kay's blood wasn't for the job itself, it was just to summon the God who will help, who communicates by possessing one of the witches

-the chaos God is a troll and is totally off their rocker. He's gonna help Christian but there's a new price now to actually DO the thing, and Chaos asks "what are you willing to give". Jack speaks up from inside of Christian and says "ANYTHING"

-MOTHERFUCKING CHAOS, this goddamn TROLL, takes JACK HIMSELF, PUTS HIM IN A MAGIC ROCK LIKE A POKEMON. Tells Christian "I took your wolf, bring your son and the medallion he will be wearing back to me by midnight or you'll NEVER get him back" and gives Christian the Jack-rock to hold onto. But also lmao, guess how he helps Christian find Natalia and Dakota. Touches his forehead and bro starts hearing VOICES who start trolling him but also telling him directions like they're basically like "turn right, MOMMYKILLER. You MOMMYKILLER, NEENER NEENER" like lmao they actually start driving him insane

-I shit you not, I shit you not, Christian is occasionally hallucinating because of the voices and looks at this hallucination of Dakota and Natalia that suddenly manifested in the backseat of his car and fake-Nat is cryiny and he thinks "for once I actually want to comfort her" bitch, what do you MEAN 'for ONCE'???? SO YOU BASICALLY DIDNT EVEN LIKE HER THAT MUCH ANYWAYS???? EVEN BEFORE SHE COULDNT CONCEIVE????

With every passing chapter that reveals what an even bigger piece of shit Christian is, I can't help but wonder how the moon goddess could have fucked up THIS badly, like now that Natalia is gone he is obsessed but even when reflecting on the past he acknowledges that he was basically ALWAYS a bastard to her.

-fucking loser ass Christian does all this shit to get his family back and you know what happens? He kidnaps Dakota from a play center and he doesn't even have a car seat for him, so he's laying Kota flat in the seat and buckling him in while the voices are literally jeering "child endangerment! We've got father of the year over here!" Which, agreed! You can kill your own mom but not get your toddler a car seat? idiot!!

-Christian takes the medallion back to Chaos and oh my god this guy's hilarious. He's like "oh yeah, to get your wolf back, just smahs the rock he's contained in and call out to him" and Christian is just like "wait do you mean I could have gotten him back at any time" and Chaos is like "LOL YEAH I WAS JUST FUCKING WITH YOU" LMAOOOOOO

-oh my god. Oh my gosh. I never saw this twist coming and its actually SO GOOD. Actually kind of scary too. Christian is calling out to Jack, and he just hears growling and laughing? And then??? JACK TAKES FULL CONTROL. CHRISTIAN GETS ACTUALLY FUCKING BODY SNATCHED, HIS SUBCONCIOUS THROWN INTO A MENTAL CAGE, AND JACK SAYS HE IS NEVER LETTING HIM OUT EVER AGAIN. Christian LITERALLY cannot do anything anymore, it's all Jack, in full control, and now that he has Dakota, he's coming for his Natalia, his mate, his Tiny

And that's kind of where the story is so far, with the side character who was babysitting Dakota, Agnes, being unconscious because Christian roofied her and is unable to tell Natalia that Dakota has been taken, meanwhile Zane is literally on an island in Ravenstone territory fighting CHEMICAL WARFARE with his father's pack. Definitely a nail biting cliffhanger and I hope there aren't too many more chapters to go 😩

I'm probably going to tune in for a few more chapters but I'm dropping True Luna already so, here's my synopsis/ragging on that I guess lmao. Honestly thank god it turned out to rub me the wrong way because it's over 100 chapters and momma needs to save her chapter-unlock coins for some REAL juicy shit kwim

(Is it just me or do the eyes on the woman seem. Off)

-I picked this story up because it was a rejection story, like I was on YouTube and got an ad for chapter 3 when she is rejected, and I'm dropping it because she's apparently falling in love with the rejector who i think is a coward honestly. I'm 26 chapters in and trust me, if there was another love interest, he would've appeared by now and they wouldn't be focusing so heavily on the rejector, Logan

-plot is this: protagonist Emma is the sister of the pack Beta, Andrew (shit they never even give the pack a name now that I think about it). Their parents were killed by rogues when Emma was little and her brother had to help raise her and they grew extremely close, im talking after their parents died they shared a bed for a whole year because Emma was too anxious and traumatized to fall asleep alone. Along with Andrew, there is also her friends Jacob and Amy, as well as the Alpha Logan, and his and Andrew's childhood friend, Sienna

-Sienna is this tale's white lotus aka the girl who's super sweet when people are around and an absolute demon when she's alone with Emma. She calls Emma names and insults her, but when Emma tried to tell Andrew in the past when it began years ago... he accuses her of being jealous of his childhood friend, the whole 9 yards of "just because I'm spending time with her and not you doesn't mean you're not still my sister"

-you would think like, they would respect Emma enough to put two and two together, "hey Emma isn't a dishonest person, even if she doesn't like Sienna she doesn't blatantly make things up" like Emma, as the pack Beta's sister, is in a sort of semi-authoritative position and has been studying pack law and rules and training for years to be as strong as she can for her pack, like her friend Jacob is a warrior who helps train her in secret and the current Luna, Logan's mom, is like a mother to her and thinks she's a great pack member like lowkey that's her adopted daughter

-before I get further I should mention the weird relationship dynamics. Emma is in some sort of, I don't even know if they're having sex but she's having some sort of relationship with Jacob and he openly tells her he loves her, but they haven't found their fated mates yet and chosen mates are looked down upon. Emma wants to give herself a little more time to see if she finds her fated mate before choosing Jacob, which is who she would have chosen if she had a brain and she even admits she loves him. Meanwhile, in her internal thoughts, she also admits that she wouldn't mind being Logan's mate and saying how well they match up with each other

-also. Uh. They say in this pack, the pack elders and such frown on chosen mates but. Like. It's kind of quietly snuck in there that people in the pack do still, you know, have casual sex and stuff, and I feel like that's extremely contradictory? Not to circle back around to my opinions on "if my fated mate was running around having tons of sex instead of like waiting for me" buuuut.... Emma even says she would be sad if her mate was a player who's been with a lot of girls

-so on your 18th birthday is when you get your wolf and earn the pack mindlinking powers and all that. Only those you invite to your first shift are allowed to attend, so she goes with Amy, Jacob, Andrew, and the Luna, and when Emma shifts, she is a pure white wolf, which is unheard of as all white wolves have colored spots or at least different colored paws. Her wolf's name is Eliza.

-sigh. After both wolves have had their first shift is when you can sense your mate and all that. Emma is, in her own home, which by the way, brief detour, because Sienna is Logan and Andrew's childhood friend the bitch is constantly in Emma's house so she can't even be comfortable when she's at home, but, she's in her room and she hears a knock on the front door and goes downstairs, descending the stairs and "smelling the most delicious scent I had ever experienced", she comes face to face with. Logan. Who is visibly tense and even looking angry which confuses her because she can tell the moment they lock eyes that theyre fated mates. Andrew tells her to go to her room and she complies but stays at the top of the stairs to eavesdrop

-I wouldn't describe it exactly like 'incestuous' but I personally really do not like how her brother uh infantilizes her tbh, like if i were to look at this from a human perspective i would say he struggles to separate from his role as her guardian (as in parent) and protector once she becomes an adult. Technically she just turned 18 and that's still young right but that IS a legal adult, and Andrew literally has a conversation with Jacob about how he can't chose Emma as his mate, that Emma is young and needs a few years just to see if she can find her fated mate, and I'm just sitting here extremely uncomfortable because there are SEVERAL TIMES Andrew uh, basically, I don't even know if it's because of pack rank or duty or whatever but there are multiple conversations with Andrew basically guarding her chastity??? Hes hsing language like "i wont allow it/id be ok with that" like she needs his permission or some shit and Emma is 18 and can make her own choices thank you??? It's kind of gross her biological brother is talking to men behind her back about how HE won't allow her to do this or that and he's. Talking about her having relationships?

It's controlling and creepy in my opinion like if you asked me to write a hypothetical platonic yandere sibling figure, I would choose a sibling who controls who you hang out with and doesn't let you date at all and just, eugh it just grosses me out. Even later in the story a character looks at Andrew because they were talking about Logan rejecting Emma and this person says "and you LET that happen?" Uhhhhhhh not to defend Logan but he had his own choice, so like why is the tone of the conversation "oh Andrew gets to pick and choose his baby sister's mate" as if Andrew could even decide whatever the fuck Logan does too

-anyways Emma overhears them talking and the conversation is so fucking stupid. There have been increasing rogue attacks and they even have a leader, called only the Rogue King, coordinating large attacks and the pack needs to be strong more than ever. Logan claims Emma is too young to lead as Luna and not physically strong enough, even though when it switches to Logan's POV he outright admits he loves her and thinks she's beautiful and cool and all that. he, in my opinion, decides to be a little pussy and "oh, I must do what's best for the pack, SIENNA will make a better Luna" and I think he's fucking her anyways so. Emma overhears her own brother agree and say she isn't strong enough even though Emma has been secretly training with Jacob and is actually much stronger than they think. And uh. Gee the rejection is still the DAY OF her birthday. Like I'm on chapter 26 and all thats taken place in like a week, in between a couple days before Emma's birthday up until like 3 days after

-the rejection honestly fucks up her mental health so bad she doesn't eat or sleep for 2 days straight even though she tries, she just lies in bed staring at the ceiling having racing thoughts because her brother and her mate don't believe her and her bully is threatening to exile her when she becomes Luna, which, after Logan chooses Sienna as future Luna she escalates and outright states she could have Emma killed and make it look like an accident

-because she is so stressed and sleep deprived, Emma gets visibly scratched and beat up during a training. Her internal monologue is that her brother and Logan will see her extremely rare temporary weakness and it will enforce their opinion she's some fragile loser and they made the right choice. She is entirely correct and it is so fucking depressing, like the author honestly kind of went too deep in having them just genuinely look down on her for me to like either of them, I was listening to this story legitimately wishing Emma would leave the pack entirely to get rid of Logan AND her brother like I am still, genuinely, genuinely, hoping like the rogue king or some fucking idk lycan will show up and Emma gets a new mate but, I can tell it isn't happening

-there is so much I genuinely don't like about Logan. A lot of stories describe the mate bond being able to make you more jealous and possessive or Alphas being excessive about it but there are times when Logan is growling because "oh no a MALE is near MY MATE" and its just in really GENUINELY INAPPROPRIATE TIMES like when Emma is getting examined by A DOCTOR BECAUSE SHE'S INJURED and even HER OWN BIOLOGICAL BROTHER. Like Emma zones out during a training and doesn't block a hit and she gets two of her ribs broken and btw Logan can feel things through the mate bond so of course they come bug her when she is already tired and stressed and cranky and doesn't want to see them

-"oh no Emma is too tired and weak to walk home" cue Logan insisting it's him and stopping her friend Jacob from doing it "because no man will touch my mate blah blah blah" like fuck you I am literally the Reader and even I don't want you touching her. Why not have her brother carry her. Just another obligatory forced touch to further brainwash them both with the mate bond

-I really don't like a lot of Logan's internal dialogue either, or perhaps it's the way packs are written in this story. Everything has an air of... no free will? A cult that beats you down and leaves no room for you to decide for yourself? Alpha commands can physically force you to do and say things and they can even make them hurt, and Logan occasionally will think shit like "he can't speak to me like that. He'll be punished for this". great example is before Emma breaks her ribs but after her birthday, once when theyre alone, Sienna shows up and mocks Emma "i always wanted to see the face of the pathetic bitch whos opportunity as Luna i was taking away (as in whomever turned out to be Logan's mate regardless), but its a treat that its you!" and mocking her for being rejected while Emma is trying to stay calm.

Sienna pushes and pushes until Emma finally calls her a bitch and oh no, that's when Logan and Derek magically conveniently come in to berate Emma and Sienna whips out the fake tears, "oh she must not be taking this whole mate thing well, im sorry, it's not her fault she just needs more time, although not to be mean, she DID just insult her future Luna 🥺" and apparently even just something as small as that, Emma calling Sienna a bitch, is worthy of 'a punishment' because, even though Sienna is not even officially Luna yet, because she is going to be Luna IN THE FUTURE, Emma has to be punished for... oh no calling her a mean name? Logan literally tells Andrew or says internally, "she'll have to be punished later"

-the very next day Sienna comes into her bedroom and basically breaks healing ribs a second time. She tells Amy and Jacob, who she always tells about being abused, but she lies to Andrew and Logan because she knows they won't believe her. Like. It made me want to cry, Emma has been called weak and been rejected and her brother won't believe her and he asks "why won't you talk to me? What's wrong?" And she just quietly asks "why don't you believe me about Sienna" and he just. Shuts her down with his fake support "you just need to give her a chance, she's really great, I don't know why you're doing this but blah blah blah" I legitimately wish she would have abandoned her brother and left him with nothing but he helped raise her and they're traumabonded

-ugh. So. It's minor but I still hated it: Emma is angry and upset and stressed and wants to be alone and her brother essentially forces himself into her bed to sleep beside her to help her sleep like she was younger. It does help her and she still loves her brother but to me as the reader this was infuriating because from my standpoint she is literally not being allowed to make any decisions for herself in any way whatsoever and can't even have space in her own fucking house, in her own fucking BED?

-wanna know the biggest reason why I'm so mad. Wanna know. Because Sienna's abuse escalates even further. Sienna has Emma KIDNAPPED by a rogue with every intention of having her killed after Logan marks Sienna, because once he's formed a new mate bond he won't be able to sense Emma being. Raped and then murdered. Like Sienna says it outright that the rogue can do whatever he wants once she gets marked. And you know what Sienna's plan is. It makes me want to fucking shake. She has the rogue beat her up and runs back to Logan and Andrew and claims "I didn't even do anything, Emma just saw me and screamed I took Logan from her and she attacked me"

INSTANTLY, NO HESITATION, BEWILDERED AND SHOCKED BUT THEY BELIEVE HER just throw both goddamn men away at this point smfh

Logan is one thing but her own fucking brother who helped raise her???? Like Sienna's master plan is to claim Emma said she'd rather be a rogue than have Sienna as a Luna. Andrew and Logan don't believe THAT PART, because her parents were killed by rogues and that would DEVASTATE Andrew, but they both 100% accept at face value that Emma must have attacked Sienna who is literally described as having a large wound on her head. Like. It drives me fucking crazy. Emma is restrained and dosed with wolfsbane, eventually going to be killed, and meanwhile Logan is all "she has to be punished for attacking Sienna but I won't allow her to become a rogue" uh to be honest I think being forced to stay in a pack where an Alpha can literally basically mindcontrol you and finds it fit to assault you for hurting his feelings would be worse than being a rogue "but wolves are pack creatures, social animals, we have to live in communities or else we get lonely and could go crazy" and you all obviously treat each other SO well don't you 🙄

-Jacob mans up and tells Andrew and Logan to their faces that Emma tried to tell them so many times about what was happening and they never believed her. He says outright, "if Emma dies the blood is on both of your hands" meanwhile Logan is just thinking like "I should kill him for disrespecting the alpha" nd Andrew just breaks his nose and it's like, awwww are you mad because he's entirely correct? Poor delicate insecure little wolves

And guess what. Before Logan and Andrew were alerted about Sienna being "attacked" they were literally having a meeting with another Alpha (who by the way? Biggest fucking cockblock. They mention his name as early as like chapter 4 or 5 and I was getting excited because it was so early in the story I thought "oh she was just rejected and now another Alpha is suddenly visiting, he's her second chance mate" but nope.) and this Alpha's name is Drake and his Beta is Josh (dont think i dont see what you did there) and Drake is like "hey we captured a rogue and interrogated him and he told us the rogue king's goal is there's a prophecy or some shit of a powerful shewolf mated to an Alpha, A TRUE LUNA, who draws power from the love of her pack, who will be strong and wise and lead like no other Luna, her pack will be truly strong and she will birth a new, stronger generation of wolves and the rogue king wants her as his mate and also we hear she's supposed to be pure white?"

So, brief pause because I especially hate the emphasis that she's destined to birth a new generation or whatever because I personally am against uhhhhh her being used as a glorified breeding whore after she was rejected for perceived weakness "oh we treated you like shit BEFORE EVEN GIVING YOU A CHANCE TO PROVE YOURSELF but now that you're strong and convenient to us now we want lots of babies out of you" fuck off, like genuinely

In a better story Logan would have his nose rubbed in the pissed stain carpet of his failure of rejecting Emma when she takes another mate and he finds out too late that he had a strong wise Luna right beside him all along, but no, before Sienna pulled her kidnapping fuckery, they had a brief make-out session at a party and, she's obviously falling for the bond and all that and I refuse to read this to the end 🙄 I don't like Logan, I don't like Andrew, I really don't like that from a narrative standpoint Logan is not actually really suffering any consequences for what he did, he just gets to, hurt Emma and throw her away and then he gets rewarded with her anyways? Geez. I keep finding good stories that have actual female empowerment and they lull me into a false sense of security and I wind up being disappointed when I find things like this 😩
