Weesp also contains a museum, which can be accessed for the princely sum of €5, allowing you to see such wonders as all the ads for van Houten chocolate and a bunch of prints alongside actual artwork. It was a more interesting building than museum - the former town hall before Amsterdam annexed the place - which is reflected in my photographs. The dungeon was at least worth a couple of jokes.
Also, as with much of the Netherlands, half the town felt like it was under construction, which made me nostalgic for Melbourne.

Bernardus van Schijndel - Woman making pancakes -
Bernardus van Schijndel (1647–1709) was a Dutch Golden Age painter of small scale genre works.
According to Houbraken, he was a Haarlemmer who lived alongside Reinier (Richard) Brakenburg (1650–1702) in Leeuwarden for a period, where he taught Jelle Sibrandsz, a young painter who later travelled to Italy in 1669.
Though Houbraken wrote that he was the same age, with the same birthplace, and painted in the same style as Brakenburg, he was actually a few years older and was born in Weesp, not Haarlem. He married Lysbet Sanderius in 1677, near Weesp in the town of Diemen, but is registered as living in Leeuwarden from 1671 to 1696. He must have moved to Haarlem sometime after that, which is where he died.

I keep thinking about "wauce" and I asked mom what's the funniest way she could think of to mispronounce wasp and she said "weesp" XD
Earlier I said "wahps". Mainly because I can't pronounce certain words properly all the time but also partially because not saying wasp correctly is something my broken humor has grown fond of. There was another wasp stuck in my room. No clue how they keep getting in but they're a lot nicer than the ants and don't behave like a nuisance in the hundreds or do vile acts while I attempt to sleep like the ants do so I'm fine with a wasp getting in every few days.
But I look at the funny little dude buzzing around and point at the door while saying "Wahps. It will be safer for you outside. Go the away"
and I can't help but to think it was funny
