Saturday morning mat! We worked slow and deep today. Here, we’re looking for segmental rotation of the spine. Rotation feeds the discs and is important for spinal health. Overactive hips, tight pelvic floor, compressed rib rings and shoulder “muck” can get in the way of really great spinal rotation. In this popular “threading true needle” exercise, we’re working to connect and stabilize the trunk while encouraging segmental movement in the vertebrae. Sometimes we have to go slowly to become aware of tension/holding and find more optimal movement. It’s a process.
