I'm gonna be honest this shit just reminds me that ccs will do anything to keep the fame on them. It reminds me of dsmp and the fact that half the people there just didn't like Dream, but pretended they did for clout. It truly just.... makes me sad at how fake some of these people are. They're willing to fuck over the working class people (which what most of them were before) just to get a bit more clout from this damn server that is known for treating it's staff like shit and then when they try and to actually get paid everyone gets fired.
Like I get the ex workers not being as aggressive due to being young fans plus being harassed by the current ones. Older ccs not seeing the obvious sketchyness of this all just seems like their putting on their blindfolds to keep their current fanbase and popularity.
i know we should learn our lesson by now about cc not being such a close friends after all but honestly the part of georges 2nd respons when he talk about how hes looking back at interactions with other cc differently now fucked me over a little bit bc dteam came into this community so open and willing to share and wanting to make friends. dream was so eager to just add friend of a friend into dsmp, he created that massive document for tommy. even at the con george saw caiti as a friend - according to him of course - just another person that is similar to him. you can dislike dt attitude, you can dislike dream ego and georges not being able to be serious for 5 minutes or sapnaps competitiveness. but making them bad guys only bc they have negative, human traits, and happened to also get popular is just so, so sad
i hope they will be able to hold on real friendships and they there are some more in them. im actually glad that it seems that dteam has some friends outside cc sphere and i hope they keep them grounded and make them feel loved. by the end of a day everyone deserves that

hi! sorry if you've gotten this question before but im curious about the plot. will it all revolve around the detective investigating the main serial killings or will we be helping them investigate other things as well kind of like in hannibal?
a little bit of both. i’ll try to explain as much as i can without spoiling much:
the chapters will be a mixture of: the general backstory of the people MC will target + the whole process of how MC will lure or kidnap them before killing + the investigation which will take place. there will be times when the investigations will hit too close to him, but that’s where MC’s general charisma and intelligence comes in to divert or straight up thwart any progress made by the detective.
vivienne (bless her heart) will be one of the factors on how you even hear of some of the most outrageous confessions and plight of people since she’s connected to the psychiatric department. J and sebas will, at least at first, be the unsuspecting accomplices to your escapades and even when J does eventually find out (either by you or by themself), they’ll jump on the chance to help you. note that sebas’s role will be more of a secret card for now so 🫢
the only antagonistic characters, as per the MC, are the people who are investigating the more confusing disappearances. you can take the detective as the antagonist for the MC as it’s their posting in the town which will set the ball rolling. of course, it’s gonna be extra angsty if you’re romancing them and they find out that you were the killer all along, but you’ll still be able to manipulate them into accepting that you did it for the greater good of the world.

so.. reading and looking at your fics and art kinda makes me wanna try my hand at some stuff too (they are just so beautiful and elicit so many feels), but. you seem so knowledgeable and familiar with tolkien/elves lore (and so does everyone else i've started reading in this community of elf-lovers on tumblr haha) and i'm most assuredly not. i don't get so many of the world-building allusions authors make about the history/culture/magic, which is easy enough to deal with when reading, but do you think i'd be able to write anything good with such limited understanding of the world i'm writing in? i'm not even confident enough for modern au's because idek that much about the character's relationships/connections with each other, y'know? but what do you think? would the holes i have or straight up inaccuracies rly weaken the story and interrupt the reader's connection to the world/character's, or could i still get by? tolkien's worldbuilding is so intimidating lol
Oh my goodness, this is such a sweet ask.
I'm really glad that you love my art and writing so much, and I consider it SUCH a huge compliment that it inspires you to make your own! That's what it's all about, honestly.
So first off I just want to address the anxiety around the lore-knowledge and the Tolkien fandom because listen listen listen, there are people of every level of knowledge creating art and fics here. Let me just say that when I first published And the Stars Shine the Same three years ago, I was mostly working off of film knowledge and some vague book knowledge, and I was petrified to post it because of how intimidating the Tolkien fandom seemed. I was so worried about getting this wrong and making mistakes -- so know that you're not alone in that, and it is a very common anxiety in this fandom. The thing is, when I posted that fic I found that people loved it, and that everyone was so nice, and really I have not had anybody (save maybe...one person off the top of my head) get very nitpicky about the lore/language/etc. Everybody else was very nice, loved the fic, and super receptive and friendly.
I promise you that there are so many lovely people in this fandom and that, while they're extremely knowledgeable they're also so friendly. Nearly everybody I know would be delighted if you came into their inbox and asked them a question about their specific area of interest with regards to the Silm and LOTR. There are amazing resources in this fandom, and everybody is very happy to help when asked. When I was getting started I mostly talked to friends, looked at other fanart (because honestly there is a LOT of information packed into how people portray characters in fanart for this fandom), and when I wasn't sure on something I just checked the wikis. I believe Tolkien Gateway is one of the best resources, though I also use The One Wiki to Rule Them All, and this is one of the best resources I've found for just a quick look at common Sindarin phrases, and for everything else I use Parf Edhellen which is an incredibly comprehensive dictionary for Tolkien's various elvish languages. And if you're not sure on something, just send a call out into the void because there are dozens of besties on Tumblr who are happy to offer suggestions for names or phrase translations. There's also so much information on Youtube.
I didn't even get around to reading the Silm and rereading LOTR until I felt like it. Honest to god I looked at the wikis and asked friends for most of the stuff I needed.
And I know how intimidating it can be to build your own story within Tolkien's world, but for me what I liked so much about his work is that--- while he is specific on some things, he's also very vague on others. There is a lot of room for interpretation and your own headcannons and worldbuilding. That was part of why I chose the historical spot I did for Stars and Boundless Sky, because it was sort of "dead space" so to speak with regards to Tolkien's own worldbuilding, and so I was able to play around and do my own thing without worrying too much about stepping all over lore.
But okay, all of that to say: yes you can write good stories without being super knowledgeable. Please believe me you can. You can write whatever you want, so long as you love it, and it is yours. If you have a story you want to tell in Tolkien's little legendarium then please, please do. Tolkien's legendarium is a mythology, and mythologies are meant to be retold and reinterpreted. Tolkien's canon is incredibly loosy-goosey. There are parts of unfinished tales where Christopher Tolkien wrote: "I really couldn't make sense of my dad's notes, so here's everything. Knock yourself out ig" (notably, "Of Galadriel and Celeborn").
And Peter Jackson was fairly faithful when it comes to the og trilogy. Like there are things that I take issue with that are pet peeves of mine, and I know that's the same for a lot of people as well. Everybody has their things they take umbrage with and things they like, but generally if that's your base for knowledge you're going to be just fine to start writing fic. If you decide you want to research more, then that's up to you and the story you are trying to tell! If you're working off of the Hobbit films, that's a little different, but in general the Hobbit fandom is pretty chill when it comes to that. I would suggest reading the book if you can find the time to. It's an easy read and short, and it is very, very different to the films.
With the LOTR books...I know a lot of people are book purists and that's okay, and a lot of people go "oh you really SHOULD read the books", but tbqh as a lover of both, I think the films do a good job of telling you the heart of the story (barring a few characters like...uh. Elrond, whom PJ absolutely butchers, but I digress sorry sorry). The books do add a lot and deepen the meaning for a lot of things, and flesh a lot of characters out (and they're just fun to read), but again... yes you can write good stories without being super knowledgeable. I will say that over and over again nonnie I am grabbing you by the shoulders and looking you dead in the eye: please write your story if you want to. Please do not be afraid to just give it a stab. If you find that your lack of knowledge is holding you back for some reason, just ask! So many people will be happy to answer your questions.
Fanfiction is for everybody. Tolkien is for everybody. You do not have to be the most incredible skilled writer or know the lore really well to be able to write it. Please believe me as a person who was scared to write for the Tolkien fandom and then fell in love: people really do not gatekeep much, and if they do they're assholes. I have met so many lovely, friendly, genuine people by creating stuff for this fandom. You will be okay.
So...ough this got long, sorry. But TLDR: Yes. You can write a good story. If you are worried about holes/the story/characterization getting weakened, try to find a beta reader. They're absolute life-savers. Barring that, start posting, find a friend who as insane about your blorbos as you are, and then share snippets and plot ideas with them and within that kind of community you can get a feel for what's working in your story and what isn't. All of my best friends I have made on here are people who read my fics and have been so helpful in offering suggestions.
There are many resources, everybody is friendly, it is not as scary as it looks. The most important thing is that you have fun. Write what you want to write. It doesn't have to be good. All that matters is that you enjoy it.

you see, when ray does drugs its his fault because hes making those choices, but when mew does drugs its also rays fault... even though mew is making those choices... but like, mews an Upstanding Member of Society or whatever so its different
and when boston gets pushy about top its gross because top told him to fuck off and he's sort of kind of with mew, but when top gets pushy about mew its sweet because.... mew told him to fuck off and he's sort of kind of with ray... but like, we all know sex is the only form of intimacy that requires consent, so its different
this fandom is a nightmare i swear
(bonus points to the people implying jail would've been totally deserved consequences for ray's crimes of being an addict and an asshole. this one isnt a hypocrisy thing, it just gives me hives)
THIS!!! its always a very specific type of topmew stans that says this shit and theyre so hypocritical its insane!!! its so infuriating because the show is actively putting in these parallels to draw conversation but its like people are closing their eyes and covering their ears and saying lalalala really loudly. like i genuinely do not understand how you can watch this show, this last episode especially, and come out of it with the idea that ray is evil and mew is a victim and totally innocent. you have to actively be ignoring parts of the show to draw that conclusion and its so weird i dont get it and i never will

Do you have recs for similar horror/spooky vibes as your IF? I just played Scarlett Hollow after reading of one of your posts, and obviously your IF is incredible, so I'm hungry for anything else you'd recommend. Books, movies, short stories, anything.
Ooooh I'm very excited and intimidated by this ask haha. Every time I'm asked for things I like I forget every piece of media I've ever consumed.
First off, thank you for the compliment; you're super sweet. And I hope you enjoyed Scarlet Hollow! It's one of my favorite games of all time <3
I'm gonna throw my recs under a cut because. Well. It Got Long.
For these recommendations, I'm going with a mix of similar vibes (small town/atmospheric/mystery) and also just stories that are really influential to me!!
Video Games: Oxenfree (amazing atmosphere, really fun mystery, strong character relationships), Control (stunning visuals, really cool creatures/lore, the way it plays with reality is just......), Slay the Princess (very much so a different type of horror, but by the same studio that made Scarlet Hollow and has incredible vibes). Honorable mentions to Silent Hill & Alan Wake; both are series I haven't personally played that I know have very similar vibes to my game!!
Other IFs: The Fog Knows Your Name (can't recommend this one enough, amazing vibes and a great mystery, genuinely one of my favorite IFs), The Passenger (eldritch horror, fun to play someone that isn't entirely human), and as for WIPs, Such Happy Campers (I'm so hooked on the mystery and the characters, plus great atmosphere).
TV Shows: Midnight Mass (small town horror, incredible plot and visuals, a HUGE inspiration for TLS) and also Haunting of Hill House (genuinely breathtaking, an amazing cast, a great mystery & sense of creeping dread), Over the Garden Wall (the atmosphere and emotional core of the story are incredible), The Twilight Zone (instrumental for my development as a horror fan, especially surrealist horror), Gravity Falls (more light-hearted than everything else, but still small town horror). Honorable mention for Twin Peaks, which I haven't seen (yet) but also to my knowledge has very similar vibes!
Movies: The Thing (isolated horror, incredible atmosphere, fantastic body horror), Coraline (unreality, things being not quite right), and It Follows (not actually my favorite movie lol, but I love the sense of being out of time it conjures). Most of my favorite horror movies aren't actually all that similar to my own project, but the first two Scream movies, Alien, and Nope are some of my favorites <3
Books: I've forgotten every single book I've ever read, but I'm a life-long Stephen King fan. The Mist, Under the Dome, and Salem's Lot all inspired Lonely Shore one way or another. Also a big fan of Misery, Needful Things, 11/22/63, and The Stand. My all-time favorite short story is The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, which also includes a town where something is very wrong.
Other: Originally TLS was a Monster of the Week campaign I ran; which is one of my favorite ttrpgs. So if you're into tabletop and/or horror, I highly recommend checking it out!!

What's the sweater paws tag mean on nightmare Obi-Wan? Amazing art by the way!
Behold! Sweater paws :D
Sitrep. Back on the Negotiator after a campaign that had, literally, been a nightmare.
They now know that droids do, in fact, dream of electric banthas.
The objective had been clear. Enemy forces had taken over a mining planet of a neutral system verging on joining the Republic. Free the hostages, wipe the Separatist presence from the surface. It had been routine, sadly.
It had… been different.
It had started with a single child’s voice singing a kriffing disturbing lullaby with a clear, echo enunciation coming from nowhere and everywhere.
They had been infiltrating the main premises to cap signals, communication as a whole, while tagging and bagging the Seppie officers in charge. Companies Alpha and Delta would meanwhile engage.
“Keep them occupied,” Cody had whispered over comms, blaster ready while he stood between the enemy and his General who—
So Cody will not exactly get used to Obi-Wan dissolving into smoke and turning the surrounding area into something like a haunted graveyard? Stepping through the black fog that really was part of his General is weird.
“I assure you, you’re not accidentally standing on my kidney when I use that shape,” Obi-Wan had said drily when Cody had inquired on the… sensitivity of the smoke.
The first enemy officer running, screaming down the halls with tomb plaques whispering their name over and over, would have kind of taken them by surprise if Obi-Wan hadn’t warned the ARCs in front.
“Look,” whispered directly into Cody’s ear, cold at his neck. “Left,” echoing until the word was too far away.
Cody had ignored the singing, more ghost voices joining in - which, as it turned out, had been the enemy sentient’s voices that Obi-Wan’s abilities had copied - in harmony sometimes, old and hoarse, young and begging, crying out.
“Round the corner, round and round, round the corner she misled, round and round, turn up dead—,” Boil stopped singing when Cody looked at him. “What, it’s catchy!“
Apart from the new earworm, the op had been successful. The hostages were cared for, post-op brief had been surprisingly… brief.
And now they were in the mess, shoveling food down their gullets and utterly failing to be discrete about watching the General’s other high-stakes op.
“If I just…” Obi-Wan continues to mutter to himself as he wraps the ends of the smoking sleeves over his black-tipped clawed hands leaking nightmares. He holds them up. “This should suffice. Spoon, please.”
Cody sticks the spoon dutifully between the divot Obi-Wan’s finger and thumb create in the fabric. He goes back to watching in fascination, cheek resting on his knuckles.
Obi-Wan nods to him. “Thank you. Pudding, please.”
Waxer balances the tiny cup on Obi-Wan’s other sleeve-pawed hand, tongue sticking out.
“Thank you.”
Waxer shrugs and goes back to his mental breakdown over murmuring “sweater paws” to himself.
The spoon dips into the pudding, is lifted to pale lips and the black, sharp tongue Cody is refusing to think about in any context whatsoever.
A nightmare drip lands on the floor with a soul-rending screech vibrating across the floor. A few men jump despite themselves. So does Obi-Wan.
The pudding plops into the nightmare sludge that has gathered on the table.
“No,” Obi-Wan whispers, eyebrows scrunching up in mourning, definitely pouting. “This can’t be happening.”

Kristen Riedel very much did not want to go there. Every interview she gave was her shutting down queer Buck/Eddie and Buddie. She was the one who kept insisting the change of will was obviously platonic because the origin was platonic. I doubt she was the one to shut down Bi Buck but she was not in any way the one pushing for it.
Nonnie Nonnie Nonnie.
I don’t know how many times I have to say it, but one should always take any interview given by a show runner with a massive grain of salt - subterfuge is the name of the game because they aren’t going to give away their storylines for the season and tell people what’s coming. Nor are they going to say something that is in direct opposition to the powers that pay their salaries.
KR shutting down buddie stuff in interviews (which I disagree she did btw - skirted round it yet but never shut it down outright as you seem to be saying) and saying things like the will was platonic etc all reads like it’s coming from above her - that she was saying it because she had been instructed to rather than because it’s what she felt on the subject. It also reads as someone who is not confident in being interviewed - who is nervous about saying the wrong thing (because if you read her interviews fully - including ones that don’t ask about buddie in any way - it’s pretty obvious she lacks confidence in that setting.
As for her not pushing for buddie or bi buck. You do realise that if she genuinely was anti buddie and bi buck then during her tenure as show runner she could have completely shut down anything buddie related - she had creative control over the show - and she used that time to put as much buddie content into things as she could through whatever avenues were available to her - set, props, costumes, metaphors within the script etc. If she wasn’t on board with buddie then none of those things would have made it to our screens
She’s far from perfect - I have plenty of issues with her pacing of episodes, arcs and storylines, but trying to say she’s anti buddie and was happily towing the fox party line is just delusional and down right misogynistic.
She was put into an impossible situation and did what she could with it.

*ahem* soft dom Leon who holds you close to get you to calm down when batting. He's cooing condescendingly while holding you to his chest with his big arms while you squirm and complain. If you move too much he'll pin you down on your back with your hands in his and just kiss and drag his lips all over ur face until you apologize because you want him to actually kiss and touch you. When you inevitably give in he has you wrap your arms around him and he does the same to you, he just always want you as close as possible
HHJHNGGGGGG THE INTIMACY im going to lose it
softdom leon who’s so touch starved and just wants to feel you :( who wraps a beeg arm around your middle to keep you pinned to his chest while his other hand stays cupped to your pussy </3 leon likes this, likes when there’s no space between you, skin to skin, completely pressed up behind you because the way you feel will always be fucking addicting to him :( feeling your cunt drool and dampen his palm while you try to grind on him for any sort of friction is sooo cute, how can you blame him for wanting to stay like this forever :(( he’s so unfair. uses his strength against you, flexes his arm to hold you still and bury his face in your neck and mumble about why his good girl is trying to get away :( but if you keep squirming and whining for more he will manhandle you onto your back, only allowing few seconds before he’s back on top of you, this time chest to chest. lets his heavy cock rest on your tummy, even rubs it a little bit back and forth so you can feel what you can’t have right now because you won’t be good for him :( kisses you allll over your face, your cheeks, your nose, eyelids, everywhere except your lips, and does it so sweetly you almost forget how mean, how teasing he’s being for not kissing you the way you both want right now:( maybe if you apologize he’ll rest his cock on your pussy this time, letting it rub between your folds while he rolls his hips the same way he does when he fucks you, and maybe he’ll give in when he feels your arms wrap around him and your nails dig into his broad back <33

Days late but i'm reading the Q&A and i cannot tell if this guy is just Taking The Piss it slowly going mad from adapting it or if he's actually semi-incompetent
I saw a post about it and lots of people were. super mad abt it especially since the adaptation made so many changes. i have no strong thoughts but i also do not think generally so I Have No Input. ultimately i don't even know how much creative control he has, or what "the original author approved of the changes" means.
i genuinely. from the q&a cannot tell if he is trying to take the piss or just does not know how to read. i'm trying to be neutral because I Know Nothing. but this is more like the political side of webcomic discussions and you're probably more the socio-economic side so
oh don't worry nonnie! i have plenty of strong thoughts about it for the both of us :))
i hesitate a lot to criticize anyone's artwork because i know how hard art can be. and i personally have no real experience adapting from one medium to another so i'm even more apprehensive of speaking about something i know very little of.
but oh boy did the q&a dash away all of my reservations.
forgive me for taking your ask as an excuse to rant about it but i wanna thoroughly dissect it (derogatory)
i cannot tell if this guy is just Taking The Piss it slowly going mad from adapting it or if he's actually semi-incompetent
i don't think he's taking the piss. i think he's being completely earnest about thinking he's doing a good job at adapting tged. i think he genuinely thinks he's cracked the code on how to make a good adaptation.
i think he's completely wrong
here's what i mean. this is his answer when asked what's the most important part to keep in mind when adapting something:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
now, this doesn't sound bad at first. i'll give him that, at first glance, this looks like pretty decent advice. when making something, especially a work of fiction, it's pretty tempting to guide yourself by a 'what will the audience like?' mentality. and it's not a bad thing to want your content to be engaging, that's half of the challenge of making anything made to consumed.
but to consider it the most important part of the creative process?? to create or adapt a story based on what it's 'entertaining' instead of what you're trying to convey to your audience??
especially when this is what you think is what you should be focusing on
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like. sir. is that really what you're worrying about. really.
that last panel is especially infuriating to me because. why does he care so much about making the episodes funny. why is that his most pressing concern. there are so many things that are way more important than the comedy, like character development, relationship building, plot foreshadowing, a million other things and instead he just. cares about whether the latest episode was funny or not.
tged is a fun novel, it has so many funny moments but if asked i would not say it was a comedy. and it certainly never seemed to make an effort to make sure all of its chapters were funny.
so why on god's green earth does he seem to believe the adaptation needs to be over all other things funny.
why was that the direction he decided to take.
and i for one i'm almost absolutely certain it was his decision to go that route.
especially because this was his answer at being asked if he felt any pressure regarding the characters or plot development.
Tumblr media
nunca quise madrear a alguien mas que a este pinche monillo
he does go on to say all the changes were approved by bk moon but like. god what a way to confirm that he didn't a single shit about the characters and plot beyond making something he personally found funny lmaooo
and then this!! this!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the way he's admitting that he's changing whatever he feels like because as long as he 'doesn't stray too far from the central storyline' it doesn't matter,,,, because he already knows the ending and so as long as he can check off some boxes regarding the plot it doesn't really matter what happens in between,,, i wanna wring his neck so bad,,,
i already ranted about it in the tags before but you can't take a story and assume that as long as you get from point A to point B the parts in between don't matter. that's not how it works.
the ending of a story is the culmination of all the emotional and narrative build up you've done through the entire length of your work. is all the character moments, relationship growth and plot development that you've carefully sown in your story coming together to finally deliver what you've build up.
yes, the ending is an absolute masterpiece. because it has en entire novel of build up before it. because it took its time to make the audience engage earnestly with its characters and its plot. because it didn't make fun of itself at every moment possible and instead took itself seriously when the narrative called for it.
because the novel was telling a story and it wanted us to be invested on it beyond a superficial 'haha funny man makes ugly faces' reaction.
and because lee hyunmin is too busy wondering if every chapter is as funny as possible he's not doing the work needed to make sure the ending delivers the absolute gut punch and emotional catharsis it does on the novel.
he thinks he can just fuck around his way through the plot and still reap the same rewards bk moon did with the novel.
and if he keeps going like this he's not gonna be able to.
but that's just my opinion of course <3
