i'm struggling to articulate my thoughts but since we're moving away from "chara is evil" it's soo important to me that we also talk about how all the people who know of us don't think of us as evil either. sans essentially sympathizes with us, since he thought we reset because we're unhappy. chara looks through us and reflects us, teaches us the consequences of our actions. not because they hate us but because they think that's what's right. when flowey addresses them he's also addressing you, talking about your power and how easily you can mold the story however you'd like. i get where people come from when they frame us all as the ultimate villain but i don't think that's quite right either. i don't think toby fox wrote a single inherently evil person in undertale and that includes the player. the way the game addresses us through good and bad feels so so earnest
