Now that I finally finished Campaign 1, here are my final thoughts:
Character Rankings By Player:
Liam: 1. Orym 2. Caleb 3. Vax
Laura: 1. Jester 2. Vex 3. Imogen
Travis: 1. Chetney 2. Grog 3. Fjord
Ashley: 1. Fearne 1. Yasha 1. Pike (they're all one because I love them all and couldn't choose)
Sam: 1. Scanlan 2. FCG 3. Nott
Taliesin: 1. Caduceus 2. Molly 3. Ashton 4. Percy
Marisha: 1. Beau 2. Keyleth 3. Laudna
Campaign 1 Thoughts:
Personally, wasn't that big of a fan of the Raven Queen storyliine - had I watched Campaign 1 before I watched the other 2 campaigns, I may have thought differently, but it was just the same "Liam's character is depressing" storyline and it didn't really seem to be all that much of a point/benefit to his sacrifice.
Grog and Pike's friendship is literally the best. I love the goofiness that comes out of Ashley and Travis's friendship
Vax and Keyleth and Vex and Percy genuinely had zero chemistry for me. I think that Keyleth should have ended up with Kashaw or nobody, Vax with Gilmore, Vex with Zahra, and Percy with nobody and/or some unknown NPC
Absolutely adored Scanlan/Pike's relationship and the path it took. Yes, Scanlan did some not appropriate things at the beginning, but he truly was the best version of himself when he was trying to be the best for Pike
Kima and Allura are amazing and it really adds to their appearances in C2/C3
Keyleth, at least in this campaign (she is different in campaigns where she's piloted by Matt) is definitely not leader material. She struggles so much with making decisions, and often makes not great ones
Percy spent the entire campaign trying to get sympathy for the fact that he felt guilty for making the guns, yet never stopped using them and even continued to make them for other people. Even if you wanted to make that argument that that was his class, so it would be weird if he stopped, he didn't even really play a major role with them in the final battles because they weren't magic
Percy was genuinely Taliesin's most annoying character and every character he's played since is just Percy in a different shade, in my opinion.
Grog with the Deck of Many Things was amazing
I genuinely loved all the different guests that were a part of this campaign, especially Will and Maryann
Not necessarily about C1, but I find it a tad strange that with how important Vox Machina was with literally saving the world, that they're barely mentioned by name in subsequent campaigns
Sam's devastation over having to use the Wish spell was genuinely heartbreaking
Campaign 2 is still my fave

My Future
Derek Hale x OC
Samantha, Stiles and Scott are always joking about the impossible. Who wouldn't when your best friend's dad is the sheriff of Beacon Hills? All jokes stop when they realize the impossible is indeed possible.
Tumblr media
Chapter 47: Beast of Gevaudan
The pack stood around Scott's kitchen. "My dad's got an APB out...", Stiles announced.
"For a 5'8" 16-year-old?", Kira asked.
"I recommended a nine-foot-tall rampaging werewolf," Stiles told her.
"It still might not be him.", Liam denied.
Sam frowned sadly, "Liam, you were there with us. It's gotta be him."
Liam looked down sadly. "But, Hayden's at the school looking."
"I can keep checking the woods," Malia suggested.
"My mom can check all the hospitals in the county," Scott said as he walked into the kitchen. "We can find him."
"What happens ?", Liam asked. "We figure out a way to save him.", Scott said.
Liam nodded. Lydia asked, "Okay, where else could we look?"
"Let's ask Corey.", Scott suggested. "And how do you suppose we do that?", Sam asked.
Scott slammed his hand on the cabinet, but instead of the cabinet, he grabbed Corey's shirt who suddenly appeared.
"Wait. Wait.", Corey defended himself. "It's not my fault. They took him and I couldn't do anything. They took him..."
Scott cut him off, "Who?"
"The Dread Doctors.", Corey replied.
With that, Scott, Sam and Liam met up with Theo.
"Where is he?", Scott asked Theo as he walked by his side. Liam stood beside Sam.
"I thought we were looking for him.", Theo replied. "You know who I'm talking about.", Scott said.
"Deucalion?", Theo asked.
"You don't need to be around Deucalion. You'll corrupt our trust with him.", Sam said.
"After the fact you guys let him live...", Theo replied.
“Because we trust him not to make any more mistakes. You, however, keep repeating the same cycle.”, Sam said, though, it was mainly because of Scott and Derek’s threat, but it was whatever.
"We're not murderers, Theo.", Scott told him. "That's not entirely true, Scott.", Theo said, frowning. "You still think you're gonna get through all this without killing anyone?"
"I didn't say that.", Scott replied. Liam and Sam paused and she glanced at Liam with a questioning look.
Liam nodded. "We're close."
"You get his scent?", Scott asked and Liam nodded. "Which way?", Theo asked him. Liam glanced at Scott and Sam  Scott glanced at Theo.
Theo looked at all of them with furrowed eyebrows. "You think you're going to leave me behind?", Theo asked, incredulously.
Liam looked at Scott. "Liam...", Scott looked at Liam pleadingly.
Sam crossed her arms. “You can’t seriously think we can trust you after everything you’ve done?”
"Look, he wants to kill him," Liam refused.
He turned to her. "You want to fight someone that actually wants to kill Mason? Go fight Parrish."
"I just want his power.", Theo said. “That’s not happening either.”, Sam said.
"Who did you see when you put on the mask?", Liam asked him. "I already told you, it wasn't Mason.", Theo said.
"Who was it?", Liam raised his voice.
Theo looked at them. "I saw a man dying in the snow. He was impaled on a spear."
"That man you saw had to have been the original beast.”, Sam said. Scott nodded. "It's actually called a pike. Lydia told us the story." Scott explained.
"Then you guys know what it means," Theo said. "Time's running out." Theo turned to Liam. "Where is he, Liam? What direction?"
Liam looked at Scott who returned his look with hardened, impatient eyes. Liam sighed. "This way."
He led the older supernatural teens to a wooden door. Just as Liam was just about to grab it, Scott grabbed his shoulder, pausing him in place.
“He’s here.”, Sam said, confirming it.
Liam pulled the door open and they went inside and walked down the steps that led to a basement.
"Mason?", Liam whispered. They continued down the stairs and arrived at a room. They saw Mason was leaning against a huge capsule that had a body in it. The capsule was filled with a green liquid.
They quickly rushed to his side, only pausing as they noticed he had a huge cable sticking out of the back of his neck and connected to the big capsule.
"It's connected to him.", Scott stated, shocked. "What is this thing?", Liam asked. Theo frowned, "I don't know."
"Liam, I can feel it," Mason spoke up. "It's in my skull."
Shit.
"Don't move.", Liam told him. Liam looked over at Theo. "What are they doing to him?"
"I don't know.", Theo snapped. "Guys, let's focus." Scott said. "Mason, we're gonna get you out of here.", he reassured the underclassman.
Scott looked at his betas. "Hold him still."
Liam grabbed his shoulders and Sam grabbed his legs. "Okay. Alright. I'm going to try to pull it out.", Scott said, reaching for the cable. Mason started to pant in panic.
"Let me know if it hurts you.", Scott warned, grabbing the metallic cable and started pulling. They jumped at the sound of a crunch and Mason screamed in pain. Scott immediately let go.
Mason groaned in pain and yelled, "It hurts!" He let out a breath, quieting down some. "It definitely hurts."
Scott looked at them with wide eyes. "I barely moved it."
They paused at the sound of a click. Scott and Sam’s face shifted into fear as he looked behind Sam. She slowly turned her head and saw one of the Dread Doctors.
"They wanted us here," Theo said as Scott and Sam stood. They heard the clicking sound once more and saw another one appear by the staircase.
"Liam, try to get that thing out of Mason's neck.", Scott said, hurriedly. They heard hissing and turned their heads, to see the last one behind a wall.
The ring leader walked over to them and stood before them. "Theo... Theo Raeken.", the doctor said.
"He's coming with us.", Theo replied, making Liam frown at him. "Failure... Theo Raeken.", the doctor said. Theo’s face contorted in displeasure. "I'm not a failure."
"Not a complete failure.", the doctor replied. "We learned from you."
"You gonna let him talk to you like that?", Sam asked and Scott looked at her with disapproval before turning to Theo. "This is what they want," Scott said. "Don't give it to them. We can't beat them."
The Surgeon continued, "The mark of a true failure. Repeating the same mistake again and again."
Theo looked at Sam and Scott. "We're taking Mason." He shifted and looked back at the Surgeon. "I'm taking what's mine.", he growled.
"You have the entitlement and narcissism typical of your generation.", the surgeon told him. "In that, you are a profound success."
"So that just makes you better than him by kidnapping kids?", Sam countered. They all jumped at the sound of Mason’s sudden screams of pain. They turned to hear his skull cracking, slight despair washing over them.
Liam groaned angrily. "God! Scott! Scott, I...I can't get it out. I don't know what to do." Scott rushed to his side and Sam stood in front of them protectively.
"But your failure taught us one thing.", the doctor continued. "The banality of evil. That you were and would always be an ordinary evil."
Theo tilted his head a little. "You think I'm ordinary?", Theo asked him.
"We believed that we had to start with the perfect evil to resurrect the perfect killer." He said. They were using Theo... "From you, we learned true evil only comes by corrupting something truly good."
"Not something.", Sam muttered, and looked back at Mason. "Someone," Liam whispered.
Sam looked back, instantly crouching in a defensive stance as Theo growled at the doctor and pushed him back against the wall. He started throwing punches against the metal mask, trying to crack it. Disapprovingly, the two Dread Doctors walked towards him.
Liam stood up. "Liam, wait!", Scott called after him and stood up as well. Sam followed Liam, readying to attack the other doctors.
Theo groaned in pain as the Doctor punched him back. Sam threw a punch into one of the doctor’s faces and received a punch as well.
"Liam!", Mason yelled. The Dread Doctor continued attacking Liam over and over again. Sam went back to help Scott but the doctor tossed him against Sam and knocked them back into some barrels.
A second later, Liam was tossed beside them. The three of them watched Mason as he started pulling on the pipe and stood up. He was screaming in pain as he took the cable and finally pulled it out.
"Transformation..." The Surgeon began. A random black smoke appeared at Mason's feet and slowly made its way up. "Transformation without frequency."
"Mason!" Liam yelled. Mason's eyes turned blue as he looked back at them and growled. Just as the smoke disappeared, the Beast glared at them. "That is not my name.", Mason growled and let out a loud roar.
Sam quickly evaded the Beast’s attack and watched as its attack landed on one of the doctors and slashed him dead.
The Beast growled and the teens watched as it grabbed another one of the doctors and ripped him apart, causing blood to splatter everywhere.
Each teen was shocked at the sight. Theo's eyes widened as the Beast looked at him and growled. It slashed at Theo and knocked him to the side, making him slump to the floor. Theo groaned in pain.
"Success.", the Surgeon said as he looked at the Beast. The beast thrusted his claws into the Surgeon's chest and dragged him away. Scott and Sam shared a knowing look.
The beast wasn’t after them. He wanted the Dread Doctors dead.
They followed the Beast outside and watched as he threw the Surgeon on the ground. It went to attack him but Parrish appeared out of nowhere and growled at him as his body lit on fire.
The Beast turned around as Parrish slammed his burning fist into the beast's chest.
The Beast growled in pain. Sam and Scott ducked at the sound of gunfire. They turned around and saw Chris shooting his shotgun. The Beast turned around to run away and stumbled.
However, the beast didn’t shift back into Mason. Instead, it was a completely different person. "La Bete de Gevaudan!" Gerard yelled at him. "I know your name." The man was covered in blood and he turned around to look at Gerard. "Do you remember mine?"
"Argent.", he said in French and ran off. Parrish roared and ran off after him.
"Who the hell was that?", Scott asked. "That’s the man Lydia told us about.", Sam told him. "Sebastien Valet."

At this point I'm pretty certain that more people have reblogged this post
from my blog with my addition than from the OP's blog and it's weird

There's a lot of moments from Critical Role that I sometimes think of, but honestly, there's only one that holds a special place in my heart.
(spoilers for campaign 1, and eventually Legend of Vox Machina)
During the final battle against Vecna, Sam has to use a 9th level counter spell to prevent Vecna from fleeing.
That's his only 9th level spell. I didn't notice this when listening to it, only when I watched it later, but Sam didn't want to do it.
Because he only gets one 9th level spell slot, and he was intending to use it to save Vax from his impending "death".
On paper, this doesn't mean too much, but if you watch that part, you can see Sam try to find another way, then use the spell before telling Liam what he wanted to do, then starting to cry.
Sam was legitimately distraught that he couldn't save Vax. Liam had to comfort Sam during these parts, telling him that he had just saved the world by doing that.
That moment, above any others, told me how invested the players had gotten in the game, and in their characters. That moment is truly fascinating to me.

Day #10
Tempest. Pathfinder's quarters. On the way to Eos.
Tumblr media
🎶 Whatever it Takes - Imagine Dragons
As we can't use mass relays for the shifts between a system to another, like we'd have done in the Milky Way, in the Andromeda Galaxy we have to rely only on ours spaceships engines. Travel times are getting longer, but fortunately the Tempest is the fastest and most agile ship of the Initiative, so we are able to reach Habitat 1 in less than a week. We probably would have been able to get there sooner if Kallo hadn't had to make numerous evasive maneuvers to escape the Scourge's offshoots along the way.
In about 26 hours we will reach the Pytheas system and by then it shouldn't take long to reach the planet.
In these days I have had the opportunity to explore the ship from stern to bow and every corner has managed to enchant me. There is really everything you need to analyze and study all that Andromeda will offer us: flora, fauna, artifacts, new technologies! I even have a private cabin! (I've already said this, right?)
I also got to know the crew. If we need to work together for the good of us all we must do it well, as a team, and the best way to do this is to get to know each other.
First of all I need to know the on board crew: the pilot, the mechanic, the scientist, the doctor. They are essential support figures, without which it would not be possible to complete any mission. They keep the Tempest ready for the action and 100% efficient and take care of analyzing the samples we bring on board, they maintain active communications with the Nexus and they take care of coordinating the informations between my team and those of the leaders of the Initiative.
Gil tried to explain to me in the most elementary words possible how the engine works, which reproduces the ODSY of the arks on a smaller scale. Something related to the static energy accumulated while traveling and used to recharge the ship itself. I do not know. He tried hard, but I've never been good with technicalities. I prefer practice to theory.
Kallo, on the other hand, told me some curious anecdotes about his creation. He was part of the team in charge of designing and building the Tempest in the Milky Way and he left with her aboard the Nexus to follow her footsteps, while the rest of the group stayed behind. In a certain way it's like if he is a living legacy of the past. Couldn't have nothing better, after all, he was the testing pilot, he practiced with her a lot so he knows how she works.
The most curious thing, which both confirmed to me, is that the Tempest's cloacking system is based from the technical specifications of the Normandy SR-1's IES stealth system, but I know for sure that those projects are covered by military secrecy, so I don't understand how the Initiative could get their hands on them. Maybe my father has something to do with it? Maybe some of his old contacts in the N7? What else are you hiding from me, old man? AH! Damn! I wish I had you here now so I can choke you with my hands!
I still hold a grudge against my father for what he did to me.
Don't get me wrong, I am grateful to him for saving my life, but I also wish he hadn't burdened me with this HUGE responsibility. Fortunately, SAM has shown himself to be an excellent support several times, often also emotional, in certain ways, while not being able to show any emotion. Even if he's very sophisticated, he's still an AI, but sharing my father's body and mind for years has allowed him to share with me thoughts able to clarify many of my doubts about him and the relationship he had with us: me, Scott and even mum.
The more time passes, the more I feel I can do it!
This sense of oppression is gradually fading, and I must also thank the rest of my team for this.
Lexi now demands that I have a psychoanalysis session every day, arguing that it's essential to deal with mourn, and I, even if reluctantly, let her do it, because I am sure that my tangled mind is an interesting subject of study for her.
With Suvi we had some interesting scientific discussions, she showed me the results of the researches conducted so far by the Nexus and she passed me all the data of what we know so far about the Scourge. She is ... strange ... I thought I was strange, but she manages to be extremely intelligent and at the same time tremendously naive. She is convinced that behind the creation of the cosmos there is the hand of a god. Well, who am I to contradict her? Everyone is free to believe in what they want, as long as it doesn't interfere with their work.
Liam and Cora are helping me with the reports to send to the Nexus and together we analyze strategies and tactics to use to better prepare ourselves for what we have to face on Eos. Liam's experience with the Crisis Unit is proving particularly useful in this context of uncertainty, where anything that can go wrong surely will. And Cora, well, I understand why dad chose her as his second-in-command: she was part of a team of Asari Commando, Thessia's military and biotic combat excellence, backed by centuries of tactics and experience.
And then there is Vetra.
To have a smuggler's past she is very honest and crystal clear. I enjoy spending time with her. She is a tough girl who grew up alone, away from Palaven and the rest of the turian hierarchy (and I don't know how bad that can be), with a younger sister to raise, Sid. She told me what happened to the Nexus in the months before the arrival of the Hyperion: the clash with the Scourge, the chaos, the mutiny, the expulsion of the exiles, the failure of the first outposts. But she also told me amusing anecdotes, such as when she began retrieving special components for Kesh in the Milky Way - once, twice, three, four times - until she found out about the existence of the Andromeda Initiative and joined her in this undertaking, hoping for a better future - like many of us.
Sometimes, if I need to let off steam, I go to see her down in the hangar and she is willing to listen to me and my problems. On the contrary, she does not really like talking about herself, I have understood this by now, but I know how to be very patient, as well as very curious, and I am sure that sooner or later she too will confide in me. For the moment, I'm just happy to gossip with her about Addison's and Tann's.

it kinda bums me out when some parts of the fandom tend to focus on sam's "bad" characteristics or the problematic choices his characters make, like he's actually a horrible person. When I hear people say that, all I can think of is the same man who cried because he couldn't save his best friend's character at the end of the first campaign
Anon I feel you. So many people seem unable to separate Sam from Scanlan and Nott and I hate that. That man loves his friends. He was almost in tears when Fjord died recently and he’s drunkenly sobbed about how much his friendship with Liam means to him on the OG AWNP podcast. He puts on a front of the funny man but he’s got serious acting chops. Just watch the scene where Scanlan leaves in episode 85. He was so intense and serious his friends thought he was leaving the game. His very best friend thought Sam was leaving. Liam might be my favorite but I have a very soft spot for Samuel Brent Osacr Riegel too.

Fifteen things I noted about CR2E69 “The King's Cage” and the Talks Machina about it :
Oh my god. The master debate ad. "I will master debate Liam O'Brien as long as it takes until he comes (...) to the realization that I am even more of a furious master debater than him !" The little pause after "comes" (hahaha) is just a gem on top of a treasure. Matt makes the LONGEST FACE PALM. Sam : "Have they fired us yet ??"
I'm glad that Nott and Jester had the time to talk, and that Jester admitted to the concealing of Nott's flask on her own. Their talk didn't resolve everything (and of course it would have been weird if it had !) but it was good nontheless.
WHAT ??? We been knew Obann as a drow was a disguise, but I was not ready for the connection : he is the demon Yasha saw in her dreams !!!
Oh man, the first two rounds were hard ! Beau : "The lid [of the sarcophagus] hits him, but we fucking couldn't ???"
Taliesin and Ashely doing a "Pack tactics ? Pack tactics ? Packtics ?!" joke made me think of the tumblr meme on the snails.
When Obann was killed by Fjord, I knew my stress was far from being over. Because again, even if I don't know exactly what happens in this episode, I know that ere will be heart break. And the next round turned everything : in a few seconds, Obann charmed Yasha, the Laughing Hand jumped and tored through Beau and Fjord, and Fjord tried to teleport him and Yasha away only to discover she would not go with the Nein anymore... Terrible
"The creature is not willing"
The end of the battle is a terrifying game of "running but not enough up front that we leave our friends behind, but enough uo front that the bad guys can't catch up, but not enough up front that we leave our friends behind..." I have flashbacks of the fight with the blue dragon and Jester being alone. Taliesin was afraid, it was visible, to lose another character !
This is the image I've seen : Jester, crying, with her hands to Yasha who is full of murderous and evil intent as the doors are closing... Oh my god this image !...
Taliesin, coming with the Brooklyn Nine-Nine meme : "Oh, self-crit ! Those are rare."
I'm so glad Caduceus is here for the Nein. The end was very emotionnal and they all reacted exactly the way their character are gonna react : Fjord is mistrustful, Beau ask questions, Caleb is thinking in terms of power and plans, Nott is creating an acceptable answer, Jester is focused on saving Yasha. But Caduceus is the only one who says : we have to move, we have to get out and tell everybody, because this is big !
What a way to send Ashley off for the last time, though ! What an episode !
Dani has a portrait of Yasha that says "Gone Killin' " in huge meme letters and I think that's beautiful.
NICE
Tumblr media
Travis doesn't have a backup character, and jokingly says that if it comes to it, he will just "bring Chutney into the game". DUDE !!!! DUUUUUUUDE
