Listen, I shipped Whoffle and Whoffaldi back in my youth so much. Like a lot, but they never overtook 10Rose in my heart. I haven't thought that much of them in over a decade though, BUT LAST NIGHT I HAD A DREAM AND NOW I AM HAUNTED BY WHOFFALDI YET AGAIN.

The only difference between then and now is now I have a husband who will be forced to listen to all my feelings about them. RIP Berto

speaking my truth , i fear no one: the timepetals to doctor/clara (11 and 12 included) pipeline is not a measure of the doctor loving clara more, but the natural progression of doctor who as a show and the doctor as a character, and to analyze their relationships outside of that lens is to do a disservice to the show as a whole.

Ok this explains why their ship name is whoffle/whoffaldi depending on the Doctor. Even if the latter is funny considering. That's just the Doctor on both sides of the name.

Also lmao? One episode divorce arc? The moment the Doctor leaves they screw up their marriage and the moment he's back they fix it. They need him in their life to stay stable.

I'm a bit puzzled by this ship name too. Not because it contains no character's names. Look at Clara/11 being called Whoffle (who + souffé) and Clara/12 is Whoffaldi (who + soufflé + Cappaldi). Most DW ships are like that.

What surprises me the most is that poeple know the names Thoschei and Theta Sigma in the first place. Given how normalized they are in fanfic, you would assume those are established canon, and not something vaguely alluded in the 70s and maybe a bunch of obscure comic issues and novels.

My theory for that is that the teen audience needed something relatable so they jump on Divided Loyalties like ravenous wolves. Is Divided Loyalties a good book ? Maybe. I will admit the fandom ruined it for me a little bit. Not because they're toxic, the Deca fans are amazing, but because most of the fan content about the Doctor's life on Gallifrey is Deca related and I could not care less about reading high school AU at my age.

I never really linked Thoschei as a ship name to the Deca fandom, but now it jumps to my eyes.

Anyways, the Whoniverse (apparently it's a copyrighted name now ?) contains a multitude of contradicting continuities and it's interesting to see what fans elect as canon vs what showrunners and other official creators chose to use in current canon.

i rly hate that "thoschei" seems to have stuck as the shipname :(

Doctor Who Ship Tournament

Welcome to the Doctor Who ship bracket! I’m very excited to do this, but keep in mind this will be a learning curve for me - I’ve never done this sort of thing before.

Some basics before we begin:

- All the ships including the Doctor will be simply the Doctor/Character. This is to prevent the rounds becoming all multiple versions of the same ship. In the same vein, if the picture accompanying a bracket has one version of the ship, you will still be voting for all versions of the ship. For example, if you ship 11/River but not 12/River and the picture is of 12 and River, you still vote for the Doctor/River. Also, if anyone wants to provide me with fanart that they made or that they can get me permission to use for Doctor pairings that never had certain Doctors meet (e.g. 13/River, 12/Rose), that would be excellent! (The only exception to this might be Thasmin, tell me what you’d like)

- I will not be seeding this tournament. I don’t know how it works and I want to give some underdogs a chance. However, the big pairings will not be going up against each other for a while.

- Admission for not already included ships will rely on number of submissions to the google form. Please don’t spam ships. I will notice, and I will disqualify that ship, disappointing us all.

Promoting this blog again! I don't have that many followers as of now, and since I've got a major part of the bracket figured out, I want the tournament ready to go soon! But I do want it to be a fun and close race, so I want people to know about this beforehand.
