Whumpuary Day 18: “Make It Stop”
TW: None
@whumpuary
Whumpee squeezed their eyes shut as Caretaker ran a cotton swab over their wounds. They hissed in pain at the burning sensation, tightly gripping their stuffed teddy bear. When she ran the swab over an open wound they smacked her hand away.
“Whumpee…” Caretaker warned.
“It burns! It burns!” They screamed and kicked, nearly hitting her. “Make it stop!”
She held down their legs, causing them to squirm. “Whumpee, sit still or you’ll make it worse. Do you want it to hurt more?”
“No…” They whined, briefly stopping their struggle. Caretaker continued cleaning the wounds when they hissed again. “No! No! It burns! Stop it!”
“Whumpee do I need to completely hold you down while I’m doing this?” She frowned.
“No!” They cried. “Make it stop!”
“It’ll be over faster if you just sit still. Now stop throwing a fit or I will hold you down.” Whumpee did as told, still whining and hissing as the cotton ran over their skin. A moment later, Caretaker was placing bandages over the wounds. They watched, sniffling. Once she was done, she put away the medical supplies and turned to Whumpee empty handed. “Now you see? It’s over with already. How hard was that?”
Whumpee shook their head slowly. “Not that hard…”
Caretaker pointed to their stuffed bear. “See, even Teddy thinks it wasn’t that hard.” Whumpee glanced down at the stuffed animal. She reached inside the medical kit again. She pulled out a roll of stickers, gently placing one on each bandage. She placed one on Whumpee’s chest along with Teddy’s. “There, all done.”
She watched as Whumpee looked in awe at each of the stars decorating their wounds. She almost smiled at the sight. She never understood why they liked the stickers so much but she didn’t bother asking. Grabbing the blanket nearby, she wrapped it around them before picking up the kit. “I’ll bring you some tea.”

Friends Don't Kiss... Except When They Do
Written for @whumpuary 2024 Day 17/18: "Make it stop"
Characters: Gar & Jason, Jason & Conner, Conner & Gar from Titans. Rated T for language. ~400w
"Christ on a cracker—can you fuck off?"
Gar did not fuck off, much to Jason's chagrin. Instead, he continued belching the lyrics to Umbrella despite his teammate's pleas.
Jason yelled over the beat of heavy pop music, "Someone make it stop!"
Conner intervened, like he normally did when Jason and Gar fought. His methods, however, were a little unconventional. He waltzed up to the shapeshifter with no hesitation and smooched him.
The room fell silent. Garfield ceased his wretched singing. He became a statue in his confusion, face immobile—aside from blinking—and body void of all movement aside from the occasional intake of oxygen.
Conner turned towards a similarly shell-shocked Jason, smiling brightly. "Mission accomplished," he claimed.
The frozen duo exchanged looks of astonishment before facing their newborn friend.
"You..." Jason tried, "You can't just do that to people."
Conner tilted his head. "You can't?"
"No!" Jason piped up, regaining his opinionated voice and facial expressions, "No, that's something you do with a partner, or—"
"Gar's my partner," Conner interrupted, grinning despite his confusion at human customs.
"Like a life partner," Jason gritted, "like a person you plan on being with later—like fucking, you..." Jason turned towards Garfield. "Say something, man."
Gar opened his jaw wider, cheek muscles and tongue trying to join the conversation, but his mind couldn't process anything besides his first kiss being stolen from him.
"Great," Jason threw his hands up, "you broke him." He crossed his arms petulantly, brows furrowing. "What do you have to say for yourself?"
After a beat, Conner tried again, "Mission accomplished?"
Jason scrubbed a hand down his face, opting to walk away from the situation and its participants rather than continue to partake in the stupidity of the conversation.
Slowly, Conner waved a hand in front of his friend's face. Gar blinked, but was otherwise unresponsive.
Conner nodded silently, blinking back.
Eventually, he heard Krypto call out in hopes of lunch. Conner told Gar, "I'll see you later," before heading off towards his pooch.
Gar couldn't determine the amount of time he stood in the kitchen, mind reeling and throat empty. He also couldn't pinpoint the reason for the fluttering and churning in his stomach.
After an indescribable feeling washed over him, to which he recognized and accepted, Garfield reached a conclusion he could finally voice aloud—despite no longer having an audience.
"I'm bi."
