This particular thought came to me because I remembered how annoyed I was when Lucifer (the TV series) made an off-hand joke about how "Oscar Wilde was straight before he met me" but then I remembered that also in the Good Omens book it is heavily implied that Oscar Wilde and Aziraphale were involved together, which creates the hilarious suggestion that in the Gaiman-verse Oscar Wilde was sleeping around with several celestial all without them knowing about each other.
Which then led me down a rabbit hole of thinking about famous historical figures dealing with getting papparazied and approached by time travellers all the time.
Shakespeare sitting in a bar when an anachronistic strangers approaches, thinking "oh dear god, time to see what half-remembered ramble I'm about to hear of my own play again." While a time traveller is absolutely convinced that they are about to become the inspiration to Romeo and Juliet by giving the cliffnotes as "his own idea" (Romeo and Juliet has been playing in the globe for years at this point) Shakespeare doesn't say anything because he is morbidly interested in hearing how badly someone can misremember and misunderstand a play.
Leonardo Da Vinci selling his 50th "first draft, it's probably not even good enough to make the final version, oh you think I should? Well, why don't you buy this draft for a cheap price then" of Mona Lisa. (the painting was finished years ago).
And of course, Oscar Wilde seeing an anachronistic person looking particularly time-travellerly and siddling up like "You mean two men...in intimate relations...what a novel and completely new idea for me....maybe you should show me....(he's fucked five other time travellers just this week.)
Anyway, I just particularly dislike the trope where a time travelling normie somehow manages to influence and inspire historical famous people.

Im disappointed, I didn't realize you were that far down the terf rabbit hole. Why do you take it personally when someone experiences gender differently than you?
Disagreeing with a concept and considering that concept misogynist is not "taking it personally," it's the result of giving a concept its due consideration, and making an evaluation of it. I could at least grant you that, of course, because the term has no universally agreed upon meaning, not every person in the entire world who identifies as nonbinary means the same thing, but the notion put forth by people like Janelle Monae (that nonbinary people have access to a set of feelings about themselves and about gender to which women do not have access, or contain something which women definitionally do not contain) is a misogynist notion, and the fact that it's also core to some people's identities doesn't give the idea more legs on which to stand. And to be honest, your "disappointment" signals to me that, if anything, you took my evaluation of an idea personally.

Hello everyone, Happy New Years!! I hope that 2023 is the year for everyone's wishes, dreams, and accomplishments to manifest. These past few years for myself have been quite stressful and it's not something I talk about on social media, so without knowing it you've all helped to make 2022 bearable for me.
I've been on Tumblr for so long that I should receive some kind of senior discount. Out of all the fandom's i've been apart of, the Austin/Elvis community is one of the friendliest groups i've seen. And it was one that I didn't expect to join at all.
July 9th, the day after my birthday, was when I went into the theaters with my parents to watch the Elvis movie. I had no clue who Austin Butler was. I knew who Elvis was, but I wasn't a big fan. I was keen to see what things I could learn about him, and maybe gain a different perspective and newfound appreciation. Well, upon minute one of watching the movie and exiting the theater I was a changed person.
I was quite literally obsessed with Elvis and I learned everything about him. Falling down the rabbit hole is putting it mildly lol. And then, this sweet blonde blue eyed man came along for the ride with me. To say that Austin changed my life is a massive understatement. I don't know what I would do without those two men. They're forever interwoven into my life.
NOW...onto the parts that are extra fun :) because why the fuck not!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Music is something i'm extremely passionate about. It honestly should be an official love language because im a professional mixtape maker lol. Since the summertime i've been compiling a playlist of songs specifically for Austin that fit his vibe, and that I think he'd enjoy (if he isn't aware of the songs already). The playlist itself is already linked in my profile, but I wanted to share my top 10 choices for the man himself! He's the best muse i've had in a long time :)
Incubus: Echo
Gary Clark Jr: I Don't Owe You a Thing
Royal Blood: Figure It Out
The Pretty Reckless: Absolution
S. Carey: Have You Stopped to Notice?
Al Green: Let's Stay Together
Beach House: Myth
Mac Miller: Dang!
Tame Impala: The Less I Know the Better
Guitar Song (Demo): Frou Frou
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's been way too many videos of Austin that I watched in 2022. Like...my YouTube history is filled with nothing but him lol. So, I thought i'd compile a list of my top 10 favorite moments of Austin this year. There's a wide variety for everybody, and for some reason incase you haven't seen some of these, you're welcome ;)
Austin's Actors on Actors with Janelle Monae
Austin on SNL as Grandma Lois (Jewish Elvis skit)
Austin on Jimmy Fallon
Austin for Esquire (on his fashion)
Austin for GQ (10 things he can't live without)
Austin at Graceland for Access
Austin for HBO MAX (how he transformed into Elvis)
Austin's "Firsts"
Austin with Baz (I call this one the "manspreading, sleepy, sexy Austin interview lol)
Austin for Deadline
MISC EXTRA VIDS (really short ones)
Austin being super bashful in Japan
Austin posing for the camera at Cannes
Austin eating Elvis's sandwich in Graceland
Austin at the Governor's Awards
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And last but certainly not least, all of these lovely people i've grown to love over the last half of 2022, and I can't thank all of you enough for the friendship and heartwarming laughs you've provided me! If you aren't following them already, please do ♥

I told you guys I'd give you all a mythos dump of the event polearm, and for those who haven't been able to watch the 4.5 program - which is short but it did give a bit of highlights for possible improvement, who's coming with Chiori and the second week banner you can go on hoyolab to get the redeem rewards. Now for the under!
Tumblr media
I am going to try and make it brief or explain to the best of my ability my feelings towards the Dialogues of the Desert Sages along with the rollercoaster ride of it being a polearm than a catalyst.
First and foremost, I had believed this to be a healer weapon - possibly can be used with Mika or Yaoyao, the latter more than the former for healing however both seem like the perfect fit due to the top of the weapon: Caduceus.
The Caduceus has two meanings with it's symbol usage, it's a medical symbol and a symbol for both Hermes/Mercury as well as Iris both ( no I'm not counting Mercury as a separate God, Hermes and Mercury are the same deity that's a rabbit hole I'm not falling down in again ) are mostly known as messenger gods, mostly Hermes himself, as well as it's Latin and Greek meaning: Envoy or Herald's Wand. The Caduceus was also used as a symbol for a Sumerian god who was also a god of vegetation, the underworld and for some reasons war?
However that's another rabbit hole, the Desert Sage being an event weapon for an Alchemy event is an amazing and perfect nod as it's a perfect representation to Hermes because of the planet he's named after: Alchemy - as well as Astrology and Astronomy. Something that seems like a perfect fit for characters like Mona, Lisa and Sucrose if it was a damn catalyst.
The Desert Sage being a polearm is simply because the Caduceus is constantly shown as a staff it's perfect because its the perfect rep of a mythological and constant seen symbol - and I still hate it!
This is a staff! It's a damn staff! Staffs are mostly seen cliche uses as a healer weapon! THIS COULD'VE BEEN BAIZHU'S! Hell I won't be surprised if Changsheng used this in her time as Herblord - THIS COULD'VE BEEN THIS FIRST CATALYST STAFF WHY HOYO!?

Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost
(...but I am very very lost.) - [4]
Kazuha and GN!Reader
CW: Mentioned injury, blood, drowning.
A/N: Not me forgetting I was gonna post this like a billion days ago :’)
-------
Luckily the storm did not last for long, blowing over by the second morning of being stuck in that little cave.
Seeing as it was safe to finally leave Kazuha offered to carry you, though this wasn’t really an offer you could refuse considering, well, you ALMOST DROWNED AND LOOK LIKE A MUMMY. So you accepted even if you can’t exactly enjoy this, being in pain and all.
It wasn’t so bad though, even if your surrounding and the both of you smelled like, well, funky sea water, it was quite nice seeing the rising sun again. You wish you had a camera, or rather, “kamera” if you really were in Genshin to snap a shot of Kazuha against the morning rays.
WHy must he be so pretty? CUrse this bishounen.
You start to wonder if you look similar to him too, with stunning anime but not looks. But you quickly stop yourself because you feel that the shock of seeing yourself will either wake you up ruining the whole dream or cause you some sort of mental break down from looking like a high quality self-insert oc commission of yourself.
You’re not ready for that...and you’ve already got ocs and they’re like at least 300% cooler than you at this moment. And they have like 30 lovers and besties in this world too. You’re not ready for a romantic relationship yet, you’d rather be friends with the characters instead.
But...But what if you were an npc? What if you looked like some generic-
Oh good, Kazuha’s saying something again. You don’t want to go down that train of thought.
“We’ll be taking a rest at the inn closest to the harbor, it’d be best to get you properly cleaned before you see any doctor. Besides,” Kazuha looks down at you with a playful twinkle in his eye. “I’m sure you’d like to see this “bishounen” you want to curse not look so messy, right?”
He did not just-
Kazuha doesn’t react much when you tug his ponytail in retaliation. He just hums amused but he narrows his eyes just slightly. “While I am grateful that you are active, you should settle down, The cuts on your arm could open again.” Right.
You let his hair go and hear him mutter a quiet “thank you” upon release. He was right you shouldn’t be moving too much. Now your hand is even sorer...more sore? Sorest? You’re too tired to think now, the oc/npc crisis wore you out more than you’d like even if it’s just mentally.
If you’re remembering correctly, that inn is the small one just off the main path to the main gate of Liyue. You remember missing it a few times while playing until you did Mona’s quest. You like Mona.
Wait.
If you met Mona would she be able to tell you if you’ve got a constellation in this world? Would it be the same as the one from your home world?CAN SHE TELL YOU YOUR FATE?!?!?!
Nope.
We are not getting into that.
Nuh uh.
Nope.
Not in a thousand years.
-Speaking of thousand of years...what’s the time difference here again? Wasn’t there like a whole every 24hrs in Teyvat is 24mins on Earth???
You begin to question your age but before you are driven into another rabbit hole of thoughts something golden passes by your vision.
IS THAT THE-oh. It’s just a leaf. A pretty leaf.
You take in your surroundings again. You’re much farther from the ocean and just past the Guili Assembly. Damn. A missed opportunity to legit confirm you’re in Genshin and not dreaming.
But you’re distracted by the lovely leaves that pass you by. You reach out to touch one but your left arm is so tired you don’t get far. But Kazuha the sweetheart that he is, catches a leaf fluttering by and gently places it into your hands. Your fingers glide around the leaf. Yep sure does feel like leaf. You bring it to your nose. Yep smells like leaf too.
Kazuha hums again, though it sounds a bit like a laugh? You’re not sure anymore, this leaf is so distracting. You can’t believe how distracted you are.
But soon you find yourself drifting off. The comforting warmth of being in Kazuha’s arms and the gentle swaying as he walked lulling you in and out of consciousness.

My 100% incoherent thoughts on Bunny by Mona Awad:
I don’t even know where to begin. It was a mind-twister but I feel like I gathered a bit of an understanding towards the end but I still have a lot of questions. I wish I finished it before book club cause I have so much I want to talk about with people who have read it.either way It’s definitely worth a read. The question our book club had was (SPOILER): is AVA real, and then to a smaller degree, is Jonah real (or is he real in the end). And we had two camps: yes she’s real, no shes not. But I think it’s in the middle: she was real enough, aka she was conjured, but the Bunnies recognized her, which means she was real, but she wasn’t altogether human and the bunnies made fun of Samantha for that. Which was fucking rude, but also, them killing Ava/the swan is what woke Samantha up, slash brought her back to reality. But they were bitches about it.
I thought the narrative about Max and his existence was really interesting: he was all of her love and hate made manifest. She basically was living the life she wanted to live through Ava and Max. Since she couldn’t take any agency of her own for whatever reason. The Meta nature of the writing and creative process along with her own life and her own struggles was also mind bending and clear somehow at the same time?
I’m also wondering about the four guys in Jonah’s cohort at the end, because it seems as if Jonah’s group had their own weird bunny situation, and if that’s the case I feel as if a whole other can of worms has been opened. And/or all the bunnies and the four Jonah’s guys were fake AND/or the 4 dudes were bunny creations and Jonah was also a bunny creation and that’s why they’re all weird. And poets lol.
Also, the WHOA quote:
“Samantha, my mother says now, sadly, shaking her head. Looking up, up, up at where I’m tangoing in the blue hour with a woman I conjured from a swan. Like I’m a cat that has scrambled up yet another tall tree from which I now refuse to come down. But this time it’s different. Her face says, this is different. This is the tallest one I’ve ever climbed. This is the farthest I’ve ever traveled from the ground. This is the deepest I’ve ever retreated into the golden-green leaves she knows I love so.”
This quote really brought it home for me, helped me understand better what was happening even though I already wondered if there was a sort of schizophrenic occurrence (which I think is still a question, because were their creations real, and if so, is it schizophrenic? Or is that just a creative way of depicting schizophrenia: Samantha couldn’t tell the difference between reality and her own creations, but she could see the horror of the creations of the other girls. Which leads me down a whole other rabbit hole haha.

Reality? Augmented and Virtual? Pfft, Who Needs That? Just Strap On and Yeet into the Future of Art!
Ladies and gents, dudes and dudettes, gather 'round as we dive headfirst into the glittering, neon-drenched rabbit hole of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) art. Now, I know what you're thinking: “Is this just another Professor Pop fever dream?” Well, buckle up, because we’re about to embark on a wild ride that makes Alice's Wonderland look like a Sunday stroll in the park.
First off, let's talk AR. Imagine if Snapchat filters and Instagram reels had a baby with the art world – a baby that grew up on a steady diet of electric Kool-Aid and superhero movies. AR is all about layering digital funkiness over our humdrum reality. Like, why settle for boring old real-world sculptures when you can whip out your phone and see a 3D model of a T-Rex playing a saxophone right in your living room? Yeet, indeed!
Take, for instance, the glorious insanity of AR installations. Picture this: you're waltzing through a park, minding your own business, when BAM! – you hold up your phone and suddenly you're surrounded by Van Gogh's Starry Night swirling around you. But wait, there's more! Tap your screen and now it's a mash-up with Kanye West’s face superimposed on the stars, each twinkling to the beat of "Gold Digger." AR takes traditional art, dunks it in a vat of pop culture references, and serves it up with a side of “OMG, what even is reality anymore?”
Now, let’s slide into the realm of VR. Oh boy, VR! The lovechild of The Matrix and every sci-fi movie ever, where you strap on those oversized goggles and suddenly you’re not just viewing art, you’re inside it. Yes, my friends, VR is the ultimate “choose your own adventure” book but with fewer words and more chances to walk into walls because you forgot you were in your mom’s basement.
Imagine stepping into a virtual gallery. You're no longer just a casual observer; you're Tony Stark flying through a museum of mind-bending creations. Here, a giant, pulsating jellyfish sculpture floats by. There, an interactive 3D model of a black hole swirls ominously, narrated by none other than Morgan Freeman because, obviously, his voice makes everything 1000% more epic. KA-POW!
Speaking of interactive, let's not forget about those VR art experiences that let you go full-on Bob Ross. Don your VR headset, grab your virtual paintbrush, and get ready to paint some “happy little trees” that you can literally walk around. Or, if you're feeling particularly avant-garde, why not create a VR masterpiece that involves neon cats riding on rainbows while quoting Shakespeare? "To yeet, or not to yeet," that is the question.
But wait, it gets wilder. Remember Pokémon GO? That was just the tip of the AR iceberg. Now, artists are creating mixed reality installations that blur the lines between the digital and the physical. Like, picture an art exhibit where you don AR glasses and suddenly the sculptures around you start talking. Not in a creepy, haunted-house way, but more like, “Hey, you look smashing today! Care to know my history?” It’s like Dora the Explorer meets Night at the Museum, but with a dash of Salvador Dalí.
And because we’re living in the age of TikTok and meme culture, these AR and VR art pieces are designed to be as shareable as possible. Snap a selfie with a digital Mona Lisa that dabs when you say “cheese,” or record a video of yourself dancing through a VR Salvador Dalí landscape, because if it didn’t go viral, did it even happen?
Now, here's the kicker: AR and VR art isn't just about creating mind-blowing visuals. It’s about making science meets art a reality. Literally. Imagine virtual galleries where you can explore interactive 3D models of scientific phenomena. Like, ever wanted to take a stroll through a human cell? Pop on your VR headset and shrink down to microscopic size, Ant-Man style, to wander through a nucleus and high-five some ribosomes. Or how about AR experiences where you can see the constellations mapped out in the night sky above you, complete with animated mythological creatures acting out their tales because plain old stargazing is so last century.
These techy art forms are also breaking down barriers, making art more accessible. You don’t need to travel to a far-off museum or shell out big bucks for an art show. Nope, just plop down on your couch, put on your VR headset, and voila! You’re at an exclusive art exhibit in Paris, sipping virtual champagne and nodding knowingly at pieces you pretend to understand. Très chic!
So, what does this all mean for the future? Will we all become digital art connoisseurs, navigating through a sea of virtual Picassos and AR Pollocks? Probably not. But we will have a heck of a lot of fun pretending. The fusion of AR and VR with art is like throwing a rave in the Louvre – it’s chaotic, exhilarating, and a little bit bonkers.
As we hurtle towards this techy art future, remember to keep your sense of humor intact. Whether you’re exploring a VR art space where kittens in space suits perform Hamlet or you're using AR to turn your living room into a disco with Andy Warhol lookalikes, the key is to embrace the absurdity. After all, if we can’t laugh at the idea of a digital Van Gogh quoting Snoop Dogg while floating above our heads, what’s the point?
So, dear students, go forth and dive into the fantastical world of AR and VR art. Strap on those headsets, fire up those apps, and prepare to be amazed, bemused, and probably a little bit confused. Just remember, when someone asks you what you did today, you can proudly say, “I explored the intersection of science and art in a mixed reality installation where Banksy’s graffiti danced to TikTok tunes.” And if they look at you like you're crazy, just smile knowingly and say, “It was lit.”

Green dreams it seems are comin' true
For you, for you
White night tonight's following me
I see, I see
It's a long, long way down
Ooh, but
I got a secret
Yeah I've been reaching up to the sky
I got the power of now
Quietly takin' a bow
Then wondering why somehow
I got the power of now
I like it just fine
I like it just fine
I like it just fine
I like it just fine
Same games with new rules and new names
And no one left to blame
I think they call it fame
Bearing in mind, it takes a toll
Descent the rabbit hole
And hold onto your soul
It's a long, long way down
Ooh, but
I got a secret
Yeah I've been reaching up to the sky
I got the power of now
Quietly takin' a bow
Then wondering why somehow
I got the power of now
I like it just fine
I like it just fine
I like it just fine
I like it just fine

JATP FIC RECS
Oneshots-
All Those Little Moments- A series of the individual, chronological threads that make up the tapestry of the love of Julie and Luke.
It’s Always Been You (Even if it’s fake)- Julie Molina is not an idiot. She’s insanely smart and extremely talented. But, she does tend to do idiotic things. The most idiotic being telling her family that she's dating Luke Patterson and is bringing him home for spring break.
Ray and Rose and that Guy Trevor- Ray's POV on Rose's friendship with Trevor, through the years. (In which Trevor is kind of guilty but also kind of innocent.)
Head Over Knees- That one time Alex had an existential crisis over his knees.
Wrap Me Up- Julie is absolutely miserable. She’s caught a nasty flu and is so busy pretending to be fine that she’s totally pushed away everyone who could be taking care of her. Luckily Luke is more than prepared to step in.
Promises Kept- This is a missing scene from the fic We Found Wonderland. You need to read that first to really understand what's going on here. This cover's Luke's reactions to major events towards the end of We Found Wonderland.
I’m Still Breathing- Julie has asthma and when he was alive Reggie did, too. So, Reggie helps her out and cements himself as her big brother.
I’ll Love you There, Too- In her heart, Julie knew that Luke was going to propose eventually, she just didn’t know that it would be so soon, or how nervous he really was to do it.
This Hurt that I’m Holding’s Gettin’ Heavy-When Carlos got home from school Tuesday afternoon, he wasn’t expecting to find one of Julie’s bandmates in his bedroom, studying his bookshelf.
Come Again Bright Days- Julie and Luke haven’t spoken since they graduated from high school. But one night during their senior year of college, they find themselves in the exact same bar for the exact same reason: they were dragged there by their friends in an attempt to make them feel better after their respective break ups.
But Suddenly from somewhere out of the blue, I see a different light around you- Julie and Luke, family friends, end up sick together. While cooped up sick at Julie’s, a little conversation leads to a lot of secrets.
Like You Could Love Me- Julie hadn't slept in almost 48 hours. Luke was waiting for her on the porch when she gets home. Exhaustion + unspoken feelings and things are about to get interesting.
Not So Secret Relationship- Alex and Willie have been secretly dating for about a month and they've had yet to tell their friends about it. Alex decided he's finally ready to come clean to them.
There’s one thing on my mind- home didn't seem like home anymore for luke patterson, and so he was desperate to find a new place to write music. after an especially brutal fight with his mother, he finds himself in front of l.a. books. he isn't expecting to get much out of it, it was solely a last resort. but then he sees her, julie molina, and he ends up coming back every week just to keep seeing her. bookstore au
I’m Gonna pop some tags- Alex thinks working at Julie's family's thrift shop over the summer is going to be a good way to make money while also hanging out with his friends. Good. Easy. Fun. He isn't prepared for the skater who ran him over to be Ray's new hire.
Always- Luke is in love with Julie, and she loves him too. But it's not meant to be, he's been dead 25 years and she has a whole life to live. He wants to know why they can't just rewrite the stars, and eventually she finds a way.
He’s a little into it- Willex Hockey AU where Willie and Alex are on opposite teams.
Do a Kickflip!-It's Spring 1995, and Julie wants to spend some time at the new skate park. Unbeknownst to her, five boys are waiting to turn her summer (and life) for the better. Or! 5 times Julie ran into Sunset Curve, and 1 time she met with them intentionally.
Multi-Chaptered-
This is Where I want to Be- Luke is going through heaven and hell in his life and things take a turn when a especial someone drops unannounced into his life making him question his sanity. OR: Luke has a wicked beauty as his guardian angel and loses his mind
I’ve Got This Crazy Feeling This Isn’t our First Time Around- One second he is rocking the night away, the next he wakes up bloodied and battered in an alleyway. Found by a frantic curly-haired girl, he comes to realise nothing makes sense. He doesn't know where he is, who she is or how he got there, but one thing's for sure: It's not 1995 anymore.
Walk a Mile in my Doodled Shoes-The one where the boys use their newfound possession abilities to help Julie out of jams.
If I was you (I’d wanna be me too)- When Carrie wakes up, the morning after Julie and the Phantoms play the Orpheum, her father is gone. When her father has a breakdown, Carrie is forced to move in with Julie's family, and must confront some uncomfortable truths - about her family, her life, and herself. A house full of ghosts just comes with the package.
Time Of Our Lives- Alex, Reggie and Luke have been given an unexpected new chance at life. Will they fulfil their dreams this time?
We Found Wonderland- At the end of season one Julie isn’t able to save the boys and they are jolted out of existence. But what if there was another way? Julie finds herself back in 1995 with a chance to stop the boys of Sunset Curve from ever dying at all. But will she able to find her way home afterwards? Will she want to? Or has Alice really gone down the rabbit hole this time...
Midnight at Mona’s- Julie Molina expected many things on her impromptu road trip to Texas. She expected Flynn to be confused but ultimately supportive; she expected to relax and gain a new perspective; and she expected (or at least hoped) to rediscover the music she’d lost over the past year. What she did not expect was to be bunking with cranky rancher Luke Patterson, or the mysterious (and quite possibly magical) karaoke bar that would lead them on an adventure full of new friends, dangerous enemies, fun music, and a whole lot of love.
How Wonderful Life is While You’re in the World- Red, White & Royal Blue but Willex.
Our Life is a Playlist- They were best friends, they were family, and Julie had come to believe that they were soulmates. By the time the kids had turned thirteen, life had started teaching them the hardest lessons.
That’s Life- Julie Molina feels invisible most of the time. So what happens when she finds herself unexpectedly "married" to her handsome, popular, longtime-crush, Luke Patterson? She is about to find out. When she and Luke are randomly paired up to work on a project together for their Reproductive Health class, they have to learn to navigate the world of adulthood side-by-side for better or worse. All while dealing with the reality and drama of high school. Julie quickly discovers she's not as invisible as she once thought she was, especially to Luke. Does extra time spent together mean sparks will finally fly between them, or will it all go up in flames?

we knew this needed a cut...
01. summer stained The first time she convinces him to run off with her, there isn’t much talking involved; it’s tripping, giggling, that SUDDEN UNDERSTANDING that she knew the way, come, fall down this rabbit hole with me. The others know, she knows, he’s got a crush, doesn’t he, and Alice, well, she loves to take advantage when the timing’s right, dip her fingers where they don’t belong, dirty herself, just for the sake of dragging someone along with her for the ride of it. They think they’re young and foolish and careless and oh how right they are - consequence holds little weight for her, she’s here for a good time, not a long one, and right now she’s got her sights made fixed.
He takes her hand, she laces their fingers, she whispers to him that, she sees how he keeps stealing glances. Maybe he likes her, forwards, upside, he hasn’t seen her come on down, but she imagines he’d LIKE THE VIEW. In a daze, he tells her he wants to buy her something pretty, she only smiles vicious and tells him that she’d prefer him wearing something pretty instead, and he looks so cute turning red like that, adorable with that intrigue painting his features like a fucking Mona Lisa.
It’s still new, she dances with him only the day before, on camera, for views and for cash and for the sake of fulfilling her own curious need to know him. And now that she does, Alice can’t say that she’s ENTIRELY SATISFIED, but she wants to be. To take a bite, to see where this goes! But she won’t throw him to the wolves or the knaves just yet, it’s them and it’s 3am and the streets in this middle of nowhere neighbourhood are empty but she’s got him by the hand, picking him flowers from overhanging trees for his hair. “You’re kind of alright, you know.” a grin that never leaves her, she’s affixed, she’s perpetually driven on her own energy. “Isn’t this better than lunch?”
02. inside, outside The doorbell rings, and she’s late to rise; blankets that drip from her bed, the space is small, cramped, crowded with endless pretty things that hang from the wall, drape across surfaces. All there’s really room for is the tiny kitchenette, a desk, a bed that folds into a couch, a rug that’s seen BETTER DAYS. On the squat table that sits alongside the bed, weed crumbs sprinkled over the surface of it, from last night’s stoned attempt to roll another joint, however out of her head she happened to be. Pretty off it (or on one, rather) by the looks of it.
BRIIIING - the doorbell sounds out, insistent.
A noisy yawn, Alice opens the doorframe, last night’s dress dripping from her frame, the shoulder off, the pearl white of her bra’s flashing somewhere. Hoodie, sunglasses... it doesn’t ring out in sudden familiarity until she’s rubbing her eyes, that pause that ROUNDS PREGNANT between them before she realizes belatedly who’s at her door, eyes rounding with that sudden crash of alertness, a smile hanging like the DJ on her lips. “Whoa- did I win a prize or something?”
Pretty curls, those crisp clothes, he’s in complete contrast to her smudgy expression, the sleazy grin, but he’s all in, isn’t he, when she’s got him by the wrist and she pulls him in. “You’ll get us caught at this rate. Unless...” a finger traces along his chest, her hold transferring to one of the laces that hang off his hoodie. “YOU’RE INTO THAT? Wow.” guess the rumours are true. But she laughs and gives him a bit of a push, back, peeling through the organised chaos of her room, turning on the tap so that she can pour out two glasses, pushing one along the countertop for him to take. “But really... what are you here for? I don’t expect you make house calls all that often.”
03. strike a pose They’re all on drugs - why else would they hire her? Because of some videos on Youtube, on TikTok? Everyone’s trying to promote something, but, she thinks Leo’s the main reason she’s here playing it up on camera now, the love interest for some new music video, they tell her she’s GOT THE FACE FOR IT. Another cheap ploy for exploitation, and she’ll take it, because why not? The world’s all out to get you! Better make your cash along the way while you’ve got the opportunity for it. They call her crazy, she says she’s just an entrepreneur. And right now, she’s making a hell of a memory, isn’t she?
Dipped in glitter, knees sinking over him; the lights are hot, the motions grow repetitive, but she’s finding, the only way to keep the mood up is to enjoy yourself. Make it a little different each time, after all, isn’t that what each take is meant to DRAW OUT? Laugh here, smile here, that flicker of something that lurks beneath the surface, it’s easier to forget the camera, when you get lost in the moment. Don’t kiss; everything is about the insinuation of, the fans don’t really accept the real thing, they need to know, need to picture themselves in her place, it’s all just another fantasy, and, she can live with that.
Everyone needs their escape, after all, and she’s ratcheting hers in right now, forehead pressed to his, breathing in the same air, she, looks into his eyes and can feel his heart speed racing from where she’s pressed and tucked in close. “Wow. HAPPY TO SEE ME, are we?” breezily, she laughs, Alice’s blonde hair left pooling against his shoulder, where she comes to rest as he pretends to sing, sing, sing out! Only another hour before they wrap, swap the scene, start again, with something new, she washes up in the back, chats with the staff over, pictures, over the mundane. But she goes out to watch, and finds even now, he’s still looking her way.
04. studio session How long has she been hanging out? This stray cat’s found a favourite place to roost, it seems, and Leo’s become her most darling plaything, wrapped up tight about her little finger. He’d adorn it with rings if he could, but all his presents meet the same fate with her initial delight, then indifference, a bed full of purses, her closet piled high with clothes. But he loves that her life now contains TRACES OF HIM everywhere, and she tells him it’s because they’re pretty, like the rings he does give her, that she ties up with string, hangs haphazard, about the canopy of her futon that she’s raised up for privacy.
She’s there when he tours now, and when he’s not, they find their places, risky and on the clock. That’s half the fun of it, but tonight he’s asked her to the studio, he works, the lights dim, the silhouette of him cut against the glow of panels that do things she COULDN’T EVEN DREAM OF. Alice plays on her phone, lets him do what he must, pops a pill when she’s bored, finds herself in Wonderland in her daydreams. Leo comes to join her when he’s playing it back, a look of concentration on his face that feels foreign and familiar, both, and she hangs over his shoulder, and kisses his cheek, but when he sees her listening, that’s when he turns on her.
A pull at her collar, his lips at her neck - her attention flutters, a skip-beat to her heart, but, Alice’s hands catch fast at his hands. “What, you feeling BORED?” that drawl of her voice, the way that she stares, knowing. “Liar. What is this...” nervous? Excited? A little of everything, what an intoxicating mix of emotion that wrings through him, hips pressing to her thigh like a distraction that she definitely needs, but-- “don’t you want me listening to something pretty that you’ve made?”
05. morning light             Morning after. Empty room.
Fingers scratch at the empty mattress beside her, and, instantly, SHE KNOWS. Like a sucker punch, her head is pounding, too many drinks, the vague memory of having lost a bet. How eyes meet across the room, they’re never too far, he’s, never too far, and tonight his hands graze at her waist and he speaks so sweetly, like the way she’d roll her eyes at if she were sober. She’s heard all this before. Heard him, play, games with hearts and souls, and yet, she’s kissing him in the grimy smudged reflection in her elevator, and, they’re stumbling inside and stripping down like they can’t wait, and then--
-- and then she’s waking up in another room. Not empty this time. Must have dozed off, while someone’s in the shower, and, he hands her the money he owes her and she smiles the way he’d like her too, thanks him, too, though she’s ANGRY that she fell asleep. Pockets the cash and pouts, girlishly, before slipping on her shirt, ignoring how the hotel sheets scratched against her and, he left bruises somewhere on her arm. She’s got places to be, and he’s got work, or something she thinks, but she kisses him on his cheek and she knows she’ll never see him again. Stretch--
-- another morning. A deep sleep, ALL TOO RESTFUL, the shift beneath her letting her know she’s in her own bed. On top of beautiful things, though it feels crowded, an eye cracking open to Leo’s frame wrapped up in her sheets. Still taken in sleep, curly hair left a mess, and this time she smiles and means it, finger reaching out to brush it back, push it out of the way. The morning spills innocuous within the squalid space, through airy curtains, shifting so that she could sit upwards, stretching, ooh... yeah. Yes. These are the kind of mornings that she loves most of all.

My 'Pretty Little Liars' Obsession Led Me To My Best Friend
Tumblr media
“Got a secret, can you keep it?” Well, I’ve got one: Though Pretty Little Liars ended in 2017, the seven-season mystery thriller schemed its way into being an integral part of my life for the long haul, so much so that the opening credits live in my head rent-free. To this day, each time I hear the sinister theme song — “Secret” by The Pierces — I’m brought right back to my childhood comfort show (ahem, obsession). The visuals begin with a swipe of mascara, the smear of red lipstick, and a clasp of a heel onto a porcelain doll, which makes me feel like I’m watching someone get pampered for prom. Until, of course, it cuts to four girls standing in front of a casket. It's a chilling moment, one that, until Season 6B, ended with Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale) delivering her iconic “shh.” I got cast under the show’s spell the first time I saw it, and I wasn’t the only one: Pretty Little Liars led me to my best friend.
Ironically, plotlines about deceit and betrayal actually helped ignite a long-lasting friendship. In 2011, the only other person I knew to be watching PLL was my now-BFF, Taylor, who’s been by my side for over a decade. We were only about 11 and 12 when it premiered, so shout out to our parents for letting us watch a show that dealt with very adult themes like substance use disorder, assault, and grief. Unlike our classmates, who watched tween-appropriate hits like iCarly and Victorious, we became PLL stans.
As fans know, the show is loosely based on the Sara Shepard YA series of the same name, and the first book was my entry point into the PLL universe. I loved reading about blackmailers and murderers navigating high school, but I thought I was the only one who was into it. (Was this my ~I’m different~ complex showing, or were my peers just naturally more inclined to recap Dance Moms? I’ll never know.) So, Taylor first struck up a conversation with me at school because she spotted the first PLL book on my desk — you know, the one painted with porcelain wax dolls warning to “never trust a pretty girl with an ugly secret” in a Gothic script. She asked if I’d watched the TV adaptation yet and we immediately exchanged phone numbers to text about upcoming episodes. We then fell into the fandom. Fast.
I’d never talked to Taylor before this interaction — we had only been in a few classes together — but I always saw her as approachable and friendly. Universally, the beginning of middle school is a big and terrifying year when kids from different elementary schools unite. Eager to meet new people, I reached for friendship at any chance I could get. Taylor made it easy. Aside from being a genuinely kind person (a rare trait for a middle schooler!), she was fangirling over the same thing as me.
Fast forward over a decade later, and the show still feels timeless, especially in its accurate depictions of how dramatic high school can get. It’s no surprise there’s a PLL HBO Max reboot on the way along with the remakes of other buzzy shows from that era (hello, 2010s nostalgia). Ah. It was a simpler time. Back then, Freeform was still ABC Family and for me, Tuesdays meant one thing: PLL is on. What first started as a solo viewing experience soon became a designated hangout time, a time slot reserved for me and Taylor to gush over how much we loved Ashley Benson. (We still do!)
The series had a vibe similar to Gossip Girl or Bridgerton in that a mysterious, unidentifiable pot-stirrer keeps fans guessing each episode, but it was arguably so much better since “A,” the anonymous villain, is out for, you know, murder. Ultimately, it was the type of whodunit that made me and Taylor (and millions of viewers) go down a couple of Reddit rabbit holes — remember the “Aria is A” suspicion? — and this is where my and Taylor’s experience with fan theories began.
Oh, and let’s not forget the location. PLL takes place in the fictional suburb of Rosewood, Pennsylvania, and for two girls from Bucks Country — aka the Philadelphia ‘burbs — we ate it up. The beloved “Welcome to the Dollhouse” episode was exceptionally creepy not only because the Liars get locked into a life-size replica of their bedrooms, but also because our real neighborhood looks extremely similar to their hometown. It operates like Rosewood, too, in that small-town gossip travels at lightning speed.
The Pennsylvania-based plotline also made it easier for us to identify with the characters, who felt like extensions of ourselves. In many ways, we got to know each other through their personalities. Taylor is studious and high-achieving, obviously a Spencer. And I owned feather earrings because I saw Lucy Hale sport them in Season 1, so obviously an Aria. Asking “Are you more of a Hanna or an Emily?” held as much weight in 2012 as asking someone their rising sign in 2021. While it might not say much, it also tells you everything you need to know about a person.
PLL got its start right before live-tweeting shows became popularized, so when we weren’t together, I used to text Taylor on my slide-out keyboard phone (only Zillennials will remember) to compare notes without stumbling upon many spoilers. They read something like this: “Caleb and Hanna are soul mates, TBH.” Like every other fan, we theorized about why A had to be Ian… and Melissa… and Jenna… and Mona… and, you get the point. When our elaborate speculations ran cold, we’d pause DVR’d episodes to gather more clues, like glimpses of Red Coat’s face in her second season introduction, or inspections of those eerie-gloved hands assembling dolls and sharpening knives at the end of each episode.
This game of Clue made room for conversations about all the things. We were in high school during the show’s peak, so it felt like the Liars had laid the groundwork for how to operate our school’s halls. Rosewood High was not traditional — uh, multiple students came back from the dead (*cough* Mona and Alison) — but it did prepare us for the stressors of college applications and first romantic relationships. In fact, Benson’s Hanna Marin would be proud of my matchmaking skills because back then, I introduced Taylor to the boyfriend she’s still with today.
As we both grew up with the show, our friendship got even deeper. The Liars weren’t the only ones to share secrets, and I found it incredibly easy to confide in Taylor. She’s trustworthy, level-headed, compassionate, and an excellent listener. She’s someone I know will always pick up on the second ring and is the type of friend to be there with advice, reassurance, and a quick-witted one-liner. She once joked about never needing a diary because we’ve transcribed the past 10 years of our lives via text.
Our bond has remained strong, especially because the most outrageous PLL-esque plotlines of our lives are ones we’ve experienced together. I love Taylor because I don’t have to provide background for my stories. I’m even so familiar with the cast of characters in her life that when someone re-enters after a long period, I like to say they Alison DiLaurentis’ed her.
And on the off-chance she’s not there to witness something meaningful happen to me IRL, she’s always ready to decipher what went down over texts or dinner and drinks — just like we did when we were teens trying to figure out who A was (minus the wine, of course).
The way she can reconstruct my way of thinking and offer up a perspective I hadn’t seen before is almost paranormal. Whether these are Taylor’s naturally given talents or traits learned from peeling back all the layers of the series, I’m not sure. But she’s always there to decode situations with me — whether they relate to a TV show or during moments when I feel lost.
I couldn’t be more thankful that Taylor entered my life and that PLL played a role in our friendship. I feel so incredibly lucky to know someone like her. Plus, now I have someone who is obligated to watch the reboot with me. Ali was right: Friends do share secrets. And she’s ~quite literally~ the reason Taylor’s got all of mine. Spencer and Aria, you’ve got some competition.

Persona 5 AU
Ok, here it is!
This is going from the beginning of the au to izuku’s persona awakening
Cw: Mental breakdown mention
In this AU, izuku doesn’t meet all-might
He heads straight home, and All-Might catches the sludge on his own
He only gets through a week at aldera before having a stress-induced mental breakdown
Just…constant bullying, mixed in with ruminating on Bakugo’s taunt is what caused it
Izuku spends 2-3 weeks in a children’s hospital recuperating and floating in and out of awareness
Even after he’s discharged, he still has those moments
He decides not to go back to aldera, as the mere thought makes him want to vomit
(The kids there cheer when that’s revealed, but Bakugo feels a twinge of guilt. He crushes it down.)
While at home, izuku notices a story about a teacher in Tokyo getting done-in by the “phantom thieves” while he was recuperating
He looks into it more, and finds the Phan-site
He falls into that rabbit hole HARD
He even begins posting a thread on who he thinks the phantom thieves are
Lots of people give their 2 cents; all in all, it’s a pretty popular thread
However, after Madarame is captured (which in this au takes place on may 23rd, since my version of Ren doesn’t like having stuff hang over him for too long) is when izuku decides to truly take action
He begs his mom to let him live in Tokyo and attend middle school there
She, obviously, doesn’t want him to go at first, but after heavy promises of calling her every night, and making sure he always has something on his person to defend himself, and most importantly, tell her if he’s getting bullied, she relents
He gets an apartment in akihabara and attends middle school there (it’s ok there, most kids there don’t hate him on sight for his lack of quirk, so that’s a plus)
He keeps investigating, and gets confronted in a pm by Mishima to hey, could you not
Izuku wants to know why, but Mishima gives no actual answer, and instead bans him for a few days and deletes the thread
While sulking, he gets a pm from somebody named Alibaba
Alibaba lurked around the site, and took an interest in izuku’s thread to discover the phantom thieves
They’ll lend their services, but on 1 condition: whatever izuku finds, Alibaba gets to know first
Around June 11th, he goes to Leblanc (since his mom recommended it for the food, and to meet an old friend)
There he makes quick friends with sojiro, and they discuss his mom
Context: Inko was a famous lawyer who was a prodigy in keeping innocent people from facing unjust punishments. She met Sojiro and Wakaba while at a cafe and the three of them became good friends
However, there was a massive political scandal that Inko was on the “wrong” side of (in reality, Shido didn’t like how close she was to discovering his Cabal, so he set that scandal up to discredit her)
What didn’t help matters was the fact that she supported Toranosuke Yoshida in that year’s election, who himself had been involved in a scandal a few years earlier
So she left, disgraced, met Hisashi, and had izuku
Anyway, Sojiro’s charge and his friends enter, ready for some yummy hotpot
Izuku & them banter a bit, and Mona gets pets from izuku
He leaves, and asks Alibaba to look into Ren Amamiya and his friends, as well as the Kamoshida case
Something about that friend group seems weird…
They comply, and by June 13th, he’s got school records and such, and an unredacted version of the Kamoshida case
The student that started Kamoshida’s downfall, Shiho Suzui, was a girl on the volleyball team who’d been M*l*st*d by the teacher
Her best friend? Ann Takamaki, who, along with Suzui, seemed to be a target of harassment by kamoshida, and both went to middle school with Ryuji Sakamoto
Sakamoto himself had assaulted Kamoshida in his first year, earning both a limp and the track team’s disbandment
Ryuji and Ren had been late to their first day of second year, which was a mark on their reports
Looking at it from a certain point of view, it seems like Ann & Ryuji had a vendetta, and dragged Ren into it
On the other hand, Yusuke Kitagawa from Kosei didn’t seem like he had any involvement, at least until Izuku reads that Kitagawa was Madarame’s pupil
The pieces click together, and Izuku, in order to confirm his suspicion, hangs out at Leblanc more often
(This is by June 15th btw)
He also follows them around to catch them in the act
On the 26th, he manages to catch them going into Kaneshiro’s palace
He gets swept up in it, and appears in the cognitive Shibuya
He follows the Thieves into the actual palace (later, when asked how the hell he got up there, he’d shrug and say “I’m not really sure myself”)
Ends up getting captured and brought to shadow Kaneshiro
They banter a bit, with him accidentally revealing both his surname and his quirklessness, and Kaneshiro taunts the thieves by saying he’ll execute this weird green kid that showed up
The thieves make it to where Kaneshiro & Izuku are, and a whole interaction takes place where the context from earlier pops up
Kaneshiro tells the story of inko, and muses about just how much money her son would fetch on the black market, even willing to cancel Makoto’s debt
They say no, obvi, and the shadow says things about how quirkless are only useful for whatever price they can fetch (they are quite rare, after all, and many rich people might want one or two around, for servants that can’t fight back), and any other thing they want to pursue is just delaying the inevitable
Izuku has his shut up, Hannibal! Moment, and awakens his persona: John Constantine
