What I would have done differently if I were the writer for Why Her

Okay, so the drama ended months ago. But I still have a lot to say. Probably because it didn’t lived up to my expectations. It started off with so much potential but quickly fizzled out as the episodes progressed. I feel like the writer, in general, does well when it comes to writing the ‘crime/legal action’ part of the drama but absolutely fails when it comes to writing the romance part. As an avid romance drama watcher as well as romance fiction reader, here are some of the things I would have done differently:

1. Gong Chan’s Past (Teenage Gong Chan)

Firstly, I would have Hwang Inyeop play his high schooler self. It just makes it easier to connect to his character if we were to actually recognize him from the get go. I feel like the show’s first mistake was casting another actor to play his childhood counterpart. I would understand if his backstory took place a significant amount of years before, which would require a physically younger actor to play. But, in this case, his backstory took place only a few years before. Specifically during his high school years. So it wouldn’t make sense for him to look that different. Honestly, they could’ve just styled Hwang Inyeop in a way that would make his past and present self different enough for Soo Jae not to immediately recognize him. I mean, Soojae’s a lawyer and she would’ve met countless of people and handled thousands cases and has been through A LOT within those years before she met Gong Chan again. It would have been perfectly understandable that she would not have recognized Gong Chan. While, yes, Gong Chan or Dong Gu’s case has a major impact on her but I would believe that it’s an event that she would want to forget so it would have been perfectly alright for her character to completely erase any memory of Dong Gu who was the first client she took and (purposely) failed on. Plus, Dong Gu legally changed his name to Gong Chan so I don’t think it would have clicked for her anyways. I would actually picture Hwang Inyeop to be styled like the current Gong Chan (with the sleek coconut hairstyle) as the teenage Dong Gu/Gong Chan. Just imagine him in a school uniform instead.

2. The Main Characters’ Reunion (First Meeting)

This is how I would picture their reunion to be like:

Instead of making them meet as a lecturer and student, I would have made them meet at a later time. What I meant by that is I would not make them cross paths in law school. It would have been better for Gong Chan to have normal student life and Soo Jae is never a lecturer in the law school. It would make their relationship easier to digest for most viewers. Also that first meeting in the market and that slap should not have happened. It’s weird and doesn’t make sense that Gong Chan would not recognize her. I would make Gong Chan’s feelings for her more of an admiration rather than outright romantic. It would make a lot more sense this way. He admired and saw how she tried her best to defend him and was the only one who believed in him. Eventhough she lost the case, he saw how genuine she was. So when he got acquitted and got out from jail, he was determined to be a lawyer just like her and give others the same hope and trust she gave him.  I, personally, would have made Gong Chan know that Soo Jae works under TK and he studied hard in law school to get a spot as an intern at TK law firm so that he’ll be able to meet the person who he has looked up to for years. So he went into the law firm expecting Soo Jae to be the lawyer who believed in him years ago only to be disappointed once he became an intern and worked under her because she’s so different and cold now. Just style up Hwang Inyeop’s hair to expose some forehead and maybe throw in some glasses and nicely fitted suit. He would look like the perfect adult Gong Chan. Different enough to not look like his teenage self for Soo Jae to put two and two together.

3. How the romance will progress 

Okay, since Gong Chan is an intern working under Soo Jae in this re-imagined plot, this is how their dynamics is gonna be. Just imagine Gong Chan in Song Mirim’s place. Lol. Except we are gonna throw in some love-hate dynamics in there as well. Remember how Gong Chan is gonna get disappointed because the Soo Jae he knew is not the Soo Jae now? So he’s gonna be working under Soo Jae reluctantly but will get constantly confused by her behaviour. There will be times when he will find her unlikeable but there will be times when there will be glimpses of her past self. They will one day be assigned to handle the ‘suicide’ case which Soo Jae will be accused of instigating. While Gong Chan may find Soo Jae ‘unlikeable’ at this point but he believes in her innocence just like how she believed him years ago. So they worked on the case together and slowly, in the process, started being closer. At this point, Gong Chan’s crush on Soo Jae blossomed because now he knows that the 'cold’ Soo Jae was just a facade whereas Soo Jae started developing strange feelings but felt conflicted because of her past.

4. The Big Reveal

Now that we have already build a foundation for their blooming relationship, this is where the all the angst can come in. In this case, I would probably start with the reveal of Soo Jae having a hidden child. Because I feel, at this point, Gong Chan would just do anything to protect Soo Jae and her having a child would not damper his feelings for her. He would embrace it wholeheartedly. In fact, while it did not happen in the actual drama, I would make it so that Soo Jae would take over custody and her daughter went to her safely. Keyword: SAFELY. Then we would be able to possibly have cute moments of Gong Chan bonding with Soo Jae’s daughter and in the process, gaining more brownie points from Soo Jae. *Cue Soo Jae looking at Gong Chan bonding with Jae Yi(her daughter) and cue a montage of her imagining scenarios of them as a family unit*

So how is the Gong Chan/Dong Gu reveal gonna be like? It would roughly go the same way with a few changes. So Gong Chan entered TK Lawfirm with 2 agendas in his mind, One is to meet the person he admired and the second one is to investigate and secretly gain intel regarding his sister’s murder. So when the news of his sister’s remains being discovered came out, Soo Jae got reminded of the past and the kid she defended. Gong Chan was, of course, devasted and went to his secret lair. Just like how the original show went, Gong Chan left his secret room door opened. That’s when Soo Jae discovered it when she was searching for him and found out that Gong Chan was the Dong Gu from years ago. This new information shooked her and she got overwhelmed with guilt. Because what Gong Chan didn’t know was that Soo Jae was threatened and was forced to purposely lose the case relating to him. THE ANGST. So now cue Soo Jae trying to distance herself from Gong Chan. So remember the whole thing between Soo Jae and Choi Tae Guk? Choi Tae Guk is pissed at Soo Jae and is especially more pissed now that Soo Jae has custody of his granddaughter. So he decided to find out out Soo Jae’s weakness and finds out about the relationship between Gong Chan and her. In the process, he also discovered the identity of Gong Chan as Dong Gu because he was the one who framed Dong Gu years ago to cover up his son’s crime. 

Gong Chan is now even more confident that Choi Tae Guk has something to do with his sister’s murder and him being framed and sent to jail for it so he came to confront him. In order to destroy Gong Chan’s psyche, Choi Tae Guk revealed that Soo Jae lost the case on purpose and was the one who sent him to jail. This revelation wrecked Gong Chan because all along he believed that Soo Jae believed in him but now he doesn’t even know if it’s true. But Gong Chan wanted to know the truth from Soo Jae directly. And so he confronted Soo Jae and Soo Jae told the whole truth about her being threatened and that she was sorry. Gong Chan forgave her because he loves her and promised that they will work together to bring Choi Tae Guk down. And the rest of the story will follow the original. Except the ending epilogue would be a time skip of Gong Chan and Soo Jae getting married and being a cute family together with Jae Yi. We get to see Soo Jae working as a lecturer now in a law school & we also see Gong Chan opening his own law firm. The End :)

What do you think Jaeha, Zeno and So-woon(Akatsuki no Yona) reaction to a S/O who's a goddess more ancient than the dragons and uses human form to travel for a long time yet lose her memories every century as protection mechanism she placed on herself as she keeps doing the mistake of holding mortals too dear then falling into grief whenever they die, now she's thinking of turning them to a fellow god(privilege that can given to a god's soulmate only) after they die and she's finally willing to go back to heaven and restore her full memories?

Synopsis: The reader is an ancient God who travels as a human, but every century loses her memory to protect themselves. Now, she's debating on turning her love interest into a god to return to heaven with her.

BEING THE WOMANIZER he is, Jae-ha has come across his fair share of pretty faces; but he didn't expect a goddess to be one of them. It was evident that you were from the heavens, blessed with ineffable amounts of beauty and an ambiance just as tempting. It was no surprise the man would look to pursue you.

It's decided; he shall join you in the afterlife. As your one and only, to bask in your beauty and grace until the sun touches the horizon. Somehow you managed to sweep the playboy off his feet in record-breaking time, although that's supposedly his job. It was almost embarrassing how fast he accepted your proposal, so much so that a deep red tinge can be seen dusting his cheeks. Never had he been so enamored with a woman, one way out of his league at that.

Now the memory aspect has piqued his interest. Relationships are precious, insightful even, so why would you want to forget them? Regardless, he respects your decision. Yet over time, Jae-Ha soon realizes he'd rather you lose all memories that don't include him. After all, he's a bit jealous of all the experiences you may have had with your past lovers, and he'd rather not have any more competition than needed.

“Oh my, I believe it's that time, isn't it? Let us go to the heavens above where we shall become one. Unfortunately, I don't think I can take the anticipation much longer darling.”

A REAL LIFE GODDESS in the flesh? Woah, this must be his lucky day. Like with most things in life, Zeno is ecstatic. Through the many centuries he's lived, not once has he been graced with the presence of a deity such as yourself. Beautiful doesn't begin to describe the beauty that endowed you. It was as though he was looking a fairy tale princess right in the eyes. Various compliments spilled from his smiling lips faster than he could account for. If he was feeling even the slightest bit of shame you had not noticed.

This being your human form enticed him to dig up the real you. He would hate to k now you're hiding anything from him. You are not obligated to unveil what you desire not to, but he'd rather bask in as much of your authenticity as "humanely" possible. Zeno is quite jealous of your ability to forget about the past, and until he met you he wished to do the same. Maybe then would he be able to start all over again and experience life one step at a time with you sticking closely by his side.

Zeno's dragon grants him the gift of immortality so dying is out of the question. He has lived to see many dragons come and go, greeted by death and to god knows where. It saddens him that even with his new powers he won't be able to fulfill your wishes. In the end, Zeno's purpose is to serve Yona and no one else. But only one woman can make his heart beat so sporadically, rendering him speechless each time they meet eyes.

“It's a shame, y'know? I really wish I could go with you and keep you company. Hah—!? Don't cry; we'll figure something out, I'm sure of it!”

SOMEONE SO POWERFUL should have never taken interest in him, but oh is he glad they did. A deity, from the heavens nonetheless, had come before him with curiosity at that. Just a short conversation with you proved how extensive your knowledge is. And from the sound of it, you were much older than many mythical beings of this time. So as one does, Soo-Won ponders ways to use that to his advantage, even if it meant deceiving you. However, that was before he put his plan into motion.

Soo-Won was destined to fall deeper and deeper into the alluring solace of the goddess he had merely hoped to use. Now, the man wished to undress her, uncovering every inch of her ravishing skin; so perfect and warm. He wished to taint her with his blooded hands so she could learn to love his true nature as he loved hers. He realizes his selfishness but he simply doesn't care. There shall be no lies between you two and he'll make sure of it.

He would long for nothing more than to be with you until his last breath, even if he does not deserve to. The sins he's committed should send him nowhere but the raging depths of hell. However, he will not lose you to those cocky bastards that resided above the clouds who were waiting to take his place. And he will never allow you to erase anything regarding your future, together for eternity.

My controversial Kdrama opinions

1. Ko Moon Young was just a psychologically messed up girl. She isn't the 'girlpower' or 'badass' that the Kdrama fandom likes to dub her into.

2. In 'Hotel del Luna', they could've just chucked the entire character of Gu Chansung out of the window and gave Chang Myung a rebirth/rebirths,make him go through various trials and tribulations to repent and earn Man Wol's forgiveness. Didn't have to make it unnecessarily tragic.

3. Unnecessarily tragic reminds me, the 'realistic' ending of 2521 was a JOKE. There was NO point of developing such a power couple if they were to break up for such a mundane reason.

4. Romance genre isn't Song Kang's 'thing'. He shines better as an actor in non-romance genres.

5. Had they focused on developing Ju Kyung as an individual character who finally learns how to completely take a stand for herself instead of dangling her between Suho and Seojun, 'True Beauty' would've become a more popular and appreciated drama.

6. The love line between Hwang InYeop and Seo Hyun Jin's character in 'Why her: Oh Soo Jae' was absolutely unnecessary and awkward.

7. Jo Bo Ah and Ahn Bo Hyun and an amazing chemistry in 'Military Prosecutor: Do Bae Man'. However, they could've developed a slowburn romance between them instead of abruptly putting a kiss sequence in the last episode out of nowhere.

8. In 'Snowdrop', Eun Young Ro forgiving Soo Ho later on didn't make sense. Their kiss sequence was purely fan service,nothing else.

9. Individual acting aside,Kim Hye Yoon had more chemistry with Lee Jae Wook(2nd lead) than Rowoon(main lead) in 'Extraordinary You'.

10. Writers are overusing 'Let's kill off the main character and make the show tragically memorable' trope wayyy too much.

11. As much as it physically hurts me given the chemistry of the actors,Choi Do Il and Oh In Joo not having any proper romantic sequence till the end of 'Little Women' makes sense to the storyline(the shipper me might've wanted a hug though).

12. Also the writers should stop doing the 'lets make the second lead better than the main lead'. Its annoying to see one person actually making sincere effort for the girl but the girl ends up totally ignoring their effort and like the ML. Not in just Kdramas but in all sorts of dramas. I actually saw a Chinese drama where the second lead finally turned into a villain. I LITERALLY commented 'good for him' lmao.

13. Sunho in 'Cheer Up' is problematic. Neither his sad backstory nor his sincere feelings for Haeyi changes that fact.

14. The Heirs(2013) drama wasted an opportunity to pair Young Do(Kim Woobin) with Yoo Rachel(Kim Jiwon). No, they didn't need to be 'siblings'. I'd have chosen the two heartbroken yet sassy and tough people romance over the sappy romance of the main couple in a heartbeat. And the actors would've NAILED it.

15. Jojo not ending up with Sunho in 'Love Alarm' finally broke the 'Cinderella and Prince Charming' fairytale trope of Kdramas. That girl was too messed up in the head . She didn't need the rich,fierce and impulsive lover, but the quite,patient and thoughtful one. So don't go ahead and say the ending sucked. Maybe they could've made things more coherent, but no the ending didn't suck.

16. Moon Dong Eun should have remained single, with the last episode ending with him crossing paths with Do Yeong, with Yeonjin & gang & all the revenge agenda gone, she could hv offered him a smile and a game of Go, keeping an open ending for them. Lee Do Hyun was fabulous in playing Yeojeong and their chemistry was amazing. But they could hv just been partners in crime with their teamwork without the romantic plot between them.

17. No. Ryu Shi Oh doesn't give second lead syndrome. Byun Woo Seok is a very good actor but he plays the villain in 'Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon' and not anti-hero. Lee Yoo Mi and him should be paired opposite to e/o in some other project in the future but Shi Oh and Nam Soon ain't the 'enemies to lovers' you think it is.

18. After Byun Woo Seok's popularity skyrocketed with 'Lovely Runner', many people dug up his previous works & lamented over not noticing him earlier. People even felt sad that he got his recognition late. But honestly, he wasn't very noticeable as an actor in his earlier stages imo. He kept working hard on his acting skills to get to where he is now. What I applaud about him is not giving up & putting the efforts in all right places but he didn't start from a 100.

19. I'm actually glad they brought back the fresh romcoms in 2024. Got tired of consistently watching crime thrillers,school violence,zombie apocalypse and stuff. I mean, of course they're good. But the key ingredient for Kdramas will always be those cringey classic slightly over-the-top romcoms.

20. Cha Eunwoo's acting in 'My ID is Gangnam Beauty' isn't as bad as people try to make it. His character actually demanded those stank cold expressions that he delivered. In fact, I'd say his character Do Kyeong Seok was one of the first Kdrama male leads that actually understood and empathised with the FL's situation and protected her in his own way without going over-the-top cliche "she is my yeoja and only I can bother her" about it.

Chapter 1

You were woken up by your door buzzer going off in your apartment. Sitting up in bed, you looked at the time. 8:00 am. You huffed your comforter off yourself and got up.

“Who in the hell?”

You walked out of your bedroom, down the hall, and to the door, pressing the button by the speaker on the wall. “Who is it?”

“Hobi.” You let out a sigh of relief, it was your best friend, Jung Hoseok. At least it wasn’t a stranger. “I brought iced coffee.”

You could hear the excitement in his voice, and you couldn’t possibly say no to an iced coffee.

“Come up.” You spoke into the speaker and unlocked your door for him.

You sat down in one of the chairs at your kitchen island and looked at your phone, re-reading some texts from the previous night that made you sick to your stomach.

The door opened suddenly, making you put your phone down.

“I got you vanilla.” Hoseok spoke as he walked through the door, then shut it behind him.

You forced a smile that you know he could see right through as he walked closer to you. Damn him, he could read you like a book.

“Something wrong?” He looked worried. “You look like you’ve been crying.”

“Because I have.” You took the coffee from him, trying not to cry again. “Fucking Min-jae cheated on me last night.”

“(Y/N)!” Hoseok was shocked. “I’m so sorry.” He came around behind you to give you a hug.

“How did you find out?” He asked, still hugging you.

“Soo Yun texted me.” You replied, referring to your other friend in the modeling business. You put your arm over his to hug him back. “He was with some girl. I have no idea who she was, neither did she. They were all over each other at some party. Must have been why he kind of blew me off yesterday.”

You felt your eyes getting watery, and you wiped them with your sweatshirt sleeve. “He’s been treating me like shit lately, I guess I should have saw it coming.”

“No, no, no. Don’t cry.” Hoseok hugged you tighter if that was even possible, giving you a kiss on the temple. “You’re no good for him anyways.”

“But Hobi, I have to ask at some point.” You started thinking about every stupid guy that broke your heart. Too many to count. “Why don’t these guys stay with me, like am I intimidating or something?”

For fucks sake, you were a model. Men should be throwing themselves towards you and dying to get a date with you. In your case, the exact opposite was happening. You seemed to not be able to keep a good man to save your life.

“I don’t think you’re intimidating.” Hoseok stated, straightening up and grabbing his coffee to take a sip.

“Well, you’ve known me for a while.” You answered, smirking. “Unless I intimidated you then, I’m not sure.”

“Oh shush.” Hoseok smiled at you.

“Anyways.” You cleared your throat, picking up your phone. “I guess I have some things to delete.”

“Hell yes you do.” Hoseok egged you on. “His fucking phone number should be the first one.”

You sighed as you deleted his phone number and a ton of other stuff off of your phone. “You know, I feel like I should just give up on dating for a while. I think I’m trying too hard.”

“Why do you say that?” Hoseok sipped his coffee.

“Well first of all, I think I’m learning my lesson with dating actors.” You slightly laughed at yourself. “And I don’t know…I feel like I tend to force things.”

“Hey now.” Hoseok laughed. “Do not look at me for advice if you are not going to like what I have to say. I’ve been telling you that Min-Jae was an ass for the past like six months.”

“Well people on the outside can see things that others don’t.” You took a sip of your coffee. “Good coffee though.”

“Yeah, that’s right, change the subject because I called you out.” Hoseok laughed, making you hit his arm.

“Do you have any plans for the day?” You asked him.

“I have to go to practice later.” He answered. “And then I’m not sure. Why?”

“I don’t know. I am supposed to have a shoot today, but I was almost going to text my manager to cancel it.” You spoke, glancing at your phone. “But on a day like this it’s nice to have your hair and makeup done.” You laughed to yourself.

“Yeah, you know if you need anything, I’m here.” Hoseok spoke, sweetness in his voice.

“I know, thank you.” You answered sincerely.

“Okay, well I better get going.” Hoseok stepped towards the door and pointed at you. “You call me if you need me, okay?”

“Yes, yes.” You answered, walking towards him. “But can you please give me another hug before you leave?”

He smiled at you, pulling you in for a big hug. “Of course.”

You sniffled again, making Hoseok pull away quickly to look at your face, making you try to cover it instantly.

“Sorry!” You slightly laughed at yourself. “Trying not to cry again. You really mean a lot to me, Hobi. I have cried over too many guys to you.”

He kissed you on the forehead. “Yeah, I know. I’ll see you soon, okay?”

Later that night, you had left your photoshoot and decided to drive over to Hoseok’s apartment. You had borrowed one of his bags and promised to give it back to him, so you planned to return it. You didn’t bother texting or calling ahead of time, if he wasn’t home, it was no issue as you had one of his spare keys.

Upon arrival, you were able to let yourself into the elevator that led right up to Hoseok’s apartment.

You were always envious of the fact that he had access to a private elevator; yeah, you could afford a place like that, but you always hated the commotion of moving.

The elevator stopped at his apartment, and the doors opened into his living room. Hoseok was in a chair facing the elevator, sitting across from someone that you noticed turned around to look at you when Hoseok stood up, walking over to greet you.

“(Y/N)!” Hoseok gave you a hug before you took off your tennis shoes on the rug. “You didn’t tell me you were coming over.”

You laughed. “Yeah, I decided to finally give this back to you.” You handed him his Off-White bag that you had borrowed from him months ago.

“Wow, six months later? You’re so kind.” Hoseok teased you.

“Hey, I could have just waited until you forgot I had it and just kept it.”

You both walked into the living room, going to sit down.

“You remember Yoongi, right?” Hoseok asked, motioning towards Yoongi sitting on one of the couches.

“Yeah, I remember.” You answered, looking at Yoongi.

Yoongi took off his hat to quickly fluff his blonde hair. “Yeah, we’ve met a few times. How are you, (Y/N)?”

“Eh, good I guess.” You answered, avoiding telling him all your business. “What have you guys been up to?”

“Yoongi and I were discussing the song that he’s producing for me.” Hoseok replied, making Yoongi nod.

“Oh?” You asked, crossing your legs. “Will I get to hear a sample?”

Hoseok laughed, motioning towards Yoongi. “That’s for Yoongi hyung to decide.”

Yoongi smiled at you, and you noticed it to be cute. “If I’m feeling generous, we’ll see.”

“I was partly kidding.” You chuckled. “I know you must be so busy.”

Before Yoongi could say anything, Hoseok jumped in.

“(Y/N), what was your shoot for again?” He asked, running his fingers through his hair. “You said Louis Vuitton?”

“What?” You realized your eyes were on Yoongi still, but Hoseok didn’t notice. “Yeah, Louis Vuitton. I always like working with them. My manager says she is trying to get me a deal with Skims. I’m not sure if that will happen, but I’ll cross my fingers.”

There was a moment of silence after Hoseok nodded, and you checked your phone to see the time and noticed it was getting late.

“I’d better get going, it’s getting later than id like it to be.” You laughed at yourself.

“It’s only 10:30.” Hoseok joked. “What are you, an old lady?”

“Yes.” You answered and stood up, the comment even making Yoongi laugh. “Plus, I still have makeup on from earlier.”

You walked towards the elevator, putting your tennis shoes back on. “I’ll text you later, Hobi.”

Yoongi got up from where he was sitting. “I’m going to head home too. (Y/N), I’ll walk to your car.” He walked towards the elevator by you, putting his shoes back on.

“Yoongi, you don’t have to.”

He pushed the elevator button. “No, I want to. It’s dark outside, and I know they say that the city is safe, but you never know.”

He let you step into the elevator in front of him before he said bye to Hoseok. The elevator doors closed, and it was just you and Yoongi.

You were trying to not be awkward about anything, even though this was the first time you were both alone together.

Yoongi looked at you. “So, what’s new?”

You laughed slightly. “You don’t have to fill the silence, Yoongi.”

That made him laugh. “Yeah, I know. But I’m just asking. Read any good books? You and your boyfriend do anything interesting?”

Your smile almost faded instantly at the reminder of him. “No, actually my boyfriend and I are through.”

Yoongi seemed terribly upset with himself to ask you that, but there was no way he could have known anything.

“Oh! I’m so sorry, I had no idea.”

The elevator doors opened to the lobby.

“Its okay, I wouldn’t expect you to have known.” You assured Yoongi, who looked more than sorry right now.

You both walked outside, and to the parking garage down the street.

“Lead the way, I’m not sure that we parked in the same area.” Yoongi spoke, walking next to you.

You saw your car from a short distance away, hitting the button on your key fob to unlock it.

“That’s it, my car over there.” You pointed to an all-black Nissan Skyline GTR R34.

“Holy shit.” Yoongi swore, almost at a loss for words. “That’s your car?”

“Well, if it’s not, tell the real owner I’m sorry and I want my money back for the new exhaust.” You joked.

You both were standing near it now, Yoongi looking at the car in awe.

“No offense.” He put his hand up almost in defense. “But I would never expect you to drive a car like this.”

You laughed. “No, I get it.”

“You just don’t see these that much.” Yoongi added. “When did you get it?”

“A few years ago, when I got my first like real modeling job that paid good.” You leaned against the car. “I always told myself I’d own one, so with that money I had one imported.”

Yoongi nodded.

“I added some things to it.” You continued. “New exhaust, new steering wheel, custom rims, racing seats. With the new exhaust, sometimes when you downshift, flames come out.”

Yoongi was looking at you so intensely that it made you suddenly nervous.

“Oh, sorry.” You covered your face, realizing you were blushing embarrassingly. “Don’t get me talking about cars, I’ll talk all night long.”

Yoongi smiled at you. “I think its nice. Listen, you’ll have to give me a ride sometime.”

“Yeah?” You asked, an excited, yet nervous feeling in the pit of your stomach.

Yoongi nodded. “Yeah, you can come to my studio. That’s almost my second home. Genius Lab. Hoseok can give you the details.”

“Okay.”

“I’ll let you go home now.” Yoongi laughed slightly. “Have a good night, (Y/N.)”

You smiled at him. “Goodnight Yoongi.”

You opened your car door, sliding into the seat, watching Yoongi walk away and get into his car. You put your key into the ignition, turning it to start. Before you could even drive away, you leaned back in your seat, replaying in your head what the fuck just happened.

synopsis: having to work at a 'jeon' company was already stressful as it was, what about dating the ceo, jeon wonwoo? what would happen in this unexpected situation? would both of you come out as enemies? friends? lovers? unexpected situations occur, and you two would have to encounter them together.

a vibration on the couch pulled him away from his train of thoughts, following the noise to under a cushion, he carefully lifts your head off his lap, as he sighs in relief. he lifts the cushion up looking at the contact name 'oppa💘🦭' wonwoo accepts the call with a visible frown on his face.

"hello sunshine!! how are you? is work still stressful for you last i called you, you ranted about your mean boss?" the unknown person comments. wonwoo wastes no time in asking "who are you." "i should be the one asking, who are you? why are you holding my angel's phone?" "nevermind bye." "don't you hang up on me-"

sighing, wonwoo walks to one of the rooms, coming back with a blanket in his arms. he places it over you before going into the guest room and going to sleep.

you woke up from the sound of your alarm, finding yourself in a big fluffy blanket from your room. 'wonwoo must've put this here...didn't think he'll be such a gentleman,' you thought to yourself. switching on your phone to look at your notifications as your eyes go wide when you saw the missed calls from your brother. 9 missed calls and 23 texts ranging from 'WHO IS THAT MAN' 'DO YOU WANT ME TO COME THERE RIGHT NOW' 'actually i can't its an hours drive BUT STILL.'

 quickly dialing his number, he responds after 3 rings. "OH MY GOD ARE YOU OKAY? DID YOU HAVE A MAN OVER LAST NIGHT?" "OH MY GOD SEOKMIN STOP SCREAMING ITS FUCKING 8 IN THE MORNING." "oh... heh sorry...." "yes i had a guy over why?" "well maybe he answered my call and i got protective," "HE DID WHAT?" "well look who's screaming now," you could feel his mischievous smirk at the other side of the line. "sorry seokmin i'll call you back, love you oppa."

going to find wonwoo, you storm to the bedroom but you are met with a note on the door. 'hey y/n, i had to attend to something so i left first, see you at the office.' rolling your eyes you quickly shower and throw on any decent outfit you found. you had to get to the bottom of this.

trying to compose yourself before going for wonwoo, you quickly enter a taxi and go to your office. but luck didn't seem to be on your side that day. met with a charge of $40 and a grumpy driver. adding on to that, jae happened to reach at the same time, following you all the way to the lift. "soo where are you headed?" opening your mouth, only needing to say one word for him to shut up "boyfriend." he awkwardly shifts from left leg to the right. 'since when did elevator rides get this long...?' you thought to yourself. the lift reached his level after an eternity, "well, see you later then..." he dashed out of the lift before you could mutter a response back.

reaching the level which wonwoo worked on, it was more tense than your level. a shiver went up your spine as you walked past the other workers. they were all quietly typing away on their keyboards, and there was minimum communication. you turned the corner and saw hansol arranging papers. his face lit up as he saw your presence. "hey miss y/n! thank god you are here, wonwoo is rather colder than usual today, he did not talk to me at all, he only walked into his office right after he arrived. since you're here, could you figure out what is wrong with him? and perhaps cheer him up too? hope i'm not asking for much! thank you!" trying to hold up a genuine smile, you nodded, and proceeded to knock on the door.

a faint "come in" could be heard as you slowly turn back as hansol mouths a 'good luck', two thumbs up as he scrunches his nose. you turn back to the door and enter. wonwoo is seated at his desk, glasses perched up on his nose like how you saw him for the first time. however, his eyebrows were furrowed, a worried look in his eyes as he tried to work.

 "oh y/n..." "wonwoo." "hopefully you saw my message, hope you are okay with that-" "cut the small talk, you know what i am here for. with all due respect, we must still respect each other's boundaries. being my 'boyfriend' does not mean that you can answer any of my calls." "does that mean you are hiding something y/n? you could have already told me that you were dating somebody, it would have been easier from the start." scoffing, you shake you head. "maybe if you'd not jump to conclusions and listen. the person who called, he is my brother, don't get any ideas alright? rather than this conversation getting heated, i think we both need some space." with that, you stormed out of the room.

hansol looked at you, "kinda got a hint...you didn't shut the door all the way so i could hear a tad bit of the conversation, hope you are going to be okay," hansol gives you a grin as you wave, walking off to do your work. you walked back to your desk with more forceful steps, plopping yourself on the seat before replying to your emails. you were close to screaming at him, thankfully you didn't. you did not even want to think about it at that point.

you could not be bothered with the looks of others as they throw at you already, nor the comments they throw at you. "oh i bet she tricked him so she could get in his pants." "ugh...i thought jeon wonwoo would have  better taste." and the list of comments goes on... you could simply roll your eyes at their boldness to make such remarks so loudly, its as if they want you to hear. well, you got yourself into this mess. no way wonwoo was going to let you break of the agreement anytime sooner and jae would just pounce at you the second he got the news that you 'broke up.' gosh....this is too complicated and stressful.

grabbing your wallet and phone to go for your lunch, you'd ask hansol but you don't want to risk getting in contact with wonwoo again. so....lunch alone it is..... strolling to the lift, placing your airpods in your ears-mostly to not hear the chatter of the others. a certain blue-headed guy interrupted your 'alone time' you raised your eyebrows at him as his hands signalled to take off your airpods. "are you y/n? the supposed girlfriend of jeon wonwoo?" your jaw clenched as you forcefully let out a "yes." "oh..my.GOD...YOU'RE SO PRETTY! oh how rude of me, i haven't even introduced myself." using his hand to hit his mouth as he nagged himself you could make out the words 'how could you forget common curtsey' and the rest of the words were scrambled. he finally faces you. "i am boo seungkwan, i work in the office of jeon wonwoo so you might not see me often since i'm always piled up in that paperwork...but hi!" you felt the sides of your lips curl up at his character. "you probably know me already don't you? its nice to meet you," seungkwan lets out a bright smile. you reach out your hand for him to shake but he throws his arm around your shoulder, "well, i see you're alone for lunch aren't ya? my best friend is busy and can't go with me today soo lets go together!" 

you were at the usual barbeque place with seungkwan. both of you just glued to your seat at this point. according to seungkwan, he knows all sorts of drama and can gossip with literally anybody. somehow all the news would go to him and he would spill it to anybody-on the condition that they buy him an iced americano. which was actually fair to you. he's actually a really good listener too? you were telling him everything about your 'relationship' with wonwoo...except the part where its all fake. you really did not want to talk about anything related to wonwoo at the moment. but seungkwan somehow managed make you spill most of the information.

his eyes bulging and eyebrows raised and mouth trying to gasp as he eats his piece of meat you explained, he would add in comments from time to time like "never thought mr jeon would do that..." "NO WAY HOW COULD HE?" "i refuse to believe whatever you are telling me right now." you could only close your eyes and nod.

you two headed back when you saw your other colleagues going out of the door, the bell leaving a 'ding' noise with every swing which always annoyed you. grabbing his coat in one hand and holding the door open with the other, you held a grin and thanked him before concluding your conversation.

walking into your office building, you bid your goodbyes to seungkwan,"it was nice talking to you, hope to do this more often!" seungkwan chirps. nodding your head and waving, he gives one final wave before turning around and leaving. the smile from your face practically vanished from your face when you saw wonwoo in the distance looking at you with a raised eyebrow before walking over to you, hands in pockets like his usual stance.

you talked to yourself in your mind trying to get yourself out of the position you were in. 'no. no i do not want this day to get possibly worse ugh move your legs please y/n. yes that eyebrow raise is hot as fuck but please cooperate with me this time.' cursing wonwoo's long legs, you could swear he teleported right in front of you. "can we talk." you shook your head and turned around. "are you fucking serious? our colleagues are watching and you decide to act like a child to get more rumors?" he says under his breath. only then you realize the amount of eyes that are on the two of you. "follow me." wonwoo starts walking at that stupid pace which is too fast for you,  "could you slow down and actually look like you care for your 'girlfriend'?" you said at a voice only audible for him to hear.

hearing a sigh from him and deciding to ignore it, he slows down before following him to a spare meeting room.

"come over to my house after work." he says, hands returning to his sides after closing the door. he leans against the door, looking at you with his usual blank look. "um what?" your face heating up at the possibility of- "don't get any ideas." wonwoo breaks your imaginative bubble above you. "i simply just want to have dinner to make up for what happened earlier." crossing your arms, you look back at him right in his eyes, "fine." he nods before an awkward silence fills the room.

you break the silence, "soo what are you going to do about the rumors of us? uh i mean like not i heard any its just that there might be people not believing us dating." "not like i care about them, they won't dare to open their mouth in front of me anyways." you frown at his answer, "but there are still girls trying to get you to sleep with them, please tell me you see those girls with the tight fitting dresses..." wonwoo's lips curled up into a smirk, "well ms jealous, would you rather me make out infront of them with you? or or how about i go and chain you to me the whole day to show them you are 'mine'."

wonwoo leans onto the table, getting closer to you. you place both of your palms on the table too, your faces only inches apart. "well, i'd not mind that....sir." "tsk don't play with me, you know i won't mind." with that, he shakes his head and leaves the room. you really didn't understand... you don't like jeon wonwoo but why does he make you feel such things... there's no time to think about these things... nevermind.

timeskip

when you were packing your stuff into your bag, after finishing all your assignments, you got a message.

6:47pm

wonwoo: i'm waiting in the carpark.

y/n: okay let me pack my stuff first

you quickly go into the lift and descend to the carpark level. you see his car already waiting at the drop of point. wonwoo was holding the steering wheel with one arm and the other was hitting the gear with his index finger at a constant pace. you open the door and wonwoo gives you a nod in acknowledgement before heading off to his house

you could say yourself, you were impressed. wonwoo's house looked wayy more expensive that you thought it will but it had a minimalist interior, most of his furniture in black and white. wonwoo walked over to you, helping you take off your coat and place it on the rack. "oh thank you," you mumble. wonwoo darts his eyes left to the right before saying "uhm i invited you to dinner but i may have forgotten that my personal chef was unwell..." "oh that's fine" you reply, "i mean you can just cook right?" "um...about that, i can't." "WHAAT??" "shut up, don't rub the fact in even more." "well, do you have any alternatives?" wonwoo raises his eyebrows at you, "of course i do. JISOO COME HERE." a certain brown haired man peeks his head at the hallway before walking towards the two of you.

"yes sir? how can i help you?" "could you bring me my 'no chef situation' food?" "yes, sure thing sir." with that jisoo walks away and in less than two minutes, he comes back holding....a pair of cup noodle packets?? "i really thought you would have some 'jeon wonwoo expensive' food as a backup?" "zip it, i'm a human too okay? i need some instant noodles sometimes." you fall back onto the couch, waiting for the noodles to finish cooking.

"oh shit i almost forgot" wonwoo quickly got up to his feet and walked off somewhere. he comes back with a bouquet of roses with a feint blush dusted across his cheeks. his head slightly turned to the side, not being able to look into your eyes. you look at the flowers in his hands in awe, "thank you so much wonwoo," "hope you accept my gift as an apology" he stutters out. you grab the flowers in your hand and delicately place them beside your noodles on the table.

you two take your cups full of noddle's and start eating them. you decide to get to know him even more. "so although our get to know each other session got cut off last time, tell me more about you." "you really do? i have a real shitty past to be honest." - "well, at least you have me as an outlet to get rid of all that pent up stress." "alright."

wonwoo sighs before he continues, both of  "i had to become the ceo of this company when i was barely 18, my father decided to pass it on because my grandfather got ill and my father had to take care of him. by the way, i’m sorry if i bore you because i really suck at all of this. so my father just threw all the work at me with no guidance whatsoever but just to be his 'slave' and make sure the company does well. luckily i had hansol who was there from day 1, he helped me with my work and mistakes although being almost as clueless as i was. but its just that i did not realize that it would mean i would be busy so often. from back to back meetings and with phone calls at any time of the day, there is always some sort of stress when in my position. guess nobody was there for me to help me with my struggles."

you speak up, "no, don't say that wonwoo i'm here okay? just give me a ring anytime you want to talk about anything, don't worry although i'm your fake girlfriend, i will make sure you know you are not alone in this.

there’s a moment of silence before wonwoo goes and gives you the warmest hug. you were speechless. you slowly come to the realization and wrap your arms around his too. "thank you..for being there for me.." wonwoo says in almost an inaudible whisper. he slowly returns back to his normal position on the couch. you both continue eating, "well... wanna watch something...? i'm choosing though, no more sci-fi please."

reaching for the remote, and going to netflix, you see the show '50 shades of grey' at the recently played show column. your eyes go wide before turning to him. "what? i'm a man too okay? i'm mature enough for these things and i heard it's a good show." "no i’m just shocked you watched this for the first time ONLY NOW??"  he gives you a frown, "i’m sorry i don't have much time to watch a show and possibly get horny and jerk off?" you roll your eyes and settle on the show puss in boots.

"y'know, puss reminds me of you." you comment. he squints his eyes at that, trying to find any sort of relevance. "how?" he inquires. "well, maybe because you look like a cat too. you're charming like him too." wonwoo gave you a smug look "well, tell me more." "that's for another day, lets play something shall we?" he sighs, "well do you have any board games here?" "uh well..." wonwoo scratches his head-"so i may only have uno..." "eh that'll do." you say.

wonwoo walks over and opens one of the drawers. he pulls out the deck and you grab it from his arms. splitting the cards and shuffling them with ease. "you know the rules don't you?" "please i am not that boring to not know how to play this game." you let out a chuckle. you deal the cards, 7 each. an idea pops into your head. "well, how about we do drinking and uno. get your stash of liquour out hm? " you tell wonwoo. "didn't know you drunk." wonwoo blankly says before walking off and coming back with four bottles of soju in his hands. "what's your tolerance?" he asks you. "uhm one and a half maybe?" he scoffs at that. "you?" you shoot back. "three." - "wow show off."  "you asked me, i respond."

"plus..two." wonwoo joyfully says. "no you plus two!" you answer, "plus another two...HAHAHAHA" wonwoo triumphs "plus....four!" you exclaim, "nooo...YOU plus....uh FOUR!!!" wonwoo rejoices. "awh man.. thought i got you.." you start to sob in your hand, the other picking up eight cards. you didn't care that you two were tipsy, anyways the day after was a saturday so who cares? you were nearly gone and wonwoo was still quite stable compared to you. "skip your turn, its mine ! and uno! so... hah plus another four and I WIN IN YOUR FACE AHAHA," wonwoo cheers. "you must've cheated! you are so mean." you say with a huff.

"alright alright time for you to sleep missy. i'll bring you to the guest room" wonwoo grabs your arms and picks you up bridal style and carries you up the stairs. "goodnght y/n" wonwoo says with a small smile on his face after he places you on the bed. "goodnight y/n" he says. "tuck me in." "ugh….fine.." "can't you sleep here with me?" you ask, grabbing his arm. "no i won't, let me go." "fine. go then..just when i thought i liked you." wonwoo's body stiffens at that. "goodnight, you are just drunk." wonwoo quickly strides out of the room before closing the door in a haste. he decided he'll bring this up when the time was right... but he couldn't help his heart from racing when he heard that.
