Recommend me some of ur favourite books, movies or shows

This is the best question I have ever received!

Let's start with books

My number one absolute favourite book ever is Solitaire by Alice Oseman, The main character is Tori Spring (Charlie Springs Sisters from Heartstopper) I adore Tori as a character SO much bc I can relate to her on so many levels. There is also a Michael Holden which is also AWESOME they are both so real and the storyline is so interesting but it's not a love story

And then there is also The Wicker King by K.Ancrum it's kinda dark but not a thriller. It's about two best friends August and Jack which are really codependent. Jacks mind is fucked and he is hallucinating a bunch of weird stuff and they both try to fix it on their own. It used to be my very favourite book until I read solitaire.

The wickerking fandom is pretty much none existent and there is a lot of "hate" about the book on the Internet from the few people that know and have read the book bc its badly written or the storyline is cringe and that the characters codependency is stulid but I think that is bullshit.

Movie wise it's Harry Potter loved them when I was little and still do don't get me wrong but nowadays I get more exited about the little marauders mentionings in the movies

Top 1 fav movie is 10 things I hate about you

I just love 90s/2000s romcoms and this is the best one. Kat Stratford is just an awesome character and Heath Ledger is also starring in it. I easily watch this movie a couple times a month

Now series

Gilmore girls just bc it is very comforting for me bc I used to watch it with my mom when I was little

BBC Sherlock it's just GREAT

And Stranger Things. I didn't want to watch it for YEARS bc it was so overhyped on the Internet and I didnt want to watch another super hyped series and it ending up being the most boring shit I've ever seen

But then they started to promote season 4 and I gave in and started it and now im obsessed:)

The physical books I read in August. Two e books are not shown because I got them from my library. I finally read #auroraburning and I really disliked the ending. I have to wait till the next book is out and I really don’t like that! I finally finished that german Thriller #vierzweieins which was a bit meh. It wasn’t as gripping as I liked it to be. Then, on a whim, I got the last book #powerwoman shown here from a colleague to read. I liked it as well but there were some things concerning the translation I felt a teeny tiny bit disappointed. As the mentioned e books: I read #wickerking wich was okay. Not mind blown. And I read the first volume of #giantdays which I really liked. I wish my library had the other volumes as well. Reseña y opinión rápida de:  El rey de mimbre, K. Ancrum

The Wicker King  o El rey de mimbre en español, es un “trhiller extraordinario” según algunos desconocidos promotores de la nueva literatura. Mucho se sabe que, cuando un libro muy coqueto, lleno de colores, flechitas, referencias y demás, aparece se debe agarrar con pinzas. Generalmente se busca pescar personas con estas coloridas ediciones, ya muertas, desde su concepción. ¿Por qué? Bueno, creo yo que estos libros de nuevas generaciones no es que sean malos de por sí, sino que los lectores ya formados (digámosle) no los consumen y los jóvenes que sí solo les leen una o dos veces como mucho y luego quedan impregnados en sus bibliotecas indefinidamente. Muchos, es más, no pasan la primera o segunda edición antes de su declive. Es que muchos, por más ostentosos que sean, no pueden ocultar las falencias internas.

Bueno, vamos al grano. 

La obra  trata sobre dos grandes amigos que, en la infancia, un juego quedó perpetuado en sus vidas, y que luego llevaría adelante la trama de dicha obra. Ellos son Jack y August. La autora no utilizó al clásico estudiante yankee en uno de ellos, sino que dividió el cliché en ambos. Jack conforme avanza la “trama” comienza a alucinar y ver un mundo diferente ambientado en ese juego que ambos tenían de pequeños. Mientras que August, no ve nada de ello, pero es super dependiente de Jack y está dispuesto a hacer todo lo que este le diga. 

En lo que, por descarte, podría ser la problemática de la obra, August acompaña y ayuda a Jack a realizar varias cosas para evitar que un rey malvado del mundo imaginario llegue. Las visiones de Jack son cada vez peores y August no sabe cómo ayudarlo, siendo que él no puede ver ni participar en nada de ese mundo imaginario. Aún así, no llega a haber ningún problema entre ambos mundos. Cuando aparenta haber un problema entre ambos mundos la cosa se soluciona con un viaje corto y sin dramas, lo cual es decepcionante. 

Los personajes son variados pero poco importantes y los conflictos entre ellos, pocos de por sí, no llegan a nada relevante. 

Conclusión:

La historia es plana y sin ningún atractivo. Al avanzar parece que en algún momento August puede estar o no cerca de tocar o experimentar algo de ese mundo fantástico de Jack, pero nunca es así. Todos los problemas son resueltos sin grandes sacrificios y sin mucho esfuerzo. Conforme llegamos al final queda en evidencia el conflicto de August, sobre su dependencia de Jack, pero al final nada extraordinario sucede y ambos terminan juntos en la vida cotidiana como si todo hubiese sido una experiencia momentánea. 

La verdad me parece una historia indecisa de la autora y con tintes irrelevantes. Hay varios juegos que ella hace para denotar algún símbolo sexual entre ambos pero eso, creo, va más en las publicaciones de fanfiction que en una obra literaria. Lo que más me disgustó es que al final hay promoción de un mundo de fantasía ambientado en el mundo de Jack, por lo que la lectura parece más un bocado para que vayan a consumir sus demás obra, haciéndola perder la poca personalidad que de por sí tenía el libro.
