Marquez Valdes-Scantling scores on a 19-yard touchdown pass from QB Patrick Mahomes during the AFC Conference Championship.
The Cincinnati Bengals versus the Kansas City Chiefs was the matchup of the year. We like to paint the matchup as Joe Burrow vs Patrick Mahomes and how Burrow and the Bengals were 3-0 against Mohomes and the Chiefs. It’s never QB vs QB. The defense plays a tremendous importance to who wins these games. Prior performances show that Mahomes held his own in each of those loses. Twice the game went into overtime with the Bengals defense making a play to seal the game.
This weekend showed just how special Mahomes could be during the Chiefs win. Without their top two wideouts, Marquez Valdes-Scantling chose to have his best performance yet. The 5th year wideout is in his first season with the Chiefs. He opened up his night with a hitch up the right sideline. Next he caught a body twisting corner route between two defenders. Valdes-Scantling’s longest play came on a flat route where he caught the ball and exploded up the field, shaking 3 defenders in route to a 29-yard gain.
He finished the night with 6 catches for 116 yards and 1 touchdown. By default Marquez is the wideout of the week.
My early prediction is the Chiefs will beat the Eagles in the SuperBowl. Mahomes is a better quarterback than Jalen Hurts who appears to not be 100% healthy. Philly does have a better wideout core but the person delivering the ball is most important. At the end of the day I feel Mahomes avenges his lost to Tom Brady and takes it out on the Eagles.

Raiders: Davante Adams Says Jimmy Garoppolo Is “One Of The Best I’ve Been Around”
What say you, Raiders fans? Does Davante Adams' recent comment shut down any trade rumors regarding his unhappiness in Vegas? Or is it merely a throwaway quote that is nothing more than lip service from Adams to Garoppolo?
The Las Vegas Raiders are fresh off a Monday Night Football victory vs. the Packers. Although things got shaky throughout the game, Josh McDaniels’ crew rallied as Jimmy Garoppolo did just enough on offense while the defense carried the team across the finish line. One player who didn’t have a major impact, at least not on the stat sheet, is star wideout Davante Adams. Davante Adams Is The Straw…

ive said it before and i will keep saying it: i am utterly obsessed with your nfl au and honestly WR is so goddamned perfect for pierre i cannot cope, even now he’s absolutely the stereotypical wr who knows that he’s the absolute dogs bollocks and who can pull out the kind of runs and catches that scares the shit out of every defence and looks so obnoxiously smug every time.
(also fwiw im in the uk and still obsessed with it)
kshsksmdkd omfg i love u!! thank u for being an nfl au enthusiast w me 🫶
anyway honestly the only reason he's not a WR in the main nfl au is that i'm folding him and charles into an existing team w/existing players already and pierre could Not compete physically w the dudes on the actual roster. also ive talked myself into obsession over runningback pierre :/
but like. you're sooo right that he's lowkey a natural wideout. he's certainly got the ego for it, and i can SEE him practicing one handed catches just to show off for the fans during pre-game warmups. he's got that shifty nature about him that defense HATE. he's quick on his feet and he's a route running god. yards after catch are where he does most of his magic

Travis Kelce has high praise for ‘beast with the ball’ Kadarius Toney
Travis Kelce has high praise for ‘beast with the ball’ Kadarius Toney
Kadarius Toney is expected to make his Chiefs debut Sunday against the Titans and Travis Kelce thinks the speedy wideout could provide a spark to the Kansas City offense. Kelce, on his “New Heights” podcast with brother Jason, said he’s familiar with his new teammate’s abilities from watching him at the University of Florida and thinks Toney’s transition from the Giants to the Chiefs will be…

LOVE IT!
Tumblr media
I woke up early this morning, before 6 am. Work stuff, kid’s sick, whatever. But then I couldn’t really get back to sleep. So I headed out to the bathroom, and on the way, I thought I’d check and see if I landed the New York Football Giants Defense and Special Teams unit that I’d put a waiver wire claim on the night before. Turned on my computer, and guess what? I did land those NY Football Giants![1]
But then I saw something else. And that something else is truly a top 5 moment for me this season. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Matt Ryan Week Seven OMFG Bidding War:
Tumblr media
Ironically this all happened about 24 hours before the Moved On From Matt Ryan Bowl between Dan Romans and myself kicks off. As I am sure everyone remembers, I traded Michael Carter, RB for the Jets, for Matt Ryan after week 1.[2] But then I signed the Other Prince Who Was Promised Kenny Pickett ahead of Week 5, which caused me to bench Matt Ryan. And then I watched the Colts play the Broncos on TNF and saw the Corpse formally known as Matt Ryan actually play a football game. Frankly watching a Matt Ryan that I had just benched was one of the prouder moments I’ve had this year, because Matt Ryan looked like the worse QB in the league. He threw 0 TDs, 2 picks, got sacked 6 times, and fumbled twice. So I dropped Matt Ryan.
But then Matt Ryan dropped 31 points week 6. He was 42/58(!) for 389 yards and had 3 TDs and no interceptions last week against the Jags.[3]
The waiver wire is tough.[4] And QBs are scarce. Listen, the Mighty Boom started Skylar Thompson last week in a disaster. And the Falcons QB room makes Ian look like he’s a serial killer collecting the worst QBs in the NFL: He’s got Mac Jones, Cooper Rush and Justin Fields. He’s previously started Baker Mayfield, so Matty Ice would have been a big get for Ian. And you gotta play one QB, you kind of got to play two, right?
But Matt Ryan? I only really listen to one fantasy football podcast. And when they talked about streaming QBs this week, they mentioned Matt Ryan’s Jags line. And they said to pay no attention to that line, because they’ve seen Matt Ryan play football just like I have. It doesn’t mean anything.
Good luck Boom. Anyways, here are some things on Amazon I found that are much better uses for $569:[5]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[1] I need the Giants because the steady eddy D/St unit I’d signed a few weeks before (Fly Mighty Eagles Fly) are on a bye this week. I really like this Eagles unit and I really really don’t want to drop them. It’s always a struggle to fill out the bottom of your lineup, your TE, D, and K, and I think I’ve finally got the Jesus’s bottom all figured out: Ertz, Eagles & Buttkicker. But that puts me in IR roster hell. If James Connor (currently on IR and now officially questionable) is healthy, he’s gotta go in my starting 10 because BOTH Cooper Kupp and Justin Jefferson are on bye, and my only other two rostered wideouts (SHOUTOUT BERRIOS) are kind of emergency staring this week. James Connor is playing Thursday, along with Jameis Winston, also on my roster, maybe playing probably not but also probably not “out.” If Conner is ruled out before TNF I’m good, I can keep him in the IR, and move the Giants to the starting 10. But if he’s a go, I gotta both play him and cut somebody else. The decision gets much more difficult if Jameis is a go too and he starts. (Last week he was healthy enough to be a back-up a-la Teddy Two Gloves? WTF). Anyways, IR bye week stuff, amirite? Keep your eyes on my roster for updates to this ever-developing situation.
[2] BTW still kinda think I might of won that trade. Dano started Carter week 2, he score 10 points, but Carter hasn’t started for Dano since (scoring 5.6, 4.9, 17.3 on the bench). Meanwhile Breece Hall is the clear front runner in the Jets backfield. Matt Ryan started 3 games for me before getting dropped, and two of those starts were fairly effective: 17.5 in week 3 and 21.4 in week 4. He score 3 point fucking 8 points for me week 3. But if Carter never sees the field again for Dan, then I’m still counting this trade as a win for me.
[3] Another reason I went for the Giants, they’re playing the Jags, who finally look like a real Jags team.
[4] I paid over $200 for Taysom Hill (verses absolutely no one it turns out) only to cut him a week after, but then he goes off again, so Odouls pays over $400 for him, starts him, and he scores 4 points. Taysom Hill is a tough nut to crack.
[5] Dan signing Andy Dalton for free this morning as a free agent was the best move of the last 12 hours. There is, what, a better than even chance Andy Dalton scores more points than Matt Ryan this week?

In the spirit of giving you insane compliments: you would take *so* many enemies with you in your suicidal last stand, and I bet you'd buy a lot of time for your comrades to flee to safety.
thanks! yeah, that's probably true; i had a similar kind of thing in pickup tackle football as a kid where i always wanted to be fullback-y or wideout-y so i could use my body size[1] and pain tolerance to disrupt the defense also i had a couple of "there but for the grace of god go i" moments before i started getting less anxious in this area, when i heard about instances various friends had taken that mindset while incredibly suicidal
unfortunately for a while i was the kind of anxious where i wouldn't even contemplate that, because i'd just think too much about all the possible ways it'd go wrong and start coming together with a 7-layer dip of contingency plans but it's tempting, and a lot of my more rage-y essays in my head come from this sort of impulse in my head, "I'll try taking you down even if it means I destroy myself in the process" and then I realize that there's usually ways to be productive in the area without being destructive (unfortunately it takes a lot of work to actually do :'c)
anyways anon great compliment

NFL Countdown: Getcha Your Popcorn, It's T.O Time
NFL Countdown: Getcha Your Popcorn, It’s T.O Time
We’re officially 81 Days until the Week 1 kickoff, and in today’s post–expect a player who had ALOT on-the-field antics, but when it came down to game time, he was your guy. Although he played for the Dallas Cowboys at the tail-end of his career, his impact was massive as he helped Cowboys QB Tony Romo grow into his own, and he was arguably one of the most-talented wideouts that ever donned the…

Wild Card Weekend
Each game this weekend outside of the Cowboys/Buccaners game went over the spread. You would think because we witnessed a lot of scoring that the point totals would trickle down to wideouts having monstrous days…and that was far from the case. We had 8 players go over 100 yards receiving for the day. Half were tight-ends and for now I haven’t talked about them on this blog even though next season I’m thinking about including them…I mean they do catch the ball too.
In High School one of my favorite quotes was, “Big time players, make big time plays, in big time games.” DK Metcalf is a big time player. As the game was about to get out of hand, DK ran a go-route up the left sideline using a speed release to catch his first touchdown of the day for 50 yards. This cut the lead to 10-7. Despite losing 41-23 Metcalf had a great afternoon. He caught 10 passes for 136 yards and 2 TD’s. His second touchdown was during garbage time but it still counts because he can use this performance to build on during off season. It’s unusual for me to see a 49ers defense cautious when tackling wideouts but Metcalf sure had Lenoir and Ward making business decisions when trying to tackle the beastie wideout.
Deebo last name Samuel looked so damn fast on his only touchdown of the day. Samuel plays a physical brand of football from the wideout position. His first touch was a toss where he plowed his way for a 15-yard gain. Deebo is the perfect proprietary blend of toughness, explosion, quickness and bedazzlement. His touchdown of 72 yards in which 66 of them were YAC (yards after catch). Mr Samuel got a great block from tight-end George Kittle, weaved slightly inside to set up the defender and turned the jets on smoking defenders on his way for 6 points. I like winners and not saying DK isn’t one but his team lost so Deebo Samuel is this weeks wideout of the week.
Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis finished Sunday’s game with damn near identical statistics. The “I’m Him” wideout caught 7 balls for 114 yards with zero touchdowns. Davis caught 6 passes for 113 yards and 1 touchdown. It was crazy to me that Miami got back in the game right before halftime after trailing 17-0. It’s almost safe to say that had Tua or Bridgewater played Miami may have won this game. I love the way these two competed against the up in your face defense by the Miami secondary. I expect another solid performance by the duo this coming weekend against a Cincinnati Bengals team who played in last season’s Super Bowl despite losing to the Rams.
Our last wideout to go over 100 yards on Sunday was Isaiah Hodgins of the New York Giants. This is my first time hearing his name but after watching highlights I liked what I saw on his tape. Hodgins ran a beautiful bang post for a 12 yard touchdown. He caught 8 passes for 105 yards and 1 touchdown. In a perfect world, I hope Hodgins duplicates this performance by going out with the game of his life against the Philadelphia Eagles so the Dallas Cowboys could beat the Giants the following week and return to their first Super Bowl in 28 years.
Wideouts Let’s Go, play fast, have fun and at the end of the day just catch it!

Not Who But What the Buffalo Bills Should Draft
The Buffalo Bills should draft the best player available.  Also, the best player available is a receiver.  This astounding coincidence that limits the choice to one position makes selecting easier.  The certainty is as comforting as the reason for the constraint is vexatious.  Their Michelin-starred chef shouldn’t be limited to Top Ramen.
Noting how few they’ve added in the Beane era is almost as deflating as noting how late they were selected.  It’s not to bash the players selected as much as it is to note a team with a generational quarterback should add them way earlier.
Search for Justin Shorter’s NFL stats and be advised to try adjusting the filters.  Khalil Shakir has been pleasantly productive for the 148th pick, which is an endorsement of him as much as it is a condemnation of Brandon Beane’s unwillingness to add someone at the same position earlier whose success would surprise less.
Beane’s other selections seem like a dare to irk his meal ticket.  Marquez Stevenson is being coached by Wade Phillips in whatever USFL/XFL hybrid draws desperate fans this spring.  Gave Davis might be catching passes from Mac Jones, while Isaiah Hodgins wonders if Tommy DeVito will ever be offered cash to appear at a pizzeria again.
Not drafting a first-round receiver is a criminal offense that should result in arrest if it continues one more time.  Beane can avoid bounty hunters by changing his ways.  Of course, one of those first-rounders was used on a passer named Josh Allen.  Selecting Ray-Ray McCloud and Austin Proehl in the same year shows the roots of an underwhelming habit.
A tight end in name only tapes an asterisk on Beane’s drafting tendencies.  Skeptical fans might count the Dalton Kincaid choice as  if he were called a big slot receiver.  Names can distract from roles, as tight ends have left behind the era where they were blockers who were technically eligible to run routes.  Now, Allen needs certain receivers.
Not every player loss is equal.  Stefon Diggs is inscrutable elsewhere.  We no longer waste hours attempting to to ascertain if he’s disgruntled distracts from wondering if he’s diminishing physically or just in this offense.  Houston can fret about that while Buffalo worries about finding his replacement.
That’s enough indirect help.  Receiving what Allen throws is the supreme method for assistance.  The Bills could add a running back who’ll entice opponents to stay in the box, an offensive lineman to create more time to throw, or a a linebacker who’ll keep down opposing scoring.  But none will benefit directly like a field-stretching boundary wideout who’ll reach the end zone as quickly as the best quarterback in our universe can launch it.
They may already have the best available at particular positions.  Drafting by need is often mocked as a short-term solution.  But a seemingly myopic approach may work best for their situation.  You might think it’s naturally better to take a Ferrari over a Subaru if neither had been selected.  But drafting for a Buffalo winter means you’ll get more use out of the ostensibly blander option.
General managers can save Magic 8 Ball queries for asking if they’ll be famous.  Drafters needed to be more psychic in the past.  Now, the era of semipro college-athletes means they’re not seeking starters for three years from now.  Your draft coupon for a target is valid in September.
If the Bills have a ranking of every prospect, it’s a test of self-honesty.  Only those who compiled it know if they’re lying about who they’d take next regardless of position.  Do you think they’d pick, say, a quarterback?  Or would they slide down a few spots on their own depth chart to select someone to field throws from such a player?  They can show me the draftee hierarchy and I promise to keep it secret.
A little fib about the overall ranking is welcome if it leads to making the most obvious decision outside of firing Don Granato.  The best time to do what’s right is years ago, while the second-best is this draft.
The stubborn refusal to do what will please the city’s most important figure might be the sole thing more aggravating than the Sabres wandering in the desert during the playoffs.  Wasting talent spurs historical regret.  The Bills don’t want to end up like the Lions with Barry Sanders with a stubborn refusal to add blocks of granite for him to pirouette past.  They’ve enjoyed more success than a historically woeful franchise, which is in part testament to the quarterback’s excessive prominence.  But the lack of ultimate success is frustratingly binary.
Drafting Josh Allen’s BFF is the most obvious choice.  Those entrusted with the decision must prove they’ll make it.  The front office can certainly find a player of the category who qualifies as a late-round reception.  As with his career, there are only so many chances.

Knee-Jerk Reactions To Raiders' Week 1 Win Vs. Broncos
Well, it wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win. All that matters is that the Las Vegas Raiders are starting off the season 1-0 after gutting out a 17-16 win over the Denver Broncos. As with any win or loss, there’s plenty that caught everyone’s eye. In particular, when it came to the new starting signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo and former Pro Bowl wideout Hunter Renfrow. Here are a few initial…

NFL Star Rashid Rice Faces Felony Charges After High-Speed Crash
Tumblr media
An arrest warrant has been issued by Dallas PD for Rashid Rice. He received eight charges according to police. That's right, Rashid Rice got charged with eight felonies and had to turn himself into the police. I'm going to break it down all for you and do my best to explain what happens from here. So let's talk about it. But first, how about those? Okay, to start things off, here's a quick summary of everything that's happened up until this point. Back on Saturday, March 30th, a Corvette and Lamborghini were seen racing, speeding on a Dallas freeway when they lost control of their vehicles and caused four other cars to crash along with them, which was six vehicles in total. That wrecked and four people were injured, with initial reports saying they were just minor injuries, although two were taken to the hospital for these injuries. Then the drivers of both vehicles, along with those inside both vehicles, the vet and the Lambo, all fled the scene, and it was quickly discovered that Chief's wide receiver, Rashid Rice, was involved. The Corvette was actually his, and he was renting the Lamborghini himself and reportedly driving it, which he confirmed later. And a side note to this is when they fled the scene, the police report said they left behind some marijuana in both vehicles, credit cards, a $165,000 check (God, that's a lot of money), a diamond chain, and the playbook for the Kansas City Chiefs. Not the Playbook. Anyway, after this, Rashid's counsel, and that was lawyer and Senator Roy West. West then spoke to the media last week about it all, officially confirming Rice was indeed driving the Lambo, and he said he reached out to the Dallas PD on Rice's behalf Sunday evening, which would have been the day after the crash, March 31st. And as of last week, they had met with the police department two separate times and mentioned that Rice has fully cooperated with the police department and has responded to every question asked of him by the police and will continue to cooperate with the department all throughout this process. Rice himself confirmed as much via a social media post of his own on April 3rd, saying he met with Dallas PD investigators and takes full responsibility for his part in the matter, noting he will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities, apologizing to everyone impacted in the incident before signing off. His lawyer then continued in that media presser, saying that they are reaching out to all the victims, and Rice is going to do everything he can in his power to bring the lives of those affected back to as normal as possible. Senator Royce West concluded by saying the situation is ongoing. Let it all play out. But did mention we may hear from Rice this week. And well, I'm not sure if it's going to be Rice formally speaking in some capacity or not. We did get an update to the situation on April 10th, around 5:30 p.m. Central, and that is an arrest warrant was issued for Rashid Rice in connection to his involvement in the crash. And this means Rice had 24 hours from the time of the issued warrant to turn himself into the police. Well, when the news broke via this article from WFAA, Rice had not yet turned himself in, and it wasn't clear exactly when he would do so. But Josena Anderson said, 'A source told her around 7:30 p.m. that Rice is currently planning to turn himself over to authorities in connection with active warrants for his arrest by the Dallas PD per Source then said the specifics of that process are still being finalized at this time. But the specifics of the process are, he's got to go turn himself in. And before I get to what's next for Rashid Rice, it's worth taking a look at what this warrant is all about and why it even got issued. The warrant was issued because the 23-year-old wideout now faces eight charges, eight felony charges. I believe all of them are in this ongoing case. And those charges are as follows: six counts of collision involving bodily injury, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and one count of aggravated assault. It's also worth noting that 21-year-old Theodore Knox, who was driving Rashid's Corvette, is facing the same charges as Rice. Knox, from what I understand, is allegedly a cornerback on the current roster of the SMU football team where Rice played in college. Then all the passengers that were in both of these vehicles will not be facing any of these charges. So that leaves just Rice and Knox facing eight charges per the Dallas PD. And the reason for these charges is most likely due to the injuries sustained by the victims. Four people were injured, but two of the crash victims were taken to the hospital, with one of them reportedly sustaining a big laceration to her left eye that required several stitches. Of these charges, you can see they all potentially could include a fine in some form of prison or jail time in various links. And these, of course, do not look great at all. But they are just the initial charges, and the legal process still has to play out. And according to bird law expert, who is actually a lawyer by profession, aggravated assault is reckless causing serious bod injury. And while it's true that initially all injuries were reported to be not serious, the DA must have believed injuries were serious enough to file charges for serious bodily injury, with the definition of that being listed here. Now, in order for the arrest warrant to be issued, you need just one judge to say there's probable cause of serious bodily injury, which is a pretty low bar. But you would need 12 jurors to unanimously agree that there's SBI, which he says is a different ball game entirely. He then goes on to detail more in this thread. But at the end of the day, once all is said and done here, he doesn't believe Rice will miss anything close to the full season. And there's another lawyer that also thinks Rice will spend very little time suspension-wise this season. But before I get to that, the reason why this video is delayed is because I was trying to wait and see if there was actually going to be a report of Rice turning himself in and if there was going to be any more update from that. But it's been almost 24 hours exactly, no news. So I'm just going to have to assume Rice is turning himself in because why the heck would you wait and have the police have to come and get you? He's already been in contact with them multiple times, has a very smart lawyer. He's not going to do anything stupid here. So we're just going to have to assume that he has indeed turned himself in or he will be doing that very soon. So whether he turns himself in very soon or already did, the question is, what's next for Rice and what does this mean? Well, Drew Davenport, a practicing defense attorney for 23 years, weighed in on the subject as well via a thread, a Twitter thread. And I feel like it's so good that it's worth summarizing here. First, he said, 'Don't read too much into the warrant being issued. This is merely standard protocol that gets drummed up by the media. He did find it odd they issued a warrant when Rice has already retained Council. Read the full article
