We have seen Mort is MORE than capable of destroying someone look at poor Rob's face!

Mort looking all adorable up until the point that someone says some rude offhand thing about Willie and Mort just snaps around demonically fast, pupils down to feral points like

Oohh Willie x Mort actually sounds pretty cute!! Like, you got an anxious scared boi, with possibly one of the scariest and most threatening bois. I like it!

Yeah! And like I really like the whole idea that they found each other y'know? I'm not too good with words but I'll explain the best way I can haha

Ok, so! We have Willie who suffers from anxiety and according to him has a family who's been fighting for ten generations, and we have Mort who struggles with the realization that he's this eldritch abomination and constantly has to keep the other Morts under control or else one of them could easily take over and wreak havoc. Add that onto the fact that they're both generally disliked/bullied by the other lemurs and you've got yourself a GOLD MINE of hurt/comfort right there.

Just wanted to remind people that when Willie was sad at the art show the only thing that cheered him up was seeing Mort's art.

Not to mention that Willie definitely applied to be Mort's boyfriend in O Brother, Where Aren't Thou? which sparked this ship in the first place, but I hc that Willie and Mort grew pretty close during Exiled. I mean just look at them!

He holds him so tenderly so he must care about him, which is wild because nobody cares about Mort I’m jussayin.

And the whole "Heyyy, whatcha got there Mort?" like the homie Willie just wanted to spend time with him.

I'd like to also point out that in the first episode of Exiled, Mort was planning on killing Willie along with Koto and just.. didn't? Which made me think like huh what changed Mort's mind gee I wonder.

But yeah sorry for presenting you with all this but like WE SEE THEM, ITS THERE

I honestly never even considered Willie x Mort. That's kinda a cute idea!)

Yeah! :D its really cute and soft when I picture it, and also with a heaping helping of angst.

My fav Willie ships are Willie x Mort, Willie x Dorothy, and Willie x Pancho as homies. I'll break them down for yall! <3

Willie x Mort is interesting in that both of them are bullied/misunderstood by people. Willie likes Mort because he sees beyond the weirdness to see someone who's as lonely as he sometimes feels.

Like my best boo @dondon-deconcon mentioned, Willie would eventually work up the courage to tell Mort how he feels. He desperately wants him to value himself more, to feel the same indignance he feels. Mort rejects him at first (he does feel something for him, but it's convoluted/difficult), and it hurts him, but he doesn't expect anything from him. His anger and resentment towards Julien only worsens however. I THRIVE off the thought of Julien throwing some insult at Mort or something and Willie just gives the tiniest growl that he directs at Julien that he doesn't think he can hear, but Julien just turns around like.

Anyway, when Mort does eventually realize his feelings for Willie and they work things out, their relationship is soft, and Willie is there to comfort him and vice versa.

For Willie x Dorothy, I like to think they've been friends since lemur school, but Willie's always harbored a softness for her that he never opened up about, especially after she starts dating Ted.

He was seen grooming her in s1, and lemurs do that to strengthen bonds between each other. So I like to think they're close, but Dorothy has never thought anything of it. Willie often brings her gifts, like sea glass and other things that he finds fascinating (i initially brought this up in my Willie hc post, its a big deal if he gives you these gifts), and she finds it endearing. Though I can't decide if he would do it in secret for fear of pissing Ted off and Dorothy only later figures out it was him, or he gives them to Dorothy and eventually she realizes that it might mean more to both of them than she first thought.

I need to flesh out this one a bit more, but I think Willie would treat her well, and make her feel loved and appreciated.

Willie x Pancho is a fun homies ship. As far as I hc they've been friends since lemur school, and Pancho often gets him into chaotic situations. Like getting drunk at the mango tango and putting their names on the sacrifice list together, or having the homie vow to eat each other if the need ever arises.

It cracks me up (and its also wildly soft) to think about Pancho just grabbing Willie and Horst's paws, or Willie carries Pancho home bridal style after he collapses on the dancefloor in Panchurian candidate.

Willie: ... you wanna go home, Pancho?

Pancho: ... yeah

Willie: okay *scoops him up*

Julien just has to accept Pancho has two paws. One for him, and one for his homies.

(This last one is hilariously timed like, it looks to me like Pancho is whispering in his ear. I know he isn't but it just looks like it xD

Pancho: I love you, you bumpkin, *firmly kisses his brow* fuck you.

Willie: *confused mouthful of dirt noises*

Pancho: *immediately shoves him*)

Willie just hugging his Emotional Support Mort and someone looks at them funny and Mort just hisses at them and shows off his mouthful of demon teeth. Willie doesn't even bat an eyelash.

It probably took some getting used to, but he knows its Mort beneath all that. The only time Willie gets genuinely scared is when he can tell its not HIS Mort he's dealing with. Like one of the other Morts manages to take over, and more than anything he's scared for his Mort not being able to come back.

Oh my gosh those are all so sweet!!! Also, the idea of Mort originally rejecting Willie freaking hurts my heart. Like, Willie's already anxious as it is, but can you imagine how much it hurt to finally get up the courage to admit how he felt for Mort, only to be rejected? Like, even if Mort was gentle about it and did eventually reciprocate the feelings, that had to feel like a stab to the heart.

Yeah precisely! I'd imagine it might also make him angry to an extent, not at Mort but at Julien, seeing as Julien doesn't exactly treat Mort the greatest to begin with.

And even after Mort and Willie do get together I feel like Mort would have to constantly reassure Willie that he isn’t just second best, the lemur he chose cause he couldn’t get what he wanted. (as my best boo @shelli-gator put it)
