GUYS IF YOU LOVE OR LIKE THE OMORI SHIP SUNFLOWER, I HEAVILY RECOMMENDED CHECKING OUT AND READING FICS WRITTEN BY @SunnyBunflower ON WATTPAD!!!!! THEY'RE REALLY GOOD, THEY'RE LONG, AND THE PLOT'S ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Their book "Silhouette of a Wilted Flower" IS SO GOOD. I won't spoil anything but during a couple chapters Basil and Sunny are somewhere and Sunny is just.. looking at him. Basil repeats "Why's Sunny giving me that look?", "Seriously.. why is Sunny looking at me like that.?", or "Sunny's staring at me.. why like that? I hope I didn't do anything.." over and over during the times they (Basil) makes eye contact. When they aren't talking to someone or when attention is diverted away from Basil, Sunny's always already looking at Basil.

I feel like Sunny, a greasy, unkept teenager looking at the accomplice after 4 YEARS. Would be 1, unsettling, 2, it would just be kinda a gaping look, and 3, he's in his head a lot and there's 2 (headspace Basil and stranger, he just doesn't know it in this point of the story that stranger is Basil) versions of basil he's used to seeing, not real world Basil so I could sense confusion in that look, BUT, because he genuinely hasn't seen sunlight in 1460 days or more, he wouldn't have a grasp on how confusion is supposed to look on a teenager who is in control of their own facial expressions and how to properly react. it's not like he's practicing stuff either so he just would kinda.. look.. at real world Basil. That's why he looks like that lmao. I also feel like Sunny has been sheltered a lot. I can and most likely will make a separate rant on Sunny himself and how I feel like the reality and logistics of his life have affected him internally and physically.

•this au takes place where autumn season is almost coming. Instead of hanging out usually with the friend group, Both Mari and Sunny focused on their recital but whenever sunny practices he doesn't seem to be improving, he gets very upset and frustrated and he's downing himself, it doesn't help his lingering mental health.

•The friend group visits the Sachiko siblings, to support them and just checking in or maybe, have sleepovers and movie nights if not busy.

•Mari plays the piano very well, her tutor doesn't quite have a problem with teaching her anything, she adapts it very fast. Sunny on the other hand still takes tutor sessions, slow learner but atleast hes not quiting (spoiler alert he did..)

•their parents especially their father always compare sunny to Mari..

•Sunny noticed that his parents always gives Mari lots of attention, when she feels frustrated they always try to calm her down. when she feels sad they always try to find a way to cheer her up. They do sometimes do all that to him but not a lot, despite that he just tries to not care at all, although, there's a bit hint of sadness and anger he feels inside but he will never hate his big sister for that, she's literally perfect.

•Sunny always put his feelings aside for other people, he always put others first than himself. He never knows when someone is taking advantage of him, like walking over him like a dirty rug.

•He feels miserable and also worthless, at some point, he wishes to sleep and never woke up, maybe disappear. He doesn't know why it was never good enough? He tries to study to get good grades, tries to be friends with other people. But still it was never enough for them.

•The friend group never notices there's something wrong with Sunny not until He starts to distance himself from the group but some of them tries to talk to him. Sunny would still talk to them but not much. They assume he's tired from his practice or just tired which they understand, for basil tho, he feels like there's more to it than that.

•Basil is most affected by the way Sunny's behaving. He shouldn't think too much about it but it's been months n weeks he's acting like that, he make a attempt for sunny to open up to him but alas nothing, he doesn't want to make it look like he's forcing him, he always let Sunny know that he will be always there and ready to listen to him.

• Kel is the same as the og but he's sad inside, he's close to sunny not the way Basil and sunny are but sunny is his first friend from the neighborhood. He just guess that Sunny's not in the mood or he's just sad, that's why he tries to make him smile maybe a chuckle from him.

•Aubrey doesn't understand why Sunny's like that, he doesn't hangout with them, she knows that it's because of his tutor sessions with the violin. She's a bit upset but she tries to be more understanding than being angry.

•Hero as the big bro of the group, hes sorta like fixer, especially when a little fight happens with aubs and kel, "Maybe he's tired, we shouldn't bother him". He'll cook some food to the group maybe bake some sweets that sunny likes, in effort to make him feel better also for Mari ofc.

•Mari, they thought she knows what's going on with sunny because shes his big sister and she supposed to know what's going on with him. She does have (a bit) toxic positivity and always aims for perfection, she's a good sister tho but she just doesn't look too deeply on what's happening with sunny.

She didn't realize their parents act differently towards him and it's slowly making him break..

"Oh, you just need a bit of rest, lil bro"

"Come on, i know you can do better than that!"

"Hehe mom and dad are excited for our recital even our friends!!"

"I want everything to go perfectly"

Maybe, if she only did none of this would ever happened...

She's like "sweetie, i think you have a crush". He realizes he loved him when he's gone but why did he realizes that when the owner of this feelings are gone?

•Also the sunflower necklace he's wearing sunny gave it to him on his bday, the handmade tulip hairclip he's wearing tho, he's supposed to give it to sunny after the recital but ermm.. idk.. good luck with that..

Whumptober day 9 prompt: Polaroid | "You're a liar."

Character: Basil (OMORI)

You ruined everything.

Basil got out of bed, mechanically preparing to go to school, like running on autopilot with nothing to think of yet so much to do. He went to the bathroom with his head down, looking anywhere but the gigantic mirror that settles at the middle, ignoring whatever he glimpses at the corner of his eyes. He went to the living room, greeting Polly and his grandma with a shaky smile as he fidgeted with his fingers.

“Everything is going to be okay…”

Everyone left because of you.

When Basil went to school, it was nothing more than a blur. Class, activity, class, activity, taking routes he normally wouldn't have taken before, keeping his gaze down to prevent any unnecessary eye contact. He heard a familiar voice calling his name, walk faster, ignore it, pretend he didn't hear it.

“Everything is going to be okay…”

You shouldn't have suggested that violin.

Then the day ended and it's time to go home. Basil went straight to his house without any detours. Putting his stuff away, talking to Polly a bit as she talked to him first, like she always had. He went to the back, where the garden is, picking up the watering can to tend to the plants.

I've always loved to cook, but since I started working from home in 2020, I've really leaned into it as a joyful hobby. I live with three other adults and I'm the only cook, so I have a lot of opportunity to practice and flex what I've learned!

I've never posted my own words much on here, but honestly, I've been missing the LJ days in the current social media hellscape. So fuck it, I'm gonna start sharing what I've made when the urge strikes me. I want to share home cooking tips that I love, too - I still use recipes a lot of the time, but I love to freestyle and make the dishes my own.

Tonight I made one of my favorite quick dinners that's nice and flexible with the ingredients - pesto pasta. I grew up on basil pesto, but truly anything goes!

1/2 cup nuts or seeds - the classic is pine nuts, but those are expensive. My favorites are pistachios and sunflower seeds.

1/3 cup hard sharp cheese, like parmesan or pecorino romano, cut into chunks.

3-4 cups greens and/or herbs - I've used arugula, chard, mustard and carrot greens, blanched kale and collard greens... I don't think you can go wrong. Herb-wise I've only gone with basil or cilantro, but I bet there are a lot of possibilities.

4-6 cloves of garlic - note that I'm of Italian heritage and have already increased this level beyond what you'd find in a lot of recipes lmao.

A few teaspoons of salt, fresh cracked pepper, and a few dashes of lemon juice - vinegar would also work, just needs a bit of acid.

About 1/3 cup of olive oil, more if needed to get the blender going. You can also loosen it up with some water from cooking the pasta if needed.

Throw it all in a blender and go until it's all emulsified! This makes enough for two pounds of pasta. It's a fantastic meal to have leftovers of, we eat it for lunch throughout the week after I've made a big batch.

While I usually make this for pasta, you can also put a dollop on steak, chicken, eggs, steamed or roasted vegetables... universal condiment as far as I'm concerned! It's a great way to use up greens and herbs that are starting to wilt.
