More Martian fanart? Why yes it is!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
This is a scene from Chapter 5 of, you guessed it, There Is Thunder In Our Hearts, Baby by @kaossbells.
This one took me much longer than expected. It’s a combination of pondering which scene to draw and how I want the boys to look and act. I think I pulled it off.
Brace yourselves! I’ve already started drawing Chapter 6! 😉

2. "So do I."
KIM KITSURAGI - "I agree, detective." The lieutenant looks to the sea. "Something is coming -- *trouble*. It will be a hard spring. I don't know what exactly, but..." He shakes his head.
KLAASJE (MISS ORANJE DISCO DANCER) - "Something is happening in this city." She nods -- a puff of smoke. "I can feel it. When I'm out here at night."
SHIVERS - Her thought trails off. The wind picks up again. Above her, a great cumulus cloud rises -- ready to fall down as precipitation. April will come, then May; a month, maybe two from now... you shudder. The feeling dissipates. The thought ends.

Since we have more money than we need at this point, we might as well clear out Siileng as well.
Tumblr media
SIILENG - "You keep coming back. That's good, officer! Keep browsing those clothes, keep saving that economy!"
RHETORIC [Medium: Success] - Save the economy? That sounds off.
"Save the economy? What are you talking about?"
SIILENG - "Haven't you heard, officer? We've got to be economically conscious. Recycle your cash, keep it in circulation! Don't buy new things! Buy eco!"
"This doesn't make any sense. Why exactly does the economy need saving?"
"Thanks for the advice, I'll try to be more economically conscious."
SIILENG - "Look around, officer! You see all these premium goods, just sitting there, *not* getting bought? We've got to keep the flow of goods moving!"
"Is this really the economy we want to leave to our children?"
"You're right. We've got to save Mother Economy!"
"But I don't have children. I think."
"It's just nature: Powerful economies expand, weak economies go extinct."
"This *economy* is really just a distraction from the cultural issues. You know -- *immigrants* and…"
"Look man, I just want to buy some clothes."
SIILENG - "Too bad, officer. Kids make it all worthwhile. Without kids, who's going to be around to enjoy the economy?" He points at the clothes. "Don't let me stop you. Open the box and browse a little!"
3. "I want to buy the windbreaker."
SIILENG - "Gotta prepare for springtime, right?" The street vendor seems pleased.
Tumblr media
DYNAMIC WINDBREAKER "SURF"
+1 Composure: Keep your cool -1 Shivers: Weatherproof
This nylon windcheater is so dynamic; it wraps around you like a membrane. Equipped with a stowable hood, the backside of the garment is covered in sport- and summer-related text. It swishes softly as you walk.
We *could* buy the speakers, but since we already have the boombox, we won't need them.
Tumblr media
SIILENG - "The shine on these sunglasses lasts a lifetime, officer! One hundred percent guaranteed!"
3. "I'll take those ugly glasses."
Item gained: Shades of Self-Destruction
SIILENG - "A good starter pair, officer! And when you're ready to upgrade, come back and see me!"
2. "I'll take those cool deep blue glasses."
SIILENG - "A man who knows his style," the street vendor nods. "Much respect."
2. "I'll take that Amphibian sports visor."
SIILENG - "Sporty *and* practical, officer! Good choice."
We've already seen this one, but we gave it to Acele. Luckily Siileng has plenty in stock.
2. [Leave for now.]
Tumblr media
SHADES OF SELF-DESTRUCTION
+1 Electrochemistry: Wreck it, Jack -1 Logic: Suicidal ideations
These death-tinted shades come with an odd longing for self-destruction. They're ugly -- you don't even need a mirror to know this. Describing them is futile; better get a glass of wine.
Tumblr media
SUGLASSES "SUB-INSULINDIC RENDEZVOUS"
-1 Perception: Sea monster's vision +1 Inland Empire: Sea monster's soul
The truth is, you can't really *see* very well through the darkened specs, but you feel truly *tender* in this newly-found deep sea plane. Two blue-tinted lenses sit in a bone-carved frame like they've always belonged there.
Nothing new from talking to Siileng or Roy, though.
We head out toward the village to begin working on our few remaining objectives.

Joyce is tying her boat to the pier here.
Tumblr media
JOYCE MESSIER - "I'll just keep the Cor-de-Leite in the channel, if that's okay. It's too shallow near the pier..." She winds the mooring line around a post.
LILIENNE, THE NET PICKER - "Aye, ma'am... And it's a jetty, by the way."
"Of course. Jetty. I prefer a good jetty to a pier any day. Jet-jet-jetty..."
DRAMA [Medium: Success] - Something about the way she says it makes you want to sing.
"J-j-j-jettady-jetty."
"Hello, ma'am."
[Leave.]
JOYCE MESSIER - "Oh jetty, oh jetty...." she responds mournfully...
…then secures the mooring line. "It's good to see you here, detectives. I only just arrived myself."
KIM KITSURAGI - "What brings you here, madam?"
JOYCE MESSIER - "Nothing, really... I've had my eye on this jetty for weeks now. So I decided to investigate it personally. This cluster of buildings isn't on any of the official maps, as far as I can tell."
LOGIC [Medium: Success] - That -- and she's also keeping an eye on *you*.
"Have you been spying on us?"
"So how do you like it here?" (Look around.)
JOYCE MESSIER - "'Spying' has such a negative connotation. I did track your progress along the coast, however, and decided I would be better able to assist you from here..."
"Then there's the matter of that little scamp in old-lady clothes. She threatened to paint the Cor-de-Leite red. Like blood, you see. Well, I like it the way it is -- white."
AUTHORITY [Easy: Success] - What is this? Destruction of property? Hooliganism? Elder abuse?
"Sounds like Cindy the SKULL alright. Want me to book her?"
"That's just Cindy being Cindy. You can ignore her."
Leave it be.
JOYCE MESSIER - "It's just as well -- Lilienne and I are getting on much better. For one, she appreciates the concept of *rent*."
"So how do you like it here?" (Look around.)
JOYCE MESSIER - "Hmh... How *do* I like it?" She casts her gaze toward the village -- slush melting on the cinder blocks, construction work left half-finished ten years ago...
PERCEPTION (HEARING) [Easy: Success] - Water drips down eaves of eternite. The jetty below her feet creaks to the tune.
PERCEPTION (SMELL) [Medium: Success] - The smell of salt and dog shit in the background.
JOYCE MESSIER - "It's pornographically poor. The street has no name, all the men are dead or missing... and is that the carcass of a motor carriage over there?" She squints her eyes...
KIM KITSURAGI - "Fortunately for you, madam, the RCM is on the scene."
RHETORIC [Medium: Success] - All right. Politics time. Let's *react*.
AUTHORITY [Easy: Success] - Real men, real politics, real thoughts in your head!

Everything You Need to Know About Windcheater for Men
Windcheaters, commonly known as windbreakers, are essential outerwear designed to protect against wind and light rain. They are lightweight, versatile, and a staple in men's wardrobes, especially for those who enjoy outdoor activities. Here's a comprehensive guide to understanding windcheater for men.
1. Purpose and Functionality
Windcheaters are primarily designed to shield the wearer from wind and drizzle, making them ideal for transitional weather. They are made from synthetic materials like nylon or polyester, which are resistant to wind and water. The materials are usually tightly woven, ensuring minimal air permeability. Some windcheaters also come with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating for added water resistance.
2. Design and Features
Windcheaters typically feature a front zipper, adjustable hoods, and elastic cuffs and hems to seal out the wind. Pockets are often zippered to keep belongings secure. Many modern windcheaters incorporate breathable panels or vents to prevent overheating, a common issue during physical activities.
3. Types and Styles
Windcheaters come in various styles to suit different preferences and activities:
Classic Windcheater: Simple design, perfect for everyday use.
Hooded Windcheater: Provides additional protection against the elements.
Packable Windcheater: Lightweight and folds into its own pocket for easy storage, ideal for travel.
Sport Windcheater: Features like reflective strips and extra ventilation cater to athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
4. Choosing the Right Windcheater for men
When selecting a windcheater, consider the following factors:
Fit: Ensure it allows freedom of movement without being too loose.
Material: Look for high-quality, durable materials. A blend of polyester and nylon is common for durability and wind resistance.
Features: Depending on your needs, consider features like hoods, ventilation, and packability.
Purpose: For casual wear, a classic style may suffice. For sports or hiking, opt for specialized designs with added functionality.
5. Maintenance and Care
Proper care can extend the life of your windcheater. Most can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners as they can damage the water-resistant coating. Hang drying is preferable to maintain the integrity of the fabric and shape.
6. Styling Tips
windcheater for men is versatile and can be styled in various ways:
Casual Look: Pair with jeans or chinos and a T-shirt for a relaxed outfit.
Sporty Look: Combine with athletic wear like joggers and sneakers for a ready-to-go ensemble.
Layered Look: Layer over a hoodie or sweatshirt in cooler weather for added warmth and style.
In conclusion, windcheaters are a practical and stylish addition to any man's wardrobe. They offer protection against the elements while providing comfort and versatility. Whether for casual wear, travel, or outdoor activities, there's a windcheater to meet every need.

Three Jackets to Have This Winter Season
As soon as the winter season approaches, everyone starts visiting clothing stores online and offline to look for jackets that can keep them warm as well as stylish. With the numerous options available in the market these days, it sure gets confusing to look for a jacket that meets all your requirements. The choice of winter jacket depends on factors like climate, intended activities, and personal preferences. Different types of winter jackets are designed to provide specific levels of warmth, protection, and style.
Three types of winter jackets that are multi-purpose and you should definitely include in your wardrobe are –
Down Jackets
Down jackets are insulated jackets that have quilted stitches, that make them look like a bunch of puffs or pockets sewed together. These puffs are filled with either duck or geese feathers, or other synthetic materials to provide insulation from the cold weather.
These jackets are great for moderate to extreme winter conditions and keeps you warm even in sub-zero temperatures. The best part about these jackets is that they are lightweight and compact which makes them a great option for travelling purposes.
Fleece Jacket
Fleece jackets are warm and breathable jackets that are made of fleece which is a type of synthetic wool. These jackets can be used under heavy jackets to provide a warm inner layer during extreme winters or can be worn as an outer layer in normal to mild winters.
The specialty of fleece jackets is that they are lightweight, warm, and super soft. They are perfect to keep you cozy and comfortable at night.
Windcheater Jacket
A windcheater jacket, also known as a windbreaker is made of synthetic materials that are wind-resistant or water-resistant. They are often made of breathable materials to keep the body temperature moderate. They keep you warm and comfortable acting as a barrier and blocking the cold breeze and winds however are not suitable for extreme cold conditions.
They can be used as the outermost layer and can be worn on top of other warm layers or sweaters. They are also suitable for protection against light rains.
The above three jackets are versatile and can withstand almost all kinds of cold temperatures from mild to extreme. Additionally, you can check out the winter jacket collection by Wildcraft. They have some of the coolest jackets that are designed using special fabrics and technologies to keep you extra warm and comfortable.

I'm not really a fan of school uniforms, especially elaborate non-public school uniforms due mostly to the price, BUT. my first school's (catholic school) uniform was sooo good.
The summer dress wasn't just a box, it was gathered at the back and the pattern was blue gingham with small red lines. Highly flattering and it had two zipper pockets, excellent for collecting interesting stones (most public school primary school dresses are box dresses with white+ 1 colour gingham, and you can buy them from any department store, it's a lot cheaper than a specific school dress).
And for winter??? A blue long sleeve shirt, black pinafore, and black leggings/tights + blue windcheater.
Everytime I wore it I felt sooo flash and then when I changed schools to a public school I was SO sad that I'd lost the pockets, and the interesting gingham and the pinafore. part of this was sadness was that I had moved to the city and it was loud and confusing, and definitely part of that was because I was mercilessly bullied, but seriously. The loss of my pinafore hurts to this day.

Top Things to Pack for Your Chopta Adventure – A Traveler’s Checklist
Chopta, often known as the “Mini Switzerland of India,” is a beautiful destination in Uttarakhand, known for its scenic trekking trails, dense forests, and serene meadows. If you’re planning a trip to Chopta, packing wisely is essential due to its varying weather conditions and rugged terrain. Whether you’re trekking to Tungnath, camping by Deoria Tal, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings, having the right gear can make a big difference. Here’s a comprehensive packing checklist to ensure you have a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable adventure in Chopta Tour.
Tumblr media
1. Clothing Essentials
The weather in Chopta can be unpredictable, with chilly mornings and evenings, even in summer. Packing the right clothes is crucial to keep you comfortable during your trip.
Layered Clothing
Thermal Wear: Essential, especially if you’re visiting during winter (October to February). Thermals provide an insulating layer without adding bulk.
T-shirts (Full and Half-Sleeved): Opt for quick-dry, moisture-wicking fabrics. Layering is key in the mountains, so bring a mix of full and half-sleeved T-shirts.
Fleece Jacket/Sweater: A lightweight fleece jacket or sweater helps you stay warm without being too heavy.
Down Jacket: If you’re visiting in winter, a down jacket will protect you from the biting cold, especially during early morning treks and nighttime camping.
Waterproof Windcheater/Jacket: A waterproof jacket is essential, as sudden rain showers are common in the hills. Look for one with a hood to protect yourself from rain and wind.
Bottoms
Trekking Pants: Comfortable, stretchable trekking pants are a must. They are more practical than jeans for treks and nature walks.
Warm Pants: For the evenings and nighttime, especially if you’re camping.
Thermal Leggings: Perfect for wearing under your trekking pants or during the night when temperatures drop.
Head and Hand Gear
Woolen Cap/Beanie: To keep your head warm in the cold.
Sun Hat/Cap: For daytime treks to protect yourself from the sun.
Gloves: Woolen gloves for winter and lightweight gloves for autumn and spring treks.
2. Footwear
Your choice of footwear can make or break your Chopta adventure, as you’ll likely be trekking and exploring uneven terrains.
Trekking Shoes: Sturdy, waterproof trekking shoes with good grip are essential for navigating rocky and sometimes slippery trails.
Comfortable Sandals/Flip-Flops: For use around the campsite or guesthouse after a long day of trekking.
Woolen Socks: Keep your feet warm during cold nights. Carry extra pairs in case they get wet.
Quick-Dry Socks: Essential for treks to prevent blisters and maintain foot hygiene.
3. Backpack and Daypack
Rucksack/Backpack (40-60 liters): A spacious, lightweight backpack with multiple compartments is ideal for carrying your essentials. Make sure it has padded straps and a hip belt for better support.
Daypack (15-20 liters): Useful for short treks, carrying water bottles, snacks, a camera, and other essentials.
4. Camping Gear (If Not Provided by Your Package)
If your travel package doesn’t include camping gear, consider bringing the following items:
Sleeping Bag: A compact, lightweight sleeping bag rated for cold weather is essential if you plan to camp in Chopta’s meadows.
Sleeping Mat: For added comfort and insulation from the cold ground.
Tent: If you’re trekking with a group and plan on setting up camp, carry a lightweight, easy-to-pitch tent.
Tumblr media
5. Trekking Essentials
Trekking Poles: These provide stability and reduce the strain on your knees, especially during steep descents.
Headlamp/Flashlight: A must for camping and trekking in low light conditions. Opt for a headlamp to keep your hands free.
Reusable Water Bottle: Hydration is key when trekking at high altitudes. Consider a lightweight, reusable water bottle or hydration bladder.
Energy Snacks: Pack lightweight, high-energy snacks like nuts, dried fruits, energy bars, and chocolates for a quick boost during your trek.
Sunglasses: Essential for protecting your eyes from harsh sunlight, especially at higher altitudes.
Sunscreen: Choose a high SPF sunscreen to protect your skin from UV rays, as the sun can be quite strong at altitude.
Lip Balm: To prevent chapped lips caused by the cold and wind.
Multi-Tool/Swiss Knife: Handy for small tasks around the campsite.
6. Toiletries and Personal Care
Toilet Paper: Essential, as it might not be readily available in remote areas.
Hand Sanitizer: For maintaining hygiene when soap and water are not available.
Wet Wipes: Useful for freshening up when showers aren’t an option.
Biodegradable Soap/Shampoo: Choose eco-friendly products to minimize environmental impact.
Toothbrush and Toothpaste: In travel-friendly sizes.
7. Health and Safety Essentials
First Aid Kit: Include band-aids, antiseptic wipes, cotton, gauze, adhesive tape, pain relievers, anti-inflammatory tablets, and any personal medication.
Personal Medications: Carry enough of your prescription medications, and bring extras in case of delays.
Anti-Nausea Medicine: Helpful for those prone to motion sickness during the drive to Chopta.
Insect Repellent: To keep bugs and mosquitoes at bay, especially during forest treks.
Electrolyte Packets: For hydration and to combat fatigue during long treks.
Altitude Sickness Medication: Although Chopta is at a relatively lower altitude compared to some Himalayan treks, it's wise to be prepared if you plan to ascend further.
Tumblr media
8. Tech and Gadgets
Camera: To capture the stunning landscapes of Chopta. Don’t forget extra batteries and memory cards.
Power Bank: Essential for keeping your phone and other electronic devices charged, especially in remote areas where power supply may be unreliable.
Travel Adapters: If you’re bringing electronic devices, ensure you have the right adapters for charging.
9. Travel Documents and Money
Identification: Carry valid ID proof, like an Aadhar card or passport, as you may need to show it at various checkpoints or while checking in to accommodations.
Travel Permits: If visiting protected areas around Chopta, check if you need any permits.
Cash: ATMs are scarce in remote areas, so carry enough cash for small expenses like snacks, local guide fees, or souvenirs.
10. Miscellaneous Items
Plastic Bags: To separate wet or dirty clothes from the rest of your luggage.
Notebook and Pen: For journaling your adventure or noting down important information.
Lightweight Towel: Quick-dry towels are ideal for travel.
Small Sewing Kit: For emergency repairs to clothing or gear.
Packing Tips
Pack Light: Only bring what you need. Chopta's terrain is rugged, and carrying unnecessary items will only slow you down.
Use Waterproof Bags: Pack your clothes and electronics in waterproof bags or zip-lock pouches to protect them from rain or snow.
Roll Clothes: Rolling clothes instead of folding them can save space and prevent wrinkles.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
Packing thoughtfully for your Chopta adventure is crucial to ensure a comfortable and hassle-free experience. By covering all the essentials—from clothing suited for the mountain climate to trekking gear and personal care items—you’ll be well-prepared to enjoy everything this Himalayan gem has to offer. With the right gear in your backpack, you can focus on exploring Chopta’s stunning landscapes, majestic peaks, and tranquil meadows to the fullest!
