As I understand it, windsurfing is when the board stays on the surface of the water; its offshoot, windfoiling - as seen here - is when the board goes airborne, anchored only by a hydrofoil fin that protrudes from the bottom of the board.

On Tuesday we were in Petoskey and took a walk on the pier that juts out into Little Traverse Bay. A cool, robust wind kept most people off the pier, but the weather was custom-made for taking a flier in the bay.

Windsurfing, the Internet tells me, emerged in the 1960s from California's aerospace and surf culture. It became an Olympic sport in 1984.

１１時過ぎに到着。南南西なので入りだすと強いが、風が届かないとそこまで強くない。

5.2フィンにするか、4.4フォイルにするかかなり迷った挙げ句後者。でもすぐに強くなり追加でフィンを出してフリスタ。

何とかフラカメイクするがすぐに走らなくなりFOILにチェンジ。でもFOILでも走らなくなるくらい落ちる。

ちょっと頂いたお菓子で食べながら休憩。14時位からまた入り始めFOILで出るが結構強い。沖は波もありジャイブが難しい。本栖湖がいかに乗りやすいか感じる。

もう腰も痛いのでそのまま乗るが、後半はフィンの方が正解でした。

Le foil est une aile positionnée sous un support une coque de bateau ou planche, qui vise à réduire les frottements avec l’eau pour agir sur la vitesse et la stabilité du support grâce à la force de portance. Pour le sport on utilise les termes de Kitefoil, Windfoil, Wingfoil, SUPfoil, Surf-foil et Wakefoil. Une nouveauté pour vous certainement cependant il fut inventé en 1868

L’historique du foil, depuis plus d’un siècle les ingénieurs et architectes navals ont voulu trouver une nouvelle technologie qui permette à un bateau d’augmenter sa vitesse en surélevant la coque au dessus de l’eau. En 1869, Emmanuel Farcot dépose un brevet d’un bateau hérissé de nombreux petits foils le long de la coque afin de diminuer la trainée. A partir de 1894, l’américain William E. Meacham pousse plus loin le concept des foils. Il invente le bateau de 14 pieds détenant le plus vieux record dans ce domaine. En 1960, Thomas Moy adapte trois plans sur un bateau qu’il fera naviguer sur « Grand Surrey Canal », au sud de Londres. En 1976, Eric Tabarly élabore un prototype qui est la genèse du trimaran, après les années 2000, le concept du foil a été créé grâce à l’invention de matériaux plus résistants comme le carbone. De nos jours la notion de foil est très peu connue, mais c’est un concept impressionnant et très  convoité par le monde de la navigation. Une nouvelle génération de bateau a été construit comme « l’hydroptère ». Dernièrement, les foils se sont modernisés dans le but de gagner de plus en plus de vitesse

Impressionen - Impressions

Jeden Tag bei Wind und Wetter raus zu gehen, kostet einen manchmal Überwindung. Heute war allerdings ein ganz besonders schöner Tag, den viele so richtig genossen haben. Ob beim Spaziergang um den See, Radlfahren, oder joggen, es waren auch einige auf dem Wasser in kleinen und auch sehr großen Booten unterwegs. Die Sonne war nochmal richtig warm. Ein paar sind mit dem Windfoil aufs Wasser gegangen, andere waren mit dem SUP unterwegs und wieder andere, so wie wir, sind sogar ins Wasser gegangen. Bei 13,5° C kann man das zwar nicht mehr baden nennen, aber es erfrischt ungemein, regt die Durchblutung und somit auch die Entgiftung an. Nachmachen empfohlen!

Going out every day in all weathers sometimes takes a lot of effort. However, today was a particularly beautiful day that many people enjoyed. Whether walking around the lake, cycling or jogging, there were also some people out on the water in small and very large boats. The sun was really warm again. Some took to the water on a windfoil, others went SUPing and others, like us, even went into the water. At 56,3° F degrees you can no longer call it swimming, but it is incredibly refreshing, stimulates blood circulation and therefore also detoxification. We can really recommend it!

Activity August

Today i tried to windfoil for the first time, it was a very interesting and challenging no idea on the contrary to windsurfing, i always wanted to try it but never got the chance really. it was a great but hard experience during the start, because it is a different sport than windsurfing.

お昼過ぎに到着。まあまあ吹いていて4.7が6.2で迷うが安定の6.2。��中は4.7コンディションでしたが、最後6.2といった感じで、結局は4.7が正解だった気がする。

今日はMosyさんにJPのR-winger80Lを借りる。今までのボードに比べると幅がかなり細いのが心配だったけど何とか乗れる。それよりMosyさんとのポジションの違いに戸惑う。後ろストラップに入れない状態だとかなり後ろ足荷重しないと浮かない。自分が乗っていたウィンドFOILより後ろ足荷重だ。体重の違いなのか。

絶賛練習中のウキウキタックは1回だけ成功。スタボー側のハイネケンジャイブは進歩無し。

本栖湖程ではないが菊名も乗りやすい。

'25.6.20 本栖湖　南

夜もパーカー着てちょうど良い気温でキャンプ快適。

朝ごはん食べてると既に木がザワザワ。

１０時過ぎにファン到着すると弱いながら南で吹いてる。

ブローで飛びそうな風が入り始めたので１２時6.2で出る。たまに飛ぶがほとんど風待ち。３０分もすると徐々に強くなり、失敗しなければ飛びっぱなし。

スタボー側のハイネケンジャイブは毎回同じ感じで失敗。

今日やっとハーネスの流さがハマって結構楽になった。

１４時過ぎからきつくなり4.7にチェンジ。3.2にすれば良かったと思う時間もあったけど、ガスティーなので4.7で良かった。

昨日からタック練習し始めてハーネスに首吊っちゃったり、リューシュが腕に絡まったりでしたが、他にもタックしてる人のウィング返しを見ながら練習してたら２回ウキウキタックメイクでテンション上がりました。

１６時頃流石に疲れて終了。今回は良く吹いてアタリ本栖でした。

'25.6.11 津久井浜　南西

一日吹く予報。9時頃到着すると結構吹いているが弱い時もあり3.2か4.7で迷うが3.2。今日はフロントウィングを初めて800cm2にしてみる。やっぱりポジションが合わずマストを2cm下げて今までの感じに。

3.2位吹くとやっぱり難しくジャイブの成功率も下がる。途中弱くなったので4.7��チェンジ。最近動画見てやろうと思っていたハイネケンジャイブ？やったら一発成功。でも吹いて来て3.2にしたら出来ない。最後また4.7で乗り納めて800cm2でも問題なかったので、6.2以外はこれで乗ろう。

午後からだろうとゆっくりしていたけど、風情報見ると吹いてそう。慌てて出発しお昼頃到着。すでに吹いていて6,2で出る。

一発目からウキウキジャイブ成功し幸先良し。

今日からハーネス付けたけど、ウィンドのものをそのままだと短くて窮屈。とりあえずリューシが絡んだ時にハーネスかけてるとほどけるので便利。

今日は走りながらスイッチしたら直ぐに出来て、そのままジャイブすると楽ちん。

足の入れ替えも大分コツが掴めて来てウキウキジャイブも半分位は成功して楽しい。
