Trolls HTTYD AU
I don't really post anything but I had an awesome idea and I'm obsessed with it.
So it's set in the HTTYD universe BUT Peppy decides to lead around a third of Berk's population on a journey to find an island with no dragons. This happens a few years before Hiccups birth and most Vikings thought them cowards so they are forgotten by the people of Berk. Peppy is a fearsome and strong Viking but wants a peaceful place to raise Poppy and Viva, the events of the journey mirror the trollstice escape to a certain degree.
Branch
A Whispering Death named Thorns
Branch is the first in the village to befriend a dragon despite fearing them the most
He helps Branch dig out his bunker
Thorns is kept secret until Poppy and her dragon need to be rescued
Thorns likes to coil around Branch to sleep
Branch is used to diving out of the way of Thorns randomly barreling through the tunnels in the bunker
Poppy
A Scuttleclaw she names Flutterclaw
Goes off to befriend a dragon immediately after hearing about the Dragon riders on Berk and stumbles across her
Flutterclaw is just as upbeat as Poppy, she's almost never tired
She's named Flutterclaw because we know Poppy isn't the best at naming things on the spot (Tiny Diamond)
They invent dragon-back acrobatics for fun
John Dory
A Snafflefang, it's Rhonda :)
When JD abandoned his brothers he sailed to Neverglaide Mountain and met her by accident
Rhonda had never met a Viking before and just treated the poor guy like a scared hatchling
JD is freaking out but eventually they come to an understanding
They've wandered together ever since
The first character to befriend a dragon
SpBruce
A Scauldron! (Not sure of the name yet)
When he left Bruce went to a neighbouring tribe and established an inn for travelers after meeting Brandy
It was very successful until the Scauldron decided to stake claim
The two had an ongoing rivalry so I famous that everyone on the island was privy to it
When a traveler from Berk came to spread word about dragon riding, Bruce thought he'd give it a shot
It took a while to earn the dragon's trust but it worked eventually
The duo protect the island from wild dragons and Bruce's kids
Clay
A Raincutter named Thundertone
When a storm rips through Peppy's fleet, two of the six ships get seperated from the others
These boats hold Viva and Clay, who work together to lead their people on as Peppy would have wanted
They find an island with minimal dragons but their new Chieftess is very fearful of being attacked, so the Vikings of Gulf Island stay hidden
After the brothers reunite, Clay is out brooding in a rainstorm and he meets a Raincutter with an oddly deep roar
He likes how serious the dragon sounds and they bond whole playing in the rain and digging up food for Thundertone
Floyd
A Windgnasher he names Snaowguard
On the night Brozone (the most formidable dragon slaying family on Berk) broke up, Floyd said goodbye to branch but rushed to a boat the moment he was out of sight
He chased after his brothers' boats, seeing JD's not too far off
In his haste, Floyd accidentally skirted into Outcast waters and was captured
They kept him for his dragon killing knowledge thanks to outcasts Velvet and Veneer
Floyd had grown compassionate towards dragons, he never really liked killing them
After 20ish years his brothers rescued him
The previous week Floyd had spent neighbouring with a Windgnasher who he looked out for and bonded with
Floyd made sure she was saved too and Snaowguard repaid his kindness by protecting him and the two became a pair
Viva
A Deadly Nadder named Brightspark
Her fear of dragons rivalled Branch's, especially after the attacks she had to protect her people from after being seperated from her father and baby sister
This means that she is one of the last Vikings to open up to befriending a dragon
Clay, Thundertone, Flutterclaw and Poppy all help her overcome her fear and it comes in handy when she rescues a Deadly Nadder from a dragon trap (possibly her own?)
They're both scarred by their experiences but find an odd sense of comfort in eachother
Peppy
A Terrible Terror he names Matchsticks
After Poppy brings the idea of dragon riding back to Poptrell Island, Peppy of course wants one
Poppy shows him a bunch of fearsome and tough dragons
But Chief Peppy distracted by the Terrible Terror fighting off a Nadder from his pile of fish
He becomes absolutely enamored with the brave little guy and adopts him immediately
Peppy spoils Matchstick so much that even Poppy has to tell him to chill out a little
I have so much lore written for this AU you don't even know

httyd dragons for the guys?
Fun fact: I have never seen any of the movies, so I don't actually know how the story goes or how the training is done, but I did find a nice comprehensive article on the many dragon types, written up in March 2019, and I used that to pick some dragons (plural because there are so many to choose from) for the boys!
Risotto: My primary pick is the Sentinel because being able to blend into your surroundings and guarding a dragon graveyard really struck me as something that this dragon and Risotto could have in common - imagine Risotto having to bury his cousin and his dragon very solemnly guarding the grave for a long time before they both had to go into hiding. The other pick is the Armorwing because it can stick metal to itself and I think there is some bonding potential there.
Formaggio: I feel like he definitely would get a kick out of a Hobgobbler, and introduce it into other people's spaces to teach them a lesson about little guys being absolute menaces. Bonus points if he can also manhandle the tiny beast without consequences, luring others into trying their luck. The other pick is Night Fury because of the catlike behavior and attacking unseen in the night, the idea of him having a cat of a dragon just tickles me.
Prosciutto: I had a lot of choices, but I ultimately went with Deathsong as the first pick because it sounds pretty unique as well as gorgeous. This is one beast others might underestimate based on looks until it secretes something beautiful but deadly. Terrifying. My second pick is Bewilderbeast because imagine if Prosciutto ended up coaching one of these massive dragons on how to properly earn respect and leadership among other dragons...
Pesci: Had even more picks for Pesci, and settled for a Thornridge because I could see him fishing nearby and developing a bond with one by feeding it some of his catches. He doesn't even need to, he just starts coaxing one with fish and they become friends. My other pick would be a Scauldron because it sounds very funky looking but really insane when on the attack. Maybe Pesci saved one from dehydration and that's how they started getting along!
Ghiaccio: As soon as I read about the Windgnasher I knew it was a winner! Ghiaccio is definitely using one to track his targets and the ice blast is both iconic and probably what they use to immobilize anyone foolish enough to try running away. The other pick is the Snow Wraith because of how hardy it is and how well it does in colder climates. Ghiaccio is all bundled in furs and riding these dragons exclusively, and there's nothing his enemies can do about it.
Melone: Had to go with a Seashocker because it sounded pretty unique with its shape and habitat, some bioluminescence, two heads for no very apparent reason, as well as an electric attack? There would be so much for Melone to study on this one, and I feel like he would enjoy having a creature that "gives" in this way. The other pick is the Skrill so we can ramp up the electr(on)ic blast - maybe Melone will invent something with it if he puts his mind to it!
Illuso: Giving him a Light Fury because as soon as I read reflective scales, I was sold. Uniquely beautiful and posing really solid danger to those around it, so Illuso's bragging rights are through the roof. He probably plans quite a bit to make the most out of the reflective ability and trick others into being easy fights. The other pick is a Snafflefang because Illuso would be hoarding the nicer geodes and trading them to help him and his dragon stay afloat.
Sorbet: This was tough, but I decided on a Hobblegrunt because the idea that it can change color depending on mood would be perfect, can you imagine the amount of shade these two could throw around, Sorbet using his dry sarcasm and his dragon changing colors, sometimes subtly, to let you know it thinks you're trash? My other pick is the Timberjack because Sorbet could have a little grove and forest "garden" for it to enjoy and protect from others.
Gelato: Another tough choice between so many playful little guys, but the Dramillion won. The visuals alone are funny, but the fact that it's parrot-like and can mimic different attacks? Gelato would be a fucking menace with one of these and he would never get tired of trying new things with it. I would also (not) trust him with a Gronckle because of the insane maneuvering and the exploding eggs. You do not want to underestimate this combo when it comes to Gelato.

Okay here we go mobile game lets go!!
So the game I'm going to explain the pvp system is called Rise of Berk and it's like 8 some year old mobile game for the httyd franchise and I fucking love it so much.
There is much to talk about but what I'm going to focus on is the 'pvp' system.
So it's called 'brawl mode' and it's sorta pvp? at least that's what it's advertised as. There's a secondary mode called 'gauntlets' which are appear once or twice a month and are limited time (usually 3-7 days). Brawls are always avabile.
There's about 50 dragons you can use in brawl, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Some are pretty cool some suck some are really fucking overpowered.
There's four classes and four rankings. The classes are Swift. Cunning, Protector, and Furious. The 'rankings' are basically how rare their tokens are (tokens are how you level them up), Rookies are the easiest to get (and the weakest), Elite are decent, and the dragons you'll most commonly use, Heroic are either really good or really bad, and are mostly restricted to Uniqe dragons, and Champion dragons are the most powerful and also some of the hardest to get, because you can only get them in token packs.
Most people use teams containing mixes of the dragons, especially in gauntlets. Brawls are only one round while gauntlets can be up to 7 in certain events.
Swift dragons are decent, they are really powerful against Furious dragons and are weak against Cunning dragons. Their second move is almost always a two bar move that reduces attack power of the target. The champion for this class is Champion Steeltrap, who you can find tokens for upon reaching arena 6. Idk I don't really use them, but if you have a Swift and you're going up against an Exotic Whispering Death, you better run.
Cunning dragons are okay. I really like them, but most aren't the most powerful. Their second move is usually Shatter, which makes the target take more damage. The Champion is the Champion Triple Stryke (obtainable after reaching arean 5), which I haven't gotten yet but I love already because I love triple strykes <3. The Cunning class also contains the Exotic Whispering Death, which is like the single most powerful Elite dragon ever and does 500 damage to most dragons with it's most powerful attack at level 9. They have a strength against Swift dragons and have a weakness against Protector Dragons.
The Protector dragons do less damage, but are tanks. Their second move is mostly a three point move that heals a dragon on their team. They're mostly useful in gauntlets, but they're fun. I'll give extra points for Ruffrunner being in this class <3. The Champion is the Champion windgnasher (avable once you reach arena 4) which deals damage to all dragons and knocks all opposing dragons out for one/two turns. They're weak against Furious dragons and strong against Cunning dragons.
The Furious dragons are the strongest class, and I think they take more damage? But I'm not sure about that. Their second move is almost always Intimidate, which makes the dragon who used it more powerful. Probably the best class and is really op when two are paired with Ruffrunner/the Exotic Whispering Death. This class has two Champions strangly, Champion Whipslash (arena 7) and the Champion Catastrophic Quaken (arena 3), I haven't found Whipslash yet but the Quaken is really fucking powerful. They are strong against Protectors and weak against Swifts.
My three biggest compinates about this system is the fact that only about 50 of the over 700 dragons in game are usable, while the gauntlet programing can use almost any dragon. Ik it's probably because they don't want to put to many resources into a mode that almost nobody likes but still. The second is that many dragons are hard to get and often are limited time or need way to many runes. The third is that you're never really given an explanation about how the system works? I've learned through trial and error and a youtube channel who does the occasional video.
Anyways, my fingers hurt and I think you get the point. I'll save the 'shitty mobile game has a better story then the movie its based on' rant for a later time
Tumblr media
I highly doubt I will ever play this game but at least now I know how the PvP system works

My Current Top Team:
Healers⚕️
Flank-Tanker the Rumblehorn
Tumblr media
Flank-Tanker is the team’s main healer, like the CMO (Chief Medical Officer). I mainly use her for healing all the team. Her ability “Call of Compassion” allows all allies to recover 25% of their health. As an added bonus, targeted foes take 100% damage and 1 other foe gets hit with ricochet damage. Needless to to say Flank-Tanker is one hell of a doctor (despite her unorthodox methods).
Tripfire the Stormcutter
Tumblr media
Tripfire is like Flank-Tanker’s PA (Physician Assistant). Her ability “Flame-Fling” allows her to find the weakest ally and recover their health by 35%. I tend to have Tripfire keep the team’s health somewhat stable while I try to get Flank-Tanker’s ability up and running (which can take a while if I’m not getting a lot of green tiles). Tripfire’s ability also deals 145% damage onto and targeted foe.
I really love Tripfire. She’s the first dragon I trained up to another star level and watching her grow from just another rookie to a permanent member of the top team has been so rewarding.
Saboeteurs ☠️
Vindjakker the Windgnasher
Tumblr media
Vindjakker is one of the 3 saboteurs in this team, and has to be the highest star rank of them too. He’s not hardest hitting dragon, but he makes up for it by making it difficult for the other teams to defend themselves. His ability “Coldsweat” makes all foes lose 13% accuracy for 3 turns and removes any beneficial effects that would protect the foes. This ability also makes Vindjakker invisible for 3 turns so he can continue his work behind the scenes. I tend to have him set up the foes and make them vulnerable before going in with the other two saboteurs to knock ‘em down.
Gruff Goregutter the Crimson Goregutter
Tumblr media
I just call him Gruff in my head, and Gruff is the designated heavy hitter of the 3 saboteurs. His ability “Scoria” allows him to deal 118% damage to targeted foes and makes it so that said foes take 32% increased damage for 3 turns. I tend to use him and Vindjakker together, with Vindjakker setting them up and Gruff taking them down.
I love this dragon a fair amount and he’s probably the best 2 star to have in your arsenal (in my opinion at least).
Anveil the Ghastly Zapplejack
Tumblr media
And finally, my first hybrid. The sweetest child of a Zesty Zippleback and a Tricky Timberjack. The baby of the team despite currently being the strongest: Anveil! Anveil is one of my most beloved dragons (mostly due to his cute idle animation where his two heads cuddle) and he’s the final saboteur of the team. His ability “Untouchable” allows him to inflict 70% damage onto all foes and causes them to lose 30% accuracy for 4 whole turns. The biggest bonus to his ability is that he helps the weakest ally recover 29% health, which ensures that I’m not entirely doomed in a match if I can’t get Tank-Flanker or Gruff’s ability up and running in time.
Well that’s the end of this post.
Catch ya on the flip side dudeskiz!

Tracker class dragons as pokemon types
I'll be going in wiki order. Find the others yourself.
Rockstomper: pure fire or fire/flying for being fast and able to set their tail and wings on fire.
Deadly Nadder: pure flying, poison/flying, or fire/flying for bird like behavior, venomous spines, fast flying, and one of the hotest breath attacks.
Mudraker: water/flying, water/ground, or water/normal for swampy habitat, mud loving nature, and sonic blasts.
Rumblehorn: pure rock, rock/flying, maybe rock/bug for beefyness, beetle like shell, and sharp sense of smell.
Snifflehunch: fire/flying or fire/normal for sneezing fire that melts through anything and being able to smell a friend and foes.
Submaripper: pure water, water/dragon, maybe water/poison for foul gas bubbles, titanic size, tidal class printing all over it, and whirlpools.
Thunderclaw: flying/fire or flying/normal for stampeding, lizard like sensing, and smell.
Windgnasher: fire/flying, ice/flying, or fire/ice for being demonstrated to use both fire and ice attacks. It also weak to hits to the head, so 4x rock weakness.
Gembreaker: rock/flying or pure rock for obvious reasons.
Snifflehide: normal/flying for lack of info and simplicity.
Vine Tail: pure normal for being monkey dragons.
