The paper’s wedged inbetween the pages of a brand-new book left on the other’s desk, looking too much like Chad tried too hard to make it seem like he didn’t care- A corner’s folded, the wording’s curt, but the fact that the gift had been made in the first place was undeniable.

// hello, happy munday! 2, 8, 16 please!
Munday questions
2 : are there any muses you have wanted to write for, but would be scared to try?
Well, a while ago I actually had a pretty strong Owain muse. I probably took to him because of how interesting it would be to write his dialogue, but that’s also why I just... couldn’t write him publicly either. It would take so much work for me to even get that muse off the ground that I’d probably exhaust myself.
8 : do you have a thread that consistently challenges you or has challenged you in the past? why? additionally, what kind of situations / threads are difficult for you as a writer, or for your muse?
Well, right now it’s definitely Berkut’s thread with Gerik. I’m so entertained by it, but it’s definitely not the kind of thread I usually write. Berkut about to throw down in an oil wrestling match against Gerik? Never would have thought I’d be writing that. At any rate, it’s only challenging for me because I don’t ordinarily venture into “crack” territory. But perhaps I should try it more often. It’s the only way I’d end up feeling comfortable with it.
Muse-wise, the most challenging threads are definitely ones that require my muse to be friendly or approachable. While Camus is a little bit easier to handle in social situations, despite his stoicism, Berkut and Julius are most certainly not. Getting interactions going, and keeping them going, after a simple introduction is pretty tough.
16 : is there anything you do to prepare for writing your muse? what do you do to summon them if they’re not present?
Camus is by far the easiest muse for me to write. I can summon him just by opening his drafts. But it shouldn’t be surprising that after having a muse for this long, I’d be able to fall right into writing him with relative ease. If I’m struggling though, I tend to put on some Celtic folk.
Julius is a stubborn one, and super finicky. If he’s not feeling like working, then there’s nothing I can do to coax him out. On the other hand, summoning Berkut has been pretty easy, but I’m also still riding the SoV hype. All I really need to do is play one of his battle themes and the muse is all ready to go.honestly I could listen to those tracks on repeat for hours; don’t even get me started on that iconic piano motif aaa

i had a sudden thought that silque and genny would be cute
[Oh man. I have thought the same! I love the idea of a cleric/cleric ship. I really dig the thought of Silque and Genny meeting and becoming good friends post-SoV and Genny joins her on her pilgrimage and they travel together helping people and yes. I like it. It would be cute]

                                                                 roleplay munday [ x ]
2. are there any muses you have wanted to write for, but would be scared to try?
i said alm and ( situationally ) lukas, right? continuing with the SoV train, i think python. he was a character that really appealed to me in the game right from his character art, before i even knew anything about him. and then the more i got into him, the more i loved him, from his lackadaisical and dismissive demeanor to his surprising skills of perception and honest, common sense. on that note, his support with clive is by far my favorite support in the game.
i think my issue with wanting to play him is that, although his character overall is very relatable to me and god i just like.........feel him on a spiritual level, i don’t think i could do his voice very well. he talks in a very particular way, and i don’t think i could get across his python......ness to the degree it has to be done in order to be properly python. ahh, if only, though.
9. what’s one character trait you have in common with your muse? one trait you don’t have in common?
i did zeiss, so ig i’ll do leif haha. leif and i have so much in common that it’s incredible, honestly haha. aside from the depressing traits, we both feel really hard? i mentioned this about him in an earlier ask, but he just feels emotions really intensely, which is something i share. it’s interesting cause i don’t cry very easily when i’m sad or whatever, but i’m sort of really Extra about every emotion. i’m never lowkey. i don’t think i know what chill is. sometimes i have to stop in the middle of walking places because i’m just hit with a huge wave of emotion and it’s not even any emotion in particular -- i’m not happy or sad it’s just like..... intensity.
fight on, little leif.
i do not, however, have leif’s incredible tenacity and determination. i tend to give up on things easily, and if i’m beaten down because i failed at something, yeah probably not gonna give it a second go. he’s also motivated by spite and by other people telling him he can’t do something. “yeah well i’ll show you!” i am decidedly not. someone tells me i can’t do something and i’m more likely to be like yeah you’re probably right.
18. what is your writing process? do you work in bursts of inspiration or have set times for writing? do you start drafts at the beginning or jump around? do you edit?
i pretty much make myself write every day if i can, with a typical goal of 3 non-ooc posts per day on whichever blog i’m working on. sometimes i reach it; sometimes i don’t; sometimes i smash past it with flying colors. so in that sense i like to keep a regimen of cycling through my blogs and making sure i do something every day. honestly, if i relied on bursts of hella inspiration to do stuff, i’d probably just never get anything done because i’m just so lazy.
i open up a draft, and go from beginning to end straight, and then post it when i’m done. i don’t make notes for my ideas; i don’t do some parts of a reply first; and i personally cannot stomach leaving a draft half-finished so if i start it, i’ve gotta finish it in one sitting or else it’s going to drive me haywire.
the only editing i do ( and this is gonna sound really silly ) is adding in / taking out / adjusting a word here and there for the sole purpose of making the lines as even as possible LMAO. it’s not even because i don’t think it sounds right or something; it’s just because i hate the fact that the dashboard doesn’t have a text justify option and if my lines aren’t all as close to the end of the window as possible before they cut off,  i can’t deal with it.
i’ll also sometimes merge or break up paragraphs if only is too grossly long or short and it messes up how the shape of the reply looks as a whole. aesthetics drive me crazy and are 100% the only reason i do any editing at all.

t... try me buddy... what would kliff and silas look like
{ CRACKS MY KNUCKLES hey buddy let’s do this
i think they could get along really well!! they both come off as pretty calm people, and silas would definitely respect all of kliff’s walls and barriers-- he’d take the time to try to get to know him, and even if kliff never told him a single thing... well, that’d be fine; he’d still care for him just the same.
i had this image while i was mulling it over of just... them hanging out together, reading, and kliff’s just absorbed in his book... and then when he finally looks up there’s warm tea on the table beside him (or whatever is his soothing beverage of choice) and some light snacks... they’re just there all of the sudden, because maybe silas noticed kliff clearing his throat or maybe there’s some other tell indicative of some sort of something. just... silas looking out for kliff without a word. and when he leaves there’s a new book on the desk, or some sort of trinket silas thought he might like...
and then what if silas told kliff a s • e • c • r • e • t, or something. and he knows kliff plays his cards close to his chest, but he wants kliff to know that he does trust him.
i guess that’s all very silas centric, ahaha, but. man. silas is all featherlight touches, brushing the hair out of someone’s eyes, rubbing circles onto their hands with his thumbs-- he’s comfort and gentle affection and care in every gesture, and that’s what he’d give.but he wouln’t push, wouldn’t even ask for anything, whether for better or worse. that’s just... silas.  it’s how he is.

5. Guilty pleasures
Something more innocuous--sleeping in. At the orphanage, one got up early because it was difficult to sleep. Too many children packed into too little a space. The rooms were poorly insulated for the winter. You went to bed still hungry. Someone cried in the dead of the night, and you couldn’t get back to sleep... And then in the abbey, well, good fucking luck with that one, the nuns would have none of that foolishness, my friend.
So when she can, she likes to sleep in, especially on rainy days when she can wake, listen to the rain, and then go back to sleep all cozy and warm.
6. Their vices (physical or emotional)
In another character meme--which I will fill out some day--it asks what mortal sin your muse is most associated with, and Serra is gluttony hands down. Serra takes. And takes. And takes. And she’s not particularly good at giving back, or giving at all. She hungers for material excess. She hoards trinkets and little things and hangs onto useless bits and pieces. She clings to people. She’s touch-starved, craves attention, and wants more, always more.

If you had the power to change one thing about the past, what might that be?
Emmeryn hesitates. She shouldn’t. She shouldn’t hesitate. She could stop her father from invading Plegia, the first time. She could stop Gangrel from rejecting her aid, she could do better- she could...there’s so much she could improve-
“I would save my mother.” Chrom and Lissa deserved a real mother. One they could remember well, one she barely recalled herself. Childbirth had taken her, and, Emmeryn was a healer now. A good one, she’d learned to be. She could save her-

Of Worlds Condemned/ Kliff + Ewan
He half ran, half stumbled down the wooded hill, clutching his side as he went. This was far enough, right? This had to be far enough. With a grunt of pain and no small effort, the youth gingerly seated himself behind a fair sized tree. Hopefully its ample size might provide an extra moment's cover if, for whatever saint-forsaken reason, it was required.
There was so much to consider. Too much. The thoughts piled one atop another: exactly what manner of creature was it that has attacked him? It had appeared similar to a revenant, and yet... And while he was at it, where exactly was he, if not in Magvel, and how had he come to be here? Was his teacher all right? But all of these thoughts were mere echoes vying for what scant attention could be paid them - the better part of Ewan's focus lay on the small but aggravated wound at his side, and its pain spoke much louder than the rest of his addled thoughts all put together.
"Saints above," he muttered through a laboured breath. He'd really gotten himself into a jam, this time.

“What the fuck, man!” Chad snapped back, coffee cup now half-empty and its contents spilled over the other’s front, the other’s own beverage now all but drenching his messenger bag and basically everything inside- The blond put the cup on a table at the side none too gently, rifling through his bag with one hand in a panic, swearing all the while- Art supplies and liquids did not mix, at all. The ugly brown stain on his sketchbook was all he needed as confirmation, really.
Teeth clenched as he glared up at the other, an ugly snarl in his throat as he dropped his bag and took a menacing step closer, surprisingly intimidating for someone of his stature. Then again, bumping into someone in the coffee shop had not been on his agenda today, and boy, was he hating the intrusion.
“Don’t you have fucking eyes? Stuck in that damn book of yours- Now look at what you’ve done, dipshit!”

Number headcanon meme
17. Regrets
So, so many.  Rudolf knows regrets are just a natural part of life (he learns this roughly halfway through his reign), but I think the number of them he has are... staggering, and he acknowledges that isn’t the norm.
Under cut on both of these for major spoilers.
His regret pile is like a triangle, the point at the top is the focus and weighs on his mind frequently (sometimes everyday), and the base of the triangle are more trivial matters that he knows he would have done differently if not for the Prophecy screwing Rigel over.
At the top primarily is about Alm and Berkut individually.  The former that his fatherhood he was looking forward to was robbed from him, now having to play as fate’s pawn and powerful enemy in Alm’s way in the future.  Not being able to personally raise or ease his son’s pain, but coming to accept he knows his most trusted friend Mycen will do it in his stead.  Outside of his isolation, he forces himself to forget he’s ever had a son when at court and at war meetings, only bringing him up as a random nobody when the other party speaks of him and none else.  Yesterday, I shared a headcanon on a chat that there were no secure ways to communicate privately by letter during wartime.  Soldiers and even the Duma Faithful confiscated any suspicious letters (especially from Zofia) that may hold secret information—the security only tightening during the year Zeke turned up.  So there were zero ways Mycen and Rudolf could relay updates to one another without getting on the suspicion radars with other people’s Brandeds hunts.
Berkut’s I will save for another post that directly involves him, as I firmly believe although Rudolf may have all those regrets about his son, they don’t weigh heavier than the ones about the poor nephew.
Everything else falls into a big basket under that and are lumped together as other grievances of knowing x or y wouldn’t have happened if not for the prophecy (invading with violence thus forcing a coup in Zofia, the best courses of action to deal with Rigel’s famine & dealing with Lima IV’s incompetence).  Something tells me prior to Rudolf’s “turning point” in life with how Mycen and a random Novis NPC vaguely referenced/described younger Rudolf that he attempted to be progressive with Rigel’s ideals, but thanks to fate’s hand, he took it head-on to form himself into a certain role only he could lead—this, in turn, though, made him more secretive and seemingly taking advantage of his people’s trust and love for him to follow any order.  Believing the Empire would never succumb when all along they were fighting a losing war, all according to their leader’s plan.
Guilt, regrets, and betrayal all come into the package when it comes to Rigel in general, misguiding his own men through the suffering they had to do—but led them right if they were still willing to listen to him after his death, which... speaks volumes on how far he put up a believable face for his people, so this actually might’ve been easier for him to cope with and not feel horribly haunted by guilt over it.
20. What-ifs/Alternate Timelines
Ohhh, there’s one canon AU I’ve spoken with @rigelsprince among several other server folks the other day.  This goes off the basis idea that Alm was kept and raised Rigelian, Berkut groomed to be Alm’s personal bodyguard to keep the Duma Faithful out.  In this, I doubt Jedah would be Rudolf’s advisor—that’s one step too close to his son he couldn’t afford to lose.  Unfortunately, this means tensions would grow deeper between the Empire’s people and the Jedah-Dumaist church depending how many assassination or abduct attempts they try on Alm’s soul.  Rudolf will likely only sleep with one eye open for the longest time, if not become... much lighter than what he already was as a light sleeper.  Most of the raising would have to be done in private, still tutoring Alm in all he needed to know generally and in order to bypass the Faithful and put an end of Duma’s madness.

Divine Absolution || Silque & Kliff
@wisdomxseeker
He had never considered himself greatly religious, but as he stood in this inner sanctum where only the Mother may judge him, he felt a twinge of regret.
Not enough to make Kliff want to drastically change his ways, however. He may be serious and devout in his studies, but there was too much for him to see of the world, and the teachings of Mila did not exactly align with his ambitions.
But he would be lying if he never thought about a life like that. With the state of the world just outside those doors, sometimes, he found himself hesitating. And in these moments of rest, quiet and still save for the air of forgiveness…
He would clasp his hands and close his eyes, whispering a humble prayer:
May the Mother save us all.
May the Earth Mother be with me.
Silque never regretted her choice in following in her mother’s footsteps. She felt the call to divinity, to worship and to servitude to Mila, in her bones since she was a child. There was much she did not understand then, that she learned as she lived at the Priory. But her path had always been set. A clear line in front of her eyes.
Silque’s eyes fluttered closed, in prayer, as she mouthed words that were only for herself and Mila to hear. Her earlier words were the truth. She felt a purpose in her life. In being able to use the magic she had in order to heal and help others. No matter what happened, in these moments, she felt at peace.
“Do you agree Kliff?” Her voice is soft and curious, but not judgmental. She’d accept whatever answer he gave.

5. guilty pleasures
is definitely the kind of person who owns too many wyvern toys, which in his case are often makeshift from leftover useless objects like large crates and barrels that he keeps around so rubley can have something to gnaw on / mess around with. he will occasionally binge purchase a bunch of manufactured toys from merchants when he sees them though, because apparently rubley doesn’t have enough to occupy his time with. he’s a spoiled wyvern, in this case.
13. what gets them flustered
genuine compliments, because he isn’t sure how to react to them. for starters, he’s quite humble and tends to downplay his own achievements, so he feels weirdly put on the spot when he’s complimented. secondly, both miredy and galle, though very supportive, are not the types to praise someone even if they are doing well, so zeiss is much more accustomed to being told what he needs to do to improve, or where he’s lacking. he understands that this is a form of care and constructive criticism, and is thus caught off guard when he’s praised. he’ll likely just mutter thank yous and keep thanking you if you continue, even if it’s not flattery, because he just doesn’t know how else to respond and will probably get a little bit uncomfortable if it doesn’t stop soon.
18. things they’ll never admit
that he sometimes is bitter towards miredy and feels a subconscious pressure from her success and status. she earned the confidence of the young princess very early on in her career, and was able to move quickly through the ranks due to a mixture of that, knowing galle, and her own innate skill. zeiss has never been personally ambitious, and is quite content being a regular soldier as long as he’s able to serve his country and his monarch, and is under a benevolent, constructive leadership.
however, because miredy is in a position of command, people seem to expect that he’ll be the same, and some also see him as a potential threat because of it, when, if left to his own devices outside of his sister’s influence, he would likely never pursue that actively.
she has also expressed hope before that he’ll be recognized suitably for his talents, which he knows is said out of love and her wish for him to be respected and to be successful, but he’s not sure — has never been sure — that he’s cut out for leadership, and can’t help but be a little stressed by the thought and by the trickle-down effect of her evident prestige.

Of Boys and Boeys
@wisdomxseeker said:  ❛ i don’t have time for a relationship. do you know how many books i need to read? ❜
Dorothy had been minding her own business near the Church’s grounds, making sure everything was under control. Somehow, she found these moments to be the best to gather her thoughts about the day. Currently, she was sitting in the Church’s steps, muttering to herself.
“I don’t know...” she said, her chin resting on her hand, looking at the sky. “A dress would be nice, it’s usually pretty hot, but I like my current outfit... I also should buy more bandages...” A yawn escaped her mouth. “And also... practice, I guess? That’s also good... maybe there’s something to do inside the Church. When did I last check?” Dorothy raised an eyebrow, that was a very good question.
She heard mumbling afterwards, but this time, it didn’t seem like she was the origin of such a thing, but a boy walking slowly in front of the Church. Her heart almost stopped, had he heard her mumbles? Was he talking about her? She stayed silent for a moment, to listen to something he said, only catching one little phrase...
By the time she was done listening, she had already stood up and followed him. “Hey, are you... are you okay?” Perhaps it wasn’t the best to approach someone silently with a bow and arrow, even if her motive was friendly.

AWAWAWAH... KLIFF...... i think silas would probably have some idea that kliff was confused!! he might not wholly understand, but he wouldn’t ever ask him to reply to or return his affections. they’re just... there, because they are-- and they’d always be things that could be ignored if kliff really doesn’t like silas doing the silas thing but maybe if kliff let it continue then there would be notes sometimes, too-- simple things, like mention of how he hopes the book makes him smile, or a note beside a locket that’s beautiful inside and out. he’d find a way, somehow, to show kliff all the wonderful sides of himself that he might not be able to see

Monster Hunting [Zeke & Kliff]
continued from here @wisdomxseeker
The cave was a narrow one - the width of perhaps three or four men standing shoulder-to-shoulder - and while it opened up into a cavern up ahead, the path remained just as small. Great pools of water, the depths of which were difficult to determine in the murky darkness, lined either side of it, splashing across the gravelly stones with every thrash of the great beast’s tail.       “A dagon?” Zeke repeated, eyes fixed on the blue, reptilian creature baring its teeth before them. It stretched its neck skyward and released another roar to shake even the stalactites hanging from the ceiling. He tightened his grip on his lance - its hide seemed thick, and the worry that even a powerful thrust would end in the spear tip bouncing uselessly off its scales kept him firmly in place.       “There is no way to go around.” Not without swimming, at any rate, and diving into black waters to avoid a creature that lived in them seemed a surefire way to die. “And no other way out.”       At the very least, perhaps they could retreat the way they had come and wait for the dagon to grow bored, but how long that would take remained a risk as well. Their supplies were running low. Zeke took a cautious step nearer Kliff, watching the beast’s eyes flicker like reflective mirrors as they turned to watch him.       “Our best option may be to attack from a distance,” he suggested. "To stay out of range of its teeth."

LAUGHS I didn’t even spell it right I’m an awful Miriel already, but yes a great favorite!!!
