how do you decide on a character design? especially for canon characters that don't have anything to go off?

my silly secret is that before coming up with an idea for Sybil, I came up with the concept of Meat Beat for a Psychonaut OC, as I and Doc were bouncing the concept of a Look Outside AU off each other and said OC was in Sybil's place.

and sometimes you make such a banging design you're like 'what if i copy my own homework'

Okay so basically the United States MINT of all people is going to be working with DC to make a line of coins! These coins sadly won't be in circulation (the things I would do to live in a world where I could get Batman coins from the supermarket) as they're collectors coins, but will be releasing over the course of the next 3 years, 2025-2027.

Designs haven't been released yet (the same is true for all 2025 designs) but we know there will be 9 coins in total (3 each year) with the first year featuring (of course!!!) Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Although we know the first three heroes to be featured, the remaining six have yet to be decided, and it turns out the Mint is putting out a survey on their site to gauge which of a group of culturally significant heroes people want to see most! (link to the form is mentioned in the article above)

The considered group includes: Supergirl, the Flash, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, John Stewart GL, Aquaman, Hawkman, Jamie Reyes BB, Robin (Damian?), Cyborg, and Batgirl, of which 6 will be selected.

As someone who does a bit of coin collecting myself (mainly circulation coins like the quarters sets, but I also have a couple proof and collectors coins) I think this is a really cool and interesting idea that showcases the history of the comics medium and these characters and their influence on American culture. Really excited to wait and see what the designs look like for the coins already announced!

I'm sorry, but one of the funniest thing in the Hound of the Baskervilles is the inclusion of that one guy that everyone fucking hate because he's a known asshole but for some reason he hasn't picked up on that fact (there is like seven people in the moor, you would think he would notice that they tried to not talk to him) and his hobby are :

1. Suing people (with no discernable pattern, a true wild card)

2. Being a stalker (with his plot important telescope)

3. Being a dick to his daughter (main reason why everyone hates him. It is also plot important)

Like there is a killer AND another killer AND magical dog from Hell on the loose, and yet his concern are that he will soon run out of money to sue people. Heartbreaking. Someone should do a crowdfunding for him.

To be honest, stardew valley has me in such a chokehold. It always has, even before the 1.6.

Most modern christians don't like acknowledging that the description of the firmament and god dividing the waters below and the waters above is supposed to be literal, as in ancient people believed that there was a dome holding up heavenly water, allowing us to have air and dry land (with little holes in said dome to give us rain) and thus told stories about god creating it. I think this is in part because a good chunk don't realize this was what the author(s) of genesis believed and think the firmament is a metaphorical concept, but i honestly find this idea of waters in heaven so beautiful—both the image of heavenly waters and the conception of this thought by ancient people to explain the world

Not sure if I ever talked abt it on here but I've been getting into astrophotography the past month (which is so far both a lot easier and a lot harder than I expected lol). So far I don't have all that much to show for it (except a couple nice pictures of the moon and freaking out because my old little lumix camera captured a couple stars of 11.5 magnitude (where I am, that's more than twice as dim as what I can see with the naked eye)) BUT I've been learning slowly and now I can find quite a few constellations n shit and am enjoying it a lot..... I used to have a very small very broken telescope when I was a kid; now I have my eye on a couple (more or less) affordable models that I could hook up to a camera and take some better pics..... I'd thought my space-related interests had mostly died out, so it's nice to see it come back like this :,)

My telescope is second hand, which means it came with a few problems.

The tripod has extendable legs, made of 2 aluminium bars which sandwich a 3rd. The pressure on the third stops it from slipping.

That pressure is applied by a metal bolt in a plastic housing. Unfortunately, the plastic has been splitting for some time.

Now not even glue will hold it.

The telescope isn't so practical if you can't extend these legs, so something needs to be done about that, maybe some replacement parts -

Huh. And not including shipping...

Now that's more like it.

The plan is to 3d print some thing to hold a clamp in place, so I can still adjust the leg length without needing three (3) hands

Here's my design, with some fancy smooth curves:

One came out nicely, but the second was printed on a much warmer day and I forgot to adjust to compensate:

The plan is to glue it on to the leg
