Everything You Need To Know About Dentistry
Being a dentist has its perks and hardships. Yes, studying to be any kind of a medical doctor is hard and you will definitely face some challenges, crisis, and struggles, but, it will all be worth it in the end when you become a doctor. A dentist is no stranger to that, because when you see the smiles on the faces of your patients, it’ll feel like all your weariness fades.
But first, what is dentistry? It is the treatment of diseases and other conditions that affect the teeth and gums, especially the repair and extraction of teeth and the insertion of artificial ones. A specialist or doctor that practices dentistry is called a dentist and will be given the title of DMD or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry
Now, here are some things that you need to know about dentistry; the types of dental specialists, the importance of dentists and dentistry, the benefits of being a dentist, and of course, how and where YOU can study to become a dentist yourself!
6 TYPES OF DENTAL SPECIALISTS
Endodontist:  Root canal specialist
Inside the teeth are tiny cavern-like passages called canals that contain sensitive living tissue, blood vessels, and nerves. Endodontists specialize in diagnosing and treating issues within our tooth. For example, if your tooth’s pulp becomes infected you may need a root canal.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon:  Oral surgery specialist
This specialist focuses on treating problems related to the hard and soft tissues of the face, mouth, and jaw. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons specialize in treatments that require complex procedures or deep levels of sedation – beyond nitrous oxide or laughing gas. Procedures performed by oral surgeons include tooth extractions, corrective jaw surgery, and cleft lip or cleft palate surgery.
Orthodontist: Alignment specialist
Orthodontics is about correcting teeth and jaws that are out of position. You may see an orthodontist if your jaw isn’t aligned properly leading to an overbite, under bite or cross bite. You may see an orthodontist if your teeth are crooked or misaligned. In these situations, an orthodontist may use braces, clear aligners, palatal expanders, or headgear as part of your treatment plan.
Pediatric Dentist:  Kid dental specialist
Pediatric dentists are to a child’s oral health like pediatricians are to their overall health. They’re dentists who specialize in the oral development and care of children from infancy through their teens. Pediatric dentists help your child stay on the path to a lifelong, healthy smile. They provide routine exams and cleanings, habit counseling (stop thumb sucking), fillings for cavities, and diagnosis of oral conditions associated with other diseases like childhood diabetes.
Periodontist:  Gum specialist
Periodontal dentistry focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases that affect the gums, and other structures that support the teeth. Periodontists recognize and treat the early stages of gum disease, perform minor surgery to resolve severe gum disease, and restore the appearance of your smile.
Prosthodontist:  Replacement specialist
Prosthodontists focus on restoring and replacing lost or damaged teeth. Prosthodontists have a unique understanding of everything that goes into a beautiful, functional, and natural-looking smile. Prosthodontists specialize in porcelain veneers, crowns, dental implants, fixed bridges, dentures, and reconstructive dentistry.
IMPORTANCE OF DENTISTS / DENTISTRY
A Healthy Mouth Is Good For Your Body
Taking good care of your mouth, teeth and gums is a worthy goal in and of itself. Good oral and dental hygiene can help prevent bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease—and can help you keep your teeth as you get older.
A healthy mouth may help you ward off medical disorders. An unhealthy mouth, especially if you have gum disease, may increase your risk of serious health problems such as heart attack, stroke, poorly controlled diabetes and preterm labor.
Teeth that function properly allow good nutrition is critically important to health and well-being. Teeth that function properly are essential for optimal nutrition. Unhealthy teeth and gums can contribute to systemic conditions as bacteria from the mouth can more easily enter the blood stream. A smile also reveals a great deal about a person—not only one’s disposition, but how much value one places on appearance as well. It is an important ingredient for success and self-esteem. A nice smile communicates confidence, attractiveness and friendliness.
Successful dentistry should last for many years in health, provides comfort and function, improves esthetic appearance and often includes a contingency plan in the event that something goes wrong. Dentistry, like the rest of the structures in the human body, may not last a lifetime. Successful Dentistry, however, preserves the teeth for the day when the dental restorations must be remade due to changes in the oral cavity or wear of the materials.
 DUTIES OF BEING A DENTIST
Dentists help their patients protect, restore and maintain their oral health. They diagnose and treat diseases, and administer care to injuries and malformations of the teeth, oral tissues and the mouth. Dentists also check a patient's head and neck areas as they relate to oral health.
Your job duties as a dentist include restoring and replacing teeth that have been damaged through disease or injury, and advising patients on proper oral health care to prevent future problems. This includes teaching your patients how to floss, brush their teeth and choose an appropriate diet. Other tasks include applying sealants to teeth, taking molds of teeth, extracting teeth, and performing cosmetic dental procedures to improve a patient's appearance.
Dentists employ a variety of procedures and equipment to prevent and treat oral health problems. You'll use advanced technologies to examine the teeth and mouth, including X-rays and computer-generated imaging. You'll fill cavities and remove tooth decay using brushes, forceps and drills.
In addition to patient care, a dentist's duties may include administrative and business-oriented tasks related to owning or running a dental practice. For instance, you might interact with suppliers and vendors. Depending on the size of the practice, you might also do bookkeeping. Management of personnel, including hiring, training and supervising hygienists, receptionists and other dental staff, may be part of the job.
 BENEFITS OF BEING A DENTIST
You can specialize according to your interests
If you opt for a career in dentistry, you can pursue many avenues. For example, you might opt to focus on cosmetic procedures so that you can transform the appearance of a patient’s mouth. Alternatively, you might want to spend most of your time on oral and maxillofacial pathology, researching and managing the major diseases that affect the head, neck, face and jaw.
You will have varied experiences and meet different people
A career in dentistry will guarantee that you will never be bored. Every day, you will see a wide range of patients with unique problems and goals when it comes to their dental health. In addition, you will have a chance to meet very different people from all sorts of backgrounds during a career in dentistry, and part of your job will involve being able to relate to these people in a way that makes them feel comfortable.
You can educate the public
Dentistry is a highly-respected profession, and those who pursue a career in dentistry have a unique opportunity to influence the health of the public (spreading information and advice about maintaining good oral health). For example, in addition to educating your own patients, you may have the opportunity to visit schools and speak to children about their teeth and gums.
You will have a high degree of freedom and flexibility
By opting for a career in dentistry, you are entering a field that will allow you to have a strong influence over the balance of your work and home life. A career in dentistry means that you will have a chance to be your own boss, and you will have a wide range of job opportunities (ranging from work in private practice to a career in dentistry that revolves around research positions in hospitals).
HOW TO BE A DENTIST AND WHERE TO STUDY IN THE PHILIPPINES
To become a dentist here in the Philippines you’ll need to study Dentistry and pass the board exam. Some universities offer a 6-year dentistry course, while some don’t. If you opt to take a pre-med before taking up dentistry proper, it will take longer, which will take up to 8 years.
But, here is a list of top schools and universities in the Philippines offering dentistry courses.
1.     University of the East
2.     Centro Escolar University

Ten best food shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar

Ten best food shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar
Tumblr media
Let me say it straight away— I am not a big fan of food shows. Cruelly aspirational, my kitchen looks nothing like the fancy ones on the show, and even if I were to follow the simplest of recipes, where the chef du jour is just throwing things together to create a fabulous dish, it would unfailingly turn into an unpalatable mess.
Being vegetarian by choice, I find it difficult to watch all that meat. But duty calls and as I dived headlong into the world of food shows on streaming platforms, I discovered the meditative calm of sushi, the anthropological evidence for Prometheus, the heart-breaking beauty of Havana, the unfailingly-disturbing Lord of the Flies and the joy of desserts. One of my favourite Bob Dylan lines suddenly popping up in the middle of a show was an added bonus. So here, in no particular order, are 10 shows you could check out to learn about the emotions, history and techniques of food.
MasterChef Australia
Tumblr media
Disney+Hotstar, Seasons: 12, Episodes: 768, Runtime: 30-120 minutes
With new judges, restaurateur and chef Jock Zonfrillo, food writer Melissa Leong and season four winner Andy Allen replacing Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston, Season 12 of the cooking reality show is different yet with the same amounts of drama and intrigue. The mystery boxes, pressure tests, and immunity challenges do not fail to thrill as contestants create works of art from duck’s oesophagus, (really) chocolate, parsnip, parsley, fennel coconut, chilli, mango, lemon chicken and potatoes.
A mild Gordon Ramsay and Katy Perry are celebrity judges while the contestants are winners from previous seasons. If reality shows are your thing, you cannot go wrong with this veteran based on a British show from the 90s where amateurs and home cooks competed for the ultimate cooking prize. Season 12, which started to air on April 13, is into week 5 which is the Twists Week.
Jiro Dreams of Sushi
Tumblr media
Netflix, 81 minutes
When the hurlyburly’s done, when the battle’s lost and won, (cooking and restaurants always remind me of Macbeth), it is time to move to sushi. David Gelb’s documentary about an 85-year-old sushi master, Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011) is beautifully calm. While the movie is all about the perfect cut, the freshest seafood, massaging the octopus for 45 minutes instead of 30, Jiro Dreams of Sushi also tells the story of fathers and sons.
Jiro Ono started working at the age of seven at a local restaurant. A formal portrait of young Jiro with his father holding his hand is all he has of his father, who seems to have lost his money and taken to drinking. Jiro says he did not go to his father’s funeral. Jiro’s elder son, Yoshikazu (50) who will eventually take over the restaurant, still works for his father. Jiro speaks of the kind of tough love he has dispensed to his sons (the younger son has opened his own sushi restaurant) to ensure they will be able to carry on. Even if you are not a fan of sushi, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, with its evocative music and dazzling photography is irresistible.
The Chef Show
Tumblr media
Netflix, Seasons: 3, Episodes: 20, Runtime: 26-34 minutes
This is a delightful show for all nerds, geeks and comic-book fans. In 2014 Jon Favreau wrote, acted and directed Chef, a charming film about a successful chef who gives it all up to run a food truck. Roy Choi, the creator of the gourmet Korean-Mexican taco truck, Kogi, was consultant for the film and trained Favreau on all the ninja chef moves.
Incidentally, Favreau directed Iron Man, the movie that set the ball rolling for the gargantuan Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Chef Show which premiered on June 7, 2019 is a spin-off of the film and features Favreau and Choi experimenting with fun recipes (yes that grilled cheese is a star) and breaking bread with some of the biggest names in the entertainment business. It was fun watching them do a pepper pot for Gwyneth Paltrow (nudge, nudge) at Goop and have Tom Holland discuss his audition with Robert Downey Jr.
Ugly Delicious
Tumblr media
Netflix, Seasons: 2, Episodes: 12, Runtime: 45-55 minutes
Chef David Chang uses popular food to dissect the concepts of travel, history, culture and the notion of authenticity. The first episode, which premiered on February 23, 2018 looks at pizza—from the uber traditional pizzas in Mark Iacono’s pizzeria, Lucali, in Brooklyn to a tuna mayonnaise one in Savoy in Tokyo and one from Dominos! There are also stops in Frank Pepe in Connecticut, Antillo’s pizzeria in Naples and Bæst in Copenhagen.
With a variety of guests, including food writer Peter Meehan, comic Aziz Ansari and TV show host Jimmy Kimmel, Ugly Delicious is an in-depth look at everyday food. Watching Chef Floyd Cardoz enjoying Awadhi cuisine in the episode on Indian food, which also featured Padma Laxmi, was particularly poignant as Chef Cardoz passed away on March 25, 2020 of COVID-19.
Salt Fat Acid Heat
Tumblr media
Netflix, Seasons: 1, Episodes: 4, Runtime: 40–48 minutes
The four-part show, which premiered October 11, 2018, is based on Samin Nosrat’s bestselling cookbook, Salt Fat Acid Heat (2017). The show sees the chef, TV show host and food writer travel the world to investigate the four pillars of cooking namely salt, fat, acid and heat. She travels to Italy to explore fat and the concept of “noble meat,” Japan for salt, Mexico for acid and Chez Panisse (where she worked her way up from bussing tables to chef) for heat. Salt Fat Acid Heat is an interesting way of looking at food buttressed by a charming host and Instagram worthy locales.
Cooked
Tumblr media
Netflix, Seasons: 1, Episodes: 4, Runtime: 50-58 minutes
Samin Nosrat is described as “the chef who taught Michael Pollan how to cook” and features in Cooked, Pollan’s four-part documentary based on his eponymous book. The documentary travels the globe to explore the different aspects of cooking, which serendipitously correspond with the four elements—earth, water, fire, and air. Pollan, a writer (The Botany of Desire, The Omnivore’s Dilemma) activist and professor looks at the socio-cultural impact of food on our lives.
In collaboration with Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, Cooked travels with an aboriginal tribe to hunt goanna (a type of monitor lizard) and tries to bridge the gap between our “meat transactions which are hidden behind feed lots and abattoirs” and our plates. There is also singer-songwriter James Taylor singing a song to his pig, Mona.
Street Food Asia
Tumblr media
Netflix, Seasons: 1, Episodes: 9, Runtime: 30-34 minutes
Released on April 26, 2019, Street Food Asia looks at street food in Bangkok, Osaka, Yogyakarta (Indonesia), Chiayi (Taiwan), Seoul, Singapore and Cebu (Philippines). Looking at the bustling Mangal Chat Wale, the delicious kebabs at Karim’s and batura at Nand di Hatti in the Delhi segment, one can only imagine the silence on the streets now with the lockdown and the number of livelihoods affected. Truoc’s Snail Stall in Ho Chi Minh was a revelation of the number and variety of edible snails.
Chef’s Table
Tumblr media
Netflix, Seasons: 6, Episodes: 30, Runtime: 50 minutes
David Gelb, who also created Street Food Asia, considers Chef’s Table a spiritual successor to his Jiro Dreams of Sushi. The show which premiered on April 26, 2015, profiles professional chefs, their inspirations, dedication and determination to make it. Chefs from all over the world including Italy (Massimo Bottura), Argentina (Francis Mallmann), Sweden (Magnus Nilsson) Brazil (Alex Atala), South Korea (Jeong Kwan) and Russia (Vladimir Mukhin), are featured. Gaggan Anand and Asma Khan represent India though their restaurants are in Bangkok and London.
The episode featuring Christina Tosi, founder and owner of Milk Bar and creator of the infamous crack pie was a revelation into what drives these men and women to create delicious works of art. It also revealed the workings of a restaurant including the family meal, where the crack pie (a pie so good it is addictive) was born. Seeing David Chang (he hired Tosi and encouraged her to open the Milk Bar) gives that special joy of connections.
Eat the World with Emeril Lagasse
Tumblr media
Amazon Prime, Seasons: 1, Episodes: 6, Runtime: 30 minutes
Emeril Lagasse, the star of cookery shows in the 90s and nougties, travels the world with other chefs discovering the cuisine of different places. The entertaining and informative show was first aired on September 2, 2016. Eat the World… sees Lagasse in Sweden exploring New Nordic with chef Marcus Samuelsson, searching for the Shanghai soup dumpling with Mario Batali, exploring modernist cuisine in Barcelona with chef José Andrés, Jeong Kwan’s vegan cuisine in South Korea and Franco Pepe’s pizza with Nancy Silverton in the Campania region of Italy. In colourful Havana, Emeril and Aarón Sánchez taste the freshest of vegetables from urban gardens in an Ajiaco stew, a fine roasted pig with a cigar instead of an apple in its mouth—it is Cuba after all – and dine at a paladar (restaurants run out of homes).
Kantaro: The Sweet Tooth Salaryman
Tumblr media
Netflix, Seasons: 1, Episodes: 12, Runtime: 24 minutes
This is the perfect dessert to end a food show marathon. Based on the manga series, Saboriman Ametani Kantarou by Tensei Hagiwara, Kantaro: The Sweet Tooth Salaryman follows the adventures of Ametani Kantarou, (Onoe Matsuya) who quits his job as a programmer and joins a publishing house to indulge his sweet tooth. In the first episode, which aired on July 7, 2017, he zips through his sales calls to visit the Kanmidokoro Hatsune, a traditional sweet shop in Ningyōchō. There he samples anmitsu and is transported into dessert fantasy. His rhapsodies over the jelly, fruit, gyūhi and agony over choosing between white and black syrup are endearing.

"My Jollibee Story"
I am originally from Mindanao. My life there was poor and very sad😂 (Kiddin aside) Yes, truly. We needed money so i went to Cebu to seek for a job. Luckily, i have my two sisters already residing there. So the struggle was just how to deal with new environment. I've made so much self adjustment. To cut the story short, i was employeed at one of the biggest call center company in the Philippines. I don't know how did it happen 😂 maybe my enterviewee was just kind. (but i really prayed for it. ) The job was not easy. From "English only" work environment down to crazy work schedule , having that home sick. I feel so uninspired. Tired and all. I've always thought of quitting. Not until i met Lei, April, Lucci, Jeneil, cecilia, Grace(but we call each other "why bird"😂) and alot of people i cannot mentioned one by one. (Lazy person here ✋😂)People there actually were very kind. No one has that crab mentallity. No one does that backstabbing and all. That I certainly love cebuanos 😇 By the way, focusing on the title, me and my friends often dined at Jollibee , IT park Cebu. The ambiance is nice. Crew too. When i resigned from that job last october 2017, (because i was got hire to a government agency,)everytime i went back to Cebu, Jollibee always seemed to be our "Tagpuan" we liked to sit outside like near the lobby because we are so loud.😂.........talk of the days when we're apart while eating fries and just some drinks. 😇 And also it is the place for our goodbyes. 😢 That's the saddest part. 😢 That place somehow gave me goosebumps whenever i think of those days. 😢 it was a mix of happy moments and sad goodbyes. I'll be back. Cebu certainly my second home. I left my heart there so that i have the reason to always wanted to go back. Surely, how i miss the place, is nearly the same how i miss the people around me . That's why i guess i'm typing this nonsense drama 😂
Tumblr media
PS: Credit to the owner of the photo. I don't have my own pic, i just got that from google 😊 what i have int he phone are all our selfies and there's no indication that it is in that Jollibee because the screen already full with our faces 😂
Thanks for spending time reading my drama today 😂 inspired by Maine Mendoza actually. I've just found the place where i can tell what's inside my heart ❤

Biography
Tumblr media
Jesse Robredo: The True-Blooded Hero
On May 27, 1958, a true blooded hero was conceived in Naga City. Jesse Manalastas Robredo was the third out of five children of parents Jose Chan Robredo Sr, a Filipino-Chinese, and Marcelina Manalastas, a bicolana. Trading and trawler-building were his family’s sources of income while he was growing up. His father was said to play a huge part in making him firm with his strong values as well. As time passed by, Jose suffered retinitis pigmentosa, which made him lose his vision eventually.
This, however, did not let Jesse down. He studied at Naga Parochial School in elementary and in 1970, entered Ateneo De Naga and studied really hard there. Later on, he took up Industrial Management Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at the De La Salle University. During these times, he would go home early to help his family with their business. He and his siblings would take turns in taking care of their father, entertaining him, and operating the store (“Who is Jesse Robredo,” 2017).
The next few years of Robredo was replete with achievements. His first job was at Carnation Philippines but in 1980, began his work at the Physical Distribution Services of San Miguel Corporation. After a while, he got assigned to logistics planning and practically became a staff assistant to Magnolia ice cream’s physical distribution. He also finished his master’s in Business Administration as a scholar at the University of the Philippines Diliman and acquired an award entitled “Graduate School and Faculty Organization awardee.”
1986 was a life-changing moment for him. During that year, he returned to Naga where he got assigned as the Program Director of the Bicol River Basin Development Program and was also when he met his wife, Leni Robredo.
In one of her interviews, Leni narrated how they met.
“Kaka-graduate ko pa lang sa UP ng Economics, umuwi pa ako sa amin para magtrabaho. Iyong pinakauna ko pong boss ay ang aking asawa. Doon pa kami nagkakilala,” she said
A year later, they decided to exchange vows and get married. Currently, they have three daughters named Aika, Tricia, and Jillian (“Leni Robredo Remembers People Power Inspired Love Story With Jesse,” 2016).
In 1988, he became Naga’s youngest mayor at the age of 29. It was shocking to his close relatives and friends though for they never saw him entering politics. One of his cousins even said that he was a “late bloomer.” He only got involved in it when Benigno Aquino Jr. was shot dead for since then, he joined rallies, marches, and other acts to show his stand.
His leadership drastically changed the system of the city. Back then, Naga was nothing but a third-world city. It was him who introduced the concept of corporate management in a political setting. Robredo dismantled the system of “palakasan” in hiring and promotion by conducting an aptitude test and merit-based system for all government employees. Another trait of his governance was his practical decisions. He did not spend a lot in reconstructing his office.
“Bakit ako gagasta ng maraming pera para sa City Hall? Ipapagawa ko na lang ng kalsada. Ano’ng returns sa pagpapaganda ng City Hall?”
This was his response when asked about the condition of the community’s main building. His concept of “bureaucratic efficiency” and “fiscal prudence” contributed to the growth of Naga. In fact, savings were generated because of it (Aseron & Isaac, 2012).
After numerous terms as mayor, the city’s gross city product became even higher than the country’s gross national product by 115%. Even during 1997’s Asian economic crisis when almost all Asian countries, including the Philippines, were having difficulties, Naga was stable enough to support itself.
In spite of all the achievements, Jesse never stopped proving himself. In 1995, he got elected as the President of the League of Cities of the Philippines and the Metro Naga Development Council. He also became the Chairman of the Regional Development Council. Aside from that, he obtained his masteral degree in Public Administration at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at the Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts as well. This happened during a time where Naga was proclaimed by Asiaweek magazine as one of the most improved cities in Asia.
The highlight of his career occurred when he was given the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service, which was considered Asia’s Nobel peace prize, for his good programs. He also received 13 other awards other than that to validate his epic leadership (Uy, 2012).
In 2010, he was appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Local and Interior Government by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III. One of the most significant things he pushed for was the full disclosure policy. This would require all local government units to submit 12 key financial documents that indicate the use of funds.
“Hindi rin sapat na tayo ay mahusay lamang. Hindi lahat ng matino ay mahusay, at lalo namang hindi lahat ng mahusay ay matino, ang dapat ay matino at mahusay upang karapat-dapat tayong pagkatiwalaan ng pera ng bayan.” he uttered.
He started suing people involved in spurious procurement contracts as well. The department stated that Robredo had always tried ameliorating the disaster risk reduction of LGUs by creating the Seal of Disaster Preparedness, an incentive mechanism. He had a ton of plans in mind to fix the crooked system of government in the country (Chiu & Tan, 2012).
This, sadly, can no longer be achieved anymore. Last August 18, 2012, the plane where he was boarding in crashed off the shore of Masbate Island. He was missing for days and the government sent as many teams as possible to help with this issue. On August 21 of the same year, he was found dead.
According to Yabes (2017), Jesse was really rushing home for the long weekend holiday. He wanted to spend it with his family. Naga was his “happy place.” Although he missed the swimming competition of his youngest daughter, he still wanted to go home.
The initial plan was for him to take the bus with his two daughters but due to unexpected circumstances, he needed to fly to Cebu for an important event of the president. This left him with no choice but to travel using a private plane from Cebu to Naga. Unfortunately, it emergency landed and eventually, took the lives of the people inside it.
“Hindi firebrand si Jesse. Hindi siya mahilig makipagpalakasan ng boses sa entablado. Hindi siya nakikipagpapogian sa media. Jesse was a worker. Trabaho ang gobyerno para sa kanya, not in the mercenary sense but in the sense of doing all the little unheralded and unglamorous things that inch us closer to our goals,” Mar Roxas, one of his closest friends, said in a speech he delivered in one of Robredo’s death anniversaries (Cupin, 2015).
Through it all, Jesse Manalastas Robredo created an impact, not only to those people from Naga but all Filipinos too. He was able to touch the lives of others and made everybody believe that a politician can still have a genuine heart. A true blooded hero like him has indeed balanced discipline with compassion, after all.

The dreaded confirmation.
Dear Future Solitwos (yas!! SoliTWOs because I am thinking that minimum kids we want to have is definitely two.. but not limited to two tho'),
Have I told that Tatay and I is a survivor of long distance relationship?
In 2013, your Tatay graduated before me and he needed to go to Cebu City for his review for the board exam. We were just starting out our relationship this time.. andddd twas so difficult. But we made it through constant texts and phone calls which costed him his shot at being a topnotcher. Yes.. had he spent the hours he spent talking to me on the phone to just studying, he couldve hit the mark. He had the bad reputation there. I am forever sorry for this.
In 2014, after failing to become topnotcher, I have seen your dad so devastated. He dreamed that one and to redeem himself, he decided to pursue a Master's Degree in University of San Carlos - Cebu City. Yes! That means we will be apart from each other but not really because this was the year I also needed to go to Cebu for my review.. so we were together in Cebu for like 6months! But mind you we lived a district apart. I am at the City proper and he is like at the outskirts of Talamban Cebu.. around 30-45mins jeepney ride away. What's worse is that he has class daily or needs to report in the campus daily because it is required in his scholarship and he can't get inside my dorm because of strict rules. So can only see each other on Sundays or if lucky there were weekdays when we sneak our time..
When my review days were done, by January 2015 Tatay returned to Cebu to continue his studies and I had to find work in GenSan.. I ended up in Sarangani Capitol because I don't want to burden my parents if I worked in Cebu and C is there.. they might think of bad scenes and we respect them too much. So I had to stay in GenSan tho' I dreamed of working for bigger companies. I just settled with visiting him in Cebu when we had opportunities or seat sales or when he is allowed to go home..
Tatay finished his Master's Degree in October 2016, and got a job in DOLE Philippines in Polomolok while I am employed in MSU GenSan. Btw, I applied in MSU at the thought that Tatay will pursue a teaching career but he found himself more inclined to working in the industry more than the academe so I had to respect that. So there.. polomolok-gensan love affair. Still, we only get to see each other surely on weekends. Why? Because your dad is very workaholic and dedicated that he goes home late and we can not risk seeing each other and have him travel 2hours to and fro polomolok just to meet up.
In November 2018, Tatay was hired in San Miguel Brewery up to present. But he was hired to be assigned in the Tagoloan Plant. However since the plant is still on construction process by the time he was hired so he stayed in Toril and did duties in the Davao Plant as part of his training. Again, distance. We can only see each other on Sundays since it's his only day off. We had to battle through 3hour bus rides just to meet up.
Now, this weekend it has been confirmed that Tatay is scheduled to go to Tagoloan by next week or before December 2019. This pains me a lot. Babes, it is so difficult to love someone whom you can't see always. But Tatay and I had endured the past years so I guarantee you that we will endure this one again and see you surely in the future.. See this is our goodnight text tonight after spending the weekend together since we anticipate that it is going to be a long time since we can hang out again.
Tumblr media
You see, Tatay might not be there on our 7th Anniversary or even Christmas Day and New Year's Day (he might celebrate lonely in Tagaloan in fact). My heart actually bleeds at this thought but know that this text message is more than enough reason to be still and let our love cover for the distance.
He is doing this sacrifice to be away from his life here in Gensan with Family and Friends because he wants our future to be good. Let this comfort you everytime Tatay maybe away or can't attend to us ha..
Ps.
Tumblr media
Tatay and Nanay eat out and had a mall date in Abreeza Davao today. Please remember that moments like this should be cherished that's why everytime I almost snap and pick up a fight today, Tatay reminded me not to and I give in because this should be our day to keep and hold on to in store for the rainy and lonely days coming.
Remember to cherish the moments of togetherness,
Nanay M.
