every time i think about the scene where jesse gets bailed out by whistler over the phone during the start of 3x10, i cant help but think it was a set up for a huge whistler arc or at least episode for season 4. having such an extensive network, calling in big, big favors in foreign countries, the way they framed the scene to me just felt like something was looming there. whether we got a regular 22 episode season or a shortened one, i can almost guarantee we'd have gotten a significant whistler dump no matter what because:

22 eps season: time to explore whistler through the team and lucy, but also in her own right

shortened final season: likely a big arc for both lucy and kate leading up to a proposal or a wedding

they try to give everyone a big episode in every season, but whistler spent most of s3 just floating around without a real place, so its possible the writers wouldve made it up to us in s4 with a lore drop finally

ok so i think actually the thing that offends me most about the DLC story/ending is that ......this doesn't give us any new information? it doesn't give us new context or motivation or anything.

you, player character, set out in the base game to conquer the lands between and become the new elden lord. to this end, you fight and extinguish other potential elden lords.

in the DLC.... you set out to conquer the shadow lands. to this end, you fight and extinguish another potential elden lord

like there are 8 "elden lord" endings already, and 2 "alternate" endings where you a) choose to end all life forever with the frenzied flame or b) choose to leave the planet with ranni. the thing is, the "alternate endings" are NIGH UNIVERSALLY considered "better" or at least the "more complete" endings because they give us an option, a narrative that transcends the cycle of gods and elden lords.

making miquella/radahn yet another cog in the cycle of gods and elden lords gives us FUCKING NOTHING that we don't already have.

It's like, we know the system is corrupt and pointless and the concept of "moral good" is a lie and the concept of "moral bad" is bottomless. So why are we upholding the system. Why not burn it down or abandon it? Why are we returning to the idea that the only way to affect change is within this pointless, corrupt system. Why are we fighting yet another wannabe elden lord when we've established that elden lords are fucking peons and their gods are sock puppets to a formless, ambivalent Other.

We solved this fuckin riddle already!!! It was the giant amoeba what lived in mommy god's brain! How do we find this out and take miquella seriously! He's like fourteen steps behind!

Tldr miquella should have given us a different way of ordering the world that is separate from the established order. I think he should have advocated for the destruction of gods in its entirety. I think he should have been baiting you to kill all his siblings, his mother and father, the amoeba what lives in their brain, and then at the end of it, been like, good, now you kill me. I am the last piece of filth out of the room. Choose my ending and at last the world can be clean. That's ruthlessness. That's the greater good. That's the kindness of a god.

The worldbuilding desease is on again I have been writing and talking to myself about one imaginary town for an hour. and a waterfall. that is not even near this town but is a kind of geographical landmark that marks the unofficial border point between the the northern lands and kingdoms and the rest of everything.

I am not normal about the...i should call it a city, it's a city. its just small but its in a less populated area and much larger than anything else they have. Sure it doesn't compare to the royal city or whatever else is in the southern lakelands or along the huge damn river in the middle of the big empire everyone else hates but it's a huge thing in the area its in, it's a city. A city of stairs and travellers and mountain air and seekers and hunters and illegal magic use and every imaginable type of crime. And the gateway to the deep north. It's a city.

And i am completely normal about this fucking waterfall. It's called Heaven's Fall and it's the reason a certain kingdom is unable to effectively trade with or travel to every other kingdom in the northlands and they hate it, they're on the wrong side of the mountains cut off by this big drop and the river that flows through the pass is not boat friendly and the water portal they use to get stuff up and down the damn thing takes an insane amount of magic because the big drop of the damn waterfall of death is just too tall. And they're walled in on their opposite border by two even more annoying kingdoms (one is essentially a religious cult and the other lead by rich lords of the ocean, both very power hungry and unfriendly to their neighbours) which this one wishes it didn't have to be in any way related to but undeniably is and also acts more like them than they realise because they're largest military power of all the kingdoms and constantly trying to get literally any form of access to the big trade river on the wrong side of the mountains because the other two just cannot be worked with

I’ve been thinking about the drama that’s plagued the RPC for like ten years and I recently saw a tiktok about how a lot of terminally online (which most of us are) people are like Liz Lemon from 30 Rock— specifically the episode where we go with her to her school reunion. She leads us to believe she was ostracized and bullied for being a nerd and it turns out she was actually the bully herself

And I feel like tumblr RPC is a little like that in that a lot of us were ostracized and bullied (maybe for not being bullies, maybe it’s just because we are nerds or autistic or shy or any number of things) and then as late teens or 20 something we come into the RPC where we can make friends with other fucking weirdos who like the same weirdo shit we do

And the smallest taste of having influence over a group of people goes straight to some people’s fucking heads and they think they’re suddenly the main character of RPC Euphoria or something.

Nobody here knows how to deal with arguments among friends (and I have been guilty about this myself) or how to deal with friendships falling apart simply because sometimes people do not get along. You are NOT going to get along with everyone.

So many Fuckin callouts and calls to cancel are people’s personal beef plus something said out of accidental ignorance or a stretch.

Okay! I just watched a gameplay of tlou part 1 and I have some thoughts

First, I just wanted to say that, based on what everyone kept saying, I expected it to be a lot more brutal than it was lol

I hope the first season is summer, then season 2 fall, and season 3 winter and spring. I think it would be nice to spend more time with Henry and Sam, and in Tommy's village

I don't know if that’s the intended message, but I came out thinking that the human kind doesn’t deserve to be saved. The world will move on. But humanity won’t end as long as there are people who won’t sell it for 'the greater good'
