Since @wyrmoftheweb put out a call for people to toss over their OCs to be drawn, I thought it was only fair his Imageth got a turn!

A baby Imageth and bronze Hazulth (my guy) discovering the joys of frisbee - probably not what you imaged when you wrote that phrase, but it's all I could picture! Is the scaling right? No idea, but hey ho, I thought it was cute.

oughhh i want to try pern rp so bad but i've never been on a proper rp forum before and i don't wanna fuck up... does anyone have reccomendations of weyrs that are lurker-friendly so i can hang out and see what people do for a bit without participating.... or ones with like, places where it's easy to ask questions. i've done some looking-arounding but there's kind of too many options

The significance it holds is mainly a marker of caste. Advancers evolved from eusocial bugs with five caste sexes, one of them being the "scouting" caste. While the castes have diluted over time due to not being necessary distinctions anymore, you can tell someone has traits of that scouting build because their markings are more vivid and colorful. Basically, back when they were squishy bug things, being able to spot the guy who tells you there's a predator coming or food somewhere was super important.

In general it's also just an identification holdover from that time as well, when they were a bit harder to tell apart.

I mean could you blame them? They looked like this

In terms of non facial coloration being important, the color of the tail (bright blue) indicates a healthy and fit individual in their eyes. Someone with a very blue, thick tail is considered attractive, while someone with a grey tail is definitely ill and/or malnourished.

This guy would be getting a lot of calls
