Cenotes are so dreamy, they’re one of my favorite places to be in the world. You could float in clear waters in a dim, secluded cave.. and look up to see layered, jagged rays of light filling the cave through its cracks. The light not only meets your skin but also reflects against and pierces the water, creating some of the most brilliant shades of green and blue you’d ever seen, with light dazzling on the surface. You can hear, but cannot see, the bats chirping amongst themselves along the edges and in the depths of the shrouded cave. The sound is alluring and curious, but you don’t swim to follow and discover the unknown. The softness and beauty of the moment makes all pain go away. You think you’re a fabled water nymph resting in its serene and magical watery cave, in these moments, you forget who you are

TMA fic recs

I have been reading a lot of the Magnus Archives fanfiction lately and there is this very specific type of fic I have been enjoying a lot: email conversations, official forms, HR complaints etc. I find looking at the Magnus Institute through that kind of perspective really interesting and fun, because despite everything it is a workplace. There are a lot of people who are trying to do their jobs with varying success.

These types of fics are probably not for everyone. I can see why someone might find emails and documents dry to read or just not vibe with the formatting, but I'm sure there are also people who love these kinds of fics as much as I do.

Beholding the GDPR: How the Magnus Institute Updated Its Privacy Policy for the Twenty-First Century And Only Caused One Nervous Breakdown In The Process

This fic is told through emails and the Institute's new messaging app. Christopher Davies has been hired as Institute's Data Protection officer and he gets right to work.

The fic gives really nice look into how the Institute functions as a workplace (or doesn't). Can't recommend more. I feel for Chris so much.

Overall very unique fic. Jon says some concerning stuff on an official document (some of it actually very warranted). Also wasps. I won't elaborate on that.

Idea that I like and want to share: A mysterious reality/space warping civilization places 21st century humans and post-fall Birrins on opposite sides of a planet. That same planet was terraformed in advance to support both populations. The two species spread out and come into contact with each other. While first contact lead to violence and xenotic disease outbreaks, cross-cultural exchange gradually led to the formation of dual-species nation states. I don't know what would happen next but I did realize that I got this idea from that one episode of south park...

I did explore, early on, the idea of birrin and humans creating a joint culture.
