Do you ever find it crazy how Empires SMP S1 had like... several gods just... walking around?
Like Empires s2 has Joel obviously but other than that no one else seems to really be a deity of any sort? I mean Sausage is there but he's not a god himself, just attracts them.
But s1? A solid third of the cast had some form of untapped divinity that they uncovered.
You had Lizzie, who turned out to be a ten foot tall goddess of the seas. Which means that Jimmy is at least a demigod just by nature of being her little brother. And the two of them are quite literally the oldest still living beings to ever walk the earth, predating civilization itself.
Then there's the whole situation with Scott and Xornoth. Reincarnations of vengeful gods, victims of an eternal cycle to perpetuate an endless grudge match. They may not be quite on the same level as Aeor and Exor but still!
And then on top of those four we also have Pearl??? Who is confirmed to have ascended after her death to a higher plane of existence? Who now has an entire religion surrounding her? Whose former best friend is now her most devout worshipper?
Does anyone else ever think about that?

Hear me out.
On Empires, we had the "c!Scott has a sibling" moment, and Scott was the younger sibling, while Xornoth was older, and they were corrupted.
On Pirates, we have the "c!Scott has a sibling" moment, but now Scott is the older sibling, and Pirates has some sort of corruption, and Scott shows interest in it in his journal entry.
Pirates SMP! Scott is going to end up corrupted by that purple stuff.

I'm abandoning the idea of reblogging the first note post to add notes, it would get far too long.
But I've been thinking about the Twin Kings again, so have some more notes:
Those who know of the connection with Aeor and Exor might sometimes refer to Scott and Xornoth as "The King of Winter" and "The King of Summer" respectively
They will both at some point gain some deer-like features, although I'm not yet sure about how Scott gets his, as it's only Xornoth who makes the deal with Lizzie for the crown of antlers (maybe Scott just finds his antlers somewhere, like how in canon Jimmy just finds the Codfather head)
But they will both get somewhat deer-like noses, deer ears, deer tails (Joey thinks that's so cute), and of course their antlers
Aeor is a reindeer, Exor is a red deer, so Scott's antlers are a lot more outwards branching and Xornoth's antlers are a lot more upwards branching (similar to canon demon Xornoth's horns)
I'm not sure I'm describing that very well so here are some references:
Tumblr media
Reindeer antlers
Tumblr media
Red deer antlers
With their antlers, they both gain an involuntary physical tell for their anger, by which I mean that Scott's antlers will grow icicles when he gets mad, and Xornoth's will just straight up light on fire
Since during summer red deer antlers are in velvet, Xornoth's antlers are permanently fuzzy (can get burned off, but will grow back very quickly)
Since during winter only female reindeer keep their antlers, this can only mean trans masc Aeor (possibly trans masc Scott? Maybe Aeor's champions are generally likely to be trans masc? I don't know)
Aeor and Exor fighting isn't nearly as big a deal in this AU as it is in canon, they're stags, stags fight, it's a thing they do, it causes thunderstorms, that's it

Well, until any further information is available, something different:
Xornoth from the Empires SMP canonically uses nameself pronouns!
Tumblr media
[ID: A transparent image of Xornoth from the "Empires SMP" stream. Xornoth is a bipedal figure with black skin, glowing from the inside with red and purple light. Behind Xornoth is the nameself pronouns flag, with stripes of: grey, blue, white, black, and red. End ID.]
As far as I can tell from the wiki page, this characters does not use it/its pronouns, Xornoth is misgendered using it/its, he/him, and they/them. Being misgendered using it/its pronouns (Among others) is not the same thing as canonically using it/its :(
If the wiki page is incorrect, please let me know.
Yes, this does mean you can now request other pronouns for characters as long as a pride flag exists for it, lol...

I love the passive Xornoth design so much, so I drew him :]
I like to think its pre-corruption, just when things get spicy for him.

Do you guys ever think about how Scott was perfectly set up to be the one to break the cycle of champions?
The rule of three, Scott knowing about the history of the cycle beforehand, sealing Xornoth away instead of banishing or killing them. You think oh of course, the reason we're focusing on these characters in particular instead of, say, Alinar and Cohnal, is because they're gonna be the ones to put an end to this.
And then... they didn't. They weren't saviors who defied the gods and their destinies like we've come to expect from a story like this. Scott never recognized the cycle for what it was, and he never questioned the word of Aeor, because why would he?
And you're hit with the realization that Scott and Xornoth weren't important. They were just two more cogs in the machine. Just another generation of champions. They weren't special. They killed each other just as the gods intended them to.
By the end of season 1, it's not over. Scott defeated his brother, and saved the world from Xornoth, but the gods are still there, still watching. Exor, a god, who can afford to wait another five hundred or so years and then try again.
And so the cycle kept going. There were probably more champions just as unimportant as Scott and Xornoth were. Faceless, nameless champions who we don't know nor care for. The reason we know Scott and Xornoth is not because of their relevance, but to show us the meaninglessness, the inevitability of it all.
And we never know the resolution to it. It could still be going on, even a thousand years later in season 2, for all we know. Because we all thought Scott was supposed to stop it, and he didn't.
Because I do. I think about it a lot.

Does anyone know where I can find the Empires SMP clip/VOD/whatever where Scott was playing around with a voice changer with Shubble? You know, the one that gave him the inspiration for Xornoth’s voice?
