I was kind of thinking, when Majima was in his twenties, everyone just kinda knew he was a nice guy.

Thinking about how in Y0, Shimano apparently knew Majima enough to know he wouldn’t have it in him to kill an innocent girl like Makoto. How he instead would go out of his way to protect her and keep her safe because she didn’t deserve to be pulled into all of this.

Going back even farther to when they had hoards of men to keep Majima away from Saejima the day of the hit because they suspected he wouldn’t have wanted to abandon Saejima no matter what.

Did Majima start speaking in a Kansai dialect because he wanted to seem more intimidating than he actually was? Is Yakuza 0 just a game where Majima realizes that any kindness he shows will just be taken advantage of by others? So he decides to try to stamp it out completely? And when he meets Kiryu, he’s so enamoured with him because he’s finally met someone who’s strong enough to freely and unwaveringly show kindness no matter how people try to take advantage of it.

Despite being the straight man in almost every interaction, I’m pretty sure Saejima is the funniest RGG protag.

I wish there were more angry women in the Yakuza games.

Not angry as in 'bitchy' or whatever-- I mean angry as in they're so fucking sick and tired of the world around them- how it treats them- how they're just shunted around by a narrative that doesn't consider them

Like. Yasuko. I feel like if she'd been written to be angrier, it would've been so freaking interesting! She was a little girl when Saejima-- her brother and only caretaker-- was arrested. Her life was thrown into disarray when she was like. 15! She was a child that had to suddenly figure out how to survive. And then she spends the next 25 years trying to figure out what happened to her brother and how to get him back. That's basically her entire life.

Imagine if she was so fuckin pissed the entire time we see her in 4. She's going through the story *this* close to getting what she wants and *this* close to completely snapping and destroying anyone who gets in her way.

What if when Akiyama tries to put the moves on her she yells and screams at him because he's acting like just another man that wants to take advantage of her (because yeah, what the hell was that Akiyama??)? What if she wasn't just... a nice woman in the game? What if she spends the entire time spitting and cursing and not putting up with the bullshit being thrown at her? Because she had her life taken from her and now people are acting like she's being unreasonable?

And then when she reunites with Saejima? She's happy but also:

"What the fuck were you thinking? You knew you were all I had! You threw our lives away for what? To give your boss some glory?!"

And if Haruka was just a little ball of anger? That would be catnip to me.

If she ever sees Kiryu again I want her to cuss him out! I want her to not forgive him! Because she sees that having him in her life will end badly. Something will trigger his flight response and he'll disappear again to 'protect' her. And her emotions will never be considered.

She sees the same pattern in her own behavior and she realizes where it came from and that's unforgivable because now she's terrified that she'll do the same thing to her own family.

I want Kiryu to have to work for their relationship because Haruka's tired of all the men around Kiryu being prioritized over her. I want her to learn that Daigo got a letter and she got NOTHING and to be furious about that! Because:

"It never even crossed your mind to write your daughter a final letter? Not just someone you consider to be your daughter, but your actual. Adopted. Daughter? It never occurred to you that it might bring me some closure after you faked your death?!"

Like that scene in 0 where Makoto meets with Dojima? That's what I want!!!

I want women who have nothing to lose and who are so angry and sick of the shit being thrown at them. I want them to demand the heads of the people who hurt her be lined up on a table for her to peruse and mock.

I think it's every woman's right to be quite honest.

I'm joking btw. I think every woman has the right to fantasize about it.

WARNING SPOILERS FOR Y0, YK1, Y3, Y4, JUDGE EYES SERIES!!

Honestly getting a bit annoyed with entirely preventable events occuring because of chronic stupidity. Namely: not securing defeated enemies.

How, HOW is it that throughout his years of experience of (almost) getting fucked over by enemies not being properly dealt with once they're defeated Kiryu DOESNT LEARN to maybe carry rope or some shit and immediately secure the enemy?

I'm talking pat them down for weapons (especially guns) and tie them up.

Like Yakuza 0: that annoying dude at Dojima HQ that ends up killing Tachibana and that keeps trying to smash Kiryu's head in with bowls.

Yakuza 1: Jingu. And also Nishiki, in a way, because had Kiryu immobilised him properly he would not have been able to get up and commit suicide. SHIMANO. FUCKER GETS UP AGAIN AND THROWS A BOMB.

Yakuza 2: uhhh don't remember rn.

Yakuza 3: WHATS HIS NAME TAMASHIRO OR STH. Also fucking Andre Richardson.

Yakuza 4: the dude with the extremely fucked up hairline that kills Yasuko. (Saejima literally goes: that fucker aint dead yet, reveals him to be wearing a bulletproof vest and then just goes like huh okay and DOESNT TAKE HIS GUN LIKE IM SORRY BUT THAT WAS SO PREVENTABLE AND UNNECESSARY.) Also Akiyama would literally be dead if it weren't for sheer dumb luck and that cash.

Lol imagine the game had the stack of cash programmed to how much cash you have (because it gets pooled together for the finale and Akiyama manages it) and if you don't have like 1Mil yen Akiyama just straight up dies

Yakuza 5,6,7: still need to play that

LIKE DO YAKUZA JUST HAVE MUSH FOR BRAINS. DID THEY SELL THEIR BRAINCELLS ON THE BLACK MARKET??? WHY DOES NO ONE EVER THINK ABOUT MAKING SURE THAT ENEMIES CANT GET TO GUNS ESPECIALLY.

Like it's tragic and all the first few times but like why do you keep making the same mistake??? By now it just feels bad and not in a good way.

Rules of RGG writing:

If there's an unattended gun, it will be used.

If an enemy has been defeated, they will get back up again unless killed.

It just stood out to me. They might have been changing things up especially for newer games: f. Ex. The Judge Eyes series does a lot better with this.

In Judgement, Hamura doesn't die. Kuroiwa is stopped before he can kill Shono (thanks Kaito).

In Lost Judgement, they tie up Soma (THANK FUCK) and Kuwana lives.

So maybe the difference is just that Yagami has braincells. For now. With the amount of head injuries he rakes in that might change.

But seriously considering how fucking traumatic all of these events must have been to Kiryu: how does he not learn??? It's just so unbelievably unnecessary. Like find a different way to kill off characters since you want to do that so bad please.
