Metropolitan Museum Reaction Paper
F O R T Y
The MET Collection|The MET and BSP Collection|The MET Archives Collection
By Louise Junel T. Nobleza
BFA – 3A
Visiting the Metropolitan Museum was exciting. The first thing that greeted the visitors was a confusing interactive statue of two horses: One with two heads, the other with two rears. As I continued to explore the Museum, a lot of paintings were exhibited as well as sculptures. What surprised me was that a painting of Salvador Dali was showcased.
There are artists that I found interesting: Rodel Tapaya’s “Sacrifice”, Ronald Ventura’s “Insecured”, Sanggawa’s “Epilogo”, Yasmin Sison-Ching’s “The bird and the Fox”, Juan Alcazaren’s “Six Hearts”, Atipas Delovato’s “Itak sa puso ni Mang Huan”. What inspired me was their use of technique and concept, as well as how it catches the viewer’s attention.
After leaving the Museum, I realized that anything can be a solid concept so long as there is a meaning behind it that explains to the viewers visually. Through the paintings seen, the expressions and techniques, the Artist’s message is delivered to the Viewer.

When my eyes caught this collage by Yasmin Sison it made me think of my little girl. When I took a closer, longer look at it, I saw myself too. A little treasure found at Art in the Park 2011.
